This guy has to be the most boring teacher i have ever had! He doesn't even speak good english and he says "correct?" and "any question" like every 5 minutes ... hes the most tiring, annoying professor EVER!
He was a great professor. He is very clear in explaining problems. Unfortunately the subject he teaches is math and most people including me dislike math. If you do the work you can pass the class with a C or a B.
Not clear with instruction, doesn't help out enough...lousy teacher
Horrible! He made everything very confusing and he made our tests nearly immpossible. Half the class dropped. Dont take him unless there is no one else. You will be made miserable.
This is a very good teacher... The subject is however, complex. Therefore it is difficult! If you have to take it, he explains things very well... Study is a must!!!
got 100s on his tests, he writes his lectures out to the word, we can use formula sheets on the test, he is very good at explaining stat, although i have heard all different responses about his other classes, but on the whole i think he is a great teacher, best i have had yet at least
Tries his best to make a very difficult class easy for students to understand. His approach is a bit dry, but it is math, not much to do to make it an exciting lecture.
DONT TAKE HIM, UNLESS YOU HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF CALC!! Expects you to know everyting about Coll. Alg., he will not explain more than 2 or 3 times. Course out was wack! Spent whole semster on Ch. 1-3, and a week on the last 2 chapters. Curves grades, but this doesnt help! BEWARE OF THIS PROF!
He's excellent at explaining, he does expect a good Algeb background but is ok if you ask questions. I like his accent-it kept me awake. He has the biggest curve in all history! He appreciates hard workers! He is kind when you go to his office for help. All question on final are ch. tests. Thumbs up
He is very good at explaining things. His tests were difficult but he tries to give as many points as he can. He is helpful and available when you have questions. I actually liked calc with him.
I don't advise taking this teacher for stats. He dose not let you ask questions in class about a chapter we covered. You have to ask him outside of class and he was never in his office. He spent alot of time lecturing us on attendace and why we shouldn't talk in class. I felt like I was in highschool.
if you know your algebra he is great for you, have suggested homework so you dont need to do it if you dont want, people who dont really get math struggle in this (w/any teacher) he explains exercise as yu have a base of basic algebra
Took him for Int Alg. very tough. He expects you know almost everything he's teaching. He only give 4 grades, 3 tests and the final. so you have to be really self disciplined to take this class, and must show up to every class. He also get's really upset when people talk. Once gave a 5 min. lecture about how he's not afraid to ask you to leave. BAD
He expects you to know everyting about College Algebra and will not explain more than once. We spent most of the semster on Ch. 1-3, and just a couple weeks on the last 2 chapters. Beware!
I would recommend this teacher to anyone-even non-math people! I hated the subject but he made it bearable & really cared about effort! I worked really hard & still struggled but he gives as many points as anyone could! Very generous and caring teacher. Don't give up with him! Go see him in his office & he'll help! VERY NICE GUY!

Really smart but kinda hard to understand his accent at first.
HATED HIS CLASS!! It's not his accent that I hate (i've had a russian teacher that I could hardly understand and loved him). This guy sucks, HE'S NICE BUT he does not get to know ANY of his students (after 3 months in the class he couldn't name any of us!) his teaching technique is just horrible, out of about 33 students the class ended up with 15
thick accent, had us use huge book not for homework but for practice homework, had us do math hw online with math lab which was difficult to run and use. dropped quickly. he is not so good. for my second pre-college math, i would have failed when last sem. i got an a from a different great teacher.
People that dont like to do the homework..good news for u!! he doesnt collect homework..u can do it if u want. his tests come directly from the textbook.. he goes over similar problems in class. If u take notes and have a good background for algebra..U dont have to do the homework..just pay attention in class and u will pass the test. He also curve
Dr. Raj is a very intelligent and nice man. However, he isn't on the same level as most people, and he can be difficult to understand sometimes. Just read the book, do his homework problems, and you will be fine. He grades with a curve that can put you over 100%. Every test is about 10-12 questsion, and 3-5 were assigned homework problems. Easy A.
Nice guy, very smart, but takes a long time going through things. could be done much quicker. Sometimes hard to understand with his accent, but he tries. He only allows you to miss like 2 days, and it is hard to attend because the class can get REALLY boring. As long as you communicate him, he will work with you.
Very nice and patient with slow learners
He goes extremely fast and tends to give you the cold shoulder w/a little bit of an attitude if you ask too many questions - it tends to refer to the "previous course" a lot - you better know your previous course, in order to take his class - pick someone else - if you're worried about your GPA
Professor Rajaram explanations are clear and profesional. I enjoed his class.
I had him for Elem. Alg. and prayed that I'd get him again for College Alg. Lucky me!! He's an awesome instructor and very articulate. Loved his teaching style. Highly recommended!
this teacher is horrible. you cant understand him, his accent is too strong, he goes too fast and doesnt help and makes you feel dumb for asking for help. you people are nuts to take him and like him. my whole class thought this guy was out of his mind.
I think Dr. Raj does a great job. Take notes and do the homework...and to tell you the truth if you take good notes and understand what he is doing you don't have to do the homework. He is more then happy to explain things over, but if a person still doesn't understand he is willing to help outside the classroom. Extremely intelligent man.
HES OK. he comes in, teaches, and leaves. he asks if theres any questions during the lecture but thats about it. and his accent IS NOT THAT BAD, people are exaturatingg. he talks kinda 'feminine' and its hilarious to me but other than that its a good class to take. if you make an effort to do good, you will. tests are easy, each test +8% bonus pts.
I have never opened the text book that he works out of. He does not check homework. Just write down the problems he writes on the board, those are the ones he uses on the tests. I would recommend it
HORRIBLE!! DO NOT TAKE THIS TACHER!!! Havent learned anything all semester. If you are bad in math i highly recommend you DO NOT take him. You wont learn how to do anything.
Mr.Rajaram is very nice, however, he does expect you to know your stuff from the last class. The problems he does on the board are also on the test. Sometimes the misconfusion but not too often. JUST ASK QUESTIONS
I did not enjoy having Professor Raj; I found him to be condescending and rude. He could not handle if people had questions. While I did receive an "A", it was not because of his teaching style, but rather because I taught myself.
I liked Mr. Raj! I don't get why everyone doesn't. He is a very nice teacher and only wants respect while he teaches. Doesn't check HW and there's 4 exams and 1 final. Easy A. Didn't use my calculator much to compute the answers, which many other stats classes do. Accent wasn't a problem, I recommend him.
Dr. Raj is a fantastic teacher. I had him for statistics and had no problem with his teaching style or accent. What he does on the board is pretty much what is on the tests, so as long as you show up for class and take notes you will pass--easy as that. I would recommend him to everyone.
If you are a visual learner, then this is not the class for you. you have to do all homework, and ask all questions you have in class. If you dont, then he'll assume you know the information. When you do ask questions make sure he explains to you each step so you understand. I would retake him with more focus next time.
Took him for College Algebra. Most awesome professor I have ever had for mathematics. Taking him for appl. calc and stat. He's very thorough with his teaching and if you don't understand, stop him, and ask for clarification(make sure he understands ur question). Actually participate in class, and u'll get it. Lots of nonmandatory homework.
If you don't enjoy math, do not whatever you do take this teacher. He asks questions out load and god forbid you make a mistake, because then he makes you feel stupid. I ended up dropping his class. I didnt have time to go back and teach myself all of the material. also goes about showing you the long way to solve problems
His accent it bothersome. And he skips alot of steps, so to keep up you have to know everything. He makes things seem more confusing then they have to be. If you can keep up with him you will survive, but if you can't you'll be doomed in a cloud of confusion.
All of you commenting terrible things about him are super ignorant. He is an incredible professor who takes time out to make sure you understand, if you ask a stupid question, expect a stupid response. His accent isn't bothersome, and I'm sure your lack of knowledge concerning the english language bothers the hell out of him. Great professor :)
Still the most awesome math professor ever. YOU DO HAVE TO PARTICIPATE. This is Calc, and he expects you to know Algebra. If you don't, you might not follow him, but you don't have to work out the Algebra on the tests. For Calc, he cares about Calc. I recommend doing the hw, it makes things easier to understand. takes time every class to answer ?s
He is a really good teacher. he does skip simple steps so you have to watch his work to keep up. hes the only teacher to offer multiple choice tests and although he does have a heavey accent the tests are made up of the questions he goes over in class.
He is a very good professor. But he moves on very quickly. He makes everything clear so you are prepared for his tests.
I don't recommend this professor. tests were nothing like the notes.
Really bad professor. His teaching style says that he assumes that you know everything. I really don't think he should be allowed to teach.
He was a very good professor, but the subject can be difficult. The teachings were very clear and he really knows his stuff. He is not too hard but gives time outside of class for help. If you show respect and prove to him that you are giving 100% he will respect and help you. I highly recommend.
5 x 100 pt tests make up entire grade. No homework (to submit). Explains chapter, does a few homework questions as examples, assigns homework, next class reviews any questions about homework, then starts new chapter. All test questions come from the pool of homework assignments. Responds to emails, and is very knowledgeable. Would take again.
Dr. Raj is probably the most condescending professor I have ever encountered... and let me say I graduated as valedictorian of my high school and didn't appreciate him acting like I was stupid (especially because I had an A in his class)
horrible at explaining and very hard tests.
I didn't find Raj condescending at all. All of the students who did there homework, showed up, and did the homework (what you're suppose to do) thought he was great.
Can not understand..... Explanations of material is bad.. If you want to teach yourself then go for it..
I found calc. to be overall pretty difficult but having Mr. Raj as my professor made it alot easier to understand. He is always available to answer any question you may have and does not move on until you understand. The homework assignments are not graded but are pretty much the same ones that will be used on the tests!
The class is boring but easy. He does have an accent but it is not difficult to understand him. He is strict about attendance and you only have test grades. All of his tests are multiple choice and he lets you use a formula sheet. I haven't done any of the homeworks, but I go to class everyday and listen. I have an A. I'm not a math person either.
I enjoyed Dr. Rajaram's class. He does everything he can to ensure that no one fails. Two of the five unit exams are take-homes; he typically drops your two worst questions on any given exam; and he gives you a chance for bonus credit. He does assume that you know your College Algebra and Trigonometry, so brush up on these before class starts.
Amazing! That is how I would describe my experience with Professor Raj's course thus far. Tests questions are taken from the homework. A combination of take home & in class exams, curved grading, lowest grade dropped. Lectures are fantastic, he will be very patient and helpful so long as you make an effort. This man really knows how to teach! (AM)
Dr. R is a great teacher. He is old fashioned in the sense that he does everything by hand rather than a calculator, but gives you a formula sheet. He is strict on attendance & gives homework that isn't graded. 4 tests, drops lowest score for final. He is patient but expects you to pay attention also. I think he is fair, but you have to study!
Professor Rajarama is good. He will give you all formulas and the problems necessary to pass this class. Tests are based in the homework problems no more. If you do all your homework, you will be fine. The final test is based the same problems that he gave on the tests during the semester, so make sure to resolve those problems.
Horrible teacher, he's tests are very difficult. Worst math teacher at SPC. He cant explain problems good at all, but he thinks he does. Timing is horrible, He will end up doing half of the next chapter before taking the test on the previous. and he does that every chapter! SAVE YOURSELF AND TAKE WOODRUFF!!!
Despite his difficult and long name, he is actually speaks very clear english. Although I passed his class with a C, if it were anyone else, I would have failed. He is very clear and caring. He will not move on until you understand what he is teaching. His test problems are straight from homework and final are the same Qs from all the tests.
He is really good professor. All of his tests questions are from the homework. Make sure you do the homework even though he is not going to collect it. I'm planing to take him for the rest of my math class as long as I see his name. Trust me.
Great teacher. if you go to class, take good notes, and practice every day after class you will get an A in his class. also speaks clear english
Best math teacher I've ever had. Don't be intimidated by his long name, he is very understandable and thoroughly teaches the content. He works through example questions step by step and asks if anyone has any questions after every step. Come to class and study a few hours a week and this is an easy A but also you leave with an understanding of math
Very technical... Takes the long way to solving problems.. If you like classes that way, go for it. otherwise, do some more shopping
Very difficult, he picks the hard problems for his tests. He barely gives partial credit. Would not take again and would not recommend.
He is concise & knows the subject. He is strict with attendance. He gives good lectures & homework every class. Doesn't check it. 4 tests, thats it. I would recommend him. Accent is easy to understand.
He is very clear and easy to understand. Always respect him dont text of he will call you out on it. Only grades are tests (mult. choice) and questions are pulled from HW probs (not graded). Tests have some small tricks so be prepared. If you study you can get an A
I do not enjoy the way he teaches.
Clear teaching method but I had to drop the class after the 2 of 3 exams. (Also a cumulative final). Pulls probs from HW for the exam, sometimes exactly the same ones but throws in others that are not. Usually around 18 questions per test and he'll curve slightly because the averages are often low. I'm retaking next sem with a diff prof.
Professor does not answer back any emails. Makes the midterm and final worth three hundred points so there is no way to pass the class if you get a bad grade. Class is made up from four one hundred point tests and four twenty-five point assignments. Five extra credit posts worth ten points..you do the math. Save yourself an F, take someone else
I would not take him, not a good teacher at all very confusing and doesn't show any interest in helping you
Dr. Rajaram is an excellent instructor when it comes to math. However, he teaches at a certain standard so if you are not already efficient in math you will struggle to pass. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has an interest in a math related major as he will push you. Also very respectful and expects the same.
He is the best math professor I have ever had. Do not be fooled by these bad reviews, those who posted them must have slacked off in the course! He offers free tutoring on Wednesdays and his tests are multiple choice. I failed this class with another professor, but with him I did great! DEFF RECOMMEND!
I took Applied Calc with him. Uses MyMathLab for everything besides midterm and final. Midterm was very easy (94%) but the final was extremely hard (74%). Midterm and final are totaled 60% of your grade, so you must do good! MyMathLab isn't bad honestly. I would take it again for a higher calc class.
Talk about boring. I thought math was boring as it was but this instructor made it even more boring. All we did was sit there and watch him do problems from the chapter for an hour and fifteen minutes. Also, he never posts your grades online and your grade relies on your tests and the exam.
I received an A. I took him despite bad reviews and regret my decision. He is knowledgable but makes the class feel dumb and as if he is above you. Spends lots of time going over homework and little time for the new material. Would not recommend if you are not good with math.
Uses MyMathLab for the class, completely independent. I did not use the textbook at all. The website uses great examples to complete each question. You generally get 3 attempts on homework, but one on the quizzes. Midterm and Final are hard. Fair grading, but hard class unless you invest several hours a week on assignments.
Very straight forward and direct kinda teacher, he knows his stuff and will not let you shortcut through the class, he is always available if any questions are needed and even does a few hours in the LSC, not a easy class but you learn.
I have taken this professor for several classes. His test reviews are way different than the MyMathLab. Not all of the answers are correct. Very unfair midterm and final. I would not recommend.
Do not take! Finals are different than any of the MyStat Lab. Very unclear on reviews. Does not respond to emails. Worst professor I have had in 4 years.
Knowing calculus isn't enough! You must eat, sleep, breathe, and bleed calculus.
He's pretty easy to understand and a good teacher. He goes over the material well in class and the exams are fair. He's not out to trick you. If you just put in a bit of effort you'll get an A. It's not rocket science. It's basic statistics.
DONT DO IT!!! He is the worst professor i've had in my 4 years at this school. If you have a question he will not hesitate to answer it, but he will belittle you and make you not want to ask him another one. He will not prepare you for his tests, he will prepare you to fail, miserably. FACT! He is the worst Math professor at SPC-tarpon.
Do not do it. I agree with the other ratings. He will make you feel stupid if you ask a question. He will work out a problem on the board and he will do it incorrect and get the wrong answer. If you are trying to learn something, this is very confusing. The whole class was looking at each other like "what is he doing now?" Language barrier.
So there's three tests, including the final, which replaces the lower score of the other two exams. He's a boring speaker and just goes over homework questions and lectures. Just always take notes and copy all the questions he writes because those are the ones on the exam. PS the final is made up of the first two exams so memorize the answers!
You MUST do all the homework problems assigned and attend every class if you want to do well in this class. The content is hard, but he grades the tests very fairly. 5 exams make up the complete grade. He has plenty of office hours and even spends a few hours a week in the library. Speaks clear English. Good professor and a nice guy.
Dr. Raj is a great math professor. I took him in Summer 2008, but I am not getting my PhD at UF, and he really taught the critical material needed. To be successful in this class, you will need to really practice, and study via the tutoring center, as with any MAC2233 class. Just take notes, study, and get go to tutoring. Also, call him Doctor Raj.
I am taking him now and he is tough on his students but he curves his tests sometimes and all of his grades are only tests which sucks. I am taking him again next semester though. he just lectures a lot and all of his problems from the test are usually in the textbook. Just get ready to work.
The grade depends on only 5 tests. Doesn't answer questions well; those he does, he makes you feel like a preschooler and/or stupid for asking. He's said: "in a real university you can't talk to profs after class"; "after this chapter I won't answer any other questions about it"; etc. Boring, monotonous, rude, condescending. Worst prof I've had.
Online: Do not take this professor if you have another option. Grades: 4 points per discussion assignment and per practice quiz(+25 questions), 25 points for each quiz, 150 points for the midterm/final. The practice quizzes in Pearson are NOT the same as MyCourses. The "review" on Pearson is +100 for midterm, +200 for final. He will not create one.
Prof Raj is the best math professor I have had at SPC. He is available outside of the classroom and lays out exactly what he expects from the start. Taking him again next semester for Calc!
He is very fast. Assumes everyone is familiar with college algebra and high school math so he doesn't elaborate much. Do the homework you pretty much teach yourself.
I took his stats class, and regret it! He goes over material fast and expects you to learn it like that. Tests are extremely hard and he doesn't give a study guide; he goes over a review before each exam but it's not helpful. He gets VERY mad when people don't understand and can't answer his questions, and thinks they don't care. AVOID HIM!!!
NO MY MATH LAB. He is a great teacher if you already have a good understanding of algebra. For many sections he will say "you learned this in a previous course" (introductory algebra) and not elaborate anymore. Test are easy if you do the optional homework.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GUY!! His whole class is based on tests. If you ask a question, he will make you feel stupid in front of the whole class. You won't want to ask another question again. If you end up taking him, make sure you go to the tutor. They teach better then he does.
This man is the hardest teacher Ive ever had. He is not good at elaborating or ensuring his students have a full understanding of the material. The homework is optional so you basically teach yourself after he writes on the board for an hour and 45 minutes. I do not recommend
Took his class, expecting a nice respectable teacher however that was not the case. If you do not understand a concept and you ask, he will say "I just went over it what do you not understand" and make you feel stupid. Makes people not want to ask questions! Will yell at you if you use the restroom and accidentally close the classrooom door to loud
There are no homework grades, but the tests pretty much mirror the extra practice test he gives you. He usually goes over the practice test in class knowing those problems makes the tests a lot easier.
Teacher makes fun of you if you do not remember the material taught two days ago. Only thing there is are tests and no hw grades. You have to go home and teach yourself everything. Tests are very hard and worse if you don't study for them. Do not recommend at all. Stares at class when he asks a question and gets mad if no on answers him.
If you ask a question in class, he will genuinely make you feel wrong for asking it" On the first day he said "If I write something on the board and you cannot read it, do not ask. check your lecture notes they are typed online." In that moment I knew he'd be awful; he was. immediately calculate problems or you will be scolded. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Took this class online while out of country and failed because he refuses to work with you and I couldnt take the final out of country. Hes not helpful. Kind of rude, and there are an insane amount of quizzes on top of tests in mystatslab, and additional tests in mycourses so all around a zero.
Great teacher to take for statistics in person, but I cannot speak for taking him for anything else. For statistics: He makes it very very easy. All the tests are multiple choice (scantron), and he has practice tests that are the test with numbers changed. Some may think he's mean, but hes a tough love type teacher. Grade is based on tests only.
Are you naturally bad at math? Do you need extra help? Do you rely on other grades such as little quizzes, homework, etc.? DO NOT take this professor. He is EXTREMELY rude. I took his class on campus but because of the coronavirus, we had to switch to online. He didn't start doing Zoom classes until after we begged. The only grades are tests.
I have never really been the best at math, and I was an IB student in high school but Professor Rajaram wasn't too bad. His lectures are helpful as long as you pay attention to the problems he does on the board. I recommend definitely studying the study guides because they are pretty much like the test. They are multiple-choice, he is test heavy.
In lecture he was extremely RUDE. He would oftentimes pick on students if they did not understand concepts. Once online his zoom lectures were difficult to understand & he graded even harsher w little time frames. Calc 2 is hard as it is & he did not make it easy to understand. test are hard. Expect to self teach a lot. He is best for stats.
The only grades are tests. Do not take if you aren't good at tests. He MIGHT curve by around 5% if everyone fails. Thick accent, very hard to understand. Very rude and impatient. Do not ask him questions or he will get annoyed and call you stupid. His lectures are a complete waste of time. I get As in math and never rated a math professor this low.
Final is worth 40% of the overall grade. Taking this class completely online due to Covid, professor will not adjust his grading scale to adjust to online learning. Ive never struggled this much in a math class before. Do not take if youre not good with test bc thats really all that counts, hwk and quizzes are only a combined 20% of the grade.
Worst teacher I have ever had. The professor seems to get angry and aggressive when you ask questions and he "teaches" off of lecture notes the he uploads beforehand. As he teaches, it seems as though he does not know the material he is supposed to be "teaching". Does not prepare you for any of the exams and assumes you know all of the material.
4 Tests/final were worth 85% of grade and final replaced lowest test score. Tests were mainly half MC, half written response, no curve/extra credit. The questions on the tests were extremely difficult. His lectures don't prepare you at all for the tests. He was very rude and made you feel stupid for asking questions. Half the class dropped.
Don't do it! Save yourself a lot of frustration and take somebody else. He is very impatient, doesn't like when you ask questions in class. He will embarrass you and make you feel stupid in front of everyone. No homework grades - you are only graded based on tests and quizzes. If you're not a good test taker, you're in trouble!
This was the worst math class I've ever taken. Not only was he rude, but he was also unnecessarily difficult. More than half my class dropped. He only goes over easy stuff during lectures, so I had to teach myself everything. Tests were excessively hard and I had to email him more than once for having the wrong answers marked as correct. DON'T TAKE
Took differential equations as a transient student. Dont recommend. Only 4 grades are 3 exams and a final. No graded hw, no practice at all before exams (refuses to review). Lectures are problems nonstop, hard to follow along. Especially on zoom. Only materials r his notes (hard to read) and txtbook. No access to tests after he grades them. Yikes
There are literally no grades besides the tests which are not curved. However, the tests are the even problems in the textbook. If you do not have a strong understanding in math, I do not recommend him. Lectures were lengthy and dull but did help out in understanding the content. Was kind of rude too and did not accommodate well for students.
Midterm and Final make up 70% of grade. Homework/Tests/Quizzes are basically busy work. If you don't understand how to use the TI84 Calculator, or take tests well- RUN.
I have never been bad at math, but Professor Rajaram has made this class unnecessarily difficult. He assigns 3 tests and 1 final for 90% of the grade, and the homework was 10% (just busy work). Someone yawned before class even started and he snapped at the kid for yawning. Gets extremely mad if you do not calculate something within 5 seconds.
Never take him for any math class. His tests are extremely hard if you're going to take math like calculus take Hardies.
Do not, I repeat, do not take this professor. The midterm and final weight the heaviest and are worth 35% of your grade each. There is homework and other tests but they are not worth as much. He is very snappy and borderline rude. Definitely tough grader.
This professor makes the class excessively difficult. The tests are extremely challenging and don't align with the lectures. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for preparing - the practice problems and explanations really helped me grasp the concepts. But overall, I wouldn't recommend taking this class with this professor.
