She is really fun and tries to make class intresting. She shows video's and brings food. She is also extremely helpful and wants everyone in her class to get a good grade. I would DEFINETELY reccommend taking her class for english 115.

Fall 2005 is her first semester teaching Engl 115. She is the best teacher I have had so far here at BYU. She understands our feelings and relates to us as students. She brings funny movies, and treats on the day we have paper's due. She's funny and entertaining. Just make sure you do your work and you'll be sure to make a good grade!

As long as you show up and do your work, (which you will actually enjoy doing most of the time) you'll get a good grade. She may not be doing English 115 this semester, but take any of her classes if you get the opportunity!

This creative writing class really changed the way I express myself. Dr. Burton is really amazing-she is so open with things (definitely learned you need to be as a writer!) and the class becomes so comfortable with one another. It's a scary thing, to open yourself up to people, but Dr. Burton really makes it fun and worth it.

She is incredibly helpful. Show up to class and she will answer any questions you might have. It seems like she stayed late every day to give extra help. Even if it meant moving to the hallway for an hour when the next class showed up.

She is an awesome teacher! This class consisted of a quiz and lab each week but if you show up to class she will help you with both. She took the time to get to know us and was always willing to answer questions or help us outside of class. I would definitely take another class from her!

Pretty basic class. Homework is the entire class basically and it isn't difficult. If you're fairly familiar with Microsoft's Office programs, you'll be just fine. Assignments can be completed long before their due date, which is nice. Online videos and text helpful for guidance. MyEducator software is pretty straightforward. No-stress class.

If you know Excel then this will be a breeze. She basically tells you during the first class you don't need to go to class to do well. I went to the class once and got 100% on everything. Extremely easy class.

Professor Burton is SO helpful. I have never rated a professor before but I decided to rate Professor Burton because she will do anything to help. I mean each class period she would help us with the assignments and then stay up to an hour after class helping out more. Super helpful!

Prof. Burton is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Her class is extremely useful and you learn a lot about business writing. There are lots of papers required by the department, but Prof. Burton is understanding and cuts out unnecessary work. She grades papers hard and the class is competitive, but she's the absolute best to take it from!

Easiest class ever. I went the first day just to get the basic information and didn't go for the rest of the semester. If you go to class you have extra credit opportunities but the assignments are so easy that the extra credit is pointless. The assignments can be turned in twice so even if you miss a few the first time you can go back and fix it

All assignments are on a site called MyEducator. Can be submitted twice. Says to come to class if you need help or want extra credit. You can do the homework whenever you want as well as the final and midterm. Really easy, basic stuff. Can help you decide if it's something you want to pursue.

Great teacher! She walks through all of the homework assignments in class. She is hilarious and is more than willing to help all those who need it! I actually switched over to a CS major partly due to her teaching! Go Lara!

Honestly, I probably didn't need to go to class to get an A in this class, but it was just too entertaining not to. She goes through every homework assignment in class, and you can just refer back to those for the 2 tests. Easiest A I've ever gotten, and I got some good laughs out of it too.

Burton's one of the funniest professors at BYU. She grades tough, but she makes an otherwise dull subject like Business Writing worth attending class. She cancels worthless assignments and was really useful in preparing for the hellish grammar exam. Follow her on instagram. If you love Llamas, Badgers or Sloths, you'll love her class.

One of my favorite teachers. She realizes that students have lives, so she eliminated papers not required by the department. She was accessible, willing to give feedback on papers before due dates, and fun to learn from. Grading is tough, but if you ask her for help, she'll give it. I still hate English courses, but she made the class enjoyable.

IS110 was a breeze, its a 1 credit pre-req for the business school, and it might be the easiest class on campus. Dr. Burton would go through our assignments in class, and I had them done with maybe 30 minutes of work a week. Easy A, even if you skip all semester.

Class is super easy. Show up and she does the homework for you, which is fine, you still learn cuz it's super simple stuff. She really loves cats! Oh and she throws candy for participation

Lara is the coolest BYU professor ever. She really cares about her students, she has a cool obsession with typewriters, and she brings food to class on occasion. Her class is easy but if you want to be a better writer she will challenge you and work with you until you are both satisfied. Loved her class!

I was not stoked to take MCOM. Lara Burton is EASILY the best MCOM professor out there. Waiting list was 60 deep. She helps you with all your assignments so you actually become a better writer, not just better at getting good grades. She'll help out of class. TODAY, SHE BROUGHT TACOS FOR THE WHOLE CLASS. She's hilarious, down to earth, & smart.

She's a real gem. Sit in the front and answer questions and you'll get tons of snacks!

The class itself is insanely difficult, but Professor Burton makes each class meaningful and helpful so that, with a bit of work on your part, you can get a solid grade. I left the class being able to write so much more professionally and understand common mistakes made in the Business Writing world. Also, she is hilarious and just a great person.

Only ever used the textbook when taking the open-note midterm. If you go to class she does the homework right there for you. She's really quirky, but has an entertaining sense of humor that keeps you from going crazy when looking at a spreadsheet. You'd have to try to not get an A in this class

I took IS110 from her and this is seriously the easiest class at BYU. She gives you tons of opportunities for extra credit, and she goes through the assignments with you so that you get 100% on all of them. The midterm and the final aren't too bad, as long as you know how to do the assignments. Easy A.

She does want you to succeed. She is a great editor of students' writings. She tries her best to lessen the burden on students while meeting the MCOM department's requirements. She is specific on what she wants. I definitely progressed with business communications.

Honestly the funniest professor at BYU. I describe her as the professor Trewlaney of Hogwarts meets April from Parks and Rec because she has such a unique personality. The mutterings under her breath as she mocks her son, the ultra dry comments. Just too funny. I've never written a review before but I know she reads them so I had too.

By far the easiest class ive ever taken at BYU. Super usefull skills to learn for business. Gives tons of extra credit. I got 103% and probley put in 1 hour per week.

Lara is the best professor for this class. She makes taking the grammar test doable and will even review it with you afterwards, give you points back, and prep you for the retake if you choose to retake it. So yeah this class is a piece of cake, but having said that, it is crucial to really take the time to learn the material. I have friends who have done great in the class but not learned the material, and IS 201 was a lot more difficult than it should have been. Easy A though, and tons of extra credit. She does the homework in class.

She's a really awesome professor. She helps out a lot with the homework and makes sure everyone understands. She also went out of her way to have me meet with one of the professors that set up the homework when I had issues because of regional/language settings preventing me from submitting the assignments.

Easy class. You have a lot of time to do the assignments and there are lots of opportunity for TA help and extra credit. It's a lot of information and you will probably have to review outside of class to really learn the info. Definitely recommended if you want to do business. Every company is looking for someone who is "highly skilled" in Excel.

You'll get an A in this class no matter what. With that being said, try to actually learn what you are being taught because it will be a valuable tool in your future. You could probably get an A in this class without learning the content because she shows you how to do every question on the homework. Learn to do it on your own too for your own sake

So there is a $70 fee for the program you have to use, but you also don't have to go to class. Every week you have to submit an assignment and there are two main tests. I would suggest going to class because she literally DOES THE ASSIGNMENT FOR YOU and you get extra credit(and gives out candy). She's quirky, but I like it.

She is like a quirky-cat loving Aunt who enjoys throwing candy, random food, and toilet paper at you. She is hilarious, a genius, and the best! Attendance isn't mandatory, but come to class and she will do the assignment for you and give you EC too; plus, you can resubmit, but you have to do the Midterm and Final on your own and can't resubmit.

The easiest class I have taken in college- but also one of the most useful. You learn a lot of things about Excel (some are kinda stupid- but most are helpful), and she does a clear job at explaining them in lecture and on the online textbook, which you do not really need to use. Attend class for extra credit as well!

I went to class at beginning but then stopped because she does the assignment in class for you! So 100%. but the assignments are easy if you do the practice one after reading the lesson online. Lots of extra credit. Also download the midrerm/final at beginning and then do it as you learn each lesson so you don't have to go back and do it at once

Professor Burton is pretty funny and always is giving out food at her lectures. I do recommend that you go to the lectures because she will literally do the whole test for you. I didn't attend lecture until week 8 and I wish I would've gone sooner because she gives all the answers. IS110 is a joke but Burton is great!

Dr Burton is super nice, gives extra credit for coming to class, and is very reasonable. It is a one credit class, so it takes about an hour and a half a week including homework. She is so nice and funny and wants you to do well. If you try at all, you will do well.

My favorite teacher at BYU. She really cares that the class as a whole is actually learning the material, and will adjust curriculum accordingly. Prof. Burton is one of the most available and helpful professors I have ever had, and she puts effort into your success! I walk away from her class having learned real skills.

Dr. Burton is funny and I enjoyed going to this class as I felt like I was actually learning how to better use excel. I found out after the add/drop deadline that this class actually wasn't required for my minor, but I didn't mind sticking with it anyways because it was easy and I felt like I was learning a useful skill. Professor Burton is one teacher who has made an impact on me. While teaching concepts and going through lessons she also was extremely conscious of her students and things going on around campus. I loved her lectures and how much she truly cares about people! One of my favorite classes!

This class was not only a breeze, but super helpful for real life. Dr. Burton is so good at what she does. Once, my entire midterm got deleted and she was so helpful and did everything she could to restore it and help me start over. Truly a very caring and wonderful person.

However, I would warn that you not just "show up and get the A." The material in this class is so useful for life. Actually listen to what she is saying and remember it! It will help in your career.

The sweetest professor I have had at BYU. She goes through the assignments in class. Prof. Burton knows her stuff AND is good at teaching it! That makes her one of the best programming professors on campus! She is always asking us if the coursework is too much or too fast and will slow things down accordingly. Very caring and I learned a lot in her class. Wish she would teach javascript too! There is one assignment each week, a midterm, and a final exam. Professor Burton walks through the weekly assignment in class so you can get the answers correct. She also gives multiple extra credit assignments. This is a low stress class but I learned A TON.

Online assignments and tests, and then meet once a week to walk through the weekly assignments. Honestly the easiest class ever; if you put your mind to it, you could finish the entire class in 3 weeks (tests included) with an A. Just lots of videos to be aware of; MUST watch these to know what's going on.

Fantastic teacher for the subject. This class is super useful outside of class. Professor Burton has a dry humor and bluntness about her that is hilarious. This is a super easy A+.

Lara Burton is the best! In class she goes over the homework so you should get 100%. There are so many TA's available at all times who can even check your work when you're doing the tests. The tests are available from the start of the semester and you can work on them whenever. She cares more about her students than any professor I've had

There are extra credit quizzes every class. You can do the assignments on your own and then don't have to come to class, or you can come to class, and the hour is spent doing the assignment all together. It is very easy, but also interesting. Prof Burton is so kind, funny, and all around a great professor.

This was by far the easiest class Ive ever taken. Class time was used to review assignments and there were countless opportunities for extra credit and TAs Available 24/7. I only went to class a few times when I had questions and could complete assignments early if I chose. Shes a hilarious teacher who obviously cares about her students. 10/10

IS 110 is by far one of the easiest classes you could take. The first day in the lecture she said that several people had already finished the class. I ended up finishing the class just two months in and finished with 102%. The lectures were optional but going meant extra credit and her showing us how to do each assignment step-by-step.

Lara is honestly super great. It really is the basics of web development. Don't let the terminology or code scare you. It intimidated me initially. You can do it. She's more than reasonable, and a caring, thoughtful person. You have her and the TAs. Very accessible outside of class - chat with them on Slack! Google things. Just take it!

Professor Burton is my favorite professor that I've had at BYU so far. She makes learning Excel super entertaining and interesting and I learned so much! You can also tell that she genuinely cares about each of her students and wants the best for them. I wish I could take more classes from her!

This class is very simple. She understands that you have other classes. I took this class for the business school as well as for my calling and in terms of time spent to things learned is probably one of the best ratios that I have experienced

This class was an incredible experience. The professor was extremely relatable and made us feel so welcomed and understood. She always was putting herself in our shoes and was so empathetic to our current school situation. She is forgiving and willing to help us grow. She is also an incredible example and taught me so much.

Professor Burton is so cool. She's super funny, and IS110 is easily one of the most useful classes I've ever taken. I would recommend it to literally EVERYONE, no matter the major. It takes maybe an hour a week, and you get extra credit for showing up to class.

Honestly if you don't get an A, idk what you're doing. Easiest class there is-Like an hour or two of work a week. You still learn useful Excel skills though! You don't need to go to class but I did a few times just for a pick-me-up because she is HILARIOUS and cares so much! She treated me like an individual and gave great life advice.

Her class is so easy. She literally does the problems with you. The tests are just reruns of the problems and it's open book. Easiest 103% I've ever gotten. Only one credit which is light load.

A week before the semester started I had nothing to do. So, I emailed Prof. Burton asking if I could start the class early. She said I could, so I finished the entire course in a week. That's how easy it is.

Anyone who doesn't give her a 5 is crazy. This is such a great class and I actually LEARNED a ton of stuff about web development. Not only that, but prof Burton will literally do anything to help you learn and succeed. Anything. Such a great professor and honestly just such a great class. I loved taking her beginner Excel class. You can ask questions and she'll answer even if someone already asked. The classroom was very welcoming and the assignments were straightforward. Although the concepts were at times challenging, she an enthusiastic and a great professor.

Proff. Burton gives you the answers to the homework as long as you show up to class, and the exams are pretty much exactly the same as the homework. She offers lots of extra credit. Highly recommend.

Professor Burton was great. She is a sweet lady who has a sense of humor and tries to make the class entertaining. Besides the midterm and final, I did virtually no work for this class outside of attending the one class per week that there was. She goes over the entire assignment during class so as long as you show up every week, you'll get a 100.

Prof. Burton is fantastic. If you take this class, just go to all the lectures because she shows you how to do every assignment. There is so much opportunity for extra credit it is not even funny. I really struggled with excel before, but now I'm a master. Take this class, even if just for fun! This is the best professor ever.

I only went to one lecture and I did the rest of the course in my dorm. The course material is not bad at all and it is very manageable. Would recommend!

Professor Burton is a "crazy cat lady" but in a very hilarious way. 10/10 would recommend. Class is very easy, attendance is NOT mandatory, easy to reach outside of class, lots of jokes, tons of extra credit. She uses "My Educator" for her class, and a Slack channel in which she sends out tons of information for each module. She truly is an angel.

She was so fun and I really enjoyed this class! She made learning easy and made me want to pay attention. Even though attendance is optional, I strongly encourage going to class! It's fun, you learn new things, and you get extra credit. She is very kind!

This professor is amazing. She is very caring. Makes class something to enjoy. Helps you with all your problems. She does the assignments with you in class. If you are taking any class with any professor, it has to be this one. It is 1 credit also, so it is very manageable if you have a tight schedule.

Lara was helpful when needed, but that wasn't very often. The assignments are helpful and the criteria to get a 100% was very clear. A very valuable class with a small amount of work.

This class was really good. The my educator did a good job of teaching every unit, and Prof let us redo each test once so we could see what we missed the first time. If you go to class, she offers extra credit. I only went on the first day and still have a great grade. So grateful that this class was doable and taught me a lot!

All I'd add to the great things said about Professor Burton is that there's no need to attend class! There are clear, concise online videos walking you through the content and a test every week. The only frustrating thing is the tests (designed by the textbook) sometimes expect you to use features in a way that wasn't shown in the videos.

I really enjoyed her class! She works on the assignments with you in class, and she makes it fun with cats!! I looked forward to hearing her perspective each week. I definitely learned a ton about how to use excel and Professor Burton was a huge part of that!

This was an in-person course but I love the way Professor Burton set it up to be online. I had a busy schedule this semester and chose to work on the course on my own from home and didn't have to go to class at all. I worked my way through the MyEducator course which is 10 chapters. Plenty of extra cred and one midterm and final that are super easy

This class is easy, and I still learned :) I only went to class once and I got a 99%. They set up this class so it's really hard to fail. You could finish the whole class in a week or two if you wanted. And Professor Burton is SO funny and nice. Any class with her is bound to be great!

Fun class, but one that is entirely up to your creativity and effort to get something out of it. It's not a required class so prof. burtons philosophy is that you are there to learn. With that, it is super easy to get an A by meeting minimum requirements, but if you really want to get something out of the class you have to explore by yourself.

Lara has been one of my favorite professors at BYU. Her main focus is learning, which I appreciate being such a beginner in IS. She helped me outside of class and responded to my emails within the day with super helpful feedback. She made class chill, and I appreciated this because I was able to not be stressed and stil learn. Take her classes!

Easy class. Attendance isn't mandatory and the weekly assignments are pretty straightforward. One midterm and one final. This is what a 1 credit class should look like. Additionally, there are lots of extra credit opportunities, so there's no reason that you shouldn't get an A.

If you show up to class, she walks through every assignment and the only work you have to do outside of that is the midterm and final. Professor Burton is amazing! She is super kind and caring and she goes over how to do the assignments in class. This class was amazing. I had never used excel before and I got over 100%. The assignments take about an hour a week and then she helps you on the test in class. There is a lot of TA's that are always willing to help. You do not need to come to class if you understand all the material yourself but there is extra credit quizzes if you do.

Professor Burton is Incredible!!! She acknowledges this class isn't for IS majors and makes it so so easy. Just attend 1 hr of class each week and follow along with the lecture and you'll get an A. her TA's are also accessible.

This class was hard for a 1 credit class, but it wasn't her fault it was so hard. (University has hard requirements.) She loves every one of her students and explains confusing homework material at the beginning of every lecture. Greatly appreciated, because I'm a tech dummy. You can tell if she's stressed cuz she gets giggly, and it's so funny!

Easy 1 credit class, Professor Burton is hilarious and her lectures are great! She understands that this class isn't meant to be hard, so she really makes it easy. You either go to class for 1 hr per week and do the assignment with her, or you watch videos and do it on your own and get ahead and finish the class early. Great class, nice and easy.

I love Professor Burton! She was a firm believer that who we are is much more important than our excel skills. She did teach us the information for the class but she also made sure that we were all uplifting each other and being the best people we could be. She genuinely loved every one of her 500+ students. Plus she brought me gummy nerd clusters.

Professor Burton truly cares about her students and ensures this course is as easy as it can possibly be. She is the best! You never have to show up to class, but there is extra credit available every time you do go.

GRIND out the 10 assignments and get it done. don't go to class. never went once +I'm dumb 3. finish before the add/drop deadline is over so you are done wish I did this.lots to do but so easy. I bet you could grind it out in 1-3 days, including the midterm/final (don't need to wait)JUST DO IT OK

I loved Prof. Burton. She is so funny and nice. This class was super easy. She walked through the assignments in class but attendance is not mandatory and you could have treated it like an online class. I only went to class one time to get extra credit. It's all online. I am not sure how good of a teacher she is in other subjects because this class was just too easy to teach wrong or hard. Definitely recommend finishing the class early as you can go ahead. You also get multiple chances on assignments and exams!

This class was super easy. If you have a good knowledge of Excel before taking IS110, you can finish the class in 2 weeks if not sooner. If you're new to Excel, the course material explains the content well and includes videos. I never went to a single class and finished the course in 2 weeks with a 100%.
