Ok guys. LISTEN UP. This is what you do... READ THE CHAPTER BEFORE CLASS. Don't expect this guy to EXPLAIN everything in detail because there's too much material. After each class go over the FULL chapter and do the questions at the end.
doesnt know how to teach and explain things clearly i would not reccomend him for this course but he has a nice rack for a guy

really nice guy, and genuinely seems to try his best to teach the material. it's a difficult course! he's not going to hand you an A, but it's definitely acheivable if you try.

He is a really nice guy he cares about his students!! He is boring but Econ in general is boring hard to make it fun! I did fall asleep a couple of times tests and assignments are hard! Learn lots in his class.
he is the worst teacher that i have ever had. Assumes that you know all the information comming into the class and when you ask a question he replies with "you guys should be paying me to answer these questions" - makes you feel stupid

People say he is hard but I think he is just trying to raise the bar for kwantlen students. MAKE SURE U READ B4 CLASS!!!
Went to one class and tht ended right there.
Lectures can be more productive, there's much more to Econ then what he covers, generally very helpful, but you must be willing to contribute, he is not going to hand you an A.

his course is outdated, if your a number cruncher then take him, if you wanna learn about real life econ applications (not just math), then don't take him! very confusing, teaches irrelivant stuff (jugger-mash I call it) for lack of a better term
What everyone has written is true...he knows A LOT about ECON, but God knows he couldn't explain it! Unhelpful, and ridicules the class for asking questions! I was SHOCKED that I managed to pass at all! Totally wouldn't recommend it!
Not for students who are just looking for an easy A. To do well in his class all you need to do is read the text, ask questions, and see him in his office hours for extra help. If this sonds like too much....don't take him.
Macro is a tough course, but Lance makes it bearable. Listen and participate in class and do the homework and review and the exams are excactly what you saw thru the semester. Nice guy, will help if you ask for it.
he was very confusing and went too fast about the kenasian cross... also he's the kind of professer who does not involve the class with what he is teaching.... he pretty much lectured all class and was not very inclined to answer questions
Basically average - not a great teacher but not bad either. He definately knows a lot and is willing to help you if you ask. But take note: if you want an A you will have to work for it. Definately get the study guide and do all the questions in it! It's the only way to prepare for his exams.

75% of the class was forced to drop out because of majority failing on midterms. We are going to the dean!!!
He is a very knowledgable person. He knows his stuff ups ide down, but he is a very very bad teacher. i would not recomend it unless he is the last available option.

Worst teacher yet, do not trust his notes because i doubt you will understand them, not willing to help you, because when asked he replied "don't you have a brain?" Recieved A's and B's for first couple of chapters but thats off my own notes and studying! After that only god can help you! Majority of the class dropped out, recommend not taking him.
this guy knows his stuff, but doesn't explain very well. His notes are really unclear and tests are killer. There's only like 8-9 people left in my class. If you can take this class with another proff or study your ass off if you want a decent mark in this class!

He is extreemly boring. and uses way to many words to describe something simple. I usually grasp easy concepts... but somehow he makes things so boring and so complicated and so aughhhh. it makes me tired, and bored. His tests are pretty lame as well. not really like the class, or the labs. All in all, a nice person, but super lame class.
The most boring prof ever. he talks for the entire 3 hours yet doesn't explain much about the material in book. will confuse u more than teach u.
avoid, take it with someone else, this guy just doesnt teach the material properly, and makes fun of you assuing that you are coming to his class because you already know this stuff off by heart?

This guy is terrible! He's called the GPA dropper. If you think you can take his class and just think you can teach yourself, NOT GONNA HAPPEN!, He rambles, doesnt tell you what you need to know, isnt even funny, and puts stuff on tests you dont even talk about..If you value your GPA, DONT TAKE THIS GUY EVER!!

he KILLED my interest in economics. totally sucks at teaching. boring, classes are always couple chapters behind, notes are sloppy and useless, people fall asleep in class no point in coming really. exams are NOTHING like the assignments (the lyryx site). he makes the course become rocket science - DO - NOT - TAKE! im surprised he hasn't been fired
Boring classes, does not know how to teach...
Took him for 3 hour class and couldnt stay awake. Stands in front of class and talks for the entire time. You count down the time till break and till end of class thats it. can not concentrate. and when you study the stuff he talked about and your notes you see that theres stuff in there that he didnt even say were going to be on the test. Avoid
Well, probrobly he is nice. but it is hard to take note because of his writing is so bad. and the class is boring and hard to understand...
When people write on this prof and tell you that he's horrible, PLEASE believe us.I thought I could do it and just work hard at it. Im usually a B student and he gave me a c- and the whole class was the same way. Half the class dropped out and I had a study buddy and she was having huge troubles as well and she's a genius. Please AVOID AT ALL COST
BAD TEACHER. his only concern is that 1 person gets an 'A' b/c then he has done his job according to the Dean. i went 2 his office 2 ask a question about homework & he literally said "i'm not helping you". He would ask a question & the whole class wouldn't know the answer which i think says something about his teaching. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

i went to every single of his lectures and realized he emphasis in class lectures is totally different from what he puts on exam.he is so unclear and difficult that it definately becomes as to whether u ll pass or not. please dont waste ur money by taking him.u have no idea.
Very boring lectures. His tests include things that weren't discussed but in the book. He doesn't explain lessons well. He keep saying that you should read the book to find more about the topic. Half of our class dropped out. Listen to what everyone here is saying. AVOID THIS GUY. HE'S A BIG NO NO.
i worked so hard in this class and put in atleast 50 hours of work before the exam. his exams are comparaable to designation exams and his teaching style dont match up at all. need i say more
DO NOT TAKE, if you are a person that does not grasp concepts easily, you will be lost the first day. In an average class he gives out about 1 A and the rest are all below C-. If you value your GPA DO NOT TAKE.
I didn't find him very helpful and his way of teaching didn't help much either. I definitely lack interest in the subject through out the course- prior to signing up for the class I was looking forward to learning great things but walked out of feeling unsatisfied.

Lance was the worst teacher i have ever experienced in my post-secondary career. It seems like he boasts about his own knowledge, however, it also seems like he rubs it in your face when your wrong. He is a useless professor and isn't even a nice guy. I am good at econ and he ruined the course for me and it dropped my GPA do not take his class
This teacher is very passionate about economics, that i feel sometimes he forgets that intro to micro is a basic level and should be taught in basic terms.. very fair on his test, hard markers, but if you do your studying u can end up with a good mark.. unclear in explaining and doesnt give out great notes or powerpoint slides to study from.
After reading every comment that has been posted about this prof, i still am not convinced someone would have a enjoyable and benifical semester with him teaching them, by far the worst teacher of my post sec. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY, he will belittle you and you will have no desire to attend class...ever.

His problem is that he reads from the slides, he brought nothing that i couldn't have gotten from the text book. At least the exams are easy.
He taught me nothing. He makes the class feel stupid when they get involved with his lectures. His teaching method did not help me, and by the third week there was 1/3 of the class left in the room. Definatly a GPA dropper. Avoid this teacher if possible.
Monotone and extremely boring...I can handle that. Makes you feel studip and belittles when you ask questions...makes it very uncomfortable when you need clarity. I read before class and took this class as my elective because I loved macro and micro so much. I have over a 4.0 GPA so I am not lazy and I can attest this is the worst prof at KPU ever!

Macro Econ very conceptual which can be hard but if you show up to class (and pay attention) do the homework; and actually study you'll do alright. Lectures are a one way affair with little interaction and when he talks he makes a whistling noise. Exams are mostly multi-choice with some short and long answer.
Online practice quizzes/exams are easy and simple but his in-class exams are difficult. His voice is monotone and very low. If you enjoy being tormented and challenged to the point of insanity, you should definitely take his class!

I never rate profs but I feel this was needed for econ students.. he is by far the least helpful teacher and his classes are dull, boring and pointless. unless you are able to teach yourself everything you need to know there is no point having him as a teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM

Class is a complete waste, his explanations are long and confusing and absolutely unhelpful. You have to teach yourself everything! Provided NO sample exams, no notes,and then gave a condescending lecture to the class for doing badly on the first midterm. The online homework is no help - it's much easier than the exams! Would never take him again.
Classes are extremely boring and attendance is not mandatory at all. He lectures EXACTLY what is on the PowerPoint slides and nothing new you cannot get out of the book. Midterms/Final are multiple choice but can be quite tricky. Lance was a good guy but not a good prof.

Lance is not as bad as the other comments. He will not guide u through the whole text, but if u acutally read, its quite simple concepts. MT was easy but too long. He is a very unapproachable instructer, he seems like he is annoyed if u goto office hour. Maybe he just has a stern personality, but it feels uncomfortable etting help. Fair Prof overal

I tried asking him questions during class for clarification and he responded by saying "you should take up arts and drop finance so that the only numbers you have to deal with are page numbers" he does not help. He is mean. I think hes bored of teaching. Waste of money and time. KPU shouldnt hire people like him.
Yup. All of these comments are true. TERRIBLE professor... I swear he's trying to suck at teaching. Can't explain anything in a simple or logical way. He's all over the place and has the messiest writing, just scribbles random parts of what he's talking about all over the board and doesn't engage the class. Impossible to learn from him.
Well first of all ,I attended all his class throughout the semester and I never saw him smile/laugh at all. He was pretty boring but he knows his stuff. His notes were a little bit all over the place as well. He can be mean to students when they answer his question or when they ask a question. He's "ehhh"
Lance is a very confusing teacher. I have two degrees and about 30 A marks. No one in class can answer his questions. The book seems clear but I just think all the online quizzes and his in class confusing is adding layers of confusion. If lance would simplify it would be much easier than writing tons of graphs my first test was 60%

He will not help you, & expects you to know how to do things before you come to class. WRITING if you think you can read bad writing give this guy a try, He needs to retake elementary writing.
Horrendous prof, my class started with out full (about 30 - 35) & ended with only 8 students. Only provides written notes, no power point, & even those are few & far between & are incredibly confusing. Seemingly encourages questions, but then makes you feel stupid for asking them. Avoid like the plague.
teaches with the expectation that everyone wants to just barely pass and get out of there. Expects you to learn most of it yourself while admitting that the textbook is difficult to learn from.. The exams are completely random with vague essay questions when it should be short answer. Also the assignments are nothings like the exams/final.
You can hear his sounds barely, and you can recognize what he wrote on whiteboard barely. His concepts make no sense. The first test average 40%
Lance was easily one of the worst profs I've ever had. Our class started off with 35 students and by the end of the semester there was only 10 left. He lectures the entire time and uses examples that are irrelevant and useless. The only reason I did okay in this course was because I got a tutor and taught myself most of the course. Avoid his class.

If you ask questions in class he'll get upset and say see him in his office hours, when i went to see him in his office hours he gave me no tips and told me to drop the course. Showing up to class is useless as he shows nothing useful. Lance is aware of his very low average but does nothing about it. Unmotivated prof, avoid at all costs.
Powerpoint slides aren't good enough. Reading the book isn't good enough. Self-studying doesn't help. Class lectures doesn't help to prep for exams. Nothing you can do in this class will help you prepare for the exams. The exams are basically curve balls. Just don't take this prof. Avoid!! Avoid!! Avoid!!
He lectures on and on about slightly related topics but mostly irrelevant, it doesn't help anyone understand what they're supposed to learn. He does not care about teaching or helping you. Stay away.
