This class is set up as half from the book and half online. If you are looking for a somewhat easy instructor, this is the instructor to take. I think a little over 30% of the class received an A in this course. This instructor does not spend a lot of time teaching the material. She prefers group work. If you want to really learn the material, you
Easy teacher. She lets us use 1pg of notes on tests and 2pgs of notes on final. Final was awesome. We got review packets and the final mirrored the packet. Of course problems changed a little (but some did remain the same), but if you understand how to do the problem, you were golden. This was great since final was cumulative and 20% of your grade.
Cool class, failed twice before taking this instructor. This instructor gives lots of practice as well as reviews before exams. Interesting group work and online homework help you cement the material. If you want to learn and scared of math, take her class.
Took her hybrid last summer so the class went fast, but I was able to pass the class.I hate math, and I had previously dropped the class two times before because the instructors didn't help. online homework and you can email her with questions. She reviews for tests so that was very helpful. She gives you a study pack before the final and if you do ev
Good teacher - explains clearly and is very helpful. Also, she gives practice problems that thoroughly prepare you for the exams. Nice person - I wish all of my teachers could be like her.
Just take her. She is easy grader. She gives you blue packet and all of the question comes on the test. Just study the blue packet. You don't have to read the book for the test. She provides tons of extra credit. All the assignments are on Mathxl. There are four exams. Two are in class and other two are in Mahtxl. I got A in her class. Take her.
computer assignments helped a lot. variety of ways to earn points. I like that 2 exams were online and we could review our mistakes after due dates. have taken this class twice before, had to drop because i wasn't understanding any of the material.
enjoyed the class: everything was great!!! Professor never rushed us,but kept on schedule.Explained hard problems either in class,or after class.Comp.assgnement was very helpful and we could do them as many times as we needed to get the material.Loved the class. Highly recommend!!!
She is a great instructor. Very helpful and offers alot of extra credit opportunities.
I was scared of math before taking this class, and I was able to get an "A"!Had to work hard, but learned a ton!!!Thank you for your help.
great teacher. very helpful. gives lots of shortcuts and explains why it's done the way it is. I wish i could take her for math100/120.
Worst teacher EVER! Not helpful & easily frustrated. Easiest & most pointless class in my 7 yr undergrad & grad studies career. Easy A/B depending on your effort. Tons of EC & no book. Rick Ross would have been better @ explaining Probability than Lana...
This was a good class. We used math Xl and she is a very fair and helpful professor. She is definitley not the wordst professor ever. Honestly, the others on here are that say she is, are really TRIPPIN!
I have EXTREME difficulty with math, I failed in the spring and retook this class in the summer. She was more clear than my past teacher, her accent is thick but I managed to figure it out. Don't ask complex questions because you may not get the answer you want. Tons of Math XL work, no book work. I think she's a great teacher if I managed to pass.
The class started too easy, just as the instructor told us on the first day of the class and became more difficult but still fine. If you do your homework on time and ask questions, you'll be just fine. Handout reviews are very helpful to focus on preparing for exams. Thank you for a nice summer class!
AWESOME TEACHER. CLASS EASY, BUT NOT TOO EASY. STILL CHALLENGING. LOTS OF VALUABLE INFORMATION TOWARDS THE END SUCH AS HOW TO FIGURE OUT INTEREST RATES, MORTGAES, ETC. REVIEWS BEFORE TESTS AND FINAL HELF TO DECIDE WHAT WE NEED TO STUDY. PROFESSOR IS REALLY HELPFUL IN CLASS, AND RESPONDS TO EMAILS QUICKLY AS WELL. I LIKED THAT WE COULD IMPOVE H/W SC
Great professor overall. Actually cares about students. She went over and over same types of problems that most students had problems with.I finally GOT it on the third try!I was terrified of math but with her I learned to enjoy math!Don't listen to the angry. You won't learn if you don't do the work!I loved her teaching style. I'm taking her again.
I took this class to help my kids with their math. Lana explains how to apply math in everyday life, which was fun and helpful for the whole family.I did extra credit assignments in grocery stores with my kinds figuring out best deals, affordability, price per unit.Online homework was fun as well-as Lana suggested we did each problem on paper and then
great teacher
She's cool, explains you different ways to solve problems. You can use your calculator as an aid, but you need to understand formulas and how to apply them. Extremely helpful during her office hours.
Math is not my strength. She's a good teacher and allows for extra credit. You need to know your formulas. I liked that our homework was done online and we got immediate feedback from the site if we did it right.
She was our sub for two weeks.I like her style and the way she makes sense out of formulas. If I fail this semester, I'm definitely taking her next semester.
I loved her class! It was so much fun! She makes the subject interesting and easy!I had no problem passing this class!
great professor, interesting class
Nice teacher. Qut of the book we did about 8 chapters. Online quiz per chapter (unlimited attempts), 3 exams (If offered online 2 attempts), and 1 cumulative final. Extra credit opportunities. Must be in class to recv in class work done at end of class. Allows 1 page of notes. Don't need book, everything mostly online. Easy class.
This hybrid class was great. Lana's teaching make things a lot easier to understand. She makes a lot more sense and explains things quick and easy compared to the book. Online homework, online reviews before exams, occasional paper assignments, 2projects, 2 online exams and 3 in-class exams including the final.I would recommend this teacher.
Class has a LOT of online hw. But you get endless attempts and the 2nd and 3rd tests are online 2 attempts. the first and last test in the class which are in class you get a page of notes. the last half of class gets pretty hard if you arent great at math. Math isnt my strong suite but I still passed. Lots of extra credit. Teacher isnt very helpful
Lots of work. lots of extra credit. Not a terrible class but teacher isnt very helpful. Mostly everything is online.
This was my third semester with this professor (failed the first two - my fault). Challenging class, but this prof. is the best I had for math. She was available outside her office hours for questions as well.
Great teacher. Keep your notes. I'm using mine, 2 years after I took this class. Highly recommended if you know you need statistics for your job or degree.
this was an easy and fun class for me, even though I'm not a math whiz.Would take this professor again for my other math classes.
Great teacher. Class notes are a lot easier to understand than the text. I have a new appreciation for math now. Highly recommended!
A lot of extra credit...but some of it disappears. She drops the lowest test and replaces it with the final. Grade fluctuates dramatically, which makes it hard to determine how one is doing in the class. Recommend trying another professor.
One of the best professors I had, very helpful and caring teacher.
ALways prepared, explains well. Summer class was fast paced so don't get behind and study exams in last minute. gives practice exams. Homework online. Great professor, take her.
TOOK A SUMMER CLASS, GREAT CLASS, BUT GOES VERY FAST. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND DON'T FALL BEHIND, ASK QUESTIONS IN CLASS AND YOU'LL BE FINE. GROUP WORK AND IN CLASS REVIEWS HELP A LOT. I LIKE THAT HOMEWORK WAS ONLINE AND YOU CAN WATCH VIDEOS AND SEE EXAMPLES. PROFESSOR REVIEWS HOME WORKS AND ANSWERS LAST MINUTE QUESTIONS BEFORE EXAMS.
I just finished with her summer class. Besides the fact that her voice is pitchy, her teaching style was ok. She's a lenient grader. Didn't like that we had online tests and hwk. She's also very big on group work so choose your group wisely.
I took her hybrid class this summer. I was very nervous taking this class as this is my second attempt at statistics. I understand this Prof. a lot better than previous and actually came to like statistics. I finally passed the class and I'm looking forward to my upper division stats in SacState. Thank you!!!
Take home tests. Allows notes on quizzes. Very good at explaining. Drops lowest scores. Gives extra credit. You really have every chance to succeed in this class, and Lana is a FANTASTIC teacher.
Great teacher - the best math teacher I had at ARC.
I loved her handouts because it made everything easy to understand and what was going to be on the tests were clear. Expectations were clear & doing homework every week helped prep you for the tests and quizzes. Explains things well. Not a super easy class but if you give it an honest effort, you'll be fine.
my favorite math teacher at arc so far. Took this 6 week course over the summer and did better than last semester.
She is very good. She is trying to help you, when you have a questions. There is a quiz at the end of each chapter, 1 midterm and 1 final. The class is not hard and not easy. Do your homework, attendance is mandatory. We used mymathlab as a homework, it's very easy to get 100% on the homework.
Great proff. explains everything better than the book and makes connections so it's easier to remember. She walks around during practice time so If you shy like me, you can ask your questions without speaking out.
Not a bad prof... Had to work hard for my A, the only prob is that if u dont understand something ur screwed, most the times she just ends class 20-30min early, always in hury she will never stop for ur question, u can forget about the Office hours, i can easily say that over 30% of students dropped class within 3 months, light accent
this prof. taught the last 3 week of a very fast 6 week summer class. The class felt a lot more alive and hands on with her. She explains the concepts and gradually have students try on their own, and she helps those who need it. I don't think I'm passing this semester but I felt I understand better when she took over. If you work full time, take a
Taught the second half of the summer course. It's nice that she can individually help you when you're working on examples. make sure you know how to do the problems she gives on the study guides. Kinda wished that she had went through more examples.
Awesome prof. She guided me through two classes this semester. I really appreciate her help, tips, and visual tricks with math. Fun, understanding, quick grader, fast feedback. Great experience!
I like her she is helpful and accommodating. For example, we voted as a class to have exam pushed back and she was okay with it. Pros: Notes are allowed on quizzes, grades not entirely dependent on exam grades, 1 page notes on in class exams, she is laid back.
Don't get me wrong, she's a nice lady but she does not do anything to help her class. She might be busy with other classes at her computer or behind the desk at the math lab but she does not converse with her class other than a "Hello everybody look at the board!".. I wanted to like her but she does not care about her students, including me.
This prof helped me get through two classes this semester, and I'm now working through the third. She checks with everyone during class time, and if you say you fine she lets you keep working. I mentioned that I had difficulty with a concept, and she asked what seemed to be the problem. Think about it this way... and she draw a diagram that visua
If you smile and attend class, then you'll get an A. Oh... Do the homework too!
Wonderful teacher, very helpful , encouraging, and kind. I learned a lot this semester.
Avoid at all costs. This class is perfect if your really, really good at math. But if you slid by math 120 with a B, then this will be extremely hard for you. I spent hours and hours on the assignments every week and still had huge problems with the professor not explaining the concepts throughly. I had to struggle through... but you should avoid!
This was a difficult class, but this professor made it manageable. Her handouts are great, and there are study guides and bonus credits. You have to work to get through this class . I took this class before with a different prof and had no idea what was happening until i failed. I recommend taking this with prof. A.
taking this summer 6 week class and it's very fast pace. I realized how much i learned after talking with a friend taking same class at another college. I was able to help my friend with his calculus and even tutor him. You need to keep up with daily assignments and study as this class meets 5 days a week.
Great professor and great class. If you in class and take notes, you don't have to read the textbook. Just practice your homework and make sure you understand what you are doing. Ask questions. Then you do well on quizzes and tests.
This class is extremely difficult, take the time to study and use the LRC building. attend the professors office hours as much as possible and be prepared to study, i did over 72 hours of studying to receive my grade, on the bright side she offers some extra credit and multiple chances on quiz. do HW and quiz's in the LRC w/tutors and you pass.
Ms. Lana did a great job teaching math342 last semester and I'm using her handouts to study for my class now. Comparing her teaching style and my current prof, I wish I took the class more seriously and committed last semester. She offered a lot of extra help, and explained about the class and what it takes to get through.
she's a mixed bag. gives you study guides for exams, for a few of them will let you bring in a notecard with definitions and formulas. relates ideas to real life. some of the study guide content was stuff we never went over in class. she never tells you if homework is due. can be unhelpful and even laugh at you if you don't get the concepts.
Great prof and class. I learned more from about math in this class than any other of my math classes. If you keep up with your homework and ask questions, you can learn a lot and do well in class.
my second time taking this class. Prof Lana is caring and keeps me on track. She helped me learn. I'm looking forward to my second semester.
Great prof, very approachable and caring. Make sure everyone understands and ask questions before moving on. Available outside of class and answers email fast. Reasonable amount of homework. Real world applications.
as someone who always struggles with math, prof Lana offers help outside of class and study sessions before quizzes and exams that are very helpful. She is also easy going and explain material with different examples and points of view, and give practice with real life applications. Clear grading criteria and no curve balls. Homework online
Prof Lana's class was def a challenge! I was literally on the brink of failing. You're allowed to make one test correction, she gives you a study guide very similar to the test but it was still hard and she usually allows one sheet of notes. She was very lenient and often extended due dates. You'll def have to earn your grade in this one. Goodluck!
Great Prof. my first experience at ARC and it was great. Not only she helps with material in class and outside of class, but also she helped me understand how college works and how to succeed. Lots of hands on work in class, reasonable homework, some quizzes on homework, 6 chapter exams and the final. Everything spelled out in the syllabus. A+!
a two-semester course with a greatest prof. Always supportive and helpful, giving easy examples and explanations when needed. Group focused class with a lot of tutoring support outside of class. Make sure you go to tutoring and do take-homes (1-2 pages) and online stuff and you can do great. She supported me through all my ups and downs. Take her!!
Not a great experience, Prof seems to be bothered by you asking questions and is very condescending. I have emailed her 3 times and have received no answer. She takes attendance at the beginning of class and that seems to be all the work she wants to put in.
This is my third class with Prof Lana and I believe she is part of the reason I keep going. She talks to every student during the class and she is encouraging, and sometimes tough on you to keep you focused on your final goal because we might get lost in the process and easy to give up. She truly cares about your success and wants to help get ther
She is awesome! If you think she is a bit tough on you, it's because she cares. If you like me falling behind and not getting it, as long as she sees you trying but struggling, she helps you. I couldn't pass my test and was ready to give up, but she just sat down with me and went over it, and made it crystal clear what I was doing wrong, and I pass
I chose to take Statway because I couldn't get through Algebra. The Statway program changed me a lot including my thoughts of math. I also gained a lot of confidence in my ability to study and progress through math. This professor also helped with my math anxiety.
great prof, highly recommended. Good advice, help thought out the course, takes time to talk and answer questions, fast email response. If you are stuck on a module test, talk to her and she takes time to help you figure it out. I hope to take more of her classes in the future.
Take this class if you need statistics!!!!!!!! Great prof., very supportive, tutor after class, and other time slots specifically for statway students. I thought I wasn't good at math before I took this class with Prof. Lana. She kept telling me I was good, and now after finishing the program I believe I actually am. Take the class a
This was my second class with the same prof. Prof. Lana was the reason I finished this class. I was ready to give up, but she encouraged me and helped me set up a plan to catch up and be confident in my ability. She kept checking in and made sure I stick to my plan. I am already set up for my next class and I wish I could take it with her.
Ms. Lana is a wonderful professor who cares about her students. I always struggled with math, and this was my first class I did well. Well organized, good pace, a mix of group and individual work, doable amount of homework, reviews for exams, chapter exams, and the final. Do your part and study and ask questions, and you can do well in class!
Lana is a nice lady but hard to understand. She has a heavy accent, making an already challenging subject even more challenging. She doesn't explain things well enough, and I had to go online often to figure things out on my own. I'd recommend another professor for math, this is a subject where you want to get the best professor you can.
Prof. Lana is a great prof and explains tough concepts really well. I took another prof last semester and after failing that class, didn't expect too much but I can understand what is going on in class, and can do my algebra. You should take her, and ask questions. She likes to help people. She also offers extra study sessions.
One of my best teachers. She's great at explaining concepts and is very nice. Respond fast to emails. keep up with the homework because it can pile up easy if you do not and you will regret later. I would definitely recommend her!
Amazing prof. She made me like math and not be afraid to try. I feel more confident now. She is also funny and very approachable. I love some examples she brings to class and also explain how life outside of classroom works and how math fit in. Totally recommend!
Ms. Lana is one of my best teachers. She's great at explaining concepts and is very nice. Offers help outside of class. Respond fast to emails. Doable amount of homework but keep up with the homework since it is hard to catch up if you get behind. She encouraged me to keep working and get better at concepts I struggled with.
I was so bad at Math before I took her class. I had gotten D's in so many different math classes with so many teachers but I managed to get a good grade with her! Very generous grader and very kind!
Well organized class.A lot of hands on work in class. Prof. answers questions from the homework at the beginning of class so do not be late. Gives you a schedule with the exam and quizzes scheduled so you can plan ahead. Not too easy class but doable and interesting. Do your homework!
Seeing as Calculus is the mathematical study of continuous change, I should have been less surprised when this professor decided to change grading weights in the middle of the semester and deviate from her syllabus.
This prof was great. I took online class this summer with another on-campus class and working, not realizing how much work it would take. She encourages asking questions and responds quickly. Homework is online, both problems and discussions. She drops quite a few lowest scores and offers extra credit. Also page of notes for the exam. Do reviews e
I was afraid to take STATS 300 because I'm not very good at math but Lana made it as easy. She gave lots of extra credit all throughout the semester and was easily accessible by email. She graded all the work in a timely manner. We had 2 exams that were worth 50% of our grade and they were almost identical to the study guides she provided.
Wasn't the greatest professor. Took her 8 week hybrid class. Showed up Saturdays from 9-1. Every question someone had she responded with you choose my class and would continue to teach. If you needed help you would have to ask a class mate quietly because if she heard you she would ask you to be quiet. Would not recommend this professor.
This is my second class with this prof and she is the best math teacher I ever had. Listen to her feedback because she actually looks at your tests, then makes individual suggestions. She can feel demanding at first, but she actually cares about students' learning and sets high expectations. If it wasn't for her, I would dropped out, but I'm ok n
Ms Lana is a prof who really cares and wants you succeed. She will help you and challenge you at the same time. Besides math, I learned so much about myself from this class. She helped me boost my confidence and ability to persevere when I encounter difficulties. This was a great experience. I never though I can get an "A" in math, especially on m
This professor is great at stats, but terrible at teaching it. The in-class work, the homework, and the tests DO NOT match. Her test questions are useless. Off the wall. If your answer is off by .001 decimals, because you rounded too early You will receive 0 credit. She Doesnt answer questions or check for understanding. I could go on...
This lady is a gem. Very friendly and cares about students and their learning. Her assignments are homeworks online, short low stakes quizzes on homework usually weekly, group assignments, fun puzzles, review quizzes before the exam. She goes over every quiz in detail. 4 exams and the final. She comes early before class to answer questions. Her adv
I don't think I would pass this class if it weren't for this prof help. She made a hard subject more simple and straightforward. I have always been bad at math, and I passed with an "A" I can't even believe myself, as to how much I learned. Encouragements and support from the beginning make such a big difference.
If you want a professor that's going to, make sure you understand material, responds to student questions in a timely fashion, and is overall just everything you would want in a professor KEEP LOOKING. Lana Anishchenko is a terrible teacher. She has no real teaching method and just forces you to watch videos that could be found on YT. I could go on
Does not respond to emails. Did not help me. Her class requires to much work.
This was my second semester taking stats. I appreciate how the class was structured and I learned a lot about stats and about myself. An online class totally brings out your weaknesses. I cannot believe I had fun learning especially considering the pandemic. Prof was very responsive and understanding, and help ed answer my questions.
Really well structured online class with everything you need to succeed if you put in your time and effort. Weekly assignments, suggested pacing calendar, emails ones or twice a week with reminders, quick replies to my questions, variety of different assignments and great feedback. I also appreciated study suggestions that professor incorporated i
Take this class if you want to learn and need help. Prof is very helpful and I learned a lot. Weekly updates and reminders. Even with COVID-19 when the whole college didn't know what was going to happen, Prof took time to update and she kept us informed about all changes in the college policies till the end of semester.
Ms. Lana is one of my favorite teachers at ARC. She was really helpful and explains things easily. There is a lot of information but she always answered my questions whenever I was confused about something. She is a great teacher and super organized, and I learn time management, organization and perseverance skills too.
Prof Lana was great. She made herself available via zoom for individual office hour meetings to help me with questions I didn't understand. Her practice exams are nearly exactly like the actual exams different context and numbe, so if you study, you will do great. Homework is mystatlab and canvas which I really liked. Would take her again anytime.
Prof Lana is great. I met with her via zoom and she helped me understand a lot of topics. Her practice exams are close to the actual exams, so practice and study and you will pass this class. This is the hardest class from 300 level math classe and I didn't pass last semester with another professor and I was able to do well even with the pandemic g
One of the best math professors at ARC. Quick email response and relatable. She is flexible whenever she can or already has an option built in class syllabus. She offers to help even if you not asking, wish more professors were like her. One lecture section a day and homework, practice exam similar to the actual exam so do you work and ask question
Statistics is not an easy course, and requires to put in time and effort, however, Prof Lana made this online course simple and clear. I had to study, and follow the modules, but it is set up to make students successful. Homework allows multiple attempts, and there are practice tests available. Clear grading. I recommend this course for stats.
Took a summer class. It was fast and I had to work hard but expected, and everything is spelled out for you, no surprises. Several weekly email reminders, day-by-day schedule that you can follow. Just stick to it and you will get to the finish line. Fast grading and feedback. At the end, I did much better than I thought I would. Do extra credit too
Professor Lana is great! She takes time to answer your questions and makes sure that you fully understand it. Gives feedback on quizzes and discussions! Don't hesitate to ask your question. She replies to emails pretty quickly and is flexible with office hours if you cannot come during regular hours she offers to schedule a
I took prof Lana last semester for math 300. The class set up was great, and prof answers questions quick. There are short paper and online quizzes, bigger quizzes before exams, and 4 exams. Extra credits for each exam that added at the end of semester and can bring up your grade if you are close to the next letter grade. Very organized and caring
I never saw her in zoom and the class is basically going to Statcrunch and doing the work for the week (highly advise that you spread it across the week). You can cheese the program to get a good grade but the class was soul-draining, as it just reading and typing answers into a box. More of a computer teaching class than with a person teaching you
I had to retake this class since I dropped last semester with another prof whose class was a nightmare. I knew it was a difficult class already, but this prof took time to meet with students at at the beginning of sem and explain about the class and what is takes to succeed. She also asked if we need anything else. Well organized, posted video solu
Well structured course designed for you to succeed. You need to put in effort and time you need, and you will do better than you think(I did). Do not skip videos or you will spend more time on google /youtube. There is enough info about everything you need. Ask questions. Prof replies fast, bunch of low scores dropped at the end, extra credit too.
Not being online person, this was a difficult class for me but I'm grateful for this professor who inspired and helped me get through. Ms Lana answered my questions and even found me tutorials for my calculator (there is a different calculator recommended with videos for it on canvas) and also made some videos for the concepts i had struggled.
Typical math class. lectures aren't too bad. Don't take if you aren't too comfortable learning some topics on your own. 2 Hw assignments a week on mymathlab, 4 exams plus the final, and a few discussions/quizzes here and there.
I took this hybrid class online with weekly meetings and I want to say that Prof Lana actually cares about her students. I was doing ok until I got sick and she emailed me and asked if I needed help. I though I could manage not realizing I was getting so much more behind, so she stayed with me even after the meeting to make sure I understand and go
Took her class online cause of covid and it was a math with support class. The class was difficult for me because I'm not the greatest at math but when I didn't understand something she would offer to do a zoom call to help. Even the assignments themselves had a help tab that broke it down word for word and step by step so it was fairly easy
I took this class over the summer. It was obviously fast, but went very smooth. Professor sent emails twice a week to remind about the weekly load as well as suggested daily assignments, answered emails quickly, and offered extra help if needed. There were plenty of practice to prepare for exams, and exam time was plentiful, extra credit offered as
If you struggle in math I would HIGHLY suggest that you don't pick this professor. I asked her during class time if she plans on teaching us a lecture because she has yet to teach us anything and she responded by saying "There isn't enough time to teach a full lecture." She also expects the tutors to teach you but won't teach anything herself.
This prof. course has been a good experience so far. I am not great with math, but the setup of this course is good. Students use MyLab along with prof videos on canvas, and few assignments due every week on Sundays. Also some discussion posts were actually fun. Lecture videos are helpful, and many tools to get help! Make sure you check emails.
Honestly, this class is basically a self paced class. You do everything at your own pace but you have to meet the deadlines. If you need help, shell send you to one of the 20 tutors that they have. Theres lotsssss of homework so dont procrastinate. There are 6 tests and the final is worth 60% of ur grade
Helpful and positive! Video lectures are short, the homework on Math Lab helps guide you through the problem, and if you need additional help the tutors are available from 9am-9pm on zoom. You have plenty of opportunities to retake exams.
If your looking to take math 300 i recommend finding another teacher. She says that she's available through email and will not answer you for 20 days or after sending three or four emails to her. So far she's been a pretty lousy teacher and I think she needs to go back to school and learn a thing or two herself.
She is very hard to get ahold of even during office hours and she is not very clear about her grading criteria and it just makes you so confused. Everything is almost based on group work which sucks because my grade also dropped drastically because of the group work. When she talks its almost a whole lot of nothing. I wouldn't recommend her!
She's very nice and I had no problem understanding her but her class wasn't easy. Math is hard for me and I definitely needed a tutor to get through her class. She provided very helpful study guides which made her exams a lot easier for me. Beware of her quizzes though! I almost never did well on those.
Not being online person, this was a very difficult class for me but I'm grateful for this professor who inspired and helped me get through. Ms Lana answered my questions and even found me tutorials for my calculator (there is a different calculator recommended with videos for it on canvas) and also made some videos for the concepts i had struggled
This class was based on group learning and two weekly zoom meetings with prof. I enjoyed how the Professor broke things down in a way that we could understand. Statistics is new subject for me but, and I will need it for my future career. I am so thankful for flexibility for our class. One of the best professors and classes I have ever taken.
Professor Anishchenko is a great teacher and really helped me understand how to actually do math in this class and in general. I highly recommend taking her class in person especially if you are someone who struggled with math or have an anxiety. She's very approachable and understanding.
Professor Lana is a great teacher.I am someone who struggles with math, but I was able to do well in this class because of the well-organized class. This class have several assignments per week, unlimited attempts on homework, 2 attempts on most of the quizzes. Some extra credit assignments.Midterm exams and the final are very similar to practice exams
I wanted to take class in person but this prof only taught Statistics online with zoom meetings, and I am glad I took her. I am terrified of exams, and this class does not have exams. There is homework, a few quizzes, and you build up a project in steps throughout the semester and present with your group for the final. It was great to work with oth
My best math prof at ARC. I took stats before and had to drop because everything was so confusing. I am glad I took this class. Some group learning assignments, and you get full credit just for working with your group. Homework, few quizzes, and a semester long group project that you get to turn in by parts that can be redone according to feedback.
Professor Lana is very nice and also cares about her students. She also posted the workbook files on canvas for free, so we did not have to spend money and purchase the book. There is homework, quizzes that can be redone, and as long as you pay attention, those were straightforward, and a group project. She was also helpful outside of class.
Lana made statistics so easy. She is the best professor and I recommend her to everyone. If you have dropped other statistics classes because they were too hard, take her! Even the students struggling in my class had a B.
Her grading is very strange. My classmate and I turned in the exact same assignment with the same answers, and she received a 90 while I received a 65. One of my classmates really struggled with the course, and she was extremely condescending and rude. She used humiliation tactics rather than being curious about his situation or offering help.
not clear with grading instructions, very hard to get a hold of and offered no feedback on work. I would often get marked down on assignments and she would never provide reasoning for the low grade. group work does not work unless your entire group is willing to participate. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, not a good professor.
Good professor. You have to be ready to do homework every day but it's not super hard. If you reach out to the professor she will help you. Make sure you show up to the meetings with your classmates in your group, it helps and it's part of your grade. Easier final than just taking a test.
Make sure you do all homework or you will not be credited for all units. Too much work online and in person. No lectures. Asking for help leaves you more confused. Attendance is mandatory or you lose half credits. Forced to work with group of her choice, even if they don't show up or help group work! Class didn't like her. Made friend cry!!!!!!!!!!
The work the professor gave was pretty easy for me. Unlimited attempts in questions, the only problem is that there have been questions that the videos provided do not go over. You will have to use the internet for help, but rarely do you ever have to do that. Lots of HW, practice quizzes similar to exams.
NO. She may be accessible at first, but she stops replying to messages for days regarding assignments that you need help on. And then they're due and you're left STUCK. Group project with 7 parts. Tests. Quizzes. Collaboration (have to do the work together). It is not asynchronous, as it says it is. DON'T DO IT. Ruined my GPA.
I wanted to take in person with this professor but she only teaches stats online this semester.I was happy with the class and work with other students on your own time. I am scared of exams, and this class had project instead. There is hw and quizzes, and a project in steps Prof is available via zoom-just ask! And you can redo some parts
Good prof but you have to do your part and work for it. Group collaboration might be frustrating at times if your group doesn't care and wants to do sloppy work, then you find yourself behind on material and projects but talk to professor - she offers a lot of help. With professor help,I was able to catch up finish the class with a good grade.
Took the professor's math 300 online course last spring. Get ready for a long lecture, but VERY informative YouTube videos. All of the class notes are based on YouTube videos, make sure to copy down EVERYTHING into your notebook to have access to use for tests. Lots of writing in this class, do all the work and you'll pass.
Absolutely not empathetic. I explained my situation as a working adult and that making all these deadlines (with NO late work acceptance!!) was very difficult and caused me to miss out on a lot of points to make the grade. During OH are, couldn't explain things at all. Would just tell me to "research more." like lady that's your job
The class requires a lot of work, but professor Anishchenko is helpful if you reach out. Collaboration with classmates can be hit or miss. I found Unstuck AI and the free textbook to be great study aids alongside the group projects.
If you're looking for a math class with little to no group projects, a professor who is easy to communicate with, and easy to understand assignments do not take any classes with this professor. I was forced to do a whole group project on my own after my whole group dropped out of the class which lead to me receiving an F
Highly recommended.
No! I am not recommend this professor to any student. She is not a kind and caring professor.
I really liked how this course was taught, and I feel it helped it be one of my favorite courses. It was well organized with online lectures. We had multiple tries at coursework before the homework was due and then we had just the ability to check our answers as we went on the homework.
Exams are somewhat straightforward. Lectures are often confusing, immediately giving us groupwork, usually without going over examples first. Learned mostly from the hw. Slow to respond to emails. Also doesn't allow in-class work to be made up without notice.
took the class over summer. Well organized and straight forward. Prof answered my emails within a day. Do practice assignments and they help do better on the tests.
