Great professor! Public Speaking is a course that most people dread taking. However, Prof. Iapicco knows her subject well and makes the class very interesting. By the end of the course, every student in class had improved. You will need the book for quizzes and tests.
Best teacher EVER. Please take her class. We learned how to give a good speeches while having fun. Easiest teacher in the entire world. Please take her. Fun while learning.
She's one of the best professor's ever! Her class definitely isn't boring. She cares about her students. As long as you show that you care about your grade, she is there for you. Her quizzes are super easy and most of the time she would let us do them at home or open book. I definitely recommend her!
Professor Iapicco is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. She makes class fun and breaks the ice amongst everyone so it's not totally awkward speaking in front of everyone. Her tests and quizzes are open book. You learn so much from her. Take her for this class!!
Ms. Iapicco was amazing! She was helpful and provided good feedback. Her lectures were informative. She was clear about what she expects from the class and what the tests would cover. VERY Fair! Expect Fill in the blank tests.
She was a great professor! I loved this class. Makes the atmosphere comfortable and is very supportive while you are doing your speech. She really wants he students to succeed and she will give you great advice. I was not a confident person but after this class I am more confident with my public speaking.
amazing professor, could not have imagined a better one for public speaking. took her 6 week class and it was the best choice. she is very caring, gives students quiz answers the class before every quiz. there are 5 speeches. she tells you what she expects and just do it. shes amazing and class is easy if you do the work. shes amazing take her!!!!
For a public speaking teacher, I'm glad that I picked her. While she isn't 100% clear on what she wants for assignments. She is very kind and caring and wants the best for her students. I was afraid to take public speaking, but I made a bit of effort and got an A. Would recommend her to those who need to take public speaking.
Professor Iapicco is amazing. I passed her class with an A. I have an accent, but it didn't harm my grade. If you need help just ask. There's a mid-term,final, 3 speeches, 1 essay and 1 group presentation. If you do you work you'll pass. Also you have 4 quizzes but they are home take quizzes and the mid and final are based on the quizzes.
Hands down the best professor for Pub Spk at PHSC porter. Super intelligent, knows how to inspire you to get over your fear of public speaking. No judgment allowed once you walk in the class. She does not play when it comes to respecting others in the class, everyone I talk to "hated" Pub Spk. Most of my classmates "loved" this class by the end. A+
This professor is pretty good. You will give a few speeches, but they are not overwhelming. The class itself is an easy A as long as you show up for speeches and turn in anything that's due. The book is not needed, and midterms and exams are straight from reviews that she gives out. In summary, good teacher, no reading, a little boring, but easy A.
She's very understanding for people who are afraid of speeches. Its a college class, simply do the work and you'll get an A. Shes looking for an effort, and if you provide that in her class, you'll be just solid. Three speeches, one essay, and one group presentation. As for the final, just study the quizzes, which are also take-home.
She came in two weeks late to take over the class for another teacher who quit. She handled the situation well. She gave us two speeches to write and one extra credit opportunity. It was an easy class and her lectures were never too long and always engaging. She did a lot of group work and it was usually fun (giant jenga in class!). Recommended!
Really great teacher if you struggle with public speaking take her she regally cares and will help you cope with your anxiety. She really cares and wants you to get a good grade when you present she gives you really good feedback. Her classes are super fun you won't get bored ever.
Some may think a friend is giving a positive review, but I assure you I am a student who took her class. Professor Iapicco is the best teacher I've ever had. If you're honest with her, she will do everything to accommodate your issues. Her class is funny and you will learn to confidently perform public speaking.
Never scheduals anything more than a day in advance. Very preachy and has an irritating voice. Tells you to look at canvas but never posts anything important. Says you need to bring in the tests and that the answers need to be right but grades them on participation alone. Generally poor teacher.
Just take her class, have fun, and pass. It's really that simple.
Such a great professor for such a difficult subject! Most people dread taking public speaking but Professor Iapicco really made it very laid back and easy. She has in class days before your speech to help you on your outline if needed. 4 quizzes throughout the course that help you on your final exam!! Overall great and helpful professor.
Uses book for 4 take home quizzes super easy and quick. Accepts work early never late. Dont miss your speech days or sign up/outline days. Extremely professional and nice, allowed to use notecards during speech. 10/10 would take again, I recommend! Will help you come up with topics if you need help.
She really cares about her students and her classes are easy. If youre terrified of public speaking she empathizes with you and helps you get over your fear. The speech topics are easy and the quizzes are take home and you can find the answers online even though she says you cannot. I love her as a person and would definitely take her class again
VERY easy class. Criteria is clear and easy A if you do the work. This professor allowed students to turn in work late - which is fine- except it affects the timeliness of her grading everyone else that was on time. It took 4+ weeks for some grades to be entered and it took 4+ days for reply. After class ended it took 2 weeks to know final grade.
Has a clear grading criteria for all speech's. Does not lecture a lot, only to explain the speech's. She gives you feedback the same day you do the speech, so you know what to improve on. Does not grade tough. You have quizzes and a persuasive assignment to do too, but not that much for a whole semester to do. I would take her class again.
One of the drawbacks is that she never posts any announcements on Canvas so if you missed class you won't be able to know what the assignment is for next week unless you ask one of your classmates. Other than speeches, there are also some written assignments.
Took Mrs. Iapicco for public speaking last semester. Best professor I have had so far. Super easy to work with and truly cares about students.
Prof Iappico was an amazing instructor. She gives great advice and feedback. You will have a few speeches. However, by the end you will feel confident to stand in front of people and present a speech.
Very easy class. She understands the struggle when it comes to public speaking so she makes students feel comfortable when giving speeches. She does not grade harsh. Just make sure you show up on speech days. Her critical thinking questions are straight from the textbook. They are easy too.
This professor is far most one of the best professors I've ever had! She gives you assignments that help you get through the speeches, but gives you a level of confidence about yourself. I wish I could have her for all of my courses. I recommend her for any course she is teaching!
She is pretty straightforward with her expectations on speeches. As long as you do everything she requires you to do for your speech, you should have no problems. You must dress business causal to every speech you give or else she will dock points off your grade.
One of the best public speaking teachers ever! At first i was a bit nervous but she made the class feel comfortable and confident. She motivates her students and tries to help them in anyway she can.
She is absolutely outstanding; honestly i was a bit afraid of this class at first but she did a great job at building up everyone's confidence. The only thing is just make sure you do the assignments that aren't speeches and turn them in on time, this is extremely cruicial
Dr. Iapicco really cares about her students and is really amazing at helping students with anxiety. Even though I took a 6 weeks course, it didnt feel like too much work. As long as you do the homework and try your best during your speech you should easily receive an A in this class.
I took her class during the summer term, and it was a little fast pace but overall great professor. I will definitely be taking her again.
This professor is amazing very professional and wise in her subject. She will accommodate With you the best way possible. Easy a easy class. Be on time and due the work
Fantastic professor and educator!! Loved her and her class. She was clear, concise, and organized. Leaving her class I feel confident and prepared for speaking publically. Her teaching methods seem weird at first but it really helps to drill in the fundamentals of speech.
Speeches are well-evaluated with thorough feedback. Lectures are very thorough, with necessary information in order to perform well in speeches. Overall, the class is very straightforward and easy. Assignments come straight from the textbook, and there is *some* leniency with due dates towards the beginning of the course.
Shes literally a queen. She spends time talking about anxiety, gives extra credit and genuinely cares for all her students. Do yourself a favor and take her, being in her class was indeed a pleasure.
Very straight-forward , expectations set early , JUST BE PREPARED &DO THE WORK. In order to get an A , effort , and organization.
This professor was simple, as it was a relief to have all of our assignments straight forward and in the Syllabus. Focuses on proper attire during speeches and respect for peers. Addresses anxiety in all forms and understands her students. She cares and gives high grades. It's a good way to curb social anxiety while speaking to an audience.
Easy class
She was a great teacher in the beginning, and shes very helpful. Also her speeches were easy. However be careful if you have to submit a speech online. If you do one little thing right she gives you a zero and no chance to resubmit.
I enjoyed Professor Iapicco at the start. But she is very strict when it comes to deadlines and grading. She did not make it very clear that we had two separate assignments due and let us miss it counting for 10% of our grade. I earned an A in the class but she impute the wrong grade and gave me a B until i went and explained the syllabus to her.
Easy A.
I took this class as someone who despised public speaking, so I took it online. There are only 2 assignments per week. 1 is either a speech or evaluation- speech you record yourself (she is only one who sees it) and evaluation you pick a video of a speech and write about it- and the second is a quiz, which is easy if you do the reading.
I had her online. Amazing teacher. Would recommend. She responds to emails and if the class is confused she will post videos for us to watch to understand her more clearly.
Standard public speaking course, a total of five speeches, and two extra credit opportunities. Iapicco is VERY strict about submission and deadlines, so be sure to have everything in order or expect points taken off. Other than that quizzes and written assignments are pretty easy. Good choice if you only have limited options.
Prof. Iapicco was one of my favorite professors this semester. She wants you to succeed and do well. She will help you if you need it and makes public speaking less terrifying. You just have to be willing to put in the work.
Super easy and loved the class, there is some participation but the professor makes it enjoyable, she care deeply about her students so just communicate with her.
I took Professor Lapicco's online public speaking class. She was AWFUL! I'd say she was one of the worst if not the worst professors i've ever had. She stresses that students use her feedback for future assignments in the class but did not grade any assignments until the end of the course. When I emailed her for help she never responded. terrible.
She's not an entertaining person but gives good lectures. Had her in person. Online quizzes are really easy. Not a tough grader at all. My friend got a 0/50 for turning in an outline in 5 minutes too late but he ended up with a 101 bcuz he did an extra credit speech and watched a movie and answered questions. Not a good communicator though. Easy A.
Online course was easy enough, but appalled by personal behavior. My father was put into hospital (and passed), when I informed Dr. Iapicco that because of this I missed an assignment, I was told I was out of luck. The assignment was maybe worth 5 points, so nothing major, but lack of compassion was absolutely appalling and only added to the upset.
I love Professor Iappico! She genuinely cares for her students and she will go above and beyond for them as long as they are willing to put the work in. Her class is not that difficult but it can be if you decide to leave everything to the last minute. She's an extremely understanding teacher and she will always be willing to work with you.
I had this professor for my public speaking class and she did a great job on teaching and preparing students for speeches. I would've got an A grade if I prepared well on speeches, and I got B for preparing nothing on speeches.
I took Dr. Iapicco's online public speaking class and I really enjoyed it. All of the deadlines and materials are easily accessible online, so there is very little confusion on what you should do/when. I will say it does take some time and effort to prepare the speeches. The textbook will give you all the info you need. Easy A+.
She is the BEST professor ever. You can tell she cares for her students, she responds very quickly to emails. Has an extra credit assignment towards the end of the semester once you submit all the assignments. Not super strict on discussion post word count.Discussion posts for 2 assignments.Easy A.
Dr. Iapicco was such a good professor! Instructions for all assignments were easy to understand and she always answered my questions clearly! Such a good class and teacher.
I have anxiety and public speaking was a big challenge, but she always helped me. There is an opportunity for extra credit at the end of the semester but she is a very easy grader so I didn't need it. A couple of online quizzes from the textbook, speech outlines, speeches, and speech evaluations is all I really did.
Amazing Professor, if you need to take public speaking, take her she was amazing gives you great feedback and she makes sure to explained everything so well before you need to start any speeches just make sure that you that you show up so you can understand what to do with the speeches and make sure that you are dress professionally.
This professor is impossible to reach at any moment. I messaged her around 4 times throughout my time in this class and she has not responded once. Her work is easy but you have to do all of it completely to get an A in the class. There are no lectures and she is no help throughout the course.
This professor will not grade assignments until the last minute. I have not had any of my speeches graded other than the first one, a month ago. So I have no idea if I passed or failed even though the semester ends in one week. I would not recommend this course with this professor unless you want to play with your grades.
She was an amazing professor. We had three speeches and around 12 quizzes from the textbook. I thought the classes were pretty fun and it she set up a good environment for us to feel comfortable. If you are thinking of taking this class I recommend her tons!
Great professor, truly knows how to teach, she doesn't go into the textbook at all but teaches what you need to know. She gives great feedback and goes over assignments clearly. There's not much work in the class is all doable, I definitely recommend her for public speaking.
Textbook is required but it is an online one that is free. Class is very easy just make sure you complete the assignments
THIS IS WHO YOU NEED TO TAKE FOR YOUR PUBLIC SPEAKING CREDIT. Look no further. An easy A if you come in and do your 3 speeches! It sounds stressful, and I didnt want to take it either, but i promise she is the professor you want for this class. She is a great professor, funny, and is very helpful. I loved this class, shockingly.
I took Prof. Iapicco's as a 6-week course over the summer. Considering you get a free 2-week trial for Pearson and all the homework is open to you on day one, you might as well get it all done so you don't have to pay for a textbook you won't read. There were no exams in her class and rubrics for all speeches was clearly stated from the first day.
Please take Public Speaking with Professor Iapicco! I dreaded having to take public speaking but Mrs. Iapicco made the class enjoyable and she cares so much about her students wanting everyone to pass. My class was only 6 weeks and I already miss it, surprisingly, so please if you can take this class with her! I promise you will not regret it!
super easy class, honestly just fulfill all requirements on an assignments and you will get 100. answer everything fully and nicely, read rubrics carefully. there is a textbook but you don't need it for anything at all.
She's a great professor for public speaking. She grades fairly and gives alot of feedback to improve. Also willing to help you practice your speech multiple times before class and help you with writing it. If you are not a great public speaker, take her class it will help alot!!!
I learned hardly anything from Iapicco, although she was nice I was not satisfied with the level of effort put into teaching us. I was not a fan of her organization of learning materials and assignments, it was definitely confusing at first. The tests are easy and open note so that was a plus for sure. Kind of a tough speech grader though.
She gave very good feedback on speeches and made sure students were paying attention to other students' speeches by making them give feedback as well. Only con I'd say is she doesn't have a clear grading rubric. She says what you need to improve on in your speeches but there's no clear outline on where she's deducting points. Very good prof though.
Hands down one of the best professors I have had! Plays games in class that helps you learn the material. She follows her syllabus and policies and is very clear on assignments. She gives great feedback and helps you with your outlines and speeches. Super fun class. Quizzes have unlimited attempts and are not timed so you learn the information.
Taking this professor now online. She gives great feedback and has met with me many times outside of office hours to help me and accommodate my schedule. Most professors dont do that. She gives great feedback and I've learned a lot. If you want a caring professor and want to make a good grade, take her.
Great Prof! So glad I took her online. She's very organized and responds quickly to emails. She even uses Teams for yes/no questions. I've learned a lot in her class and have enjoyed learning from her. She's very clear on assignments and gives you feedback so you know what to fix for the next speech.
Very organized, especially for an online class. Responds to emails quickly. Always ready to help. Clear grading rubrics so you know exactly what is going to be graded. Wish all my online classes were like this. Great instructor!
Loved this online class. She is very organized and clear about assignments. You always know what she is looking for when grading. I havent needed to email her except one time and she got back to me the same day. I've learned a lot in her class.
She grades based on rubic. NO late assignments allowed for any reason, NO re-opening. Attendance not mandatory, there are people in my class I have only seen like 4 times the entire semester. Plays games in class so you can understand concepts better. Can have a bit of a resting face and talking face but she is okay. Syllabus harsh
Funny professor and very organized. She's very friendly and helpful and responds quickly to email, though she stays after class to help too. She also works with you one on one and gives detailed feedback on speeches. Syllabus is clear on expectations and due dates. If you want to learn how to give a professional speech, take her class.
This is one of the sweetest professors I've had at HCC, not to mention knowledgeable when it comes to public speaking. She knew my mother was in the hospital not doing well and offered to come to the hospital to stay with me while waiting for my other family to arrive. It's not just about grades with her. She cares about her students.
Easily accessible and helpful. Course is organized and easy to follow. Prof gives feedback on speeches and grades fairly. Learned a lot in this course.
Very organized online class. Professor is always available if needed and responds quickly to email--the syllabus and course is laid out well though so everything is easy to follow and understand. She gives great feedback and is very encouraging.
Organized and easy to follow modules for online class. Professor is easy to get a hold of and responds to emails. Gives feedback on speeches and follows syllabus which is easy to understand. Grades fairly. I've learned a lot in this course and have noticed improvement in my speeches.
Very organized class with clear grading rubrics. She follows the syllabus and is always willing to help. Loved this course and learned a lot. Make sure you read the rubrics and just follow them. You know exactly how you're going to be graded. She always gives feedback.
Loved having her as my teacher. Gives second chances and is also very kind. Very easy class passed with flying colors
It was first year experience, so it was a pretty easy course. There were a few discussions throughout, but they weren't too difficult. No big writing assignments. A good bit of textbook reading though that was necessary for the quizzes. Overall, no complaints.
It's daunting taking a public speaking class, but Dr. Iapicco made it seem less anxiety-inducing. Had 3 required speeches, the first one being an introduction of yourself. Her rubrics are posted for all speeches and her quizzes are online with unlimited attempts. Love her class and would definitely take it again!!!!
To start off with this bad review... I'm passing Iapicco's class with 91% an "A" grade in the class, so she can't say, "Oh, it's only the 'screw up' and 'lazy' students who leave bad reviews for me!" Her grading rubric/weighting for the class and hypocricy with dressing up (when she doesn't dress to lecture) is totally illogical and bonkers.
Clearly outlines requirements for success. Provides detailed requirement outline for each required speech. Must be present and on time. No extra Credit. Thoroughly knows the content with a great desire to teach. Always prepared. Showed patience with those who struggled while maintaining momentum.
