He is an awesome teacher. There are NO test or quizes, and he doesnt care about grammar. There are class discussions daily, usually about non-related issues. BEST TEACHER!!! I have taken him three times!!!
The worst teacher I ever had. If you have insomnia take his 8am World Lit class. It will help. His choice of books is weird. They are not readable. 10 quizzes, 10 (2-pages) journal entries, 2 (5-pages) papers. I was very mad at person who said he is OK.
He is a good teacher. Brings fresh material to the class and explains the reading assignments during class. Grading is based in journals, short quizes, and 2 papers. The class is interesing bc you talk about uncommon things. Only for mature, open minded people.
He is the best prof I have had... EVER! You take quizzes after each book and no tests! I've never had somebody make taking a quiz seem so fun!! Even if you get bored in class, he's hot so you can just stare at him for an hour and 15 minutes. I wish that there were more classes I could take with him!
He's a good teacher. He is really laid back and makes the course interesting. The discussions are fun and worthwhile as long as the class participates. His coolness rating has decreased since he started wearing those white sneakers, but this is forgivable. I recommend him to everyone!
cool as****, take him and your mind will be opened much further, nice guy, just a chill dude
Great. Very fair
very uninteresting, be prepared to be offended morally
When I took his class I came out of "the cave". Ever since then I have thought differently and more open-mindedly about everything. It is a great first college level English class.
An all around awful teacher.
Hot HOt HOt. Not only is he hot but he's an awesome teacher. In our class we had no tests or quizzes, just papers. He made me a better writer! He's awesome and fun to look at!
I took him for 1101 and 2201 & made A's in both. The 1101 readings were interesting and required 4 papers which u could get reviewed before. World lit: WIERD books but can get by with reading online summaries & look smart!2 exams which are True/False and one presentation! wish i could take him again
hated the class, all we discussed was evil, and i didn't know they classified man **** under hot people
I loved taking this class. We always had fun discussions on every book. He was hott, so that is always a plus. There is a lot of reading to do so beware. If you love reading, like I do , then you will have no problems. Journals were not that bad, it was just writing what you thought.
Different type of teacher. He is a strange man. Be sure to do ALL the work. He grades very strict, if you have time to read all day long take him. He needs to understand that we have other classes. Assignments are very BORING.
As many of these people said..its on writing and your thoughts. I wrote about my thoughts and got low grades. So if you arent a good writer DO NOT TAKE HIM. If you are then take him. There is a lot of reading and you watch movies (not during class on your own time) good luck. btw he doesnt even look that good. talked about sexual things a lot.

he has a dry sense of humor, and if u can get around that, you'll enjoy his class alot. Hes young enough to remember what its like to be a student, but just old enough to know that he knows what hes talking about

god bless larrie dudenhoeffer. not only is he ridiculously good looking, he covers pretty interesting topics. AND he gives you every opportunity to correct/revise/get an a on papers. warning:::: don't take this class if you have a boring personality.
i love this class. it's a little strange at first, but it is definately the best [and easiest] english class i've taken at ksu
He is the best!! He is the funniest prof. I have had, yet! He is very understanding and I loved the class discussions. I can honestly say that i have learned a lot in his class. Very interesting class and a very cool teacher. Plus, he's a cutie.
I second that, God Bless this man! He is very understanding if you need to make up a quiz or anything. All you have to do is READ READ READ !!There is no way to fail this course, unless you are just lazy. He has so much information to share and is open to opinions. He is a subtle kind of cute, after the course ADORABLE !!
Has a fun teaching style. He puts ancient and modern literature in a way that can be easily understood. He seems to veer off track times but the sidebars always tie back into the point he was trying to make. And he's a total hottie!
I took him for 1101 and 1102, and he is an awesome professor. He makes you think outside the box, no 5-paragraph essays, EVER! He loves film and he incorporates films into his classes, which to me was a great alternative to long novels. Take him, you won't regret it!! : )
Professor Dudenhoeffer is SO hot...seriously, and he is very intellectual which makes him even hotter! I've learned so many interesting ideas from this class already that I will definitely apply to my life. My fav. teacher so far at ksu. oh and did I mention he is soo fine?
His class for world lit is really just reading the pages he assigns for class and then having a quiz over them or writing a page summary. Every class he just lectures & notes but it is very interesting! very easy as long as you read and follow the lectures.
This professor was awesome! He def. knew his stuff and as soon as he started talking during the first class I knew he was educated and very well spoken. I learned a lot in his class just by him quoting famous philosophers and theorists. We watched many movies and related them to essays in our book. I will def take him again!
Pretty decent teacher. If you're a hot girl, you will do just fine. He seems to favor females but I still did well. We watched movies and wrote a few papers. We have quizzes with only ten questions so you have to READ THE BOOKS!
Very interesting and entertaining! Loved his teaching style and in class discussions were not boring at all. books and movies were fun and it was an overall great class.

Pretty interesting class and a great teaching style. We read 5 books and write a 2 page response on each. Your grade in the class is represented by whether or not you read, so hes pretty fair..as long as you do the work and pay attention in class, you will pass the quizzes and get credit for the paper. So READ!
Great teacher. Very intuitive to his students. The quizzes are pretty easy if you read the books! His class is very interesting and fun. There are also two papers which are easy.
Very interesting and entertaining! Loved his teaching style and in class discussions were not boring at all. books and movies were fun and it was an overall great class.
This class was really good, i learned a lot. The books are good and he picks movies that go with them and we have class discussions, which are always interesting - take him, you won't regret it.
it is a MUST to speak with him after class or best of all to make and appointment with him to discuss various things (including deciphering his handwriting). He is a very interesting man with very insightful personality
He uses the class as his own little soap box to get his opinion out. Be prepared to be morally offended even if you don't practice any religion. He was very ****ed, even the guys didn't think some of the stuff he was saying was funny.
He chooses interesting books and has the student compare them to movies. You write 2 page papers on each book/movie, and there are T/F quizzes after each book. It sounds like a lot, but its not. He is very helpful and the class is enjoyable, especially if you enjoy watching movies! Easy A.
Very interesting man. He choses some of the most interesting topics I have ever been exposed to. You will leave the course with a different perspective on life and the world around you and the idiots that inhabit it.
i was pissed at first cause of his quiz policy but i learned more in his class than just boring myself with a text book I would highly reccommend him-you have to actually read in his class and the opinions of everyone in the class are different. thank god it wasnt some conservative old man hes hott and lets each student voice their own opinion.
His class is amazing you get a completely new perspective on things which is really nice and refreshing. if your religous you might get offended but at least you'll be able to open your mind to new things. i would highly recommend him i had him fall 06 and i still talk about his class plus hes hot
For this class, you read a book and watch a movie and write a short paper comparing and contrasting them. The day that the paper is due, there is a 10 question quiz on the book and movie and he does accept your papers if you do not get at least 6 out of 10. I think it is unethical for a professor not to except all work his students do on time.
He stinks. Hard to understand and the class is boring.
this class is very easy. if you attend class, take notes, and read you will easily get an A. He also makes the class very entertaining! tests are 10 questions and if you listen in class you should get an A.
Very interesting prof. I didn't agree with a lot of stuff he said in class but some of it made sense or was interesting nonetheless. Make sure you pay attn and read the books for the quizzes tho cuz its the only way you can complete the response and one slip up can cost your grade. He did provide extra credit tho. I would take him again
Mr. Dudenhoeffer is AWESOME. There are no trick questions on tests.. just read the material and you will do well. He really is the coolest teacher ever.
Fantastic class! Prof. makes you want to read and discuss material by connecting it to relevant issues in the world today. Will challenge your thinking. Easy A if you read and pay attention.
Very nice guy. Very straight forward about what is expected of you. Be warned if you tend to be conservative or religious, he will offend you greatly. He will say he always gets called: communist, atheist, & liberal, but his opinions speak for themselves. I never knew a university would allow a professor to basically preach his very narrow view.
One of the best profs. I've ever had. He was very liberal, and liked to stir up controversy, but it made for a very engaging class. He did a great job of getting students to open up their minds and examine their beliefs. Will probably offend you though if you aren't open to different viewpoints and willing to challenge traditional lines of thinking
I have never liked English but he made the class fun with his crazy stories and interesting aproaches to english. If you want a new experience with an english class, take him! you will not regret it!
great teacher. you have to read the books to pass the tests and accompanies each book with a movie [which are all interesting]. i actually hated him until i figured out his teaching style. take him - you'll definitely learn a lot!
AWFUL teacher! do not take.
He is a great teacher!! I loved his class and it was actually one of the few classes I enjoyed attending. If you actually want to learn something "out of the box" PLEASE take his class. It will open your mind to new ways of seeing things!
cool person! In class he likes to ramble aboutstuff that he doesnt test you on.It was an interesting class because you read a book and watch a movie and he asks ten questions and that is it.midterm and final were essay type.Grading system was tough.you could only miss ten points and have an A.Just read and watch and you will do fine.I made an A.
Class was BORING. His lectures were long and mis-guided. He took many pauses and lost his train of thought. I thought this class was an easy A boy was I WRONG!! He has 7 grades all semester, you bomb one and you're done for. Lots of foreign films that are hard to find. He is smart, maybe to smart. DO NOT take if you hate to read.... its all you do.
This guy is NOT A GOOD TEACHER!! I signed up for a World History Class and ended up getting a "left-wing indoctrination class". Throw in some "American Sucks", and there you have this guy. Out of 5 required texts, only 2 pertained to Lit and the others were "left-wing propaganda". This guy should not be using a LIT class to teach his politics!
This class is unbelievably BORING! he rambles about stuff, loses focus, and half the stuff he says doesn't make sense. His "test review" consists of how many questions from each section there are. The books he makes us buy are pointless.
He usually does not teach lower level english so if you can get him for one, snag him while you can! He is an intellectual who uses really big words but you can always ask for clarification and he would be happy to give it to you. He grades papers easy and is very nice to talk to. He makes you think outside the box. I really enjoyed his class.
Awesome professor, very intellectual type. Reminds me a little of Ross off of Friends. Go to class! They're interesting and that is where ALL of his test material comes from. Tests are all Multiple choice. You do need some of the books, but not all. Buy all of them to be on the safe side. Subscription to Netflix helps.
At first I didn't like him because he makes you read books that seem totally out there (ex. Mesopotamia) but then once the semester moved on, I started to like him. He curses, tells sexual stories, and wonders off from the subject. He's a hard teacher but if you like to interpret books, then take him.
GREAT TEACHER! Very philosophical but interesting. At first he seemed nervous but after he got to know the class he loosened up. Good lecturer and always willing to clarify anything & tries to motivate students to read. Hardest part is the mid-term & final (READ THE BOOKS)otherwise just do the hw & extra credit and you will pass w/flying colors!
I took him for Film History. The class itself is very interesting, and the only grades we get are weekly responses to films and readings (online), an attendance grade, and a final. A fitting movie [dependent on lecture material] is watched every week. His lectures are interesting but sometimes he seems spacey and a little zoned out.
Easy class. Very smart and interesting but I agree he is often spacey. Oh, and everything is about sex.
Didn't know much about film history until I took this guy's class. Great professor, although he would benefit with powerpoint. Attendance is mandatory. Do all the weekly discussions and extra-credit and you should do well. Final exam is multiple choice.
Very thought provoking. Go to class..he points out things that you probably wouldn't get just from reading. His "spaciness" doesn't really interfere with what he's teaching and is often rather entertaining, actually. Great teacher. :)
Great professor. Took him for 3220- focused on Eastern European cinema and Lacanian, Freudian, Kantian and Zizec philosophies. Those who say "everything was about sex" weren't paying attention. While this class was challenging, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great professor! He encourages class discussion to show you're engaged in relating philosophies from the books we read to the films we watch. Short essays due weekly. He's respectful, kind, and sometimes a bit silly - so don't be afraid to ask questions! Also, expect interesting subject matter when it comes to films (adoption, abortion, sex, war).
This prof is cool. He challenges you to think and respects your opinions. His class does have a leftist air to it, but he manages to get his point across. You are a grown up, you'll meet people with many different points of view in your life. He is super cute and hot too wich makes going to class so much more fun! meow!
The most wonderful English professor there has ever been.
I would not take this professor unless you like to read about mythology and are prepared to teach yourself everything.Boring class and all he does is talk.If you can teach yourself and are prepared for a 25 question midterm and a final for EVERYTHING you have learned, take him. He is pretty cool but I would NOT recommend him for World Lit.
Nice guy and knows his stuff. He's good at explaining concepts in an understandable way. If you miss class you're screwed since his lectures go over so much. Writing notes can be hard cause he goes through things fast and his handwriting is really hard to read on the board. Overall, it's easy to pass his class but it's not an easy A.
Don't be distracted by this teacher's good looks and charm. He'll make you work for your grade. Go to class and do the assignments on time. If you have questions it's better to go to his office. Don't play on your phone or computer in class. I wish I could take something else with him.
I had him for film history and the class was easy enough. You should be able to get an A if you read the material and go to class. However I have never had a professor that I have clashed with as bad as this one. He is pretentious and assumes students know everything that he does rendering his lectures completely incoherent. I do not suggest him.
he's an awesome teacher and reminds me of jim from the office, haha. he's really knowledgeable on the subjects and provides very helpful notes on the midterm and the final(the only tests in the class)! there are writing assignments, but they are easy as they are graded on insightfulness. make sure to get all the books for each lecture! easy A!!
On the first day of class he said we would experience some serious cognitive dissonance, and he wasn't kidding. It was an awesome class though, and the texts he used were really interesting. Oh, and he's super attractive.
Professor Dudenhoeffer is not easy and anyone who says he is, is probably some chick who thinks he's hot. It is not easy to approach Dudenhoeffer in his office due to the fact that he likes to run his mouth. However, he does respond to emails. For someone who taught this class for the first time, he is clear. The textbook is heavily used in class.
Great professor!! Very clear on instructions and overall a pretty easy course. One essay per week and an assigned reading but it's really easy. I would definitely recommend him!
Without any regard to his teaching methods or the structure of the class, I feel no pretense in calling him a first rate genius. He is one of the most intelligent and articulate people I have ever met. Some professors don't seem like they belong at the university level, he is not one of them.
This man is too smart for his own good. He's a great professor, but extremely softspoken. If you plan to take him for film, bring a dictionary.
I took this class because I had to. I got a B. He offered extra credit that would have gotten an A, but it was a lot of work. Overall, it was okay. He is a smart man, but maybe even too smart. He cares a lot about Film and its analysis, more than anyone I've ever come across.
I took Dr. Dudenhoeffer for FILM 4200 but also for FILM 3200 and 3220. He is extremely articulate and his intelligence shows; his calling is film analysis. You will learn how films carry political themes, how they reflect on the current affairs in the world during their release, and even what "social work" they perform. Get ready to discuss deeply!
If you are interested in in-depth film analysis, Dudenhoeffer is the man to teach you. His class requires a great deal of work each week, but it pays off & the films/readings are usually interesting. I have taken his class three times. Be sure to pay attention to his grading scale as it is confusing. He is polite & always tries to help when he can.
He's a pretty okay professor. He usually lectures from powerpoints, but he does post them on D2L. He grades pretty easily. You just have to make sure to do all of your homework to get a C at least and there are two tests that you need to worry about (mid-term and final). What bothers me the most is that he sighs A LOT, while talking.
Dudenhoeffer is a highly intelligent film professor. He shows interesting movies & gives very deep / interesting insights to those films. He grades easily up until the final (which is worth half of the overall grade), which is when he grades a lot more in depth. He grades your readings every week, and every few weeks a paper and class discussion.
I highly reccomend Dr. Dudenhoeffer to anyone. Not only is he an amazing professor, but he is also clearly passionate about what he is teaching. There are a lot of papers in this course, but it is basically one page per prompt given, and he will give you three prompts to write about in total for each essay. Not too bad. :)
You have to print off 15 years of film history annotations hat are 15 pages long that he just browses through then gives you an A for completion. You need to know the terms in the powerpoints because you will have to look for them in the movies. The plus is that you will watch a movie every class so don't miss a class.
He was the replacement for our old ENGL 2110 professor because she had to leave. He wasn't that bad but he never spoke loud enough so I could never hear him and it could be hard to understand what he would ask us to do because he wasn't that clear. His quizzes were easy just answer the question to your best ability.
Despite replacing our former professor, Dr. Dudenhoeffer was a fair and honest teacher for our class. He modified the schedule in some ways, changed the readings, but he also raised the difficulty of assessments. Some lectures were fairly dry, but everything was multiple choice and discussions were engaging. Fairly simple, rocky ride though.
A pretty solid choice. I enjoyed his lectures, but I see why some people say its hard to stay focused on them. We watched a movie every week and did a quick writeup about it. He's very passionate and knowledgeable about film. If you're really into film, I suggest taking him. If you're just filling an elective, you'll probably hate his class.
This was a Film History II course. Dr. Dudenhoeffer knows his film history! Hes extremely knowledgeable and passionate about everything regarding film, his expertise will blow you away! There are didcussion posts EVERY week and theres one mid-term and a final that are both papers. If you dont like movies, dont take this class! Hes great!
Do not take this guy's class. His lectures are ridiculously boring, and he is so monotone. He talks painfully slow. Not to mention, I worked super hard the entire semester and turned in every assignment on time, but I got a B in the class solely because I forgot to watch ONE lecture out of like over 20. I missed one lecture and got a B. tf
He's super funny and very caring, overall a good guy. He's not too harsh of a grader and is very laid back. Participation and attendance does matter though. You also have a discussion post due every week. Other than his lectures being a bit boring, the class was very interesting. You will walk out of this class with a deeper understanding of film.
I've taken five of Dr. D's classes for over three years now, so I'd say I can describing his teaching. The lectures can be dry, but the content makes up for itself. I've had nothing but As in his classes because his assignments are prompt-driven and direct. It's easy to slack off in this class, but if you're interested in film, you won't.
I took Dr. Dudenhoeffer's "detective studies" version of Intro to English. The course was amazing, and he is possibly one of the best professors I've had. He is responsive, engaging, and loves his work. The class had a lot of readings and writing assignments, but he's understanding. Class discussions were interesting and helpful. Would take again!
In my experience with this class, Dr. Dudenhoeffer was awesome. It was an easy class: listen and take notes on his lectures, watch the film, and respond to the discussion posts 2x a week. Even the final was pretty easy, just based on the notes. If you need an elective, I highly recommend this. I did it during the summer semester, and it was fun!
