She is a nice lady and is helpful and takes her time to answer your questions, but she has a thick accent and it is a bit difficult to understand her during her lectures. She allows you to use your notes on the tests, but her her tests are not easy.
Very difficult to understand because of her accent. Tests are easy if you do the practice test.
Dr. Eads has a horrible accent, but if you really pay attention to her, you'll know what she's saying. She's always willing to help you out. When she goes over each lab, she writes each step down making it easier to do. She's not that bad.
Only problem was the accent, difficult to follow at times. Otherwise a nice, laid back teacher.
I started out the semester with Eads, but her accent was simply too much for me. I honestly understood less than a quarter of what she said in a whole two and a half hour class, and by the end of the second class had to transfer. She seemed nice, but the accent made sitting through class VERY difficult.
she made this class way more difficult than it should be. her accent is hard to understand and the way she went about the chapters made it more confusing than it already is. i was totally lost and i had to W.
Took CHM 1045, Would be a good class if I spoke German. Probaly should of had a D in the class but she put big curves on tests and let the whole class retake one. Nice lady just cant understand her.
its chemistry, so it is not easy, but she was very helpful, sometimes hard to understand she is from russia. She let my class use open book on all her test.
She is a really nice but she is difficult to understand. She is all over the place when she gives lecture. She jumps from one subj. to another and then back. She is willing to help and very approachable but she doesn't explain things very well.
Dr.eads is the best teacher i have ever had. she is very helpful and nice.
Had her for lab only. Can't understand her accent at all at first, you have to watch her lips as she's talking to get it, but you start to understand her as term goes. Very helpful & lenient during experiments, helps you the whole way. Make sure you understand the concepts of the exp. and how and why it was done and you should do fine with examz.
hard to understand at first, but you get used to her thick accent. extremely helpful, even on tests, which are easy. explains everything and tells you what you did wrong before you turn papers in
If you havent read this before, she has a very thick accent, of course she is nice and all that, but if you want to actually learn something, you are going to have to find a different professor.
Dr. Eads is a nice teacher and all but her accent is hard to understand. Her tests are modeled exactly like her practice tests though, so just know the practice tests and you will be alright.
just got done withdrawing from her class. she has a very thick russian accent and her class is HARD. Although she is very helpful she goes to fast and makes the test too short and Hard
She is one of my favorite teachers. Only had her for lab she was extremely helpful and a very good teacher. If you can put the strong accent aside and actually try you will do fine.
She is great, awesome teacher very helpful. Hard tests but she will give you a lot of extra credit ( if you are lazy don't take her )
SHe was a little hard to understand for the first week or so because she is russian. once you get over that then its all good. TAKE REALLY GOOD NOTES!!! OPEN NOTE TESTS!! really nice lady, and helpful.
hard to understand the russian but she lets you use your old tests for the final
Amazing teacher!! Very nice and Very helpful, she really cares if you make it or not. Take REALLY good notes and reveiw EVERY problem on the reveiw sheet and you will do great on tests.Love this teacher!!
At first the accent is a little hard to understand but once you get used to it the class is a breeze. I had her for chem 1 and lab and she was the best teacher ever. She also gives extra credit.
Hard to understand due to accent, otherwise she is fine.
I had her for Chemistry 1 and to me she was the best instructor ever. She explains very well. Do not mind her accent, she's great. She is easy for one to get good grades.
Terrible experience. Hard to understand, offered a study guide but the entire class had to go to the library to make copies for themselves and some of the answers on the study guide were incorrect. If you have to take Eads, as a last resort, seat in the very front row, otherwise you'll be lost.
she was a very sweet lady but difficult to understand. i had trouble with her accent.
Hard to understand. everyone in class has problems with test. gives study guides but test due not follow guide.. not a great teacher
Hard to understand. When the average grade on a test is not passing for the whole class 50-60 something is wrong with the teacher. Withdrawaling...Bad class to take..avoid at all cost..
She would be a much better teacher if she would understand that because of her accent it is hard to understand her and maybe do a poerpoint lecture so that we would be able to read what she is saying. She is a nice person and has a great personality and that is the only thing that she does and it also effects her being able to explain anything.
great instructor.. follow the study guide its almost the same. if you no whats on the study guide then you should be able to pass w/an "A".. EXTREMELY EaSy!!!
Great teacher. If you want to learn its up to you to listen and ask questions. She has no problem helping out students
Great teacher, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Accent was difficult at first but once you stop whining and just listen it is no problem at all. She clearly writes out everything on the board step by step and provides you with excellent study guides and lab work sheets.
i've taken her for lab twice and lecture once and she's a fabulous teacher. she loves chemistry and if you are capable of getting past her "accent", you will succeed in her courses. she's willing to help everyone, and all of her exams/tests are straight from the study guides in ASC/lab reviews. if i had more chemistry courses to take, she'd be it.
Ms. Eads is a good chem teacher, but to pass the class you HAVE to study! She provides you with a study guide, extra credit, and the material you'll need to learn, but if you don't study than you may have trouble with this class or any other chemistry class.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! HER ACCENT IS HORRIBLE, AND SHE JUMPS AROUND TOO MUCH, AND SHE MAKES MISTAKES ON EXAMPLE PROBLEMS. PLUS SHE DOESNT CARE ABOUT HER STUDENTS...I PLEADED FOR AN INCOMPLETE BECAUSE I HAD TO MISS CLASSES FOR WORK TO KEEP MY JOB AND BECAUSE I GOT EVICTED...SHE DIDNT CARE SHE GAVE ME AN F. PERSONAL PROBLEMS DON'T MATTER...MONSTER!
She is not so bad once you get used to her accent. It actually sounds kind of cool. Her tests are actually pretty easy if you study and do the homework.
Extremely hard to understand. She is horrible at explaining when to use which formula for what type of problem which is crucial since Chem 2 is 98% calculations. If you like to read the book, take your own notes, and teach yourself, then she is the teacher for you. I wouldn?t recommend her to anyone that has any sort of life outside of taking this
Chemistry is a tough subject for me but over all I found her to be very helpful. Yes, she has an accent but if her students just ask she is more than happy to clarify over and over again. Very sweet, personable teacher. She will be my Chem II teacher to.
You will get used to her accent. Wants everyone to pass and gives excellent study guides. If you do these and the assigned homework there is no reason not to get an A in her class! I would take her again!!!!
She is helpful if you ask. If you aren't sitting ion the front row it's very difficult to hear and understand her. She is understanding and will help. You will have to use the text book because you can't understand her at all. She has a thick Austrian accent. If you don't understand chemistry do not take her class you will have a difficult time.
Professor Eads has a very strong accent, but if you can get past that and read the text you will have no problem. She provides excellent study guides and is always willing to help, all you have to do is ask.
She does have a pretty strong accent so if that will be an issue I wouldn't take the course with her. You definitely have to be able to supplement what she does with your own studying. If you don't have time to read the chapters and do the homework you probably won't make it.
Very strong accent which makes it hard to understand lectures. She also tends to get lost while working out problems. You must use the book and solution guide. She doesnt give study guides and tests you on things she didnt even teach you.
Very strong accent which makes it hard to understand lectures. She also tends to get lost while working out problems. You must use the book and solution guide. She doesnt give study guides and tests you on things she didnt even teach you.
Her accent is very THICK but she's willing to help. If you have the opportunity to take another professor though you should DEFINITELY take someone else. :/
She DOES have a VERY thick accent, but you learn to understand her after a couple of days and as long as you go to class, do the homework, and review the study guides she provides, it's actually a very easy class. Considering it's Chemistry, I would rather deal with her accent than a difficult professor on a difficult subject. It's really not bad.
I took Professor Eads for chem lab. She has an accent, but it is not that difficult to understand her, I think some people need to get out more. She is very clear in labs, gives good instruction, offered extra credit opprotunities, and offered tutoring opprotunities. I would take her again.
She's okay. Her accent is too strong for me to comprehend. As a result didn't do to well on her tests & I'm a straight A student..will be the first time that I might get a B or C in class. If the accent will bother you take someone else. I took her on the recommendations of other and I wish I hadn't. The hardest course I have taken since I started!
She does have a strong accent but if you sit towards the front its not too bad. you can ask as many questions as you need and she will help. Gives lots of extra credit if you do not to well on tests. Would take her again very nice teacher
It's Intro CHEMISTRY - so no real shockers, BUT, if your new to it, you might want to take a diff Professor. This one is very nice, but she is Russian with a terribly thick accent that almost makes her not understandable when she is explaining a detailed topic that one doesnt understand. Listen to her, but learn HOW from the book.
Overall great professor.
THe accent becomes easier to understand with time. She cuts you off sometimes to answer your question but usually answers what she thinks you're asking. She is horrible with email communication. She does tell you about how great the ACS lab is....it is. Use her practice tests. Lots of the same problems!
Does she give study guides? Are her test multiple choice? Are her test related to the notes?
Chemistry II Lab, Has an accent that makes her hard to understand but is a very good prof. Gives plenty of opportunities to supplement your grade and is very willing to help students to understand the material and procedures.
If you like Chemistry, this is the class to take! On the other hand, if you are struggling with chemistry, do not take this class. Dr. Eads (as nice and helpful as she is) is EXTREMELY difficult to understand. I did not go to class often because there was no point. However, the tests are identical to the practice tests. I recommend this class.
I took Chemistry one lab with her. She is a very nice teacher but almost impossible to understand, she has a very thick russian accent and could hardly ever understand what she was saying. Everyone in the class bombed the midterm so she dropped that test grade and your grade depended on your final exam. I would try to get someone else if you could
Eads is great even though her accent is hard to understand. In Chem 1 Lab, she gave us study guides for the midterm and final exam.I got a 97 on midterm & 100 on final. I’m now in her Chem 2 lab & on my midterm I received a 100. I’m not great at chemistry (at all) but she is so helpful. It’s an easy class if you come & pay attention. Take her!
Dr. Eads is a great instructor! Her accent is quite strong, but she tries hard to enunciate and will repeat herself if needed. She's very passionate, which makes her class very enjoyable. She doesn't mind answering questions in class, or outside of class. Very quick response to emails as well. I'd definitely recommend her & take her again.
Some people do ok with her accent. I have a really hard time, and I sit in the front row. No study guides for lab, old exams (for study guides) on the lecture tests. I would take another professor if I had the opportunity.
Dr. Eads is an awesome instructor and I would take her again. Her only fault is her thick accents but she is caring and want her students to succeed. Anytime I had an issue, I would go to her and she would try her best to help.
Dr. Eads is a teacher that clearly shows passion in her field. It can be difficult to understand her for the first several classes, but you are able to adapt. She understands that Chemistry can be difficult to begin, and she accordingly provides plenty of resources to aid her students. I would highly recommend taking her for either lecture or lab.
I couldn't understand her whatsoever. Her accent is really hard to cope with. I wouldn't entirely recommend her because it's not easy understanding what she is saying, so if you want to pass chem, then get a professor whom you can understand.
Like others I couldn't understand what she said. Most classes I'd get lost at "Good Morning!" I wouldn't recommend her unless your good with learning directly from the textbook and slide/powerpoints.
This class isn't an easy class and it's hard to understand her, but after a few classes if you really try to listen you'll understand. She knows the class is hard & offers a lot of extra credit. Attend every lecture, do the study guide, take every extra credit offer, & review & study and you should be fine. I got a B and would take her for chm 2
VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND. As an introductory course she is overly hard. Introductory courses usually focus on concepts and understanding, she's more of a computational math teacher than chem. I wouldnt recommend her at all.
Dr. Eads is a great instructor. Granted she was difficult to understand at first, however, pay attention and you will understand her better. I took intro to chemistry in summer session II, and i attended tutoring almost every day and was able to grasp the material a lot better. I got an A in the course! I would recommend taking her!!
Couldn't understand a word all semester. Basically had to teach myself from the book and power points.
She is a little hard to understand, but everything she says is in her power points which she also allows to be downloaded from blackboard. She is really helpful and will give extra credit, plus she drops your lowest exam grade, which is awesome. You can tell she wants her students to understand and pass her class.
YOU CANT UNDERSTAND HER! She skips words in her speech and barely even knows what shes talking about. Was the most pointless class i've took. I had to drop out and retake with another teacher.
I could not understand her most of the time. She basically teaches from a powerpoint. Being that it was so hard to understand her I didn't do so well. She does give a lot of extra credit opportunities though. Overall it's a hard class!
Very good professor once you get passed her (Russian) accent. Enjoyed every class session, she was very helpful.
She has a really strong accent, but I got used to it, she explains very thoroughly and she makes tests almost impossible to fail, she gives you her notes to use on the test. She's really funny and nice, and she will always help you if you need it. I would take her again if I could.
Dr. Eads was AWESOME!! She is nothing like what everyone rated her. Yes she has a strong accent but if you are actually paying attention you'll understand what she is saying. I sat in the front of the class, went to every exam review, and every class of the semester (she gives you extra 3 points on your overall grade). I got a A in the class.
Professor Eads is a very giving professor. She actually wants her students to pass. She gives a lot of extra credit, and is there if you have questions. Her accent IS very thick, but I got used to it after a few weeks. I spent a lot of time in the ASC lab learning from the tutors. She's a very sweet woman, but will not be taking in the future.
Her accent is very thick, it is understandable sometimes, but that is only when she says "good, good, good, it's easy, let's skip"... She says this for every other chapter. But, what is the worst is that her powerpoint is wrong half the time... While she offers extra credit, the class is still difficult.
She is a very nice woman but OMG her accent is horrible. You will never understand her. I go to class and sleep because whats the point? I cant understand what she's saying. I do not understand how she is not fired. IRSC is scamming us out of our money. We pay for this class, we deserve to get a teacher than can teach. I am furious.
There is a reason Dr. East won Teacher of the year! She is 100% there for you, helps you succeed and provides you with the tools to do so. It's a tough class, buckle down, use ASC tutoring and attending class is a must. It was a hard class, but I have a great sense of accomplishment and learned so much!
For Chemistry she teaches from the power points, an offers lots of extra credit. If you put the time into it its an easy A.
If you attend class, and do the extra credit, you will be 100% fine. I took chem 2, Its a tough class, but she makes it worth it. She helped me after every single class in her office, without hesitation. One of the nicest teachers and most genuine people you will me. She wants you to pass, and if you really try, she will help you pass. Recommend!
I just finished up Chem 2 with Professor Eads and I must admit she's is super all around. She really wants to see you succeed. I can say with certainty she is concerned about your grade, maybe even more than you are. She is a professor I would highly recommend, she knows her stuff and she wants to share that. Totally accessible when you need help.
I took Dr. Eads for CHM1045L she is so sweet and nice. She does have a really heavy accent but after a couple of classes you begin to understand her. Theres only 2 exams Midterm and Final, she lets you use her notes for them. If you have a question she will help you out. Taking her again for CHM1046 lecture and Lab.
Get ready to translate, you can barely understand her when she lectures, I go to chemistry tutoring to learn the things she teaches in class because you can not understand her. Chemistry is hard enough, do yourself a favor, take another teacher you can understand.
Hard to understand her accent, but other than that, she's a great teacher. Gives tons of extra credit points and you can use flashcards on the tests. The only grades you have in the gradebook are tests though. No fluff grades. Available for help after class if you ask. Chemistry is not my best subject, but Prof Eads made is possible to pass.
You can get passed her accent after about 10 classes. Her tests questions are basically the opposite of her old ones. If it says highest, google the lowest and thats what will show up. She doesn't really teach just reads of pwp. Go to all the review sessions with Mike and you'll pass, she gives a lot of extra credit which helps.
She is a sweet lady BUT sweetness will not help you pass. I thought I could get over her accent but after about 16 classes with her between lecture and lab yet I still can barely understand her. Chem is hard but it is 10x more difficult if you cant understand your professor. I will not take her for Chem two. Luckily, she does give extra credit.
Eads was a great professor. She has a very strong accent, which can make the class a little more difficult. But overall, she is very caring and wants to help you pass her class. I got a good grade in her class and would take her again, but don't miss her classes. She gives extra points for your attendance to her class and its just beneficial overall
Eads has a strong accent, but I'm very happy I took her! She is always willing to help you and will do whatever to make sure you pass her class. She is so sweet and she's honestly a great teacher once you get past the understanding her accent. I would def take her again!
Mrs. Eads is a very good teacher. She has a very strong accent. She offers plenty of extra credit. If you go the ASC lab she gives you extra credit for that as well. She wants everyone to pass.
How can I give any professor more than 1 star when noone can understand them? She gives lots of extra credit because she has to because she mumbles with a strong accent. She skips many slides on power point gets calculation wrong constantly, is not very computer savvy and has many errors. You will get an A in the class, but you won't learn anything
GIVES EXTRA CREDIT! I had to start off with the extra credit because that's the ONLY way to pass her class unless you know how to teach yourself chemistry. Her accent is very difficult to understand a word she says. But if you ask for help after class she is 100% willing to do so. Sweet lady but you won't learn a thing.
Hopefully you sit at the front of the class, otherwise you won't understand a single word she says. There is no mercy as she barrages her students with cold, hard chemistry. Be prepared to work your butt off, but find solace in the myriads of extra credit. If you're ready to learn, she is ready to teach anytime and anywhere.
Eads is a very sweet lady but it is very difficult to understand her because of her strong accent. If you can teach yourself then you're good to go. She gives plenty of extra credit with quizzes, attendance and going to the ASC lab.
Took her for class and lab. She is passionate to teaching. You will learn lots from her. Her Russian accent takes some time to get use to, but by the third week I was use to it. I wished she taught organic chemistry.
Take advantage of your extra credit opportunities! And do the practice exams because they are similar to the tests. Very sweet woman and asks if you have any questions and will clarify if so.
I highly recommend Dr. Eads if youre looking for a professor that cares about the success of her students. She is super supportive and easy to talk to. She also gives many extra credit opportunities. Make sure to take advantage of the flash cards allowed on the tests and go to the review sessions if you can. All in all, shes the best!
She is a fantastic teacher! She is very helpful in the lab.
My first impression of her and the class was that it would be a difficult to pass, primarily because she does have an accent. However, as the course goes on, her tests are straight forward. She pulls from the given quizzes and practice exams. Just do the quizzes with a classmate and go to ASC reviews, all of which she gives tons of extra credit for
Wonderful professor. She is the most caring instructor I have ever met. She offers a lot of extra credit. Tests are not bad, just make sure to go over the practice problems in the textbook. Her accent did not bother me a bit. Her negative reviews are discreditable; if you try in this class, you will pass. She allows noted index cards on each test.
Good teacher. Very heavy accent though. Gives extra credit on tests. All homework assignments due near last week of class. Tests can be difficult. Very nice lady. You have to study and pay attention in class to get an A.
Doctor Eads is a very sweet and caring woman, but her teaching does leave something to be desired. Her willingness to work past her accent is admirable, and is always willing to help a student out when they are having difficulty understanding something. Her over-reliance on powerpoint presentations means that finding outside sources is a necessity.
I suggest sitting in the front of the class. She does have a heavy accent, but after awhile you understand her dialect. She gives xtra cred through out the semester. I found her test straight forward, and she teaches by the guidance of the powerpoint and textbook. Her questions are similiar to textbook. A fun and caring individual & take again.
Dr. Eads is an excellent professor. She is accessible outside of class and willing to help you when needed. Her tests were straightforward as long as you pay attention in class and study the practice exams, quizzes, and homework problems. The ASC lab is also very helpful-she offers extra credit for going to the ASC as well as other EC opportunities
Professor Larisa is a kind teacher, but she can be too quick with everything such as lectures, powerpoints, and works. Even with all the extra credit, you'll need to concentrate very hard.
Doesn't respond to email. Would not recommend during summer. Way too fast to learn all the content she expects us to know.
This was by far the worst experience I have had. CHM online is hard enough, she gave no feedback. Never responded to emails with questions/concerns. Had group assignments, never gave feed back if answers were correct. No lectures or powerpoints were given. Had to do everything through Critical Chemistry which is basically reading a text book.
Inaccessible, does not provide any feedback so I have no idea why I got certain grades or what I did wrong on incorrect answers. Takes too long to respond to emails and responses are never helpful. Lots of trick questions on quizzes and tests. OFTEN marks correct answers incorrect. Way too much work. Dont take this class if you dont have to.
Larisa Eads is a great professor, she does have a heavy accent though so you have to listen closely. I took her chem class right after taking a high school chem class and learned way more in her class than before.
No interaction with me, at least. I asked for help, but not available when I was. I had to look for other resources to help me somewhat understand this class. I would never take this teacher again! Her teaching is not recommended due to her just using other YouTube videos and Critical Chem and that's it. She was not involved!
Don't take her unless you have to, but there are certainly worse options. Her accent makes and already difficult class more difficult, so you have to listen closely. She can get frustrated with you quite easily, so it's best to avoid approaching her outside of class unless it's a must.
An A is possible if you work hard. Do the critical chemistry lessons however many times as it takes to get a 100, and take the quizzes up to 3x chance to get a high grade! You WILL work for your gradeor not. The opportunity is there for those who want it. Eads is a fair grader. She is a no-nonsense professor, not a babysitter. Do the work.
The professor was funny and made an effort to teach, though I could not understand her for the life of me. Most of the content in the labs I had to teach myself, as the lectures she gave on it I just could not understand. Her post lab quizzes can be quite confusing as well, with really no feedback on the written responses you give on them.
I would advise not too take Dr. Eads if you have difficulty in chemistry. Her accent is heavy and I could barely understand her half the time. She’s decent with the hw n extra credit but her accent n her teaching is why she has to do all that.
This teacher is non existent. Online classes I expect to have light teaching but she covers nothing herself and provides very poor videos. Critical Chemistry is a joke and one of the assignments was broken and she did nothing to fix it. She doesn't answer emails or takes weeks if she does reply. She gives no feedback and her SOA is wrong. Stressful
This professor often did not put much effort in being active with this course and took days to about a week to respond to emails. The program critical chemistry also had many issues that she did nothing to resolve. The schedule of activities was also very unclear and did not match up with the assignments that were actually required.
I looked at the reviews before i started this course before my semester and let me tell you guys I should've listened and chose a different class. She's really sweet i will not take that from her, but her accent is so strong you can barely understand what she's talking about (no shade) & I actually want to learn Chem and learn to like it
You literally cannot understand a single word she says because of her mumbling and heavy accent. If you have her for lab it's pretty straightforward because most answers are given to you. I lost brain cells that I will never get back.
VERY heavy accent, you legit can't understand a full sentence. But she makes up for it with study guides exactly like the test and extra credit. got points toward the tests just by attending lectures. Just understand the study guide and you'll pass.
Professor Larisa can be tough to understand due to her accent, but she's genuinely kind. The course is challenging, so staying focused and using resources like Unstuckstudy are key. With hard work, it's doable to get a good grade.
