Langdon was awesome! I did well in her class considering it was a summer course and it moved faster. She is really good about making sure you understand everything and tries really hard to give you at least partial credit on any test question. Oh and the quizes are easy..open note and open book..Its like a final grade booster. Take Her Class!!!
She is very easy going, very clear in notes taking time, very helpful, take her class. yes it is tru tht open notes quizes! :) yaay! n she's very nice as well. n yah need to attend all classes to pass the tests because u will need to study the notes before test.
I didn't go to class for the 2nd half of the semester, and still got a B. She goes slow so everyone will keep up, but at points I was so bored and found it easier to teach myself out of the book at home. She allowed open book tests towards the end, mostly due to falling behind the syllabus and trying to keep up. She's very nice, but I was BORED.
she goes too fast you have to study hard in her class for the exams
there are 3 exams and u have to do well on all otherwise u will not be able to pass. there are open notes quizzes, but not as often. you have to study everything for the exam and reviews are not helpful because its overview of chapters only. not details of some sample questions
She is a part time professor and does not really have office hours. even when you have partial right answers on tests and quizzes she will take whole lots of points off. during class she goes too fast on lectures and there is lots of hw- she does not check. class is usually boring..not interactive.
goes too fast. she is part time and the concepts are hard to understand. there are 3 exams and final is comprehensive. u have to study alot for this class. the reviews are not helpful since she goes over more concepts on review days not reviewing.
she is ok..if u r good at math u can take her..but if u are slow..then take someone else
great..easy going and explains stuff in class..yeh do ur homework and u will do well. and attendance is important so show up because the lectures are part of the exam..take her
Ms. Langdon is so sweet & really cares about helping her students succeed. Her style of teaching works well for me. Attendance is mandatory, but only if you want to do well. 3 tests & final exam. Definately recommended!
Very nice lady. Seems kinda frantic at times. Class wasn't to hard. Do the homework that she assigns and go to each and every class, and you'll do fine. She helps you out as best as she could.
Very nice lady. Sometimes disorganized. She knows math well, but can't teach it very well. But she makes up for this by grading really easy. Even if you totally fail, she will still give you points for trying. I barely even tried and I got a C. You can prob do very well with her. Prob won't take her again, but depends on who the other choice is.
Excellent professor. Very interesting and engaging. Wants students to succeed. Tests are easy but homework is graded and must be complete.
Her teaching is very clear and easy to understand. Remember to take notes, they're helpful. Love her, took her this and 271 and would love to take 242 but she didn't schedule up for it yet. :( Must do HW for graded and quizes base on them. Final exam is open book. Overall, fair grader and knows what she's doing.
If your good at math take her. However, if math is not ur strong subject don't take her. she puts the problem on the board, and skip steps assuming u already know.
I didn't enjoy her class, because she assume you know what she is talking about. If your good at math take other wise, don't take her.
She's very nice, however, I can see how if you're not very good at math this class would be very hard for you. She goes through things very fast and basically just does the problems at her speed. If you like class participation (working through the problem together, answering questions about the steps to test yourself) you won't like this class.
she ok didnt really understand her teach and she goes too fast
She is a very nice teacher. She teaches really fast and Math 151 is really a review of everything you learned in High School. try not to miss any class because you might miss important information
She is not the person you want to take if you barely passed math placement test or have not had math in awhile. sometimes she is all over the board. She does try to make herself available if you need assistance but it would be good to get a tutor. She needs to slow down and do a better job at explaining answers. If your not a math whiz. Avoid her.
I truly really like Lara. She does really like notes and she does do hw checks every once in a while :( besides thhat great teacher
Great professor. Very helpful outside of class and explains the notes well. Homework checks and quizzes at least every other week. As long as you pay attention and do the homework should be an easy A.
Calculus is a hard class, but Prof Langdon makes it manageable. She's a great teacher and grades to benefit students (gives partial credit and curves on tests). The class moves fast, but she does her best to prevent students from falling behind. Questions from the tests and on the midterm. If you're good at math, I'd recommend her!
Awesome Teacher.Extremely sweet & helpful.Previously used to hate math, but after taking Math 163 with Ms Lara, i have started enjoying the subject. Will definitely take her next semester for MTH 271. pay attention to her lectures in class and do the hw the class will be an easy A.Highly recommend her, especially if you are an international student.
This class is pretty hard just the way its set up the only thing that really helps is the homework and the quiz's so do well on those.
Nice professor. She really took time in class to explain, and made sure we knew how to do problems on the TI calculator. There was quite a bit of work, but she explained well, and tests were not difficult if you did the homework. I got an A.
She goes fast, but you have to realize that there's A LOT of material. Before lecturing, she answers as many homework questions as possible.Very respectful. Her class isn't FUN. She's not one of those teachers that captivates your attention. During tests, make sure you don't waste too much time on 1 problem bc they're LONG, but she always curves...
The absolute worse class I have ever taken in my years of schooling. She teaches all over the board, she makes mistakes, she seems to talk to herself once in a while, half my class dropped the class and a few others failed. Unless you previously know Pre-Cal, don't take it otherwise you'll be dropping it or failing it.
Very smart and good at math but she does not know how to teach it. Most of the class will be spent reviewing homework and the rest will be spent taking a brief look at some new material before you are assigned 3 pages of homework. If you do take this class, be prepared to take a large amount of tutoring on your own time.
I am surprised by the number of negative comments. I think people dont realize that this is college and the semester is 5-6 month and not a year long like HS. This class has lots of material to be covered and no time. But the teacher is pretty good and it is coming from a person who sucks at math. She teaches the that I am comfortable with.
Awful teacher. has to grade on a curve because all of her tests are too long for the class period. More than half of the students every test don't finish the tests. Does not collect enough homework for points. Messes up a lot while teaching and students need to correct her work. Take anyone else. Final semester student with 3.9 GPA.
She is a good professor overall. This class is hard regardless, but she explains things very well and is more than happy to help students during her office hours. Just make sure to put in the effort if you want a good grade. Only thing that throws students off is she goes very fast during her lectures, but she is willing to help you understand!
Professor Langdons class was pretty challenging. Had to study constantly to keep up. The pace at which she teaches makes it much more difficult. All homework is from the book and so are her notes. she helps during office hours. 4 tests a couple of partner quizzes and a cumulative final. she lets you bring a note card with calculations.
Professor Langdons Stats 1 class is a bit challenging. a lot of info to go over. book is necessary but search the title online and you have it for free. 3 tests. each test covers 3 chapters at a time. homework is collected at random. the final is cumulative. not the easiest course but it does prepare you well if you plan on taking stats 2
I though she was excellent. There was a lot to cover so she does move fast. But she explains everything thoroughly. Tests are fair. You must do homework to succeed in math even though she does not always collect it. Gave extra credit and easy quizzes done with a partner to compare answers. I definitely recommend taking her!
While very knowledgeable, Langdon is not a very good teacher. Class consists mainly of a long review of (randomly graded) homework, then maybe a pop quiz, then assigning new homework. With little to no coverage of new material, you basically learn from the book. She seldom has time to tutor and grades extremely harsh. I withdrew from her class.
Prof Langdon takes any questions you have step-by-step and makes sure that you understand the concept by the end of the class. She really cares about her students passing and will encourage you to ask questions and go to the math lab for extra help. Her tests are sort of difficult but if you do the homework you should not have a problem.
*I'd recommend her if you're Good at math & she's Okay to take otherwise* CLASS HAD: -4 tests (generous curves were given if you made mistakes) -4 or 5 quizzes (randomly) -Collected homework (randomly) My comments: -Participation not Mandatory -Laid back if you know your math -Basic calculus -Final Exam counts twice, replaces a bad test grade
Attendance is key. Ask questions. Overall a great experience and professor. She explains each step of the equation from start to finish. Stays on tasks and on schedule. Homework is a must to stay ahead in the class. Grades on a curve and drops lowest quiz grade. Your final(If better) will substitute your lowest test grade. Highly Recommend!
Statistics is a difficult subject at first, no matter who your professor is. Langdon does an awesome job explaining the material and is patient and open to many questions. Very straight forward course, tests are a little difficult, but she tries her hardest to help you understand. I would take her again if I needed more math credits. Im premed.
I had her for 271 and 163. I passed 163 with a B grade because the class wasn't that hard, her class is tough if you won't work hard for it. is very thought class, and she goes really fast when she teaches, I did regretted taking her again. If your not fast learner she is not good for you!!!! I failed math for the first time in my life bc of her.
Her tests are the worst. When every answer has a remainder or fraction you tend to doubt yourself and end up doing poorly. Rushes through everything. Has Pop Quizzes. MATH tutor help for half your students means your not doing a good job teaching. do not take UNLESS you are pursuing calculus-filled job (engineer, scientists, econmists)
Easy math class. I took Pre-calc in high school and struggled, but she makes it really easy. She does go at a fast pace because she has to in order to cover the material. If you do the homework and keep up with it the tests are easy. Announces when she's going to collect home and give pop quizzes. Extremely helpful if you ask for help.
WORST TEACHER EVER! NEVER HAVE I EVER GOTTEN AN F IN ANY CLASS UNTIL I CAME TO HER CLASS! Her help is ridiculous! She won't give you any time to learn and expects you to learn a chapter with two solutions on the board. If you're not a genius you won't pass. Worst teacher EVER!!
Good professor, but very hard class! She's nice and won't hesitate at all to help you. However, her lectures are long and move really fast which could make it overwhelming. You must attend class and take notes if you want to get a good grade. Tests require lots of studying. I got a B, but I had to put in A LOT of work. Hard class, but learned a lot
Took a 6 wk summer class. Prof. Langdon is a good teacher and makes calculus easy to understand. Assigns A LOT of homework tho (so you will use the textbook A LOT). There is a either a quiz on the homework at the beginning of class or she collects your homework. Spells out exactly what will be on the tests (there are 4, including the final).
Although Prof. Langdon is nice and helpful, her class is extremely vague and tough. The first half of class you go over homework, then speed through lecture and expected to learn rest from book (book sucks). You hardly retain anything. First time withdrawing( 8+ others did) from a class and mind you I got an 88 B in 166 :( DNT!, unless genius.
Professor wants you to already know everything prior to taking her class. Her lectures are too fast, she rushes through material but expects them to be 'muscle memory' after a week. Grades exams tough, takes off points for nearly everything, such as for not circling answers. Lots of homework that doesn't reflect what she taught you. Dropped. Avoid
Langdon took a tough subject and did her best to teach it. She will help you in any way she can if you ask, lots of essential homework. Tests are tough and not enough time is given and no extra time will be given unless you have proof of disability. Quizzes are easy. Overall, I hated this course, but enjoyed Langdon as she did her best.
Regardless of how hard you do in her class it's impossible to pass. I did everything from the beginning for her class never slacked always did all the assigned hw studied for hours every night but it was still not enough for me to get a good grade in her class. I recommend if you don't want to waste you money and time chose someone else.
Langdon was my MTT 4 professor in Summer class. The class was 12 weeks long. I've to go thru 7 chapters to get rid of MTT. I did it in first 6 weeks. She's a helpful professor. She make the problem so easy for you to understand. If you ask questions, put the effort you will earn your grade. I passed that MTT class with a B.
Very sweet person, but NOT a good professor. If you are good at math, you shouldn't have a problem. She goes VERY fast through EVERY lecture. Sometimes will do 4 sections in one lecture. The whole class averaged a 62 on one test, yet she didn't go back and review. The tests are insanely hard and the project is very difficult too.
SHE NEEDS TO SLOW DOWN. This professor goes through lectures way to quickly. In one class we did 3-4 sections within the hour and 15 minutes. She is very specific in what she is looking for on tests and quizzes and will take lots off if you dont have what she wants. A class average on a test was a 68 with a curve and she didnt think twice about it.
Nice woman, but so math-oriented its like she doesn't understand that some people don't understand math, or what she's talking about at all. Her final exam was 16 questions, and we had three hours to complete it... half the class didn't finish. Even when the entire class struggles, she doesn't go back to review. Sucks for you, pretty much.
Please donot take her. 70% chances are you will take the class again. She doesnot teach well. Foes too fast. Expects more than enough. Does not go over stuff that is on the test. Takes quiz on hw next day eben if people donot understand the information. Take some one else.
Professor Langdon is a great person and a scholar. The problem is that although she may know the information inside and out, her ability to teach it and be understanding that not everybody is a math major is well with-in question. I would definitely recommend taking the class online before taking her as a professor. Most of the class failed or W'd.
Really good in comparison to other professors of Math & Politics at GW, if you're gonna take anyone take her. the class was a breeze, easy material, minimal work but lots of easy grades and stupid easy grading scale (an 85% was an A-). She's just not really good at teaching and can be confusing but its an easy A and good for non-math majors
Fast paced, lecture heavy no study guides at all. Entire homework grade based on 10 random questions. Take if you know the material well and/or are a fast learner.
The professor is not the best at teaching the subject. She goes over examples the entire class and even gives out a couple exam questions here and there. If you are good at studying and teaching yourself math than you are guaranteed at least a B
Took her for precalculus and she's a good professor. Goes over the material before exams if you have any questions. Just know your algebra before starting this class and you're set.
shes a great professor! shes goes over the material really well, she always asks if we're all on the same page. The homework is a lot but it really does prepare you for the exams. shes straight forwards about everything your test will be fair and she goes over them with the class after she grades them. no question is off limits shes great!
This class is for you if you like structure and transparency. There are no surprises with professor Langdon. You have a clear syllabus and instructions from day one. She is very efficient and returns grades within one class period. She will help you become a better math student.
Do not take her, for the sake of your grade. She uses powerpoints that make no sense and her tests are hard. For my class she literally a 10 pt curve... what do you think that tells you
She is extremely polite, knowledgeable, helpful, wise and pleasant to be around. Plus, she is happy to go over what you got wrong on a test or a quiz and gives very useful information for you to improve on the next test or quiz. However, like BSK, MTT is a self-taught class. Therefore, you REALLY have to motivate yourself.
Knows the material pretty well. Not too hard of a class but she does go pretty fast. Also, she didn't put any grades in blackboard so I didn't really know what my grade was until I checked the final grade.
Never take this class! The professor is not helpful when it comes to asking questions. Even in office hours or one on one help she does the problem for you and expects you to understand. She had to put a ten point curve on every exam in order to improve her scores. Class lectures are not well structured and her power points are confusing.
she changes the due date on assignments constantly with no warning, so if you have a lot of things to do and schedule do to you're homework at certain times it's totally possible for her to just change where you were supposed to turn it into several days earlier.
If you have taken pre-calc before in high school this class will be pretty easy, but if it is your first time taking this course I would recommend another professor. In my opinion, her tests are pretty easy. Sometimes she gives back points for tiny mistakes you've made and notes it with "be careful". But she is homework heavy so beware.
Don't take this class, she does not know how to teach
Ms. Langdon is not very good about explaining the material step by step with how to complete the problem. There was a lot of mymathlab homework and tests were long. Be sure to read all of the chapters from the very start of the course.
She is thorough in her lecture and writes out EVERY single tedious step as opposed to doing some work in her head and ultimately skipping over steps like other instructors frequently do. Was not algebraically confident before taking her class. Visual teaching style. NO TEXTBOOK OR SCANTRONS. Please do yourself a favor and take this gem of a prof!
She does not do much in class besides go over homework examples and a few powerpoint slides. She does give much/any sympathy towards her students for personal issues going on. Can't just explain one question, she goes into four different hypothetical questions before even answering the question asked. Unless you can teach yourself dont take her.
if you love yourself and care about your mental health dont take her
Dont take her class in the summer everything was so crammed in. She goes through everything so fast.
Professor Langdon is incredible. Calculus was by far the hardest class I have ever taken, but taking the course with her was a great decision. She is very dedicated, spends an hour every class going over questions from HW and test reviews. I was scared to take this course online, but it almost was better as she uploads her lectures after class.
She's a tough grader, not very accomodating, and does not know how to teach. Her lectures are just her doing hw examples and not explaining further, she expects you to know how to do everything off of her one example and doesn't offer any other methods. I would email her about hw help and she would just say use the mathlab. 0/10
Math was my easiest class this semester due to the way Mrs. Langdon operates. In my class, I only had 4 tests, a final, and some homework to do (completion grade). The best part is that you get to print the tests and use Mathway to get easy A's on them. You also have around 24 hours to finish the test and email it to her. This is an easy A class.
She does not explain problems in a way you'd understand especially if math is your weaker subject. She's short to the point and seems to get frustrated when you ask a question. She request work to be shown in order to get credit.
Excellent professor, make sure you're on top of your work each week. Her online course is perfect for busy adults. She records her lectures so you can review it at your convenience. There are lots of quizzes and homework problems. Test questions taken from the homework and quiz problems. She explains stat concepts well. Highly recommend her class!
For fall 2020, her class was EXTREMELY convenient. She doesn't require attendance and posts her lectures online... SO IN SHORT if you do bad it's really because you don't show up to class or pay attention/try. She's an easy A and the online program we used was handy(which you have to pay for)
Great Professor! Tests and quizzes are printed, scanned, and submitted by the end of the day. Chapter HW is due by before Test dates. Attendance isn't really mandatory so overall the class is really flexible. She drops your lowest quiz grade and replaces your lowest test grade with your final exam grade if its higher. 100000/10
I did not like how this professor taught. If math is your weak subject like me, then good luck. I asked questions a lot because I needed help, and she would make me feel bad for asking for help. If the questions was an easier question, she would make you feel bad for asking it. very stressful.
Prof. Langdon is a good teacher but not an easy one. I worked my butt off and barely passed with an A. All hw, quizzes, and tests are printed out and scanned in. No online system or lockdown. Get ready to work hard there is loads of hw which needs to be done because she spends a lot of time going over it in class. Put in the work and you will pass.
Yoo Karen here is the worst teacher ever she would give a lot of homework and they will be due the next date I had her TuTh and when she give HW on Tu they will be due Th at 1240pm not only that but then after you do the all HW she will tell us whether to submit the HW or she will have a quiz that due 10min after class If you want her get ready
I took this prof, in summer. She is the worst prof in NVCC. if you really want to waste your money don't take her. Her homework's are too long and have to be done in one day. and after giving grades she didn't mention anything what's wrong in our quiz or homework. Her behavior is also awful when its comes to ask any questions. Beware of her!!!
Unless you are already well off in mathematics I would look somewhere else than taking her class. Nice lady but the lack of transparency and engagement with students results in lots of students dropping her class within the first week. If you want an easy or doable "A" DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
She is very particular about her grading, taking lots of points off for not rounding correctly or wrong units. However, she is also unequivocal about how she wants assignments, and if not done her way, either it is -10 or a 0. I took this class over the summer, which allowed me to focus on it and get an A. I would not take this class with anything.
Amazing teacher who knows her stuff and teaches in a way that is easy to understand and great. I took a 6 week course and even though we had a lot of homework it was all doable and she made it really easy and fun to do math.
Took this professor for they were my only option. Every class there were a hundred questions due for homework and of the hundred she would pick 5 to grade for your hw grade. Every other week there was an exam that we had an hour and a half for. I was never able to fully complete a single test. She seemed to get very aggravated when asked questions.
All these reviews make her seem really bad but honestly, she's not. Do the homework before the next class although it's not due till exam day, don't let it pile up. It'll make more sense cause then you can ask questions. She's really nice and she even curves the exam grades a little. Use the E-text videos, they're super helpful.
The way this professor teaches is not how it should be done. She would throw in new material without explaining what it is and expects us to just know, and teaches too fast
I would not recommend this professor unless you have already taken this course knowledge and have a good grasp on the subject matter. When my classmates and I asked questions, she'd usually suggest we go to the tutoring center instead of look for an explanation on Youtube. Over half the class quit in the last few weeks, and only 2 students passed.
She was a great teacher in my opinion. She was nice and very respectable. She knew the math very well and lectures were clear and organized. There is a lot of homework, but that is in your benefit, it only increases your confidence for tests.
She knows her math really well, that was never a question. I went every single class, and took notes as best as I could, but when it came time to do homework I felt she didn't go over a lot of the stuff we would see on the homework. If you have the gist of calc beforehand she may be good, but I had a really hard time in her class.
The course is intermediate imo. Professor did a good job teaching lectures and showed examples, she would start off on easy problems and eventually progress to intermediate and hard problems. Its important to pay attention as the problems on the powerpoint slides are similar to the problems on the homework. Homework problems are from the textbook.
The worse teacher I've EVER had. All she did was read from a Powerpoint like a robot and gave no help to struggling students. Don't have any unexpected family emergencies because she does NOT care. She reads off of a powerpoint and assigns an unnecessary amount of homework as well as tests/quizzes with no actual teaching and prep beforehand.
I took this class the fall semester of 2022. In order to complete this class, you had to use a tool called ALEKs. Professor Langdon taught the lessons using powerpoint slides, which are provided in the canvas for reference. She is very helpful if you have any questions. The tests are based on the ALEKs, so complete the ALEKs and you'll pass.
All tests were on paper in class, and points were easily taken off if every step was not shown. Had online ALEKS assignments every week, which took a lot of time and effort. It's really hard to bs your way through the class.
I am certain than any bad reviews of Prof. Langdon are more 'content of the course' related rather than a fair review of her. Sure, she's not the most personable but she make it as easy as she can, especially since she responds to emails and concerns in a heartbeat. I hate math, I'm glad I don't have to take it again but if I did, I'd take her.
First time taking calculus the course did feel a little fast, we were learning new material up until two days before the final. The class is incredibly fair. I admittedly struggled a bit but the final as a replacement exam saved me. Prof. Langdon doesn't come off as the most open Professor but if you talk to her she is incredibly kind and helpful.
Great professor, attendance isn't mandatory but skipping any math class isn't the best idea. The amount of homework assigned is manageable, and if you do all of the homework, pay attention to the lectures, and take notes you'll get a good grade. Put in effort and you'll get an A.
Great prof also took her for 161. There's hw assigned after every class and its usually a decent amount of hw that can take anywhere from 20 min to 2 hours to do, depending on how many prblms are assigned and the difficulty of the unit. Some of the material did get hard at times, but if u do the hw and avoid missing class you'll get a good grade
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS TEACHER IF YOU WANT TO LEARN AND PASS CALCULUS.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER!
Homework takes hours and you have to teach yourself everything.
Test questions are not relatable to the textbox. It makes class 10x more difficult when you have to teach yourself everything.
I had to drop this class because she didn't teach well and if you already struggle with math, beware because you will probably have to teach yourself after each class. Also lots of homework after each class.
Far from bad, but could easily get swept away in lectures and not teach properly at times- albeit rather uncommon. TONS of homework which could become way too time consuming at times, even if it did help with learning the material. Was reasonable with grading criteria, with heavy course emphasis on the few tests.
Everything she did was very straight forward and easy to understand. She explained the material clearly and had clear examples which were similar to those on homework and tests. Also, every class she went over HW from the previous class and any questions. Overall I found her course easy, and I would recommend her.
Terrible professor, she will dock points for not showing 100+25 on scratch paper and this isn't a joke, offered 0 extra credit opporunities her reasoning was "theres so much to do for it so no" also even through the class was 2 hours she was adamant on wasting 30 minutes and rushing us PLEASE take anyone else she doesn't know how to teach.
This is by far the worst professor you could choose for this class. She isn't very good at teaching and just assigns a bunch of ALEKS homework (which is extremely tedious and long) every week expecting you to learn from it. There's also 3 tests for the entire semester and each one is 60% of your grade. You will end up having to teach yourself.
im still in this class and let me tell you by the way things are looking, I am probably going to fail. As other said its LOTS OF HOMEWORK IM TALKING ABOUT 40 MODULES DUE IN TWO WEEKS. What makes it hard is that she doesn't teach whats on the aleks . She assigns the aleks then teaches it so it leaves no room to fully comprehend the topics. DONT DO !
her class is reasonable... if its the only class you're taking. its simply too much for the average full-time student. if youre doing less than 12 credits then i think her class is manageable. otherwise you're better off with a professor who is a bit more empathetic towards students' time.
Had her for Stats I, very fair professor. Responds to emails quickly, has a lot of office hours, helpful lectures. Homework was useless and time-consuming but quizzes were all take home and reflect the exams. Seriously, study the quizzes. It's a straightforward class to do well in but you will need to put in a good amount of work outside of class.
Mrs. Langdon was a good professor. The only problem I had when attending her class was that she goes a little faster than usual. Mrs.Langdon was also very flexible outside of class, so you had many opportunities to go see her throughout the semester. My suggestion to anyone who has to take this class next semester is complete most of your Aleks.
The material can get tricky, but if you stay on top of the homework and utilize resources like Unstuck AI, you'll do well. Prof. Langdon explains concepts clearly and is happy to address any questions.
The problem-solving methods on ALEKS differ from her teaching, making it frustrating to understand the material. I relied on YouTube and AI for help, otherwise would have not passed. Her lectures are her reading from PowerPoint. Her take-home quizzes are somewhat helpful, she deducts points for not showing every step, which is understandable.
Ms.L is a kind teacher but unfortunately not a good teacher. she rushes her classes and does not give good feedback on assignments.she is very homework and test heavy but gives little to no time to prepare for either.cannot explain simple math clearly.she skips over certain steps bc she will claim its "common knowledge".rushes student questions.
Langdon teaches content very well, her lectures allowed me to understand calculus better. Four tests (including midterm and final). The final can replace your lowest score. Once or twice a chapter, she'll either have a hw check or a take-home quiz. The exams are not super difficult if you attend the lectures. She answers anyone's questions.
This was by far the worst professor I have ever had. She thinks that we already know calculus and skips a lot of steps while trying to “teach” but she's not actually teaching us anything. She flys through practice problems like we have already taken the class before. If there are any other professors available I would highly recommend choosing them
I'm an honors graduate and "math person" but struggled immensely in her class Nearly failed 161/261 with her but switched to Haja Razafinjatovo and got an A The 161 HW is the most i've ever had and tests are hard After 161 I told her I look forward to doing better in 261 she said "students usually do as good or worse in the proceeding class" NO
You probably got an 'A' with Haja because he's an easy 'A' professor, but that may mean you are not fully prepared for the next math course. I had a similar experience after taking Haja, I struggled in calculus. Later, I took precalculus with Lara and felt much better prepared.
To preface, all math classes are going to be HW heavy because nearly all of them use ALEKS, it has nothing to do with the professor teaching the class. That being said, I found Professor Langdon to be an excellent pre-calc teacher. She was always open to questions and never made you feel dumb for asking them. Gave lots of partial credit on tests
One of the worst professors to ever exist she is just horrible and unforgiving
Unfortunately, my experience with this professor was not good. She does not explain the lessons clearly and does not offer any opportunities to improve grades. She also gives the impression that she does not care about her students or their progress. Her exams are very difficult, and I would not recommend taking any classes with her in the future.
Originally had prof Haja, but he left mid semester and got prof Langdon. She goes through slides and does more practice work. When it comes to tests, she is a harsh grader and her exams are more difficult. Docks a lot of points for small mistakes and not showing EVERY step, including 1+1. Provides review guides w answers but no steps.
Professor Langdon was an amazing professor when I took her for stats 245. Mrs. Langdon is very clear on what she expects in her courses and gives each of her students a syllabus to know what to expect throughout the semester. Also homework is very minimal and the tests are easy if you study from the quizzes. There is also a stats project- gpa boost
