Hemlow really knows how to teach the material well. Even though the subject-matter is hard, he makes it understandable and accessible. He is very approachable. Tests are predictable, using homework problems. He allows formula sheets and open-book.Hemlow is the best math teacher I've ever had.

Great teacher and great guy. I've actually taken 3 classes with him. The Algebra Mods, and Statistics 1 and 2. He's very easy going and wont over load you with work, but if he feels taken advantage of or if too many people are falling behind, he'll kick it up a knotch.

I attended 2 lectures and about 5 lab periods, didn't take the final and passed with a B. He had a rough semester with about one class canceled a week. As a result, most of the grades were curved severely or automatic 100s. He's a good guy with deep understanding of his subject, but he needs to compose himself a bit and make class easier to follow.

I had him for Calc I and he was AWESOME. I failed all of the tests and still passed the class. Also took him for Statistics I online--I completely forgot I was taking this online class and never did any of the work or the final and I got an A. I don't know how the hell that happened, but he's otherwise an awesome guy.

This is the nicest professor you will ever meet. He will care about you and help you every step of the way. He is extremely easy though and you may have a hard time understanding future math classes where the teacher isn't so easy.

Yea he is easy, but he really is a good teacher he makes so easy for you to understand and gives you shortcuts. Most people take advantage of his easiness. Easy labs, Multiple choice tests. Attendance not mandatory. Very clear and easy to understand would take him as much as I could. Will help you in any way. Overall, great guy

One of the best, if not the best, teachers at the college. Hemlow is the man, and he is extremely helpful in his notes. Gives you time to do practice tests before the actually test, and grades extremely fairly (though it's all scantron). Excellent teacher besides all that, brings a good atmosphere into the room.

this is the coolest prof u will ever meet at RVCC...he is a nice guy and will help you get an A+ if u want it..and the best thing is tht he will let u use the calculator and his tests are multiple choice questions...definitely recommend him for any math class...

i took Hemlow for stats as well as calc. he is a great professor and really knows how to get the material across to the students. he is very clear when he gives a lecture and answers all questions and is overall very helpful. i reccommend taking him for any math class, okidokey? =P

Hemlow is the absolute best math teacher at RV. He teaches the material in a way that is so easy to understand, and he is funny as ever! Gives practice tests that are nearly identical to the tests and is willing to help when ever needed. I actually enjoyed taking his class, and I don't like math at all.

Extremely good teacher, he made Statistics so easy to understand. And he let the class out usually about 30 minutes early everyday. He assigns homework, but he never checks it so I never did it. And he gives practice test right before the actual test so that you can get everything right. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. Oh yeah, and he's so funny :)

Had him for Stat 2 online. Wonderful. Let's you use graphing calculators on tests which is REALLY helpful if you know what I mean. Tests were easy so long as you reviewed. He's gives test re-takes and drops your lowest test score. Shouldn't be a problem to do well in this class with him. Top choice.

Great Professor! He's been one of the best professor I've ever taken in RVCC. He's extremely helpful and will drop the lowest test grade. He will also give you practice tests which will give you an idea what's on the test. He's a really nice guy and will help you if you need it.

GREAT PROFESSOR. I will be taking him for STAT II. He is super chill and lets you out in 45 minutes but if you need help you can stay longer. He explains things in easy terms to understand. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!!

Compared to other teachers, he's the best one in the Math Department. He is known for his "easy" tests. The only one you should be aware of is the Probability Test. Otherwise, all of his tests are pretty easy, because of the practice tests. As long as you study the practice tests, you're set to go on acing the class. He's very chill and laid-back

Great math teacher! Makes the material very clear and easy to understand. Also allows you to use a formula card on the tests - which is a huge help. I was worried since I sometimes have trouble with math, but stats was actually pretty easy. Also he is a very nice person.

Cannot say enough good about Lance. Emails you about anything you should know, responds quickly, beyond clear with instruction, and comfortable to approach for issues. Made Mathematics fun again for me. I only wish he was my teacher for every math I've ever taken. An absolutely amazing teacher.

The people below me must be lazy-Professor Hemlow isthe best math teacher i have ever had. he drops the lowest test if you do your hw and the lowest lab if you show up. he teaches in a way that is easy to understand. he is always there to help students, makes everything very clear. practice test is exact set up as acutal test. HIGHY RECOMENDED!

Prof. Hemlow is the best. He's so easy going but it also very clear when teaching stats. He creates ways to remember how to do the problems and very easy to approach. Homework is extra credit and he doesn't take attendance. He cancelled class probably 3 or 4 times but it didn't interfere with us learning the material. I highly recommend him.

Hes a great teacher. Took for precal 2. He curved the class grade I would have got a D. But thats only because I didn't attend class. If you do you will understand everything. Don't really need the text because his notes are very thorougher and he post them online.

Prof Hemlow was a very nice and interesting guy. Every class was easy, material was taught clearly, all assignments are done thru webstudy so you don't have to do mymathlab. Although all the tests have questions from the HW, there are some confusing questions on there. Makes it easy for you to pass, but if exams aren't for you, I would not take.

I love professor Hemlow!!!!!! He is so nice!!! This Fall semester we had a teacher that was so terrible and people complained so our math teachers got switched! He is an angel from heaven! I would have failed math with the other teacher for intermediate algebra but with Mr. Hemlow, I am getting A's on the tests! He is neat and organized! I 3 him!

No need for textbook. attendance is optional and the most of all is that he is easy and clear.

Professor Hemlow has been one of my favorite math professors. He is very clear as to what is expected, and teaches to simplify difficult concepts. He is very caring of students, and open to working with you. He has handled the pandemic flawlessly, going out of his way to help everyone in the class. Amazing guy.

Professor Hemlow is probably one of the best teachers in the Math department. He cares about his students a lot, and he definitely knows his stuff. He made Calculus 1 class 10 times easier. He handled the transition from in-class to remote sync amazingly. He always checks on his students to see how they are doing. I definitely recommend taking him!

Great Calc 2 Professor, had him for the summer semester online. Class is pretty fast-moving, but the workload is manageable. Compared to other professors his MyMathLab homework is more reasonable, 5-6 problems per lesson versus some teachers who give like 20.

good stats professor, the material for stats was well explained. If you review the labs, review the notes and make the effort to understand the material you will do on the tests.

Professor Hemlow was a good professor overall but for an online course, I suggest you take it in person. You are teaching yourself and you submit the hw whenever you want, its all due at the end of the semester. Very understanding professor.

Amazing professor. I believe this was his final year teaching, but I am very glad to have had the opportunity to have Professor Hemlow as one of my professors. Really helped me through Calculus 2 and was overall a very down to earth and caring professor.
