I thought he was awesome, very sweet and helpful. calm tempered and understanding.

He has amazing personality, great man. His tests are hard though, you really need to study for them.
Dr. Thouin is a wonderful teacher. He will spend as much time on a subject so that you get it.However this is not an easy class. His tests are hard, and he gives essays (HARD)on each test. Be aware this class is not for the faint of heart.
super nice guy!! cool person, great teacher,, but the class is pretty hard for most students..
Lots of work and studying here. He sound like a little teddy bear. Aww...
Man is he a great teacher its like medical school he is good but he is harder than hell if you want an A take somebody easier not him if you wantt olearn take him and get a B
Great prof - enjoys teaching and really cares about his students and their progress. His test are hard but fair - he was always available for help. He seems concerned about your future.
He is an awesome professor!! It's just that you really have to study for his class to get a decent grade. He cares about his students so much!! And I love the way he teaches!
Excellent professor! Dr "T" expects a lot from you, but you feel happy to provide your best efforts. A great foundation for further study. Friendly personality, loves to teach, and wants you to perform your best. Grades hard, but fair. Simply take good notes, study the book, and prepare for lab.
what a guy an encyclopedia of info! This is a building block fo future knowledge! The human body is complex and so is the class great doctor of Physiology! I know this instruction will benefit me in my nursing career pursuit Doctor T In my eyes is more knowledgeable than 90% of the medical doctors!
I took ths course during the winter session and it was SO rigorous! Dr. Thouin was really on top of things as far as keeping up with the lecture was concerned. This is a hard class, but if you're determinded, you'll succeed. You HAVE to keep up with the reading and take good notes.
Don't expect to "ace" the final to make your grade. If anything, the degree of difficulty of the quizzes and exams increases throughout the course. Score your points early. Prepare for the labs, it' time well spent. The right lab partner can make a big difference. Choose wisely.
do not take him take fox!!! he is very hard exams are hard but a very nice guy and helpful
Dr. Thouin is an excellent teacher with great lectures and approachable attitude. Great sense of humor with the lecture that makes class fun and interesting. However, this is not easy class. Don't expect to "ace" a test or quiz without studying. But at the end of the course you feel more familiar with physioand makes other classes easier to take.
Enthusiastic teacher. Very willing to help students. Can be funny sometimes. Lectures are clear. Subject is hard to begin with so you must read the text book if you want to understand lectures. Studying is a must. Dr.Thoin genuinely wants his students to succeed. A++.
EXCELLENT INSTRUCTOR. He is very approachable and willing to help. I gave him a "hot" because he is such a sweet man. He will challenge you, but you will learn the material. I highly recommend this instructor!!
The best teacher for physio. at pierce, not an easy class, you have to study like a maniac if you plan to pass. Dr. T will do everything in his power to help you get a good grade in his class. He is funny, intelligent, helpful and has the greatest lectures. YOU WILL NOT BE BORED. I wish there were more teachers like Dr. T
AWESOME INSTRUCTOR!!! The class and material is extremely tough, but Dr. T is very helpful in trying to help understand it and relate the material to everyday life. His lectures are entertaining and keep you interested. You do have to study like crazy and read the book BEFORE lecture (it really helps).
Great teacher! I took him for Physiology and he was very enthusiastic & knowledgeable about the subject. It IS quite difficult because he expects you to KNOW the subject well but you learn a lot if you study, attend, & listen!
It is very hard class but Dr T makes it easy and interesting, you have to study like crazy in order to pass, to get an A study book before the class, be present in lectures, maybe visit couple of times the same one - really helps; learn the diagrams he talks about rewrite for yourself and you do well. TO STUDY A LOT IS A KEY For SUCCESS.HE is GREAT
Dr. Thouin is a gem! Very hard class w/a very fine teacher. He w/stay after class and clarify until everyone gets everything. Hard tests but wonderful man. 5 week class. Please wear Hawaiian shirts to class on Fridays - that's all he asks! Great guy; highly recommend.
I took this during the summer. It is a rapid speed class which should be taken only if you have a lot of time to study since there is a quiz in lab every time you arrive. He is an extremely helpful and good natured man. He gives you every opportunity to do well in lab and on the quizzes. The toughest part was the pace of summer.
A hilarious teacher who knows the material inside and out. He's helpful and makes the subject lucid. As long as you attend lectures, pay attention, take notes and read the book, you will do well. It's all about the effort you put into it. His tests are not too bad, plus his curve is generous. Quizzes were easy. I highly recommend him!
Dr. T is a great prof. but it's a very hard class 5 lab quiz and 4 exams including essays on every quiz and exam. Requires alot of reading. He really thinks that we all are already a Doctor. The level that he is teaching is equal to University "medical school" which it shouldn't be.That's why, not too many will pass his class. But very funny guy.
This teacher is not helpful at all. The only people he helps are those who suck up to him. The only reason he seems like he cares is because a 60% is actually a C in the class but thats only because he knows how hard he is on his students. I definitly dont recomend this teacher. You basically have to memorize his notes and the book.
He sets the bar too high for a basic physiology class. Honestly, with all due respect, I think he has issues.
Where should I begin, Dr.T didn't become a medical Dr. but in his mind he think he is and that's why he is making the subject so hard so that no one can pass the class or just get a C. Why?I wonder too? With all do respect, this level is too high for a college. We all are studying so hard but it is still not enough because he wants us to be surgeon
Dr T. is a fantastic teacher and I would absolutely recommend him to anybody who is taking Phys. For those of you that are complaing that he is too hard a teacher, well that's just because you probably aren't doing too well. It's not his teaching that's the problem. Phsyio. is just a difficult subject. This has been one of my favorite classes.
Great Professor! You have to study every day... He makes the class interesting. If you really want to learn take his class.
Dr. T is a great prof. However, this class is a tough one and requires a lot of studying. If you want to learn, take him. If you are a slacker do yourself a favor and take it somewhere else. Moreover, Dr T has a great sense of humor. I've learned a lot in this class. Thank you Dr. T. And about grades: it is doable to get A if you study constantly.
Professor Thouin is a very good teacher and know what he is doing. The class is hard. But if you read and study everyday you're be fine. He is funny and cooooooooooooool professor and the physiology is a fun class.
Dr. Thouin is just adorable! He makes Physio fun and understandable. Warning, this is a very hard class! There is so much information to learn, but it's not impossible. I was not a A student, but that is because I didn't put as much time into the class as needed. Getting an A is possible! It's up to you! This class is definielty not for slackers!
If there were any other teacher at pierce who taught the class i'd recommend them, but he's the only one. Good teacher, nice guy and funny but his exams are really just too hard for a intro phys class. as i near the end of the semester, everyone's motivation is rapidly waning. exams are extremely tricky and ridiculously difficult. good luck!
the hardest professor i every had. You must study in order to pass. He is a nice guy. Ended up with a B =(
Impossible to pass! Took his class and out of 60 people 25 were left. Half were retakers of the class. He tricks you and says you should know it. says attendance isnt mandatory and then makes it. He gives you the essay question answers and then says he changed his mind on that essay question. He teaches med school as wellso you know he teaches hard
Actually, about 65% of the class is left. But you can't be lazy & expect an easy A in physio, especially if you're going into the med field. Dr. Thouin is one of the most patient professors I've EVER met, he's a really funny guy, too. His grading scale is generously curved. You just need to stay on top of studying, more so than anatomy.
i took the notes, but ended up not even using them to study. truth is:reading is completely neceesary and read the chapters as thoroughly as possible. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. i managed to get myself an A, but this was the first time in my school years ive ever had to drink coffee to stay up. quit slacking and expect to work hard and have breakdowns.
Love the guy, very interesting subject, but the tests were REALLY difficult. I did not have a bald spot before I took this class last semester, seriously. Breakdowns did happen, and expect to study your ass off. I did that, but still managed to only get a B. My only B out of 13 classes I've taken at Pierce. Grrr...
Best teacher ... you learn so much from him ..hard class but worth it!!
Dr. Thouin is the best subject is hard so don't blame the guy.prepares you for the worst that's yet to come class is not for slackers. he teaches in a way you can understand, makes it funny reading helps a lot and quizing yourself people who dont pass is cuz they take too many classes at the same time. do not take more science classes w/ his clas
Do yourself a favor n take someone else. He tries to be funny but he really isn't. His exams r way too specific n he loves hard essay questions. The way he explains things r like listening to a audio cd. he doesn't give u study guide or even bother to review the class b4 his stupid exams. His extra credit is ridiculous too.don't take him.
He's a good and funny guy but you must study!! The class is not easy at all. But if u have questions and are confused, he won't make you feel dumb like other teachers do!
He's a good and funny guy but you must study!! The class is not easy at all. But if u have questions and are confused, he won't make you feel dumb like other teachers do! A lot of reading is required!
nice structured lectures, follows the textbook, we didn't have a study guide but the exam questions were based on the lectures & labs, so it was fine, a bit difficult, but I would recommend him
Speaks to you like your already a doctor. not a phys 1 student. does not break things down. tests on 3 to 4 long chapters at a time. u must be ready to learn a lot on your own and do tons of reading and studying. super involved hard essay questions.just too much. nice guy though. just needs to break down the criteria. hard teacher wouldnt recomend
Ok I'm not gonna lie yes the material is difficult and you totally need to treat the textbook like your bible! He really tries to make you understand the subject and he will help you if you ask him during his office hours before or after class. You really need to have this class as priority if you want an "A". IT IS POSSIBLE! He's a sweet old guy!
OMG!!I've never had to study so hard in my life. However, it was really worth it in the end! Dr. T is passionate about the subject but just as passionate about you passing. You can pass however be prepared to eat, drink, & sleep fizzio. Great guy!
THE MOST CHALLENGING CLASS! Nutin in life is easy der4 expect dat diz class will be difficult. This is d' best class for me. You have to study hard.YOu have to be as passionate as Dr. Thouin when his lecturing. Everything he discuss will be important for the exam. Listen. Most importantly, Read the Books.Again, I repeat---STUDY REALLY HARD.:D
Not the easiest teacher ull ever take. He doesnt grade the labs even if you do it. Loves short answer exams that are worth 10 pts. Quizzes are extremely hard to as well. Expect a lot of short answer question. multiple choice exams are extremly tricky so don't take him.
If you are not ready to give up partying on wknds, this class is not for you. Dr. T is one of a kind. Hard class but it's worth every min. you spend studying for his class. He is one those prof. you will remb. looking back in life. If you are willing to learn, you will take so much knowledge that will last you a life time. Big up Dr. T!!!
I got an A in the class. Read the textbook. Attend class. Ask for clarification if you are confused. Too many community college students want to have their hands hold. If you think this class is hard wait until you transfer to a university. Dr. Thouin is an excellent professor. The subject is tough. Students need to seriously studying.
I read previous comments and ppl said "rely on book." I thought they were just clueless and didnt understand anything. Well, you really do learn from the book. His powerpoint is confusing and useless because he abbreviates every word. Grades have a curve, 60-75% is an C. It means this class is hard. Not impossible for an A, but need to study hard.
Learn 1 chapter per week from useless powerpoint slides. Relies on book. If youre one of those people who cant listen to teachers talk for 3 hours, don't take him. Really hard class. That's why his grading scale is curved. For me, the curve is not worth trading for a harder course. Easy to get a C, but a C in physio is a fail for people in medicine
Physiology is a hard subject. I lived and breathed this class...never missed, listened to lecture recordings again and again, read each chapter twice, and did all the study guides. I got an A in this class. And that's the only way you'll get an A, too. Dr. Thouin is an enthusiastic, enjoyable teacher, but you must STUDY. STUDY. STUDY.
Physio overall is extremely challenging but dr. T is the best at teaching it. Class is easy to pass but extremely difficult to ace. Read the book, study the notes, and ask for clerification when needed and you'll be fine.
He is an awesome teacher.I loved his class and learned a lot.Tape his lecture take the lab quizzes seriously and read the book. All the low grades were on the first exam so read and listen as much as you can on the first one.He will answer all your questions kindly.
Very hard class, you'll need to put in the time to get the grade. Very interesting class, GREAT teacher!! This class may take over your life for the semester but the professor is amazing and very helpful!!! Loves what he does!!
awesome professor.i'd seriously recommend him to all of you,he is so helpfull and understandable prof.the subject is so hard and you have to stick on the book every day.it was like holy book and really interesting subject.if you don't like the subject, never take this class with him.you must love the book to can pass with a good grade in his class.
Extremely challenging class but it's fun & interesting at the same time. Dr. Thouin is such an amazing professor! You have to have, read, and study the book. Definitely take his class if you can handle a physio challenge.
Pls don't take him especially when ur working full time and have kids. The book is pretty much ur best friend. He does know his stuff BUT I feel like he wants to make the class harder for us. Take Physio somewhere else because he is really hard
Funny knowledgeable guy. Class is not easy, but we're in college now kitties, if you ain't willing to work hard, you're in the wrong place. I studied 2 hours a day, 5-6 days a week and EARNED my A. Read the book, work hard, be consistent with your studies, persevere, and through HARD WORK the goal you wish to achieve will be yours. Don't slack off.
Physio isn't easy, but it's how the Instractor teachs it.U need 2 read text book in detais.5 lab quizes & extra credit essay.Has BIG EGO.His pefectionist. No mercy, he'll take of points easly.. Tests M/Choice are tricky & not clear. 22 Students dropped 2 wks before semester with B+/C.Hard teacher.Go 2 Valley College, Better teachers...
he is a really good professor. patiente and kind. he will explain anything that you dont understadn. you need to put some effort to th eclass in the readings that's it. everything else if you study you will pass it. he is really helpful and good teacher.
he is a nice man but his tests are difficult to understand as he asks in riddles. forgets that this is a pre class and tests like we are in med school or at UCLA. seems to enjoy failing people.
Charismatic, witty, caring intelligent, & funny beyond belief. Dr. Thouin is one of Pierce College's gems amongst professors. Sure the class is tough, but you're studying to be a doctor or veterinarian right? Get used to tough classes! If you put in the time, you'll walk out as a master of Physio. (Thoin will help!). I worked hard and earned an A.
nice man. he makes lectures really interesting and tells funny jokes. he had my attention the whole time. but he tests on the university level and makes it much too difficult. i studied and studied. it wasn't about the studying. and this is a community college. we are not at UCLA medical school.
He is great! He does his best to teach us, and we should do our best to learn the material. Exams are harder than average, but there are people who get A in his class, so it is doable. Study for lab quizes: those are straight from the book and help to improve your grade. A=85% and up, 60-75%=C.
He is a good teacher. Simplifies things during lecture. You do have to know you're anatomy though. Lab quizzes are easy when you read the lab manual. It's helpful to do the questions at the end of each lab. Tests are really hard though. You have to study and understand every little detail on topics he goes over. You must read the text and study!
nice man but tests like we are in med school at ucla. he has a reputation. this is just a beginning class. a prerequisite for many. doesn't seem to want students to pass because makes it so hard. he admits that and drops the grade school down but what is the point? i studied my buns off and came to every class and just coudn't his class.
This is the best professor ever. Take his class and you'll really learn your physio. Have to study and pay attention in lecture. Tests are really in depth, but he covers all in class. Enjoy!!
VERY HARD CLASS!He's very nice and helps a lot but the tests are extremely hard and grade based on four exams and like 4 lab quizzes. No homework or any extra points. Some people got A's but not many. Make sure to read a lot and study like all the time!
he is very very difficult. he does lower the grading scale he said but then he tests at university level. he forgets this is a community college and a PREREQUISITE. A pre-class. This is a beginning course. we are not in medical school yet. good luck.
To clear up some misconceptions: Dr. Thouin is not a villain that wants you to fail, he's actually really kind but strict. Your grade is your responsibility. I put the time in and didn't blow off the first exam, it served me well. His tests are hard, but manageable. READ and STUDY the text. First exam is on chapter 6 and 7, know them.
Here's the thing: physiology is physiology. His tests aren't tricky—they just require you take the time to really read the material. If you're looking into a career in the medical field, you'll be thanking this man for your improved study skills and the extensive knowledge you've acquired from passing this class. Put in the work, reap the benefits.
Professor Thouin is amazing!!! It may not be the easiest content, but study hard and you will get the grade you deserve!! Read the chapters, ask questions, and listen in class. He is a great lecturer, entertainer and great professor overall.
If you want an easy A go to valley college, answers for the test are given there. but if you are serious about learning, this guy is the best teacher you can ever have. he is always in the office for help, students would be in line after lectures to ask questions from him for more than half an hour and he never had problem answering all questions
This is not anatomy anymore. No memorizing. You need to be able to explain these processes backward and forward. Dr. Thouin is very helpful and wants you to succeed. But physiology is hard no matter what teacher you have. So ignore the comments that say he is hard. The class is hard! If you can explain everything in every figure, you will be good.
Thouin is in my top 5 professors of my college career. Intelligent, concise, clear, will explain to the very minutest detail for your benefit. Attending is not only mandatory but essential. No homework. 1 replacement lab in case of missed. Loved his demeanor, attitude & occasional digressive story-telling whigh relevancy to course topics. Respect!
This is a hard class in general. Power point slides are confusion and he goes over things too fast. He will finish lecturing the chapter that will be on the exam the class before giving you little time to study it. Lab quizzes are every week. There are study guides online to help with exam. The tutor is amazing and will help you pass the class
Dr. T is an amazing professor - thorough, funny, and informative lectures. Well versed in the subject, explains it well and clearly, and has a thousand examples if necessary. However he is difficult, his tests are thorough and challenging, you have to know it forwards and backwards; do any less don't expect an A or even a B. He'll tell you himself.
He is passionate about the subject, he makes the class funny and tries relating the material to everyday life. This subject is extremely tough, he tries to help as much as possible but you got to be ready to study a lot. Reading the book is a MUST. Lab quizzes weekly and 3 exams plus the final. The tutors were extremely helpful so take advantage.
This was a very tough class. At some points throughout the semester I thought it was unnecessarily tough, but I worked very hard and passed with a B. He's a great teacher and helpful, but don't be lazy!
Excellent professor. Has plenty of available office hours. He'll take the time to explain a concept you're having trouble with. Wants you to succeed. Read the textbook. Quizzes are tough. He used Lab to do lecture so lab assignments felt rushed. Lots of reading. No hw. Provides a tutor.
Such a hard class. If you work hard you will do well. Don't take any other classes. You have to dedicate all your time to this class if you want to pass. Expect to read at least 4 hours a day outside of class. Utilize the tutors.
Class is full with people trying to add on the first day but half drop out by mid semester. Difficult but so is this professor. Hardest professor. His questions are tricky and more on the level of a UCLA. He needs to remember that this is community college and also pre-classes and not advanced. He has failed students and seems to take pleasure.
This class is the hardest class I've taken in college but very interesting! He does his best for his students to understand every concept. Don't only read, but understand each concept back and forward. Great class! Great professor!Focus and you will pass.
I spent most of Bio 3 lab with him as the teacher and I learned so much because he is very accessible and knowledgable.
