this teacher is probably one of the best lab teachers ever. he's so helpful and nice. if you get him, all his quizzes are easy, he's such an easy grader. he also formats the quizzes so that it can match up to the final so its all easy and stuff like that.
very easy class. just study for his quizes and pay attention to what you're doing in the labs and you should get an A. He's a very helpful and down to earth teacher.
He's such a great teacher and such a nice guy. He really goes out of his way for his students and makes sure they stay on top of things. He also takes the time to learn his students' names which is very nice.
This is a great teacher. I wish all my teachers took the time to help out their students the way he did. He is always available to tutor or through emails just for a quick question. You really can't get a better hands on teacher.
Great teacher! Knows his subject, organized, helpful, and clear. Agree with other comments. Very nice guy. If you can get into his lab, you won't regret.
good class...nice prof. worth taking
Gave out detailed study guides for every test. Tests were very clear.
Good guy, very knowledgable and enthusiastic. He has a lot to say and tends to talk fast. You'll feel like you learned something that you'll actually use in conversations after class. Minimal work, if you don't count reading assignments, which are almost optional. Is willing to make a point about something learned in class on a test: A)oil B)oiletc
Mr. Lund is a very nice young guy who knows soo much about the subject. You learn a lot however his lectures are not very structured so he rambles on A LOT. You really don't need to take as many notes as you think, and his tests are mostly common sense. Good class if you are interested in the subject.
Lance should be "Teacher of the Year" for SFSU.
Boring lectures..info is basically the same from high school bio.
This guy is very interesting and knows what he is talking about. All the tests are on his notes, and the book isn't needed all though assigned. There is no homework, but a couple of short essays. Overall he is a great teacher, just pay attention to his notes.
excellent teacher if you are interested in going deeper into bio. Very easy lectures but tests are a bit difficult (he tries to trick you a lot). If you pay attention to what he has to say in class, then it's impossible to fail.
Dull and tedious. This class is lame like the people that sit in front of the Cesar Chavez building. His lectures were unorganized and hibernation ready. Forget this class and save yourself from his dumb 8ss jokes.
Class is sometimes boring because he rambles but you can tell he has a passion for the subject and the class is remotely easy.
barely went to his class... suggestion : just pay attention to the notes or get it off someone. had to write two essays really easy. got A's on both of the essays but didn't do so well on his tests... tests were hard! but curves a lot. I ended up with a B in his class.. overall, very nice friendly professor!
He is a must for lab class. He's easy going and very friendly, and is a must for a three hour class like lab. His tests are reasonable and based on the notes and experiments, so pay attention. He seems strict on the notebooks, but grades easy. His mini lectures might seem a bit long at times, but at least he can keep your attention. Recommended!
awesome, nice teacher
really nice guy, but class is a bit misleading because the lectures are incredibly simple and boring, but the tests are not as easy as you'd anticipate. still, not hard to get an A, just need to take good notes. definitely go to class, most test questions are from lectures. no need to read, i didn't open the book once and i still got an A.
I am only half way through the course....but it seems like its a peice of cake. His lectures are incredably dull, and he rambles like none other. If you dont mind a boring class, for some easy credit....this is one for you.
Good teacher, I had another biology teacher before this one for the same class, but he was too hard. This professor is a good lecturer and his main focus is to teach you about the human body so that you're better educated next time you go to the doctors, and he definitely achieves this goal. Definitely recommend.
dont pay much attention to the negative ratings. the only reason why they'd say this class is bad is because they dont study and end up failing. this class is straight-forward and easy to follow. just show up to every lecture and you'll do just fine.
Really nice guy. Pretty easy class.
Great teacher. Very interesting lectures, and extremely helpful both inside and outside of class. A decent amount of work in the class, but he grades the work very fairly. Take a class with Lance Lund if you can.
This teacher is terrible has been accusing of students cheating in class without fact just base assumptions and discrimination but his teaching was good but getting accused of cheating in college is insulting especially when you study and work so hard.
His lectures are hard to follow sometimes because he digresses and/or forgets to mention something that he should have gone over the previous day and repeats himself a lot. Because most of his students don't do so well on his exams, he curves the grade. The two papers he assigns can boost your grade, so take advantage and do your best on that.
Although the course number is 100, don't be lulled into a false state of security- Lance Lund is the stereotypical professor everyone dreads (tricky exams, hefty book use, info overload boring lectures, and mind boggling papers). The guy has very high expectations of his students to be on track and keep up with the material.
Pretty good teacher and guy, classes are super boring though. If you go every time and take notes and study you will pass though. Reading isn't very important, though there are some questions from the reading.
lund is pretty cool, his lectures are pretty interesting and very in depth. everything you need for the tests is said in lecture, there are sample tests online that really help w/review. he's pretty cool, i'd take him again. (never accused my class of cheating)
Fair teacher. should attend lectures for notes. sometimes boring.. exams based on notes. he gives helpful study guides and sample exams. 2 well-managed paper, not bad. book not used much. very clear and on track. highly recommended.
A great teacher, and one of the coolest dudes alive.
he's a pretty good teacher. although his lectures are kinda boring. but he knows what he is talking about.
A very nice guy and his teaching style is accessible.
Mr. Lund is a great professor, and very helpful in explaining peoples questions. easy to access and you can actually miss a class without having to freak out about missing notes
Such a great guy!! Talk to him during and after class, and you will find that he is a very understanding and sweet guy. Quizzes are straightforward, he just asks that you listen to the lectures and read the material. I love this class and I would take all my labs with him if i could!
Lance is a perfect example of a great lecturer. He's not a PhD, but seriously, every Bio PhD who teaches intro/undergrad Bio courses should observe and learn from him. He is friendly, engaging, shows a genuine interest in the subject, is very knowledgeable, and yet is never condescending or aloof.
Professor Lund was the best professor I had in SFSU. His style of teaching makes a student feel like he or she can be successful as well. He cares about his students' learning. He is always there if you need help. I don't feel hesitant of asking him questions if I don't understand or something is not clear, not like some Professors. Thank you Sir!
I took Bio 100 w/this guy and I thought he was WAY too hard for what he was teaching. His tests were very difficult and I've never studied so hard. I thought he was extremely boring. Yes he is good to his students, he helps you if you go to him, I just dreaded ever showing up for that class. He's a nice guy, but a VERY hard teacher.
This professor is knowledgeable about the subject, and the type of person who loves teaching. Professor Lund always gives time for his students questions and answers them in a timely manner. He motivates participations in the class, and let you know that you earn points in your grades. Take his class. I assure you're gonna love to learn!

Really really smart teacher. He is helpful and there when you need him. The class is not too difficult if you take the notes he writes in class.
Great teacher! His lectures were straightforward and so were his exams. Most of the material is from lecture and the ones from text are listed in study guide. Also very helpful and patient in office hours. I would definitely take another class from him again.
Not an easy A, but easy class to pass. 2 papers, easy. 3 midterms and 1 final. He curves which will usually bring your grade up one grade. Lectures are somewhat boring. Study guides for each exam which are really helpful, since the exam is really based from the study guide. I would take him again.
TAKE NOTES! reading the book is a good idea but really the notes are what matters. he's hella easy and makes the class focused on health/real life issues cuz he knows most of us arent bio majors. take this teacher, you wont regret it.
hes great 3 tests worth 40 each. final is about 75-80 points and he drops your lowest test. One essay worth 50 and the second worth 100 but each day late is -5 and if you turn in both together you can get ten extra credit points =] i would highly recomend!
His lectures aren't very interesting if you're not interested in the topic, but he's a very sweet considerate teacher that really tries to make the information relevant to the students. It really helps to take him in lab at the same time of the lecture. the exams are tough so study, and study from the notes. I love Mr. Lund!
godawful GE class. Lund will talk from a minute before class starts to 5 minutes after the class is over. You'll have to take notes verbatim in order to do well on the test and the essays he assigns are time wasters.. I got a decent grade in the class, but i didnt enjoy a single minute of it. His voice can put a kid on riddilin to sleep in seconds
If you want to do well in his class all you have to do is show up and take notes. He writes it all down on the projector so you can pretty much just copy it all and your good to go. Also, he gives out study guides for every single test with pretty much anything that could be on it. Hes always helpful if you need him, and the papers are EASY!!!
Professor Lunds lab is so fun and entertaining. I looked forward to going to his class.i took it during summer and even though it was fast paced i still got an A because he knows how to teach and make you understand it. Very good teacher and always willing to help. Highly recommend to take his labs!
Papers are extremely easy and graded just as easily. However, it truly is necessary to attend class and take very good notes. Having someone copy the notes and show them to you will get you one night of really stressful last minute studying and a B or C. However, if you really want an A go to every class type notes on everything he says
He makes the class interesting and easy to understand the subject. Although I got D, but it was my own fault. I did not finish the assignment. He is a GOOD TEACHER and most importantly he understands his student and willing to help you in any way he can. I will definitely recommend his class!
He is really easy, he knows his material. He doesnt give much hw only 2 essays. His test are easy.
His teaching makes learning interesting. He is a very funny guy who really knows his material. He teaches an early class but always has the energy to motivate the class.
Very smart and funny guy who knows his material. Easy way to learn microbiology in lab. He grades easily and makes the lab very interesting and fun.
i seriously hardly went to this class and did the papers and tests. everything is based off the notes and hes a pretty easy grader. funny guy. total dork. got a B+!!!
his class is pretty easy. attendance isn't mandatory. his notes are really straightforward and the answers from the tests are directly from the notes. he makes the class really interesting and if you're looking for a fun biol 100 class, you should definetely take his class.
Lund is a very good teacher and very enthusiastic. He really knows everything about biology and he has a pretty good sense of humor. If you don't get his lectures, he's always willing to help. There are 3 midterms, one final, and two papers. NOt too bad overall though
Great guy.
Prof. Lund is a really nice guy! He was friendly, helpfull and knowledgeable. I would recommend his class to anyone. The lectures could sometimes get a little dry but Lund's enthusiasm for the topic was ever present. He made biology bearable. Straightfoward exams... 2 easy papers, and a gracious curve!
I only took this class to complete my GE. I hate bio, but lund made it really interesting. He's passionate about his subject, and actually cares about his students. if you take notes and follow the study guide, you will get at least a B. He's a difficult grader on his essays, but if you pass the tests youll pass the class.
Take his class if you have chance!!very easy if you study for his study guide b/c every thing from the study guide.highly recommend him. Also, he is really funny in sometimes. not a boring class!
NICE GUY & GREAT PROFESSOR! He has this HUGE curve on everything & they'r EASY. i hate Bio since freshmen H.S. & took it 4times. & none of the teachers made bio crystal clear like Lund. I learned alot from his 5wks summer class & got a B- by just going to class. U will only fail b/c u don't go to class or not trying at all. TOTALLY RECOMMEND HIM!!
Pretty nice class for the summer, goes by quick and reduced work. A lot of the material seems like it's too advanced for an intro class, but tests became easy to guess, and there's a great extra credit opportunity with a curve. Not a hard class to pass with a B, but needs some work for an A.
Lance was so much fun over this intense Summer lab class. I learnt a lot and have a new love of microbiology. 3 midterms (easy), worst score is dropped. 1 final (trickier than midterms). A lot of work keeping up with the lab practicals but if you keep on it then you won't have a tonne of work to do in the last week. Lance is great!
Instructor Lund is not only a great teacher but also a fascinating man. Office hours for chit chat about life AND bio highly suggested. Does not like lewd conversation. No hw, fair tests, very interesting lectures. I enjoyed his class immensely and I hate biology (or used to).
attendance is not mandatory but make sure you know what you missed because all the tests are based on lecture & notes. a few papers which was'nt hard and you had the chance for extra credit on one of them. his lectures are interesting as he clearly knows what he's talking about. this is not an easy class if you don't attend lecture
Lance is awesome I would recommend him to anyone who wants to take a tough class with a kind and forgiving teacher.
Lance Lund is a really nice guy, he helped me get in the class when i was on the waiting list. his lectures are done by him personally writing down notes on blank paper shown on projector screen. this is really helpful. he has class do 2 papers, and tests are hard if you dont study them beforehand. lots of evolution talk from him though. good class
he's a really nice guy. tests are pretty tough even though a study guide is provided. take good notes and you'll do fine. he curves a lot. ex: 73% is considered a B-
Great teacher. Hand wrote notes on projector, instantly LOVE IT. Everything he wrote in the notes is on the test, which makes it real easy. No boring reading. He knows his stuff, and he teaches great, valuable info about the body. He is a little nazi'ish on the grading though, so no room for slackers or bad test takers.
He gives way too much work for a General Education class, he acts like his class is a Genetics class or Immunology class. I can see why a lot of nonscience majors avoid him. His quizzes are too long and it's completely stupid that they are worth very little of your grade. Oh yeah you have to pass final to past class. Boo
This class is easy. He takes notes on the board, which are very helpful and gives study guides for the test. He knows what he is talking and he makes it interesting.
The most horrible professor in the world. Boring class. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR BIO 327, the AIDS class. Take the other teacher instead who is much better.
He's a good professor and the class as a whole is pretty easy. However, he can be VERY boring. As long as you can manage to stay awake, you'll do fine.
Not a very easy class. Lectures were not useful; its better to not go to class at all since he is not inspiring. He will spend to much time on one chapter and then at the end force you to read 3+ chapters in a week. Test and quizzes are too long and only a fraction of grade. Must pass final to pass class.
His lectures are extremely boring, mostly due to his monotone voice! It's very hard to stay awake during his class.
I find his class very interesting. i wasn't in to bio before this class but the info he gives in his lectures are interesting. he lectures the whole time but alot of the info he gives you can apply to the real world and health so in a way the class is beneficial.
this class isn't hard, but it is very tedious! he just goes on and on until the VERY LAST SECOND he has!!!! it gets annoying at times. he's a pretty easy grader and the tests are curved so i always managed to do well on the tests. we wrote two papers but they were easy and took 3 tests and a final.
i feel like this class was too hard for a basic bio class. 3 midterms, 2 papers, and a final. lectures are extremely boring, it's hard not to fall asleep. i would not recommend this professor.
easy class. all exams are multiple choice. if you work on the study guide, you'll get an A. he also grades on a curve on all the tests. if you go to class and take notes, you'll do fine.
He's an amazing professor, teaches the subject very well. 4 exams all multiple choice, gives out extra credit, assignments are easy. I got a C but could've gotten a better grade if I studied. So if you study, I guarantee you can get an A! Take him.
He's a very good lecturer. The class is easy if you study, attend lecture, take notes.
This class was overall pretty straight forward. 1. Take notes/go to class 2. Do the study guides (even though they are really long) 3. Do any assignments available 4. STUDY....do this and you'll do great.
He looked like a teddy bear to me and sounded like one too! But besides that, he was very comprehensible because he explained things in an easy manner. His tests are easy and 90% of the questions are straight from the study guides he gives. So I would recommend doing and completing the study guides because they helped me get an A in that class.
Do not be fooled by other people saying he is easy. If EXTREMELY detailed study guides are your thing (4-8 sub questions per question) and you can do well with that, go ahead. But if you can't handle that, take another class.
Like previous person said, don't be fooled! This class was extremely difficult. Yes, he's a good lecturer, but when it comes test time, you'll literally have to know every detail of every concept about the topic, even the ones he doesn't go over in class. Forget one fact and you'll miss the question. STAY AWAY from this teacher if you hate BIO!
Great class, great professor! A lot of info, but if you take good notes & study, you'll be good. 3 midterms (2 online), final presentation + paper, & 1 final. He's very laid-back & understanding. Highly recommended, especially if you find diseases interesting!
lectures are interesting, sit in the front b/c he uses a projector and his handwriting is small, attendance isn't mandatory but u wouldn't want to miss his class anyways its breezes by fast, he is really helpful and willing to communicate with his students, 4 MC exams, 2 short 1-2 page papers based on related topic, some slides on ilearn
Attendance is not mandatory, but catch half the classes, or at least get the notes. A couple midterms, two papers and a final make your grade. He does a good job showing you how your destroying your body, but compared to the other teachers for this class, hes actually harder, despite his demeanor.
He's really tough if you don't study right and his in-class explanations aren't that clear, but if you ask for help, he'll go above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. I thought I was going to get a C from my first two tests, then I asked for studying advice and ended up with an A! Not at all for slackers.
Amazing class. Was able to learn a lot and the labs were fun and interesting. He comes around to help you out individually if you are having trouble. Always goes above and beyond to make sure that everyone is on the same level. If you do not finish your lab during that day you are able to go to open lab with no deducted points. Great Class!
Lance is SUCH a nice teacher. He is very understanding and overall very helpful. He has about 6-7 quizzes which are easy, a lab report, and a final. It is super easy to get an A in his class. I HIGHLY recommend him. Lund > Light
Very nice guy! Enjoyed his class and learned a lot. Attend class, take notes, study well and you should be good.
Lance is a cool guy. However, I did not find this class to be super easy. Make sure you take notes because often the things in his lecture are not in the book but on his exams. Use his study guide and review old tests for the final. There are exams and two papers - no extra credit. Great class - you cover a lot of information about the body.
LECTURE hall in GENERAL is hard. well be ready to study hard! This class is difficult if your not into science. It is hard to write notes and listen to him at the same time! His study guides is very detailed and complicated. Go to office hours, tutoring, group studies and anything just try your best because I am not sure if i am going to pass.
He was a coo teacher and you should take him! The group project in lab was hella fun and easy. You don't need to read the lab book before coming to class either coz he'll lecture on it before you aktualy do tha lab. TAKE HIM!
EASY CLASS! EASY A! EASYGOING TEACHER! BETTER THAN GOVINDAN!
This is a very straightforward introduction to Biology. It is not a typical boring "lecture class". He is very helpful when it comes to clarifying especially if you go to office hours before tests. Although his study guides are a bit lengthy, it is in your best interest to do them.
He is a great professor. it was a lab and I am terrible at it. At first, I thought he might get mad with me on certain labs but he was very laid back and taught me the right ways to do it. If you need an extension on a paper or notebook check, he will give it to you but be reasonable!I was struggling in this class but always ask for help!
One of my easiest classes this semester. Follow the notes he takes and read parts of the book that pertain to the exam topics and you'll do fine. Grades on a curve based on how the rest of the class is doing. 3 exams and 1 final became an easy A for me.
Slightly boring, but always grabs your attention with interesting anecdotes
Took him for Bio 100 and Bio 326. He's super nice and gives interesting lectures. Did a lot of work this semester including two midterms (one online), three quizzes online, a ten-page research paper, group presentation, 2 online article summaries and a final exam. Got an A+ in the class. If you love bio, take him!!
Prof Lund is awesome! His study guides definitely over prepare you for the test, but if you do them you'll do well, esp. after the curve. Great class, wish I didn't take it at 8am, it was impossible to stay awake.
Professor Lund is great he really is and his classes are informative. As long as you study the material and do a good job on your papers and exams you can Ace his classes. He really cares about his students.
professor lund really knows his stuff. he answers all questions and gives you the notes you need to do the study guides. always go to class to get the notes and study for exams and youll definitely pass. his class is interesting sometimes, youll learn about health and bio and all that. overall hes a good professor
He was trying to teach the information and be interesting. He often went off on tangents that didn't really relate to what we were learning. The essays were entirely philosophical and dealt with the discussion of religion which I felt was entirely out of place. Sure, I survived but if you have another option... take it.
The class was interesting and he was a nice professor, but his lectures didn't really coincide with the book so you should try to go to class. I never went, but still passed with a B. Make sure you do his online quizes & his study guides it helps. Pretty easy if you study! I looked everything up online.
3mid-terms(40mc each),1final(70mc),2papers. Study guide for each term&exam. He is helpful. He answered all question. If you don't know the study guide, you can go to his office. He will answer it. He curves the score. Just study the study guide. He has online quiz, which does not affect the grade, but it helped a lot in actual exam. I got an A.
He curves exams which helps a lot. He rambles a lot during class. 3 exams, 2 papers and a final. Also, online quizzes for practice. Easy A.
Amazing teacher! Learned a lot and was not stressed. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend him!! He's extremely helpful and nice. Fun class!
Reasonable class, if you go to lectures you won't need the text book. If you're willing to study you can easily get an A, if not a B.
Excellent professor, very friendly and totally approachable. Lots of work but he's pretty easy going and extremely helpful. He's good at remembering names and will say hi to you around campus! One of my favorite classes by far at SFSU.
Very intelligent, informative, and clear professor - he is organized and consistent and you can get by in the class with some effort. The tests aren't easy, but he curves them which is a blessing.
Greta professor! He definitely knows his stuff! Will answer any question with a LOAD OF INFORMATION. very clear, very straight forward. What he teach will be what he have on the test. so take good notes! we don't use textbook much, only about 5% of test material is based solely on textbook, you can easily look it up in a few seconds. Good class!
His class was very fun and interesting! He has a soft voice so I recommend sitting in the front. His grade is based off three tests, a final, &two written papers but they are straight forward. His exams are mostly based off his lectures so take good notes & go to class & if you need help go to him & ask he's very nice & helpful!
Study for the tests and you should be good. DO NOT buy the textbook, a total ripoff and we barely used it.
Study and go to class and you should be fine. Copy everything he writes because he does put most of his test material into class notes. Barely used the book, but it did provide guidance to things not clear in class.
Great instructor, lot of work involved and tests are kinda difficult but he is great and will always help you if needed.
Take detailed and organized notes and you will be fine. The exams do have trick questions though. Attendance is mandatory because there is always some new materials each day.
I found myself enjoying this class a lot! It was my favorite class all semester. For his tests, basically study everything you written down in your notes. If you're taking the class with a friend, just share the lab manual... It's pointless to have your own. You only really need it to answer the questions which you turn in at some point.
Even though I hardly missed class, studied for all the tests and when taking the tests, thought I knew the information, my grades would always come back disappointing. I don't know what it is about his tests (besides the fact that his study guides are extremely confusing), but me and my friends would never get good grades. Avoid this class
Professor Lund is a great professor. Go to class everyday because note taking is crucial to doing well on your quizzes/tests. His tests are hard though, I'm not gonna lie. You have to understand the material REALLY WELL in order to get an A.
This class wasn't too bad. Managed to get a B and I didn't really study, so maybe studying would get you an A. There's a group project, which includes a presentation and a 10-page paper. 2 midterms (one in class and one online) and a final. If you're a science major, this is a great class to take. I learned a lot!
If you come to class and take notes, it's useful when you're studying. His tests are easy they are all multiple choice. It's hard not to fail his class. I barely went for a few days, and I passed with a C.
His class is kind of easy if you know your materials really well. Going to class should be mandatory because there are new materials everyday. Tests are hard and study guide could be very confusing. But he is very clear and knows what he is talking about. As long as you take good notes and copy everything he writes down you will pass easily.
This is a lecture class so be prepared to write. The notes are very easy to take and he goes over them if you don't understand. There are two papers which are very easy. The first paper you just answer questions from the article and the other was about the brain beyond easy right. The test are multiple choice so 50/50 chance. He's also funny.
Laid back guy lectures a lot!! Three exams and a final plus quizzes. Paper and presentation in group also two summaries on articles... Impossible to fail okay class
Do not take 215 in canada college its a huge amount of work.Boring monoton lecture.hard grader.
Prof. Lund is a great teacher! I took him twice, once for micro lab and another for diseases...they are not easy classes because of the content you have to learn but he makes it sooooo much easier to understand. His lectures are very interesting. He''s always there to help especially during his office hours,
Take good notes and go to class! Tests may be confusing to some, but are easy if you know the material. Had to ask for his help with a project from english class. He was so nice and helpful!
Very nice and easygoing. You don't need to read the manual prior to class and don't have to bring it to every lab. He talks a little soft so you have to listen closely. Pay attention to his notes and lecture. You'll do well on your quizzes if you study notes, lecture notes, and read your manual. The class goes by really fast! He's a good teacher.
Great teacher that really knows his stuff. Wants you to learn and take something away from his class. 3 exams, 1 final. Its a lot of info but he gives you study guides that really help! This is a class you need to attend in order to do well because he teaches everything that is on the test in his lectures. One easy paper, 2 parts, bumps up grade.
Very smart and helpful professor. Never once did he mess up in his lectures - they were always incredibly clear and detailed. He can be pretty funny at some times, too. I definitely recommend taking Lance.
Lund is an excellent teacher! Although his handwriting is a bit messy and difficult to read, he always goes over all the information very clearly and makes sure that everyone understands the material. He basically never gets mad, and he's very patient to make sure you understand the material even if you ask questions.
Lund is a good teacher just DO NOT take his AM classes if your not a morning person. Its very boring, he is kinda mono toned and it is very hard to stay awake. The study guides for his exams are outrageous and have little or nothing to do with the actual exams.
He's nice and organized, but the lectures were just so boring! He talks a little too soft, making it so easy for students to doze off in class. I'd recommend him if you need him for a GE III class, but be sure to bring a laptop in case you get bored.
Professor Lund's class was hands-down one of my favorite classes I've taken in college. I was really upset about taking biology originally because I'm more physical sciences but it was amazing. The whole time he talks about really interesting diseases and what the body does. I was intrigued the whole time. It sparked new interest in me.
Prof. Lund is awesome! SFSU needs more teachers like him. He's incredibly intelligent and is able to spread his knowledge to his students in a way that actually helps! Class is somewhat difficult, there's a midterm, online midterm and final, which are all pretty difficult but he does what he can to accommodate students with detailed study guides.
This class is very straightforward IF you go to lecture everyday. If you miss lecture, you'll miss alot of notes. He reviews what he taught from the last class in the beginning of each lecture, but it's alot more vague. If you pay attention, take notes, and study (decently) you'll have NO PROBLEM getting an A in the class. He's a great lecturer.
Really good class, I'm not good at biology and this class was really interesting, especially for first time freshman, pretty easy, tests are easy and is pretty much taken from the notes. Attendance is a must, if you miss a class make a friend and get notes. But overall i suggest it!! He's also really helpful during office hours!
Not sure why he has so many good reviews, yes he is a nice guy but WOW, never been more bored in my life. Nothing besides lecture and lecture and MORE lecture. Very mono-toned too..I was really excited for this course only to be disappointed by his teaching style and very broad material
This guy rules
Nice guy, but he TALKS TOO MUCH, and uses big biology terms that non-biol students would not understand. I learned more from student presentations than from him. Exams are ~50 multiple choice questions BUT study guides are 8+ single-space pages long with over 250 questions, so unnecessary. Exams were not easy.
Exams are easy if you go to class and take good notes. Unfortunately, Lund decided to help out his friend Murdock and require that his class of close to 700 buy her horrible paperback text. Honestly the worst text I've ever used. The information Lund tests on will not be in this book. Pretty boring, seems like he doesn't really know what he's doing
Pretty easy class. Lectures a lot. 3 exams 1 take home 1 paper 5 pgs 5 pgs of journal writes. Does give study guides for exams which is basically his rambling in lectures. You do get a lot of info from going to lecture. Don't need any of he books he requires. All exams are lecture based. Be prepared he does talk a lot but overall interesting class
If you actually want to get an A in this class, you have to put in effort. Showing up to lectures, taking good notes and answering the study guides really helped me for tests (aced all of them). For the papers he assigns, answer the questions in the same order they're prompted in the instructions. I didn't really read the book, but I took notes.
He'll check if you understand the concept and know how to use the truth tables right. He;ll answer your questions if needed and tries to find a way to clarify the chapter. No tricky stuff. One quiz each week and a paper for the finals.
Great teacher always willing to help, he has two very easy essays, and the tests are easy to do as long as you go to the lectures and pay attention. He was a very nice and caring teacher who wants you to succeed. You don't have to attend lectures and you could pass by getting a friends notes. Highly recommended.
Hands down my favorite Biology teacher of all time. Easy to talk to. Easy grader. Took both his classes and aced both. Must put in effort with taking notes in class and doing the study guide reviews. Those will help a lot since the concepts will be on the test. Get to know him! Great guy.
Caliente! Caliente! Soothing Voice
Ridiculous study guides, way too long to do in one night. Tests are based off mainly study guides. I hate bio more than ever because of this guy. He's a nice person but the work load is not worth it.
I LOVE Lund. He's probably my favorite professor at SFSU that I've had so far, hands down. He's extremely intelligent and nice, always taking questions without making you feel stupid. He curves the exams, and you get unlimited retakes on the online quizzes. There is a group project/10 pg. research paper but he makes it very painless. 100% recommend
Very helpful and approachable. All he does is lecture, unless someone interrupts for questions. You didn't need to read the text book. His lecture notes are extensive and sufficient. He gives good study guides
Lecture/note heavy! You must attend class and take notes! Very boring for those not interested in biology. It is very easy to get lost during lectures. Study guides extremely long! Each question is typically anywhere from 5-10 questions, so the study guides are even longer than they appear. Boring class, hard to learn from, friendly teacher.
Super nice, helpful, knowledgeable and interesting. Made the labs so much fun, and was a fair grader. I learned a ton, and felt like I could retain the information with the way he presented the material. He's cute, too! Crush-worthy :)
Great professor be sure to do the study guides they are basically the test he grades on a curve so it helps. Pay attention during lecture and take good notes. 3 midterms, 2 essays, and a final all the tests are m/c but becareful some questions are tricky. Overall great class I recommend taking him!
Lance is one of the best professors at State. The lab was a lot of work, but it wasn't overwhelming. The quizzes were straight forward and the project wasn't hard at all. Show up and pay attention and you should easily get an A.
I really like him, but I'm not a bio major so I found this class very challenging. Basically: if youre good at bio I'd recommend him. However, if you want to just take this for segment 3, do not take him
Boring lectures, extensive material and often went off topic. Gives study guides for each test (3 midterms and a final) all multiple choice. 2 short essays. Not an easy pass buy probably a lot better off than some other teacher. I rarely went to class and got high B's on the tests.
If you need help go see him during his office hours, he tries to be there for his students. He will answer questions you have about a study guide and will email you back. He is good at clarifying concepts and questions about the assignments. 3 exams, 1 comprehensive final. It is a large class, I suggest you join a study group and do studyguides!
I went to class everyday but didn't pay attention. Lectures were review for the first 12 hour then another 12 hour of new material they're boring but he gets the info out clearly. To ace this class either already know HS bio but know the deadlines! or Really focus on the material! Forming groups for the study guides makes life SO much easier
His voice is probably the most boring thing I've ever heard. He only has one tone and its hard to focus every time you're in class
You don't need the textbook as long as you attend class and the tests aren't hard if you pay attention. The papers were okay.
This is a class for Disease lovers. The professor talks very fast because he wants to give you all the information possible. He loves his powerpoint lectures and if you decided to miss class, well than good luck! At first this class seem easy but when the test, Midterms and Finals came, one week of studying isn't enough to pass this class.
Lectures are online. No attendance taken. 2 in class exams, 1 take home and 1 paper. Book isn't required because his 20 page study guides are dense with the answers already. Showed up to less than half the classes and still did well. Good class to get the "ES Overlay" done with. Easy A. Very lenient on late work too. Nice guy. Take it.
If you want a super simple class, this is the class for you. As long as you do the study guides, you're good. We had two papers and as long as you follow the directions, you will get a good grade. Super easy class. He takes notes in class so all you have to do is copy the down and you're good.
Overall not a bad class. Professor Lund is a easy professor. Just show up for class, do some readings every now and then, study your textbook, and have a couple of friends in that class. He has mild tests and two easy papers, but a comprehensive final. I recommend reading as much as you can, because everything will be easy and breezy.
Every class is the same. You sit down and take notes and thats it. Skipped a couple classes and still came out with an A. Whole semester there is two papers, three tests, and a final that make up for your grade. Nice guy. Easy A. Didn't use the book once so don't bother.
He is very good at explaining and his lectures are easy to understand. The textbook is not essential for this class but it does help before tests. Other than that, his class is easy with not many tests and papers.
Professor Lund is awesome! His lectures are straight to the point, but make sure to take lots of notes since the tests are note based rather than book based. The textbook is rarely used, unless for study guides. This is a pretty easy class, I enjoyed!
Extremely easy A as long as you complete the test study guides (basically exactly what he lectures) and complete the online practice tests. Test questions come straight from those. He drops your lowest test and has two essays which are pretty straightforward. I recommend reading the book too, pretty simple and helpful. Had him at 8AM and loved it!
Professor Lund is a great lab instructor. He'll try his best to make everything as clear as possible, and he is very easy-going. He honestly wants everyone to succeed, and has clear guidelines to help you earn an A. I would recommend Professor Lund to anyone and everyone, he's truly a one-of-a-kind.
Professor Lund's class is a little hard to get an A after all you need to work for your grade in order to earn it. The study guides are very lengthy and beware of his tests since there are trick questions that that tests your memorization of in depth information. However, he's a cool guy with a good sense of humor once you get to know him.
Fantastic professor. He curves tests if he notices many people struggled, he tells personal stories that relate to the material which makes it very engaging, he makes the atmosphere very open for questions and seems like he really wants his students to succeed. I've had him two semesters now for different classes. Great teacher and person!!
Prof. Lund was not very clear with many assignments. He curved some things. He makes you go see the guest speaker who is the author of the textbook that he assigned. He canceled class one minute before it started. The course material was mind-numbingly boring. Prepare to fall asleep and/or be frustrated every class. It's not worth taking at all.
Lance is absolutely adorable. He makes the material relateable and looks good doing it. Total nerd. Class consists of a couple of quizes you can repeat to get an A, as well as three larger tests, one 10 page paper (mandatory in all courses like this) along with a presentation. If you want to learn something new, take him. He's dreamy 3
Prof Lund really cares about his students and wants whats best for them. He curves his tests and uses 2 methods to calculate your grade, then goes with the one that gives you the highest. Very engaging and interesting lectures. (3) Tests were kinda hard, the 2 papers were easy though. Attendance not mandatory but you'll miss a lot of material.
This guy is passionate for biology but isn't the best about going over relevant information during lectures. Most classes are him talking about something totally non related to what will be on the test for 20-40min, then finally doing a lecture with notes. Class is curved so a 84% is an A. Sorta have to teach yourself to do well on the test
Barely showed up and passed this class with an A. When I did show up, though, I found Professor Lund's lectures were pretty interesting and he is very knowledgable. Pretty cool guy to have for an 8AM class. Two short, easy papers and three exams. You'll pass if you do the few assignments and review study guides he provides for tests.
He is a great teacher! kinda boring but an easy A, took him over the summer and had 3 midterms 1 final got to even do some of them as group test! Just study the study guide for the test and youll pass the class. Test are usually about 30-40 questions no hw! Curves the grades so much its crazy but very good especially if you dont really do well.
Had Lund for Bio100 and barely showed up, and still ended up with a B+. While I wasn't there much, when he isn't going on about something unrelated (which is not often) the lectures are very informative and cover most of what is on the test. The key to Lund's class is notes + study guide + online tests. Minimal effort is needed to get a good grade.
Lund is a nice and knowledgeable professor. His lectures were ok - some of the material was difficult for me. Tests seemed hard but he curved them. There is a 10 page research paper (more manageable than it sounds) and a group presentation. All in all, quite a bit of work for GE, but a decent class.
I skipped more than half of his lectures, and I'm still doing well in his class. When I did sit in, those lectures did nothing but help me, so I don't recommend skipping, but sitting in isn't mandatory. Lance is a really nice guy and he's lenient with the deadlines. Just keep up with the readings and the lectures and get help if you're overwhelmed.
I showed up to every class this semester and showing up definitely helped with his exams. Exams aren't difficult at all as long as you study. 2 papers. 4 exams. Great lectures, down-to-earth guy. I'd recommend him to everyone.
I love this amazing and handsome teacher, if you want to live healthy take his class, you will learn really healthy and extremely useful things in your life, he will help clear your mind from bad foods, so he is the best, super , super... I am really, really happy that I took his class. 4 exams, and 2 paper not that much hard, he is not hard grader
He spends more time talking about politics rather than the material in hand, can be condescending to anyone who doesn't have the same political opinion and treats the students like children. If you need to be in his classes I suggest making friends with people to get notes because the lectures aren't necessary.
You don't need the textbooks. Pay attention to the lectures, he covers everything you need for the exams. Easy grader, just do the work.
Great Professor, I absolutely loved going to him 8 a.m class. Highly recommend, just come to class, take notes and study for the test and it's an easy B+ to A-. Curves fairly.
Lund was good if you like the topic, but to be honest I wasn't totally interested. There was a group project, two in-class tests, and one online midterm. We also wrote an easy paper and wrote a journal. Not too tough, and lance is a cool guy.
Professor Lund is a very nice man who wants his students to learn the very best of the content. At the beginning of class, he may talk about something random that relates to class or to students. Then, he lectures, but they are not boring at all! He is a very respectful man who doesn't force students to speak if they don't answer. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
A gem. Sometimes you just find those professors that really know what they are teaching and their class truly stick with in life. Lance Lund is one of those.
Lance is the freaking man. Doesn't matter the subject, I guarantee that he'll have you interested. 3 exams and 1 paper and a powerpoint presentation but no homework. Fasho would take again.
I was enrolled in Professor Lunds 3 hour class once a week. Even though it was a long class his lectures were super informative and critical for a good grade in his class. He does not take attendance but for your own sake youd want to go. Dont bother buying the book because you dont need it, his lectures are in-depth enough. Great class!
Great professor! Lectures are great and well done. He does not take attendance so skip at your risk. As long as you take good notes you'll be fine for the tests. He also gives out study guides for each exam. Def would take him again!
He has some pretty great discussions and lectures, but you never really know what will be covered on the exams. SG's are SO LONG, but don't really do much to help you. Very disorganized. Group project is a nightmare. But grades easy so you can get an A.
Best professor. Knowledgeable and chill. If you dont attend class, the 1st exam is difficult. Study guide covers < 25% on the exam so dont rely on it. PPT are mostly pictures. Take good notes. 5pg paper, 5pg 15 entries journal, 1 group project presentation. 3 MC exams total. Exams focus on critical thinking, not memorizing. Curved the exam by 5%.
Professor Lund is a great Professor. I have to take my tests in the DPRC and he was extremely accommodating and helpful with this. His lectures are engaging which is especially important considering it was an 8 AM class. It is a perfect biology class for non-bio majors. I highly recommend.
I took his class over the summer and it was easy peasy literally was so lenient and let us do our two test in little groups! Didnt have much hw besides what was online I believe, make friends the class is easy to pass for sure, youd have to not even try to fail this class. Plus this is my 2nd time taking it Lund is awesome esp over the summer!
This is my second time taking Lance! He is such a down to earth guy. His lectures are so interesting and really encourages questions from the class. Can go on tangents but thats why I find him so exciting. He is very laid back and good sense of humor.
Very good lectures. Great professor. Would take his courses again and definitely recommend.
LOVED Lance. His class was fun, he's very informative, and will go out of his way to help you. When I withdrew from his class he was very supportive and gave me great advise which I really needed. The material itself might not be the most interesting but with Lance teaching it, it makes up for it.
Lance was very nice and welcoming. Hearing 5 weeks of bio was intimidating at first, and when he started announcing what was going to be expected kind of threw me, but Lance makes it possible! I learned a lot in this class, expected a lower grade, but I did way better than expected.
Such an amazing professor! Lectures are lengthy but very intriguing and informative. 10 page paper requirement that he divides into a 5 page research paper and 5 page journal. Do all work, study, and go to lectures and you should be fine. Great approachable guy that is passionate about his course and wants you to succeed!
Great professor, very caring and understanding. Highly recommend to go to lectures since exams are based off of them. Exam guidelines given early. 3 midterms, 1 research and 1 short essay, and 1 final (with 3 people group) taken early. Took Wednesday night class at the science building; highly recommend this class since its smaller.
Loved Lance! He is very understanding when it comes to his students. We had a quiz each month. The study guide was posted weeks before the actual quiz date. He wrote notes and we copied. 2 papers: 1 research paper and 1 opinion paper just simply asking us what we think about a specific topic. Our final was a group final of four.
this class is amazing. the lectures arent mandatory until the presentations start. 1 in class exam one online exame and a final. it was fun and the prof makes the class super interesting. would take again for sure.
Class is very easy to pass. Didn't buy the book just took notes on the lecture and that's all you really need to study for the tests. Exams are really easy and the final he let us be in a group so easy A.
He is awesome. If you are into this topic i recommend sitting closer to the front and he is very well knowledged in the subject would definitely take him again.
Great lectures and he gives study guides that tell you exactly what to expect on the test. I came into Bio100 expecting a typical boring GE undergraduate class but left actually learning a lot about nutrition and human psychology.
Our Endangered Planet. Mr. Lund is a great professor and a wonderful human being. This class is super informative and interesting. Do the reading, take good notes, review from the slides and youre set. We all hate group presentations, but his was easy and fun. I would take him again 100%. I strongly recommend this class.
He rambles a ton and his notes are all over the place the only reason I got a good grade is because he made the final a group test.
I dont know why he have so many good reviews. I took his class during fall 2018 at 8 am. I understand that he is a nice guy but the lectures are so boring ! Sometimes I was so lost in the class . He gives long ass study guides but half of the things on the study guide is not something we covered in class .Dont take him
Makes a great effort to meet/accomodate students' mental needs. Hilarious as well!
Relatively chill and easy class as long as you do the writing assignments which consist of 5 pages of journals and a 5 page research paper, and do decent on the tests. We had three test all together ( 2 In Class and 1 take home) . the final was in two parts one part was done on your own and the other was in a group.
Attendance is not madatory but since he doesnt record the lecture you miss out on a lot if you skip. Only uploads the slides to ilearn. I would definitely reccomend recording his lectures. 2 tests (one in class one online) and one final. There is a 10 page paper and group presentation as a final project but they were easy.
A pretty chill and easy class as long as you do the writing assignments which consist of 5 pages of journals and a 5 page research paper. There was a group presentation ( as long as you said something and signed in you got full credit), and an online midterm and a Final which was half scantron the other half it was taken in a group.
Lectures by Prof. Lund is pretty clear and make the most of the time. Biol 100 contains a lot of materials. Try to review after every class, test contains many things. Study with a partner for quiz before test. You will do much better if you did quiz well and review everything on study guide.
This professor treats his students well, helping them whenever they need it in class since the class can get difficult at times. The class is very heavy on participation and attendance is mandatory if you want to really understand the material. Other than that, the class is pretty fun.
I recommend you guys to take Professor Lund. He's a really good teacher. His classes are super easy! Easy A! So, all his tests are based off of the notes you take in class and the online quiz (not mandatory to take). As long you study off of that you're pretty much good. The study guide helps as well! btw only 2 papers are hw:-)
Prof. lance is super funny. We began class with lecture everyday then followed by the lab. We had to keep up with a lab notebook, had about 6 quizzes, 1 group project, 1 group quiz, 1 final exam and a 8-10 lab report. Overall, he's a great professor.
Lance Lund is a textbook lecturer, but, he least has good intonation and can be funny to make it more interesting. He is also extremely respectful when speaking to you and addressing certain controversial subjects in his class. Taking notes is really important if you want to pass the tests and the textbook is really not necessary.
Lance is THE BEST. Super clear on instructions, very straight forward tests and quizzes, drops the lowest quiz score. If you study the material, you'll do well. He's also super friendly and knowledgeable. I've taken two classes of his already (BIOL211 over summer and BIO330 reg) and I'm super excited to take more. Lance if you see this YOU ROCK
Great professor! He does his best in order to help students pass and understand material. He does a great job at communicating via email or in person and will make time to help. I decided to take his BIOL 330 because of how great of a professor he is.
Professor Lund is one of the kindest professors I have met at SFSU. He genuinely cares about his students and the topic he is teaching. Human sexuality could be an uncomfortable topic, but he manages to remain humorous and respectful. I do not have enough kind words to say about this professor. You will need to attend/watch lectures to do well.
Lance Lund was a great professor. One of the few professors who supported us during this pandemic.
I didnt like the extra credit he assigned us during COVID. Other than that his class is easy but you must listen his lectures and the test was pretty hard esp 1st exam. All together 3 exam , 1 research paper and 1 journal and ESA. He is very motivational and gives us extra knowledge about current issues happening in the world esp related to Bio
Great professor overall and responded well while switching online! Lance truly cares for his students and does want you to pass. Though as long as you do the labs and turn everything in on time you will be fine. Exams and quizzes are mainly based on the lecture/lab/reading lab manual, and theres also a lengthy lab report due at the end of the sem.
Dude's a legend at SFSU. Very clear about what will be tested with a few curveballs here and there but only test on what is covered.
Lectures can be really boring. but he does care a lot about his students especially during distance learning. He is very interactive and nice. Not really a lot of exams, semester projects that are easy to get done and he does offer extra credit for doing volunteer work so that's cool.
great professor, he really cares about his students and is super patient. quizzes and tests were pretty easy if you paid attention in class.
I had his 3 hour lecture. Professor lund is super nice and understanding but his lecture are boring . He does record lecture but your better off just going to class . He loves participation. If you like human biology i recommend him. It can be very interesting what Lance covers. Not a lot of work . Test are easy if you pay attention nd take notes !
Mr. Lund is very good as a person but he gave us tests that are very hard and tricky. Three midterm tests are time-restricted and you need to read very fast that to understand these questions and choose the right answer. Lectures are very informative and you need to take notes because some ideas will be using in the pop-tests and midterm tests.
professor lund was a patient, caring and great professor for bio 211 lab at sfsu. he is really understanding about anything you need, especially during covid learning. the class mostly consists of a clear lecture, a simple lab assignment or group discussion in the breakout rooms and end of the week quizzes. this class is pretty cool. 10/10.
Great professor! Lectures were super interesting, however the tests and quizzes were quite hard. There is no homework so you have to take plenty of notes during class in order to do well on the tests. One 10 page essay at the end of the semester.
Ridiculous course load, most reviews are for his easier classes. Don't get me wrong he's a fine teacher, but expect 3 exams on top of a final, with regular quizzes that fall within 50 questions each. Only take if you don't have other things to do for the rest f your classes.
One of the worst classes I've ever taken in terms of the amount of work you need to do. SO MANY PAPERS, WEEKLY HOMEWORK QUIZZES THAT HAVE ALMOST 50 QUESTIONS EACH, THREE MIDTERMS + FINAL (I really hated the fact that the deadline of the final exam was right after the 3rd midterm's deadline). DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU'RE BUSY WITH OTHER CLASSES.
If you're looking to take an easy UD-B / Area E course, I would recommend taking Lance for BIO 318. Attendance is not mandatory so you can still manage to pass the class without attending lectures every day. Lectures, quizzes (3), and exams (3) are always uploaded on iLearn. 5 page research paper and 5 page journal due at the end of the semester.
Pr. Lund loves his class. He's great at what he does, and his students love him. I'm not a huge biology person, so I wasn't as interested and active in his class. I only received a B- because I wasn't studying or paying attention, so put in some effort, and you'll do fine. I do wish there were more activities, but that's the hands-on learner in me.
Professor Lund is very chill with his students. He thoroughly explains the topic and makes. His quiz is based on student presentations so you have to really pay attention. The hardest thing about the quizzes is the "select all that applies" questions so make sure you do some studying. For his quizzes, you are allowed 3 attempts and his exams, 2.
He is a nice guy and makes the class comfortable when talking about sexuality. However, for an upper division GE class, this was way too much work. I was doing more work for this class than any other of my STEM major classes. Content was interesting, but you learn more about physiology more than sexuality. Also some of the quizzes were very long.
I took him for the 2nd class and again it was magnificent. Although his lectures are kind of heavy but if you are listening to him carefully and making notes, you will pass with a good grade. His quizzes and exams are crazy hard but again, he is giving all answers during his lectures. He is very easy accessible within emails and you can ask any ??s
this man is a gem! I had 3 papers and a weekly quiz once a week. 3 exams just study and you'll pass. he's not a hard grader at all for papers as long as you put in effort you'll get an good grade
ADVICE for QUIZZES & LECTURES (do this before taking them) - Read the outlines underneath the lectures - The slides don't help much unless you listened to the lectures - lectures are boring, monotone - Some questions you can KINDA google but not on quizlet mainly because most Q's are scientific facts and he shares which articles - discord
ADVICE: Extra credit is a lot of work for 5 pts, you have to do volunteer work for 4 hours & show evidence. Quizzes you can attempt 3 times, Exams 2 times, check the left to see what you got wrong at the end, questions do repeat which is helpful. Watch lectures, read slides & outlines underneath the lectures
Professor Lund is very knowledgeable and passionate about this class. His exams can be quite difficult, but as long as you pay attention to lecture, take notes, and go over the slides, then it's not that hard. It's open book too. No trick questions since all the answers are on the slides/lectures/readings.
Class covers various materials in a PowerPoint slides, and there's various homework quizzes & test that require careful reading. The paper & presentation is relatively easy but takes a lot of time. Finals week for this class is tough b/c 2 test, but the synchronous experience is better. Multiple attempts on quizzes! Easier with student help though.
Prof Lund is an awesome human being. Very thoughtful with his interactions with students and amazing lectures. 5 page report is your final and can be started on the first day of the course. The work is manageable and offers extra credit.
sure, he's nice. but the course load is ridiculous. a second midterm along with 2 other quizzes was assigned 2 weeks before the final. its almost like he forgot to assign them throughout the semester so he did it all now...open book quizzes but they're still difficult
This class had an extremely heavy course load. Weekly quizzes with sometimes 50 questions, back-to-back exams and papers, as well as reading quizzes. This class pretty much had every assignment you can think of. That said, Professor Lund is a great professor. Super charismatic and helpful. If you can muscle through the work, you can pass the class.
Professor Lund is very friendly and caring. However, he was overly-ambitious with the course load. There were 10+ 10-30 question quizzes, 4 exams, and 2 lengthy papers. I felt very rushed to learn the course content especially within these last couple of weeks, which made completing his assignments (and doing well) very challenging.
His lectures are boring and monotone, difficult to pay attention. He provide powerpoint slides. This class isn't mandatory, I wish I could have used his powerpoint more to help guide me, but they were no help. He didn't go over answers to the quizzes/exams. Once you take the quiz, that's it. Expected to review the quizzes for the final.
I had a hard time listening to what felt like monotonous lectures for the entire period of the class. It made it difficult for me to pay attention, and his powerpoints were not exactly easy to follow since he jumped from slide to slide. This is just how he taught the class, doesn't make him a bad professor, just not one I would take again.
The biggest problem is that the class lacks proper structure. There's the main theme, for sure, but there's also a lot of jumping around the topics. The slides are scattered and do not help at all in studying. Though I appreciate the class does not require buying expensive books, it would benefit a lot from using some open source textbook.
weekly lecture + reading quizzes. i was never able to attend the synchronous meeting time for lecture and instead read the slides when i had time--i changed my grading to c/nc because i knew this class was going to drag my GPA down. it was for my UD GE. this class has a bio prefix so it ISN'T about more psychological insights into gender/sexuality.
homework questions ungraded used for tests as well as lecture and discussions. final paper on a disease with presentation.
Felt excluded because of my lack of knowledge on the topic and being a CAD major and I couldn't rlly participate in the zoom discussions, so I stopped going after the first few weeks. If the lectures were more organized n more open to other majors, I would have enjoyed the class much more. But if you're interested in Earth science, take this class!
Super easy and relaxed teacher. Easy class.
While Lance is a laid-back professor, he is awful at giving timely feedback, uploading exams when he says he will, and responding to emails. We had 3 papers and none were graded by finals week. He didn't upload our final until 2 days before grad. He never replied to my emails. The only good thing was exams/quizzes were easy if you read the slides.
No weekly homework, just that you have to do a research paper and journal for the semester! Exams are pretty hard, but if you listen in class you will be good!
you are graded by FEW ITEMS THAT IT WILL BE HARD TO PASS THE CLASS IF YOU DONT DO WELL ON HIS EXAMS!!! he has no extra credit and no other homework besides an essay and a presentation. the way he asks questions is like he wants you to get it wrong. he is a tough grader and the fact that there are not a lot of assignments has made it so hard to pass
One of my favorite professors, very easy to talk to and he cares about his students. No homework, only short readings. Lab activities are fun and he is always happy to help when a student is confused. There are quizzes but it's very easy if you study the material shown in class.
Professor Lund was awesome, by far my favorite professor. He is super nice and flexible. You'll pass the class as long as you follow along in class and do the coursework. There was basically no homework if you keep up in class. Quizzes are hard, they're not multiple choice. I failed almost every quiz and maintained an A-B grade the entire time.
Lance was an amazing lab professor. Very kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I did extremely well and would definitely take it again. Lance is open to questions and thoughts, he will definitely help you succeed! Make sure you show up every lab so that you can complete the assigned lab reports for the class. Only 4 quizzes the whole semester :)
I'd recommend getting to know your table mates and forming a study group. The content itself is a little difficult to understand objectively but the quizzes are pretty easy, as well as the final "exam" which is during a regular class. Takes long time to grade things on canvas.
Professor Lund was okay. The thing that bothered me about BIO 100 was the amount of tests with little to no actual interactive homework. Also, attendance wasn't mandatory and I think that influenced a lot of people to never show up. There was way too much to cover with too much information at once, quite awful. But, he was a nice guy!
This whole class is based around lectures, so make sure you take notes! Includes 3 assessments, 2 hw quizzes, a journal, a research paper, and that's the semester. I struggled with the exams but the journal and paper bumped me up to a B so I won't complain! Funny and engaging, but I would highly recommend coming to class for those tricky tests :)
Really great class, super helpful, gives options for extra credit and a really nice prof. Def would recommend taking this class if you need an upper division science credit.
The prof is nice, but the workload is intense. Tons of quizzes, exams, and papers - it really makes it hard to keep up. Luckily, unstuckstudy ai was a lifesaver for test prep! Overall, the class is pretty challenging, but doable if you stay on top of it.
Boring lectures, slide overload, trick questions in quizzes, extra credit that requires attending events outside of class which is difficult to impossible for students who have a full-course load and work and possibly have families.
I loved the class; he makes the class enjoyable and makes the 75 minutes feels like 75 seconds
My favorite biology teacher ever! I have had him multiple times, and I highly recommend him. He is a chill guy and very understanding and clear with his guidelines.
He's one of the best professor's in SFSU. If you have the chance take him. Only a few paper's through the whole semester and they are easy. I would take him again if I could.
Best teacher I've had so far
Clearly defined expectations Fabulous lectures I wish he taught all my classes
Very chill and wise professor! Most of his lectures are answering questions from students and saying a lot of terms from the textbook. Highly recommend taking notes as the quizzes and exams contain info from lectures. Showing up to class!! he dosen't regularly take attendance but will make up on the spot assignments that will count for attendance.
Super knowledgeable, lectures are disorganized, but ask questions, take notes, and ask for resources. He is super easy to talk to, cares about his students and is a good conversationalist. One research paper, a journal, and biweekly tests. Plenty of EC opportunities. Be engaged and be interested, and you'll get a good grade.
Took the class in the summer, very fast pace. Graded a lot on quizzes on tests. Homework is just mini lab reports, didn't necessarily take attendance, but you don't want to miss a lab. Felt like I learned a lot in this class. However, the professor could've been a bit more helpful when it came to the practical things like lab.
I LOVED having Professor Lund. He's wise, respectable, and always has the most easy going classes. He always teaches interesting content and knows how to engage the class. His assignments are simple and always intriguing. I've taken both his biology lecture and lab class and I HIGHLY recommend you take one of his courses to experience his teaching.
