Lots of demos and plenty of humor. By the way, I also learned A LOT! I never took so many notes in a class (attendance is important). Related chemistry to everyday life. The best teacher I've ever had.
He was awsome! if you can believe he made chemistry interesting....... did a lot of in class demostrations. very important to attend classes and take a lot of notes.
The classes i took from lund were very difficult, but possibly because i made them even more difficult for myself. I showed up for only 50% of the time for 1061. I enjoyed 1062 a lot more than 1061 though because it involves more math, but the math is not too hard. Make sure you take good notes, read the book, and study hard!
Great professor. He is the one who got me interested enough in chemistry to pick it as a major.
Lund was pretty cool. Very fair, you get to drop one test, quiz and lab score. Try to get him for lab as well as lecture, I think that helps a lot.
He is very smart, but his teaching is hard to understand. He states what you're learning about, then he just goes right into examples. he doesnt explain things, what they mean or why their improtant. Also, he acts like he is way better then the students. I think that he treats students like their dumb and below him when they ask him questions.
His tests can be a little tricky. Sometimes he goes into a little too much detail when asking a question. Good teacher and does many examples. Just make sure that you can focus on chemistry...be careful with what other classes you take it with.
Awesome teacher! Very clear in what he expects from you in order for you to earn the grade you want. Lets you drop your lowest exam score! Would definitely recommend him!
I also had him for 1062. As a person he is alright. He did a lot of in class demos but he did act like he was above us. He missed class for 2 days and we were expected to teach ourselves half a chapter of material. If you pay attention in class and study you will do alright in the class.
Best teacher I ever had. Course was challenging for me, as I had returned to school after several years. He did many demos, told a few stories related to chemistry and some chemistry jokes. Exams were hard, but fair. My experience with Professor Lund persuaded me to pursue a career in science teaching - I teach chemistry and physics now myself.
Prof. Lund's tests were decently hard, but as long as you studied for them you should do well. His in class demonstrations were very fun!
Great teacher!
I highly recommend for lecture and lab! Expect in-depth lectures and demos. The majority of your grade comes from the exams, so be sure to study! He is very helpful and has a few funny stories and bad chemistry jokes every now and then. I came into the class having a fairly decent knowledge of the course material, so it was easy for me.
He knows chemisty very well. He loves the subject. He loves to teach. He is enthusiastic about chemistry and students. He frequently performs helpful demonstrations in class. He was very helpful in lab. Excellent use of technology. I am very fond of him and his class. Has online office hours and nearly unlimited office hours. Loved by all.
Lance was the best chemistry I've ever had, and I highly recommend him for teaching in all the areas of chemistry for both beginners and advanced placement students. Lance is extremely intelligent and has the canning ability to simplify the material in such a way that beginners can make sense of it. Furthermore, Lance is very helpful, if one goes
acceptable
Great teacher. Took online course and requirements were clearly outlined. Really made chemistry fun. Have fun at the final!
GREAT TEACHER:)
Lance is great! He has great demos, bad chemistry jokes, and he also appreciates and acknowledges students who try their hardest. Take plenty of notes and do your online homework since the concepts show up on the exam!
I took Chemistry before and had to withdraw, so I had major anxiety taking this class. Professor Lund was always willing to answer questions, and he did it in a patient manner that guided you to your own conclusions. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone with apprehension about taking Chemistry. He's the prof to have! Great demos and nice.
I only had him for Lab but found him to be very clear about his guidlines and helpful when I had questions.
Awesome teacher! Very clear in his teachings, not a better chem teacher out there. Does cool demos and loves to blow stuff up when he can!
Lund is an awesome teacher! Very clear and patient with students. He has cool demos and is very interested in his field which keeps students interested. I would definitely reccommend him for Chemistry. He's awesome but like any other chem class.. the text is manditory.
Great teacher who obviously enjoys teaching. Difficulty is just right - hard enough to be engaging, not so hard that it's overwhelming. Present and accessible in lab and office hours. Overall great experience with his class.
Easy to follow. Entertaining - lots of demos. Sitting in front row would be like sitting front row of shamu show. Posts lecture audio and video online. Tests are fair, but challenging. Unreasonably strict on the no makeup for any reason policy - do drop one exam.
One of the best professors in the department. He really has a strong passion for chemistry and teaching. I also had him for lab which was fun. I would highly suggest him to other peers.
Fantastic professor!! Is really enthusiastic about chemistry and trys to pass that on to his students. He was always willing to help if you needed it. Loved this professor and can't wait to take another course with him
Mr. Lunds online course is extremely difficult! Studying for several hours per night, taking notes, doing the end of chapter questions...etc WILL NOT be enough to earn an A. He spells this out in a threatening e-mail prior to the first day of class. Beware of totally online Chemistry courses!
unless you're good in maths and chemistry in general dont take this class online... i ended up dropping the class at the end cuz i couldn't keep up with all the online work.
Mr. Lund is tough but I think he has our best interest in mind. The online course is VERY difficult. If you have a full time job...don't take an online Chem class, especially during the summer. It's very fast pace and involves HOURS of studying every day.
I absolutely loved this class because of Mr. Lund!!(I didn't succeed in Chem in high school) He made everything so clear. Plus he voice recorded every lecture and his notes and posted them online, so I literally attended class once a week and still got an A!! I am 100% going to take all my Chem classes through him. :)
First online class I took with college-level expectations. Taking it during the summer was painful. Lund provides explanations on video for homework, labs, textbook problems, and demos. I got a B - just be prepared to work.
He is a really great professor and really enjoys teaching you can tell. He is very helpful and does lots of demos! I learned a lot from his class!!
Excellent online chemistry course! Prof. Lund communicates clearly and effectively. He clearly loves teaching and it shows in his recorded lectures and online availability for students. He was always quick to respond when asked for help and more than willing to go the extra mile for a student that wanted to learn. I would highly recommend!
Professor Lund is the best! My friend told me to take him. Glad I did. He does some really cool demos and tells a few funny jokes. Be careful though. Some are pretty corny. Hope he teaches 1061 soon.
I took his class last semester and all I can say is that he is such a great professor. He cares for his students. He actually inspires me to major in chemistry. If you do your homework and review occasionally, then you're all set for a 4.0 grade.
This is not a course that can be taken lightly if you expect to get an A or a B (for some, to even attain a C). Professor Lund is an excellent instructor with crystal clear expectations that he'll hold you to. Still, he's personable, reasonable, has a great sense of humor, and his passion for chemistry makes learning from him enjoyable & rewarding.
Great professor!
Prof Lund was awesome! Chemistry didnt come easy to me, and he makes it just about as fun as it can be! He likes doing experiments, and if your in the front row you get the best show! I would recommend him to everyone! If you work hard you will succeed in his class!Take this Professor!!
Professor Lund's class has been the best science class ever. I had no confidence at all at the start of the semester. However, Professor Lance took his time to explain the course material so well that now i could "balance chemical equations half asleep.lol" What a great Professor. His tablet PC even makes the class cooler. Thank you.
Prof Lund was extremely helpful and offered plenty of ways to be successful in his online course. If you read the discussion posts you will stay in the loop. Plan on 2-4 hours per week just for the labs that you'll do on your own. It moves fast so you can't let yourself fall behind.
You will thoroughly enjoy this class. I've never met a professor who enjoyed blowing things up so much!See if you can get him for the lab too. Lots of fun and it will help if you read the material before the class lecture. Prof. Lund likes students who know the material. I had a great time in this class.
I had Lance many years ago (mid 1990s) and he was one of the best teachers I have had, including law school. I took the first level chemistry class which was essentially the same material I failed a year before in high school and received a strong A. I was certainly not a strong student back then so I attribute much of my success to him.
Took this class online over the summer, I hadn't taken a class in over 10 years and never an online class. Prof Lund is an excellent teacher, he obviously put in a ton of time into class prep and it shows. This is not an easy class and it takes a lot of time and commitment. Prof Lund goes out of his way to help students succeed.
This was my first class in about 8 years. My very first class online. He is VERY detailed in what he expects from you and what you can expect from him. He is also very detailed in the 'HOW to' of this class. I must say in all of my college exp. he is a TOP NOTCH instructor! 'You definitely get out what you put into it'.
I was very impressed by his online class. Professor Lund had high expectations, but also made sure he gave you all the tools to succeed in his class. He was very organized and his response time was great! I really enjoyed learning from him!
Professor Lund knows what he is talking about ! He really loves chem. but can get boring. Can see judgy at first, but he is nice! The course itself is fairly easy, just make sure you do little things like Mastering Chemistry and attending lab! He also posts all his lectures and notes online so if you miss a day it's on D2L ! take him !!
Mr. Lund provides a large amount of resources to better learn chemistry. If you use the tools that he provides and put in the time required you can do well in the class. He makes things clear and easy to understand.
I took Professor Lund's 1061 course . Professor Lund is the best Professor anyone could have. His course is not an easy grade It is an environment where you learn. Professor Lund REALLY does want his students to be successful and expects the same from each of his students. In Professor Lund's class you will learn and never regret you took His class
I really enjoyed this class. I know I will never be a chemist but this class was so much fun. There was never a dull moment while he was doing experiments. He really enjoys teaching and it is shown while he lectures.
Lance Lund was my first professor into college, and I have to say I loved this class and was said for it to end. May seem that he acts "above everyone" but it's just him talking at a professional level and thats just how he is. Tells you EXACTLY what will be on exams! Would deff. take chem with Prof. Lund!
Professor Lund is always organized! Before he begins lecture he reminds you of thing coming up(assignments due, classes canceled, holidays, extra credit due.. Etc) He does tests and right out of his lectures and he records nearly every lecture! You can get video of what he writes down while he is teaching! For such a hard class he lightens the load
Wonderful professor! Very clear, understands his subject extremely well. Very willing to help students. He expects a lot, but is willing to give just as much. Would recommend him to anyone.
Lund is great professor! I had him for 1020 last semester and purposely took him again. He does a good job at explaining the material and answering questions. He is all for helping students out if they ask. I highly recommend him!
Lund is great professor! i had him for 1020 and purposely took him again. He is good at explaining the material and answering questions. He is willing to help if you ask. I highly recommend him.
Very professional. Good explanation over subject materials. I recommend Professor Lund.
AWESOME teacher! He explains everything so well and works through all the problems with you. He is open to questions and generally cares that you do well.
Lund rocks! does demos almost every class and relates what we learn to everyday things around us. rock candy, hand warmers, MREs, fireworks, CFLs, drugs, weather, food, you name it. Tests are hard but fair.
Had this class online last semester, theworst expirence ive ever had with a professor he wants you to come in and ask questions but if you do he just looks at you like how do you not know that already. I don't know why everyone gives him great reviews.. DO not take his course especially online.
He's a straight forward teacher, and sets clear guidelines. With some effort and attendance you'll do fine.
Professor Lund's class was a very challangeing class to take online. However, he is always avaliable to help and aid you in learning the material. If you put in the effort, his class is great to take. He is very friendly and enjoyable to lean from. I would recoment his class to others.
Professor Lund was an easy-going professor so to say. He had guidelines of what you are supposed to get done and when it is due. He engaged more in this class than any other class I have had and I am a junior in college. I would recommend him for any chemistry class. If you put in your end of the work, it will definitely show in your overall grade.
Prof Lund is one of the best professors I have had in an online or seated class. I was in his online Chem 1020 summer class, it was challenging and a huge time commitment. He is regularly available for student questions and you can tell that he cares about his students and their success. He has a great sense of humor and makes the class enjoyable.
Lance is a great guy and a great teacher. This class is tough and would be a great idea to do the practice problems to do well in the class. He does a good job going over the problems and is very helpful when asked for help. There isn't very much homework besides the post labs but advise reading ahead to get a good idea of whats to come.
Professor Lund is an amazing teacher. The class is a challenge but very fun. Professor Lund is avaliable and willing to help with questions. I took this classes online and have never had any chemistry before. Your grade will reflect the work you put in. Professor Lund made the class though.
I took Professor Lund's online Chem1020 class and he was awesome!! Chemistry is never an easy class, simply because the material is difficult. But Professor Lund was great at providing more than enough advice and materials to help his students succeed. You could tell that he truly loves his job and cares about his students. Best professor I've had!
I do not recommend taking online chemistry. It sounds great, but it's really not. The teacher is good and gives you a lot of resources. But it's the most overwhelming class I have ever taken in my entire 3 years. He assigns multiple tough assignments throughout the week, with no consideration for exam weeks.
Class was challenging, not impossible, labs proved to be interesting with some fun. The workload/studying seemed a tad heavy but to be expected for the credits & it being an online science with lab, & not my normal background. When a question came up or clarity was needed Prof. Lund responded in a timely manner with supportive answers. Thank you!
Very good teacher. I expected to flunk the class due to past records and ended up with a B. Cares about your grade and is available outside class to help. Not a lot of homework, but would recommend doing all of it. The extra credit homework really helps with future classes and upcoming tests. Would most certainly take another class by him.
Lectures are informative and it will be hard if you miss them, but he posts them online if you do. He is very strict about lab work, but they are easy to pass. Make sure to study for the tests and do the online homework. you hardly use the textbook.
Taking an online chemistry course is obviously going to be difficult, which it was. He records lectures for online students to listen to which is nice to be able to stop and hear it again. The at home labs were really easy and fun. Four at home exams, if you know the info you will do fine. Taking this class online was a great choice for me at least
He is a wonderful teacher. He records his lectures and posts them online. Not a lot of homework but recommended. Tests are easy if you know the material. Don't need the textbook at all.
Prof. Lund is really funny and nice. However his extra credit take a lot of time and effort, and there is at least one question on every test that was never discussed in class which made them kinda difficult. He also speeds through the lessons. But overall, with your effort, he's pretty great.
Prof. Lund is super nice and encouraging. He was really helpful when I had questions in this course. Anything covered in class, the book, and in lab is fair game to be on the test. He had plenty of extra credit opportunities. The extra credit maxes out at 10 points.
I enjoyed Prof. Lund class. He did a good job of teaching the information in class. Me, as a PSEO student, needed extra help and he was always willing to help. The tests are usually fair but there's always like a long word problem that might give you troubles. Overall, good class and good professor.
Lance is an AMAZING professor. I loved how he taught in 1020 so I made sure to also take him in 1061. Though it's harder class, he does an amazing job as always. Great lectures, super funny, and really wants you to know the material. He wants you to succeed and provides you with all the tools you need to do so.
Lance was an amazing professor. If I had to give a tip to ppl, the first one would be DO NOT SKIP CLASS. I skipped class maybe two times and when I went back the next day I was extremely lost. I also tried reading the textbook but I can never understand them so I just ended up asking family for help. Overall, Lance was a great prof and super hilari
I took his hybrid chem 1020 class and was terrified to take chemistry primarily online. I would HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone not wanting to waste time. Labs and homework are online, lectures are 1 day/week in class. I spent 1 day a week on this class and studied the night before exams and finished with a high A. Chem was so easy with him.
Without a doubt best science teacher I've ever had. He's organized, funny, grades promptly, and makes things easy to understand. If you do the work, practice, and ask questions when you don't understand something you'll do just fine in this class.
Prof. Lund makes you work for your grade. His tests are hard, but he drops the lowest exam score, MC quiz, pre-lab quiz, and lab score. He offers a maximum of 10 points extra credit. He will not round a borderline grade. He's always updated with the discussion board and is very quick to answer questions. He cares about his students.
Best science teacher I've ever had thus far. His tests are pretty easy if you study and take notes during his lecture and from the book. At the end of the semester he drops your lowest exam score, MC quiz, and lab score. He doesn't round your grade even if you're at the border but he's awesome. He engages during lecture and makes it interesting.
Great Professor. Caring of his students and wants them to succeed. Uses Mastering Chemistry online and kind of has a lot of homework. Most is extra credit. Gives chance to do extra credit from the labs that they don't schedule to do in class. I hated science/chem before I took this class. Lance made it really fun. Would definitely take him again.
He is very passionate about chemistry! SUPER funny guy! Exams are hard, but that comes with the study of chemistry. You need to study. Lectures are interesting and filled with experiments. I highly recommend him!
I really enjoyed Lund's class. He gives really good lectures and he posts them on d2l so if you couldn't make class you still have access. I would recommend going though, as he does demonstrations and gives a couple opportunities for in class extra credit. He is very strict with his grading and does not wave from the grading standards posted.
He does alot of fun experiments in almost every class. His lectures are clear with the ability to review through D2L if you miss class with extra supplemental guides. Do not miss lab! Will drop your grade significantly. Extra credit, which at times repeats in homework. Do end of chapter questions for exams. Labs-no fire/explosions , fairly easy.
Lunds tests are usually free-response and can be quite difficult if not prepared well for. Hes very picky about giving partial credit on problems, but hes always available before and after tests to answer questions/prepare. His lectures were great and are all available online as recordings or pdfs. Would definitely take him again.
He gives very clear guidelines of what's expected of his students for the semester. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities which also help to prepare for exams. Like any other class be ready to work for the grade you want. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a professor who can crack a joke but also has professionalism.
The only way you won't pass is if you don't try. Offers lots of practice on d2l and uploads every lecture. Also offers lots of extra credit. Made lectures fun and engaging. Great professor!
The class was ok. The teacher was really insistent about reading the textbook and doing all the exercises and all that, but you could go to the lecture and do the required hw and you will get it. Is just good
Very hard grader and does NOT do anything to help his failing students. He blames you for failing, even if over 82% of the class fails anything. Everything is your fault and does not give you advice on how to improve your grade. Taking this class is equivalent to signing up for failure.
I have never received such a terrible grade (c) in all my years in college, high school and prior to that. He does NOT allow any excuses and does NOT understand family emergencies. He makes you take exams under 60 minutes with 50 long questioned questions that need to be broken down. He sets you up for automatic failure.
This class is horrible. The labs and quizzes each took me a day to complete. The exams have unrealistic time restraints. Time to learn each topic is unrealistic. I almost got Fs in other classes for fear of missing a thing in this. The final is based on everything in the class and is proctored, and may make you retake another exam proctered.
This professor has been the hardest when it comes to grading things. No accommodation to family emergencies or mental health. I never once have I wrote a bad review about anyone, sadly here I am. He can be tough when it comes to grading. You need to attend in person class ONLY to pass or you will fail, regardless amount spent studying. Best wishes!
Prof Lund was extremely helpful, replied fast, and genuinely cares about his students. I took the online class and it was difficult but that was because I slacked but still passed with a B. As long as you watch the lectures, do the reading, and put in the work then you'll do fine. He also offers extra credit. Textbook readings also helped.
Mr. Lund is great! The syllabus is clear & contains every due date. He makes his own practice problems (in D2L) that come with explanation vids . All of the MC practice homework sets are for extra credit. The tests can be hard, but your score will reflect how hard you worked. Make sure to take notes and you'll do fine! (lots of extra credit too)
One of the best professors Ive had. EVER
Great Professor Overall!
This teacher was indeed a tough grader, however, if you put the time and effort into the grade that you wish, it's just a normal college course. The syllabus is straight forward and easy to follow. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities that are available as well as open accessibility outside of class.
As a PSEO student, this was my first time taking a chemistry course. Considering this was an online class, Prof Lund did a great job at teaching the material. I only attended the lectures and never had to touch the textbook readings. One word of advice is to do the practice problems and quizzes, it will help with learning material!
Prof. Lund was by far the best professor I've had in my experience. He really knows how to explain new content so that we can follow along and is extremely welcoming to questions or help in general. Just put in the work and what's taught in class and you'll get an A!
I really enjoyed his class! He made lectures interesting.
Nice guy. His lecture videos are very helpful with learning material along with the quick checks. Chemistry is tough, but Lund makes it less painful. The syllabus is clear on how assignments are graded and theres a lot of extra credit points.
Test are overviewed by Proctorio making them extremely stressful. The general learning environment was far from ideal and the professor was not understanding when it came to any personal issues that came up. Tests are extremely difficult - for reference I have nearly a perfect record and I got a C in this class. My least favorite online class.
Professor Lund was very clear and concise about his syllabus which made this class predictable. You earn your grade. The harder you work to learn the material the better grade you will get. You wont pass this course by skipping on learning the material. Know the materialpass the class.
I took CHEM1020 online, which meant that a majority of Professor Lund's lectures were in the form of videos. Even with this, though, it felt like I was present in his classroom for the whole semester. I got to watch experiments, demos, and lectures all in the comfort of my own home. I'm grateful for his adaptability and quality in his work :)
I took the online asynchronous Chem 1020 course. The D2L page was very organized, and the syllabus was clear and specific on grading criteria. There were lots of opportunities for extra credit. Since the class is asynchronous, it is a lot of work, but if you put in the time, you are almost guaranteed to do well in the class and learn something new.
I took this professor because of the good reviews and I regret it badly.. you have a lab every Monday and it' EXTREMELY HARD. His grading is absolutely insane. You measure things and if you're even.1 off you'll fail the whole thing... His D2L is NOT organized I don' know why everyone says it is when my classmates and I all agree it' not. DONT TAKE
This professor has been super helpful when you have questions or if you need clarification on anything. He has labs due every Monday which can get a little stressful, but once you get into the lab, they actually get super fun and interesting to do. He has great opportunities for extra credit every week which is awesome!
You have to practice, watch lectures and read to get a good grade in this class. It is not going to be an easy A but it is definitely doable. If you have difficulty with a question or topic, go to his office hours. Do not procrastinate with this class and review all tests for the final. Good professor but you have to put in the work.
I enjoyed taking chemistry with Professor Lund! I had no prior knowledge of chemistry, but his class made the lessons understandable. We had 1-2 chapters to work through per week with practice problems and extra credit. We had one lab per week and 5 exams including the final. Overall, if you put the work in you will do well in this class.
Prof. Lund really knows what he's doing teaching an online class. As long as you look at the calendar and do the assignments in order, you will have no problem navigating the course. There are lots of opportunities for extra credit as well. The material is not hard at all as long as you do the reading and the practice sets.
Overall, he was a really fun professor and I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to understand the material, as it was an asynchronous Chemistry class, after all. The methods he used had us applying what we were learning in multiple ways, and was a great way to prepare for exams.
I just want to say that I had to do a lot of outside research and YouTube to understand the content we were given. One thing that would happen a lot is, when we would be taught one thing in the lectures, the quiz and problems that followed were sometimes completely different and required you to do outside research to probably still get it wrong.
He gave an exceptional amount of ways to take notes, and ensured that we had plenty of resources to test our knowledge before we took the quizzes or exams. This was a full online class so the teaching style was mostly self taught/self paced, but the amount of notes made it very manageable and easy to learn. Great Professor.
He must have had some truly egregious cheating from previous classes, because there are so many anti-cheat roadblocks built in that every lab takes about 50% longer than it has any right to. Very disturbing that I will have sent 20 pictures of my driver's license, so my full name and address, to prove that I didn't steal someone else's lab results.
My sister and I both took chem this summer. She took hers at her college, but had to drop. Plans to do Lance's class this fall. Labs were easy, but some were long. Lots of homework and grades skew more to exams. Lance provides lots of examples with videos and practice problems for extra credit. Do the work and you'll be fine. Great professor!
I've been a straight A student all my life. Unfortunately, I failed an exam. I reached out to ask if there was anything I could do to improve my grade. He said that failing is a hard lesson in life and there was nothing I could do. He told me I was doing the bare minimum in class: very untrue. Joining this class? Prepare for his YouTube video.
Lance Lund had a well laid out course since day one, in the syllabus he had a schedule on when everything was due so you wouldn't forget. while there was a fair amount of work he had it all evenly spaced out making it easier. he knew how to work D2L so things would show up when you needed them and would stay hidden if you weren't ready.
Professor Lund was very organized, is very good at responding to you, and gives you lots of feedback. The lectures and the online textbook provide you with all the information you need for the course, I never had to google or youtube anything. I learned a lot in his class and I would definitely recommend this class for others to take!
Professor Lund has been one of my favorite professors. He was very organized and had everything you needed well laid out from day one of the course. The online textbook, lectures, and videos that he provided held all of the information you needed and more, so I never felt lost or confused. I highly recommend taking his class!
Professor Lund was great! He was very fast at responding to emails and providing help when needed. The workload was a lot, but that was due to it being a summer course. All of the material was necessary to complete and if you did it, you will pass the tests/quizzes.
Chemistry is not an easy class at all it is a lot of studying, but Mr lance was very straightforward and was easy to talk with.
This dude is a great teacher. Hes real and will tell you if you're slacking. I kind of goofed off in his class back in 2018 and ironically am now a chemist for a major company. I'm coming back to rate him cuz he actually cared about us learning chemistry. I hope he continues teaching and that he reads this so he knows he made an impact.
