Professor Cohen is one of the best professors I've had of all my years attending OCC. He knows how to teach, he teaches what you need to know, he's very clear, and he definitely knows what he's talking about. He's always making the effort to be available for the students to go over review problems. He is just SO AWESOME!

Mr. Cohen is a wonderful teacher. He's very helpful and his class are fun and laid back. I ABSOLUTELY love his handouts. He made my first semester back at school after many many years a really good one! I hope to take his Cost Accounting class and Business Law class. Keep it up Mr. Cohen!!!!

EASY GREADER, GREAT GUY

Prof. Cohen is a very likeable teacher. He tries to make accounting as painless as possible. He is certainly qualified to teach the subject, as he holds a CPA, Masters, and is a practicing attorney. He spends most of the class time covering the material that will be relevant to understand and important for the quizzes and tests.

Quizzes are to the point and tests are very reasonable, covering the aspects laid out in class. Very laid back person and willing to answer questions. Should put a few students in their place when they disrupt the class. Otherwise, pretty smooth flow in lectures. He is also an all-around nice guy who knows his stuff. Recommend taking his classes.

He is awesome!! He is a good teacher, patient with his students and tries to help his students as much as he can. His tests are basically what we covered in class and are pretty easy if you really listen and pay attention in his classes. Always smiling and is a really nice guy. Bad handwriting cause he is a lefty but still simply AWESOME

Greatest teacher I have had so far. All the material covered is made crystal clear. His handouts are a great tool to fully understand the topics covered. He has a great sense of humor which is a plus and has very interesting stories. I wish that I could have him teach all of my accounting classes.

I thgt his clas very easy. I read each chapter, did homework(which takes very longtime to do), and didn't really study hard for the tests but still got A's. I think test easy cause he told exactly wut would be on them. Larry, you should make test less predictable by telling students a bunch of topics that might be on test so they study more broadly

Larry the Lawyer, he is the best and easy professor i have ever had. He Is Helpful and teaches with a great sense of Humor. (The PArticular Fund Doctrine!!) Hes Intro on the first day to class is awesome make sure to take him whatever he teaches.

I have a physics and engineering degree and enrolled in Pro. Cohen's class when I considered taking the CPA exam. He asked why don't I apply to became a science teacher in Chicago. With his advice I did exactly that an was accepted into a special program that hires people with math or science degrees to teach while earning my teaching certificate.

Knows how to teach. Very clear. Use the book a lot and yes you have hw everday but because of that you will know the material real well by the end of the semester. I hated Accounting before this but he made it real interesting.

Awesome techer one of the best

Awesome Professor! He is extremely laid back and funny just as long as you follow general classroom rules. He's not the professor who is "out to get you" and is always willing to help a student out. He doesn't really write on the board but is very good at explaining the material verbally and cuts to the chase.

Larry is an excellent teacher. We read the book, he explains the key points, and then we do the problems on the board. By the time we go through all the problems, each point is easily understood.

I enjoyed this course. I rated easiness at 4 because you are required to read the text book and do the homework; there's a lot of material. However, professor Cohen explains is as clearly as it can be explained. What I liked about his teaching style was that he taught what needed to be taught, trimming all the unnecessary stuff. You ONLY need the book and study guide. The WileyPlus thing is not required and I never used it. Larry is corky but fun. Class is pretty easy and he breaks it down to the simplest. You have to do one problem in front of the class, just copy the homework every week (needs to be checked on exam days). Quizzes/tests easy. Project is just a HW prob.

Short classes in the evening are like weekly presents. Likes to talk. Homework is pretty easy, and we present it in front of the class. Information is all in the book or handouts, but make sure you read and do the homework.

Larry is a great professor. I failed accounting prior to taking his class. He was very clear. He did give a lot of homework but I did it in class when we would go over it. Tests are the same as the homework. He is very approachable and answers any questions that you may have.

Professor Cohen believes in paper and pencil work, not because he's techno-phobic, but he says it does a better job getting the concepts in your head. I have to agree. He gives students plenty of opportunity to get points - extra credit, sometimes correcting test errors for partial credit. He knows his stuff and I feel better prepared for the CPA.

Arguably the best teacher at Oakton community college. I had very bad teachers this semester he is the polar opposite. He grades things on time hands it back notifies you whats coming up and how to prepare. Amazing work ethic that lots of teachers lack in Oakton. I recommend taking him not only will you learn but you will remember what he said.

Highly recommend professor Cohen. He builds such a great relationship with the students to make you feel comfortable and guide you through the right direction. He cares about you passing the class and understanding.

Professor Cohen is an excellent instructor. He can sometimes think highly of his students (which feels awesome), but he sometimes assumes we know certain things (which threw some students off). Ask plenty of questions, do the readings, and NEVER miss a class. Will definitely take Professor Cohen again if given the opportunity for other ACC courses

Third class I've taken with Cohen. Seriously my fave teacher at Oakton. I hated income tax accounting but he made it bearable!

First class with Cohen. I am going back for the CPA certificate course. I have been out of school quite some time, and start forgetting stuff. Larry teaching makes you understand the material but give you enough challenge to help you deepen your understanding which prepare you for the next course.

I have always believed that in order to be a great teacher, you must always remember what it was like to be a student. Mr. Cohen has never forgotten what that was like and hence is an excellent teacher. Yes, he expects you in class (ONTIME) and yes, you must listen and do work-do that and you will do great and learn. Attend classes and you will be alright

Larry is a really chill guy. He's a minimalist in his teaching style. No fluff. You either understand it or you don't. Clear cut and simple. He's a great teacher for that. He really sets you up for success on tests and quizzes and gives a few opportunities for extra credit, so take them!

Great Professor. Do not skip his class. Years of experience. Took ACC244 and I walked away with a lot of info from him. He goes very fast through the material - this is one objection I have - so pay attention and do not skip his class. You'll get points taken off. Funny guy too but this was no Mission Impossible for me :-)

There is not enough space here to describe how awesome Professor Cohen is. Take this course and no other. Absolutely show up but not even a minute late because he hates that, and that's it. Mr. Cohen is the best Accounting teacher at Oakton. His class helped me understand in debt, summarize and report financial statements. My investing strategies have improved ever since and picking good quality businesses to invest in has become easier. It would be a pleasure to take his class again!

I think I deserve only an A, because I have had the best Professor teaching me this class. Even though i was falling behind on homework, I found the course very interesting and understood the concepts pretty well, more than I expected of myself. For me it was very enjoyable :)

This guy has all the credentials needed to teach a class like Income Tax Accounting. CPA, Lawyer, etc. Not a hard class if you understand taxation. Tests are take home, multiple choice and fairly easy.

Professor Cohen was great for BUS Law. Hw was easy and straight forward. All quizzes and tests were take home. Very laid back and helpful. Textbook was heavily used in every class. It will be a MUST! 10/10 would recommend.

I've taken quite a few classes at Oakton but Prof Cohen's was by far the best. He knew so much about the subject, explained everything thoroughly, and didn't leave any questions unanswered. I usually hate when teachers tell stories and drone on and on about things that don't matter, but his stories were always engaging and interesting.

I would say that professor Cohen is a good teacher, but if you are 100% new to accounting it might be a little tough. He always summarize the most important parts of the chapters instead of going trough it all. The class always ends earlier and you need to read a lot. Overall, it's not hard to pass, but there is a lot of self study in this class.

Prof. Cohen is a good professor, he is definitely knowledgeable in his field. There is weekly homework to do online and on paper which at times can be a lot if you take a lot of classes but he is very understanding about submitting it later. I would take this class agin.
