He is the math chair at SCC. He teaches all of the upper level maths. I took him for Differential equations. He is not a hard teacher but he mumbles and jumps from subject to subject. He has a great web site which if followed A's are easy
It was Diff EQ. Hard to understand what he is saying, juumps around in the notes making the material more difficult than it needs to be. The book is even worse. His website is the only thing that is worth a penny. I would not take him again.
He is a great instructor who goes over many examples in class, and gives tons of extra credit problems. He loves his subject, which makes him a better teacher.
For Diff Eq, very disorganized in his presentation of material. Very hard to follow examples on the board because he changes the problem in mid-stream to show different ways the problem could vary. Office hrs? Go to someone else. Do not Recommend!
Nice guy. Will take time out to help his students. A little dull, but animated. Will definitely have an A in there. Would take him again. The class isn't impossible, but you do have to do some work.
Awesome. Loves math. Go to his office, he'll answer any question. Very helpful website.
This is a great professor. You WILL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL if you don't put in the time outside of class though. He is very clear on what will be on the tests and his website is very helpful. Also offers many Ex.Credit. opportunities. I highly recommend him.
He is the best teacher that I have had the privilege of taking. His love for math shows in his zest while teaching, both in class and during office hours. He makes you work your ass off, but the knowledge gained is well worth it. Thank you, Sir!
All I can say is " Mr. Vosbury, you're THE man!!!!"
He often isn't very clear when explaining problems, and he relies heavily on his website during lecture. The tests are hard, but he offers enough extra credit that an A isn't impossible for those willing to work for it.
This teacher rocks!
Bad teacher. mumbles incoherently through examples. has quite a bad speech impedement. socially awkward during office hours. easy A course though mainly because his tests are exactly the same as the previous semesters.
Excellent Teacher, No doubt about it. Very interesting visualization of the applications of math to the real life

I was warned prior to the class not to take him by a bunch of prior students. I should have listened. I ended up dropping the class because his lecture style was so bizarre. He is a VERY NICE PERSON, but his lectures are so bizarre, I just couldnt follow along. Good luck and clean out your ears if you take him, his speech is not the clearest!
Greatest math teacher at SCC, along with the now-retired Billy Jordan. His speech impediment does not hinder his teaching at all. He is an excellent teacher, and understands the material to an astounding level, yet is able to bring it down to the realm of 2000 level classes. Indescribably great. Also take for MAP2313 (DiffEq).
GREAT CLASS, GREAT TEACHER. REALLY WANTS HIS STUDENTS TO SUCCEED. CLASS IS A LOT OF WORK, BUT IF YOU PUT FORTH THE EFFORT, AN "A" IS CERTAINLY OBTAINABLE. MANY CHANCES FOR EXTRA CREDIT, AND MR VOSBURY IS VERY HELPFUL WHEN NEEDED.
Yes, Professor Vosbury has some speech difficulty, but you can still understand him. He was a great teacher, and provides the students with all the tools they need to do well. He is very helpful and patient. If you care, you'll do great in his class.
Great professor, lots of extra credit and you get to use Maple during exams. His notes are extremely helpful and make the book almost useless. Regarding Diff Eq, exams are no more than 7 in-class questions and 3-4 take home questions. Regarding Calc III, his exams are more challenging and about 20 questions each.
A smart guy but difficult to keep up with if math isn't your best subject. Can be a bit difficult to understand due to a speech impediment. Lectures mostly from Powerpoint and goes FAST!! Like I said, if math is not you strong suit, then take someone else!! Nice guy though :)
Great teacher. He gives pretty easy test if you have a fair understanding of the material. He gives lots of extra credit. Be warned though he gives more conceptual knowledge than he does examples and he uses more math terminology than most teachers and those were the two most frequent complaints from classmates.
He's a really laid back teacher who makes math easy to understand with the use of computers and today's technology. Tests are usually straight forward and he tells you ahead of time what's going to be on it. Nice guy, good teacher, but can be a bit lazy and tends to go off a bit much on theories. I would take him again.
This guy has a passion for math - and it shows. His classes are mathematically stimulating; he goes through proofs and deriving formulas a lot instead of doing more examples. But that's okay, he's really nice, gives a TON of EC and his tests are not too bad because he tells you exactly what's going to be on them. Great for higher level math classes
Top guy. World will be a far better place if there were more people like professor Vosbury. I clearly remember once the question was about bombs hitting a target he changed the bombs to bean bags! As for the actual material i thought his class was a bit difficult and you have to be really good in math to get an A
by far the best math teacher ive had in my college experience. lets you use your computer or scientific calculator on tests to solve problems. tells you exactly what kind of problems are going to be on the test. strongly recommend.
Professor Vosbury can paint but is unable to draw. This bodes well for his mathematical abilities, as it suggests an aptitude regarding higher abstract thought which is conducive to spacial temporal reasoning (cross L-R hemisphere attributes). A very lenient teacher who delves into technical abstraction. Good Luck on the four color theorem. Esoteri
Very hard to understand him. He's a good teacher, knows what he's talking about. His tests aren't that hard for the average math student. But if you're not very good at math, I wouldn't recommend him. Nice guy, but class very boring.
professor vosbury is great. he has a wealth of knowledge, and gives you plenty of chances to ask questions. his tests are fair, and learning from him is a pleasure. If you are interested in math, take him
He's hard to understand & he moves very very slowly, he once took an entire hour just to do 2 problems that should have taken 5 mins. each. I'm very good at math but by the time he finally finishes the problem I can't really remember how to do it.He really is a sweet old man but he does not know how to teach. If you care about learning don't take
A VERY INTELLEGNET MAN. VERY DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW HIS TEACHING. JUMPS AROUND TO MUCH WHEN EXPLAINING PROBLEMS.YOU LOOSE INTREST IN SUBJECT. VERY PROFESSIONAL.
He's a smart, funny guy who works hard. His tests are fair (although they can sometimes be tough), but he gives an almost excessive number of extra credit opportunities and his website is incredibly helpful.
very helpful when you really want to learn about the subject
I took Prof. Vosbury for Calc II, III, and Dif. Eq. He is by far the best math instructor I've had. He explains things very well. Gives enormous opportunities for extra credit. I highly recommend him for the higher level maths, as these classes can be a real pain at UCF w/ 200 people in your class.
Vosbury is a great person, I have nothing against him but he does not teach well. He takes aprx the whole class to finish one problem. He does not explain clearly on what he will test on. but he does give an extreme amount of extra credit, his class is not easy. Expect to have headaches by the end of the tests Oh and I got 89.4 and gave me a B.
I had him for DiffEq and CalcIII. No professor is perfect but overall he's great and very generous. Test questions were similar to the countless examples he has on his website, which is very helpful. He gave extra credit, extra time and extra help. No offense to guy below but I've never had an 89.4 rounded to an A in any class at SCC or UCF.
I am not sure how he has been teaching as long as he has. He is dificult to understand and not helpful at all. He works against his students instead of with them. Stay away . . . far away.
He teaches from notes he must have made in the 1970s. He is boring and doesn't do anything to make the classes more interesting. I will not recommend him to my friends.
He is the first professor I have had taht was able to actually diminish my interest in math. Before I took his class, I loved math; after Vosbury, I might change my major. No recommendation here! Take someone else.
He uses notes from the 1970s. He sticks to the textbook too much. He thinks Reading from the book is all a teacher needs to do. The college might as well put a robot in front of the class to read from the book. For all of yuo who might be thinking about taking hiom in the furure, don't do it! You'll regret taking a course with him!
Awful comes to mind when I think about his teaching ability. He relies on the textbbok for everything. Avoid taking any course with him if you can!!
He has a website where numerous examples for every type of problem is worked out. His lectures are informative and make calculus straight-forward. The books is referenced but not needed. Generous extra credit is given. There is no excuse not to get an A.
He is the WORST math teacher I have ever had! I am an A student in math and he makes me hate the subject! Do NOT take him!! He is hard to understand and would rather tell old stories then teach math he takes all class to get through one problem! Beware!
Just awful. Don't take an courses with him.
He's boring and he sticks to whatever the book says. Don't bother asking him something outside of the textbook. I could have learned just as much reading the book on my own. Do yourself a favor and take this course with anyone else.
Mr. Vosbury has ben the worst professor I have ever seen. I am near the end of my degre program and I can't imagine a worse professor than he. Do not take a course with him.
Everything was taught directly out of the textbook. The professor had nothing more to offer! Do yourslf a favor and find a more dynamic professor!
I can't imagine a worse professor than Vosbury. If I had the choice between Vosbury or another college, I'd go to another college to take any math course he, alone, teaches. I do not recommend him
Taking a course with Vosbury was one the the worst college experiences I have had!! Do NOT take a course with him.
Mr. Vosbury offered nothing more than noises in front of the class. He sticks to the book. He adds nothing else!! Don't take his course.
By no definition I knnow, is Vosbury a teacher! He basically reads the textbook to us in class.
I feel that I got the foundation from him that I needed to move on to more advanced classes.
I wish I had taken this course with someone else. I am rarely critical of my professors, Mr. V. however, was less than adequate.
You'd think that with as much experience Vosbury has, he'd be a better teacher. Maybe he was good at one time. I wish I had him when he knew how to teach.
One of the better professors I've had. He offered a ton of extra credit as long as you put in the work to answer the probs. All the examples on his website gave me a good idea of what to study for tests.
If you like a professor who sticks to he book and all the examples within the book, he's the professor for you. Otherwise, stay away from his courses.
I am glad I took his class my last semester at college. Had I had Vosbury my first term, I probably would have dropped out. He does not care about his students. He is arrogant. Try to avoid his courses!!
Professor Vosbury was great! He gives excellent notes, takes his time through examples. His online resources really help. I took him 2 years ago (two calc classes and Diffy Q), and having a few classes left in my engineering program I can honestly say he taught me well. Some of these comments are way off base, just people looking for easy path.
I was interested in being a math major until I took his course. He ruined my interest!! Good luck if you take him. I'd advise against it.
I would avoid a class with him at all costs!! He does not speak clearly. He does not clearly state the objectives of the course. If you can, take another instructor!!
He really helped me a lot to understand the material. He found a way to boil the information from the textbook down to present the key components. Grades fairly also.
He loves to teach which makes his class a pleasure to go to. He is quiet so be sure to sit close to the front if at all possible. I have had bad experiences with learning this material with other teachers but Vosbury gives ample opportunity to pass. Extra credit is available and he is very fair in his grading.
Quite possibly the worst instructor I have ever had. I already have my Bachelor's Degree and I am attempting a new start in life; so, I have had plenty of instructors before I took this course. He was aloof most of the time and behaved in a way that made me think he didn't enjoy teaching. I highly discourage you from taking a course with him.
Quite possibly one of the worst professors I have had. Half the time he goes off on tangents away from the main lecture, which frankly aren't that helpful in the first place. I have always excelled at math. He will quite often spend a whole lecture period on just one example of one concept of one part of a section of the chapter.
Though he does allow you to have formula sheets for his test, he does not teach with clarity. Expect lots of homework that is not designed to prepare you for the tests. You will do many problems that you will not be tested on and not enough problems on the material you will be tested on. His lectures are long, required, and monotoned.
Tests are 66% quizzes and hw are both 17%. Quizzes are just a way to make sure ur coming to class. His lectures arent the best , but his website is great. He goes over what will be on the test, its basically on the website. Practice the website and then questions similar in the book. He also gives EC so thats great. should be an easy B
I'm surprised Mr. Vosbury doesn't have a higher score. About the only accurate thing i've read here is that he's quiet, everything else hasn't been true or is an exaggeration. he gives lots of extra credit and is very helpful (he'll stay after, let you use formula sheets or whatever), he really wants you to pass. He's a good teacher.
Mr. Vosbury is soft spoken, but he knows what he is doing. He offers copious amounts of extra credit. If you do the online homework and study, tests should be a breeze. He wants to pass you, as long as you put in effort. He is available to help. Sometimes it is hard to understand him, but a quick jump to the textbook clarifies everything.
Although Differential Equations is not a class that I find hard, Vosbury makes it incredibly difficult for me to learn as his tone when lecturing is very mono-toned. I've survived the semester with a 93 A solely because I searched up YouTube videos for help. Also, quizzes are easy so don't miss class.
He has obviously been teaching a long time. Way too long! He is far from clear. His lectures sound like the ramblings of an old man. I would NEVER take another class with him. I would prefer to drive to Valencia College than to take another class with him.
Every class has a quiz which are basically attendance grades. Show up get max credit. Homework is due the Sunday after each test. I recommend doing them prior to the test. He gives extra credit through out the class, take advantage of this.
i took him for calc 3 .very hard to understand .his notes does not help because he skips so many steps i got B in class but did not learned anything reason i got b was extra credit which was take home otherwise i would get D . if your major is engineering or computer scince dont take him take some one else and his exmas are really hard.
He is hard to understand, his lectures are extremely boring. His tests are really hard but he does give some extra credit.
If you *need* calculus for your future job, he might not be the best professor to take- but if you're like me and just needed it for your major- he is awesome. He's by far the best math professor I have ever had, not that it is a particularly hard bar to suprass. I barely studied, but I still got a B.
No . . . just NO! Don't take him. He doesn't know how to teach.
He's great. He spends a lot of time explaining what you're doing conceptually. The homework is where you SHOULD be figuring out how to do it mathematically. He tells you what you need to do on the test and gives extra credit. No reason why you shouldn't get at least a B unless you're not doing any work.
He's difficult t understand. and he's not very approachable. I would rather go to Valencia than take another class with this guy. He lectures come right from the book like a robot. Do not take any course with him!
He sticks to the textbook and doesn't seem to be able to think outside the book! I do not recommend him!
My rating says it all. I do not recommend Vosbury. He is extremely arrogant and he thinks he's above everyone else!
He is a very chill professor. He doesn't go very in depth into the different math problems. I personally didnt like him because he was too lenient and didn't care so much. Hes more of a "do what you want, I dont care its your grade" type of professor. He does give a lot of extra credit opportunities. But I had to teach myself way too much material
Think of a grandfather teaching you mathematics who will constantly reminisce in the past years of learning and teaching calculus. That is exactly how Prof. Vosbury is. He's a very caring teacher, but he will make you want to gauge your eyes out from boredom. Very monotone voice and constantly gets distracted. Gives lots of extra credit!
If you don't already understand calculus do not take him. He is super confusing, doesnt go into depth, just shows you plain formulas and not even show you an example on how you could use it. Please do not waste your time with him he will make you fall asleep. I have basically have to teach all the material to myself, also the HW is hard.
I fully regret taking his course. He's very monotonous and rambles continuously. His test are brutal, pages upon pages of equations and you have to show your work and make it understandable to him otherwise he'll deduct points. The only good thing is that you can earn a lot of extra credit. Spare yourself, you've been warned.
Prof. Vosbury's attitude towards the students is positive and he helps the students succeed by posting resources and chances for extra credit on Canvas. The tests are difficult but he grades by understanding rather than correct answers. Some people may find this class difficult because it requires you to be self motivated and work hard on your own.
Professor Vosbury truly cares about his students. This class is not an easy A if you put in no effort. He has so many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester that its almost impossible to fail unless you dont put in the effort. He gives practice exams (optional) that almost mirror the actual exams. 10/10 great professor.
Avoid at all costs. He is very difficult to understand normally let alone complex mathematical concepts. He has many random assignments that have nothing to do with what was taught(especially tests). If you are going to take calc II, I recommend professor Shafer. Unfortunately, for online calc III he is unavoidable. I REPEAT AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
He is definitely a bit tough professor. But If you're taking him, make sure to put your best effort. Hope you'll do it.
