He is nice and makes a lot of fun in each class. Clear and understandable. Study lecture-notes before exams. Easy to get an A.

His lectures are hilarious and awesome. I thought taking a class at 8 would be a pain, but I looked forward to attending his class everytime. It gets the day going. No homework. Tests are base on his lecture notes. By the way, he resembles Jack Bauer in 24 (Kiefer Sutherland)

Super rad teacher. Very easy class. Just come to class for the lecture and you can pass the class. One small paper and all you do is watch a movie and relate it to class topics.

Dont buy the book, never used it. but class is interesting and does not drag. class was 4 hours, but seemed shorter. 1 paper to write, and a group project. good guy too!

Professor Lockwood is my favorite teacher OF ALL TIME!!!!! He is HILARIOUS and his stories are SO awesome! His life is so interesting and you find yourself wanting to know more! Don't even ask about the tests, easy peasy! It's all based on your notes, and I think it's nearly impossible to get lower than a C in his class! Impossible!!

I took him over the Summer, and i'll tell you, i wasn't bothered waking up in the morning to attend his class. He makes everything easy to understand and funny. I strongly recommend you to take him as your teacher.

He is AMAZING! Doesn't teach the traditional method of public speaking, teaches you how to ACTUALLY DO IT and apply it to real life! He has a great energy and makes it easy to sit through a 3 hour class. Plus the textbook is tiny, like 100 pages, and costs around $17. Almost no hw and you talk about things that interest you! TAKE HIM!

i really like professor lockwood. he is so passionate about teaching speech and it radiates! he's funny, enthusiastic and easy going. i would definitely recommend this class, especially if you feel anxious about public speaking. he has a way of helping you learn to relax and enjoy what you're sharing with the audience.

I just finished taking his Speech 101 class this summer. He is a great teacher. If you pay attention to the lectures the Test Reviews will just serve as refreshers. The lectures are so interesting that you catch on to everthing he is talking about. You learn such great communications skills this class has helped me in my personal relationships.

Instructor is very knowledgeable on topic. He is very relatable and easy to talk to.

Easy,fun,& I like his attitude.I took him for a one day class and he made it easier for my class bc he took out one chapter and unassigned the group project that the other 2 day classes had to take.Just make sure you print the notes off blackboard b4 class to be prepared to take notes.He teaches by powerpoint.Tests are based on notes & no quizzes.

I don't know how anyone could not like this guy, he's awesome. Try to petition his class if you need it for your ge; he tries to take everyone. it'll be the class you actually look forward to sitting through. Four tests and 3 debates is a good deal for a relatively easy A. He also lets you use a cheat card for the tests in case you forget anything.

DONT BUY HIS BOOK FOR ANY OF HIS CLASSES...HE DOESNT EVEN USE IT. at least for 101 and 140 we didnt use even though it said in the syllabus and he says it in the beginning of the semester

This is a brilliant professor. He has done some research that is now recognized around the world. Full of energy. You MUST read the book (each chapter at least twice for an A) but then again people that don't read their textbooks are wasting their time in college. Take him!

This class was one of the most interesting classes I've taken. He's a really nice and active teacher. Loved this class. We didn't use the textbook at all though out the year, and he gives you all the notes.

Mr. Lockwood is a great teacher! His class is so fun and entertaining! It is a pretty easy class just show up every class and study the terms to receive a good grade on hw assignments and exams, and do your best on the debates. Highly recommend Mr. Lockwood! He's awesome!

He is a very easy teacher. Show up to class and do your debates. He only gives 2 test online and you get to do it at home. Also the homework is online too. Super easy class. And he's an amazing teacher.

Lockwood is the best Professor for the communications department I have taken him for 140 and finally I passed him in 102 he is just the best there is no questions he is a fair grader and very nice I enjoyed his class because he gives little work, but be prepared for speeches. I'm going to take him for 206 that's how much I enjoy his class. 3 times

From all the classes I have taken with him Gender Communications was by far the best. I learned so much about genders that I now know why homosexuality is a big deal. Get ready for group projects because it is a big chunk of your grade. Mr. Lockwood grades fair and wants you to pass, he is very passionate about his job, and wants everyone to pass.

Lance Lockwood is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He is so passionate about what he teaches and gets you excited about giving 6-8 minute long speeches. It's still scary but he teaches you to give your speeches as if you were just having a conversation with your audience. Amazing lectures, amazing teacher, amazing person.

Most take. I took debate with him and it was fun! You do have to be in front of the class a lot which I hated doing but after the second debate u get over it and it's fun. I took him for summer so it was fast but you do Need the book and to do homework but it's all online and so are exams. I would totally take him again if I needed to

Lance Lockwood is an incredible debate teacher, clear, and tells you exactly how to debate and what to debate. Very fair grader, do the homework, participate in all the debates, and you will pass! I would take him again if my gen eds required it for another course he teaches. Do not miss the opportunity to take him for a class you will love it.

i took him in spring of 2014 and failed then took him again in the summer and passed! everything is online in class you just do debates i wish he would teach more but anyways. tests and hw are online make sure you do well on them!

He is hilarious! i guarantee it will be a fun class, even if you are shy! You will be required to do a speech and a lot of arguing about a topic he chooses. There is also online homework and tests but not a lot. i definitely recommend taking him!

Great teacher class is so fun you debate in class and do the reading and quizzes at home. if you participate and act like you car you'll pass biggest struggle is the online work textbook will help you pass. the test are basically the quizzes and you can retake the quiz many times

Gender Comm. is one my favorite classes that I've taken at SAC. Lockwood explains material that might be complicated to some in a very straightforward and understandable manner. He assigned good group discussion questions, and easy, but interesting papers. Some drawbacks were he never emailed when class was canceled and he often got distracted.

Professor Lockwood is the best. He is the literal definition of charming. His class was easy and pretty clear as far as grading. Not a tough grader but his teaching style makes you want to do your best. Glad I took him over summer. He's so funny too! Real 10/10 for sure

I had the privelage of taking professor Lockwood and from the first day of class I knew I'd be enjoying myself. We give 3 major speeches and have 1 midterm, honestly his grading isn't heavy I know my speeches sucked and I still passed but if you at least tried that's all that matters :)

A truly great professor. Engages the students on a comical level. The grading is very straight forward for debates. The tests are super hard... as in holy woah it melts your brain. If you pay attention and do the homework youll definitely get it, but the subject matter is difficult if youre just trying to skate by. Great guy.

Amazing down to earth teacher! He exhibits amazing lectures, hardly no homework. Basically show up for class and participate and thats about it. Quizzes are easy to do in textbook, they resemble exactly the online final youve at the end of semester!

I was absolutely terrified of public speaking. Professor Lockwood made each class session so much fun. He made it very comfortable and always gave good tips on how to over come the fear of being infront of an audience. Easy class. You do 4 debates. You can do an extra debate per debate period for extra credit. Tests are exactly the same as the homework. Tests and homework are done online at home. One lecture. Lecture needed for first test. Honestly take pictures of the homework to study for the tests. Exact same questions on homework and tests for the most part.

Took his 8 week class, and honestly it was sooo easy. If you fail its probably because your too lazy or you didnt buy the book til last minute. Homework was super easy. Exams are exactly the same as the homework questions. Offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. 3 debates, which he gives you the format on how to do. Hes hilarious, and cares.

Professor Lockwood is a great person and is caring and ultimately wants you to succeed. The exams can be taken by yourself or with a group, I'd suggest a group but no more than 7 in a group. There is 4 debates and EC debates, I did 3 extra. Professor Lockwood is the 2019 distinguished faculty for SAC, so take the course, it's a great class.

Hes super easy!! Open book exam/ group exam. Hes also funny and he makes the class interesting. For debate classes tho, communication is extremely important! If u r introvert or shy or not good in English, not recommended. Lots of talking, socializing, and public speaking almost every classes.

Professor Lockwood is so passionate about teaching gender. He really has helped me view life in a different way. He's so caring and will do anything to help you pass the class. 10/10 recommend, if you don't pass the class you're simply just super lazy.

I recommend taking Mr. Lockwood. There are quizzes all you need to do is read from the book and take quiz. A few debates you over come the fear the first time and the next debate your all good. If you need help his always there just a email away. He response in a timely matter. Participate in class .

I took his 8-week online class and it was really straightforward. There's weekly homework but its pretty easy. Midterm and Final. There are two debates, however, the first one everyone gets full credit the second one is where you're graded based on how well you debate. Overall if you do the work you'll pass.

I did the summer course with this Professor and I highly recommend this Professor! He really helped me grow in my public speaking and made me feel more confident. I love his methods in teaching and by far is one of the best teachers I've had. Watch his videos and take notes and there should be no problem in passing.

I'm about to finish up Professor Lockwood's class on public speaking, truthfully he is an inspiring teacher. His lectures are super passionate and honestly it's hard to get board in his slides and presentations. As someone whose major is not communications, it was honestly such an invigorating class to take.

I loved his class so much. He does not grade on how well you speak, he grades on how you get your message across. I have a stutter and he did not deduct points for it, nor give me advice on how to change it. He makes you feel comfortable. I recommend.

I took him for an Online class. Great professor! Answers immediately, super friendly. Classwork is easy,homework every weekend, easy but takes a bit long. Exams are pretty easy as well, its just hw questions. We also do 2 parliamentary debates where we meet on zoom. You do need to purchase the online book for access to assignments but its cheap.

I took his class for a winter semester and it was one of the easiest and most enjoyable courses I have done. I am not a fan of public speaking but his lectures made things so much interesting that I had full focus all the way. Has a few easy quizzes from the videos and a few speeches that allow you to choose your story. Great Professor!

Super cool Professor. Gives good debate topics and the in-class debates are interesting to watch. There is a debate every class period, in which you have to participate in some but not all. Easy homework and exams. Simple class overall.

This professor's lessons were very interesting, he talked about ancient Rome, Greece, and other cultures on how public speaking is involved. I liked his genuine personality and empathy, knowing that my first language is not English he does not judge about mispronunciation but the content I share through my speech.

Lockwood is the best professor I've ever had! I took CMST102 online and the work was very manageable. The course consisted of quizzes, written reactions, and discussion posts (videos). Also, his grading and rubric was very easy. Overall, would take this course again :)

Excellent professor with amazing lecture videos. He wants you to get out of your shell and he does a good job encouraging discussion between classmates. Quizzes are very easy, discussion boards do require some work--you have to record yourself speak (with camera on). He's very kind and enthusiastic, definitely a great speaker! Highly recommend!

I was honestly nervous about taking argumentation and debate, but he gives clear instructions/ examples and work is due on only certain days so you got sufficient time to do it! I loved how he took the time to provide feedback on my debates. You do need to read for quizzes, but not too much!

Professor Lockwood's course was extremely informative and engaging. There are about 2-3 lectures that he posts per week, and each lecture has an accompanied open-note quiz that aren't hard, usually 15-20 questions per quiz. 3 parliament style debates total that aren't much work. Debates are video on, but aren't long. Overall an amazing class.

He records himself reading lectures, making everything personal, manageable, and accessible for students with learning disabilities.
