Very sweet woman. Her lectures come straight from the textbook. She gives easy tests. No homework. A couple of easy quizzes. Lectures are boring. She can be funny sometimes and really tries to help you learn the material.
Very hard to understand. Reads straight off the board and doesn't try to provide examples to help you fully understand concepts. A lot of studying outside of class in order to do well. Basically had to teach ourselves outside of lectures.
I never took statistics going into this class. The problem is that it's mainly lectures and she doesn't really go over problems in depth. She is very helpful though! if you ever have trouble her office hours help a lot.
She's a tough grader, wants things to be done her way and doesn't understand why students struggle in her class. She tries to present the material in an easy format but it ends up getting confusing. You'll need the access code but don't bother getting the textbook, you'll never open it.
She is the sweetest lady ever and she is so funny! The class is something you have to work on your own to learn but once you get the concepts it isn't bad.
Dr. Korayem is great. She is super helpful if you go to office hours. She drops your lowest SPSS assignment and homework. Also, if your final exam grade is better than your lowest test then she puts the final exam grade in for the lower test grade as well. If you show up to class, it should not be too difficult. cheat sheet for tests.
This class was very easy for me, but I also had already taken stats in high school. Her powerpoint are posted, but YOU WILL GET LOST if you skip class. That goes for almost all math classes as each class builds upon the past. Tests were scored out of fewer points than questions, so she gave a nice buffer. also allowed to use a flash card on exams
The only reason I did ok in this class was because math is pretty easy to me and I'm good at teaching myself. Mondays we worked in the computer lab where she gave us a handout with instructions for us to figure out on our own. In lectures she read word for word from the power point. We didn't do examples or hands on work. 3 tests & drops lowest HW
Although my rating is not the highest, I recommend Professor Korayem. She drops a lot of grades, and she listens to what her students want. She is very considerate and always avaible.
Prof. Korayem was neither spectacular or awful. Just fine. She is a difficult grader but offers extra points on most of her tests. There is always homework to do, whether it be a weekly SPSS assignment or a worksheet she assigns for next class. She can be a bit frustrating in class as she expects everyone to know every answer, but it's manageable.
Dr. Korayem is considerate and wants her students to succeed. Her accent creates slight difficulty when she's teaching, but she goes off of her slides so you'll know what she's talking about. Overall easy course and made easier by her because she does want you to succeed.
She cares about what the student thinks and she really helps you understand the material in her office hours. Her lectures are kinda boring and daunting but overall good professor. Attendance is not mandatory, however, you will fail if you don't come to class.
Most confusing professor ever I swear. If you have never taken a stats class DON'T take her. I have taught myself everything because she just confuses me more. She is a really nice person just not a good professor.
She is absolutely precious but goes through lectures very fast. A lot of online homework that can be time-consuming, but it is good practice. We are not graded by much in the course, only like 2 tests and a final (and the homework grades). She is very funny and a nice prof, but def could improve her teaching skills a little bit more!
Professor Korayem is really sweet but sometimes all over the place. There are lots of online HW and SPSS assignments but they're all relatively easy. Not mandatory to attend class but it helps when going over certain things. She's very caring and wants all her students to do well so tries hard to make sure you understand a concept.
MATH220 is a really hard class just because the content is hard, but she made it a little easier. I've taken this class twice now because of the difficulty, and I think she is the best professor for this subject. I highly recommend!
Prof Korayem is seriously so sweet. Math 105 is not very difficult so if you read the book and do homework you'll be fine. While prof korayem tends to go pretty fast during lectures, she is more than willing to work with the class to figure out what we need. tests and quizzes are very straight forward and she sends out study guides before them
She's a good teacher and very lenient with grading and wants students to do well. You have 4 skips but she has labs randomly on the most inconvenient days, which I missed 1 and it brought my grade down 8 points. The material is easy unless you struggle in math. The tests are relatively easy. She gives a lot of online homework but its easy.
MATH 105 was somewhat hard. The professor was not the best in class teacher, but going into office hours helps SO much. She is so easy to persuade for extra grade boost or additional help in tests such as a notecard, word bank, and all the formulas. You just have to ask her for something you want and email her a bunch. There are definitely worse.
Professor Korayem is a sweet lady. However, she is hard to understand. She is not very good at explaining topics. You will sit in class and she will just flip through a PowerPoint. She curves her tests which helps a lot. You have lots of online homework and reading quizzes which are very annoying.
Professor Korayem is the sweetest professor at JMU. She cares about her students & wants everyone to succeed so she gives so many opportunities to boost your grade. Attendance isn't required but for my class she let us drop our lowest homework or quiz if we were absent less than 5 times. She also curved my grade without me even asking. Love her.
Professor Korayem is so kind. She really wants to help her students but this is a hard course. You REALLY need to attend class and pay attention when she solves problems. Her tests aren't too hard but she's ridiculously specific about how to write your answer. Not a bad professor for this class but there isn't room to slack at all.
If you are looking to pass Math 220 do not take her as your teacher please. The year starts decently with not too much going on until exam 1 WILL kick your butt, you think you did good on the test until you get it back and she announces your grade to the class. Awful teacher and I wish I had taken it with ANYONE else. Good luck and stay away.
I had Professor Korayem for both MATH 105 and MATH 220 online. She is so incredibly sweet, smart, and pretty funny too. I found the concepts in both of these classes to be easy to grasp. MATH 220 was a little difficult for me because it is a learning system (Hawkes) that grades all of the work and teaches you through modules that can be tricky.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken in my ENTIRE life. Professor Korayem is nice but her tests are hard as hell because she is a nitpick grader. If you want to actually pass, take this class with literally anyone else. The tests and assignments are so unclear and difficult. The number of times I cried because of this class is ridiculous.
One of the most inconsiderate people I have ever met. She comes off very kind but isn't helpful and will be passive with you. Such a nitpick grader and you only have 3 tests (that includes the final!). Take this class with LITERALLY anyone else.
I took MATH 220 online and it's the easiest class ever. The homework Hawkes assignments account for 25% where its an easy 100. The SPSS projects are easy and she's super lenient. Exams questions are nearly identical to the practice questions. She also dropped the lowest hw grade and discussion thread. Overall I recommend taking it online. Easy A.
I had her for online Math 220 and she is very considerate about due dates and expectations. You learn from an online textbook with problems. If you have taken stats before, it's cake. I recommend!!!!
She is nice but struggles so much with conveying information. She would announce assignments that werent on the syllabus the night before they were due or announce a virtual class 12 hours before the meeting time that wasnt even the class time. Sometimes she will respond to emails but otherwise dont expect an answer at all.
Professor Korayem was an amazing professor. She is super sweet and you can tell she really cares about her students. She was very helpful when it came to tests and extra credit. I definitely recommend her and her class!!
Prof. Koreyam is super sweet! However, the graded for accuracy homework is a little annoying.
Prof. Korayem was a good choice for 220 since being online she was pretty respective of the pandemic and the grading criteria to help you do better. Three SPSS group projects and she even dropped the lowest one. Even though the class is mainly through Hawkes learning you get a hang of it.
Dr. Korayem is a fantastic choice for 105. Everything we did for the course-- readings, in-class activities, and homework felt relevant and they definitely helped me on exams. She's always available for help, drops some of your bad grades, and even allows you to have notes for exams. For webassigns, USE THE WATCH IT PLAYER, it helps so much.
She cares about her students but kinda reads straight from the slides. I found that I had to teach myself most out of class, but be sure to go to class because she takes attendance by doing polls about the examples you learn. Also be sure to put effort in SPSS projects!
Don't take her, just don't. She is a very nice and caring person, but not a good professor. Her tests, homeworks, and group projects are incredibly difficult. She read straight from the textbook & my friends and I had to basically teach ourselves. I'm retaking with different professor right now and it feels like 5th grade compared to Korayem's.
Took class during covid. Decent amount of HW, but there were multiple submission attempts. Complicated group projects, but she would fully explain them in office hours. For exams, she let us use a "cheat sheet" and would hint during lectures what kind of questions would be on them. Really enjoyed her class and it prepared me for other math classes
Four exams, kind of hard. She uses CENGAGE online which is where the HW is and RQs, it was $115 but worth it because she allows for multiple attempts which benefits your grade. She doesn't understand how to use Canvas because she wouldn't excuse my grade for when I was out for having COVID my grade was low for awhile but she dropped it eventually
Very difficult teacher, doesn't provide great material
Prof. Korayem doesn't prepare you well at all for her exams. Cried at least once a week because of this class. The only "easy" thing about this class is the homework because you get 3 attempts.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Her class is in person but she always goes over time and just shoves things at you. No one in my class knew what was going on. Her office hours are on zoom and not helpful. Failed her class, DO NOT TAKE. Terrible experience for my first semester at JMU
I thought this class would be a breeze because I have always been good at math, but she made it much more difficult than it needed to be and is unnecessarily rude when asked questions. She also took forever to reply to emails if she even did, and did not care if we had problems with the group members that she assigned us.
I really don't know why so many people are writing her bad reviews. She purposely makes the tests easy and there are sooo many assignments to bring your grade up. She is very sweet, isn't rude when you ask a question, and cracks dad jokes a lot. She is one of the better choices for 220 in my opinion.
Professor Korayem is a phenomenal instructor and has always been kind, thoughtful and caring. Disregard the negative reviews, as she gives many opportunities to learn the material and improve your grade. Attendance is mandatory, and there is weekly homework and reading quizzes due. Have some self-accountability, and you will pass easily.
Rushed through lectures each class, & while a question will take her 10 mins to do she will give you polls and only give you around 2 mins to do a problem (which is worth a grade). She also gives group projects and those were awful (in my experience) because I got awful partners. If you arent good at math, avoid her. This whole class seemed rushed.
Not my favorite. She tries to do way too much in one class. super overwhelming. Difficult to follow along with. Group projects every 2 weeks. Tons of HW. DO NOT TAKE ONLINE
I love this woman! I took it online and it was pretty easy. Sometimes she gets flustered because she has an agenda for class and when people don't pay attention or aren't following she gets backed up but nonetheless always so nice! Assignments aren't too hard and she is an angel who really wants students to do well. I would so take the class again!
This professor moves too fast especially online. It is very difficult to keep up. There is hours of homework at least twice a week. Then after the final exam she completed deleted the class off canvas and had locked our grade for the previous 2 weeks prior. Leaving students with no idea of their grade and no idea of their grade on the final.
Professor Korayem was awesome! The way she taught the class is great for people who like to pace themselves. She does two-three short reading quizzes a week and weekly homework. She goes over the reading quizzes and does practice questions through poll everywhere. The exams are easy and short and her SPSS projects are groups.
There are a lot of assignments during the week that boost your grade if you do all of them. Easy class if you do the work and go to class
Took this class in high school, the material is easy to understand especially if you spend time outside of class to learn it. However, this professor is probably one of the hardest graders I have ever had in my life. She marks things wrong even when they aren't. Then when you ask her about it in class she does not have an answer.
Lots of hw but it helps a lot. Lectures are really fast and hard to follow but as long as you can pay attention and take advantage of the work its a great class.
Professor Korayem is an amazing professor. There are 2 reading quizzes and homework each week but it is definitely doable. She is super helpful, understanding, and flexible as long as you communicate with her. I would 100% take her class again. Lots of group work and easy in class assignments.
I have a 96%.We have 3 exams, "quiz" every week which you do at home and you get 3 attempts on it, 3 attempts on the hw as well. The first exam we got a notecard to bring w us and she gave formulas. We have group projects that are super manageable. If you ask her a question abt projects she will help you set it up correctly. I def recommend
Full disclosure I am not the best at math at all and didn't receive a stellar grade in the class but if you are taking MATH 220, take it with her!!! She does tend to talk a lot, but she's incredibly sweet, funny, and caring. If you try to stay on top of the homeworks and go to class you'll be set
She is very sweet and actively tries to engage with the class. She offers office hours, and answers emails quickly. I had taken a pre-stats class so I was already familiar with the material which made the class easier, but overall she does a good job of making sure her students understand the material.
Professor Korayem is very caring in regards to her students success in her class. She drops several grades at the end of the semester, and tests are easy if you pay attention. She gives you tons of resources for success and answers emails very quickly. There is three group projects but she gives tons of help on them. I 100% recommend taking her.
Professor Korayem makes class both engaging and comical. She moves fast, but does a good job at getting through the material that she needs to go through. There are lots of in-class assignments, so attendance matters! Overall, a really great professor!
Prof. Korayem posts everything on Canvas, including lecture summaries, exam outlines, etc. Participating in class really helps, and sometimes she'll give random extra credit points. Most assignments are on ALEKS, says she doesn't accept late work but if you ask, she's very understanding. She also allows us to have a flashcard of notes on exams.
I love Professor Korayem so much. She was always very helpful in class and if you participate she is not afraid to hand out extra credit points. Yes the SPSS projects were extremely annoying, but as long as you actually do the Aleks and participate then you will be fine. She made stats my favorite class last semester and I hate math.
I can't believe any of the negative comments. I genuinely haven't enjoyed a math class in my life. I actually learned, like actually, and retained everything. She does have an accent and does talk and move fast BUT it's because she gives you LITERALLY everything you need to succeed. Only 2 exams and a final with very helpful detailed study guide.
She so sweet. Can use a notecard on exams. Very detailed exam outlines. Many attempts for Aleks HW quizzes homework never more than 15 questions each. It's impossible not to get 100% on those. Semi-flipped teaching style, we do the section HW quiz at home and then quick review lecture next class. Then engaging participation polls and practice. EC!
lets you use a notecard for exams, always open for office hours, & really cares about her students. Lots of work outside the class, but it really helps you prepare for exams. Would recommend !
She's a sweetheart. Very funny and cares about her students. Great professor, she answers every single question you have in depth. Definitely a great professor and you should take her if you can. There are group projects which can be time consuming, but not too difficult. There is a decent amount of homework but it's manageable.
She really cares about her students and will help you with whatever you need, but at the same time if you don't show up it'll be hard to figure out how to do everything.
She was an entertaining and energetic teacher who provided many assignments to boost your grade and balance out test grades. Her tests are not too bad if you study, and she gives many office hours. Attendance is basically mandatory because of the in-class assignments, but her class is really fun to be in. I highly recommend her!
This was one of the worst professors I have had at JMU. She was not helpful at all when it came to questions I had, and the tests were extremely hard and a large percentage of the grade.
Prof. Korayem is very nice, but, her class can be difficult. She can be hard to understand and goes very fast through lectures. I had to reteach myself basically all of the material because her teaching style didn't help me learn. She over complicates the material that she teaches. If you take her I'm sure you'll be fine,
She is so nice and funny, math is so hard for a lot of people (including me) but she is so caring and offers a lot of extra help. She is very passionate about math and makes class interactive. Homework can be tricky though!
Professor Korayem is caring and will always take the extra time to help you if needed. The class is challenging and there is a lot of homework but if you know what your doing it only takes like 20 minutes. You do group projects often so going to class is mandatory if you want a good grade. If you go to office hours and class you should be okay.
Professor Korayem is a very sweet lady, but sometimes her lectures can be a little hectic. She goes very fast at some points and jumps from thing to thing. She does make sure you have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and assignments to understand the material. She also gives a notecard for every test, so it evens out.
do not take this professor. she seems nice, but doesn't know how to teach. when I was in the hospital sick, I asked to take an exam at a later date since I was in the hospital, and she said if I didn't show up i'd get a zero. shes very strict with her rules, just be mindful. i also had to re-teach myself everything.
Super caring and genuinely cares about her students. She does go a little fast but always stops to ask if it makes sense and if we have questions. Lecture heavy, but she is so funny that the class flies by. Allowed a notecard or printer paper cheat sheet on every exam, she genuinely wants everyone to succeed! Go to class and you'll do fine!
I liked Professor Korayem. She's very kind and funny, which keeps you engaged. She also tries hard to make sure her students understand the material. It's a lot of homework, but most of them are simple and quick. I had never taken stats before, but I left the class with a great base level understanding. I wish I could've gotten her for MATH 220.
Prof. Korayem is amazing! She is so funny and really engaging, also super helpful outside of class hours. I've never enjoyed a math class before, but this one I did. Highly recommend!
I love Prof. Korayem! She's so funny and cares. The bad reviews are from people who clearly don't put in the effort. This class takes maybe 1-2 hours of my time/week outside of class. Tests are the same as examples and you get a notecard. She does go fast, but it's manageable if you try. Group work and in-class activities are chill. Take her!
Good teacher, but group projects were redundant and useless.
I don't think she would be able to pass her own class. It is not a very difficult class however she somehow finds a way to make everything extremely difficult and fails to understand even the simplest of issues. Good luck getting clarification on anything or figuring out why you got a zero on an assignment you completed and turned in.
LOVE Korayem. She cares about her students, is receptive to feedback, and is accessible outside of class. There are a couple of useless assignments, but her lectures are efficient, she posts all her slides + class recordings, thorough study guides, and guided notes. Take advantage of the resources you're given and you'll be fine.
I can't say she is a good professor but she's also not a bad professor. Most of the assignments are busy work. If you don't go to class you'll loose points. She does give detailed study guides for exams and allows a note card. She is accessible outside of class however in class it feels like you learn nothing her just repeating back to you the text
Prof. Korayem is a very caring lady who wants her students to succeed. Heavy course load with reading quizzes and homework weekly, but also it helps boost and cushion your grade. 2 midterm exams (which are pretty lengthy for 50 mins) and a final, but she allows a notecard on midterms and a sheet of paper for the final. Pretty easy class, personally
Professor Korayem was kind and knowledgeable, she always came to class prepared and used the lecture time wisely. The class is very homework heavy through aleks and there are alot of group and independent projects for spss but you get to pick groups. Overall, recommend! best stats experience.
Takes forever to grade exams and isn't great at responding to emails. Class is decently easy if you understand the content. She also would take forever to post an assignment and still keep the due date the same. Overall it was fine, just annoying.
The workload for this course is heavy but if you do it, attend class, and pay attention in class you will be fine. The lecture notes/slides are straight out of the textbook. Uses Aleks for homeworks, so many chances to get a 100 on them easy grade booster. Explains SPSS very well and does it along with you, gives points back on tests. TAKE HER!
Nice person and very understanding, but talks very fast and hard to learn from...makes my brain hurt
She's a very nice lady, but you will not learn a single thing from her lectures. She talks and lectures extremely fast and you will be teaching yourself how to do assignments and SPSS activities. Attendance is mandatory and she makes its really difficult to miss. She's a harsh grader and takes off a lot of points on small mistakes.
Korayem is so kind and understanding. She uses a teaching style where you take notes on the chapter before coming to class so you have a knowledge base before her lectures, which I found very helpful. Going to her office hours especially for projects was a lifesaver. She tells you exactly what to fix and is so patient. Highly recommend!
This class is heavily lecture based and there is lots of alex homework. There are only 2 tests and 1 final. All the tests she lets you have a notecard.
This is honestly the worst teacher that I have ever had in my life. She is so sweet, such a great person don't get me wrong. She is very funny, and class is entertaining because of it. However, her teaching is so bad that I had to hire a personal tutor to even receive an 84 on a test. She talks/goes over material way too fast. Do not recommend.
Professor Korayem was not a horrible professor; calc is just hard. She gives credit if she can tell you are trying, and there is lots of class work, so you could potentially do poorly on the exams, and your grade won't be too affected. Go to office hours because they really do help. Do all the class participation because it will extremely help.
amazing, wants students to pass her class. Gives lots of assignments (super easy, doesn't take more than 30 minutes) to help boost grade. Isn't a harsh grader and lots of assignment's are graded on completion. answers emails fast, and drops the lowest exam grade and 2 lowest assignments in each category at end of the semester. lots of extra credit!
Great professor, she lets you have notecards on midterms and an entire paper on the final. Can be hard to follow during class so study a lot outside of it. Didn't read the actual textbook but needed it to complete homework. Worst part about the class is using a website for homework.
She wants you to participate in class, get things in on time, and listen to her instructions. This class was a breeze b/c of her. She tells you exactly what will be on the exams and final, and you're allowed to use a cheat sheet for all tests. I really enjoyed her and her sense of humor
Professor Korayem is incredibly sweet, I enjoyed going to her class every day even if I'm not the best at math. Every once in a while she'll go very fast when teaching a lesson, however most of the struggles in this class I blame on myself, she's accessible outside of class and her office hours were very helpful for when I need help.
I am actually so bad at math it's not even funny. I ended with a C+ only because of how amazing professor Korayem was. Usually I fail all my maths but she was very considerate with personal issues and is always willing to work with you if you ever need help. If I didn't miss a couple assignments it could've easily been a B but thats just cuz of me.
Very kind professor. She wants the best for you. Homeworks are significantly easier than the test. Test are nothing like the homework. Not a harsh grader. Gives multiple group projects.
Prof. Korayem is nice, but has many methods that don't really make sense to me and if you slightly disobey them you'll get a 0 for the assignment. We have done ZERO work on paper all semester (tests/assignments are online and you type out your work) so if you do better on paper with math you may struggle more in this class. 3 tests incl. the final
Her class was truly amazing and I'm so grateful to have had her as my professor. Shes very clear on what she is grading and how she wants it done. Shes super sweet and I recommend going to her office hours because she was even more helpful with the SPSS projects.
Prof. Korayem is the only reason I felt competent at math. she broke things down well, offered a lot of outside help, constantly asked and listened to student feedback and allowed extra credit and a cheat sheet on exams. I would absolutely take her again if i needed another math credit.
Doesn't answer emails and posts homework/opens assignments on random days; overall, disorganized. Throughout the semester, she constantly forgot her class was only an hour, but would not adjust her lesson to suit that time better. Instead, she would rush through the whole lesson and would lecture up to or past the class time. Nice, but messy.
Goes through everything very fast, can be hard to understand at some points, attendance each day is a 3-5 question quiz that she counts out of correctness. cares about her students but you end up having to teach yourself basically everything on your own since she goes so fast
I had her for 205. She has good notes and lectures and is willing to work with what students want. She is a great teacher if you are willing to put in the work as well. She is pretty funny as well.
Very funny, lots of homework, hard class.
She doesn't take attendance but there are quizzes at the end of class that are counted for attendance. few topics that aren't taught well and you have to teach yourself. if you show up, pay attention, and do your homework youll be fine. that being said she rally does care about her students and will work with you
Do not take her, brutal grader and seems to be a nice person but teaching is poor at best, had to learn everything outside of class, highly advise against taking her class
She was great, very funny and willing to help if you need it. there are 2 tests and a final, she curves if the grades are bad. There is a online textbook and a good amount of homework, but definitely helpful for tests.
Prof. Korayem is such a kind person. She's very funny and very easy to communicate with. Lots of ALEKS homework and out of class assignments. Doesn't outright take attendance but there are in class activities that she counts as an attendance grade. Gives out extra credit and typically a note card for exams.
Wants her students to do well. Good sense of humor. Open note quizzes every class, can correct during office hours. Cheat sheet on test. She tends to be lenient with extensions if you email her. Main drawback is the pacing of the class--all over the place & unorganized. She isn't the best at responding to emails. Funny and good Professor though
She's cool, and if you have an issue just make sure to communicate. If you don't like group projects, sorry, because there's about 3 or 4 for the class, but worth it's 7% of your grade. There is homework and reading quizzes on every chapter. The only thing that irked me was that the exams are on the computer and it's hard to show your work up there
I would not recommend this course unless you are already very strong in math. Lectures move at an extremely fast pace, with concepts rushed and poorly explained. The professor often mentions not having enough time, which shows in the quality of instruction. Daily quizzes heavily impact grades, heavy accent. DO NOT TAKE
Prof. Korayem is amazing—she makes everything so clear that it's hard to struggle (and I'm not mathy). Tons of extra credit, no busy work, and while there's lots of homework and daily quizzes, they're easy, open-note, and fixable in office hours for full credits. Cheat sheets for every test. She's funny, engaging, and I'd recommend her to everyone.
