Class is really easy. Only grades are quizzes and tests and both are multiple choice, no essays. You don't need to buy the book. One of the best professors I've had so far.
Really easy class! Easy quiz's, SAME questions from the quiz are on the test, gives you a test review, don't really use the textbook and he is funny and laid back. What else do you need? Lectures are always entertaining.
He's super easy! If you show up the day before the test he goes over the review and basically gives you the answers. The online quiz before the tests contain the test questions. You have to TRY to not make an A.
Dr. Carter is super easy and really funny. Classes are always very entertaining. Highly recommend!
Before this class started I was not looking forward to it at all. I dont really care for political science. However, Professor Carter made it really entertaining. Probaly the only man who could make political science interesting at 8:00am. He is super funny and the class is easy. I learned a lot and will take his class again for sure!
Great teacher. Like the person in another rating said i had no interest in politics but Prof Carter made it very interesting and looked forward to going to class at 8 am. Taking him again next semester for POLS 2
Very Easy. Starts classes with clips of comedy shows. Funny professor that would keep you engaged. Turned a fairly dull subject into one of my favorite classes. Only downside is that class is at 8am, but worth it if you want a fun and easy A.
He is a really good professor. Not only is he easy, but he is super good. I am taking him during the wintermester and 40 out of 50 questions come from the quiz and the other 10 he gives them to you in a review. He is pretty funny also. He likes to say "how dumb are you" about how easy this class is. TAKE HIM
Dr. Carter is probably one of the best professors I've ever had! He's pretty funny and keeps the subject lively. The quizzes are online, you have two attempts to take it, open book/notes, take as long as you need, and you can even start it and come back to it later to finish (need the book for the quizzes). The test is easy as well. Easy A!
He is the best professor ever! Explains everything so great as is very charismatic and adorable. He will explain everything that will be on the exam as long as you attend class. EXTREMELY recommend you take his classes!
Excellent professor he gave 3 partial and Final exam Total 4 Exam 50 multiple choice, 4 quizzes online (Blackboard) 25 question in multiple choice two opportunity. He is seriously ,but sometimes he is funny, the class is so interesting and NO bored. I recommended 100%
Seriously, you could not have an easier professor. He's hilarious and understands that his class is a pre-req. If you fail this class you need to go to trade school. Don't mess with him though, he will kick you out without hesitation if you cause distractions. EASY A.
Easy class! Gives reviews prior to test, and Blackboard quizzes and reviews are exactly the same as test!
super easy A; just do the quizzes and he'll review what's on the exams before the day of the exams.
Clear expectations, minimal effort, just do the quizzes and you'll be fine.
Hilarious, actually made texas gov somewhat fun. And he even says that he knows its a pre req so he basically hands you an A. It's up to you to do the quizzes on blackboard (open book and no time limit!) which are half of the exam and then the rest of the exam he gives you at the review. Seriously come on! if you fail, yikes!
HE IS THE BEST! TAKE CLASS WITH HIM! enough said :D
Best poli sci professor. Hilarious
Dr. Carter does not take roll but he does give daily quizzes. He is hilarious and makes lecture interesting. You actually have to try REALLY hard in order to fail his course.
He is hands down the best professor I have ever had! Funniest guy ever and very helpful. Makes class very interesting and you will learn a lot! He gives test reviews the day before the test and test are easy. He gives test questions in his lectures so going to class will help but it's not mandatory. TAKE HIM!
Easiest class I've ever taken. Only need to do 4 classes in the semester and still get easy A. If somehow you miss an A he gives some extra credit work which means you just have to go to class an extra day.
Professor Carter has to be the best professsor at UTA. He's interesting, funny, laid back and tests you on only what he covers in lectures with no suprises. You won't be using the text book much in his class but they come in handy for quizzes. Also, his reviews are extrememly helpful. Definately take this class if you need it.
Attendance is not mandatory but showing up to class is important b/c he talks about things that will be the exam during the lectures. Other than that everything else is easy. The quizzes on blackboard are open book and has no time limit. Half of the question on the exam will be from the quizzes and the other half is on the review and lecture.
I took both of my pols classes with professor Carter. He is THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER! i wish all professors at uta were like him. He is very helpful, understanding, fun and he knows how to TEACH! he is simply an example of great professor! God bless you Dr. Carter. we love you!
He's hilarious and an excellent teacher.
He is very entertaining and has funny opinions. He makes the class and the tests easy. Only gives quizzes and tests and good reviews. Attendance is not mandatory but is recommended. Even though the class is easy, he does not tolerate any talking, texting, etc. during the lecture. As long as you pay attention, it's great!
Easy course and professor. I went to the first classes before taking the first test and quickly realized that I didn't need to attend in person anymore. Got an A on all of the exams without attending. He is really funny though, had my class been later in the day I would have went everyday just for the entertainment value.
This Guy is Absolutely Great!!! If you are wanting an easy A, take him! He gives you everything you need to make an A, straight memorization!
All i can say is Dr Carter is amazing!
Carter is one of the easiet professors i have ever taken. If you want an easy A definitely take him. I didnt attend class after the first exam realizing that i didnt really need to especially because I had an early class and did perfectly fine. he gives you every thing you need to make a good grade, so there is no way to fail his class
A wonderful teacher even though I didn't go to class much. quizzes online are half of the test. very fun and interesting during class and lets you leave early and helps us have days off, like for spring break. Very wonderful teacher! I'd love to take him again, if he teaches anything else.
Super easy and super fun!! Take him!! You'll get an easy A. Quiz answers are online and if you go to the reviews you're set for the class!
GREAT PROFESSOR! Simple class, easy to follow, not a difficult class. Quiz = half of test, In-class notes/ PowerPoints = other half of test. Attendance not mandatory, but recommended so you can get the better information, and sometimes be at more of an advantage than others who don't attend the class. No stress at all. EASY, MUST-TAKE CLASS!
His lectures are interesting. Learnt a lot about current political scenario. He literally gives you the questions on the review class! Never felt bored in his class.
Take Carter if you can. Easy tests, easy online quizzes. No book. Attendance is not mandatory but go because he gives out answers to exam questions. He cares deeply about PoliSci and you can tell in his lectures. I personally dislike politics, but his enthusiasm kept me engaged in a topic I don't like. Would take again.
Easy A. Half of the exam questions are from the quiz which are 25 ques and the other half are from lecture. He will tell youwhat questions he will put on exam! Attendance is not mandatory but i would suggest you go to get those questions
Larry Carter is the man! His class lectures use real time scenarios and he is very detailed about them. I made an easy A in his class with little studying. He's a great guy and plus, he never makes you stay the whole time.
One of the BEST teachers I've ever taken in college. His class is super EASY and his lectures are interesting and funny. Four exams, and half of the questions come EXACTLY from the online quizzes, which you can just google the answers to. I never used the book. Attendance is not mandatory. I'm taking him for POLS 2312 as well. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Keeps the class interested with his way with words! Great lecturer! Enjoyed, and hope to take him again! No attendance but gives little easy quizzes for points quite often, best to attend, you won't regret!
Dr. Carter is one of the best professors I have had at UTA. He is absolutely amazing. He provides a quiz before each test and all the 25 questions from the quiz are on the actual test, so you basically know half of the test before hand. If you attend his lectures, you should definitely pass with a high A.
The funniest and easiest professor of my freshman year! You have to SHOW UP for class because he gives out TEST questions that are NOT in your textbook. The ONLY time you READ the book is to look up the answers to the quizzes (4) online where you can back and forth on. Plus if you mess up, you have 2 attempts for quiz and can ask him for right one!
Best Professor ever. Hilarious. Would easily take this class again
Super funny professor. 4 mandatory tests but they are not that hard. Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Carter is hilarious! Makes class interesting and enjoyable.
EASY A. TAKE HIM! He does 3 quizzes 1 per exam & all the questions from the quiz are on the exam. The other 25 Q&A's come from lecture & he even gives some hints for the exam. If you come to class & barely pay attention you should be fine. He's really funny and shows fun videos before class. He makes learning POLS fun. You won't regret taking him!
Super easy. Just do the quizzes and pay attention in class. Also, do NOT use your phone in class. He's a down to earth type of dude. I liked him! You need the book for the quizzes.
EASY A. TAKE HIM! nuff said
He is hilarious, his class is very easy. There is a total of 4 quizzes and 4 exams. You will need to take a quiz before each exam, but all the questions on the quiz will be on the exam. The other 25 questions will come straight from his lectures; hints on a few Q&A from the exam will be given during class. You will need your book for the quizzes.
Dr Carter was my favorite teacher coming to UTA. He is not only great at teaching, but he is very hilarious. His classes are easy A's, half of the questions on midterms are on the homework, but the rest comes from his lectures. Sometimes it will have random questions that you will have to attend the lecture, but the lecture was most of the time fun
He is a really funny guy and he usually lets class out early. He gives quizzes online that are worth 20% of your grade. Half of his tests are questions from the quizzes. He gives the other half of the questions basically during lecture and during review. Show up, do the quizzes, and you can easily make an A.
He provided help for the test but part of the test is what is current and discussed in class. Just keep up what is going on currently.
Dr. Carter is hilarious. Not too hard, but you do have to read the book and study. Would take again
Easy A. Gives four 50 question tests; 25 questions come from the assigned online quiz verbatim, the other half come from topics covered in class. Do your online work, and respect him during lectures by actually listening and not being on your phone. (He likes to throw people out of class)
Best teacher I have had in a very long time. If you don't pass his class you weren't made for college.
Half the test questions come from the quiz online. Easy A
One of the best teachers I've had since High School.
Really funny guy. Tests are super easy, only 50 questions; 25 come from the online quiz and he gives a couple out during class. Don't go on your phone or be late because he likes to kick people out for being disrespectful. He has a hard time with the computer and jokes about throwing it out onto Cooper. Would take him again.
Dr. Carter is one of the best profs I've had (I had him for POLS 2312). He's so funny, but honestly the humor is a little dry and snippy, which I personally am a fan of. He's very sarcastic. He will call things like he sees them. He is a balanced person and does not push any agenda, which is good when you have a general government class. Easy class
Easy class. Go to class, his lecture and powerpoints are the test. NO BOOK REQUIRED. Keep up with TX and US politics while in his class. DON'T DISRESPECT HIM. DON'T BE LATE FAM. Hilarious guy.
Don't buy a textbook for this class, instead just attend the lectures, because he tells you what is going to be on the test and respect him during class. Go to class and pass all of your quizzes, then you should get an A.
I took Dr. Carters class for summer 2016 for 2311 and he is the easiest grader. Since, it was a 5 week class, I had two exams for this course and 4 online quizzes. There are 50 questions in the exam out of which 40 questions come from the online quiz and the rest he gives during his lectures. I totally recommend taking his class.
I hardly tried in this class. If you miss too many classes he drops you a letter grade (almost worth it considering how boring lectures are). Going to class helps a little, he spends the first portion of class on current events which will be 10-20% of each exam but the rest come directly from online quizzes which you use the book and get 2 attempts
Super easy class. Prof. Carter is so funny and doesn't teach based on his own beliefs & simply presents facts. I took advantage of this class and barely went but that hurt my grade so while attendance isn't mandatory, it's definitely encouraged because a lot of the test material is stuff that is strictly in his lectures & not the book.
Dr. Carter is funny, doesn't care too much on killing you with tests! Honestly, show up to class because he actually tells you what's on the test excatly word for word plus current events (last 25 questions), plus the first 25 questions on the quiz are on there VERBATIM! NO TEXTBOOK, WASTE OF MONEY!
I'm pretty lucky to have him in the Fall 2016 semester cause he was able to keep us updated with what was going on currently in the elections between Clinton and Trump, got a lot of test questions from there! Plus he gave us 10 extra bonus points for this event! It's definitely not needed since his whole class is SUPER easy! Show up to class!
Dr. Carater is the boss! Just show up to class! Simple as that! And please, don't buy the textbook! Quizzes questions show up on test word for word! Study the numbers on his power points plus the questions he says!
Easiest professor ever!! Just show up to class! I didn't do didly squat and still made a 100 on EVERY TEST! With bouns I had a 110!! Can't wait to take him over the winter break!!
He claims his class is the easiest class you will take in college. By far the funniest professor you will have as well. WAYYY BETTER THAN MILLSAP. Lectures are very enjoyable. Definitely don't waste your money on the book, he tells you what will be on the test. Super easy A. You will regret taking anyone else!!!! Very very very good professor!!!!!
Dr. Carter is hilarious and makes political science fun! He recycles quiz questions on the test so you already know half of them beforehand. The other questions are taken from current events discussed in class and lectures. It's one of the easiest classes I've taken at UTA. Take him if you can. He is objective on political matters and a great prof!
Dr. Carter is THE EASIEST professor EVER!! Honestly, no research papers, no group projects, no essays, NOTHING but 4 tests and quiz, half of which comes from online quiz VERBATIM! The other half he gives in class IF you attend class. His winter class is even easier because ALL the quiz questions are on his 2 tests. Even easier than Dr. Saxe tbh!!
Dr. Carter is the easiest professor! One of my favorite professors. Makes lecture fun and is SUPER hilarious. I actually look forward to this class. 4 tests and quizzes, the quiz is half the test. The other half of the test he gives/tells in class. Take him and you won't regret it!
Easiest professor, very funny. The quiz questions are half of the test so there's no way you can fail.
Very easy exams, the online quizzes make up the first 25 of the 50 questions. There are one or two extra credit opportunities. He's a pretty chill, funny professor. GO TO CLASS if you miss class 10 or more times, he drops you a letter grade. The final is just like the other exams, not cumulative.
Take him period !! He is chill and a funny dude .Go to class the way he teaches class moves fast anyways . Pay attention he gives some questions that will be on the exam and get a easy A !!
By far the easiest professor i have ever had. He takes attendance and drops you a letter grade if you miss 10 or more classes. He gives a 25 question quiz before every test and the 25 questions from those quizzes are exactly the same as those on the 50 question test, the other 25 questions come from his lecture.
MWF mornings aren't so bad since he is super funny. He's an old guy who says what he wants and does what he wants! Don't bother coming to class if you're already 30 min late into his 50 min class just to sign in, he'll most likely kick you out. Silence your phones if you want to use it! He is awesome && if you don't pass this class.... good luck
Carter is the best UTA professor you will ever have. He's hilarious, has interesting lectures, and lets class out early at least 90% of the time. Even the tests are easy, so if you fail the class, he will not feel bad for you! Easy A if you just pay attention.
Carter is a funny professor who wants his students to have fun learning political science. Although attendance is mandatory he gives all students 9 free absences. Go to his lectures because he gives out answers to the test every-now-and-then.
If you didn't make an A (or passed for that matter), than you either didn't show up to class at all, or you didn't do the extra credit he offered. Gives most test questions in class worded like the test! Gives quiz where questions show up verbatim, and gives funny lectures. Really looked forward to this class due to the stress free enviorment!
Wow, best professor ever! Dr. Larry Carter was an amazing professor. It was super easy to pass his test and his lectures were cool to go too. Nicest professor you'll meet and his super funny and sarcastic. Would definitely take him again if I could.
Professor Carter is a awesome professor. He is hilarious and gives test answers in class so go to class. Attendance is also impacts your grade so go to class. Overall this was my favorite class this semester.
Easy A. 4 quizzes and 4 tests. Each quiz is 25 questions from the book but they're on quizlet too and those questions make up half of every test and are the first questions. Tests include questions from lecture only and attendance is graded
Dr. Carter is the best. The review right before me has got this all wrong! His lectures are hilarious and actually got useful information about the government in which we are a part of in Texas. He's really easy as long as you do what your suppose! He hates slackers and loves try hardship! If you work hard, you'll get along with him very well!
"If you fail this class, you should rethink college."
Dont buy textbook, you only use it for online quizzes so you can just google the answers instead. If you just show up to class on review day you can pass and maybe even make an A. Going to class is good too though cause he will put a few random questions on the test like the capitol of Canada but he will tell you in class. He is funny.
So, attendance is not mandatory but you should most definitely go, his exams are mostly over the things he talks about, and he will tell you "on the exam i will ask you.... and the answer will be...." & at the end of the semester he'll give you extra points for good attendance. Also the quizzes are EXTREMELY easy.
Larry is one of the funniest professors to have graced UTA. His tests are extremely easy and his quizzes are all on quizlet and google. I would take him if you just need the class to get on with everything else. Easy GPA booster.
Carter was awesome. makes class really fun and shows current events at the beginning of class which is cool. he makes a lot of test questions out of stuff that he says in class that don't relate to Texas Gov, so you have to come to class to get those questions. overall, take him, you won't regret it
Had him for both Govt classes and all I can say is take him. He's really straight forward, there are no tricks to his tests cause he literally gives the questions to you in class IF and ONLY IF you show up to class, plus the online quizzes in the excat same order! Dr. Carter rules! He's also into current events and other things unrelated to class.
He is absolutely hilarious. Very funny guy. Has a clear grading criteria and requirements. Very easy to pass the class. Need textbook to complete online quizzes, which are very easy. Half of test comes from quizzes and half from lectures. Does go off topic sometimes, but that off-topic info is still on test. Don't be LATE if you sit upfront. Hehe
Easy A. Highly recommend attending class as he always says about 3-5 things that will be on the test in lecture that are not in the book or lecture notes. He announces what the exact question will be. Didn't even crack open the book. Quiz questions can be easily googled. Attend the review and you'll be good.
Best professor at UTA so far. Take this class and you will pass with an A. If not then you need to reevaluate your life. He's funny and his test are easy. He gives u a quiz with 25 questions that come from the test. Go on review days!! He will go they the whole test. The text book is online but I didn't even use it. Make sure you get Larry!!!
Awesome professor!!! His exams are based off of his lectures. Take his online quizzes pretty serious because his exams have quiz questions (which he tells you). He take attendance & don't be on your phone, he will call you out and/or kick you out of class. His lectures are super entertaining !
HE IS SO AMAZING! Take him for sure, his tests are composed of 50 questions and he gives you 25 questions before the test. He is hilarious too, would definitely take him again!
He won't tell you if there is extra credit, but I suggest showing up to every class because he states at random points during the lecture, "This will be on the test.." And gives you the question and answer. Easy points if you show up to lecture and listen for those words.
He uses the same jokes over again, but they're great. Didn't wind up using the textbook. He goes fast through lecture, though. Exams are half-copied questions from the quiz, and half from current events in Politics he mentions in class (or just stuff like the capitol of Canada). Does not tolerate tardiness, even for an 8am. Expecting an A or B.
Professor Carter is very funny and kind, and his class was a piece of cake for me. Just take the quizzes, study them, and then study the reviews he always gives and you'll have reviewed all fifty answers to the exams. Towards the middle of the semester, as people stopped showing up to class, he offered extra credit to the ones who did show up.
Prof. Carter is intelligent and very funny. Did not attended 70% of the lectures still got A grade. He gives answer worth 50 points already in the quizzes. So, you need to cover next 50 points in which 30 points are achievable by reading review questions and 20 points by reading politico news. easy A.
Professor Carter is the best. He gives 4 tests and 4 quizzes. The tests are 50 multiple choice questions that include 25 quiz questions that are copied and pasted. Show up to lectures and you will get an A!
One of my favorite professors at UTA. If you don't pass his class then there must be something wrong with you. Quizzes are easy as well as exams. I recorded his lectures which definitely helped too and I can go back and listen to what he says about current events, etc. don't be late to class and ALWAYS be prepared for your exams! Easy A class.
I took this professor for a winter class. But he, by far, has become my favorite professor here. He lets you know what is on his tests ahead of time and often uses his quizzes (which he makes as easy as possible) word for word on his exams. But you need to read! Some thing you cant know otherwise. Over all he is an amazing professor. Good Luck!
Super easy class!! If you have veins then you can pass this class lol wish all teachers were like him attendance counts
He's a really easy going Professor. If you do the quiz's you'll get an A on the exams. The tests are made up of most of the quiz questions, and the questions he puts that aren't from there, he specifically tells you what he's going to ask. Couldn't have asked for an easier professor! I also recommend taking him for winter or summer session.
Only grades were quizzes and tests. Quizzes were 25 questions and due the day of the test, and all quiz questions were on the test (in order). He took attendance a few times but it was never a grade. Super easy.
Took him over the winter, just a great guy. Everything was a breeze gave you all the answers to the test practically. Just don't eat in his class, because he will get pissed and curse at you. Other than that he is just a funny and personable guy that makes the lectures go by pretty quick.
Carter's class is VERY easy, but that's not why you should take him. His lectures are his strong suit. He will tie in current events to his class to keep students informed, and he likes to explain the material in terms of what's happening today. Not to mention, he's got a ton of great jokes and he's just a funny guy. Can't recommend enough.
I really enjoy the lectures very interesting. There 4 quizzes 25 questions and 4 exams 50 questions. Make sure to study the quiz the questions they are in order. Dr. Carter let's you know what's on the exam. He did take a couple times attendance for extra credit. I would recommend Dr. Carter he's the best. Good luck.
I had Dr. Carter for both State and Federal Government and let me just say that its been an honor to be in his classes! He's one of my favorite professors ever, not because he's an easy A but because he's so intelligent and comedic! It was worth showing up to class and listening him joke about politics while giving us the important information!
Very easy professor; 4 quizzes before each exam that have half of the exam questions beforehand; you can try them more than once; 100 points for the 4 quizzes, 400 points for the exams. 448/500 is an A.
Super easy. Show up to class and you will get an A. There are 4 tests (100 its each) and 4 quizzes (25 points each). The quizzes are really easy, do not waste your money on the book. The tests are a combo of the quiz and then 25 other questions.
This guy is amazing. The 25 question quizzes are all online, no lockdown browser. The 50 question exams contain the quiz questions and the other 25 questions he gives in class. He is very funny and caring, just show up and you'll pass. I will definately take him again if I could. He also gives out a lot of extra credit so show up to class.
If you need a blowoff class + easy A, Carter is your professor. Exams are comprised of 25 questions from quizzes (able to look up) and the other 25 are mostly from his tangents and not the actual PPT in lecture themselves. He talks more about current events and doesn't really teach if I'm being honest haha.
Dr. Carter was AMAZING! He definitely knows how to keep your attention by adding humor into what would otherwise be a boring class. 4 online quizzes with unlimited amount of time to take, 4 easy tests. He'll tell you exactly what is on the test to ensure you get a good grade. Easy A, fun professor. Take him!!
When i say this guy is the GOAT i mean it, funny lectures, extra credit for showing up, releases early/days off when possible test are very easy if you go to class for his reviews and study the quiz's, I took him for 2 different classes and i feel like he grew a special place in my heart. Sweet Old man, God Bless Larry Carter
There are only four grades which are the exams, they're all pretty easy if you have the book and attend lecture regularly. His lectures are great, he makes the whole class laugh, it really makes the lectures interesting. He's an adorable old man!
Dr. Carter is an amazing professor. I tried to take his class again but I got filled up so fast. The class isn't hard at all, all you got to do is show up, read the book and take the tests. There are only 4 test and half of the answers come straight out of the chapters. He's really funny but will LITERALLY kick you out of class for talking. 10/10
I personally LOVE going to this guy's class because he knows how to keep your attention. He's freaking hilarious and a good amount of his questions are from lecture.. SO GO TO CLASS! Honestly, JUST SHOW UP and you'll get an A as long as you just listen to him speak. He literally tells you straight up "This is a test question". TAKE HIM!
He is super chill professor and the whole class average is based on your exam grades. Even though your grade depends on exam grades, the questions on exams are exactly the same as the practice questions in the textbook. I really enjoyed his lectures because he incorporates humor so that what we learn is not boring at all.
Just show up to class and you'll do fine. Carter was awesome.
Really sweet man and wants you to pass. For 2311 he literally took half the questions from the book directly. The other half was lecture based. Really easy A and he tells you that in class. Funny, as well.
Larry Carter is one the easiest professors you'll take. Half of the test is literally the questions from the textbook, and the other half is I.D. Terms that he posts in blackboard. Honestly, you don't have to go to class, but I recommend it. His lectures are funny, and sometimes he'll give extra credit just for showing up.
Great professor. His exams can be found on quizlet. You don't even need to go to class.
Only graded3 tests and the NONCUMULATIVE (hell yeah) final. He's pretty funny and gives all the answers to the test in order the review before each test. 10/10 would take again. There's usually about 3 questions on the test over the book but I never read it and passed easily lmao. Only got a C because skipped the review and didn't study the review.
I say test heavy because your grade is only based on 4 exams- 3 midterms and a non-cumulative final. Test questions are pulled straight from the book. He does throw in questions over current events or random facts, and the only way to know those answers is to be in class. This class isn't stressful and Dr. Carter is an enjoyable professor to have.
EASY class with attending and take a few notes. He basically reviews the exam word for word the class before it so be sure to attend those. Textbook is mostly unecessary but 2-3 questions do come from there so follow the class groupme bc someone usually post the answer. Last month of class he gave out lots of extra credit, mainly when class empty.
Heard great things about him took the class and loved it. Great story teller/lecturer, you'll learn a lot for sure without trying. He gives extra credit randomly which is great too. The only thing that got to me was his short temper, never show up to class and leave in the middle unless you want to get chased out.
He does a review before each test, which basically helps with 90% of the exam. The rest comes from current events and facts he talks about during the lecture. At the end of the semester, he gave extra credit for coming to class. Very straightforward class and should be an easy A. There are 3 exams plus a final, which is non-cumulative.
Very funny guy! Lecture is optional because he literally just reads off of the slides, which he posts, and then his tests are multiple-choice. He knows he's teaching a class everyone needs to pass, and he isn't here to make it hard. He also gives some extra credit that can really pad your grade. Really great Prof overall
Take him and thank me later. EASIEST CLASS you will ever take in college. He gives a review the day before the exam, he tries to make class funny and offer alot of extra credit. (I skipped last for a month because I had some personal stuff) and I came back for the review and got a 93 on the exam! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Funny old guy whose lectures are also tied to current events. Attendance is extra credit after the first 5 classes. You're graded by only 4 exams for a total of 400 points but there is always a review the class before the exam and the review is very helpful. The exams are based off of vocab words and the review (without answers) is on canvas.
He's super chill. If I ever went to class, he was a delight to see because he's funny. All the tests are multiple choice and the questions/answers mostly come straight from the book. He just wants you to pass.
THE BEST
He is one of the best professors at UTA. He is hilarious and talks about current issues mostly. He has 4 exams and all you have to do is attend the reviews and read the questions from the books. He also gives extra credit for attending class especially during the end of the semester.
took summer class; everything is textbook based (online), he extended due dates, and gave four EASY essays, based on true and popular topics. MUST to get the textbook, but a lot of the quiz answers you could find on Quizlet
wish i had him for all of my political science classes.
There is a paper due every week based off of the readings in the textbook. His communication throughout the semester was broad and he gave no feedback unless asked for. You basically teach yourself the material.
Definitely one of the coolest professors at UTA! If you ever take a POLS class make sure you take him because it should be an Easy A for you. I marked him as one of those professors where I have to search again every time I enroll because unlike others, he doesn't stress you out & understand what you're going through. Easy A if you try to pass!
Took him for POLS 2311 & I loved it so I had to take him again for POLS 2312! You should be able to receive an A if you actually try and the class isn't that difficult to where you're stressing out. He's one of those professors where they're chill about their teachings and won't overload you with work. I recommend you take him for any POLS class!
Awesome lectures and very fun too. Homework and quizzes aren't too bad either.
Loved this professor! Definitely recommend him. He gave out quizzes throughout the semester which were online and did not require LDB, they were also open book. No exams, just essays that werent hard to write about if you knew what you were talking about. Although he did say he will NOT be doing essays next semester, he will give out exams!!
Honestly he is by far my favorite professor to date. His class is super easy and he tends to go off topic during lecture but all of his quizzes are open book with unlimited amount of time so its hard to fail his class. He does assign 4 essays throughout the semester but gives a lot of time to have them completed and he doesnt grade tough.
This semester, he canceled all exams; only had quizzes & 4 essays due to hybrid class mode. Lectured related to the material but didn't always teach what was on the quiz. I went to class for grading updates, interesting current events, & practical political info (through his anecdotes & rants), but most quiz content came from skimming the textbook.
The class was very lecture and book-heavy but overall a very easy history course. He has a few essays throughout the semester but they are simple prompts and only need to be a page long. There were quizzes over every chapter due at appropriate times. I know that in the past he would have less quizzes and more exams.
Due to COVID, being in-person for the first time since COVID and him knowing everyone would cheat on exams. He did all open note quizzes instead of tests. He also did 4 short free-response essays that took 20 mins to write and no final!
For the first 15-20 minutes of class, he goes over current events, and the rest of the time he lectures. He gives quizzes which are open book and essays every 2 weeks. It's a very easy class.
Dr. Carter is a very enthusiastic professor. His lectures are both informative and entertaining, which made me enjoy coming to class very much. It is inevitable that he will put a smile on your face. You will not regret taking him as your professor.
Definitely take him! Easy class to get an A. He's a chill professor that doesn't make the class hard. As a hybrid class, Dr. Carter cancelled all exams and just did quizzes and 4 essays. Quizzes were online and easily done by skimming the book. Essays were simple, no sources needed. However, he did say next semester will have exams.
Dr. Carter is always a joy to take, not to mention an "easy A." He always provides a good laugh, keeps you informed with current events, and is not afraid to speak his mind. The class was essay-heavy, although they were easy; two open-book exams, midterm and final, and one five-minute oral presentation.
Grades only consisted of 4 exams and 1 essay, attendance was not mandatory and all exams were open notes and book. The textbook which can be rented online is basically required to do well on the exams. The essay was graded very easily.
Basically the chillest class and teacher I've had. His lectures are pretty funny and entertaining but you are def good to skip them. His review days literally go over the tests though so def go to those. Entire class was 4 tests and 2 papers so easy W. If you just need it for the credit take him
There's a reason he's a 5/5. He makes the course very light for his students, reviewing for exams in the lecture before it, very clearly and concisely. There were 4 exams and one essay. The essay felt like a completion grade, considering I got a 30/30 within 2 hours of submission. The exams constitute most of the grade, but are open-book.
Dr. Carter may be the coolest professor in the POLS department. He's at least Top 3 of the ones I've had. Straightforward, honest, and hilarious are just a few adjectives I would use to describe his teaching style. Can't wait to take another class of his in the future.
there's a reason his ratings are so high. literally just try and you're getting an A.
By far one of the best professors here at UTA. Funny guy that genuinely seems to enjoy his job. As long as you try you'll get an easy A. 10/10 would take again!
He is an amazing Professor and his lectures are very fun and really knows what he is talking about. Him having experience in the field he teaches help relate the subject matter more. There were 2 open note tests, 4 essays, and 1 presentation for the whole class. Would recommend if you want a fun and essay POLS elective.
Talks more about whats happening in the real world in his lectures than what is in the book. His quizzes are open book. Has 4 critical thinking essays (grades lightly and never gives zeros).
Professor Carter was amazing and so much help. His exams were very easy and he always had a great review that was extremely helpful.
(Easy A) Professor Carter is amazing! I really enjoyed going to his class. The lectures are entertaining and funny. He mixes current events with course material. Attendance isn't mandatory but lecture-specific content will appear on exams.
Easy class to take. Only 4 exams, not a single other assignment. Exams are open book and you get a study guide. The guy also makes otherwise boring topics a little more interesting in his lectures. He is also very quick to get back to emails and such.
Very easy class, with only four exams in the whole semester. as long as you study for it, you will pass.
Easy A. Your entire grade is based off of 4 digital exams, they are all open note. The textbook has all of the answers, so buy the correct version and you will get a good grade. Lectures are recorded so attendance is not needed, I honestly never went. Carter wants his students to get A's so use his reviews + the textbook and it will be simple.
Take him! 4 open book exams. He gives a review two weeks before the exams that cover each question topic. He usually goes over the review, a lecture before the exam day. Easy 'A'. I never went to class and was able to watch the review sessions through his recordings. Very caring about his students as well.
4 exams, all of which are online and non-proctored. Easy A class
Textbook/lectures are not necessary TOGETHER but help with taking the exams. 4 exams make up your grade, but they are very easy as long as you somewhat remember things discussed in the chapter. No complex thinking, just know facts and you'll get by. Chill prof, so might as well attend lecture (we were usually let go early anyway).
Very easy class. Posts powerpoints and reviews them during class. Attendance not required. Carter is good at making actual funny jokes. Usually finished class early. 3 exams and a final, based off of the lectures and textbook. Pulls questions directly from ppts. and textbook.
His lectures could get boring, but you don't need to attend, although occasionally an exam question will come from information from the lectures. Four online exams, and that's it. He's approachable, and you can talk to him in case you need to reschedule something. Overall a nice guy and deserves thanks. Easy class.
Grades are from 4 exams open notebook. EASY A. Exam questions are directly from textbook or review.
Easy class, grades are based on 4 exams only. Attendance isn't mandatory. Not a learning or engaging class. Students were not allowed to participate and questions were answered in a rush. Class consist of reading slides so it can be extremely boring.
Exams are the only grades in this class but they are very easy. He gives you reviews that cover everything that will be on the exam. Easy A. Take him!
No homework, only exams. The exams were easy as long as you have some knowledge of what is going on in class, but there are many resources online that have study guides for his course. He is witty and usually very bright and in a good mood. DO NOT go to class if you are just going to talk with your friends. He will call you out and make yall leave.
So funny and sweet! the only grades were the exams and 1 essay, its the easiest A ever. you dont have to show up to the lectures. the class before exams he goes over the whole review and practically gives you the answers so definitely go on review days. the tests are also easy especially if you go to the review. 10/10 recomend and would take again!
Your only grades are four exam grades and attendance isn't mandatory. As long as you study accordingly you should be fine
Is this man real lmao. He's so funny and the class is really easy. TAKE HIM!!!
Graded by only 4 exams, final is not cumulative. Has a review session the class before each exam that has all the topics that will be on the exam. Each exam is 50 questions long and very easy as long as you study the review.
Carter is very easy, I was in his Honors class and the only assignments were 4 exams, a project, and 5 essays. His gives the terms for the exam review and basically says the answers to all of the question on review day. His essays are minimum 2 pages and very easy prompts. I believe though if you take his normal class, it is just exams.
Stopped going to lectures, only attended review sessions and made high A's on all exams. Review sessions is him defining 50 terms, exams are all multiple choice...VERY easy. Grade consists of 3 exams, 1 final. TAKE HIM!
Unpopular Opinion: Didn't really like his lectures. Nonetheless, I would still recommend. He literally gives all the answers on review day. Just make some friends if you happen to miss it, because you only have four tests for grades.
This class was super easy!! stopped showing up to lecture because his classes were also recorded. His reviews were basically him giving out all the answers. Definitely recommend taking him!!!
Regarding his teaching style there isn't much to say because not much was taught. Basically hands out As, exam material is elementary level. The whole point of college is to receive an education. Which I did not receive in this class. Overall if you want an easy A take this course if you want to learn don't.
Very easy class with him. There were four exams and he did exam preps, he pretty much gave the answers for each term. All you had to do afterwards was study that and do good on the exam. I made a 94 in the class and I only came on exam prep days.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! He provides online videos of all of the lectures and attendance is not mandatory. The textbook is part of tuition and you only need to show up for the 4 tests of the year. He provides good reviews, spend a day or two studying those reviews and you can get an easy 100 on each test. Watch his videos, he gives the answers!
Amazing professor, class was very easy. Based on exams only but he gives you an exam review that tells you everything that is on the exam. I would definitely take him again if I had too. Easy A
Straightforward class with 4 easy exams. Professor gives detailed review guides and lets you out early. Attendance is required but optional. Using Unstuck study along with the textbook helps simplify prep.
This professor is awesome. If you ask him questions about exams, he will answer them. He tells you what will be on the test in detail in class, so I strongly recommend you attending his lectures although attendance is not mandatory. Cons: There are no attempts for the exams. He will time you, so if you have ADHD, you may have a tough time.
The actual goat. Everything about this man is amazing and he is passionate about what he teaches. Pay attention to lectures (optional) and vaguely know topics for tests (4). That being said, he will call you out if you are disrespectful and talk to loudly in class. Too bad I think he retired end of Fall 2024. In case I'm wrong: TAKE HIS CLASS
