By far one of the most interesting and intelligent profs I've ever had. Very interesting lectures and this is coming from someone who gets distracted easily. Only downside, the exams are **EXTREMELY** difficult. They are all short answer so if you blank out or are a horrible test taker good luck.

Laith Al-Shawaf is an amazing professor. His lectures are interesting and are worth showing up for. The exams can be difficult, but he only asks questions about material discussed in class. He also held study sessions before each exam to help answer unanswered questions.

Dr. Al-Shawaf (he'll tell you to call him Laith) is amazing! His lectures are really entertaining and full of fascinating information. His personality class has been the most informative psychology class I've ever taken. If you're at all interested in human personality, evolution, or general psychology, I highly recommend taking his class.

I loved taking personality psychology with Dr. Al-Shawaf. He is one of the best professors I've had at UCCS. His lectures are clear and concise. He is an incredibly polished and engaging lecturer. It was easy to do well on his short answer tests because he teaches the material very well. He enjoys questions and passionate learners.

Laith Al-Shawaf has a passionate lecture style with humor and real talk. I took detailed notes during lectures and barely read the book. Just multiple choice tests, and Sona credit required. Missing lectures will hurt test, but he provide slides and extra materials to read. Very caring and open to discuss topics after class.

Really entertaining lectures, I never opened my textbook. His exams are not cumulative. He is very interested in the subject and loves to answer questions. The class itself hits interesting topics such as human mating and abnormal psych. Loved this class, good notes will be your key to good exam scores.

He is my favorite professor Ive had. He cares a lot about his career field which makes you love the class. Hes super professional, cares about students success, but tests are the main grade for my class (General Psychology) which isnt as bad as it sounds.

Laith is super cool and he relates to his students. The topics he talks about do not go along with the boring textbook. He talks about really interesting topics that engaged me. His grading is only a few tests with no homework but they are super easy!

There is a good amount of reading but not an over whelming amount. If you keep up and study you will do just fine!

I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking to learn unbias and reliable information from a professor who knows exactly what he is teaching. The lectures are heavy with information so skipping would not be advised, but show up and utilize his office hours and you will receive an easy and fulfilling A. Take the class if you can!

We use a textbook in this class, but you don't need it for the majority of the course. Most of the testing subject comes from the lectures. So although attendance is not mandatory, I garuntee you won't pass if you don't go to class. GO TO EVERY CLASS if you can. He is a wonderful and funny. He really shows that he is thete for your success.

Laith is a fantastic professor. The class is lecture heavy, and you will need the textbook. Get ready to study a lot as well. He is extremely helpful in providing guidance and opportunities to his students. Definitely take this class if you're a psychology major because he organizes the course to help prepare you for your future psychology courses.

What a bro. This guy knows his stuff better than any professor I've ever had, and he is incredible at presenting info and super approachable. Love him! Entire class is graded on three tests- so you need to come and har lecture to pass, but there is no homework or glasswork- amazing class!

I've had Dr. Al-Shawaf for both introduction to Psych and Personality Psych. I've had him both in class and online and I would have to say he is definitely the best professor I've ever had! He is very passionate about what he teaches and gives the most incredible lectures. He definitely wants nothing more than for his students to succeed! 10/10

Watch ALL the lectures and take NOTES! You dont use the book as much and I relied only on lectures/slides and aced it. However, you canNOT slack and do well. He loves questions (what student does well when they dont ask questions?) It is online, but email him! A lot of lectures, but never boring either, so that is a BIG plus when online!

One of the best professors out there! He engages with the students and is always more than willing to explain anything you do not understand. He makes learning fun and genuinely cares about your learning experience! He is passionate about what he teaches and that makes a huge difference in your learning! I would take again, over and over!

Laith made psychology very interesting and fun! I never used the textbook, but basically if you show up to all the lectures and study the lecture slides for the exams, you will definitely do well in the class. There are only 4 grades (3 exams and SONA study points), however if you work hard you will succeed. He is super funny and engaging!

Laith was easily my favorite professor. He is so articulate and explains things so brilliantly. Just pay attention, take notes, study, and you will pass with flying colors! He's amazing!

Very flexible and approachable. He is invested in his students and is willing to meet to provide extra help. He manages to keep the lecture entertaining and makes sure students have a clear understanding. You do not need to read the text book to do well on the test. If u dont show up to class you wont pass. If you do not study you will not do well.

Laith is one of the best professors Ive had in college and Im not even a psych major. The lectures are fun and interesting. Each topic of discussion is important and Dives in the perfect amount for what general psych should be touched on. Would totally take more classes with him! Highly recommended !

Laith is an amazing lecturer. He has a phenomenal background in psychology and knows his shi. His slides are detailed and very factual. Going to every class is vital as he will often times have very important things to say outside of his slides. Laith cares a lot about his students and learns your name after one office visit. I highly recommend.

If not the best, one the best course I have ever taken at UCCS. I am a full time Solider and part time student and this was my last semester so Id say Ive seen a few teachers in my time and Professor Laith was amazing. Due to his teaching style I was able to learn and retain information and enjoyed what I was learning. Just a great instructor.

Great professor and great class! Laith genuinely cares about his students' education and invests time and energy into making sure his students understand the material. He is always available to answer questions or receive concerns and encourages students to express their thoughts and ideas, even when controversial.

I took his intro class and really enjoyed it. He doesn't take roll, and the students who didn't attend class were those who struggled. Do the reading, go to class, and study. The tests are directly from the materials and straightforward. 10/10 recommend this professor, and I will be trying to take classes from him in the future.

He is super understanding that most students have lives outside of school and doesn't dock you for that. If you pay attention to the lecture videos and read through the power points, you'll have no issue passing this class. Laith was super engaging and was always reminding us he was available for anything, class related or not. Wonderful prof!!

Taking Laith Al-Shawaf's General Psych class is the reason I decided to major in Pyschology. I will be taking his classes again. There is a book with reading where some of his test questions are taken from, but he bases a lot of the questions on his lecture. He only graded three tests over the enitre semester. No extra work, essay, etc. JUST STUDY!

Great professor! He makes solid connections between psychology and everyday life. This was a Senior Seminar class so it wasn't an easy A but it was enjoyable.

Even though this class was a little difficult, I would highly recommend it to anyone. The professor really made the class. He brings humor and authenticity to the class and it makes you generally want to be engaged in what he is saying. You will work for your grade but the professor is very accessible and generally wants you to be successful.

I took general psych with him and it was just watching lectures and reading during the weeks. The course only had four tests, no homework or anything. If you like tests and not outside busy work, this class is for you. Unsure of how it would be in person though.

My semester taking PSY1000 has been an absolutely wonderful and educational experience thanks to this professor. His lectures are both informative and entertaining, and his lectures and formatting is exactly what I was expecting to receive while completing my undergraduate degree. Laith is honestly the best professor I have ever had in my entire school experience. He is so good at providing multiple different examples and perspectives in order to get the point across to all students. Watch his lectures and take good notes and you will do fine in any of his classes. I wish Laith could teach every psych class.

I took personality psych one winter and loved the class/professor so much that I ended up taking evolutionary psych during the following summer. Even though I have never had this professor for an in-person lecture, he is so eloquently spoken and a phenomenal lecturer overall. Definitely content heavy, but the tests are easy if you pay attention.

Laith is a world class professor and researcher, and we're lucky to have him at UCCS. His lectures are entertaining and engaging. In this class, the only grades you get are on 3 tests, but they are well constructed and clearly written. His enthusiasm for the subject matter is contagious, and makes the material more tangible & easier to absorb.

Even though this was an online class, you can tell he is really passionate about his students and the field of psychology! The lectures were straight forward yet entering and engaging making the material easier to understand and remember. I really enjoyed this course and he is 100% the reason for that! Laith is the best professor I've had in UCCS. The class was completely asynchronus but his lectures are amazing and very engaging. If you don't watch the lectures you will have a very hard time with the exams because the way he phrases things in his lectures are how they are phrased in the exams so keep that in mind when studying. BEST CLASS!!

One of the best Profs I've taken. He doesn't assume knowledge of anything, so if there is anything missing in your "foundation" you are gold. He's truly a great prof. Lots of book recommendations, which are actually great reads.

I took the pre-term Evolutionary Psychology course and it was very lecture heavy. We had 3 exams, 1 every week, we covered 4 chapters for each exam/week, and we had a few required readings per exam. Lectures and chapters are long, but the Professor makes them entertaining to watch. I recommend 1 chapter a day, then studying throughout the week.

First of all, please look at Dr. Al-Shawaf's credentials. He is well respected within the Psychological field and has had great academic success. His lectures are pre-recorded and has a total of 3 quizzes the entirety of the class. So, there isn't much interaction with him(I wish) but his pre-recorded lectures are amazing and easy to follow.

This class changed my whole outlook on the field of psychology. Laith is so knowledgeable and his lectures are incredible, even in an online format. He makes difficult topics easy to digest. This class has 3 short answer based tests but if you take good notes on the lectures you'll do great!

Professor Al-Shawaf is a really easy professor. I took his class online and there were only 3 quizzes the entire semester. Highly recommend going through the videos as the material does truly come from his lecture videos he makes. I plan on taking another class with him when possible.

I have just about taken every course this professor offers because he is hands down my favorite professor at UCCS. Super intelligent professor. He knows an incredible amount of material and lectures very eloquently and thoroughly. Whole class grade is based on tests, but if you watch the video lectures, tests will be easy. Online textbook is required for the class, but I never used it. He also provides really good study tips. Amazing! The course was fully online and all the lectures were already recorded. All I had to do was go through the modules in Canvas and take my own notes. Some lessons had additional readings, but not often. The lectures are very engaging, he is definitely great at teaching online. All the material is very interesting as well!

I don't think I've yet taken a course with a more compelling professor. This course's material was life altering, but without Professor Laith and his creativity to integrate outside texts/materials/examples, and his overall mesmeric intelligence on the topic, the overall course experience wouldn't have been the same. He is truly an inspiration.

Dr. Al-Shawaf is an amazing professor. I enjoyed taking his 4-week course during winter break. His lectures were very enjoyable. Although the course covered topics relating to anthropology, biology, and psychology, I never felt lost in the material. I would highly recommend that anyone who has the chance to, should take one of his courses.

Was an amazing teacher and had a good time listening to his lectures. His lectures were just like his quizzes and finals so taking notes or rewatching lecture videos is a must.

Professor Laiths Evolutionary Psych class was the best class I have ever taken. The information learned was incredibly interesting and the lectures were very clear and informative. There was no homework other than to make sure you watch the lecture videos. Exams were the perfect level of difficulty. Highly recommend both Laith and PSY3300.

First semester @UCCS I took a class taught by Dr. Al-Shawaf and was immediately hooked and declared psych as my minor. I took as many courses offered by him as I could, and 3300 was no exception. By far my favorite material, and Laith teaches it in a way that it easy for you to understand. If you don't want to put in effort- this is NOT the class.

Professor Laith cares so much about his career and hearing him talk about the knowledge he holds on personality off the top of his head is so inspiring it makes me WANT to pay attention. He does require lockdown browsers and only has 3 grades (tests) in the gradebook but he does give more than enough extra credit to make up for it. Highly recommend

The lectures were engaging and interesting and appealed to current events. He recommended outside resources if students were interested in a specific topic as well as opening himself up for any questions about the class or others. I look forward to taking more of his courses in the future.

As long as you watch the lecture videos, you can easily pass with an A in his class. He used very interesting examples and videos to explain different concepts in his lecture. Never really used the textbook, but he recommends reading it. Only graded off of 3 exams, which was so nice not to have extra homework.

Laith was an enjoyable professor, his lectures are LONG and there are a lot of them but he keeps them entertaining. I will say, I didn't buy the textbook and still ended with an A+ just by watching the lectures and taking notes on the powerpoints. It was also a very interesting class, so I enjoyed it and would take again.

Dr. Al-Shawaf is the kind of prof that makes you want to delve deeper into psych and how the mind works. I took his psy 1000 first and made psych my major after it! Now Im registered for two more of his courses. He explains stuff super clearly and he makes the material super interesting. Def recommend!

Only three tests, had to watch a lot of lectures and take lots of notes. The lectures were easy to get through because I skipped through a lot of it. I did do well on the tests though.

If you need to take this course and you have a heavy workload in your other classes, I would highly recommend this teacher because there are only 3 exams. He is super well versed on anything you could have a question on and clearly loves what he does. If you are even remotely interested in Psych, this teacher makes the class fascinating.

Laith was an excellent professor. He made learning the basics of psychology fun and interesting. I have actually chosen to change my course of study after taking this class! The class can be tough, because it requires a lot of autonomy and self study, but Dr. Al-Shawaf was available to help via email and did Q&A sessions before each test.

Laith Al-Shawaf is a solid teacher, and makes the topic interesting. Personally, I was not a huge fan of the class style being online and having only three exams for the entire class (and grade). Definitely be ready to sit down and lock in for the long lectures that he provides. But for what its worth, I would have chosen this class again.

Grades are based solely on three exams. There are a lot of lectures each week, but if you follow along with his presentations, the exams are very easy. Despite the volume, the lectures are engaging and fun to watch, and he is willing to help students work through any issues.
