had her last semester or 2 ago. open book open note exams, u just have to figure out which test to apply to given data. it was pretty easy, proly one of the easier stat classes.
She's very motivated. She helps you out when you need help. Just study for her tests, then you'll be fine. Half of it is open book, so don't trip too much.
all tests are open book except for the final... she's cool..she really tries to help u understand the material...
Emphasize on applications & theories. Read & study the concepts thoroughly in order to do well in her class. Good note taking is essential because her exams are based on her lectures. She's highly motivated & willing to help.
We had a quiz or exam every Monday, with the possiblity of having a CogLab assignment due as well. She lectured very fast and unwilling to slow down. She's not very helpfull at all. She has 10 quizzes based, 10 CLabs, 3 exams, & 1 comprehen essay final
Fast talker. of you read and take good notes you will do ok. Final is not hard.
She was a good math teacher... the open note tests were great... I can't do math to save my life, and I passed her course. Just take notes and try to pay attention. She really wants you to pass... so ask for help if you need it.
Dr. Huntsman will bend over backwards to help you, and she cares about what happens to you in the end. If you get stuck go to her office hours. She's very helpful and she will go over your work with you. Also, her work book is very good, and it's cheap
I took Statistics in High School, but the teacher was so bad that I didn't get anything out of it. I'm glad I took Dr. Huntsman, because she was very clear and organize all the way through. I was able to get a hold of her whenever I needed help as well.
Dr.Hunstman is a very good professor, who expresses great concern for her students. Her classes are hard though... you must study! But, that's what we're in school for, right? Good teacher.
Dr. Huntsman is always willing to help you if you are struggling in one of her classes. She is clear in her expectations, and if you are not sure, she will take the time to explain it during her office hours.
I took cognition with her in the Fall of 2003. Her lectures are good and interesting. When she teaches she gets right to the point and doesn't waste time. She is well prepared. She might not be the easiest teacher but she's always helpful and accessible.
She is a very helpful and effective professor. Makes sure students understand material clearly before moving on to the next topic. Exams are easy if you do your homework.
One of the best profs. I've had. She collects a lot of information for her grades, which are very fair, and while the course is easy, you still learn a lot.
Great teacher. Very helpful and very clear about her expectations. There are no suprises on the tests. highly reccommended
I took stat 95 in spring 2004 and she was one of the best profs I' ever had. I hate math and walked in with a bad impression but she wants you to pass. OPEN NOTE/BOOK TESTS!!
Clear lecturer; knows what she's talking about. Her class isn't that hard if you keep up, and the workload is pretty light spread out that way. Otherwise, you can cram for her tests and be fine. Makes you stay after tests for points.
i did not like her as a teacher at all.
she's very clear with her lecture as long as you do the homework, you'll do fine..she wants everybody to pass so she really explain things clearly. OPEN NOTE TESTS
wonderful teacher! i am horrible at math (took adv algebra 3 times!) and this is the first time i really understand it and am interested in the material. she is very thorough about explaining things and is completely honest. open note/book tests! a+ for her. i am taking her cognition class next semester.
She is easy - you know exactly what to expect on your 2 midterms and final. The assignment you have is worth 25% of your grade-it is CR/NO CR. As long as you do it, you get your 100 pts for that assignment and 25% of your grade. What is NOT easy is if you have questions. She is RUDE if you go to her office hours. Kinda ****y. Not nice, but easy.
she teaches class like you were in elementary school which is fun at first but then it just gets plain annoying. you ace the first midterm and lag a little then fail the second one which means you probably wont do well on the final. she never gives any tests back and is very rude when you ask for help. take her only if you know you wont slack off!!
Great professor! I also hear students complaining that they failed her class, but the only way to do so is not doing homework. Come on, her midterms are based on homework. Exactly the same problems, with a few nunmber changes. Highly recommended.
In five (5) words or less, "Do Homework & Go To Class!" Ok six (6) words. She spends patient time answering Homework questions in class. Homework and class notes are almost verbatum what is represented on the exams. 1St exam is easy to start you off on the right foot, and the rest are steadily harder. However, they are open note, open book!
She spends time answering questions on homework during class. The Exams are Verbatim of the homework and in class discussions. She is an Awesome Professor altogether!
Dr.Huntsman was awesome and is always on top! Anytime I ever had problems and asked for help, she made it easy for me to get back on track. When e-mailing her she makes sure she responds quickly, so much that once she responded literally 2 minutes after I had emailed her. She stays on point with her lectures, and I'll definitely take her again!
She is a really good professor and she is funny. Go to her lectures and takes notes if you want to pass her class. You don't need to really buy the textbook. We never used it, all you need is the workbook. Her tests are easy, they are open book and open notes. She doesn't grade homework, but do it because the questions are similar to the tests.
do the homework and ask for her help if you need it and you'll ace the class......she's very clear about what she says and completely willing to help anyone......

The class starts off pretty easy and then starts to pick up quickly. Basically make sure you do the reading and your assigned hw. By doing that you give yourself a better change in passing the class. (There are 2 midterms *always part A and B on 2 different days* and one final). Overall the class wasn't that bad. It's also easier to have a study buddy in that class too.

WOW, and I thought Math could NEVER be fun. Huntsman is what EVERY MATH TEACHER SHOULD ASPIRE TO BE. She makes me ENJOY math! Superb teacher!!
SWEET LADY. BUT SHE LEFT EARLY BECAUSE SHE WAS PREGNANT. OVER ALL THE CLASS WAS DIFFICULT BUT SHE MADE IS UNDERSTANDABLE. GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO EARN 100 POINTS SO IF YOU DONT DO WELL ON ONE OF THE MIDTERMS. DO THE HW! IT WILL HELP YOU!
I'm horrible at math and was intimidated by the class, but Huntsman was an exellent teacher in the sense that everything was explained clear, she offered an easy 100 points (as much as a test), but best of all BOTH tests, as well as the FINAL were OPEN NOTE-but she left early and the sub was a bad teacher
Awesome teacher! I'm terrible at math and I'm probably getting an A. All you have to do is show up or have a friend that takes good notes because you can use them on the tests. I barely read the book.
so RUDE and inconsiderate!!!!!!
she is a great teacher. you must go to class, tho. the notes she gives are really good and clear, but the book is useless. if you miss class, it won't help. the homework is pretty easy, but sometimes takes a while. open note/book/homework tests.. do the homework! i failed the class at another school, but got an a- in her class. take her class!
she's great! she explains the notes very clearly so that it's easy to understand. she gives plenty of examples. the notes are really important because you can use them on the open part of the exams so go to class
Everything was explained very clearly - the class was easy to get through. The textbook was not used at all - everything that was on the test was in the lecture, and the homework was out of the workbook. During the Winter Session, there is less homework, and the tests are completely open-book, open-note (take it during Winter if you can).
Great class! You can do well even if you never open the book. I read and it didn't do me any good, but she explains problems step by step and goes slow so it's really easy to do them. I never did homework either because she goes over it in class so I would copy it down. I missed more classes than I should have, but still managed to get a B.
Took her during winter intersession, easier class. i suck at math but its just plugging in numbers into formulas. the only hard thing is that you can only miss like 20 questions on all the tests otherwise you get a b. go to class, copy her notes word for word (all tests open notes during winter), good teacher kind of odd personality but still good!
don't take her for psych 120. she's a tough grader and tests are hard. Had her for stat 95 and i liked her. but 120 sucked. class is hard overall, wished she was a lot more helpful. Can be intimidating as well. good luck.
She tries being mean on the first day sto scare people, but she's really nice. Her notes are pretty clear. Just show up, pay attention, and do the HW. Tests are open book, open notes.
Awesome teacher. She's really, really funny and makes class as interesting as possible. I've always hated math and she made it as simple as possible. If you show up, you'll do well. She's also really great at helping you if you need extra help. Just show up, take notes, ask questions if you don't understand, and you'll do fine :)
Easy class. I hate math and numbers and yet managed to get an A-. You don't need the textbook, but you do have to go to EVERY CLASS. Exams are open book and they are exactly the same as the hw. Oh and she pretty much goes over all the hw in class. So just show up, take notes, and you'll pass.
Very clear notes, MUST go to EVERY class in order to pass.
STAT 95 Summer course. She's FANTASTIC! She makes everything SO easy. I got everything even though I'm mathematically retarded. I didn't make it past Algebra 2 in high school and I STILL got all the material. I'd DEFINITELY take a class with her again.
great

Very clear and well prepared instructor. Show up to class, copy notes, and test yourself with the workbook and you'll pass. Tests are open note which helps not having to remember all the formulas.
To take this class you really need a light load during the semester. She lectures a lot but makes funny imitations/voices to get everyone's attention. Suggest laptop for notes. Copy lecture notes and understand terms in the book for the midterms. The final was really hard but it was open notes. Avoid 120 w/ her if you have a heavy load.
she is pretty easy teacher all test are open note, except for the second part, her test are on two days, dont really need to read the book but take notes and do the homework cause it help, tests are easy but the final is hard so study!
Take her!she's very helpful listen to everyone that commented her.i gotscared the 1stday and she asked me to come back.TAKE HER during the winter session.IF YOU NEED THIS CLASS TO GRADUATE TAKE HER.she cares and loves to make jokes. After reading all this & you still cant decide your an idiot if you dont take Dr Huntsman! So move before it's gone.
Took her during winter session, so attendance was mandatory. Was intimidated the first day but was relieved to see the course content wasn't that bad (definitely easier than calculus!). She's a little kooky, but lively and also helpful. Everything's open note, including the final.
Great teacher. She's a bit quirky and funny. Winter session was fairly easy, with 3 open notes/book exams. Ended up with an A with fairly minimal effort. Just make sure you keep clean/clear notes and HW, as the exams questions are almost duplicates of assigned work. Plug in problem information into formulas taught in class and you should be set.
SHE IS GREAT!!! I highly recommend her. Test easy if you go to lecture and do homework. If you go to lecture youll do fine... The textbook was a waste of money (didnt even open it). The workbook is NECESSARY. Take her
400 point class. 1/4 for each of three non-cumulative tests and the other 1/4 for SPSS computer assignments (either do them in lab or buy the $15 software to do at home). quirky & fun professor. if u can go to every class and do all the problem sets in the workbook, u wont need the textbook. see her during office hours for questions & u'll do well
A very fun and energetic professor. Book was mostly optional, if you took good notes and read the packet she sells you then you can do just fine on the exams. I would definitely see her during office hours to bring in your papers to correct them and just to talk. If she knows you and you interact in class then she will be even more helpful.
I just today found out about this Web site and wanted to look up Laree and there you are! I took her class way back in 1994/95 and enjoyed it immensely. You probably don't remember me, you've had a few thousand students since then but we shared a common 'experience' with an SJSU staffer. I wanted to thank you for a good memory of your class.
Pretty good. She made things pretty clear and straight-forward. You must attend class and take notes though! It's open notes, so if you miss a day, be sure to have a friend to rely on. Other than that, she may seem unfriendly at first, but she is pretty cool. She hates people coming in and or leaving during class! You mainly need the workbook!!!
i took stat 95 with prof abrams first and i failed, i take it with huntsman and get a B+! she's amazing, she explains everything so its perfectly clear and shes actually really funny if you listen for it too
Easy class!!! Dr. Huntsman made a somewhat dull subject enjoyeable. All tests are open book/open note; however, tests are based entirely off her lectures and workbook so attendance is mandatory. The textbook is pointless so save your money. In the end I recieved an A with little effort but at the same time learned a lot!Highly recommended for STATS!
I love Dr. H. she is the best teacher! She help you with any questions she keeps the class on tract. She obviously knows her stuff and is hilarious. She is organized and hates rudeness. If you are the kind of student who asks dumb annoying questions b/c you don't pay attn. take this class with someone else. Suit up, show up, and you'll do fine.
attendance is mandatory, lots of notes, never used the book. Tests are open notes/open book except for part b of the exams which is vocab. The tests were hard only because you didnt know which formulas or tests to use because the problems didnt tell you like the notes and hw did. Supposedly huntsman is the easiest teacher for stats.
Prof. Huntsman is a really good teacher who knows what she is teaching. She may seem a little crazy sometimes and tends to go off on tangents but quickly gathers herself. you MUST pay attention and take every single note written on the board. Tests are two parts, half open-note and half not...She is pretty helpful if you go to her for help too
My favorite teacher! super awesome&very helpful. Intimidating in the beginning, but she's pretty funny. Wants her students to do well &is approachable for help. Don't bother buying txtbk. It doesnt get much easier than her lecture notes. Grade based on tests, but half of them are open notes. Take her for stats!!
She was a good professor academically and her lessons and topic was pretty clear. She as a person was pretty harsh and rude though. She was not too bad one-on-one but to the class she was quite rude. She was also always like 5 minutes late but freaked if we were. Kind of hypocritical and annoying. Don't buy the text just the workbook.
This class is definitely challenging but if you work hard you will leave her class with a lot. Be willing to put in your hours for reading and writing. 2 lab reports (be sure you know your APA!) 3 exams and an open book final, plus group assignment. She is extremely approachable and has a good sense of humor! Would take her again for sure.
At first she seems intimidating but she is actually hilarious so don't let her scary you! Two lab reports, three multi-choice tests, one group project (fun), open note final and there are no lab hours yay! Not super easy, not super hard.
A difficult, challenging course but you can do fine as long as you read the textbook and take notes during lectures. You must put in your hours of work for the lab reports and studying for the 3 exams. The final exam was the most difficult aspect of the course for me. An "A" or "B" grade can be obtained if you put in your effort.
She will put you to work. You will have to read the textbook and thoroughly understand the material for exams. The final exam is especially challenging. After taking this class, any other course after it will seem relatively easy.
My first impression was wrong..... She deeply cares about students. she tells you EXACTLY what you need to write in the reports and gives study guides for the exams. I Wrote down every single word she told us and did not fall behind schedule. I got an A..........I will take anything she teaches.
A lot of work, and a bit hard exams. If you stay on schedule, follow the instructions, and put your effort, you'll do fine. Dr. H is quite a personality, but wants you to succeed and rewards your hard work.
She is kind off mean. Her class is moderately hard. Outside lab work required. She's ok.
The class is very demanding, but Professor Huntsman is cooperative and supportive teacher.
Class took a ton of work as could be expected for a 100w class but it is COMPLETELY passable if your willing to do the work. Prof. Huntsman is so funny/awesome and clear about her expectations and what you go over in class is EXACTLY what your work will be. put in the time and she will make sure you make it through the class with a good grade
I took AP Stats in high school and got a D, took it at De Anza and flunked, I took her 5-week summer session. She puts everything in a real-world setting so it's easier to make sense of what she's talking about. She's extremely helpful, really nice if you're respectful, and our class was always cracking up at her nerdiness. Love this lady!
One of the easiest classes at San Jose State. No need to buy the textbook, just buy her Stat workbook. She allows you to use notes on part A of her exams, and part B is usually True/False or multiple choice questions. If you can study on your own, no need to show up besides exam days. TAKE HER!
Easiest math i ever took! She is very clear. He homework and class is very routine; notes on the board then goes thru with examples. You don't need the text book if you study/pay attention in class. just her problem set book.
Advanced research methods and design with Dr Huntsman is a breeze if you do your job as a student. Come to class, read, pay attention and you get an A. If you have questions visit her office hours there are no stupid questions and she is extremely nice and helpful, she takes care of her students who put forth the effort to succeed.
Huntsman is pretty nice--she lets you use notes on the first part of the exam, but not for the 2nd part. I wouldn't mind taking her again :)
Ms. Huntsman is a really good teacher but you really have to pay attention to her notes and keep up with her notes. Also, to do the homework before class so when she gives the answers you actually understand it for the test because the test is exactly like the homework problems.
Easy class. You don't need to buy the textbook, just buy the workbook and do the problems before going to class. Exams are easy too.
The class is pretty much individual work, but she is very helpful into correcting mistakes and improving revised homework (mandatory revisions anyway). Class is ALOT OF WORK, but passable, I thought I would get a C, but came out with an A :). Very helpful and cheerful and tries to be funny, but the subject is boring and there's no way to make itfun
Fabulous teacher. Easy class; explains everything really well. Love her! (:
Very professional. Extremely clear in what she expects. Clear what the assignments are. Cares greatly about the students success, and respectful in the amount of work that the student is given in that she wants to make sure that you have a fair amount of time to complete the assignments successfully.
Professor Huntsman is an amazing teacher. If you get stuck, GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS! Like everyone says in college, dont become a number, become a face to the teacher and they will remember you, Professor H is one of those teachers. One thing about Professor Huntsman is that she is a teacher by day and hunter by night! Chuck Norris is afraid of her
Had this class for a lecture and it is not that bad. In a big lecture hall, all tests are open notes except for 1. Super easy if you have all the notes. When it comes time for SPSS assignments on the computer she is an easy grader as well. Take her class. She's entertaining and a little weird sometimes but its an easy A.
Never had a teacher quite like her. She's engaging and funny in her lectures, and expects students to come to her for help, SHE WILL HELP YOU - just ask. She has an intimidating personality, but cares about students a lot.
Definitely used the workbook every class. Textbook is optional, but helpful. Don't miss a class and take good notes. Get help if you need it, especially on the hw/project. Fairly easy class as long as you understand the material.
Go to class, copy everything from the board & you'll be fine. Tests were open note/open book so as long as you have the notes and a slight understanding of what's going on in the class, you'll be fine. Got an A.
her exams have 2 parts, part A is open note so its real easy but part B is closed notes and you really have to know your vocab, its mostly true/false but its still hard. she really knows her stuff and is a good teacher but she talks fast sometimes so you miss alot of info so make sure you pay attention
Hunstman is a great professor. She's very clear and tells you exactly what is needed to prepare for each exam. Class is only based on 400 points. 3-100 point tests and 1-100 point assignment. Homework is not mandatory but extremely helpful. Go to class every day and this should be an easy class.
A fun and interesting teacher. She took a difficult class and made it entertaining and applicable to us. She is bright, funny, and genuinely cares about her students.
If she writes it on the board, make sure you write it down, too! You will need to know that info! If you don't understand it, go see her at her office. She really likes it if you ask questions and show that you care. It makes a BIG difference and it really helps you understand some of the difficult concepts.
I took stats from you during my lunch hour 20 plus years ago and you were a math angel goddess. You politely declined my lunch invitation yet mentioned you were pleased to see I had gotten an A on Exam 1. I got all As after that! You inspired me! I needed your class to get into upper management which I got. God Bless and Happy Memorial Day, Laree!
This one is really good. Knows her stuff and doesn’t waste time. She puts up the notes and then she explains things and makes sense. Her homework sets you up for the test. She is really helpful and will bend over backwards for you - until she’s not. Don’t argue with her or make her mad ever! Cool Prof.
A great professor -- really smart and funny, and willing to help out a lot. Definitely worth getting to know.
I was expecting cognition to be the most boring class among all the classes im taking this semester, but Huntsman proved me wrong! Within a short time period, ive learned a huge amount of knowledge! Ironically, her class is the most enjoyable and learnable. Love her teaching style. Straight to the point!
She's honestly my favorite teacher. All the years leading up to this one, I have dreaded math and had only awful experiences. I never excelled in it. In HER class, I can pay attention the whole time (she's really entertaining), I can understand everything she teaches, I can get all the problems right, and even help people around me. She's amazing.
Stats class was very straightforward. Show up to class, take good notes and you should be fine. Textbook is not needed, if you need help don't be afraid to ask her. She's really helpful and funny (in a weird way). Overall it's a very chill/easy class.
Very animated and eccentric professor. Took her twice for two different "boring subjects" and neither were actually boring with her teaching it. She doesn't hand back exams so if your grade stoops, just see her for office hours. She's extremely helpful.
Textbook not needed, just come to class and take good notes and do your problem sets. I missed a couple of classes but as long as you catch up with classmates on notes you'll do good. She's extremely lively and energetic and is always in a good and joking mood which is very contagious. TAKE HER! Simplifies stats and makes it understandable
Huntsman explains the lessons really well and is entertaining while teaching them. 3 tests over the semester, all open notes, homework, book.. everything! Coming from someone who sucks at math, take her, go to class and youll easily pass.
She is super bubbly, helpful, and friendly. Pay attention and take good notes and make sure you understand the material, if you do, you'll pass for sure! The class isn't too bad, its pretty basic. 3 test, 1 SPSS assignment will determine your grade.
Laree Huntsman is amazing! She took difficult information and made it understandable and interesting. And she was an awesome teacher -- fun, funny, obviously loves life, and a wicked sense of humor. Tests were easy if you take good notes. Classes were fun. I hope to have her again and wish she taught more classes! She's amazing!
This class was surprisingly fun and the teacher was a kick. She wrote the workbook herself, and if you use it, you will get all As on the tests. It's more important than the textbook because you are applying the knowledge to practice problems. She was a great teacher who was very funny and hella nice. She cares very much about her students.
A hard class but with a teacher who was wicked fun. Taking this course during Intercession was a lot of work crammed into a short amount of time, but it was kind of worth it because you are living and breathing statistics for two full weeks. Huntsman was great as a teacher.
Wow! A really hard class, but the teacher makes it more understandable. It is a LOT of work, so make sure you get the workbook and make sure you take notes on EVERYTHING Huntsman writes on the board. She was an incredible teacher -- funny & silly, but demands a good work ethic from you. Her class requirements are VERY particular. She's great, tho.
Hard class, GREAT professor. Didn't need the textbook at all, just buy the workbook for sure. Attendance is a must without textbook, her notes are very crucial for the exams and homework. Her lectures are very straightforward and will be glad to help you anytime. OPEN NOTE exams based exactly off of workbook problems, TAKE HER.
Usually, this class is challenging, but Dr. Huntsman make it more understandable. It is a lot of work, so make sure you attend every class, do the workbook problems, and take all notes. Just study for tests and you will be great. Overall, she was an incredible teacher and I absolutely recommend her class.
She is the opposite of monotone... Her voice varies so much and she goes off on tangents that it gets difficult to follow her train of thought. But she allows her class to use notes and workbook on tests, so if you do the work and take notes you'll be fine. No textbook is required
Highly recommended. She always tells her own jokes which is hilarious to watch. Her teaching is excellent her lessons are very organized and she has a passion for her work so she makes it very relate-able to students. Hw daily but not collected, she reviews it and that is exactly what is on every exam just different scenarios and numbers.
most helpful teacher i've had at sjsu. you don't need the textbook, but you must buy the workbook. tests are only easy if you go to class every day and take notes! she's never boring and a lovely woman! also, try to sit in the front, it's really hard to read the chalkboard from the back of the room! loved dr. huntsman!
Awesome professor. Very fun and enthusiastic. Tells jokes and is able to laugh at herself. Very caring of her students and will take time to help you. Definitely take her, but you must be prepared to work hard.
COME BACK PROFESSOR HUNTSMAN WE LOVE YOU!!! My friends told me to take you and you were amazing!I told my friends to take you but you're not the teacher! we went by your office and nobody knows where you are. I didn't want u to know this when I took u but I suck at math - I did better in your class than I did in any math class EVER! You're awesome!
I hated stats b4 but now I like it! If you write down the notes from the board everyday in class and do the short problem sets from the workbook then you're good. She also explains her notes very clearly in class. She's really funny I laughed a lot in her class. She also helped me a lot when my grandma died. Take her!!!! Lol
There are 3 test for 3 units and one assignment to boost your grade (SPSS). SPSS was super confusing at first but you learn (if you see a spreadsheet you're on the right path.) She is funny and pretty wise in years i gesh and she tries to just make it easier for you. Even though she doesn't grade HW I highly suggest you do it anyway.
I took Huntsman for Stats 95 a few semesters back and she is one of the best professors I had at SJSU. Math is always a struggle and I passed with a B+ (which is equivalent to an A+ for me when it comes to math). She is very easy to approach if you are having trouble and she has a gift for making a boring class entertaining. TAKE HER CLASS!!! :)
I took Huntsman for Cognition over winter break and given the class was only 10 days long, it was a lot of work. Huntsman was very approachable and was good at answering students questions. Made class fun to be in. I would definitely take a class with her again!
This is the second time i have had huntsman as a professor ( first was stats) and for me she is one of the best professors in school. There is definitely a lot of work in this class, more than the usual 100w classes but i feel that i have learned a lot about APA. No one else can and will teach APA like her. A paper due almost every class.
I just can't say enough about how sweet of a professor she is! I wouldn't say her class is easy nor hard, it just requires effort. She promptly replies to emails! If you take good notes of what she expects from you for each assignment in class, you're guaranteed a really good grade. *she teaches psyc stuff you need for future tht other profs don't!
TAKE LAREE!! She doesn't just give you a stats problem during lecture, she paints an entire scenario for you and is so lively through it all! Go to class for your notes, they will SAVE YOU. There is nothing surprising on tests, she wants you to pass! Do the homework before class or you will easily fall behind because the material builds on itself.
Tests were open note and open calculator! If you go to class and take neat and organized notes, you will pass! She is very helpful and makes the assignments clear, she really wants you to pass this class too. For the SPSS assignment (which she gives either full or no credit) she allows redos until you get it right!
I've never gotten above a C in any math class in my life. I'm terrible at algebra, and thought I'd never see the day where I'd understand numbers. Huntsman really changed my experience with math. You HAVE to go to class and you HAVE to do the homework. However, class is extremely rewarding. I would highly recommend this class.
She's extremely charismatic! She's also very approachable and wants you to succeed. As long as you go to class and copy down all the notes, you'll pass for sure. There's 3 exams, 1 project, & no mandatory hw. Tests are open notes for the math part and T/F for the concept part. The project is easy and she allows redos if you don't get 100%.
I've taken both PSYC100W and 135 with Dr. Huntsman. She is an excellent and knowledgeable professor who is always willing to help students. psych 135 had 3 mc exams and 1 essay cumulative final. If you put in the effort, attend every class (she doesn't post pps), and take detailed notes-- A
TAKE HER CLASS! I've always hated math and I was definitely intimidated when I signed up for stats. However, I passed with an A-. This was the one class I WILLINGLY chose not to skip class. To pass the class you must take notes from lecture. Her tests are open notes. If you copy exactly whats on the board, you will pass her class.
If you struggle in Stats (like me), TAKE HER. She is easy to understand, tests are OPEN NOTES, and she is super approachable, nice, and really cares!!! I cannot stress how much she has helped me. I HATE math and I always struggle with math, but I got an A- in the class! If I can do it, you can too! She is one of my favorite teachers in SJSU.
SO AMAZING! Half of the tests open notes! She is willing to help those who need it. Such an amazing and beautiful human. You only need to buy her book. YOU MUST BUY IT. Her tests are exactly like her book except with different numbers. She's upfront, and she really wants everyone to pass. Point based class and 3 tests. No extra credit.
Professor Hunstman is AWESOME. The way she teaches is very easy to understand and she explains everything step by step. Her tests are open note so just as long as you take good notes and really pay attention, then this class will be super easy. 3 tests throughout the semester that are very similar to the homework assignments just different numbers
One of the best professor I've ever had. I do not do well with math, but professor Huntsman breaks down the problems perfectly and gives very detailed notes! She made me understand stats so much better! We need more professors like her, she genuinely cares about her students and is really understandable! She's also really clear with her lectures.
Huntsman is super nice and funny. Go to lecture and copy what she writes on the board and to the homework. Make sure you score high in SPSS and on the first exam (easiest). If you try a bit more an A- is possible. Don't get lazy like I did!
I took her class over summer, it was basically an entire semester broken down into 10 classes that were 3 and half hours each. All you have to do is show up to the class take all the notes and ask questions. The tests are super easy because you can use all your notes. Theres only 3 tests, 100pts each and thats all you're graded on.
I took Professor Huntsman's Stat 95 class over the summer, and she is by far the BEST math professor I've ever had. She made all the information really easy to understand and comprehend. The class moved quickly because it was a 5 week course, but Prof Huntsman would always answer any questions I had about the material. 10/10 would def recommend!
Only graded on your exams and an assignment called SPSS. Seemed unwilling to help out when it was needed but class is pretty easy to pass. The exams are semi easy depending on how much you understand stats.
If you are not good at math TAKE THIS CLASS! All tests (including the final) are open note and workbook. The tests are identical to the lectures and workbook problems. Attendance is mandatory an you have to take notes. I have never been good at math and this was honestly the first math class I didn't struggle in. Take her. She's amazing.
She is such a nice professor, but sadly her lectures just make no sense. Her lectures are all over the place and will have you completely confused. There are 10 quizzes, 3 exams, and a final. Tests and quizzes are not difficult, but some questions are difficult to understand. She does not use slides but instead uses the super old school projector.
I have learned a lot from this class! The weekly quizzes were really helpful in making sure that I kept up with the material in class. After taking this class, I am now interested in the field of cognition. Professor Huntsman is very approachable and always willing to help out if you have any questions on what she went over in lecture. She's funny!
Huntsman wants her students to succeed. Take VERY good notes. She talks fast but if you write everything down you will have everything you need to do well on quizzes and exams. Exams based on lecture, quizzes based on reading. If you read each week and study notes for tests, easy A. The final questions are given the first day of class, easy to pass
Her patience, dedication, and ability to guide a class is so appreciated. She's a great professor and honestly we need more professors like her, because she made class interesting and making a class laugh/smile is a huge thing that now a days not many professors can do.
Weekly chapter quizzes, Multiple choice. Textbook required. She doesn't take attendance. No group work, expect to sit in your seat for the whole class and listen to her lectures. She has been rude to me numerous times to the point I went to counselor about her behavior. However as a teacher, she is a easy. Teach yourself, read book & pass class.
I took her class on Friday mornings and she showed up 30 monitors late to every single class. She would also take 20 minute breaks in between class. Sometimes we had to stay after class because she wouldnt have enough time to finish her lectures. She goes goes off on a rant most of the time and makes it very hard to understand the material.
Huntsman is amazing! Very intelligent bout the sub and makes class fun with her humor. Attendance not mandatory but has weekly in class quizzes (drops 2).Show up, take notes, read the book, study and the class is chill. She gives great lecture but the material is deep so it helps 2 warm up by reading text before class. Great teacher I'd take again.
Took her over the summer & thought she was a great teacher. Instructions and lectures were easy to understand and follow along. Feedbacks: She is definitely NOT approachable. When a student would ask a question, she would make it seem like the student was "dumb." and she goes on tangents and off topic often. But I would take her math class again.
Professor Huntsman is a good intro stats teacher. She basically lays out all the info in her textbook. The test was two parts: Part 1 open notes and Part 2, not open notes. Your grade is legit three exams nothing else. You can study at the last minute and still do decent. Office hours are good, especially before the exams. ( Fall- 2019)
It has been an awful experience so far. She has not taught on anything but just given us 3 papers to write. Her expectations are very UNCLEAR and her style of teaching is emailing her with questions and she'll email them back to the whole class anonymously with answers. She hasnt, however, responded to nearly half the questions I have asked her.
DON'T TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO LEARN. She takes questions through email and compiles them into one email with answers and sends them to the whole class. however, she hasn't responded to some of my questions nor answered any of my emails. She did send an email out that students contacted the department chair saying that THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND.. ???!!!
During covid i took this class, nothing was organized we did not have proper canvas assignments, nor did we have proper form of communication. She sent us random emails at 4 in the afternoon and links to help us. Does not respond privately to you but rather in her mass emails. No form of communication with others in the group and has attitude.
If you can, PLEASE DO NOT HER. Her teaching style has gotten worse since the pandemic started. I was signed up for her Winter class, and she wanted us to do 6 summaries 250+ words IN ADDITION TO a 10 page 2700+ word literature review. DURING THE WINTER. A 3 WEEK COURSE. It's too much, please don't take her.
WARNING, DO NOT take Huntsman. I took her for 100W online, she doesn't use canvas and throughout the whole semester she sent probably less than 20 emails, so a lot of the time it was relying on the few examples she attached to complete the 3- 10 page papers that determine your grade. She also mass replies to all emails which is very unprofessional
I just wanted to say thank you for helping make my first semester at SJSU great! This class has been fun & has given me the opportunity to learn about several interesting topics. Hopefully when I get around to taking my capstone class I'll be able to take it with you.
She does not have office hours, she says they are only on email, and she does not answer your questions through email directly, rather in a mushpot of other Q&A's at the end of our bi weekly emails for our homework. She gives vague instructions and vague/lack thereof feedback, or help. Avoid her if you can, she is TERRIBLE.
This is a G.E. writing class and Huntsman sends us page-by-page clear instructions for everything - including visual examples, links & videos. I have never gotten so much help from any prof. on a paper. Sends Q&A from anonymous students so I didn't have to ask any questions. It's almost impossible not to get an A. Take 100W from Huntsman.
This class is based off of 3 papers that are around 10 pages each. She definitely cares more about your APA format than the content. Does not give feedback and mostly communicates through email. Definitely not a hard class and lets you rewrite you first two essays. Each day late she deducts 5 points. My advice: Perfect you APA format!!
Communicates entirely through email and is unreachable. Does not use Canvas. She clearly recycles the same email over and over, as it contains numerous dead links and outdated dates and irrelevant information. Poor teaching with minimal communication and instruction. I'm convinced she's on vacation and setup scheduled emails to rake in the dough.
I got an A in stats! She lays everything out really carefully All the formulas/equations and step-by-step work to the problems are on the board. Slow, calm lecture style. All questions are patiently answered. Always there before and after class available to help. Quick response to emails. Super nice teacher and a great class.
Two 10-pg papers.10 pts per page. late-5 pts/day. Did her "Task for the day" and got an A. 2nd paper was incomplete/late but got a B+ in the class. Easy grader. Easy A. Lets you pick your topic & only cares about APA, length, plagiarism (uses turnitin) punctuality. Can rewrite 1st paper for extra pts. My advice: Take her and don't procrastinate!
She seems like a nice person. You need to come to every class, that's the only way to get the notes as she doesn't post anything online. You really need to pay attention as her review lectures were not helpful in my opinion. The whole course is graded on 3 100-point exams. They are all open book open notes.
Professor Huntsman does an amazing job and answering your questions and concerns during lecture. You should definitely attend all her lectures to get the best results on your exam. Just show up on time and ask questions and you are all set. And she has a great personality.
She is a great and caring professor who will teach passionately to anyone who wants to learn. I highly recommend Professor Huntsman
Professor Huntsman was a great instructor. She provided clear grading criteria for each paper and gave us the opportunity to rewrite our first paper to improve our scores. She was also very responsive via email whenever I had any questions. I highly recommend taking this course!
She is such a sweet professor! Her grading criteria was very easy, maybe because it was a 3-hour long class. Every exam was open-notes and her lectures are clear and direct. She's very nice to everyone and I totally recommend her class for stats95 for an easy grade.
Professor Huntsman lays out all the information in her lectures which is the same information that will help you in the workbook and on the tests. Overall the class is easy and straightfoward, only consists of 3 open note exams. She is always willing to help her students and answer their questions.
Professor Huntsman is very organized and clear in her grading criteria. She is responsive to her students and sends weekly emails to ensure that students are on track. There are two papers that are graded and it is optional to revise the first paper to achieve a better grade. I definitely recommend her class.
Professor Huntsman is such a kind professor. She grades based on only three exams. There are no curves or extra credit, but the exams are open notes. Attending lectures is important as her notes and examples are very helpful for understanding the problem sets.
Easiest math class I've ever taken. Our grade is made up of only 3 exams and there is no cumulative final. Exams are all open notes which she gives us the entire class period to do (~3 hrs) and hw/attendance is all optional. Highly recommend to do/understand the hw as her exams are VERY similar. The professor is also very kind and approachable.
I really liked Professor Huntsman's enthusiasm and teaching style. You can tell she enjoys teaching the class. She prepared me well. I'm in another class now and lots of what she taught is coming into play. I feel like I have a better understanding of the class than the people around me because I took her stat 95 class.
Class was pretty easy. Although your grade is based on 3 tests , you should be able to pass them with all the practice from the notebook as she allows notes on the tests. Someone who has really good notes would be able to pass the class without showing up but don't rely only on notes.
Professor Huntsman's support makes the difference and really helped me have faith in myself. A very special teacher and one of the only teachers in my academic career that has helped me understand math.
Super sweet and genuinely cares about if you're learning. One of the only math teachers I've ever had that didn't make me feel dumb. Take her class.
Attendance is super mandatory in this class. I took this class for 3 hour lecture periods exclusively on Fridays during the fall session. I'd recommend to take during the spring as you will have more class time. All tests are open note and aren't too bad as long as you take the notes and understand the materiel well.
Online and asynchronous, lessons were vague just PDF examples and links to YouTube videos. Will not meet on Zoom, no office hours and only communicates through email. Two days before graduation, class gets a mass email that our papers were flagged for using AI, we could rewrite or % of what AI detected would be deducted from final grade. Stay Away!
Horrible experience, discourteous and disrespectful teacher. Does not like when students email her with questions. Claimed half our class used AI but the software was brand new and the turnitin website stated low AI scores should be assumed to be false positives. Was not forthcoming with what was missed or marked down. Avoid her if you can.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER!!!!!! Horrible manners, bad teaching, lack of communication, very rude and accusing students of cheating with her AI Detection software. Faulty software that almost resulted in half my class failing for a technical error. She handles situations horribly and is by far the most rude appalling teacher at SJSU!
Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT take this teacher for any courses. She emailed me that some random AI detection software said my paper was plagiarized. I emailed her back and asked how I can fix it but instead of her emailing back to help me out, she just reported my paper to the university and got my degree withheld. Just a terrible teacher
Does not communicate well. Rude. Choose any other teacher. Stay away from this one. Does not teach anything, she grades on two papers that are supposedly for content, but they have really limiting criteria. If you need any help at all she will make your life miserable. Run away- fast.
Please avoid this Professor- she is hard to communicate with, she is rude to students, and she uses a faulty AI detector and does not accept papers with a score on AI higher than zero. have great documentation of writing your papers yourself and be very clear that you will have to rewrite papers if an AI score whether you used AI or not.
The asynchrounous format was perfect for my schedule. Organized and easy to follow. Her prompts kept me on track. Lets you pick your tipic, quick response to questions and is extrememly helpful. Accepts rewrites to improve grade. If you can write up experiments in APA without plagiarizing or using AI and your papers aren't late this is an easy A.
Graded on 2 papers. DONT use grammarly (or have extension enabled) b/c she will report you to the school for AI usage without warning even with proof of you not using it. You work on your own schedule so don't fall behind. Grading criteria was clear and she allowed you to rewrite the first paper. Only take her if you don't have any other options
Professor Huntsman makes this stats class a breeze. Attend her engaging lectures and use unstuck AI for exam prep - you'll ace the open-note tests. Approachable and super helpful.
Professor Huntsman was a great Stats lecturer. I have never taken stats so the material was new to me but I felt that I could succeed well in class. She always stays after class in the event you have questions and is always open to helping her students succeed. While the material may be difficult to some, she makes it easy to understand.
Her feedback is kind of inconsistent. However if you turn in your paper early she will give feedback on how to improve your grade if you want to change anything. Class was just two 10 page literature review papers. The second one felt a little easier since you kind of get the hang of it after the first.
Straightforward class. Two 10 page papers due by the end of the semester. Professor answers emails and gives feedback on early submissions so you can revise for a better grade. Just avoid plagiarism and AI use, and you'll do fine.
Topics were provided but you can pick your own with approval. Focus on experiments only (super important if you want an A). The class was clear and straightforward. Answers messages quickly and is very helpful. Disable Grammarly, don't use AI or plagiarize, follow instructions. Rewrite for extra pts. I was afraid to take 100W but it was easy.
rof. H. is a super supportive and responsive professor who ensures student success. She replies to emails promptly and her course structure is very clear. The writing assignments are engaging, with detailed step-by-step instructions.Following her guidance and avoiding AI use and plagiarism, students can excel and gain maximum value from the course!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Not only is she very rude, but she has zero clue how to use the AI detector on Turnitin and defaults to any score above a 0 being an F. You can actively have your version data, and be willing to share it with her and she will not care. On top of this the required subject matter for the reviews is incredibly limiting.
Hands down worst professor ever. She has zero teaching skills and doesn't even follow her own rubric when grading. She doesn't read or grade papers, just gives out arbitrary grades. Everything is based on her attitude, which is horrendous. Borderline criminal, really should not have a credential. Several students have had to dispute their grades.
Worst professor ever. Incredibly rude, and makes zero effort. She doesn't even provide feedback, just gives out random grades and hopes no one notices. Then when students question her, she puts them down or accuses them of plagiarism to protect her lies and lack of interest in doing even the most basic tasks expected of a professor. What a joke.
I took this course during winter session which is a lot faster and can be hard to manage. However she made it a less stressful winter session! Her breakdown for how to approach the paper helped a lot. Each day she let you know what you should be working on and what she expected for each section of the paper. Also a quick responder.
She was polite and sweet to me! Super helpful and responsive too. The bad ratings came from people who used Grammarly. She even gives them lots of chances to fix their AI. This is a straightforward writing class with clear grading. Take her!
I told her not to worry about flunking me cause I flaked and didn't turn in anything. She talked me into working, cut me slack, helped with references, waived the late points, and passed me. Glad I took her.
It is all about the APA! Which is annoying, but it helped to get an APA review as I had not written a psychology paper in a few years. I picked a topic I wanted to study so I benefited from that. Professor Huntsman helped me every time I needed it. Good class.
Do not take this professor. She assigns way more work than other 100W profs. She uses AI to grade AI? and solely relies your grade based on what the AI says. Hated every second of this class. If its between taking it next semester or this prof, take it next semester!
