Pretty cool teacher. His lectures are easy to follow & he provides notes. It's time consuming, but as long as you do the work you should be fine. Interesting class, learn a lot. I would recommend him.
he is a cool guy and he puts the notes on a projector to copy, very easy. his tests are not that hard and all in all id say it was a good class but he can get really boring.
A "Recovering Laywer"--- This guy is really helpful, wants you to learn and makes the class interesting at 7 at night! He's a good guy and I'd recomend any of his classes (even if he did go to Berkeley) :-)
You can get all the notes off his website. Nows a lot about the subject. Take him if you want an A.
This class was very intresting. But his test are extremly hard hard, if you dont study really really hard. Go to clss be papared. Good luck!!!
Cool guy, funny examples and easy A
Loved this instructor! Has a very dry wit and very informative. Very fair and personable.
He is a very nice guy and a great instructor. You will learn a lot of in his class. There are a lot of material to study in this class but if you study hard you can pass the class easy. I am highly recommend anyone to take this class with Lance. A SWEET GUY AND A WONDERFUL INSTRUCTOR.
Really cool teacher. Not an easy A at all. You do have to work! Go to class every time and you'll have no problem. Tests are hard but once you understand his style, you'll do fine. Young teacher but needs to burn his sweater collection. Otherwise hes a A+ hotty.
If you attend his class you should do fine. Very helpful. Tests can be hard so do study for them.Regular attendance is important. Give you a good grade if you do well on tests and show interest in the class.
Very helpful teacher. Appreciates students who engage him in conversation during class on the subject being discussed. Grades on a curve against your peers, if you do your work this is an easy A.
very nice guy. great teacher. keeps class interesting. reading quizes are easy if you at least scan the chapter. midterms arent too hard, some random questions throw you off, but no big deal. cool guy.
Business Law was very interesting and I did learn a lot. I took this course as a senior in high school second semester which I believe is the cause of my less than enthusiastic attitude about not going home until 4:20pm because of this class (since I would normally leave at 1:35pm).
he is not a very good teacher. his examples are stupid. his test are very hard. he tries to make them confusing. i would highly recommend Dr. Schock. His test are straight forward, nothing tricky
Mr. Shoemaker is one the best teachers I have ever had. Although his tests and homework are challenging, he made class fun. (seriously how many college classes are fun?) He even took time out of class during the semester so that we could rate him (have you ever met a teacher who does that???) He is a GREAT teacher who cares. A LOT.
Mr. Shoemaker is by far the best teacher I have ever had. His tests can be tough, but if you put time into attending class and keeping up with the reading he will help you succeed. I cannot tell you how many people I have told about this teacher. In fact, I was a little bummed when the semester was over. That NEVER happens! Must take this class!
I loved Mr. Shoemakers class! Yes it is hard, and there is a lot of info to remember and learn but he made it fun. The 3 hour lectures were very manageable and interesting even though he spent the WHOLE time talking. The tests are somewhat difficult but he only grades you against each other. questions are tricky but that's only to get you thinking!
He's one of the best teachers I ever had. I think it's pretty easy to get an A in this class if you always read the chapters and listen to him. It is definitely a fun class and he has a lot of funny personal stories. If you need help you can call or email him and he is responding immediately!
He was very mean and I never take his class again.
He makes his class very hard and when I would ask him questions he would be very mean. I will never take his class again.
He has favorite students and he will only pass his favorite students.I will never take his class again.
do not take this course if you looking for an eassy A teacher,he is the hardest instructor i ever had . his exam is very hard and his not good in grading
a truly awesome teacher and a really nice guy! his class was very interesting and he made it fun. he is also offering a lot of help. his tests may be a little more difficult, but he is grading on a curve, so you end up having good grades anyways. my advice: take him!!!
Cannot stress enough how interesting this class was! Business law is not my forte, Lance made it funny and entertaining! Just make sure you attend the class or you might get pistol whipped! jiggy?
Lance is a great professor. He made this hard class very fun. I wish he teaches more of the classes I need to take.
Sarcastic and blunt comments make his class at least amusing. He grades on an extremely fair curve and if you just show up for the lectures (boring as lectures might be) you'll have all the information from tests laid right in front of you. Offers study guides too. Great teacher, wish he taught more business classes
Highly recommend him, he made the class fun and interesting, I actually looked forward to going to class every day. I wish all of the teachers at West Valley were like him. The content of the class can be hard, but he grades very fairly and as long as you study and pay attention, you will do fine,
Lance is a really good teacher! he makes the class really interesting by giving real life example. hes very fair and truly cares about his students! i got an A in his class and all i did was pay attention to his lectures! hes a very good teacher and i would recommemd him to everyone!
He's genius! EXCEPT his policy in attendance. QUOTE: If you are late to class, leave early during class, or get up and leave and then come back into class that will be counted as missing ¼ class each time you do it. This policy applies whether you are sick, have a personal emergency, etc. There are no exceptions to this policy.--UNQUOTE.
Yeah!haha, you better go to the restroom before class and DON'T drink during your class otherwise, he will deduct your point!!! it's true!
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He has been teaching the class for a long time and is very clear and organized. He makes the topic very interesting. The class is challenging - he isn't an easy grader, but is very manageable! As well I love that he has outlines for all chapters we go over so the textbook isn't absolutely necessary.
He's a good teacher, a hard grader. I like his teaching method, but he is so strict on class policy!
If Matthew Broderick and Robert Downey, Jr. had a love child, he would be it. Also, very interesting and clear in lecture.
Shoemaker is one of the best teachers I've had. He doesn't try to get kids to like him, but he isn't stiff or serious at all. He is fun, but strict, and teaches the subject very well. Getting a good grade is entirely dependent on your own study skill. I love this class.
Lance is a gifted instructor. He combines tough with caring in regard to his students. You get what you earn. He is informative and fun at the same time, a true rarity.
Easily one of the best professors I have ever had. So much that this class has convinced me to pursue a career in law. Yes the class is time consuming, but if you put in effort, attend the lectures, get the study guide, and basically pay attention and figure out what he wants, you're golden.
Lance hands down has the best teaching style that I have ever seen. His ability to keep you entertained yet informative at the same time is something else. He offers extra credit so take advantage of this. If you want an A do what he says, you'll understand.
This is a bit overdue, but Shoemaker has been my favorite professor at WV. Never had an instructor who has been able to get the class so involved. You will find yourself wanting to go to class and enjoying it. Lets get Lance his Chili pepper back!
shoemaker is the best teacher for bus. i took him for bus law and intro. Hes super nice and wants you to understand and pass. He gives alot of extra credit. If you review study guides and notes before tests, you'll be alright. If you put in effort, it'll show. #GetLanceThePepper
One of the best professors you'll ever take. He's well well-versed, and keeps it interesting. Don't even bother with the book, but definitely get the study guide. He gives you notes and the study guide multiple choice questions help you with the exams. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Wish I could take him again. Try, and you'll get an A.
Love him! Explains concepts really clearly and is willing to help however he can. At least one quiz each week based on textbook reading. Midterms are a little tricky but not impossible. He curves really well and offers a great amount of extra credit. Best teacher I've had
For an intro class,it was a lot harder then I expected.1-2 quizzes a week, 2 midterms, research paper/presentation, and a cumulative final. Lance's tests are thinking tests that are based off his knowledge and perceptions. His lectures tend to be boring and he ends up talking about stories of his friends which doesn't help when it comes to the tests
I came into this class with no knowledge or comprehension of law, as other users commented: it was a lot harder than i expected. However, if you need the help Lance does make himself available, he responds to emails and helps as much as you put in. It wasn't "hard" per say just challenging, but if you put in the work you'll pass
The best decision I made in. School is taking class with mr . Shoemaker I highly respect him and love his classes.. I do recommend anyone wants to take business classes to take them with him ..
Great professor, very nice and pretty funny. The lectures are interesting and worth showing up to. You need the book, you'll have a quiz a week based on the reading. His tests are challenging, but study and you'll be fine. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit and he grades on a curve. The group project is really easy.
Lance is an awesome person, I enjoyed his class. But his teaching style wasn't my favorite. He lectures and goes off his Powerpoint, which is posted online. His class is hard, the homework is long but interesting. But Lance is really understanding, he cares about his students. I would recommend this class.
He is tough but fair. You need to try to succeed DO NOT SLACK OFF! You also have to participate, if you need help ask for it
Typically a really tough class, but if you show up, participate, and at least attempt to try you will definitely pass! Teacher grades tough but gives you so many opportunities to pass that if you don't, it is totally your bad. He makes the class super fun and easy to follow so if you're not sure about the class at all, take it with this teacher.
Best Business teacher ever, he has funny stories and is growing an awesome beard. He uses real life examples in law and makes the class very interesting
I took this class last semester and if it weren't for Lance and how he made learning all the boring tidbits fun and interesting, I probably would have bombed. His teaching style makes it easy to follow along so as long as you show up and participate, and get the Study Guide. Must have! It helps so much. He even offers some extra credit sometimes.
Shoemaker is awesome! Works in the field of Law when he's not teaching. Has plenty of real life stories to use as examples. Tests can be difficult but as long she you attend class they are doable. Make sure you participate because it gives you a nice boost at the end. He curves the tests as well which helps a ton!
He knows his stuff but lectures are long and we didn't get through the entire book. He allows people to ask the same questions over and over because he's bored and they aren't prepared. Read the book, study the questions and vocabulary at the end of the chapters and you'll be fine. He changed the exam dates a couple of times. Annoying!
This class was probably one of the toughest yet most enjoyable classes I have taken at west valley. Out of all the classes here this will probably be the most useful in your future. This class is tough, you can't slack because you will miss something, do all the homework and as much extra credit as possible. Tests are tricky but are fair.
Best. Instructor. EVER. I'm just glad I had the opportunity to have him as my instructor for Intro to Business. But beware, if you have trouble managing your time or simply don't feel like doing work/reading the book and notes, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. you can easily pass this class if you actually study, if not, he will not give you free A's.
"You took this class, You better show up!" I took him for Real Estate. The tests were pretty hard. A lot of info you need to remember. The entire class was lectures. He has good stories that make the class a little more interesting. Just make sure you read the book and take lots of notes.
Tough class! Make sure to come to class every day b/c he lectures everyday and you dont want to miss it, also class participation counts. Take good notes, he gives a study guide so make sure to do that itll be on the test and also study the green MC study guide.
This guy is my homie. Business, bus. law, accounting no matter what class this guy teaches, it's incredibly hard, but in a GOOD way. Not like most professors who make the class stupidly hard just for the sake of it(like history professors at this school). Very helpful, and a great lecturer, put in the work and you'll get a B or better.
First of all, I think he looks like Robert Downey Jr. Second of all, one of the best classes I have ever taken at West Valley. He can be very generous and understanding when it comes to grading. You just have to be present and participate in class. also, GET THE WORKBOOK. The Textbook and workbook are at Books for Food, so the text is FREE.
excellent class had to work hard but very worthwhile enjoyed it very interesting
This was one of my favorite classes. The instructor is firm on deadlines but fair. Lots of extra credit. BUY THE WORKBOOK AND PRINT OUT HIS LECTURE NOTES. Fun and engaging lectures. He is tricky, like really tricky. His questions on the exam are similar to the workbook but he words them a little harder. only teacher upset he has no chillies
Professor Shoemaker was an excellent professor. He was very good at engaging the class with his many hypotheticals. He graded hard, but all in all, the material was definitely something I'd use after college. He offered a lot of extra credit, too. If you follow the study guide, study well, and go to class every time, you should do great!
I really enjoyed Professor Shoemaker's class. He made a difficult subject really easy to understand! Many students say that he is a hard teacher, but as long as you do what Professor Shoemaker tells you to do, you will be fine. His tests are tricky but they are fair. He also gives really good life advice and tips! Take him you will have fun (:
Shoemaker is a good professor BUT he's a SUPER Hard Greater! Midterms and Finals are SUPER hard even tough you've being studying all night long. There's quizzes every week AND he explains the content after the quiz, that didn't work for me. Its a hard class to be an intro to business class. Presentations are easy but beware of instructions.
Professor Shoemaker is probably one best professors I've had at West Valley. You'll learn a lot during each lecture and he provides real world examples of the topic you're learning about to help solidify your understanding. You can tell he actually likes teaching and knows his stuff. Tests are tricky so use the workbook to study!
Taken Fall 2016. You get what you put in. Participation matters. Powerpoints available online so you can print out for notes in class. Funny guy. Seems to care. Get the workbook. For me difficulty wasn't too hard for me (I got a 5 on AP Gov tho). Lecture notes and workbook will help you succeed. Willing to help if you come. Extra Credit available.
tough grader. His feedback are a bit rude but he's an okay teacher.
He's a good teacher but he talks very fast. Very knowledgeable on the subject. Learned a lot from his class. He curves his test based on the highest class score. I was in a very small class with 12-13 people. He helps you on homework outside of class. Lots of memorization of vocab and other things
Had him for Intro and Business Law. One of the best professors I've had. I switched to Business after taking him in Fall 2016. He's very reasonable with tests and homework. That said, don't take the class lightly. Study a lot for tests, stay on top of the quizzes in Intro, stay on top of the homework in Business Law. Great discussions. Take him!
Lance's real estate lawyer who's been teaching for over 10 years he gives very specific and real life examples in all of the work that we do in class you have to read Because this is a law class but the material isn't your grandfather's law book they use a pretty simple version of business law today if you follow instructions this class is a Easy A
Great teacher. Hard work though. His exams are no joke. But he's really awesome guy and really cares about his students. If you really want to succeed just make sure to see him during his office hours. He has a way of making everything okay and helping you get a passing grade on the class
This is not an easy A class, participation matters, so show up and join in on the conversation. Print the lecture notes out so you can pay attention to the lectures. He uses news stories and real life examples to help student understand the material. Very engaging and knowledgeable about the topic. Highly recommend his class, buy the STUDY GUIDE.
Great teacher. Gives personal experiences to help you understand the material better. Is a very well respected and funny teacher. He makes business super interesting. Just follow the syllabus and you'll have a good semester.
Great sense of humor and tells interesting stories that go along with the material in class which helps you remember important info. Is very clear and understanding, and is not a teacher who will discriminate on your opposing viewpoints. Show up to class, do your work, and study you will get an A. Overall a very great teacher in and out of class!
I took Business law and Intro to Business with Professor Shoemaker. The class is challenging and allows you to use these concepts and apply them into your life. His exams are curved based on the highest score in the class. There will be 2 marketplace presentations and he corrects you on grammar because he wants you to be professional!
My favorite instructor at West Valley! I took him for Business Law and Intro to Business. Participation matters, so make sure you attend class, are always there on time and speak up! If you join in on the lecture convos it makes class more fun too. He has great hypotheticals and actual life examples that are interesting and really help you learn!
TAKE HIM! He is honestly a fantastic teacher. His tests are a little challenging but honestly if you take his advice on how to study and actually read the textbook youll pass. If you ask him for help, he will really do anything to help you out. I started off by having a C in his class to having the highest grade in class. Just take his class!
Personally, my favorite prof. at WVC. You can tell he actually cares about his job and enjoys educating his class. Lots of lecture, but the topics are interesting and the class is always engaged. Very tough grader. Seems like no matter how well you do on an assignment he always finds a way to dock some points. That would be my only criticism.
Lance Shoemaker is a great professor, his lectures are very interesting (and entertaining), he cares about the class and it's hard enough that you feel good about being good. One of the few classes I've enjoyed going to this semester, it has gotten me into law and i'm now thinking about going to law school. I Strongly recommend taking him.
This class runs good
Lance is a really reasonable professor but also has high standards if you are gunning for an A. Everything is laid out very clear, you are given ample to time to do assignments and if you turn assignments in he will go over them and tell you what you need to fix. I learned a lot from the class and participated all the time.
Honestly one of the best professors Ive ever had. He really pushes you, but in a positive manner. I have never felt more motivated to do well in a class, especially one I had been dreading to take. Tough grader but he will point out your mistakes and help you improve. Wish I could take more classes with him!
I don't recommend to take his class. He's tough and wasnt accommodating. His tests werent based on the study guides. This is not a PhD level. This is JUST an intro class. The teacher had way too many high expectations from his students. So future D.E.S.P. students, if you feel like taking a business class, DONT take Lance. Youll regret it.
Absolutely incredible teacher. He wants you to take the initiative and learn, leaving it up to you to follow his slides and study yourself. Only homework is two podcast presentations. Make sure you read ahead of his quizzes, but his quizzes are very easy if you did the reading. Read his instructions carefully, and he's happy to answer questions.
Potentially the best teacher at WV. Extremely fair, and very direct to the point. There is no smoke and mirrors in this class, law is law. Only 3 homework assignments (so dont mess up). Theres a lot of material on the tests but it is really all applied knowledge so its not impossible. Some of the material is crucial to know in real life application
Lance is great--fun, clear lectures, very fair on grades. Homework is reasonable, helps prepare you for tests. Excellent feedback on HW ahead of due dates--every chance to improve & succeed. Tests are multiple choice & short answer, with an essay portion that is open-book. Turn HW in early, study hard, know the facts, write clearly, get an A.
I took Professor Shoemaker for my last spring semester. Lance gives great feedback on your homework if you submit it one week before the due date. You receive points for improving on exams. He also gives the funniest lectures. Unfortunately, due to covid we had to switch to online, yet the class was still awesome. Best professor of the semester.
I took him for a dual enrollment class at my high school, and even though the class had to transition online, it was probably my favorite class (at least top 3) I've ever taken throughout my school experience. His lectures are most of the class, and they are very interesting and gives you a chance to participate in the lectures. Very engaging & wis
Great professor. Only lectures, but he manages to make it fun and engaging through crazy hypotheticals and class participation. Warning: Do not mess with his hypotheticals. I learned a lot and the class wasn't too hard, but still a challenge. Attendance isn't mandatory and he doesn't take attendance, but it's highly recommended.
I took Lance for Business Law dual enrollment that started in the classroom and ended online due to COVID-19. I can say without a doubt this has been my favorite teacher I have ever had. He cares very much about his students and pushes you to do your best. Also, his lectures are very entertaining and his personality helps a lot. Class runs good!
Lance is a good professor and his class is an easy A as long as you put in the work. He gives good feedback on homework and also offers a variety of extra credit opportunities. You take a 6 min. quiz every week before a new chapter, he does this to make sure you read the textbook. They're not that hard as long as you read the chapter.
A pretty epic teacher! Had really interesting lectures and very insightful on the subject and made class pretty interesting despite being online. Good at communicating with students but it is so important to participate in class as it is part of your grade! Is very generous when curving and super accommodating!
Professor Shoemaker gives excellent lectures, grades fairly, and doesn't take himself too seriously. He will tell you exactly how to pass should you choose to listen. Requires webcams be on and incentivizes participation. There aren't a huge number of graded items, so the ability to spend time every day working on something due later is necessary.
I had taken professor shoemaker in the past and I honestly didn't like him, but after taking him again for Busn Law I now realize that I was the problem before. Once you engage in the class and actually ask questions and participate, you start to realize that Shoemaker is an amazing professor. I 100% recommend taking him for any business classes.
I had taken professor Shoemaker in the past and I honestly didn't like him, but after taking him again for Busn Law I now realize I was the problem before. Once you engage in the class, ask questions, and participate, the class is actually really fun and Shoemaker is an amazing professor. I 100% recommend taking him for any business classes.
Such an amazing teacher!! Quite easy if you read the chapter. Also, make sure to not make any grammar mistakes on the podcast project! I would definitely take his class again. One thing to note is that his exams and quizzes go by fast so make sure you are well prepared and ready to go.
Lance is a unique teacher for sure but I loved him. He definitely makes you work for your grade but at the same time he gives you everything need to get the A. PARTICIPATION MATTERS and he respects you if you speak up and appeal things. I would highly recommend this class but if you're looking for an easy A this is not the class for you.
When he teaches he only uses examples the whole time and then when it comes time for the test he puts the definitions down so whatever you've learned makes no sense. His midterm was ridiculous and would be extremely difficult if you cannot read/type fast. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS ONLINE! He's a fun teacher but I would not take him again. Not an easy A
Prof. Lance is the best teacher I've had periodtt He is very knowledgeable and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. He is a fair grader & grades on a curve! He will give you all the tools for an A in the class (GET WORKBOOK). Participation & attendance are important but his lectures are fun and worth it. Lots of real-life advice & friendly!
This class was the hardest class I have taken at WV but it was definitely one of the best. The lectures are very entertaining. If you do exactly what Lance says then you will pass. READ THE BOOK and STUDY BEFORE EXAM. Speak up in class and ask questions. This class is a lot of work, but if you can do it, a lot of reward too.
I took both BUS28 and BUS51 with Mr. Shoemaker some time ago and it was a great experience and decision on my end to do. He knows how to teach a class well in person and not in an engaging manner that makes all the topics fun to learn. Easily the best teacher I've had in my learning journey. Make sure to study and prepare for exams. Class runs good
PARTICIPATE. 15% of the grade was participation, and I really didn't participate at all. I had good enough test scores & HW for an A in the class, but due to my participation I got a B. Don't do what I did, try to participate as much as the person who participates the most to get an A. Also make flashcards of the review sheets. Great professor
Lance is a good prof. He gives adequate feedback and the group project isn't that hard. Actually do the readings because he won't lecture on the chapter before he gives the chapter quiz. Remember people's presentations because it's for extra credit at the end of the sem.
By far the best professor I've had in my three years of college experience. Extremely knowledgeable professor who can make boring lectures entertaining through his sense of humor and stories. The class is fairly difficult but if you put in the time, you will succeed and probably become interested in law by the interesting cases he presents.
I took this class as a non-business major, and with his teaching style, everything was fairly easy to understand. When it comes to taking his exams, do the study guides and use the workbook questions, it will make life easier! He is very engaging and cares a lot about his students' success, by far my favorite professor I've had at West Valley :)
Fantastic and very educational teacher! He helps students understand material better, is great at lecturing, and is very accessible as well as caring. He is interested in getting to know students, and I really enjoyed having a good teacher who makes the class reasonably challenging, fun, and educational all at once.
I'm jiggy with this class.
Half of the tests are open note (like you can use your laptop) but it's impossible to google the answers. Take good notes from the textbook and workbook. It's cheat codes for the test. Very cool and realistically I think I should have failed, but he's very generous with extra credit and helping you during the endgame of the semester with scores.
Passing his class was very easy, we didn't have homework during the whole semester just 3 quizzes and one final project other than that it was just class. The class itself has a lot of information but Lance always has a real-life example for it which makes the class material a lot easier, 100% recommended!!!
The professor doesn't show grades until the end of the semester when it is too late to make changes. If you ask for help, he will say there's nothing he can do because it's too late. I will never retake it, nor do I recommend it. More than 50% of the students who entered the class dropped it towards the end.
Professor Shoemaker is a really great teacher, his years of experience are really helpful. He sticks to his rules and that is actually a good thing. He treats everyone equally and with respect. We had a student with learning challenges and Shoemaker was so patient and really made sure the student felt like an equal - he was really great with him.
Lance is top 3 among my favorite professors I've had at WV. His class is 100% more impactful if you take him in person rather than online for business law. You're setting yourself up to fail if you neither read the textbook nor use the study guide, or if you just don't do what he says as a whole. Also, don't miss out on bad video day.
Probably one of the best classes I've ever taken in my life. I looked forward to every class. Very organized and structured, very fun, as long as you do the work you'll get an A. Pay attention, participate, Lance is awesome
This class is filled with good tidings and mirth!
This class was very challenging but I learned so much. He is a tough grader and the exams are hard, but his lectures are awesome and engaging. I seriously think he fixed my attention span because I was always locked in. Participation is huge but he gives so many opportunities to students who may be nervous to participate. Tough class but worth it!
If you have little/no interest in law, you will find his class difficult. If you do, TAKE THE CLASS you will love it. He gives a lot of examples PLEASE write them down, it will come in handy during the open-note portion of his exams. Honors has 8 additional assignments and participation matters more. He might seem intimidating but he means no harm.
This is a tough class. So if you lack good study skills, you need to look elsewhere. There is not much homework but the amount of studying will make up for that. Make sure you are consistently doing the readings each week because you won't get away with studying at the last minute. Also, this class is a good indicator if you can handle university.
This course was probably one of the best-taught and most enjoyable courses I've ever taken. Lance's class is taught at a reasonable pace, and his teaching style is almost perfect. He uses examples, both real and hypothetical, to explain all the concepts, which really helps. He's also really funny. He's the best attorney/professor/guncle for real.
since graduating i can say that this was the best class ever. if you show up, participate, and do the assignments to the best of your ability you will succeed. he is very passionate about law and it shows in his lectures. genuinely the most rewarding class and it made me more interested in law. and if he seems blunt that is just how he is.
Lance was amazing. Although attendance isn't directly mandatory, it does impact your participation grade, which is pretty important (at least in the honors section). He tells some great stories that bring the lectures to life. Offers a good amount of extra credit, and the exams were challenging but not impossible as long as you study.
Exams are difficult and make up most of your grade so prepare well. If you really want to do well and want extra resources, you can purchase cengage unlimited to have more exam prep. I recommend you take an econ class as well because econ classes in WVC require you to purchase cengage access anyway and the review tools are helpful for both classes.
Looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. Very tough and picky on the HW. You miss a couple of details, he'll deduct a ton of points. His study guides, workbook, and textbook won't prepare you and don't align with his insanely difficult exams, consisting of MC, free-response, both closed-book, and long essay questions. Please find a good study group.
The class is not about preparing students, it is just to make you work unnecessarily. Nobody has that kind of time to waste and not used for real learning or development. Class was not posted on time and hw was set the wrong due dates. Take the class with someone else who put more thoughts/care into it.
Don't take this professor unless you are already a lawyer. Doesn't post grades on canvas, unavailable outside of class, and tests are very hard. He must've bought accounts to give him a better rating. Unnecessarily tough grader. Half the class drops before final. Do yourself a favor and pick another instructor.
The two reviews below this are buIIs**t. The class is definitely on the more difficult side. Grades are not posted on Canvas, but you can just ask during office hours. Half the class did not drop before the final, and the tests and HW are not super hard. The knowledge is useful if you are open to learning and can see beyond a letter grade.
Really a default teacher knowledgeable and passionate about their subject. Participation matters don't join if you intend to never speak will kill your grade. HW is straightforward but make sure it's formatted correctly (ask him, not posted on canvas) Test 1 + 2 study guide and you'll be fine. Final exam can't lie that study guide is NOT helpful.
