Excellent prof, can't help be boring (it is econ) but improves lectures with stories and examples. Very easy going and considerate. Plus final exam was take home.
He is a great Prof.
Exceptional communicator that adds interest with stories and seems to care about students learning the material. Any questions he seems to make him self always available too. Perfect model for a professional instructor!
He's the best prof I've had thus far. He explains things very clearly and makes the class fun, which is hard to do considering it's microeconomics.
Without a doubt, my favorite professor here at the University of Toledo. His class is very low on busywork, and he has enough graphs and stories to go along with the concepts taught that you can't help but learn it. On top of that, he's just a generally nice guy. Take him for every economics course you can!
AWESOME
Excellent teacher. He's easy to understand, uses anecdotes to illustrate concepts, and is an entertaining professor overall.
He is the best! Notes are easy to understand and there is no need to buy the text. Always helpful and class is easy to pass. Love this prof!
He explained everything very well and kept it interesting. The only time I used the book was to catch up when I missed a class.
He is the best professor I have had at UT. Great Guy!
Great Professor. Three tests all weighted equally. Two one page papers, and a bit of random easy extra credit.
Good teacher. Go to class for bonus quizzes
He's kind of lame and boring but it's an easy class. He gives a lot of bonus quizes and some of the exams are curved. There are two papers for 25 points and the basic idea is that if you do them you get all the points. I would recommend this teacher.
Attend class and take notes. No book is needed if your there. This guy knows what he is talking about and is a great help!
Here's a guy that really loves his job. He teaches and he farms. Enjoys when students get involved. Classwork consists of 3 tests (no cumulative final), 2 one-page papers, and then pop bonus quizes. If you go to class, pay attention, and take some notes, you'll do fine.
I liked Prof Cook a lot, he was always in a good mood and genuinely enjoyed the subject. He taught you what you needed to know and tried to keep things simple. I appreciate the enthusiasm that he had and it was always enjoyable to be in the class
He is such an awesome prof i would ever had in my life! it's so funny to watch him getting excited when students answer his question and being smart. His lecture is very clear, and I love him very much! so sad i'm not majoring in econ..
Larry is a great teacher! He's a really nice guy and really wants the students to understand the material. Economics is a very boring topic but he does his best to make it interesting by giving real life stories that involve econ. I would really recommend him as a prof. He's the best economics teacher i've seen at UT yet.
By far one of the best professors at UT. Exams are fair as long as you show up and listen. If you show up you will be fine since he gives a lot of bonus quizzes.Mr.Cook is very clear and makes a lot of effort in helping students understand economics. Take this professor for any economics course he teaches.
Definitely my favorite professor so far. He brings such a passion about his subject to the classroom and it's one of the only classes I look forward to attending. As long as you go to class and pay attention, you'll do find. He's inspired me to try my hand at economics myself.
SO nice. one of my favorite professor. i decided to take the 2 hour class and he makes it enjoyable. he has plenty of examples and he's very fair. take him. you wont regret it.
Amazing person/teacher. Take him if you want a fun/fair class.
He is just AWESOME!!! So easy to understand, and loved his"food-oriented" examples lol. His exams are fairly easy if you attend the classes and pay attention to what he says. Textbook is not required- I didn't have one either. I just took notes, and it was fine^^ I recommended this professor to all of my friends!!
Excellent professor. Had him for ECON 1150, 1200, and 3080. Take him for all the econ classes you can. You'll learn something, plus you'll look forward to going to his class! Great professor- even better person
I enjoyed the class but I found it to be difficult. He was a great professor and a really nice guy. Has two or three writing assignments which is the only reason I passed the class.
Mr. Larry Cook is someone who really loves his job and loves to help people understand what he teaches. He's very enthusiastic and has interesting perspectives on things. He will always take extra time to explain things that may seem confusing and is extremely understanding of his students. He even took the learned most of our names! (80+)
Don't need book! This prof is awesome. Class is 3 hrs so it can get boring, but he tires to make a dry subject fun. He is just all around a great guy and professor. Have an exam or or quiz every week cuz class meets once a week and thats your grade. quizes are bonus too! pretty easy class. would recommend!
He is the man! The nicest professor you will ever have. Great professor who truly cares about his students. Dont take anybody else!
He is helpful
Great professor, all quizzes were extra credit.
Wonderful learning experience.
Best Econ teacher ever! Cracks up jokes every once in a while. Wish he taught all my classes! He takes 2 weeks to get to know everyone in the class and his exams are easy& fair if you show up to class and study. Gives out extra credit too!
such a cool dude! he's passionate about the subject and wants his students to learn. All you need to know comes straight from his lectures, the book isn't needed. I've never seen him angry, he's so chill. pop quizzes are extra credit, 2 easy reports, 2 exams, non-cumulative final. come to class & take notes & you will do well (and enjoy the class).
A professor with a love for his subject and students. I enjoyed his class and everything I needed to know came from his lectures. No book. Great prof!
Such a cool professor. Considering the material he really does his best to make the class interesting. I wish there was more opportunity for points in his class but he does make a solid effort to give out extra credit. I really really like him. TAKE HIIIMM
Great prof
One of the best instructors in my collegiate career. Always willing to assist students and it is clear he is passionate about his subject area. This guy is once of the nicest people you will meet and wants you to succeed. You've gotta take the class with one of the finest UT has to offer.
Great Professor! He loves what he teaches and wants to see students do well in his class. He is really good at answering questions and phrasing things so that students understand it. As long as you take notes and listen you will do fine. His tests are from the notes you take in class so they are fairly easy, and pop quizzes are extra credit.
Dr. Cook is one of the best professors that I've ever had! He takes time to make sure that every student is understanding the material before he moves on. Be sure to attend class because the "pop quizzes" are extra credit. Also, be sure to complete the review sheet for exams because that covers everything on it! Easy A (with work) Great professor!!
Very easy class, never had to study but maybe a quick review the days of the exam. The final was not cumulative, textbook is not needed, only the access code for online homework that is really easy. Very easy when it came to grading papers. Very clear in class and also EC quizzes throughout the semester. Just show up everyday and you will do well.
He was a nice teacher, he just talked too much on one problem or situation.
Don't get the book just buy the online code
Awesome professor. Really relates stuff to real life.
Dont't buy the book, just access code. He's an amazing professor for microecon. I would take him again in a heartbeat! He makes the material easy to understand. 3 tests & random extra credit quizzes. show up and take notes and you will pass with an A!
Larry is such a sweet man; he puts himself down a lot but he's truly one of the nicest people I know. His class is based on lectures which aren't boring surprisingly (I don't like Econ). All exams come from the lectures so no book needed. Once a week homework and super easy extra credit pop quizzes. Definitely would recommend him.
The class is very easy but it is he is a very boring lecturer. He gives extra credit quizzes which are very easy. His exams are completely out of his lectures so buying the book is not necessary.
Mr. Larry is the best professor for Economics. His tests are multiple choice and basically out of the notes he gives. Show up to class because he has pop quizzes for extra credit which can help at the end of the semester. Overall, he is very happy to help and will make sure you fall in love with the subject.
Professor Cook really knows his stuff. His lectures can be a little boring, but he mixes jokes in that keep you awake. He does give pop quizzes but they are EXTRA CREDIT!
You can fail all test and still pass, just make sure your there for class, because pop quizzes are given for extra credit. Lectures are not really related to test so I suggest getting the book.
He loves to teach super friendly professor. Failed 2 exams but did good on pop quizzes and homework and still passed the class.
Professor Cook was awesome. Although it was Microeconomics and the content can be very confusing, he did a good job at explaining things. He makes sure everyone understands. Make sure you show up because he gives pop quizzes for extra credit. If you struggle go and talk to him because he will bump your grade up to help you.
Dr. Cook is one of the best professors I've had at UT. His lectures are much more informative than the book. If you go to class every day you can skip buying the book. While other classes seemed to drag on endlessly, his class just flew by. I was always surprised when the 75 minutes were up because he is such an engaging teacher.
Prof Cook was very easy to understand and I would take his class again and again. Go to class because he offers extra credit quizzes which will save your grades. His note are all hand written, but if you read over them a few times you will do fine
Lectures kinda boring, gives good amount of E.C. Tests are a large portion of grade.
Great professor! I actually understood economics because of him. If you take notes of his lectures they will help you greatly on tests. Pop quizzes don't take away from your grade they're extra credit. He says if you do all of the work for the class and improve on tests, he'll bump your grade (bumped me from a B+ to an A-). Mindtap used. (ECON1200)
easy A
Larry is the goat
If you have a chance to take one of his classes, do so. Prof Cook makes the material relevant and interesting. His classes are generally discussion style so be prepared to talk. There are no right and wrong answers, just topics to be explored. All tests are take-home, which may sound easy, but requires in-depth analyse not found in many classes.
Cares about students, very laid back.
This man is fantastic. He makes sure you know the material and incorporates real life things to help you understand.
Definitely one of the best professors I've ever taken. He is the super nice, presents the material in a great way, I actually learnt a lot in this class even though I knew nothing about Econ before. Would definitely take again if possible and totally recommend.
He is the GOAT all hale Larry Cook
Nice guy. Class is very boring, but being in class is necessary for getting the homework done and passing the tests. If you skip, you will have a hard time.
Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. He is the super laid back and funny. His lectures are very clear and are presented very well. He is very easy to talk to and is always willing to help. He is an easy grader, when it comes to the two assigned writing assignments. He also gives extra credit quizzes.
Dr Cook is just amazing. He breaks econ down into easy to understand lectures which usually involve personal stories which are easy to remember and help with the test. Class is graded out of three exams, homework, and two easy writing assignments. There is no final, just the third exam (which covers 4 chapters). If you can, TAKE LARRY COOK!
One of the best economics professors at UT. Explains everything in a simple and easy to understand manner. Course consists of two simple writing assignments, weekly online homework, and three exams. There are pop quizzes but they are extra credit and bump up your grade. Take his class you will love it!
Great professor! His hour and a half lectures flew by and he always used food as examples or asked the class to help give him examples. He gives a review sheet for each of the exams. He gives 3 exams and has 2 (easy) writing assignments. THe best part is he gives easy pop quizzes for bonus points!
No reason to struggle. If you show up and pay attention, you will get the grade you want. There are pop quizzes, but they are extra credit and only helps you grade. Highly recommend taking Cook!
His lectures are very easy and will keep you awake. His homework is done online and lets you keep working on it till you get 100% on it. There are 2 papers but they are both easy 100%- they do have due dates but will be accepted anytime. Test are easy if you went to class.
Extremely challenging exams. For a 1 hour and 20 minute lecture, the professor used a very basic way of teaching. I wish he used other methods than just witting the definition on the chalk board and talking the entire class. At times the class was hard to sit through. I would not take his course again and do not recommend it anyone.
Professor Cook is amazing! He really helped me learn about economics. I recommend attending all of his classes, or else the tests are even harder. The tests are hard, but he gives good study guides. Also, he gives extra credit pop quizzes. He assigned us two papers, but the only other homework we had were Connect assignments; he's lenient on dates.
Very good professor, Easy A
Awful Professor with hard tests. His study guides sucked and you'll be lucky if you pass.
Dr. Cook is not a good Professor in anyway. His class is very boring and the stuff he says is useless when taking exams. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
He is the best professor!!! I took both his micro and macroeconomics class. He gives pop quizzes but they are extra credit and they are 2 or 3 simple questions. He extends deadlines and He is so caring. I learned a lot in his class and it was an easy A in both classes I took with him. I definitely recommend taking his class.
Prof. Cook is a very nice man and want everyone to do well. Lectures can get boring but it is important you go to class for the notes and also the pop quizzes that are bonus. Exams can be diffucult but its also economics so it is tough. Do the homework because it is easy points.
Extends deadlines, cares that you actually pass the class. Often gets sidetracked during lectures to tell stories (mostly funny) extra credit quizzes usually 2-4 questions at he end of class
Very good choice for your first Economics professor in college. The online homework is really easy and the exams aren't too bad if you pay attention in class. Also, he gives a lot of extra credit pop quizzes. Overall, a great guy and great professor. Would highly recommend.
He was an amazing econ professor. His lectures could get dry but for the most part he seemed to keep me interested. I took a econ course the semester before and there was a night and day difference between them. I definitely recommend him for any econ classes. He reopens homework and has quizzes that are all extra credit.
IF YOU ARE TAKING ECON TAKE LARRY'S CLASS. He's the sweetest guy ever and he is very understanding. If you miss a deadline he will open up homework assignments for you and allow you to get it done. LOVES HIS JOB.
Show up, take notes, get an A. The exams come straight from his lectures, which are amazing and really interesting. Take Professor Cook if you can.
I really loved Professor Cook's class. His lectures covery all of the material you need to know for the exams and he reopens homework until the day of exams for you to keep retrying. I had to take his class virtually and watch the lectures when he posted them due to COVID, so make sure you don't fall behind on watching them. Overall, take his class
A really good professor. Can be easily reached, is very helpful, and he also tries to make the material as easy to understand. I personally had a hard time understanding the material, but that was just me. If you also get to that position, just go to tutoring. It helped me out a lot in understanding it even better. Overall great professor.
Professor Cook is by far the favorite professor I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. He makes his lectures entertaining with personal life stories, and will allow homework to be recompleted for full credit up until the exam date. However, if you don't go to class, you will not do well. A lot of his exam material is taken from lectures.
I took this class in person, but we had the option to log in online for class or show up in person. It was very lecture heavy, and personally I did not learn much from the lectures. I would suggest preparing as much as you can for the exams. The class is point based and is made up of 2 writing assignments, 14 HW, and 3 exams. That is all.
Professor Cook is one of my favorite professors. If you show up and try, you will learn a lot and get a good grade. He gives quizzes to help, opens homework back up, and is willing to help at any hour. Tries to make it funny and enjoyable
I would definitely recommend Cook for micro. He cares about his students and will help you do good. he will reopen homework and gives quizzes that are worth extra credit. the hardest part about his class is just paying attention during lectures, but he tries his best to make u interested
Amazing professor. Definitely take his class. Dont miss the class to keep track of the material and understand and learn better.
He is a very good professor as far as you attend classes it should be easy
Larry Cook is the best professor I've ever had. Lectures were very important to the course but gives out pop quizzes that are all extra credit. He really cares about his students and makes the material easy to understand.
Best professor I've had in my first two semesters. Go to the lectures or you will struggle. Gives 'pop quizzes' that he hints toward over very recent material, but they are extra credit. Homework every Sunday through Cengage that is fairly easy. Very forgiving on deadlines. Exams only cover notes, so take good notes in lectures.
If you are taking micro and macro look no further because you just found your prof. Come to class and pay attention and youll fly through this class with an A trust me its not hard. Im going into my last lecture and Id need a 50% on the final to keep my A. Needless to say cook is a great teacher. Im taking him in the fall for micro too.
Nicest professor at UT. He is so caring and sweet. Lectures can be boring, but they are entertaining if you pay attention. He really does care for every student.
He's one of the best professors at UT; if you're looking for a Macro or Micro class, I suggest you take his class. He is a caring person, and I genuinely think he wants all his students to pass. He will reopen homework, and his pop quizzes are just extra credit, and they're easy to do. During his lectures, take notes they will be helpful for exams.
I love him he's one of my favorite professors! He is super knowledgeable and does his best to make the lectures engaging. The exams are straight from the notes, so it's important to show up to class and take detailed notes as he's writing on the board. We had weekly homework, a few papers, and exams. He has quizzes but they were worth extra credit!
Such a great guy, I would recommend him to anyone.
He is one of the BEST professor. I am glad I took his class. He takes care of his students and is always accessible outside the class as well. He is always there to help and he is a very fun guy as well. He definitely knows what he needs to do. Take his class :)
Cook was a great professor that made the concepts easy to understand and apply. The class mostly uses an online text book for homework and prep but everything can be learned by taking notes in-class. Pop quizzes were extra credit which would help make up for some homework or missed exam corrections. Do the work. He will work to help you if needed.
One of the best professors at UT. He is very caring and such a great guy. He generally cares about every student. He gives extra credit pop quizzes. Class is made up of three exams, two short writing assignments, and some online homework. TAKE HIM
Professor Cook is one of the best professors I have taken so far. He is very thoughtful and understanding of students. It is important for him that you learn first, so he tends to be pretty lenient with assignments. If you listen during lectures (they are pretty engaging), you will get a good grade in the class.
He is a good teacher but he gives a lot of pop quizzes. If you are not in class , you will miss information and if you are not able to make it to your schedule class, then you can go to any of his other classes.
Suuuuuper easy class. All the homework is online and you can redo it as many times as you want. He also gives extra credit quizzes in class every week.
Larry Cook was the best professor I have had here at Toledo. His lectures are interesting, homework takes your best score, and exams reflect what is discussed inside the classroom (unlike Professor Alamina). Show a little bit of effort and this is an easy A.
A great and funny guy all around and does his best to provide an engaging class period, often asking for input. Frequently has short extra credit quizzes at the end of class. Uses real world examples to apply to the topics addressed in class. Show up to class and do your homework and it's very straightforward.
I heavily advise anyone to take this dude. Very nice guy, very easy to talk to. Not a lot of homework and will open assignments if you aren't able to receive 100% on it.
He is genuinely one of the best professors I have ever had! He will make sure you are able to get the best possible grade and he is very easy to talk to. His tests are also not very hard and this is coming from someone who is not a great exam taker. Highly, HIGHLY recommend taking Larry for Econ!!
Larry genuinely cares about his students and makes sure they understand the content he is teaching. The exams are not bad as long as you pay attention to his lectures in class and make sure you understand the graphs that he draws/shows during class. Most of the pop quizzes have something to do with a graph he showed you in class that day.
Professor Cook is AMAZING! He loves what he is teaching and is willing to help in anyway he can. The course load is not overwhelming: you have a couple homework questions every week, 2 writing assignments, and 3 exams. You have the chance to make stuff up too. Would totally recommend taking his class! He is the best economics professor I have had!
Professor Cook is AMAZING! He loves what he is teaching and is willing to help in anyway he can. I highly suggest taking Econ with Larry Cook. If you show up to class you can take pop quizzes which are just extra credit points. The homework is challenging for Chapter 3 but all the other ones are easy. It is easy to pass his class. He is a great teacher.
He was one of my favorite professors over this past semester, even though he has a lot of kids in the class he tries to get to know you, he gives out some pop quizzes that are pretty easy and worth some extra credit. If you show up to class and take some notes or just pay attention you should have no issue passing his class.
such a nice guy!
Professor Cook is an amazing lecturer who makes the class engaging. The workload is manageable with a few homeworks, exams, and writing assignments. Using resources like the textbook and Unstuck AI for study prep really helps. Highly recommended!
The best professor at UT. Very understanding and considerate. His exams are on paper but its pretty easy. Just show up to class and you will be fine
He's very sweet and it's obvious he cares about his students and tries to get to know everyone. All quizzes are extra credit so no pressure if you don't do good, for exams he'll give 10 bonus pts if you do a short reflection no matter how you did. He's an easy grader as long as you show effort you will be good
What a guy!!!! He is a very simple and humble, yet funny and humorous, man. I feel like I actually learned something in the class. You have three exams; they are all formatted the same way. I breezed through my notes for 10-15 minutes before each exam and got a B or higher on every one. He has some funny stories - loves making analogies with food!
Great guy, easy class, I just could not pay attention. He's just a drone some days. Two writing assignments with the same criteria both times, and 3 exams with 50 multiple-choice questions. Very flexible with homework. Definitely an easy class and you could def get away with not showing up and still get a good grade.
