Very good at getting the point across visually first. He makes good analagies between the calculus of things and how the real world works visually and physically. I would recommend this teacher for an easy A. I got a D in this class at SJSU, now A.

Somewhat of a confusing teacher, but once you get used to him he is pretty good. very dry sense of humor, and very deliberate in everything he says. overall, not bad... i would take him again.

Lalu does not take math, nor teaching math, very seriously. He is often unprepared, and rarely meets his own deadlines. He often skips over critical material and does not assign sufficient homework. Do not expect to learn anything in his classes.

I have very little time or patience for instructurs who approach subjects as mysterioso. This is Lalu. Unprepared and horrid at preparing students for what he expects them to learn. Would avoid at all costs. You will not learn what you wan to learn.

I have no idea what the people on here are talking about. His lectures are outstanding, and he makes sure people know what they are doing. I guess the others were too shy to raise their hand. The one thing about Lalu is he CARES about the students.

I hated math, but ended up liking this class. great person with a kind heart. He brings math into the real word. I thought he kept the class well prepared for exams. No trick questions, and lots of intersting tangents. Very mindfull teacher.

Lalu, more like an earthy Fabio. Gets off in saving the world but forgets to teach Math. Doesn't not explain and is really akward toward questions. 40 kids started. when i finally dropped there was 11. Think about it.

I thought he was a great teacher. He was punctual and informative, and if you worked on the homework and had a question about any of the material, he was glad to answer it in class so everyone could benefit. Would take a class with him again for sure.

This was the first class that I have dropped in my entire life. I absolutely loved math until I hit Simcik - I'm relying on Krause to heal the wounds. Three weeks into the class, I decided that the textbook was worthless because he didn't teach with or even around it

I really liked Lalu, he's one of my favorite instructors so far at Cabrillo. He may seem strange to some student but he has good intent, and he tells what he expects you to know for the test and class in general. Definitely recommend.

This was the weirdest class ever. Very strange guy. He would crack me up at the random things he woudl say and do, so it was kind of entertaining. I couldn't wait to get out every day. I got through it because I read what the textbook told me to do, not what he lectured.

he talked more about random crap than math. the only way I passed this class was having my firend teach me. does answer questions if you have them, but has horrible lectures. first teat is easy,then it gets much harder.

Total Jerk. He does not care about his students success in the course. When I talked to him about a low test score his only response was "Whatever you're doing, its not working." I took 5A at a different school and was behind so instead of offering to help me he just told me to hire a tutor.

ok so he's a lil weird, sometimes has BO, and wears jerseys to class... he is still THE BEST MATH TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! I had a serious mental block when it came to Pre-calc and I ended up ACING it. I felt he taught from a students perspective rather than as a teacher which worked for me really well. totally recommended

This class is not hard by any means. He does a complete review of precalculus, literally tells you exactly what problems will be on tests, and goes over each of those problems the day before. He gives alot of partial credit. He doesnt collect homework. Just show up, do homework, listen and ask questions, and you will get an A.

He assigns lots of homework that he never checks. Do the homework though because he gives lots of quizzes in the first part of the semester. I got the same grade in the class that i got on the final.

Lalu is hands down, the worst professor I've ever had. His class was the first class I was ever forced to drop. Class time is unstructured, with no real lesson plan. He is condescending, doesn't care about his students, and is extremely unhelpful when approached with any questions.

It was a decent class. Lalu doesn't explain the course work very well, but he does take time to explain after class, or direct you to MESA. Do the homework, it prepares you for everything he will give you.

I think Lalu is great. He is hard and requires a lot of work. For math 4 I thought he was more stright forward as far as exams are concerned then he is in math 5a. He's a little tricky and likes to weed people out I think. But, he is pretty cool for a math teacher, and younger, not an old guy

Hated this guy. Very unclear, rambled a lot about irrelevant things. I found it very hard to stay focused in class. He was rather cruel to me and not at all helpful. He didn't understand students' needs. I didn't like him one bit.

HE WAS A GREAT TEACHER FOR ME. HE EXPECTS YOU TO DO THE HOMEWORK (WHICH HE DOESN'T COLLECT). IF YOU DO THAT AND ATTEND CLASS, IT'S FAIRLY EASY. HE TELLS YOU WHAT IS ON THE EXAM BEFORE YOU HAVE IT. SHARING A TEXTBOOK WOULD WORK. HE USES A GRAPHING CALCULATOR WHICH YOU ARE ALLOWED TO USE DURING TESTS SO YOU DON'T MAKE SILLY MATH ERRORS.

i liked lalu. very interested in what he taught. his lectures were interesting and never boring. he was very picky and precise (in a good way). doesn't collect homework but does do pop quizes. does not appreciate when people miss a lot of class. overall a very interesting teacher, worth taking if you are self-motivated.

Lalu is a great teacher and his class if very interesting. He explains problems using real life examples which makes it fun. Very straight forward about what you need to do for his class. Pretty much tells u what's in the exams the day before. Highly recommend taking his class if you are self motivated, ask questions and work with others.

Utterly useless. Hands down the worst professor of any discipline that I hope to ever have the displeasure of being subjected to. His mental and physical disorganization makes it extremely difficult to learn. Unhelpful even in office hours. Has no real syllabus to follow. Scattered. Spends most of the period babbling on unrelated topics. Avoid.

what i have to say is pretty much what the last few people that didn't like him said... extremely hard to keep focused on a 2 1/2 hr class when the teacher is babbling unrelated nonsense and unfunny jokes. also isn't helpful at all with learning the material given. tries to put up this Mr. Mean attitude as well. definitely don't recommend.

Probably the worst math teacher at the school. It is impossible to retain things in this class. The moment he is done teaching a subject, he makes insane analogies that make the subject confusing and unrelatable. Do not take this class!

I already didn't like math to begin with but he ruined it forever. If you ask questions in class he makes you feel like an idiot. Instead of explaing a problem he tells you to read the book and go to MESA. What the heck is that, hes a math teacher....shouldn't he be teaching something. Most students thinks he the worst math teacher ever. I agree.

I didnt think he was all that bad, i've definitely had better and i've definitely have had worse. His personality is a little off but once you get past that he explains things pretty well. Tests are fair and he tells you what to study 1 or 2 classes before.

"lalu" dosent like to teach his students at all. You better know how to teach yourself out of a textbook if your going to pass his class. He assigns homework, then next class will take questions ONLY on a specific part of a problem you didn't get. If you dont get a concept altogether, his answer to you will be to "seek outside help"

Lalu is the best math teacher I have ever had. The negative comments have come from those that didn't have what it took to pass his class. I saw it myself; at least 10 people had to drop cause they were failing but if you commit and try there is no way you wont pass. If you like teachers that relate the material to the real world you will love him!

Tries to intimidate students. Runs his class like he is on a huge power trip. Very vague syllabus. Spends too much time on useless analogies and flat out does not teach the material very well. I visualize about half of the class dropping by the deadline. He takes points off for not working problems the way he insists we do. Utterly lame professor.

WORST teacher I've ever had. He went on and on about how practice makes perfect but refused to offer the class help when needed. When we were learning about Gauss elminiation, he showed us ONE example and refused to do any others. He said, "Once you have one hostess cupcake, you have them all." And said if we needed help, go to the MLC.

He is the worst teacher ever. There were open spots available and he made everyone come to the 2nd class to see if we were serious.So I went and he only added 5 students when there were still seats open.He told us to "hang loose" and wait and see with no guarantees. If you try to ask him a question he makes you feel belittled.Glad I left the class!

Definitly a love or hate type of teacher. i don't get math at all and he was able to explain it well enough and make it interesting enough for me to get an A. if you can't pass his class then ask for help cause he will help if you ask unlike other teachers (B.Krein)that won't even bother. do the homework as well, it helps on tests and quizs

It is true, he talks about everything BUT math sometimes. But he is an AWESOME TEACHER!!! he loves math, and i hate it. However i ditched 5 classes and currently have a passing grade. He will answer questions, and he is very helpful. I actually felt belittle asking questions thanks to the people in my class. But whatever, he is a great teacher.

Lalu should not be a teacher. He does not care about whether his students learn and he cannot be bothered to help you. He thinks he is special because he already knows the material his class of college students has yet to learn. And you WON'T learn in his class. He is downright rude. Avoid his class at all costs.

He's definitely an interesting teacher. Super clear and very proficient at what he does. Knows how to explain things wonderfully. Sometimes I do get the feeling he hates most of us, but I think that's just the way he talks. Would recommend him for any math class because at the end of the day I learned everything I needed and didn't feel handicapped

Does not prepare a lesson plan. Condescending and is not clear. Rushes through sections, and seems annoyed by questions. The only plus is he seems to balance his cons by being a fair, yet inconsistent grader, tells you exactly what will be on the tests.

This guy confuses the hell out of me as well as everyone in the class. I asked him a question about my test and he starts going on about soda machines and pizza unhappyness like its common day speach. And he finishs off by telling me I need to work on my algebra. Which is what he is supposed to be teaching me...he is the worst teacher I've ever had

Do your Homework even though he doesnt collect it. He is a very fair grader on tests. The final answer is not as important as how you got there. He seems like he has little time for you and he will refer you to the MLC rather then teach a second time. Sometimes he comes off as a bit condensending. overall I feel he does a fair job.

Fair grader. Do your homework. Prone to tangents but the dude knows his stuff. If you just listen to what the heck he tells you and do your homework you will do fine. If you do not understand something ask him for clarification during office hours. Fair professor, easy class if you stay on top of things.

Awesome,organized and takes his time explaining. Tells you exactly what is on the exams. Process more important than answers. The class was really straight forward. Personality isnt the nicest, a bit intimidating. Only ask questions if you're bold. Listen to directions, do some homework,and you really wont have any questions.

I'm glad the class is over, but it wasn't as bad as i was expecting after reading all his reviews. It's a pretty basic class if you keep up with the speed. hmwk isnt collected, he litterally tells you exactly whats going to be on the test ( 4 tests & a final). He also grades you on your thinking process and not the answer which is nice.

He is extreemley rude and egotistical, if you need any help go to the MLC first. If you can avoid him and his awful personality the class will be fine. Keep up and attend class and an A is possible. He is a pretty fair grader.

Rude and condescending. This guy thinks he's the poet laureate of math. The only good thing about him is that he's a fair grader. Expect him to be constantly late, spastic and rude, but if you can tolerate that (and teach yourself the material) you'll pass the class.

Dr. Simcik is very reliable. He will always do what he says. He doesn't cancel classes and he gets test results back to you by the next class. He weeds out the clowns from class very quickly and the students who are serious get his undivided attention.

I liked him. He's personable, but not much help when it comes to explaining things. I feel he went off on huge tangents during class, instead of sticking to the subject- math. Depend on the MLC and MESA. Learn how to be independent and do the HW even though it isn't collected.

He is a great teacher. Grades fare and tests are straight forward. He doesn't like reviewing problems he finds simple so you may need to visit MESA for those. This is not an easy class by all means but Lalu did his best to not over complicate it which is why i rated him highly.

Lalu is a great professor for math. His tests are straight forward and nothing is unexpected. He literally tells you what will be on the test you just need to make sure to do enough homework to know you have your stuff down. He is a perfectionist though. He will nit pick little imperfections on take home assignments. Overall good professor.

I like that he won't stand for people's bs. He's there to teach the people who want to learn not just get credit. His tests are more than fair. Nothing is asked that makes you think a step beyond the topics in covered in class.

I had Lalu for Math 152 (Inter. Alg.) If you are planning on taking higher level math, he is probably a good choice for you. Personally I'm not, but I still found his class fair, though not exceptionally easy. There are no surprises on the tests, and that is nice. He seems well traveled.

Lalu is my favorite math teacher: smart, funny, engaging and really loves math . He'll often add extra material that will help you in later courses (eg, row reduction in Ma152). He can be intimidating at times, which explains many of the low ratings below. However, I've never had a math teacher that was more explicit about what will be on exams.

Lalu is a great teacher and he prepares you for future math. He likes more conceptual math rather than applications, so there werent very many word problems. He is a very chill dude that forms a nice relationship with the class. And he NEVER collected hw, which i guess could be bad for some people. but i liked it.

For be a Math teacher is horrible. First of all he is very rude and impolite with his students. While he is explaining a problem he start to talking about another subject. He show the problem skipping steps which is very difficult to understand. Instead to help you to get points in the exam, he give bad points for the smallest mistake. Very rude.

ive heard that some people like him. but he was rude to me. If you can turn the other cheek and let him disrespect you from time to time then go for it, he doesnt check hw, and has horrible analogies to try to explain math. he also talks to the class as if they're mentally challenged. but he is not the meanest ive come across. This guy was very full of himself. He spends a lot class going off on random tangents. He goes through key subjects really fast and will sometimes make fun of students for asking a question. He does give lots of partial credit though which was key to me passing the class.

If you ask him a question, he will probably say see me at break. Which is ridiculous. He talks to you like your a kid, making the class respond to his questions. If he does decide to answer your question on the spot, he will wander off to not answering it specifically. He tries to be funny, not happening. #diagonallley Find another teacher.

He is definitely a cryptic teacher but if you have taken before you should know that. way, but I mean who doesn't. He will not collect homework so it's up to you to decide whether you would like to pass or not. He is helpful but he will recommend you see him during office hour but then again no need to slow down the whole class for just one person

All he does is read from the book, he doesn't explain problems, and if you need help he just says, "I think you need to spend some time at the MLC." Literally the worst teacher I've ever had.

His lectures were well thought out. He often takes the time to make sure students are understanding the lecture and paying attention by making them finish his sentences. He also takes the time to illuminate points in his lecture where the class should have an "aha" moment. However, he makes many mistakes with simple algebra during his lectures.

He is not helpful at all. I asked him for help once and his response was "Well maybe you should take a slower class" and all I wanted was help on one problem. Only reason I passed the class was cause I went to the MLC at least 3 days a week for a few hours at a time.

He doesn't drop your lowest test score. Gives pop quizzes but, they're like 3 questions; if you do the homework you'll pass! Homework is not collected. Tests are somewhat hard but, again if you follow his test guide and do similar problems you'll pass. You know what to expect on tests! Right down everything he puts on the board.

Lalu was the one math teacher I've had that really made the subject understandable. He is an honest grader and is clear of his expectations. He provided an online copy of our textbook so that's one less expense.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. He sincerely cares if you pass or fail and does not hesitate to tell you if you're heading down to rock bottom. Four exams and a final, the first two don't require as much as the last two. The final requires a ton of studying. He cracks old jokes, but if you try to get them they're actually funny. 9/10

Great teacher! Math 5A is among the most challenging classes And yet lulu managed to explain it in a way that is very easy to understand. A Huge majority of your grade is compromised of Exams however this is a good thing since the exams are straight forward and VERY SIMILAR to the pop quizzes, in class examples, and the homework.

I liked Lalu a lot as a teacher, and felt I learned a lot during lecture, but come test time it didn't matter. He wasn't lenient with grading, and I felt unprepared for 5b after his class. It's always frustrating when you like a teacher but feel let down by them education wise.

He seems to care about what he is teaching but his lectures seem to be hit or miss for some students. He is a frustratingly tough grader, requiring you to show work that you have been taught to leave out over the years. He is a tough grader, which is frustrating because he doesn't assign much work. Iff he works for you he is great, if not, drop.

This is the class that makes me want to drop out. He treats us like children and I couldnt tell you anything that were supposed to have learned. I think he likes feeling smart by making us all feel dumb. This is the most frustrating class Ive taken and Lalu is the worst teacher Ive had.

First few weeks are extremely hard with Lalu and make you want to drop out. After getting through them it gets easier as long as you take organized notes. Doesn't check homework. All tests are just the examples he puts on the board. He's huge on pop quizzes, they're basically given every class. His "final" is this worksheet you work on all year.

I agree with other people saying Lalu makes others feel dumb. Math is a tough subject for many people and no one should be made to feel stupid when they're trying to learn. I had to teach myself because his lectures were no help at all but attendance is mandatory. Huge waste of time if I'm teaching myself anyways!

Lalu relates the subjects to real life examples, and I found that to be super helpful. He made math interesting, and was one of the reasons I decided to pursue it. He assigns homework but does not collect it, but I highly recommend doing the work (at least the parts you feel unsure about) anyway because, well, this is math class after all.

Lalu is really smart, but sometimes he just doesn't do enough examples on the board for you to really get a good grasp on some of the concepts. He doesn't provide study guides, but instead he gives a list of priority topics which have seemed to be very accurate so far in the first three exams. Overall, I thought that Lalu was a pretty good teacher.

Lalu's lectures are really hit or miss, most of the class time is spent on random tangents about things that very loosely relate to the lesson. Leaving a lecture feeling like I got a grasp of the material was very rare, I ended teaching myself most of the material. On top of that he is super condescending when people have questions.

Dr Lalu is, umm, an "unusual" individual. His lectures are, at best, tangential to the topic being covered. One or two of the examples he works in class are on point, but much of the time he rambles about unrelated topics. When questioned, he seems to get really defensive. I'm uncertain of his mental stability.

He is the embodiment of a "dad joke". He provides a free textbook and does not require HW so it is really up to you to practice. but it also doesn't make you stressed about turning in something could be review for you. Tests easy and very clearly explains what he expects you to do. One point off for saying rhetorical questions and waiting for ppl.

Despite his corny jokes, I thought Lalu's class was easy to follow. As long as you try to keep up with the material, you'll be fine. He seemed like a real nice guy just trying to spread his love for math. Grading is only from the test grades, which was nice, because it leaves it entirely up to the student if they want to do well in the class.

Hit-or-miss professor. On the plus side, he's relatively thorough in his lectures and tests are more about the actual concepts than the algebra. However, he comes off as extremely condescending (hostile?) and unhelpful when asking questions, especially general ones. Do NOT take for summer if you can't put in the (ungraded) HW time. You WON'T pass.

Lalu is officially the worst professor I've ever had at Cabrillo. He spent upwards of 40 minutes every class telling stories that were fully irrelevant to the topic at hand and that made barely any sense. He explains things in over complicated and confusing ways that barely help, and he rarely listens to any form of criticism. Downright horrid.

Lectures were hard to follow due to him going off on random tangents. Almost every question posed by a student is answered with "see me after class or go to the mlc" which is ridiculous considering it's a 3 hour class. He only grades on tests, so if you have difficulties with test taking you're doomed to fail because nothing else will balance it

**Uses free textbook!** Lalu is unlike any math teacher I have had previous. His teaching style was one that is grounded in the concepts. He cuts through a lot of less useful mathematical material that other teachers make you learn. He gives the big picture and lets you engage your imagination to solve.

I've taken a lot of calc classes through UC and AP and I thought he was the best math professor I've had yet. He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to get an A or at least pass. He always takes time to answer questions and make sure you understand the material. There are pop quizzes but if you keep up with the HW you'll be fine!

If you are someone who struggles with conventional teaching styles, this guy is for you. the way he teaches is honestly so refreshing bc even when he's in "im in sweats and dont give a f" mode he still genuinely loves the math and believes in you. Another thing I liked about Lalu is tha the halo effect doesn't work on him so just be yourself.

Lalus a decent professor, a little sporadic but you'll definitely learn your stuff. Pop quiz almost every class, randomly assigns turn ins, and goes off topic CONSTANTLY. His exams are almost identical to his in class examples so make sure to go over them before exams more than the textbook hw.

I do not recommend this professor. He will teach you one topic during class and will go off-topic and talk nonsense for the rest. He does not go over the homework. The homework is not graded, except for specific turn-ins that he does not help you with. He refers students to the STEM center to get help instead of helping them.

To start off, I would like to say if you ever see the name Lalu Simcik RUN. He was the worst professor I've ever had at Cabrillo. Not only are his lectures completely off topic, but he expects you to understand the material right away and if you have any questions, DON'T he will not answer them and will make you meet him during office hours.

The online summer course requires full time effort. Put this class before everything. Lalu is straightforward and tests are predictable. But he grades very harshly. The key is to do the tons of ungraded homework. Math is my worst subject and I was able to get a hard fought A. After school help is required for A. Use online, classmates, and tutors.

If you show up, do a few hw problems, study priority topics, no hand waving, and show your handwork, you will get an A. Veer off the trail and lalu will say BAH, see me ASAP! I'm no math wiz but this class was an easy A, he will give you the questions he puts on the test on a priority topics list the day before the exam. But beware, he's a rambler.

Lalu's class was necessarily hard. I feel like he made it a point to purposely make it hard for his students. He was very paranoid about his students cheating and anything missing from your work would result in him accusing you of cheating right away. he would also single students out and somewhat bash them for not understanding or asking questions

I really liked Lalu for this class. He gives extra homework beyond what's necessary, but if you do those challenging problems the tests feel easy. He tells you exactly what will be on an exam, gives you necessary formulas, and if you practice and study they're very straightforward! Never felt like anything came out of the blue. Nice guy

Lalu is by far the worst professor I have had at Cabrillo. 25% of our midterm was based on a plugging and chugging 13 variable values into a purely algebraic equation and performing a ration test. This is so unbelievably inadequate to test our knowledge of the topics covered so far in this class. The entire class has been a joke.

I honestly don't know whether to like or hate Lalu's teaching style. Almost every class theres at least 5 minutes of silence while Lalu reads through the textbook, so the lectures seem to be illy prepared for. It is helpful that he tells you exactly what to expect before each exam, but exams do make up nearly your whole grade.

I have had Lalu's classes for 3 semesters (MATH5A, 5B, & MATH7) Show up to class (zoom)and TAKE NOTES. Online sections are taught synchronously and require you to be on zoom ALL of the examples he gives can and will be on his exams. You know exactly what to expect on his exams. I recommend Lalu for all your math classes.

READ okay so I took this class preCOVID, and let me say this, you will either love him or hate him. I have always been good at math so I understood things fast but ive seen him shoo away kids during breaks when the need help. he is so intimating and not good at helping students. BUT he is amazing at letting you know whats on the exams no surprises

He's an incredible success; doctorate in applied mathematics from Berkeley, Air Force veteran. Always clear in the lecture, very easy to follow. Has "a" when the Bucks won the championship, for example days & "b" days, but good guy.

Keep in mind, I Took SUMMER class online so his style was dif. Extremely fast paced(learn 1- 2 new sections everyday)Lalu forces you to realize what areas you need to improve on. Some people see him as intimidating, I thought he was just the right balance of nice,joking and stern. Exam reqs VERY clear. Lectures beginning course good,End Not So Much

This guy blows. Dont trust anything good you read on here because its either fake, or written by someone who does not care about their peers. He is accusatory towards his students. He will single you out in front of the entire class if you have a question (or are even having technical troubles). Classic case of teacher who seems to hate teaching.

Preachy, condescending, talks to hear his own voice. Class had zero structure yet the professor was a hard$#!. Huge rambler, rarely got through more than 3 problems within 2 1/2 hr class! Would NOT take again. Teachers like this is why the math department has a bad rep.

You will love him or hate him. He's an unusual teacher, it took some time for me to adjust. He's very straight with you, 0 confusion on why he's teaching the way he is + what's on tests. He falters in terms of helping students, instead redirects to the STEM and MLC instead of pulling aside. Sick policy is rigid and unforgiving. Great to talk to.

Lalu was an intriguing person. He does not grade homework, but it is intended for review (makes sense). There are some weekly quizzes designed to assess whether you are truly studying or not (I loved this idea because it would motivate me to actually study). Tells you exactly what will be on exams, which is amazing. Fair and sincere.

He doesn't grade homework, it's instead used as review. He uses pop quizzes based on the homework to benchmark your understanding. His tests are excellently designed, he's amazing at giving exactly 60 mins of questions. He respects your abilities and doesn't give underhanded problems. Each exam has an assigned long problem which is graded.

His homework is not graded and quizzes are a minor part of your grade. Your grade is based off of tests and the final which are all straightforward (he provides a review sheet with almost identical problems to the test). He is hard to seek help from and pushes student towards the stem center. His material may not prepare you for multivariable calc.

I've taken three separate math classes taught by Lalu over the years, including elementary algebra, calc 1, and calc 2. A lot of students seem to be dissatisfied with his philosophical ramblings and historical tidbits, personally I love them and I think they help ground the material. He's a fair grader and as long as you do the work you will pass.

When he does talk about math, it is very informative and he does a good job explaining the theory, but he has a tendency to ramble about irrelevant stuff. Unhelpful during office hours. Has an ego. He is late to every class. I'm convinced that he would rather be skydiving in Italy during a lightning storm than teach this class.

Lectures are long and he does tend to ramble a little bit, but shows up with a good attitude and makes contents very applicable. He does not grade homework, but does have popquizzes that cover what the homework covered and makes it known these quizzes are happening and when. Didn't hate the course but didn't love it, easier with prior trig/precalc.

Miss 2 classes and you will be dropped. Doesn't post anything on canvas. Assigns lots of hw but doesn't grade it so u don't have to do it. Basically goes over each thing once so hw is helpful to lock it in. Gives study guides for each test which is helpful.

Prospective students: BEWARE of Lalu. He is basically unreachable during office hours and instead refers everyone to STEM centre/MLC for extra help. Doesn't use a Canvas page, so all content is taught off his messy notes. There's a reason why there are always open seats in his math classes and other instructors classes are often full/waitlisted.

Run!!! Lalu is so bad that I thought multiple times about packing my stuff and leaving but I didn't want to be rude. Messy handwritten notes on a projector. Long ramblings about nothing that has anything to do with math. Does not help students. Has no way of communication except for a cell phone call. Only refers you to stem Labs or mlc.

NOTICE: He's retiring soon, here's some advice. I took him awhile ago; heard from the grape vine he's now projecting notes, iirc this is due to an arm injury. Super informative and clear when lectures about math. Rambles, but I always found it quite charming and fun. It will be easy if you put in the work, the professor can't fix that for you.

Lalu is a tough but fair professor. His exams are well-designed, and he's great at preparing you for them. Try using Unstuck ai alongside the textbook - it really helped me stay on top of the fast pace.

Least considerate teacher I have ever had. If you miss 2 classes, you will be dropped from the course. I missed 2 classes due to an emergency. When I showed up to class again, he talked down to me until I cried.
