Brother Baker is a really awesome guy and teacher! His class is difficult, but he's very generous with giving you opportunities to get extra points. And he makes himself available and is easy to talk to. He has a great sense of humor and is good at motivating students to do well. Loved having him as a teacher!
Brother Baker is a great teacher. He is very open to questions in class. He has 3 point i-clicker quizes over reading every class that are fairly easy. He offers tons of extra credit. He gives us pointers on what is on his tests. He puts all of his power points online.
Bro Baker's class was my favorite this semester! It was a one hour class once a week and we either had guest speakers or lectures from Bro Baker about different areas of biology. Every class was new and interesting! We had four essays and two quizzes over the whole semester, super easy. If you need another credit or an easy A, take this class.
Bro. Baker is the man! End of story. Of the A&P teachers, you're not going to find a better one. Tests are hard, but other teachers' are harder. Everything is from the book, which makes life convenient
Brother Baker is the best teacher ever!! This was my favorite class last semester and he is super helpful. He wants you to work hard but if you try your best you will do great!
Take A&P from him! He curves all of his tests and give bonus questions on the daily i-clicker quizzes and lab quizzes. Your final can replace your lowest exam score too! Do the reading, study the materials he gives you and it is easy. I got an A without a problem.
Awesome teacher! Take anat and phys from him! He is very helpful and understanding. He explains things in a way that are easy to understand and he won't move on to more material until you can understand it. He gives extra points and has a cool laid back personality
Brother Baker is SUPER helpful and he does everything he can to help you understand the material. He's also SUPER approachable, not scary at all. Just because it's an anatomy class it's pretty challenging, but I would definitely recommend Brother Baker! He definitely looks out for the student's best interest :)
For Brother Baker's class, you definitely got what you put into the class. He had daily quizzes on the reading, so always keep up on that. Take advantage of his office time, it will help a lot! If you put the right amount of hours unto this class, you will do well.
His class was really unclear and his test questions were very tricky. I felt like his lectures were difficult to understand. He is a nice guy and wants to help but he is new and I wouldn't recommend taking anat and phys from him. The class is a tough one. But he made it tougher by his form of teaching.
Bro Baker is AWESOME!! Class was canceled several times, which was handy since I was taking several upper level classes. The homework was super easy as it should be for a 1 credit class.
Baker is the bomb. Plus he's really hott.
Great teacher, tests are easy if you do the study guide and take his online practice quizzes. A great teacher who cares about his students. Learns your name within days and knows how well you did on each test, so he will talk to you. I watched a student say he was going to fail, and he told him that he would personally help him.
Brother Baker is probably one of the greatest and most hilarious teachers ever! He makes that class really fun and has a really soft spoken voice. He also looks sort of like the main guy from law and order criminal intent... But thats not important. He's very clear and makes things easy to understand.
Brother Baker is interesting. His teaching can be difficult to understand at times, but if you ask for help, he will try to clarify as best he can. Many times students were confused, but the subject(light and sound), physics, biology and psych were pretty challenging subjects to understand anyway.
He is a really cool dude. The class was extremely helpful if you are going into a medical field. He is a good professor.
Best teacher I've had at BYU-I! He is a great teacher with a sense of humor. He understands the subjects on a level that allows him to make it clear to the students. I would recommend him to anyone that is willing to put in a bit of effort to learn, if you are looking for easy ride he's not for you but if you want to learn he's the best.
Amazing teacher!!! I took him for 265, he was the best biology teacher I have had at this school so far and I am a senior. Very helpful and very clear on what you should know for tests. This class isn't too hard if you know how to study properly.
His lecture slides go by a little fast which is annoying, but he is so funny and I love his stories that relate to what were learning about. Plus he is super HOT.
Brother Baker is AMAZING! His lectures are really helpful. He is super patient and when someone doesn't understand something, he will always explain it again. He is fun and has perfect analogies that make the material click. The class is hard and has a lot of material, but Brother Baker makes it as easy as possible. TAKE ANY CLASS YOU CAN FROM HIM!
he is a great teacher who teaches very well
Pretty easy class, just keep up with the reading and actually go to class. For one of our activities we got to hold human brains, which was pretty cool.
I took the health occupations introductions class and definitely recommend this class if you're considering anything health related. You basically only have to do quizzes on the lectures once a week and they are open note. Bro. Baker is so funny and soft spoken. He was accepted to med school TWICE so he knows what he's talking about.
Bro Baker is an awesome teacher. I struggled in the beginning to catch on to his testing and teaching style. You HAVE to put time into this class to do well. It is challenging. He gives you one weekly homework assignment, but you can use other people's help. If you get to know him and talk to him, he really cares about your learning and success.
He definitely knows his stuff and teaches it well. However, you must realize that you have to put in a lot of study time if you want a good grade. But really, it's an anatomy class-- so thats exactly what you should expect! You will learn so much, and he keeps it interesting. He has a great sense of humor. Go in to see him and he will help a lot!
Great teacher.
Baker was an amazing instructor for BIO264. I learned alot in the class and came out with a good grade. I took BIO265 from him and it was almost like he was a different person! I spent over 20 hours/week studying for it trying to get a PASSING grade. When I went in for help to raise my grade, he would not budge. 264-yes. 265- too hard/not helpful.
Brother Baker is a really great teacher his lectures are based off the study guides he gives you and clicker quizzes which prepare you for his tests. He's always ready to answer questions .
I had Brother Baker two semesters in a row. People say he's easy, people say he's hard. As long as you are doing your part in his class, you will get a good grade. Brother Baker is super nice and wants everyone to do well in his class. Do the reading and go to class and take good notes.
Took both A&P from him and loved every lecture!! Didn't do so well on the tests, but I feel like he is super fair with curving. He is always willing to talk outside of class in his office. Super chill!
The class was hard, but it was Anat&phys, it's going to be hard. He is very helpful and is ALWAYS willing to talk to you. He has more tests than the others but that just helps so there isnt as much material. Be sure to get a tutor because you're going to need it no matter what teacher you take. Take him and you won't regret it!
Bro. Baker is very helpful and wants you to get a good grade. Get a tutor because it is hard material. Baker goes over things several times until everyone understands it. Take good notes because that is where most of the material on the test comes from. Dont miss a single class. Go to a tutor weekly. If you do all those things, you'll do fine.
Brother Baker is really chill and he really tries to help everyone learn. He has daily readings and homework with two essays, 8 tests, and 5 OCEs. He is pretty easy and this class is easy, but it helps to do the reading beforehand.
Bro. Baker is a good teacher. His class seems hard because it is fair. You can't skim by without coming to class and doing the work. Take notes in class and you will do well on the exams. He is willing to sit down one on one and help you. Super nice and passionate about what he teaches. He even drops your lowest test score to save your grade.
I LOVE BROTHER BAKER. WILL DEF. HAVE HIM FOR MORE CLASSES!
Brother Baker is awesome. He really tries to help you understand the material. sometimes that gets in the way though. When students in my class had questions that were way in left field, he felt obligated to answer them. Loved the class. hated the class members. he makes his own textbook that has a lot of fluff. you have to seek out what to know.
Bio 264 is a tough class, but honestly I've learned more here than any other class. I hardly study for y nutrition 150 class because I learn it all in here, haha. Just study, practice the stuff and you'll do fine. He drops the lowest test, and curves every one. (which aren't written by him and are crazy difficult btw)
Wow! Brother Baker is such a great guy! He is straight forward with what you dodon't need to know for the tests. He's super helpful and always there to help. You can tell he really cares about each of his students and wants them to succeed. He was my absolute favorite professor this semester.
It's all about the reading. If you read and take the lab class along with his lecture class (thats 8 cred) you'll be fine. Don't ever skip the class or your reading! He makes the class fun and the textbook is full of jokes (though if you want a paper copy you'll have to print it out yourself or go to the copy store and have it bound)
Bio264 is hard regardless, but Brother Baker is an amazing teacher. His lectures are interesting and very clear. If you need help find him after class and he will help explain more. His class is pretty much ALL test, that are curved. There are basically no assignments. So, if you do well no test, should be easy.
I took him for Biology Orientation. Easiest class I've ever taken. All you do is show up and pay attention to the power points and take an assessment afterwards. They're supper easy. There's one final at the end but I wouldn't stress it that much.
Always willing to meet with you and go over anything you don't understand
Brother Baker is a great teacher! I had him for both 264 and 265. I highly recommend him for anyone who wants to learn and still have fun.
I personally loved Brother Baker. If you do not prepare yourself for class you will not do well. This goes for all the BIO 265 professors. Brother Baker does test reviews the class period before the test opens which helps as he tends to give out answers. If you put work in and make an effort to learn you will do well.
Easy class. Assessments can be done in groups after class. Need to attend two workshops and write about 4 (600 word) essays for the class. He is very knowledgeable about the different fields of biology careers, i'd recommend taking him for anyone interested in the field.
He's actually a decent teacher and his classes always did the best on the test! He is a funny guy but it took me a while to actually like him. If he feels like things are unfair he WILL help you and the test are always curved a few points! You really have to work HARD in the class. The only grades, are test and quizzes.
There is no textbook. Attendance optional, he does clicker tests so if you aren't there you miss those points. The class is: read incredibly hard lecture notes and slides, hear him go over slides in class, do a quiz over each section (3 a week) and then do an exam every 2-3 weeks. he lectures like a college textbook and doesnt simplify.
The class is hard if you don't know how to study for YOU. I print the lecture slides and he advised me to VIDEO RECORD the lectures. I don't read the study guide, I just pay attention in class (no notes), watch the videos once, take notes at MY pace, and take the quizzes. He cares about your grade and wants you to do well!
hard hard class. He isnt specific in his lectures and doesn't give any form of study guide
This is meant to be an easy class, however, attendance is recorded and you have a quiz each week. They can be a little tricky, but all the answers are on the slides or quizlet. You will have four 800 word essays that require MLA format. They are graded pretty easily, as long as you correctly format them. The final is cumulative but not too hard.
Brother Baker is great! It was just a 1 credit class, but extremely easy. Just stay right after and finish the quizzes with a group. But if you didn't show up to class then you might miss some stuff. I learned a lot it was great for anyone going into anything in the medical side of things.
Brother Baker is phenomenal professor. He gets straight to the point and prepares you specifically for exams. He is very forgiving, and patient with his students. I recommend going to his office hours to have things clarified if you're confused. There is so much to cover in the lecture, so take advantage of the office hours.
The tests are tough, he is not a great teacher, does not explain the material that well, and doesn't seem like he cares about your grade.I would not take him again, honestly one of the worst teachers I've had at BYUI.
Brother Baker is awesome! He is very smart and knows his stuff. Really pay attention to lecture and study a LOT on your own. Go in to talk to him after every test about what you missed. I have now taken 3 classes from him and I love it!
Brother Baker is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. He's clearly very passionate about what he teaches. The class is extremely tough, there's lots of reading, but as long as you do the readings and participate in class, you'll do great. He's always willing to go over exams and explain why you got a question wrong. Love him!!
I have taken him for BIO 264 and BIO 265, now I'm taking him for BIO 381. He is very clear in the lectures of what he expects on the exams. If he does throw in random facts, he will tell you it's an "FYI." If there is something that you better know for the exam, he will tell you to put a "star" by it. Put in the effort!! Like every other class.
I look forward to this class. If you pay attention and listen during the lectures he gives all the information you need for the quizzes. Meeting with him in his office hours is easy. He is intimidating at first but, he's actually extremely helpful. He answers your questions very well.
I love Brother Baker! He is entertaining, personable, and a fantastic teacher. He is great at answering any and all questions. As long as you prepare for the class and get your questions answered, you are set for success.
Bro. Baker's class was super easy. He was really funny and his presentations are useful and interesting.
I went to other lectures given by other professors for this class and Brother Baker was by far my favorite! He's very enthusiastic about anatomy and makes it fun. Even though it was a more difficult class he wants to make sure you understand, so he will review with you over and over again. Take this class from him!
pretty predictable, tests are really dependent on the lectures so keep up.
Prof. Baker is a sweet man, but has a very hard time explaining information in class. Questions would be avoided often. He would miss classes whenever he felt like it and would use his TA to cover. The TA wouldn't follow the modules at all. When Baker would return to class he would skip modules. Poor organization.
I thought Pathophysiology would be the death of me, but I ended up truly loving the course. It's extremely intimidating initially, but study study study and you'll be fine! Your grade is based 100% off tests. RECORD EVERY LECTURE. He gives study guides but know every powerpoint and word from lecture. He is very helpful during office hours!
Bor Baker is a good guy, but his teaching skills are abysmal. He rarely explains diseases in class and passes over slides that are crucial to his tests. He adds medical abbreviations to his slides, but will not explain what they mean unless you raise your hand. His lectures are not focused on what he tests on. Avoid.
Brother Baker is a subpar teacher. His pathophysiology class was far more difficult than it needs to be; he has a pharmaceutical background and class is basically spent scribbling down everything he says and then trying to memorize it after class. I am all for learning as I want to be a doctor, but it was too much for a 3 credit class. Take Shaw.
Brother Baker is my favorite instructor thus far! He is so caring and genuinely wants you to succeed. With that being said its possible to get an A in the class but you DEFINITELY have to work hard for it. I highly recommend recording his lectures, going to his office to ask questions, and studying at least a few hours every day. Good luck! :)
PART 1: Good guy, but as far as BIO381 goes, it was unnecessarily difficult. I'm talking a straight A student such as myself who sailed through 264 & 265 with no problems, a student who religiously studies all available resources for days before tests, just to walk out with mostly C's? Something is wrong with that picture. TAKE WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
Brother Baker is the BEST!! I honestly don't get why people wouldn't like him. I can understand why they wouldn't like his class, because it's tough. But it is a 300 level class so that is to be expected. You have to work if you want to understand everything, it is a lot of memorization! Go to his office! Study lots! You will love it!
I have been very impressed with Brother Baker. The material isn't particularly difficult, but there is a TON of it. You have to be prepared to put in a lot of time reviewing to really understand/commit things to memory. I loved the lectures and learned so much. Tests are tough (select all that apply, etc) but very doable if you put in the work.
I have had brother Baker for both Bio381 and Bio295 and he is seriously the best teacher I have ever had in all my schooling. His tests can be challenging but if you are willing to invest yourself , TAKE HIM. He cares so much and gives curves for every test. He is the funniest teacher and so easy to get along with. He welcomes people to talk to him
Bio199 is an easy class. All the information you need to know is on Quizlet. Open partner quizzes, open notes, study hard for the final.
This class requires a lot of time to study and memorize medications/MOAs, but it was very doable. He works hard to make sure you understand the "why" behind things so you aren't just memorizing random facts. Tests are fair, but you definitely need to know your stuff. He's super funny. I love the class. He sincerely wants students to succeed.
BIO 199. probably the worst class I took last semester. Very boring lectures it can be an easy A . Does not round up grades. usually 1 quiz every week, 2 papers for the semester, 2 mandatory presentations for credit, and a 25 question final.
I LOVE BROTHER BAKER! This was my favorite class I've ever taken in my whole educational history. The first day he was straight up with us and told us that it's an important class and we will need to study. But, not only did he provide us with all the information we needed, but he made class fun and interesting and is passionate about anatomy.
BIO264 is a weeder class, and it feels like it all the time too. Brother Baker has a very special teaching style that takes getting used to, but he does cover the things that are going to be on the test. Be sure not to fall asleep, or don't miss class. There's no attendance taken, but if you fall behind, you won't catch up. Very difficult class.
Bro Baker is a phenomenal teacher. Do not be afraid to take advantage of his office hours and go over your tests. His tests are difficult, but fair. He gives you all of the material that is on them and when there is something on the test he didn't cover he throws in an extra point to the curve. Your gradetests+practice quizzes, DO THE STUDYGUIDES!
I was in the nursing program when I took pharmacolgy and it was honestly harder than my nursing classes! Basically the only things in the grade book are tests, which are really hard. You have to study a lot to pass this class!
Brother Baker really tried to make class enjoyable for everyone. Honestly BIO 199 is an easy A as long as you go to a few lectures and do all the quizzes. There are 3 papers due over the semester and they ARE NOT accepted late. Missing one can drop a letter grade. Even though most people blow it off, I appreciated all the information I learned!
His class is a lecture lab but Brother Baker explains information well. I would recommend going to every class you can so he can explain the textbook reading. Read the module beforehand, go to lecture, and then read the module over again. Study groups were a HUGE help to me for this class and I would highly recommend that!
Pharm is a hard class! You can't argue with that. I found the class really hard to get interested in but Brother Baker did a good job of teaching and is clear what is on the test. You have to go to lecture to pass and put in the work but it is possible.
381 is such an interesting class but a lot of work. Expect to spend multiple hours a week to get a good grade but you find that regardless of the professor. The tests are long but you are prepared as long as you attend class and put the work in. Would definitely take this class from Baker.
I love Brother Baker. He is the greatest teacher I have ever had. He is so smart. I have never learned more in a class in my entire life. His teaching style is amazing. He is encouraging, kind, funny and intelligent. He is the best BIO teacher to take from. He was very organized, I loved this course. I would not take from anyone else.
This class requires constant repetition. In 90 minutes you cram in tons of new information which can be overwhelming unless extra work is put in. Find a study group, teach each other and go to the tutor. Brother Baker is a great teacher but turning to other sources can help as well. To me, he seemed a little intimidating and not as approachable.
Pharmacology requires work! Brother Baker is a great teacher! He really is passionate about what he teaches. It is normal to feel lost. What you need to do to succeed in this class is ask questions outside of class. Watch his YOUTUBE videos, watch other youtube videos and Do the STUDY GUIDES! Make sure you know drug all drugs and what class.
Im not a nursing major. I took this class my last semester as a prerec for MLS. Baker does not teach. He just makes you write down everything he says in class and go home and memorize it. You have to do all of the learning by yourself. I love patho but wish I was had taken a professor who actually taught and didnt just expel facts to memorize.
Get ready to give it 100%. This class is tough but rewarding!
I had Bro. baker for pharm and patho. He's an ok teacher. He has a lot to teach so his class is very lecture heavy. Patho your grade is based on tests, and pharm it's based on quizzes and tests. His tests are HARD! You need to study like crazy to get an A- on his tests. My tip to you is to avoid him if you can if you can't, then study like crazy!
Yeah, he knows his stuff and that's impressive but he throws so much extra info in when giving lectures that it feels like he is trying to confuse his students. BYUI should find someone else to teach pharm & patho. I say try your best to organize his (super confusing) power points & get extra help from outside resources. Good luck, you'll need it.
For Patho, Baker may be your only option. If I had to take the class again and had another option for a teacher, I might choose them instead. Brother Baker is not the worst and you can succeed if you work really hard, it is just hard to stay focused in class for me. If you don't mind lectures, he's your guy! Not my style, but he may be yours :)
I took Baker for Patho and Pharm and I preferred him in Pharm. If I had to take Pharm again, I would take it from him. Baker definitely tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests if you pay attention. Take good notes, don't bother reading the textbook, do EAQs early, use the tutors/study groups, focus on drug names and you will do great!
As tough as patho & pharm were at the time, I'm thankful to have taken these classes from Bro. Baker. Try to avoid taking both in the same semester if at all possible. The work you put into these classes WILL pay off once in the nursing program- so work hard and have fun!
He had his camera on but had a stillshot picture so it was as if he wasnt in class. But hed require you to have your camera on. very weird strange guy. Also, many times I get answers wrong on quizzes because he wouldnt update his slides. He doesnt give you credit. Even though answers you got we on older slide which he provides to you 4 quizzes.
Pharmacology is the strangest class I have ever taken. You literally just memorize minute details from each of his slides and take a test on it. He trails off into topics unrelated to the class often, is often late to class and always runs over time. Students have to make up for his shortcomings.
It's really unfortunate that Brother Baker is the only teacher for this course because his idea of teaching is not where it's at. You literally just watch hours worth of lectures from past semesters then come to class where he expects you to know everything. You just memorize drugs from his powerpoints without a list so the tests make no sense.
Im used to tough classes but his classes are impossible. I've never studied harder in my life and my grades are suffering. Its like he thinks his class is the only one that is important and that you should spent every second studying for his tests. His slides make no sense and neither do the tests. Prepare to fail! (Took 295&381)
Baker was fine. The problem I had was that after class he quizzed us on what we went over. You were allowed to use lecture material, 8 out of 10 questions were about the material but he never went over that material. Pretty upset I wrote him emails only to hear him say yeah I wrote a new one and it was the same garbage format. Avoid taking BIO199.
I thought his class structure wasn't very conducive to student learning. Just studying off confusing and barebone PowerPoints, stressing about every obscure drug detail, and the kicker for me was that he scheduled the final exam (comprehensive and a LOT) 3 days before the end of the semester. Why not give us those three days to study?
As college during Coronavirus continues Brother Baker becomes more lazy by the day. Sometimes he didn't even teach and just said "Watch the recorded video". I honestly don't know how he's still employed by BYUI. They're usually a lot more selective with their professors.
I think people on this site rate Bro. Baker too harshly. If you watch the lectures, take notes on your slides, and then study them for the tests (start a couple days before the exam), you will be just fine! His classes are tough but welcome to college people, we are here to learn and work hard. You can learn a LOT from his class, just put in effort
Very unapproachable. I went into his office hours multiple times and he was very rude and not paying attention to anything I was saying. Kind of an outlier for a BYU Idaho professor, most of them are much different and want to help. He's super smart though and knows his subject.
Lectures are extremely long and he talks the whole time. If you have a hard time focusing take from another professor. He does know his stuff and is good about preparing you for the exams if you go to class.
Everyone likes to complain about Bro. Baker but I enjoyed pharm greatly. The class is set up for you to succeed. As long as you know the slides and have it all memorized you will be fine, there is not a good reason that people struggle with this class. The TA's are amazing and are there to help you do well!
If you want a professor that communicates with you think again. You will not get a single message from him. He could care less if you pass. His lectures are good but extremely long. And he relies heavily on his student aide. Thank heavens the student aide during my semester was smart and knew what he was doing. Taking from him online was awful.
bro. baker is actually a kind person.. his class just isnt set up very well for the success of his students. the TAs are really helpful if you reach out. his lectures almost always go overtime and theyre VERY content heavy. overall nice dude, just needs to restructure the course.
Not sure why people hate on Bro Baker. I took 264 and 265 from him and passed with high As. I watched very few of the lectures, I mostly just read the book. He does give good test reviews, and gives clues to what will be on the test. He also explains the physiology well if you ever get confused. He's a good guy and he cares a lot that you do well.
Baker is a great professor. I didnt go to class much because I do better learning by myself, but have talked to him a few times for help and he was really good about helping me understand. Not an easy A obviously but super interesting and this guy is way chill, and I really like how his class is formatted. Would take from him again.
Brother Baker is hilarious, funny, and caring. He was always available to go through the material before class in his office. He is good at giving feedback, Material was very hard !! but his videos, and lectures helped a lot. Getting a group is also very important because teaching each other is essential to passing the class. overall great!
Teaches to the exam. Would occasionally leave out important material that would be on the test until close to the exam. Its important to do the reading so you dont miss anything thats not covered in class. Little extra credit. We spent lots of time on easier material and then not have time to cover the hard stuff. Great professor but could improve
Brother Baker is super good at explaining things until someone asks him to repeat it because then he tries to explain it more clearly but it ends up being way more confusing. He's still really good, and he's super accessible outside of class and willing to help you understand the content. Really good time management though which I appreciate a lot.
Bro Baker was so helpful and made sure to teach what was on the test. He told us fun tips to remember the information and always wanted to see us do well. He tried to know each of us personally and helped us each understand how the topics all tie together and how to think critically. He also will say "REMEMBER THIS" and that will be on the test.
Honestly my favorite teacher at BYUI. I have taken BIO 264, 265, and 381 from him. You have to remember that the classes he teaches are difficult. There is a lot you have to learn in such a short time but Bro Baker will help you succeed. He is great at working with you, answering questions, and letting you know what you need to focus on for exams.
At first, I was scared of him, but he's a nice guy. He likes to be ahead of the course timeline, so in order to understand the lectures, you have to be ahead in the reading. His lectures are very focused on what is on the exams, so you need to study on your own to understand. Go to tutoring, stay ahead, do extra credit, and you can succeed!!
Brother Baker is a super awesome guy, he is really smart and knows his stuff. However, he told me several times he was worried about me passing the class in front of other students, which was very discouraging and embarrassing. He goes through the material very quickly and expects you to know it immediately, he does review though which is helpful.
Bro. Baker was awesome! He was super funny and always had good anecdotes that helped me better understand the material. This class is designed to show you all the options you could enter after completing your degree, and Bro. Baker explained everything really well. During lectures he would often say "remember this because it will be on the quiz."
I loved brother baker's class. I took him for bio 265 and bio 381. The classes are not easy, but he does amazing reviews before the test that are super helpful. He also took the time to learn most everyone's name in the class and would always say hi to me outside of class! He made these very challenging courses fun to be in.
Brother Baker is really a caring guy. He is available if you need it but sometimes his advice is not helpful. If you are trying to decide between him and Shaw for Patho this is what I would say, Shaw is the better teacher but Baker gives more extra credit. We have almost 70 more points in the grade book than Shaw's class. Nice guy.
I have taken 3 classes from Brother Baker and I have to say that he is a pretty good teacher. He teaches off power points, which I really enjoy and makes a ton of dad jokes. His teaching style is fast paced, but that's almost every teacher here. He also has given tons of extra credit, at one point he just had us sign a paper and gave us 5 points.
Brother Baker is a great teacher! Very personable, and loves to talk to you after class/during office hours if you have questions. Gives extra credit throughout the semester. Pay attention in lecture. He teaches fast, but efficient, and will help you with tricks to remember things. He wants you to succeed, so work hard!
I took his class last semester and he was incredible. 10/10 recommend. He answers questions, takes time to know his students, and makes lectures entertaining and connects things. The first day he went very quickly to get us ahead so we could have a review day before the exam. His reviews always helped me excel on the exams!!
Highly recommend this class! Brother Baker is a fantastic teacher and always willing to help if needed. Class is set up one lecture and test a week, he tells you exactly what you need to know and they're pretty easy. It would be almost impossible to not pass this class with an A if you're putting in any effort!
Professor Baker is a caring and engaging instructor. His classes are challenging but he provides great study tips and extra credit. The lectures are fast-paced but worthwhile, and he's always available to help. I found Unstuck study and ChatGPT particularly useful for test prep.
Easily accessible outside of class. He will stick around after lecture to answer questions too. I was so confused on the material a couple days before exam 2 and he worked with me until I got it. Go to his office hours. My biggest suggestion for success would be to set up a study group and commit to meeting up a couple times weekly.
Amazing Prof. he gives you all the info you need to know and helps wherever he can.
Brother Baker is a great teacher—he's funny and explains things well. No complaints about him at all! That said, BIO 199 feels pretty pointless, but it's required for my major, so here I am. If you have to take it, at least you'll have a professor who makes it as enjoyable as possible.
Brother Baker is a fantastic teacher. He is a very chill guy and tells you what you need to know in class to pass the upcoming tests and exams. Personally I don't see a point to having this be a required class especially if you know what you want to go into, but it's not the teachers fault for the class being required. overall I'd recommend him!
He's super awesome and has helped me like super crazy throughout the semester & having a learning disability has made school quite challenging. But he's the teacher that you can tell cares to help you progress and develop in knowledge. Make sure you come fully studied with readings and anxious for learning you'll do well if you are ahead in studies
Bro. Baker is a seriously awesome teacher! He does a wonderful job giving you all of the information you need to pass.
Brother Baker is honestly such a great guy, and genuinely enjoys teaching. He teaches exactly what you need to know for the lecture tests, and honestly, if you take good notes and pay attention, you'll easily get an A.
Brother Baker did a very good job teaching this course. I had very few issues with him or the way the course is set up. My only gripe is the AI assignments and the lack of mock exams to help with preparation for the real exams. I got a ton of extra credit for simply attending class. He tells you pretty much what's going to be on each exam.
Bro Baker is awesome! He is so funny and very smart!! This guy knows his stuff. His lectures are super fast paced, but he tells you everything you need to know for the test (and skips the stuff you don't need to know). I would take some time to read the textbook too, but he does a really good job. I learned SO much in his class.
