By far the best instructor I've ever had (in any course). He makes physics as simple as 1,2,3. He understands that learning should be made simple and easy. Highly recommend him.
He is a really good instructor. He explains things clearly and carefully, and makes physics enjoyable. He really makes you learn the material, but it is fun and enjoyable with him. His lectures are entertaining. Great guy!
He's a great guy. Very funny and explains physics very well. Even though I got a D in the class, it was probably mostly my fault. I would take him again for another class.
Could we please have more teachers like Him?
This guy is the best ever! HE is VERY thourough in the lecture and takes questions after each concept. Wish all professors were like him!
Nice teacher...I recommend this teacher! I was usually not good in science, but Larry really helped me out!
One of the best teachers I had at SCC! He has a real passion for what he teaches, and is very concerned that you learn the material. Not the easiest class, but an A is very achievable if you're willing to work hard. Definitely take him if possible.
I failed twice but that was my fault not his. Best teacher to take for physics, you will learn alot. Very funny.
This is a very good professor. Take him here at SCC than someone at UCF or valencia. Very thorough.
One of the good Teachers i have seen in my major of engineering. He Knows his stuff, though the tests are hard but all u gota do is do ur h/w and u will be fine at times he curves but don expect that very often, i did the h/w's and passed the class.
He is a good teacher but you must be disciplined to take his class. You must do your homework and study everyday. This is a must for his tests. His tests are very difficult. This class is defenitly not an easy A. You gotta work hard for it.
Great teacher. Very clear as relates life situations to his lectures. Leaves plenty of time to ask questions. Keeps the subject of physics interesting and has a funny personality.
Never had physics in highschool, but he got the point across very effectively. Uses a lot of diagrams to explain the concepts. The tests were hard, but if you followed the lecture and text they were manageable.
This guy proves to me that God exist and He is funny
took the 6 week summer session
The coolest guy ever! Take him if you can!
This professor is witty and genuinely committed to the success of his students. He backs up his lectures with real-life examples that make the class easily digestible even to those with little or no math background. Funny, but curses like a sailor.
Very good teacher. Made the class interesting and went around the whole classroom throughout the entire lab to answer questions and help us to understand the lab. You can take your time and never feel rushed. I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Great guy. Makes everything easy to understand.
He's a good teacher. Make sures everyone understands the material, if not, he'll go over it again. He's really clear. Do the homework sheet (its not graded), but it helps when you take the test.
this guy ROCKS. best teacher ive ever had. dont sleep on the course. he will test you. he really wants you to succeed. take him if you can.
if u don't take his class then you will a looser. even if u don't get A still u will like him. he is very funny and his notes are great. the course is challenging, as real world is challenging, so his tests are challenging. please do Homework. and try to get as much points as possible from tests,HW,lab etc. i'm sure u will like him and the class.

Fantastic teacher, on eof the best at SCC. HE takes time to explain the material, and if you dont understand he will go back and do it again for you. Has flexible office hours if you need to see him. Class is a bit challenging, but just do your homework and study and you will be fine. You must take him, believe you wont regret it.
Had him for a lab class, can drone on a bit, but he is easy. You have to come to class, cannot make up labs. He does drop your lowest lab grade though, and counts the second lowest twice. Over all, a good experience.
He likes to get off subject and talk about other physics stuff. He explains stuff really well, and is very helpful when you have a problem. He gets upset when you show up late or don't pay attention. Just show up on time pay attention and you will have fun.
Mr. Bigelow is a great teacher he really cares that his students succeed he's very down to earth and his course is very organized and he makes a tough subject easy to understand and master if you study and do the work just make sure you attend class!!!
Best instructor to date. Very demanding, but you will be prepared for the next level.
The best professor I've taken at SCC. Extremely clear, knows his subject, and hilarious (if you like dry humor). Takes time to explain everything thoroughly, and will make sure students understand the subject before moving on. Highly recommended.
He moves at a slow pace as to not leave behind the slower learners. Regardless he's an amazing teacher, crystal clear in his lectures, and passionate about physics. He honestly wants you to understand how the world works when you leave, instead of being able to spout off useless facts. I highly recommend him.
He is an absolutely great professor, I made sure to have him again for the spring semester. He makes complex ideas more clear and simple, his lectures are excellent, and he is always happy to help you during office hours. If you need the Physics w/ calculus classes, take him!!!
This guy makes complex concepts understandable and easy to learn. I enjoyed his class would gladly take him again! I am a semi-old fart with life experience and worried about keeping up, but he made sure that everything he talked about was clear to everyone in the class. Can't ask for more than that.
Top quality at SCC. Crystal clear lectures. Uses a very explicit, visually-oriented problem solving strategy, so you are much less likely to get lost in the math/abstract concpets. Very inviting to questions during and after class. Ask lots of specific questions, there's not much he won't answer. You will learn A LOT from him.
The best professor I have ever had. He is great at explaining, answering questions, and making sure that you understand the material. Online quiz once a week and 4 tests. He drops your lowest test and 2 of your lowest quizzes, the final is optional. He has a sense of humor, makes you think, and swears sometimes.
GREAT TEACHER!!! dont even THINK about taking someone else. FUNNY guy, SO helpful, and great at explaining the material. SCC needs more teachers like him!!
Words cannot describe how GREAT This teacher is. I had him for both Physics 1&2 w/Calc and I enjoyed every second of everyday i was in his class. Bigelow BY FARRRR, is the best teacher I've ever had. As long as you read the book and do all the homework getting an A is HIGHLY LIKELY. BTW he makes physics extremely easy with his crystal clear lecture
BEST BEST BEST teacher ever! I made the mistake of trying to take PHY2049 without him. I'll be taking it with him next sem. He is so structured, knows what he's going to say and write for the entire class period. Does not go off on tangents (but will explain anything physics related after class). He loves physics and teaching and it shows.
Professor Bigelow is quite simply the best physics professor I've ever had. He's crystal clear, explains the concepts thoroughly, and always sets extremely clear course goals. You know what's required of you, and you have the tools to accomplish it. Don't take anyone else!
One word: Humility. This guy has taught me how to be a better person by watching him interact with other people. More importantly he is a great physics professor and all the rumors about how thorough and great he is are true. Took his class for Physics 1 and 2. Truly a top teacher at Seminole State College!
LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! Mr. Bigelow is doing what he is called to do. Lectures are interesting and fun. You have to study due to the nature of the material, but he will explain anything necessary. He could be working at NASA making bank, but instead he chooses to share his knowledge & passion of physics with students. Such a cool guy!
Professor Bigelow is a brilliant and terrific professor. The tests are strictly from his lecture and exercises in the book. You must attend and keep up with the online quizzes though. He stresses the availability of his office hours and is more than happy to help you. First class professor!
Professor Bigelow is the best professor at SSC: bar none. I took him for physics w/ calculus I and II and he was phenomenal. His teaching methods/approaches are revolutionary, he grades fair, he's always there to help, and he basically defines the criteria for what a true professor/educator should be. TAKE HIM!!!
I honestly love the way Mr.Bigelow teaches. There is no doubt in my mind he is one of the best professor in Seminole State. However he will grade very hard on his test (reasonable) because he expects nothing below perfection. 5 major test, homework is online, and labs are fun. Very picky on following his ways, do as he says. I think i failed.
Mr. Bigelow is an excellent teacher. But be warned, if you are trying to keep all A's, you most likely can't make an A in this class. Grading is very harsh. Also, all tests are based off of the examples he does on the board. Will you learn physics with him? Yes. Would I personally take him again for physics? I'm not sure.
Prof.Bigelow teaches Physics in a way that allows you to visualize the concepts. He's entertaining and it's obvious he truly loves to teach. The most enjoyable class I've had yet. Not an easy class but if you pay attention, it's not hard to be successful. Just ask questions, he will always find another way to explain so you understand.
Professor Bigelow belongs in the "Teachers Hall of Fame." Physics can be very difficult to understand, @ least it was for me. He taught it in a way that was easy to understand & moreover he made it fun. Who knew! Although the class was hard for me, I really enjoyed it. Made me look at many things in a new way. He is a true asset to SSC.
Clearly presents the information, very approachable for in class questions and at office hours. Strong knowledge of the material will be required for a good grade.
Larry Bigelow is arguably the best teacher I have ever had the chance to have a class with. While the material may seem overwhelming, his lectures make the book seem almost unnecessary. I had him for Physics I, and am currently taking him for Physics II. Also, in advance, you will find out, "this stuff will make you give up sex and drugs".
By far the best Professor at this school. Extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. Mr. Bigs really makes this physics stuff somewhat bearable. I 100% recommend him and would definitely take him again for physics. (Thank God I don't have to though)
He is a great professor. The lectures were informative and he really wants students to learn and will help students to understand however he can. I got a B in his class and I had a 4.0, because the tests were hard. There is online homework that are quizzes and you will need the book for the tests. Not an easy class.
Big is one of the best professors at ssc, His lectures are great, good examples, great clarity. His tets are like 3-4 analytical problems and then 30 conceptual. His analytic test questions are sometimes tricky. overall from what i have heard about the other profs, Big is the best. an important prof, for an important class
Professor Bigelow is a great professor. The concepts are really not that difficult if you pay attention to the class lectures. I really enjoyed his explanation in the electronics section. He makes the class enjoyable and easy to take. The tests are easy enough that you do not have to study the book to closely. It is important to take good notes.
Professor Bigelow is definitely one of the best at Seminole state. He is amazing when it comes to lecture and helping you understand the material. His class also has plenty of points besides the tests to help swing your grade. Just take time on the homework and learn the analytical parts well. Very enjoyable classes and is always there to help.
Unlike everyone else, this class was brutal for me. I've never been into science but I tried my absolute best& ended wan 68.6 which isn't like me. He gives examples& is helpful but his tests killed my grade. I'd study tb, notes& quizzes go in thinking I knew the stuff, take the test thinking I passed but ended up disappointing myself each time!:(
Bigelow is a great professor, Phy 2 w calc is tough , no lie. The first test is really tough , strongly advise to meet him for office hours because he will really clarify stuff. Read the book before class, even bring it aswell , Note taking is essential, he started putting pdfs but they dong have all the notes. Great prof, for a great class
Fantastic teacher! I would take again in a heart beat. He's one of the reasons im so excited about engineering. Very funny guy and reasonable expectations. Keep up with the mastering physics though. Take notes, go to class, ask questions. He doesn't lie when he says the more questions the class asks the better overall grade. Go to his office hours!
You will miss him after you take him. He does such a thorough job explaining each topic necessary. You have to study, its a physics course. Do not hesitate in asking him questions. His methods prepared me for Physics 2 & Statics at UCF and is a better teacher then anyone I've met in his field thus far. If you have the ability take him for PHY1 & 2.
Professor Bigelow is the best professor I have had in my entire college career - 4 years. He is clear, concise, humorous, and extremely intelligent. I wish I could take him for the rest of my courses!
Professor Bigelow is great! He has a great sense of humor and really cares about his students. You must study to pass. It is not an easy A, but he makes it interesting and fun!
Don't be fooled. He turns the lights off and with his awfully tiny hand writing spends the entire 75 minutes talking in a monotone voice about concepts that sound easy, until you take the quizzes which he does not review and are entirely more complicated than his lectures. No study guides for his 3 tests or review for the final
He was nice but would go over material in class that sounded pretty easy then you would go home and do the quizzes and they were way more in depth then what we learned. I also found that's how the test were and unfortunately he doesn't give any study guides for the test. There are 3 test and a cumulative department final.
Took this professor just because of the high ratings.... Would give 4 example problems that were quite a lot easier than the ones on the test. Dudes an awesome teacher, and I feel like I know physics well.. But seemed like a sense of ego on his tests in terms of how hard they were.. Also, homework was incredibly hard and he had graded attendance..
If you go to class you will learn a lot. He explains everything very thoroughly. He gives quizzes at the beginning of almost all classes but you can use your notes and talk. Test have a conceptual and analytical part. Overall great teacher. He will work with you during office hours if you need more help
I took him for physics 1 and loved him so much I am taking him again for physics 2. The material is super hard (I don't understand calc) but I still ended with a B+ in physics 1. He is so patient and cares about his students understanding of the material. He's funny too. Best professor I have ever had!!
Amazing professor. If you're planning on studying any form of engineering, I would highly recommend Bigelow. He really helps you understand the key concepts behind a lot of his physics problems. Anyone complaining about him being too unfair of a professor is in for a rude awakening when they make it to their higher-level engineering classes.
Great professor, difficult testing. Funny and makes the class interesting. Partial credit is good, focuses heavily on conceptual physics. Testing is exponentially more difficult than the examples/homework. Study hard and often and use his office hours for clarification. Makes you work hard for your grade, good luck.
Professor Bigelow is the best! I took him for Physics 1 and 2 and he is the best Physics teacher at Seminole State College. :) He really takes his time teaching the material so that you know every detail about Physics. But be ready to work, he doesn't just give you the A+ you have to work for it. He gives partial credit and has lots of office hours
Prof Bigelow lectures are arguable where I did not find it useful and I had to teach myself, his Tests are longer & more advanced than in class problems, no Test Reviews,no Extra Credit, homework&quizs has nothing to do with any test.
Prof Bigelow prepares you as an engineer student. He gives lots of homework and quizzes in the morning to practice for the tests. A lot of hard work is required to pass this class. He has plenty of office hours when ever you need help. He is an amazing teacher but in order to be successful, you need to put a lot of time in this class.
One of the worst professors I've had the displeasure of taking. He makes a simple class like conceptual physics so difficult for no reason. He is so egotistical and thinks that just because he knows physics he's better than everyone else. Don't take him if you want to keep your sanity!!!!!!
You will work damned hard to get that A if you want it, but if you were able to get an A then you truly have learned physics. He knows his subject and he knows how to teach it to people. Lots of in-class demos and experiments to show you exactly how it works and how it connects to your career. Very engineer oriented though.
Professor Bigelow was overall a great choice. Dumbs down to physics to be understandable. Quiz almost everyday only 2?'s. 3 tests and a final. Listen and take good notes and you'll pass. Let's you use index card with notes on all tests and quizes. Highly recommend!
Pretty solid choice for physics 1&2. Overall if you are invested in the lectures and try to do the homework you'll make out with a decent grade. His office hours are nice, any help you might need with the class you can get from him during officer hours. Do not be afraid to ask questions you might have in class too.
Highly recommend! Really great professor. He makes everything so easy to understand. He lectures every day but they are easy to follow! As long as you take notes you'll get an A.
I had him for physics 1 and he made that class amazing. I would definitely take him again for any other class he teaches. This is the teacher you want, trust me.
Amazing professor. I would highly recommend if going into the engineering/computer science field. Daily participation quizzes, weekly homework assignments, few labs, and 5 exams. Exams have MC portion based on daily quizzes and he tells you exactly what's on the written portion (plus final replaces the lowest exam). Very kind and respectful guy.
It is rare to find a Physics professor who really wants you to learn. This course, and the material, isn't the easiest class to take. However Professor Bigelow is always there to help you if you have questions about homework or quizzes. He wants you to succeed and will push you to think critically tailored to physics and not the lab alone.
I love him
Amazing professor, very kind and understanding. He has a lot of office hours and is always willing to clear up anything that was confusing during the lecture. You never feel dumb because he is always willing to answer questions with enthusiasm. Great professor would absolutely recommend him to another student.
I took him for Physics W/Calc 2. He was an amazing professor and taught very well. The reason I didn't give him a 5 is for two reasons. 1) His tests are pretty difficult. 2) My final grade was 89.79 which is 0.21 points away from an A, and he refused to round up. He only rounds up if you have an A average on the tests.
Overall amazing professor, he is very understanding and always willing to help you understand, without making you feel dumb. Due to coronavirus, the class was transferred to online. During this time he filmed a lecture three days a week, on regular class days to help students keep up with the material. I would definitely take him again.
Kind and caring professor! Give us weekly homework that is easy. He starts the class with small quizzes. It is a lot of memorization. He allows an index card worth of notes for the test. The test also have an "essay" question. His extra credit is simple but lengthy.
DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE. He posts 3 lectures and they are usually between 30 -40 minutes long. (His lectures are usually 3 hours long in school). He forces you to read the book and figure out the rest of the information that he didn't care to explain. This makes homework, labs, tests, and quizzes extremely difficult to complete.
I took Prof Bigelow pre-Covid and he was a fantastic teacher. I never took a physics class previous to his class and he worked and taught things to be understandable. A very essential thing I learned in his class was the "recipe" in order to solve problems. It may seem tedious at times but you will have a stronger conceptual understanding.
I took phy1020 online with professor Bigelow, and I loved it. His lectures were great and easy to understand and so was the homework and tests. He also was available all the time if you need help via zoom or email. Would take his class again!
