Very clear notes ... great choice for gen. ed req.
In all of my 10 accumulated years of higher education (I have two Bachelor's Degrees) rarely have I encountered professors as superior as Dr. Williams. She is brilliant, a superb lecturer, very approachable, and amusing. I can't say enough in praise of this remarkable woman. Take any class, graduate or undergraduate, that you can with her.
Dr. Williams is a great teacher. I was interested in her lectures the entire time. She's super insightful and funny. She is extremely helpful and very sympathetic to students. There is a lot of material to take in so be sure to go to class and read all of the material even though attendance is not mandatory. Book is required for the study guide.
Fantastic teacher, lecturer, and human being. She is extremely helpful and really wants all of her students to do great. This does not mean she will give you an "easy A", but she will help you in any way she can. If you haven't had the pleasure of taking a class with her yet than you are missing out.
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE LIFE & DEATH IN ANCIENT EGYPT! Spare yourself! Modules start with 3 activities, and when you think you're done she adds 17 more items. She kept changing dates, never responds to e-mails, and takes forever to grade anything! Tests have nothing to do with readings. Content is interesting, she is just a terrible teacher.
Do NOT take her online Life and Death in Ancient Egypt course. It is horribly hard and she has ridiculous expectations of her students. Modules have an unreasonable amount of content and her tests and quizzes are often worded to trip you up on the littlest details. Two textbooks, endless teacher notes, recorded lectures, films and PDFs galore. RUN!
DO NOT TAKE HER! She gives entirely too much "busy" work. Then you would think all that material would be on the tests & 12 quizzes, but its not! Plus she takes forever to grade. This class is no joke. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy
I took Sex, Gender and Culture and she was great! There was a bit of trouble with her work in Egypt but she definitely understood and extended deadlines. She responds very quickly to emails and so does her TA. They are very helpful and understanding on a need for an extension on deadlines. Would definitely take her again!
I took this as a Mixed Mode Class. The material was EXTREMELY interesting (one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken) and she adds relevant info from her experiences as well. LOTS of reading but assignments are easy and straightforward. If you do the work, you will get an A.
Dr. Williams is one of the best professors I've had at UCF. She is extremely interesting and invested in her students. I took the class Honors and loved it. However, her tests took a RIDICULOUS amount of time to study for...if you're not interested in the material I would suggest taking an easier professor like George Long for Human Spec.
She is the worst teacher at UCF. I have straight A's in my other courses but I am struggling to keep a B in hers. She doesnt update content, shuffles around due dates so that you have no idea whats due and when, refuses to respond to emails, her tests are practically impossible (not based on readings or quizes)...its too bad; The content is cool.
TOO MANY PROBLEMS! We're 5+ modules behind because of technical difficulties. She didn't realize/care when things were not published for us to see. Doesn't respond to emails. Disorganized. Everything got pushed back and eventually material was taken out because we have no time for it now. Frustrated. Loved her in Egypt class but never again. Beware
Hybrid class. She's so unreliable- nothing gets posted on time, still waiting on material from a month ago. Final is in two weeks, who knows if she'll get around to posting the material and last written assignment? Very little communication from her. Nobody in the class knows what is going on. Very frustrating! Tests and assignments aren't hard.
Easy and interesting class. AWFUL professor. Unreliable. Doesn't get anything done on time and doesn't care. Doesn't respond to emails unless you attack her methods in which case she responds immediately with excuses. Hybrid in class/online course but only makes announcements in class and then treats you like an idiot for not knowing. Don't do it!
I have been awaiting this class and have been SO disappointed. Unreliable, disorganized, unprofessional and uncaring does not begin to describe the way she has conducted this class. We never know when the assignments are due and then she pops project papers and new material during the final exam period. UCF needs to do something about this class.
She used to be amazing but she has just lost it. Doesn't care her students, doesn't respond to students unless it is to threaten them, posts content whenever she feels like it. Grading system is ridiculous (competitive grading), and the tests are IMPOSSIBLE. Tests don't follow readings, quizzes or lectures.
TOO much material so little time. She kept changing due dates so everything kept getting backed up. AVOID!
Very knowledgeable about what she teaches, but terrible about the online portions of the class. This class wasn't even supposed to have an online portion, but she gave it one anyway. Three days before the final exam she finally put up the last five module quizzes and the last assignment, and the exam study guide. Just don't bother.
This has to be the worst professor to teach at UCF. Ive had her for two classes, and they are the same. She overloads you with so much work that it's practically impossible to get in A in her class while maintaining high grades in 3 other classes. She is the only professor Ive had that gave me 3 quizzes on top of a final during finals week! Beware!
Two classes, two terms, both classes we were behind from the beginning. She tries to blame technical issues, but none of my other online professors have problems. Taking Human Origins 6 week accelerated summer course. Finals week and we have 4 modules, 4 quizzes, 2 labs and the exam left, and the material is still not uploaded. DO NOT take her.
Late on posting and did not reply to my emails, which is severely frustrating. The quizzes are okay IF your read the material. We had two books but we never read one of them. Wasted money. If you took ANT2140 this is basically the same thing but focuses on inequality more. Extremely unreliable and unhelpful, I will not take her classes again.
Save yourself the time and energy cause this class is ridiculous! She requires 4 textbooks, has quizzes worth 10 points, and some of the questions are fill in answers. Absolutely the worst when it comes to lectures - they're an hour long! Makes you read a ton of stuff. First and last class I'll ever have with her. DON'T! JUST DON'T!
I've taken her two times. Please avoid this teacher. She did not respond to any of my emails or questions on webcourses. The work load is extremely heavy and hard to balance with three other classes and a job. I honestly think she doesn't care about her students or the fact her assignments aren't updated/clear given the tasks she expects from us.
Boring and Difficult Class
Probably one of the heaviest work loads I've ever had for a class. The material is interesting but there's just way too much work for the little time we have. She expects you to get through hours worth of information, do discussions, take a quiz and read a book in like a week. And her exams can take you like 3 hours to finish! Wouldn't recommend!
I took her Medical Anthropology class as a mixed mode course and it was fantastic. She is understanding, easy to talk to in and out of class. Yes there are a lot of books, assignments and the course is reading heavy but it is easy to get around that. I never read all of them and I didn't attend class for a month, just make sure you do the assignmen
I was honestly pretty excited about taking her class but then it just turned into a nightmare. If you do not copy word for word what she says during her over hour long lectures, you will fail. Decoding Norse Runes was just a way for your grade to drop a whole letter and the quizzes don't even test the material being taught. Please avoid at all cost
Currently taking her for Egyptology and I love it. Like the others have said though, she gives extensive lectures and it's important you take detailed notes of anything you think is important. There is a LOT of reading and media to watch, but I found her tests mostly only focus on the notes in her lectures and anything she highlights as important.
While there were a few hiccups with posted work, she always got them fixed and gave appropriate extensions to submit the work. For this class, make sure to use the study guides she provides as an outline for your notes. There is a lot of reading, multiple lectures, and a video each week, but it's doable if you pace yourself. I learned a lot.
I really enjoyed Dr. Williams' class. There is a lot of material, but the book choices were great! You also get to watch fascinating documentaries and video clips. The online course setup was well-organized and had fun pictures and readings. She always responded promptly to my emails and was kind and caring when addressing student concerns.
This woman is ridiculous with the amount of work given. I can appreciate she is trying to help us understand the material but using three textbooks, plus having discussions, activities, and quizzes... its TOO MUCH. Oh and her tests... forget about doing well on those.. she does T/F, Multiple Choice, Fill in the blank, AND has short answer responses
She's a great professor with easy assignments. She drops the lowest grades for some of the quizzes and the discussion posts. She cares about you and understands that life comes first. I wish I could take her for more classes.
Professor Williams was solid! I only took this class one day out of the week and the rest was online, my only complaint about the way she handled class is that she wasn't really on top of grading, but kept posting homework and quizzes anyway. Do each module study guide she posts and you'll be fine for every exam and quiz. Recommend taking her!
Dr. Williams is very intelligent in her field and I have a high respect for her as an Anthropology professor. The tests are very specific so be sure you're 100% prepared before you take them (they're online.) Quizzes aren't bad. Papers are easy enough. Just make sure to take the class seriously and you'll be alright.
She gives great lectures and understands life comes before school. If you just go and talk to her if something is going on, she will work with you if she sees you're making an effort. There is a decent amount of homework, but nothing insane. And all of the exams are taken online from home so she wants you to use your notes for them. Great class!
Hardest class I've taken at UCF bc of her. DO NOT TAKE! Too much work, so little time. Difficult activities every week that are time-consuming (2-4 hours), discussions with replies (both long requirements), quizzes weekly, long lectures, LENGTHY HARD EXAMS take 3 hours & answers are nowhere. Worst professor ever. Blames tech issues 24/7!
Lectures the whole time but she makes it engaging and funny. A quiz and an assignment due every week online. Assignments were either discussions, papers (3 in total). Three tests and they were about 60 questions with short answers, but she gives you about 3 hours to complete them so more than enough time with it being open book.
Dr. Williams was so great as a professor. Not only did she give solid lectures that were easy to follow, but she was charming and always had answers to students' questions. There's a couple of assignments weekly, but all exams and quizzes were online and open book, making the class easy to pass. Get the textbook, it'll help a lot.
I cried multiple times throughout this course. 3 hour exams. No answers online. 3 textbooks. Discussions, lengthy assignments, and a quiz are due each week. Long LONG lecture materials. Takes years to grade. To be fair, she has all the materials available, is organized, and is nice - it's just EXTREMELY heavy and harsh. I was scared every week lol.
If youre taking this class, be prepared to dedicate 5+ hours a week to the course. I took her Life and Death in Ancient Egypt course online as a free elective thinking itd be a fun class to learn about. Ill just say that I also took Organic Chemistry and Genetics that semester and THIS was the most stressful and hardest class that semester.
Despite the bad reviews, Professor Williams class was a breeze. The subject itself was interesting and Williams delivered the material well. She does take attendance through an index card system so attendance is pretty mandatory. Even if you miss a few classes youll still pass. All exams and quizzes are online so its open book.
Takes days to respond to emails about technical issues, preventing assignments from being accessible. She does not convey the course material effectively at all and will instead go on tangents in lectures about things that aren't important to understanding concepts. Asks questions on exams that can't be found in module materials or the textbook.
The activities for the class were decent, long, but mostly interesting. However, her quizzes and tests were brutal. Everything just seemed like a trick question. The worst part of the class though was she CONSTANTLY switched her assignments around without any announcement. Made it impossible to plan anything. By far my worst experience in college.
Dr. Williams is very fair, and gives you a ton of options NOT to fail. Very respectful and thorough. Her rating scared me, but once going through the class, I don't know why I was scared! Thank you Upper level class made easy.
The epitome of what online courses should be. Prerecorded (and interesting) lectures, engaging activities, and small group discussions combined with reading and writing assignments. Seems like a lot but is well organized and thought out. Professor is understanding, kind and knows her stuff. Cannot recommend her enough, go i-Vikingr with Dr. Lana!
One of my favorite GEP classes that I've taken. The material in this class is very interesting and Dr. Williams does her best to make the material fun and exciting. The tests for this class are open-notes which is nice, but it is important to study because the information can come from many sources.
I took professor Williams back in summer 2019 and I have to say that she is tough but she does a great job of teaching the subject. She is very knowledgeable and the material is tough but if you are up for the challenge, I recommend her, the score doesnt do her justice.
The course was flawlessly organized. Dr. Williams is highly intelligent, detail oriented, and humble. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and is the type of professor that you're honored to have met. It seams like she gives a lot of work, but trust in the process because she's actually making it easier to connect and absorb everything. TAKE NOTES
Grades consist of 3 discussions, 15 quizzes (drops the 2 lowest), 3 papers, and 3 exams. She posts powerpoints and lectures and a "study guide" for each chapter. Quizzes and tests are open note. The required book is a lot of reading and was hard for me to understand. I skimmed the book and used the "study guide" to mark what could be important.
Maybe it's specifically online classes, but this class is insane. All lecture material is 4+ hours of strictly audio files a week with powerpoints that are only pictures. No way to refer to previous info. Every exam/quiz question feels like a trick question. Every week its 30+ pages of reading, and hours of videos/audio lectures that don't prepare.
Quite literally over 100 hours of videos and audio lectures. She had these hieroglyph assignments that were self-learned crossword puzzles and then suddenly the last two of them were translating sentences of hieroglyphs. Be prepared to spend 5+ hours a week on this course.
I can not express how horrible this course was. It was one of the most difficult classes I've taken at UCF. Her lecture content is so disorganized. Her lectures have no text on the slides. To pass her exams you have to write down every word she says. Don't take this class. She writes all of her questions and they're exceedingly difficult and vague.
This has been the most draining class I have taken. Sucked any fun out of the subject. Disorganized! 30+ hours worth of videos, articles, lectures a week. That do not help with the tests. No notes with lectures, have to pause, rewind lectures, write everything down; to still be graded below average. I really hope her other classes are not similar.
This class is very hard. LOTS of reading and MANY hours of lecture (online you can pause to take notes but I can't imagine taking it f2f and trying to keep up if she includes as much info in each slide). I did learn a lot but I was happy when it was over. Would recommend if you already have a large amount of knowledge or passion about the subject.
15 quizzes (2 lowest grades dropped), 2 exams (most is fill in blank/written response and then some multiple choice). 3 hours given for around 70 questions. Took all 3 hours and still didnt finish. HOURSSS of lecture videos plus other content and then reading per week. Open notes quiz/exam but some questions cant even be found in lecture/book
DONT take!!! you have to write down everything she says word for word to answer quiz or exam questions, i feel like i didnt learn anything, im just studying to pass exams. Class structure doesnt promote learning. Just mindless note taking of everything in the class
A lot of work, but covers a lot of ground and you definitely learn a lot!
Dr. Williams is actually a wonderful professor, despite what other students in this section will say. Yes, there is a lot to read; however, the best way to learn when taking her class is by setting aside time to really focus on it. She knows what she is talking about and is very kind. If you need help, go to tutoring or message her.
The professor herself is nice, but the class is hard. The majority of your grade is made up of 3 exams. The exams are DIFFICULT, 70 questions of fill in the blank and short answers. It took the entire 3 hours to finish it. I never got higher than a C on any of them and I studied hard. I honestly don't even know how I managed to get a B in the class
Dr. Williams is easily my favorite professor I've ever had as a student at UCF. She is incredibly intelligent, detail-oriented, and caring. Amazing, insightful lectures. If you have the opportunity to take one of her courses, DO IT!
Professor Williams is a nice professor who cared about her students. The only material getting graded are 3 discussions, quizzes, and 3 exams. The exams were difficult to me because of the length, around 70 questions. There is much material and I definitely learned but it did get overwhelming at times.
Dr. Williams was incredibly nice and super understanding of extenuating circumstances. However her grading scale was pretty bad. You need a 95+ to get an A. 90-94 an A-. Her class is graded heavily on exams which are pretty difficult. The material was very interesting though.
This course was a lot of work, but it's because Dr. Williams has a wealth of knowledge to share. You want to learn a subject? Take her class! She is also an incredibly kind human being. I cannot recommend her enough.
She really is a great professor. Her readings and lectures were on her quizzes and exams, there are a couple of discussion posts and quizzes in the class but overall if you want a good grade take her!!
You have to put in the effort but as long as you take good notes and read the textbook you should be able to pass but I did have to put in a lot of work but the teacher is flexible when issues arise and I actually felt like I learned something. Weekly quizzes based on lectures and textbook readings and three exams overall, which isn't bad.
Great professor, has quizzes every week and a few discussion posts, 3 exams. Her exams are based on her lectures so really get into studying those and you should be able to pass the class.
Very nice and flexible with extensions. very understanding and works with you but her lectures are complicated for no reason. The level of circumlocution she uses is unnecessary. I felt I was taking a class with Eugine from the walking dead. I couldn't follow her lectures and they were excruciatingly boring. I'm an A student and barely passed.
I am only posting this for the sake of students who are taking more than one class. If youre taking more than one class do not take her. You have about five assignments due each week which includes reading a book, reading a textbook chapter, an activity, and 3 to 4 lectures that are about 30 to an hour long each. She doesnt care if you struggle.
4.5 Rating. I've learned more from their classes than any others at UCF. If you take notes, actually fill out the study guides provided each week you will get an A in the class provided you do the work. Not an easy A, but do your brain a favor and take one of her classes. Organized and challenging class. Good luck!
If you want to just focus on one class, then do her class. If you do not, then skip, skip, skip. She is unbendable, even when asked and each module is so long and drawn out, video lectures are over 23 mins to 1 hr long module, several readings online, not short, book readings. Discussions, assignments.NEVER AGAIN WITH HER. I rather quit first.
this professor seems to think students only take one class per semester, her exams are actually the most tedious and ridiculous I have ever taken and this class isn't even like a main/important class, for me it was a science elective. I don't know whats wrong with her but trust me when I say the exams are actually about 70 short response questions
I would not recommend this class to my worst enemy's dog. If you are looking at this course thinking it sounds like a fun elective, turn around now. You will spend 6-8 hours a week on lectures, reading, and documentaries, and the exam questions will still ask you the most tedious and scrutinizing details you will never remember. DO NOT TAKE.
i took this class thinking it would be a super fun restricted elective, but boy was I wrong. she supplies you with an insane amount of content all through video lectures and she wouldn't transcribe it for us. if you are literally only taking this class then take it but if not DONT
The amount of work given makes me think that she believes her class is the only one students ever take. DO NOT TAKE
Dr. Williams is tough but I appreciate that. Lots of reading but it's a 4000 level course so it is expected. She builds really engaging content that is heavy, but fun to read/watch.
I LOVE Dr. Williams. Lectures are interesting and the classroom structure is consistent. Quizzes & exams are timed and proctored. If you use the study guide she provides, you will do well. Drops the lowest two grades for quizzes and POV (discussions). You are only expected to do 12 of the 14 quizzes and 3 of 5 discussions. I will take her again.
After reading reviews last term, I was a little worried this class would be crazy hard. It is very challenging but Dr. Williams gives you all the tools you need to succeed. The lectures are VERY important, and take notes. Great subject material presented in an engaging way.
Dr. Williams is a very sweet and incredibly caring professor! She is super easy to access outside of class if you are having issues or need help, and she gives very detailed and amazing responses. Her classes can be tough, but it is too be expected with high level courses. I have taken her a few times and do not regret it at all, she is BRILLIANT.
This is a tough class, lecture heavy. I averaged 50 pages of notes from lectures for the proctored exams. A week would be 4 lectures, quiz or two, discussion, and an activity. Lowest 2 quiz grades and 3 activity grades are dropped. Exams are TF, fill-in, multiple choice, essay response- 70 questions 3 hours. Offers EC & responds to emails!
Incredibly difficult professor. I took this class online, so it might be different in person. There are several assignments due each week with lecture videos that did not help with the activities or tests. Unless you are REALLY strong in biology, you should not take this class!
Currently in ANT4516; Dr. Williams is fantastic, extremely helpful if you communicate a need. This is a 4000-level class, so expect to read a lot. She does assign a massive amount of work ea. week, but, trust me on this: Use her study guide, rely on the terms, organize your notes! This is my 4th class with her, trust me.
They take months to grade a quiz and tests. You dont even have your grades in for add/drop to make a decison. Quiz grades are not in by the time an exam is open, so you cant even have your study material prepared. Grading is very harsh with limited feedback. Just a mess! I never knew where my grade stood in this class all throughout the semester.
Dr. Williams is one of my favorite professors. Her modules are lecture heavy, make sure you allot enough time for 3-5 hours of lecture a week. She drops the lowest grades for quizzes and activities. Her study guides are on point for success. She is always willing to help explain if you get stuck! It's a tough class, but she wants you to succeed!
whatever positive reviews you see on here, do not believe. i 100% regret taking her class - from the five weekly assignments that were due, long exams and difficult assignments; i wish i never signed up. please choose other classes or professors, your mental health will decline and it's not worth the headaches and many sleepless nights just to fail
If you care about your sanity, I heavily advise not taking her class. That's all.
So. Many. Long. Lectures. You HAVE to watch the lectures to pass. My notes were just transcripts of her lectures cause tests were hard. I didn't read the textbooks, but the tests are open note/book, so have all of that opened. The assignments are pretty difficult, highest grade I got was 17/20. Professor is kind, but it's a very heavy class.
Dr. William's class was very challenging. Lots of homework assignments that took up a lot more time that I expected. Ultimately, she is an excellent professor who clearly knows the material through and through. Only take ANT 3148 if you are truly ready to learn.
If you don't absolutely need to take this class with her don't take it. All her lectures are recorded with horrible slide shows, not engaging at all. The assignments are ridiculous, just busy work and they don't help with the class. The lectures are like listening to a podcast with random info. Tests ask for VERY specific content
Assignments were graded by TA but absurdly tough grader and don't provide feedback at all besides "not engaging enough" or "incorrect". I already had some kind of knowledge about the content so the class wasn't too bad. The lectures are not very good, it is just slides with voice over. I don't recommend this class.
Assignments are graded in an unnecessarily tough way. It is like taking an English class, she takes off points for ridiculous things and provides little to no feedback. The content is interesting and I enjoyed learning about it but the professor wasn't the one who made me like it. I wouldn't really recommend unless you don't have any other choice.
Dr. Williams was a fantastic lecturer, and the format of her online courses make them super easy to navigate and get your work done. She's excellent with assignment reminders so it's really hard for you to forget about them, though the class is heavy on material so I don't recommend falling behind. I would absolutely take another class of hers!
Don't take Dr. Williams if you are expecting an easy A. If you want to learn the material; however, this is the professor for you. She is extremely knowledgeable and will prepare you well for the exams as long as you follow the study guides and are willing to do the work.
Willams is an awesome person. However, her classes are really tough and exams will have materials you havent learned about before. Shes an incredibly tough grader and its overall a demanding course
Dr. Williams is a great lecturer. ANT2511 was a breeze and exams were very straightforward. ANT3148 (online) definitely required some extra work, and exams were very long, but the content was awesome and I only recommend it if you're very interested in ancient Egypt. She's super friendly and intelligent and taking her classes was a joy.
Unnecessarily hard. Literally made account just to rate her. If you can, do not take her. Lectures make no sense, impossible to get a 100%. I've never gotten anything lower than an A before and I am already at a B in this class on the 4th week. Ridiculous expectations for weekly readings and assignments. Textbook is expensive. Just all around awful
Dr. Williams is a very tough grader and the reading for this class was overwhelming at times. But if you're taking this course, then you're an anthropology major. The theory learned in this class is invaluable and definitely worth the effort. This content solidifies all the material covered in all previous courses.
The lectures are very long and hard to follow. Quizzes consist of fill-in-the-blank, t/f, and multiple choice. The discussions are meticulous and not easy to get 100% The exams are ruthless 55 questions and 10 of them are essay questions there is not enough time to answer all questions effectively. Overall very challenging course for no reason
Never graded timely&when 2 hurricanes closed UCF for 7+ days (most people left town or w/out power for days) only gave 1 extra day for all work. Students asked grading to be more timely+feedback bc grading was harsh&rubrics unclear, she responded grades will be released quicker+refused feedback or explanations "students complaining was ridiculous"
Put off this class to avoid her but couldn't. Took her a year prior (horrific experience), she was better in this course, bit more helpful&considerate of students but did not offer many resources for me or others who struggled. Offered spontaneous extra credit, earned when students keep up with course schedule. Ask for help as soon as needed tho.
I've taken her classes before and they're difficult but very enjoyable. Her test are long and you need to make sure you watch the lectures. She's incredibly knowledgeable and willing to help. All you need to do is apply yourself.
Absolutely abominable work-load. 3 quizzes, 3 chapters and 2 assignments due over a single week. Don't take it with her during the summer if you work full time. On a positive note, she is very caring toward students and is happy and willing to communicate with them.
I've been at UCF for 3 years and I've never seen online quizzes and exams made almost exclusively of poorly worded written response questions like I have in this class. Most mind numbing textbook I've ever had the displeasure of reading, it's ~700 pages written like a narrative with no helpful index or glossary. Uses automatic test auditing. Run.
Level of interest and commitment is key. VERY predictable schedule & workload oscillates. Quizzes and exams based mainly off lectures & provided study guides; auto graded + personaly adjusts technicalities. Reviews seem more intimidating than actual experience. There are far more demanding profs. Not bad for an accelerated course! Money well spent.
So many boring lectures. No enthusiasm. So much reading. Copy/paste feedback for every assignment. Impossible to get an A if you have any other classes.
Don't be scared to take her!! You learn a LOT so I wouldn't recommend taking this for a summer term bc there's a lot of lectures and textbook reading. Study guides exactly mimic quiz & test questions. Don't forget to read the intros for each module. Drops lowest 2 quizzes. Sort of a picky grader but just put in a bit of effort and u can get an A :)
Challenging but rewarding course with a knowledgeable professor. Prepare to put in the work, but Dr. Williams wants you to succeed. Unstuck AI was a game-changer for study prep.
SHE IS AWESOME I loved taking this class despite the large workload. I learned so much in this class and if you have the time to dedicate yourself to note taking and reading, you will do well. #1 recommendation is to use the study guide while reading/watching material and fill it in as you go. Very specific quiz/tests, but good notes will help.
Dr. Williams is a great person to learn from with so much experience. The class was difficult with lots of lectures and readings but that's because trying to fit all of Egyptian history into one class is not easy. I genuinely learned so much from this class despite the work load. She does help you out a lot and the quizzes are straight forward.
Dr. Williams is one of the best professors I have had in my college career, and definitely an asset to UCF. Be prepared to read but the content is extremely interesting, and brings about interesting discussions. She knows how to engage people in discussions and keep it lively and fun.
Save yourself the headache. If you have other classes, a job, or a life in general, it isn't worth taking this course. There are hours of video lectures and hundreds of pages of reading every week. The tests are fill-in-the-blank and short essays, which she grades very subjectively. She's condescending and will "congratulate" you on a low grade.
There is a decent amount of reading involved, but it's nothing bad. As long as you take notes in her lectures and slideshows, you'll do perfectly fine on the quizzes and exams. Her discussion posts are a tad different compared to typical discussion posts, but I find them very fun, educational, and engaging.
Professor Lana Williams was kind and interesting. But the class is overwhelmingly difficult. The structure is extensive online lectures and one long, hard to digest chapter reading per week. Exams are AWFUL; complex essay questions, and grading is tough. Took this course for credit in the fall. Do not recommend at all if you have any kind of life.
