It was difficult but the professor was cool - you HAVE to do the work, no excuses

Stop with the group work!!! It's an online class, we shouldn't have group work! Of course this was ignored, the rest of the course and the instructor was ok, just no more group work!!

I took her at LIT, not LU and she was the coolest teacher I had. Her class was fun, and I HATE speech.

You have to use YouTube in this class, and the audience of finding five or more people sucks, but the instructions were very detailed and clear and all the links worked. I didn't have much interactions with her but she posted a lot of announcements to check on the course

At first I though this was going to be a really hard class, but she has examples for everything! That's what I liked. I would recommend her to another student

I was pregnant when I took her course and stressed, at first I thought she was ignoring me, but she actually called and assisted me over the phone with my work (the YouTube share did not work). So we had a rough start, but she was extremely helpful!

I am an expert for ms j classes, i took her 3 times. do your work, if u don't u will have problems, if u do u will be okay. dont miss the due dates and don't keep givin her excuses - just do the work

The syllabus is 18 pages - she is really really detailed. Easy instructor.

The YouTube share thing was a bit challenging but the good news is that the instructor provides detailed instructions for all the submissions for the online course. I enjoyed the class.

it took me a while, but the course calendar that is in the syllabus explains how the online class go, I didn't like finding the five people because of my work schedule. But I spoke with the instructor over the phone and she told me that I could do my speeches at work with my co-workers, and I was able to record it with my cell, that made it easy.

I wasn't getting a response from the instructor at first. We ended up talking on the phone finally, and she said that most of the questions I asked were answered in the syllabus. So read your syllabus - she may not answer your email.

I took ms j at westbrook, two years ago, but I still follow her on twitter. I have to say, she is the one professor I thought of to give me a letter of reference and she remembered me and really helped me out. Ms. Jones is AWESOME!

This online class was different from all my other courses, but I liked the organization of the class, and the instructor was good

I'm taking this class online for the summer - it was an easy class, I did miss one speech that dropped my grade so be sure to get your speeches in on time

She is the best! You can tell she really loves what she does! Loved the online class!

Great class, great instructor!

Her class's fills up fast. I took her online and a friend of mine took her in class, she really does teach almost the same if you take her online or in the class. My friend and I was able to compare notes and help each other out on our speeches. Good organized class.

I love Ms. J - the class I took with her, we didn't need a book just the ap guide, all of our writing assignments were reviewed in class, she really did teach me how to edit my work

The class has a workbook, she changes some of the instructions found in the workbook, so you have to log into blackboard to make sure you are doing the correct speech, at first that was confusing. I didn't like the quizzes, but I had no problems with the instructor

The course was easy. However, it is a bit difficult to get a quick response from Ms. Jones in the summer time (she travels a lot). However, she gives a brief announcement about reading all her instructions and challenges us to READ everything in blackboard. Most often I did find the answer but I would have liked to communicate with her more

You have to be self disciplined to take this class online - there is plenty of instruction (her syllabus is like a thousand pages). But if you submit ALL of the required assignments you will be okay. I like that she may give you corrections but she doesn't grade too harshly

She's funny, she's smart, she definitely have a passion for what she does, and she expects you to do your work without the excuses. I liked the course and the structure

I think the course instructions are thorough - the only way to not pass it to not read the instructions.

The grading is taken directly from the workbook - all you have to do is use those rubrics that are found after all the speech instructions. I don't like the changed instructions from the workbook, but she said it's because the workbook is not designed for an online class. My question is who uses workbooks in this day and age?

Remember - if it is written - that's what you are supposed to do. I like that she responds quickly to emails. I will see how the rest of this semester goes.

Ms. j. doesn't grade all her speeches, she has an assistant or something, I agree with most people - you have to thoroughly read the instructions and the workbook takes the guessing out of how you will be graded. I took this class twice - and all the public speaking classes use the same speech requirements & book. I preferred online bc of work

I hate speeches - I was avoiding this class, but I'm graduating next semester so I have to take, we are on the group speech in the course now (don't like working in groups). But the class is not that hard, i have a b so far and as everybody else said - it is a lot of reading - she's wordy

Took this class with my friend, he failed and I passed the online course, you have to READ a lot. if you do not understand she responds quickly to emails (within hours), and you need your textbooks

failing - i wouldn't take this class online, the audience thing is ridiculous, she doesn't accept late work and though it is all written out for you, it is a lot of instructions that can be easily missed, and we have to do a group speech, its too much, rather take at the university, tried to drop but couldn't

This is an EASY class, everything is written out for us on Blackboard(including examples for the outlines, and you can go on YouTube to look at past students speeches) , she responds REALLY quick to emails, and she gives extra credit! She does have this thing about "lazy" questions. GOTTA READ people!

Don't ask for favors, do your work, and get the textbookworkbook for the class. Responded to all of my emails, gives extra credit, mostly dumb students struggle and don't pass

Through trial and error, I can say that she expects you to know everything that is written in the syllabus and online. We exchanged a lot of emails and each time she referred me back to either the syllabus or Blackboard for the answers to my questions - that was irritating!!

She is the greatest, I took her online, but I also visited her during office hours, 10 minutes with her and I learned so much, and I understood how smart and funny she is - a nice and understanding person!

Taking this class online, the extra credit helps a lot. I enjoyed the feedback - I just have to pass the last exam

I thought I was making a whole letter grade below what Ms. J said I would make for the class, her course is structured with extra credit if you do all your assignments, so I earned an extra 100 points - she is alright with me!

This is a DIFFERENT online course. I don't like not having due date reminders, but she provides a calendar at the beginning of the course for the semester, you have to read and re-read the syllabus and all the written instructions. One of the lecture links on the course did not - week 4. Get your textbooks before the class starts

Media writing is a lot of work but it is fun, we learn a lot about editing and writing, and the extra credit is awesome - I really enjoyed this class. And we don't have a textbook, we have to use the AP guide

We edit our papers with classmates for everyone to see, I did not think I would be okay with this, but that is the best part of this class, the instructor does not embarrass you, often she laughs with us. The extra credit is great as well.

Lots of writingediting, lots of fun, lots of extra credit - brought my GPA up!

She didn't even announce but she gave us 50 extra credit points just for completing the course! Boost me up from a b+ to an A! Easy winter mini class

If you don't do all your speeches, you will automatically fail the course. I think that's unfair - I did 3 speeches and I had to drop the class. The bad thing is that all public speaking classes are like that!!!

Be sure to do all of your speeches and you can at least make a C in the course

You can tell the teacher enjoys teaching the class. She gives you example outlines for when you are completing your speeches that are easy to follow. Will make a good grade as long as you attend class ( will give 100 points if you miss less than four classes) and do your work. Extra credit is available!

This class was hard, I wish she would have allowed late work.

Dr. Jones gives me life!!! Such an inspiration for young journalists, especially female and African Americans. She knows her stuff and has several degrees in addition to actual work in the field. If you want to be a successful journalistic writer, take her right now. There are 5 writing assignments and one grammar test. No final. Lots of EC

Yeah Ms. Jones is a OG. Take her class she's chill and I like how she doesn't require her students to dress for presentations. She has a life so emailing on her off days like MWF and weekends you're less likely get a quick reply so always ask on Tues. and Thurs. Don't read your outline and give good contact and you're good to go!

I did not like the exams. but the course was easy overall. this lady is really organized.

I have taken all of the classes Dr. Jones have taught at LU - I want her to teach more. She is one of the greatest in the Communication department. I am going to miss being in class.

she gives out A LOT of work for an online mini, i believe there were 10 quizzes, 2 exams, 4 speeches & outlines, and like 5 assignments. the exams and quizzes are graded automatically and they are ten questions each with a 30 min time limit, the exams are 50 questions with 60 mins (intense!) she grades very easily on speeches and assignments.

Professor Jones is a really kind teacher, but dont make her mad. Class was easy but she grades speeches tough, but she gives alot of chances to make an A with extra credit. Make sure to come to class because attendance is a grade.
