Prof. George is so knowledgeable, answers all questions in detail, doesn't require papers or oral participaton, and reviews all his tests in detail. Go to class and you'll learn things you've never imagined, and you don't even need the text.
Really Good Professor...biased on political opinions.
Just take him!
kind of boring, no study guides, no homework just exams. i guess if you read the chapters then youll get a good grade.
Alright, TRUTHFULLY this guy knows EVERYTHING about International Politics, BUT his teaching style is horrible, gives out good study guides, downfall is the fact he is talking CONSTANTLY with no breaks in a monotone voice, great guy and nice person but teaching style needs work. Very Fair grader...
Yeah, he does talk in monotone but can get away with it because you actually learn some interesting stuff in his class because he makes learning easy. Go to class and take notes because what he says is on the test, I barely even looked at the book.
Very monotone, but the class "on the whole" was interesting. 8 exams in all... All you need to take is 6, if you take all 8 he'll drop your worst 2 grades. He offers ex credit, that boosts your lowest exam grade to an A... He's fair and the book is an easy read. Done't expect grades rite away...
EASY, get to drop 2 lowest exam grades, gives study guide and essay questions before exams.
He is an extremely boring professor. I didn't learn anything new from him. In fact, he never mentioned the gov't or anything you'd expect to learn. He drops two lowest test scores out of 8 tests. Very easy to get an A and very easy to get an F. Read the book, that was the only interesting part.
He is very knowledgable about the subject. The tests are based mostly on the book and he gives you a study guide before. He lectures for the entire class time and there really isn't any student discussion, but he will answer your questions. Grading is based on 3 tests-no papers or other assignments.
I only went to maybe half the lectures, all you have to do is go the class before the test, get the study guide, and study it. I got a B in his class, and I didn't even show up to 2 tests, and got a D on one. Take him, he's a democrate and only teaches that way which sucks, but oh well.
His lectures sucks!Don't really learn anything from this class besides reading the book to get As on his exams. there are 6 exams and he drops 2 lowest grade. Don't need to come to class except for the grade posting. He even gives you a study guide before the tests.
Pretty much easy teacher but unfortunately very boring.
easy class all you have to do is read the book and glance over the lecture note the class in on acurve so it is really easy to get an A and he drops two test
this class was boring as hell... he talked for hours and hours on end.... all you have to do is read the book, but just a heads up, the reading is a TON... he does drop the lowest two test scores out of eight so that is extremely helpful
He talk without end, Just read the damn book is all he needs to say, but reading is alot. Although a fair grader he is strict on attendence. He drop me because I miss a class.
America **** yeah! lol
I seriously went to this class all of twice for the semester and still passed. It was extremely boring because he is the only one who talks, so if you want some sort of interaction- take someone else.
He's really a great guy...the problem is that he knows everything about everything, so it's easy for him to get off topic. The classes seem torturous, but it's worth it afterwards, seriously.
yea class was easy but way too boring. Hw would change the exams all the time. Unfairly graded me. I got a C even though i got two A, two B's, one C and no lower than a B on the final. Tried to contact him for a year but was never in his office, never responded to emails or returned phone calls
class is insanely boring...copying ALOT of overheads for the entire class time. tests are based on lectures and readings, however qustions are vague. such as "according to the text, which if any, of these statements are true" and sometimes the statements do not even correlate with each other. he doesn't even lecture, just reads off the overheads.
So boring, so many over heads. Its not hard to get a B, but you really have to study for an A. DOnt really need to go to class.
BORING! Would not answer any questions either. Class was easy though.
He spends more time on his political rants than teaching the class. His favorite phrase seems to be "In all other advanced, industrialized, countries ________, but not in America". The class was very easy, but his rants get annoying after a while. If you like listening to a leftist professor rant, this is the class for you.
I actually enjoyed this class...i found the material to be interesting...yes, he is a little boring but not so boring that you fall asleep in class...his tests are really easy...all you have to do is study the lecture notes and skim over the chapters...he was helpful and answered questions if i had any..i would take another class with him anytime
The only time i ever went to this class was the day of the test. He posts somewhat of a study guide on beachboard, but if you just read the chapters that he says will be on the test you will do fine. I got A's on all of them.
So his lectures were boring and attending class was unnecessary...oh well, totally worth being bored out of my mind. Got A's on all the tests so I don't have to take the final - what more could I ask for? Six tests, drops worse score, no essays, no homework. Great easy class.
Class is so boring. He will kick people out! Lectures the whole time and is boring! His test questions are straight from the book. Just hopefully you can remember every detail when you read a chapter before the test. Try to find someone who makes this subject more fun.
OMG he talks in a monotone voice for the entire time. He goes all over the place and his tests are super hard, practically have to memorize the book to pass.
George is a cool guy, sure the lectures aren't the most exciting thing around, but the test are pretty sensible if you go to class and sit through the lectures.
easiest class i have ever taken.i have only showed up 4 times each day of the test. he posts all his lecture slides on line.i review them an hour before the test maybe skim the chapter if i have time and ive pulled all as and bs.no homework 4tests and one final.and you get to drop the lowest test.im getting my best grade in the class i do the least
Dont take this class if you are not a poli sci major. I was interested in political science and was looking for a fun class for my GE D2 category. There are no papers, but his tests are hard! This is not what i expected in this class.
Easy class. I showed up 6 times and passed with a B. Uses power point for his lectures. Everything important for the tests is in the slides, which he posts on Beachboard. Just study the slides and read the chapters. 4 test plus a cumulative final, and he drops the lowest grade. Boring as HELL but one class you don't have to show up to.
I took him for IR and it was fun. He knows a lot, and will try to teach it ALL to you. But, he isn't a "knowitall!" Have some coffee, take out your notebook, and enjoy the show. Read the book every week, or else you will be shocked on the test. On day before test you WILL need to cram and study very hard. MEMORIZE or PERISH!! Take him!
He is staight up when he teaches, he knows his stuff, IF YOU WANT TO PASS, you need to study the lectures he teaches and posts up on beachboard, DO the readings and you will be prepared for his tests. He drops the lowest test/final. 4 tests, 1 final, lowest score dropped. Put the effort into getting the grade you want and youll pass :0 :)
Not the most interesting of lecturers, but he's a very smart man, and offers much insight. He has no assignments in the class other than readings, which part of the tests are based on. Motivation to attend was the toughest part of the class. Besides the bore, good professor, positive experience in the class.
If you know anything prior about politics and you go into his class, you do not even need to show up. I showed up everytime time and realized that i was just surfin the internet the whole time so i no long went and never studied and got consistant B's on his tests. He knows what he is doing
George's lectures consist of him reading Powerpoint slides verbatim, which he then posts online, making attending class pointless. Pronounces white as "hoo-ite". Michael Moore documentaries are used occasionally. He drops one of the 4 tests, making it one of the easiest As around.
as long as you can cram about 1000 pages of reading a week before the test, study the lecture slides, you'll pass
You must do all the reading if you want an A or a B in the class...Tests are somewhat hard, no papers, but he does give a few extra credit assignments which are helpful. He takes attendance randomly so go to class. Lectures are boring but its not that bad
Very Nice Guy. He kind of mumbles when he speaks and talks extrememly fast. You can tell he loves his subject. Overall class is not very difficult. Just read the slides and glance through the book occasionally and you can get an A. Attendenance not mandatory. Hmmm. what else? that's it. =]
I never went to class except for the four test days and the day before the four test days. I got As on each of my four tests and did not even have to take the final. Very easy class. But the professor was very very boring.
There are huge amounts of readings, and reading is a MUST if you want to pass the class. Don't get behind! Each chapter will take you about 4 hrs to read and study. So make time. If you do the readings and read the PowerPoints, the class is an easy "A." The reading is pretty understandable and interesting too. He's a nice teacher and curves grades.
It was a pretty boring class, however if you actually go to class and somewhat pay attention to what he's saying, you'll do really well. he doesn't care what you're doing in class as long as it's not texting or talking. take him
Despite a certain amount of bore, Dr. George is a great guy. If you have questions talk to him after or before class. He is pretty cool. I read about two paragraphs of the first chapter then never opened the book after that and got A's on the tests. You don't have to go to class but if you pay attention to his lectures you can do as well as me!
He's really easy! I never went to class, we had four easy exams that he curves. he posts all the slides online and gives a detailed study guide. you do need to do the reading. but super easy.
I never looked forward to going to his class. He's soooooo boring and I'd find myself thinking about other things. I couldnt hear some things he would say because he doesnt have a loud voice. His lectures consist of powerpoints (available online). I did better than I thought I would in this class. Not a hard class. Exams=multiplechoice and essay.
Professor George understands how a 100 level class should be taught. You are responsible for learning the material on the book, but his lectures are based off it. It is possible to never show to class except on test days and get an A. Do the test-review, read the lecture notes, and you'll get an A. Overall he is a good professor and a nice guy.
Attendance not mandatory. 100% easy. a lot of readings for each test (100-120 pages on average). he only gives LETTER GRADES. as long you get a 90% or more = automatic A. he drops the lowest grade out of five of your tests (including final) you need at least 2 A and 2 B or 3A and 1C for an A. He curves too. YOUR GRADE = 5 TEST (INCLUDING FINAL)
Terrific teacher. Challenging class, but you learn a lot. Tries to get you to think outside your comfort zone. Do the reading, which isn't much, think about what you want to say beforehand, and express your thoughts.
He knows his stuff and loves it. He can go and go. Very boring lectures. If you can remember lots of terms and events, you will get an A. 1/3 quiz, midterm, and final. His exams consist of multiple choice with terms and 2-3 essays about events. He takes attendance but not everyday. He mostly takes attendance when few people show up like every prof.
Boring lectures. Posts the power point slides online though so you don't have to go to class at all if you don't want to. Except for the tests. He drops your lowest test score too, which is great. No homework at all, just five tests.
Extremely easy class. He's very aware that people generally only take the class for the GE credit. 5 tests only takes the 4 best grades. Powerpoint slides are very helpful. Some things on the test do come from the textbook. Some extra credit available if you show up for class.
This class was a breeze. He posts power point slides up on beachboard so it's not mandatory to go. He gives the essay prompt before each test, and the multiple choice is pretty easy. Definitely take him! He is a nice guy as well.
Larry George's positive attitude made my day and warmed my soul! He was my favorite professor.
Takes 4 out of the 5 exams. No homework or essays due. Highly recommend to study for the first 4 exams and avoid the 5th exam since it's cumulative.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable and has great lectures. Admittedly he is a little dull in normal classes but he really shines in senior seminars.
This professor is great. Lectures are at a fast pace so take your laptop for quick note taking. Make sure to read the chapters assigned and you'll do good in class. Very helpful if you need it. Great POSC 100 course.
He is a very nice professor and extremely understanding! His lectures can drag on sometimes but for the most part he lectures on interesting topics and approaches the subject differently so it isn't too boring. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives bonus questions in class and pop quizzes.
Okay. So i took this class because the reviews seem to make him sound pretty easy..like an easy A. unfortunetly he is not. His lectures are extremly boring, and you HAVE to basically read the whole book if you want to pass. So unless you want to spend hours upon hours reading, or you'll do bad. I recommend taking someone else if you want an easy A.
It is an easy class. I found it very interesting and learned basics of poli sci that everyone should know about, specially voters!. It was really helpful! It is clear and if you read the book chapters, you get an A. I went to class 5 times and got all A's. I did not have to take the final because he takes 4/5 tests.
FAIRLY EASY CLASS. VERY INTERESTING. BASICS EVERYBODY SHOULD ALREADY KNOW! I WENT 4 TIMES. FOR THE FOUR TESTS. GOT ALL A'S. READ CHAPTER BOOKS AND SLIDES AND YOU LL GET AN A. EASY+INTERESTING=TAKE IT!
Seriously it's an easy A! There's 4 test(not hard or confusing) and 1 final but drops 1 of the 5 test. His test are straight from the power points and class isn't mandatory but he give extra credit points randomly. He's an amazing professor(bit dull though) and assigns no homework. Recommend highly especially if you want an easy A!
This class was extremely easy. He gves you everything you need to get a good grade. He posts all the lectures online so you dont even have to go to class, which i rarely did and got all A's. All you have to do for tests is read over the lectures and atleast scan the textbook readings. Also he drops the lowest test including final.
This class was easy,in my opinion, but you do have to read the book and his powerpoint notes if you want to do well in his class. He posts the study guides and lecture notes on beachboard so you will do just fine :) He doesn't take role but I would recommend going to class often because some of his exam questions are based on in class lectures
great teacher, knows his stuff.short readings, long tests mandatory attendance. share your opinion it will help you with participation grade.fun and interesting class i learned a lot.2 tests, paper, presentation and participation 20% each.I recommend this class, he is very intelligent and has a wide spectrum of knowledge you can learn a lot from him.
Everyone has to take POSC 100, so take it with Professor George. He gives extra credit all the time so it's almost impossible not to get an A. But it's not super easy, you will have to read the text for the tests but thats about it.
Professor George is really nice, gives extra credit if you attend class, and is really easy. Pay attention in lecture, you don't need the book. I got an A without even opening the book. You take 4 exams and a final. He removes the lowest score. That's all. I got A's on all of the tests, so I didn't have to take the final. Like I said, great class.
Prof. George is awesome! Super friendly and approachable. Gives out a lot of extra credit and always holds review sessions before each exam. There should be no reason to get anything lower than a C. A total of 5 tests including the final but you could drop the lowest one. Def recommend! :)
I recommend taking Prof. George! Great professor! 5 tests, drops the lowest one. class isnt mandatory, but he gives extra credit. Gives study guides for the tests. Easy.
Amazing professor. without a doubt one of the best I've taken at CSULB. lectures are engaging and informative. you'll actually want to go to class. I highly recommend.
i RLY did not want to take posc100 & was dreading it.But im actly glad i did!! Unlike other posc classes, this class was rly easy (i actly learned alot2 and george was AWESOME!Only 5 tests,1 is dropped(including the final)and a ton of EC For all those taking this class, TAKE PROF GEORGE! You'll have a great,ez sem w/ a super cool professor! :D
Extremely helpful and approachable. Gives extra credit (but you need to be in class to get it) and study guides. If you pay attention in class and ask questions you will be fine. I was apprehensive about taking the class at first because it is not my strong suit but he makes it easy as long as you pay attention.
great class, really enjoyed it. As long as you read the chapters you will do well in the class. He even tied in current events to his lectures. I highly recommend this class!
Class is a little boring(all lecture) but he gives out super easy extra credit and drops your lowest grade. I got an A without taking the final. Just take it.
Easy teacher for this course. 4 Exams and a Final, lowest one dropped. So an A on 4 Eams means you dont have to take the final-which is nice. Exams are easy, but lectures can be dry; professor stutters
Very interesting class. I took the class although it was outside of my major, but found the topics extremely interesting and the professor very knowledgable. Prof George was a kind and approachable instructor and always encouraged students to contact him if they needed help. You should attend class and take notes if you hope to do well. Good class!
Read Read and then Read some more. Class is broken up into 4 in class quizzes, a midterm (essay and multiple choose) and a final same format. The class is well structured and Prof George is friendly and very knowledgeable. You will have to read the book if you want to do well. Good Luck
Very boring professor... However, you must go and take notes (no electronics). He's a really fair grader and curves everything. Study the book for the quizzes and you'll be fine. There's a mix of fill in the blanks, and multiple choice so watch out!
Super simple class. There are five exams and he drops one of them. Just put in the time to study for each test, and you might not have to take the final. He is super easy for a Political Science class.
Easy class. 5 tests but he drops your lowest score. It's possible to get an A without reading if you go to every lecture since he gives extra credit and tells you what will be on the test. Tests have multiple choice and an essay, but he gives you a study guide and the prompt ahead of time.
Very interesting lectures!
VERY INTERESTING, 4 EXAMS WITH ESSAY, 1 FINAL. EASY A PLUS HE HAS EXTRA CREDIT AND 2 TUTORS WHO ARE GREAT AND GIVE A REVIEW EXAM! TAKE THIS CLASS I HAVE NERVER RATED A PROFESSOR BUT I HAD TO FOR THIS PROFESSOR
I never had interest in posc, even with this class. However, he is a nice and easy professor. No hw. 5 exams but takes the top 4 so may not need to take final exam at all. I really get bored in class but i only go because sometimes he gives extra credit in class. Also, a few of his ppt slides may miss some info so fill it out during lecture
5 Exams, drops the lowest score. Lectures werent really helpful, so stopped going to class after Exam 2 and managed to get a B in the class. Professor George is a nice man, and seems passionate about the subject but class can be very dry at times. If you want to get an easy B, take him!
As a student, it was very hard to come to class because Larry was not passionate about the subject. He drops the lowest test grade which is nice but the tests do not line up with the lectures what so ever! GO TO STUDY GROUP IF YOU WANT AN A! The assistants provide more knowledge than I ever received in one lecture.
tests are fine. just study the powerpoints. read the book because the coincide with lectures.a bit boring in class but does know what he's talking about. takes the top 4 scores out of 5 tests (inluding the final). might give answers to tests to class.
Prof. George is great! We had 4 exams, 70% from lecture 30% from reading the book. And a final, however if you're pleased with your grades from the exams you don't have to take the final. He is also very helpful and will answer questions, definitely an easy A!
Took for creditno credit. Showed up to class twice and would have gotten an A if I took it for a letter grade. Easy class and Professor George was a really nice guy and you can tell he wants whats best for his students. Would definitely recommend him for a GE class.
I got a C because I procrastinated on the reading. If you attend the lectures and read the chapters on daily basis, you will get a grade better than a C.
Easy class, 5 tests only takes your top 4 best scores for your grade. If you do good on first four you don't have to take the final. Class is not mandatory but does give extra credit if a lot of people don't show. No homework or weekly quizzes or assignments. Book is recommended to pass tests. Honestly a very easy class
I'm really into politics when Dr. George taught this course! He's an amazing professor! Politics can be boring, but his powerpoints inform each political topic. He has 4 midterms & a cumulative final. STUDY & rewrite the study guides to pass! If you have 1 low exam score, he will take the 5 exams & drop the lowest score. Definitely recommend him!
most boring class ever. professor george is so boring but he really knows his stuff. class is really hard to pay attention in and i hate every second of it
To be honest, poli sci should be one of the easiest classes you take being an undergraduate, especially if you've take government classes back in HS. Prof. George is very passionate about posc but the lectures can be very boring. Stopped going after the first week and still managed to get an A. Review all the terms and write solid exam essays.
Professor George is the sweetest! Always quick to respond to questions, whether face2face or emails. We had three quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Study guides were provided for the midterm and final, which consisted of m/c, fill in the blank, short answers, and essays. Would take him again if he taught other classes!
Great professor. 5 tests, gets rid of the lowest score. The lectures are long but if you actually pay attention to them, they are interesting. Do the readings since they will be on the tests and review the slides.
Honestly such an easy class. Professor George is super smart and knows what he's talking about. Lectures can be a little boring if you're not into politics, but they're exactly what is on the tests. he gives great study guides and there's no big essays or anything. Kinda hot in a professor way.
Professor George is awesome!! He understands his class is a G.E. and wants everyone to pass it. I hardly showed up and still passed with an A. Just take notes from his powerpoints and attend the review sessions before the exams. 4 exams, no final. Exams are easy and he posts study guides.
The good: He seems like a very nice person. Always willing to help when you ask a question and is very knowledgeable about IR and foreign affairs. The bad: He is honestly one of the most boring lecturers I've had. Doesn't engage students so it's often dry. On a couple of tests from him he's asked really obscure questions.
Very nice professor and also well dressed. 5 exams, will drop the lowest score. Do the study guide at least 1 week before the test, and you will do fine. Hardly opened up the book, yet I'm still doing pretty well. Pay attention and take great notes. Take him!
He grades off 4 tests and gives out 5. He takes the top 4 and averages them. So if you have 2 As and 2 Bs, your 3.5 gets rounded to an A in the class. You don't have to attend lectures, but sometimes he gives extra credit from the lectures. Just do the study guide.
He's a dull lecturer, but if you go to the lectures he will give out extra credit since not many people go. He has 5 tests and drops the lowest score, which is really nice. Tests are based off of textbook and lectures, but all slides are posted online so just read alittle and review notes and you should pass easily.
Super easy, i showed up a handful of times and got an easy A. Lectures are boring and dry, barely uses the textbook, just use the study guides he posts before every exam. Four exams one final, drops your lowest score (so you may not have to take the final).
He was fine. He seems really chill but his lectures get really boring very often. You can not show up and pass, but he gives out extra credit sometimes. 5 exams and you get to drop the lowest score. It's pretty easy for a GE and he wants you to pass. Slow grader though. Should ready because there aren't any homework assignments.
Please DONT take this professor! I took him because all of these reviews said he was easy but he isn't. 90% of his tests are from reading the chapters that has tons of material he never even talks about in class and some of the q's are so random His study guides are terrible so the whole class resorts to making 45 page long google doc study guides
this class is not easy idk why all these reviews say otherwise. everyone I know is struggling, he barely gives extra credit, his tests and study guides aren't even from the lectures, his assistant is NO HELP AND CLUELESS. he doesn't even give out his email so good luck reaching him. lecture slides are no help for the useless study guide he gives.
Nice guy who is very clear about what he wants in order for you to succeed. Yes, you have to show up to class and yes, you have to do some reading but if you do this you are ensured an easy A. He gives great study guides and doesn't have any surprises that'll hurt your grade. He also generously curves. He is pleasant and genuinely cares. Take him!
best professor ever!
Okay maybe its because I am not a political science smarty but I literally hated this class. My friend told me "ohh he is so easy!". Yeah he is not. His lectures help somewhat but you just need to know about political science. I found him not helpful whatsoever. I would advise taking someone else STRONGLY. But if you take him, do credit/no credit.
3 exam and a final, but he drops the lowest grade out of the four exams. His lectures are long but his study guides helps a lot. Attendance does not count, his power points have majority of the information needed, except for some cases he may want you to know. Gives extra credit on the exams.
Lectures are hella boring but super easy class as long as you show up to class (gives extra credit that goes towards exams). Only 4 exams (lowest is dropped). If you want an A in the class then just buy/rent the ridiculously expensive book and don't bother going to class (pointless) but if you're good with a B then just depend on the study guides.
I really liked this class but, Prof. George is a very VERY dry lecturer. His tests are on material from the book and lecture and the book is not just summarized in lecture and the lecture material isn't necessarily in the book. Read the book, show up and pay attention and you'll pass. Don't take him if you don't like tests being your whole grade.
He's a cool professor he knows that the majority of people taking the class are fulfilling a GE requirement so he teaches you what you need to know. The class is all lecture and if you take notes you'll do fine. The book was expensive so I didn't buy it but when exams came I passed all with B's, If you take good notes from the lecture and ppt
Professor George is nice, but his lectures were extremely boring. Study guides were given but were not that helpful. PowerPoints are posted but you need to show up to class to get all the information. The textbook had long chapters. 4 tests are given, and the lowest grade is dropped. He gives a few bonus points, but the tests are hard.
Nothing difficult. It's all in the powerpoints and textbook.
Super easy class, only need to attend lectures to get answers to the extra credit questions on exams. 3 exams plus final and the lowest one is dropped so if you do really well on first 3 exam you don't have to take final if you don't want to.
There are only 3 Exams and 1 Final- there is an essay question at the end. He sets you up for success with a study guide tho. I hardly show up to class and have maintained a B in the class. The material is not difficult and he does a good job of explaining. I would take him again.
This class is only based on 4 exams. You can drop one including the final. Answer the study guides using both the textbook and lecture slides. He gives the exam essay questions ahead of time. Show up to class for extra credit questions on the exam. I used an older version of the textbook that's on reserve at the library so you dont have to buy it.
He is pretty nice and woke. Your grade is based on four exams and the lowest score is dropped. Don't take this class if you don't want to risk your GPA.
4 exams, only 3 are counted. you get to skip final if you do well in the 1st 3. He's extremely generous on extra credits BUT everyone has to be respectful, like talking in class/leaving lecture half way. Exams are pretty easy if you follow the study guides. Attendance is not mandatory but showing up helps with exams and for extra credits.
lots of extra credits if you show up and respect him. Exams are fair and easy. Helpful study guides. The amount of effort you put in this class is what you get.
This was my first semester at CSULB as a transfer student and I took this class for a leftover GE requirement. Professor George made the class very easy, posted the notes online along with study guides for exams. There are 4 multiple choice exams with short essay questions. You only need to take first 3 exams if you do well and can skip the final!
The class was basic and not engaging. Take another professor.
Professor Georges class was great! All he did was lecture and he only graded you through 3 exams and if you did well on the first 3 you dont have to take the final since he drops your lowest score. Missing class wasnt bad since you could ask someone for notes or read the text. However he did give random extra points if you showed up to class
Didn't ever go to class (only for exams) but still passed with an A. Prof uploads ppt lectures & study guides, which are reflective of the exam. Easy class, but you do have to put in the work: review ppt lectures/study guides, read the book, & you will pass! If you pass the first three exams, you don't have to take the final. Lowest score dropped.
4 exams including the final. if you do good on the first three you get exempt from the final, or he only takes the best three scores to determine your grade for the whole class. attendance is not really mandatory, but he does give random extra points or info for the next exam.
This is a big lecture class so attendance is not mandatory; however, he does put random fun facts in his powerpoints that he puts on his exams. There are 4 exams in this course (including final). If you like your grade on the first three, you can decide to take the final for a better grade or not. He's a cool guy
Literally... the easiest class ever. Didn't show up and didn't buy the 100 something dollar book -- got an easy A. No attendance unlike other professors. Gives tons of EC. Also, not a lot of tests. Apparently other classes have tons of exams. If you do good on 3 exams, you don't have to show up for the final. He's an awesome guy.
Clearly well educated, Dr. George is what comes to mind when you think of a college professor. Well spoken and organized. His lectures are concise and to the point. He covers alot during his lectures an the better botes you take the easier class will be. 2 quizzes a midterm and a finale, thats it. Its a interesting class over all.
Probably the smartest person on his subject I've ever met. No matter what you ask him,he knows the answer in great detail. The class is him talking for the entire time. Interesting sometimes but it gets really, really boring. First 2 assignments are take home essays. Easy grader. A's on both essays without reading a single page. Posts slides online
His POSC 100 class is super easy! The lectures might be boring, but it is an easy A if you study the lectures and go to the review sessions held by his TA's. Definitely don't need to buy the expensive textbook.
4 exams, drops the lowest one, so if you're satisfied w/ the first 3 exam scores, you don't have to take the final. He talks for the entire class period, but it's clear he knows his stuff. His study guides are helpful but I HIGHLY recommend going to the review sessions held by his TAs. Plenty of opportunities to earn one (1) extra credit point.
Dr. George is a GREAT professor!! He truly want's all his students to pass his class with A's and B's. You have to go to class to understand the material, that being said didn't really read the book. 4 exams, drops the lowest one, so if you're satisfied w/ the first 3 exam scores, you don't have to take the final. But I personally recommend it!
- Don't have to go to class + extra credit given almost everyday - No homework - Don't need the textbook - Long boring lectures, didn't go and still got an A, just do the study guides! - Super caring guy who's so sweet! - Graded on 4 exams, he drops the lowest scoring one ;) so you can skip the final if you want to!
Professor Larry is a great professor. Class was just lecture the entire time but topics were interesting. Passed the exams with an A and didnt put much effort into study. Pay attention in class and youll have no problem getting an A. Would recommend taking him. Easy A
Exams made me feel like WHAA? For unit1 I attended all the lectures, read chapters and did the study guide, I got a B. I didn't do much for the rest bc the effort I put in was too much for just a B. I ended up with a C. Work your ass off if you end up with him. Also he doesn't always reply to his emails *shifting online with him was terrible*
Everything was fine up until the transition to the online class. Being a class where your final grade depends on "x" out of "x" exams, I did well on the first exam. However, the transition changed the grading criteria. Got a big F on my last exam, having my final grade to a C. It was a GE course anyways, but man, don't take this during quarantine.
Worst professor in the POSC department. Do not take.
No homework, your entire grade is made up of 4 tests which he curves. His lectures are interesting and he's a nice guy. Stopped teaching during the switch to online in March though and just told us to read the textbook. Went to lectures, didn't study, and got a B on the first test with the curve.
Boring professor. Learning American Gov. shouldn't be this dry. Take someone else. I seriously had to consider switching majors because of him. His class is like a marathon and it's only a 100-level class. Save your sanity.
Easy class but a boring professor. He lectures for the entire class period. You can literally learn the same materials by watching youtube videos and that will engage you more. Don't waste your time and money. Go take a better professor.
With the online environment, it's really an asynchronous class. You meet 6 times the whole semester; he is really boring during lectures. He takes 10 min to answer 1 question, so if your class asks 6 questions, then that's the whole class. Get ready to read 18 chapters, be graded on 3 hard exams that are 75 questions long in 1hr 15min, & 2 essays.
Class was pretty much asynchronous. Didn't really lecture a whole lot during class cuz he always went on tangents. As long as you read and took notes from the book, exams were pretty easy. Graded hard on the papers, though. Focus on the exams and you'll pass.
I ADORE LARRY GEORGE. However, I can't lie all the reviews are spot on. He's a really nice guy and very easy going. Curves the test grades. His lectures are pretty boring and tends to stay on a topic for a good amount of class time but he's very informative so it doesn't bother me too much. He'll answer questions the best he can.
He's honestly such a sweet guy! But all the ratings are spot on. He loves discussing his power point slides and only graded on two papers and three quizzes/exams. He also curves the exams. Honestly, he's such a nice guy just likes to talk a lot, and beware if someone asks a question he can very easily go off topic... but he's very passionate.
2 Essays 2 Exams + final. Textbook isn't really needed but you can find it online for free. For exams just do study guide. Lectures a lot. Lecture slides will be posted so you don't need to take notes. No Homework other then the essays and studying for exam.
He is honestly so sweet and just a great person all around. He curves the tests so just try your best and you should do fine. The essays are easy and not harshly graded, if you answer the questions you should have no problem getting at least a B. You don't need to get the textbook at all, his lectures cover everything you need to know.
He is a great professor, anyone who is looking for posc100 has to take him. everything about the class was great and even though the class was big he answered every question he got. Do yourself a favor and take him, he allows students to voice their opinion in the class and in their papers. 100/10 best professor I have taken at CSULB.
Class is pretty easy but it is pretty hard to obtain an A since his essays are toughly graded. The exams are curved on the 2nd exam the curve made an F a C which helped people a lot. Lectures can be boring however he is very passionate about what he does. There is no homework whatsoever so just make sure you read the textbook and study.
super awesome person ! his knowledge on the subject is admirable, but that also leads to him straying off the topic oftentimes. lectures were alright, and papers weren't horrible. he curves grades!
he curved all tests, but like by a LOT. he easily goes on tangents (esp when a student asks a question), but he's very passionate and educated on the topic he talks about so it's not necessarily unenjoyable hahah.
Professor George is a nice guy and all but his lectures are boring so it was hard to pay attention. He managed to constantly bore me, maybe it was his tone but I could not stay engaged for long. There is also very few assignments, 4 or 3 exams and 3 essays is about it. Not too difficult but it hard to genuinely try.
really nice but super boring lectures. had a hard time in the class because it was so boring I couldn't help but fall asleep. total of 1 essay and 3 tests. assigns textbooks for reading and then also gives lectures. tests are based on both.
Hes soooooooooo boring he doesnt stop getting off topic and just get on my nerves i slept through the class so many times. His grading system is alr he curves grades jsut write really well on your essays and you should be good
His lectures are boring and he tends to go on and on about the same thing, but just take notes or something so you don't fall asleep. If you go to the lectures and set aside a couple days before each quiz to take notes on the reading you'll get an A easy. There was 3 quizzes and a 1k word essay.
Lectures were long and super boring, but he gives out a decent amount of extra credit for random reasons. doesn't post all the information onto canvas, so you have to go to class to know what will be on the tests. One paper and 3 exams, all which of were really easy and basic knowledge for poly sci. super easy class.
Lectures can be a bit dry, but the professor really knows his stuff. Throw in some unstuck ai for study prep, and you'll be golden. Curve on exams helps offset the tough grading on essays.
Into history and making connections to political theory, you are in the right place. Attendance is 1/3 of your grade. Midterm and final exams are the other 2/3. The learning objectives get hit in the lectures, but read the book as well. If you are in the right place it is an easy and fun class. Time flies by at the speed you enjoy the content.
I've never been so bored in a class in my entire life. He just yaps about whatever he wants that's not super related to the topics and then your only grades are attendance and two tests. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be taking notes on. He will spend weeks on one topic bc he feels the need to recap what he talked about last class. Unbearable.
Professor George is a kind man. He is caring. He does go off on tangents, but they are informational. Would take his class again. 2/3 of your grade is attendance, and you are graded on a few things so make sure to go. Tests are easy if you pay attention to his lectures. Definitely recommend.
His class is very lecture heavy and he does talk a lot, but the course work is very minimal. One paper and 3 exams, which were all fairly easy. Attendance isn't mandatory and he gives lots of extra credit. Super chill and easy class overall.
Professor George loves to ramble. Sometimes it's very insightful and sometimes it's a list of a million examples of an easy topic. He posts his slides that he reads off of in class. Only assigned one essay the entire semester and gave 3 exams, one of them being the final. As long as you can stay awake in his lectures and read, you're good.
