Really smart guy. Knows what he's talking about but can explain it really down to Earth. No homework, no tests. Just essays that you have a long time to write. Take decent notes and the essays are pretty easy. Lots of little books to buy, but I didn't buy most of them (maybe 2). Took roll. I really liked taking his class.
Really awesome dude!!! Very laid back and chill. Just make sure you take good notes, read, study and you'll do great. Feel free to ask questions and participate in discussion but no pressure. It'll help your understanding of things though! Great class!
Great teacher. He is definitely the best history teacher I've ever had. He has a great sense of humor and his tests have several essays and short answers and he allows you to pick which ones you want to write on. He understands that we are college students and that history is not our whole life. He is the best. Take him!
Dr. Grubbs is a really funny and intelligent history teacher. he knows and it shows. he doesnt give any tests just really long essays. you have to buy a bunch of little books and are supposed to read each one in a week, depending on how well you want to write your paper.
Professor Grubbs is a really great teacher. He's super knowledgeable and really cool. He's probably the best teacher I've ever had. All students should take his class. And he's hot too!
This is the best professor at GSU, period. I admire him a lot. He's funny, smart, intelligent, young and just an amazing teacher. I want to take more Hist classes just because of him. There is no in-class tests, all of them are take home and they are all essays, which is great because you learn much more that way. GSU needs more pr. like Dr. Grubbs
AMAZING TEACHER! i really liked his class! enjoyed every moment of it! I wish i could have him as a teacher again! PLEASE take his class. you'll love it!
I agree with everyone also. Take him!! He makes class interesting and incorperates current life into the past. Take home midterm and final, and only little inclass writings and a paper to do.
Grubbs was an awesome teacher who knows his stuff! Class was interesting and I enjoyed going. Take notes, bc your tests are take home papers about 2 pages long. You read one book and do a paper on that also. As long as you have the main points from the notes in the paper, you are set! Highly agree with other comments.
If you come to class, listen, and take notes then you'll get an A. There are 10 quizzes and 1 paper. Extra credit assignment at the end. The quizzes come from the notes you take in class. There are no tests. I don't know what the other people are talking about with the take home tests but the Dr. Larry Grubbs I had class was ran like this.
Hes very passionate about history and a nice guy. I got the feeling though that he wasnt even grading our quizzes. I got 9 81's in a row. And when I asked him to explain my grade he was extremely vague, didnt help me at all.
I love Mr. Grubbs. He has a wonderful speaking voice, very passionate. Easy to understand. Quizzes are informal. He grades pretty fair. When he walks, he sways with this gangsta swagga lol and I love it. He's your all around BAD ASS lol.
Take him if you can. He is a great teacher! Super passionate about History and he's super cool! You will do well if you go to class. He is not tricky and will reward you for putting in the effort. Highly recommend
Dr. Grubbs is a fantastic professor. His lectures were always interesting and I looked forward to the class. We had a quiz every other time the class met, which means NO TESTS! He gave us a choice between 2 short-essay questions per quiz and they covered lecture material & assigned reading. One paper at the end of the semester. TAKE DR. GRUBBS!!!
His lectures made me want to learn, he made the content interesting. He's like a big storybook for a teacher. He made students feel stupid for asking questions sometimes, but all in good fun. He's a little bit of a sarcastic guy, but I like that. His grading was really subjective; it was hard to know exactly what he wanted. Overall, a good teacher.
Bases grades off of quizzes, writing assignments, and a formal essay. This course was easier than it should have been, but if you apply yourself you can attain fundamental knowledge on US History. Highly recommend solely for his lecturing capabilities.
This is the best history class I have had hands down. Attendance was not mandatory, but there were informal writing assignments almost every class which are a huge chunk of the final grade. His tests are in long essay form and are not easy, but if you go to class, you can manage. Good sense of humor!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! he grades his tests and papers very unfairly. I went to him several times before each test and paper to make sure i was on the right track. He'd always assure me that I was, but then when i got my paper back it would be a C! he wouldn't even have corrections on the paper, it'd be completely blank with a big fat C at the end.
An alright professor. Doesn't make many written remarks/comments on quizzes or papers. No final..just quizzes and 2 papers.
He was a very good lecturer, and I really enjoyed that we had 8 quizzes, two papers, and no tests. This way as long as you go to class all the time you will pretty much know what is on every quiz, which he gives out about every 2 weeks or so. I've always had really bland history teachers but he helped to make the subject more interesting.
Only meet for class for two weeks and then we met with him individually for the rest of the semester on our individual topics. He is extremely helpful, but intimidating because he knows his stuff. As long as you are prepared and do the work, he is super helpful and always trying to better your research.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. Do not take him. He only assigns papers and DOES NOT READ THEM. He just puts arbitrarily low grades on them at the end, and leaves no comments on them. If you get a grade u dont like, go to his office and you will discover that he has not read the paper by the incorrect and general criticisms of them. Horrible.
pretty cool. just go to class and do your work to pass. he is also very lenient.
He makes the material extremely interesting. I never fell asleep once in his class. The 7 quizzes are short-written essays over specific topics discussed in class, and he usually gives you 2 to 3 options to write about. As long as you pay attention in class, you'll do well.
If every history teacher were more like Grubbs, I would actually learn something. Instead of a huge textbook, he just uses 3 small paperbacks that are really focused on the material and help you understand WHY events happened, not just the names and dates. I loved that the class was mostly essays, but if that's not you, don't take this class.
Grubbs is incredibly intelligent. He takes himself way too seriously but he is a perfect lecturer. He is focused and interesting and the books he selects are perfectly fitted to his class. I loved this class; I've never had a professor make the subject so interesting. The written responses force you to read the text so falling behind is hard to do.
This professor is great! He is very passionate about what he is talking about and makes everything more interesting. This is exactly how such a boring subject as History should be thought. Also, there is no final exam. We did few written assignments, but were graded only on understanding of the facts, and not on spelling or grammar.
Great at making lectures intriguing. Pro Grubbs speaks with a lot of passion, humor, & relates history to a direct link of the world today. Papers are read & graded accordingly. I got a C on my 1st two papers. I took him my papers. He looked ea over, told me areas of improvement (little vague), but i made those chngs & i got A's the rest of the yr.
Charismatic! Extremely funny & very insightful. His class is nothing less than amazing. Quite a bit of reading & writing but very manageable. Awesome class!
i hate history with a passion but he really made his lectures interesting enough for me to actually stay awake and make a good grade. highly recommend him. you will actually learn in his class.
He is a great history professor. His enthusiasm and clarity when explaining the sometimes dull topics gets the class's attention. I like that he is extremely detailed in his speech which makes the information more clearer. His assignments are also focused on specific subjects so it is fairly easy to receive an A if you put some work in it.
Super easy! Take him!! no tests :) just quizzes and easy writing assignments.
Teacher is humorous and makes class interesting.
Class was a joke. No tests only quizzes. Grubbs is very passionate about History. Highest possible grade on the quizzes was 20 but he very rarely gave out 20's no matter how awesome your quiz essay was. That is the downside.
He makes history sound like a movie trailer. I slept through most of his class cause it was at 9 in the morning, but was recording his lectures on my phone. After I get home and I play the recording, it feels like I'm in a theatre watching trailers about historical events. There is no final in his class and only quizzes response papers and 2 essays. Very chill and laid back. I wish he taught higher level history so I could take him!!!!
Professor Grubbs is probably the best professor I've had in my entire college career. He is very passionate and he knows exactly what he is talking about. There are no exams but 2 essays, other short writing assignments, and quizzes. No textbook is needed and class is not mandatory BUT if you want a good grade on quizzes, listen to his lectures.
Attendance is not taken, but it is mandatory to do well in Professor Grubbs' class. There are no tests, no final, and no book. There are two essays and usually one homework assignment a week that consists of reading a document and answering questions. Take good notes during his lectures for the quizzes. Grubbs is a great teacher! Take this class!
very great teacher for a boring subject! you can tell he is very passionate and he shows us in interesting way! TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
Amazing Professor one of best I've had. No tests only quizzes he gives topics or the quiz so you can pass it easily. If your a hard major looking for a chill class TAKE HIM!!!
SUPER EASY. 2 papers & 10 quizzes. Tells you the EXACT question for the quiz. He's very passionate about the subject. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Great Teacher! Makes foreign policy entertaining. I recommend you start on your research for your paper early and no wait till the last minute.
Amazing teacher!!!! Makes history VERY interesting & you develop your own interest in it. Very charismatic & tells a story rather than teach. Class lectures are never boring, quizzes are easy. Homework is simple. Easy easy A & I recommend him to everyone
He's a great and easy teacher! He makes history so interesting and fun. No test, no final, no homework. Just quizzes(which he tells you what to study for) and two essays about two books that your suppose to read but you don't really have to read them to write the essay. He's awesome, super easy A!
Attendance isn't mandatory, but show up most of the time and take good notes for the quizzes. If you pretty much write exactly what he says in his lecture you should get an A on the quizzes. No tests, final, or textbook. He doesn't give feedback or seem to really care. It's a pretty easy class, just don't get lazy since it's so laid back.
Class was easy and teacher awesome. He is himself and class was jus soo lame to even give a crap. He keeps it real despite it and going to class is actually quite interesting and the readings are practical. Real enjoyed
He is a VERY easy and relaxed instructor. He is detailed in his lectures, which is it. There are NO TESTS, ONLY HW and quizzes. Just make sure you listen to his lectures so that you don't miss any details for the quizzes. NO textbooks!!
He is VERY easy. There are NO textbooks or tests. ONLY HW and quizzes and lecture. So just make sure to listen closely to the lectures so you won't forget details for the quizzes.
I hate history, but he makes it some what interesting. It was an easy class, no tests, just quizzes, reading assignments, and a book essay. He never gave feedback on anything. Overall,he was good professor
Dr. Grubbs made class so interesting, since I hate history. You have an option of attending classes or not, and I chose to go because I was engaged to learn about history from him. There are 9 quizzes, and reading assignments, and one book essay. This class was one of my favorite classes this semester. I would love to take another class with him.
Dr. Grubbs is very flexible and down to Earth. He's so passionate and knowledgable. Weekly quizzes are easy. Take detailed, through notes. No tests and one 5 page paper towards the end of the semester. He's really laid back. Made me like history!
He gives you only the information that you need to know. Get out early often. Only quizzes. No test, text, or final. Some reading responses. Almost impossible to get a perfect score on quizzes. Not hard to get an A, just take notes, and write pretty much exactly what he said for the quizzes. This class wasn't my favorite but I got an A-
No test! only quizzes which ive never seen him give lower than a B-. Hes not very interesting to listen to but I just attend class to voice record his lectures. 1 five page essay but he grades easy, I got an A on mines. I would recommend his class.
Great teacher! Made US history interesting. No test at all! No textbook! Easy class. Attendance recommended 2 understand what will be on quizzes.
LG as he likes to be called is the best history professor I've ever had. His lectures are incredible and there is no textbook or tests. There are just quizzes and short informal writing assignments. He doesn't grade on writing formalities grammar, spelling, etc just content. You will do well in this class if you show up and listen.
Dr. Grubbs is one of the finest professors in the department of history at GSU (quite a distinction considering the high quality of the history professors here). For your 4990-CTW course, expect constructive feedback and guidance as you progress through your senior thesis; just remember to be proactive in seeking it.
LG gives short informal writing quizzes over his lectures. Tells you specifically what's going to be on it the class before (usually you get to pick 1 from 2 topics to write about). All you need to do is attend the lectures and you'll be fine. He's also super lenient with grading. 1 writing assignment at the end of semester. Loved his class easy A!
No tests, no final exam, easy A. 5-6 page paper is practically your final but besides that you only have quizzes and reading responses. Quizzes are open-ended but are easy because it is only one question. He cancels class a lot and lets you out early occasionally.
Lectures are interesting but very repetitive but in a good way! Very nice guy with a and passion for what he speaks about. No tests, just simple paragraph quizzes based on lectures. Homework is simple, but there is one major essay towards the end of the semester. Even though lectures get boring sometimes, he's a nice guy and cancels class often!
AMAZING TEACHER!!!! If you have to take history he is the top teacher to take. Really short classes readings are average not pain staking. He gives extra and ample amount of time for all assignments. a quiz almost every week but super easy. He tells you what the quiz is on just attend class for notes. If you miss a quiz u get to make up at the end
LG (as he asked us to call him) was extremely laid back, so much so that I never attended class and still did very well. He doesn't use a textbook whatsoever and doesn't give a single test. All you need to worry about is studying quiz material maybe 20 minutes before hand, the occasional informal responses, and a 4-6 page paper midway through
Best class I've ever taken. No tests, never studied once, got out of class 45 minutes early every day and yet I learned more in this class than any other in my entire college career. Unbelievably good.
Best teacher ever!!!!!!! HILARIOUS. DEFINITELY an easy A. Must take. No question about it!
LG is awesome! He'll make your time worthwhile with amazing lectures! Tests and quizzes are easy and there is no final exam. He is very helpful, funny, clever and an easy grader. Definitely recommend this class!
Great teacher. He made this class enjoyable and didn't make it difficult at all. Attendance was not mandatory, but you should still go. He's very smart.
I love LG- honestly was super interested in his lectures for the most part. He is a really cool guy and super informed. The textbook was online so you don't have to buy it. Super chill and he loves what he does.
LG is the absolute best, a real gem. He really cares about what he does, and his lectures are hardly boring. He always tells you before hand when quizzes and responses are due and grades them very fairly. There is no final in this class. If you do your responses and come at leas to the review classes before quizzes you'll be fine.
Awesome awesome teacher. The best thing about this class is that LG is so knowledgeable. He lectures in a very casual and conversational manner, which makes the content easier to remember. Quizzes and responses are easy and this class literally taught me the most that I've learned about US History since I started school.
Grubbs is really cool. He's chill but his lectures are really boring. You don't really have to come to class to pass but most of the time in his lectures he tells exactly what to do on the quizzes. Record his lectures or just research on your own at home and you'll do well on his quizzes (your only grade in his class + the at home responses)
Very cool and smart. He's passionate about what he's teaching, and he wants you to learn. His lectures are engaging and he only occasionally uses Powerpoints to show videos and images. He talks extensively about social issues (i.e. race, gender) in history + is respectful about it. The textbook is online and free. He's very helpful with questions.
Really cool guy. No tests, 6 quizzes, 2 papers +reading responses. Textbook is online and free. He's pretty lenient when it comes to turning things in late. He really knows his stuff and tries to engage the whole class in discussions. Attendance not mandatory, but he goes over quiz answers the class before the quiz, so I'd recommend going.
LG is very down to earth. Teaches class like a friendly conversation, so the information sinks in. TBH, you could get an A without taking notes. Just write long paragraphs on the open ended quizzes and an A is in the bag. Homework assignments are automatic A. If you care about your GPA, this guy is a definite choice.... So, go take this class!! Lol
Class was very easy. You could even pull off an easy A+ and only show up on quiz days. Assignments are due a long time after they're given, so it can be tempting to procrastinate. Other than that, this class was so chill. Must take.
I took him last semester. He was chill. There wasn't much homework and there were huge gaps between the due dates and they were easy. Quizzes are free response but he didn't give much feedback which sucked. Make sure you come on quiz days and you will be ok. The textbook is free and online which is a huge bonus.
he is a pretty solid teacher. honestly had class for like 20 min and he let out. this wasnt bad though because his tests were so simple. seriously, such an easy class.
Dr. LG is a cool guy , very old school teaching and grading . Attendance isn't mandatory , but if you do come you wont have to study for quizzes, there are NO test, only quizzes and two papers . Easy papers with interesting topics. If you turn in everything and give a little effort , theirs no way you can make less than a B. TAKE HIM.
LG is a great professor! He loves what he teaches & does a really good job at it. Attendance isn't mandatory and there are no tests, just 7 quizzes and 2 short essays, and no final!! He's lenient on turning things in and super understandable. Gives you all the resources you need (including online textbook) so really no need to go to class. Easy A.
Think of the most amazing and soothing history podcast. This is it. I was falling asleep to the sound of his voice, but yet I learned so much about history. I love this guy!
The absolute best! Only quizzes, no test or final, and 2 papers over 2 different movies. Attendance isnt mandatory. Hes very chill and funny. An easy A if you read over the 2 terms for the quiz before you take it or attend the classes and he tells the exact answers to the 4 quiz questions which are always the same.
no final or midterm. two papers over interesting films! he grades these on content rather than properness/grammar. although attendance isnt mandatory, i always looked forward to his lectures! textbook is online & free.
This was by far the best professor i had this year. His lectures aren't that long at all and he makes jokes. He is an amazing teacher. You take quizzes on what he lectures every two weeks. The quizzes aren't that hard. He lets you know EXACTLY what is going to be on the quizzes so if you fail this class, it's your fault. class is a easy A.
Professor LG is phenomenal at what he does. Just as he introduces himself HE IS A TRUE HISTORIAN. There was not one lecture I was not interested in. He gives 7 easy quizzes with EXACT terms to be asked of. No finals no midterm. He also gives 3 informal writing responses which were easy as well. One of the simplest classes Ive taken.
LG is an amazing professor. He truly cares about what he teaches and he makes lectures interesting. Lectures are not mandatory, but I would recommend them because they essentially tell you what you need to write down on the quizzes. Six quizzes, 3 homework assignments. He often cancels classes and lets you out early. Take his class!
LG is a great professor. His lectures are super interesting but you dont even need to go to class to do well. 6 quizzes and 2 papers over a movie and article. Tells you the exact terms for the quiz the class before and you dont even need to go. Usually I pre-wrote them and turned them in. Hes a great person so take him.
loved him, wonderful lectures, if you don't take notes or record lectures though you're gonna be screwed.
LG is an AMAZING Instructor! He's very passionate about the topics, and his lectures are very interesting/engaging. He actually made me WANT to attend his lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory, although, NOTE TAKING is KEY in his class, so you will need to be present. No tests, just quizzes, and a few papers. Take him, you'll enjoy the experience.
Loved this class. I would take agin... I recommend him for history!!!! Hardly any work
He was AMAZING!! I really despise history but his class is a must take! Free online textbook, only quizzes based on terms learned each lecture (no tests), and 2 papers (one was on a film and the other was on a really long article) and attendance isnt required but encouraged. Really wish he taught more classes! 10/10 would take again
Literally the best professor ever. He is really laid back and chill. Theres no midterm or final. Only 6 quizzes, which are super easy, and 4 responses. He does lecture but its not boring at all. As long as you keep up with the reading and take some notes on his lectures youll pass the class. Also the textbook is free
I absolutely loved this class! I don't care for USHistory but LG is an amazing professor. Attendance isn't graded but if you show up to every lecture and take notes you will get an A on the 6 quizzes throughout the semester. He makes USHistory interesting. No final/midterm. You're given 3-4 topics to write about for the quizzes. Easy A
Textbook is free. Only 6 quizzes through the semester. Literally so easy and hes funny. Definitely take him if you have to take US History
Great Professor! I'd def take him again. Only 6 quizzes, no test or final. Lectures aren't too long and they're very engaging. He's extremely laid back and canceled class every Friday since the beginning of the semester.
Pretty nice class, Easy A. 6 quizzes & only 2 responses (2-3 pages, informal) NO final! Easy class, all you have to do is attend and take notes. You have to take notes while he's speaking, there's no powerpoints, just his words. Textbook is FREE! You don't need to read it if you are good at taking notes off of someone talking, if not, then read it.
Best professor ever! always cancelled class on friday, just show up take notes on his lectures and youll get an A on every quiz(6 in total), two papers both are easy, and no final/tests. I hate history but he made it fun, honestly great teacher, ended up getting an A+
He is honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are interesting to listen to. I would suggest going to class since his quizzes are basically what he talks about. We only had 5 quizzes & no final/midterm. (sounds hard, but it really isn't) You will have 2 writing assignments, but they are super straight forward. Overall great
He isn't the worst or the best history teacher. Definitely passable but pretty boring with lots of writing. No midterms or finals or anything. Just 6 written quizzes and 2 essays.
Good professor lectures are good if you care about history. Did not take attendance. No tests or homework. Just 6 written quizzes and he tells you the topics in advance and 2 essays. Provides free online textbook but you dont really need it. Just take notes and youll be fine. Also if you miss an assignment he is understanding.
The most easiest class ever
LG is great! We had 5 open-response quizzes (60% of the grade) and 2 papers (around 3 pgs, 40% of the grade). The textbook is American Yawp, an open source book. Attendance was not mandatory, he assigned chapters in the book and lectured a summary of them, so you could get away with only doing readings or only listening in class.
LG is one of the best!!! easy grader, interesting lectures! no test only 5 quizzes which are written explanations. 2 papers but don't worry. attendance is mandatory because he doesn't use slides or post anything, everything is oral. text book is free and he teaches based off of it.
Very very very easy class. Grubbs was so awesome. If he ended his lectures early, which he often did, class was over. Sometimes class took no more than 15-20 minutes on a good day. Material was very easy to understand, and he made it applicable to modern times. Loved it!
Really easy going guy, show up to the lectures and you'll pass with no problem. I was able to do all of his test and quizzes with little to no studying because his lectures are detailed and interesting so I was able to answer all of the questions on his test and quizzes based purely off what I remembered from his lectures
Im sure LG is better in person and hes a nice person. But online during covid 0/10 dont recommend. I didnt learn anything and he doesnt teach. We read from the textbook and took a test. Most of the material from the book wasnt on the tests, but the tests didnt use lockdown browser. If you can learn like that go ahead and take him.
Very textbook oriented due to covid, but that was the same with all my classes at Gsu this semester. The best prof I've had based on how chill and engaging he was. Cool guy and really enjoyed the class, his historical input was very intriguing and overall a good experience with LG. I recommend the class 10/10
This class was fairly easy. We had weekly quizzes, no final exam, and two papers. Each week we were assigned a "module" consisting of a reading, a few videos, and maybe a lecture. They were time-consuming to complete, but not difficult. The modules and the quizzes are posted on a very irregular schedule, making it hard to schedule your work.
The class was mediocre. We had a quiz every week but sometimes it had information that wasn't on the reading. There are two essays due but he is very lenient when grading them. Though it's only a chapter or two a week, they are long and time-consuming. He posted the content irregularly, making it hard to schedule your work ahead of time.
You literally have 10 quizzes and 2 essays. The quizzes are alright you have to really read, but if you know the information you'll pass. The essays are okay as well, nothing too dramatic just 3-4 pages. but doesn't give feedback on the essays and he took forever to update the grades in college then did it incorrectly.
The quizzes are so hard and the wording is confusing. There are only ten quizzes and two essays so you can't really mess up. I'm usually so good at us history but this class was hard for me. He can also take a while to reply to emails and isn't understanding about how wording on quizzes are confusing.
Grubbs was amazing would definitely take this class again!! 10 easy quizzes (just make sure you read read read) & theyre all open book. 2 easy A essays
While I personally did not do well in this class, it was because I rarely did the textbook readings. Only gives you readings and a few videos. Only quizzes no final, 2 3 page essays. Questions on quizzes worded weird, but open note. If you do the readings, which I did not, you'll be fine.
For his online class he just posts a bunch of quizzes and two writing assignments. Honestly not a very hard class and he's very nice about deadlines. Just be ready to read A LOT since the textbook is what will get you to pass.
His class is pretty straight-forward. The only issue that I had was he was hard to get in contact with. Other than that, I would say his class was pretty easy. 10 quizzes and 2 essays. Make sure to read the textbook and to take your time. Sometimes the questions on the quiz will not be in the textbook. Try your best and read as much as possible.
10 quizzes. His quizzes were worded weirdly sometimes. The essays were easy but he didnt really give feedback. super chill easy class.
An online class that revolved around taking a quiz every week and two essays that I'm pretty sure he just gave anyone who tried a 95% on. Easy class, seems like a nice guy. Takes late work.
Really easy class but Im lowkey salty because Im pretty sure he gave everyone a 95 on the first essay even tho I tried my best lol and he only gave us a 100 on the second one if we turned it in early but easy overall. No stress except the quizzes had a few questions that werent on the reading. Oh yeah, he provides the textbook for us so save $
LG is the best professor ive had so far. There are no test and no final exam. Class is so easy to pass. No need to pay for textbook he gives it to you through icollege :) DEFINITELY TAKE THIS CLASS. A CLASS
Super easy! I don't typically check RateMyProfessor, and I just chose a random professor, but I'm glad it was him. Textbook provided. Quizzes like every two weeks, but you can get by looking at Quizlets or studying with other people and get the main points needed.
The textbook is on a website that is open to anyone. We had quizzes during class. These quizzes were straightforward since it was mainly writing a whole paragraph of what you learned in the lecture; and what were the fundamental points according to the time period.
Dr.Grubbs was amazing but his quizzes are challenging as his questions are tricky and also has two essays that he grades easily. He gives an extension on the due date if you email him and is caring.
9-10 quizzes and 2 papers thats it. The quizzes can be tricky as he makes his own questions and words them weird sometimes, a lot of true/false. He is not good at communication, but the course only needs focus when there is a quiz or when its time for the papers. Not easy but not hard really. the papers just put in effort and you'll get atleast a B
Easiest class ever...Quizzes and 2 essays and he doesn't grade harshly at all... Pretty sure he gave the whole class 95s on the essays both times.
He was alright some of his lectures I would daze off but that could be because I was bored, he tells you what the quiz is going to be on thou cramming all the information can be hard and I couldn't get an A, he was interesting and a nice professor seeing other reviews online might be the way to go, the in-person class might be little more demand
He is a good professor. He gives 9 quizzes and 2 essays.
Took this class Spring 2023. HIST2110 online. Super chill and hands off. FREE textbook. Just actually read it and you're golden. It's not even a lot of reading. 10ish quizzes and 2 essays and that's it. The quizzes are obviously designed to make it hard to cheat. (Not easily googleable.) Read the chapter and you wont have to.
There were 6 tests and 1 mandatory essay this semester. His test are graded based on your ability to recall information. Nothing is really hard for the class. He doesn't take attendance but I wouldn't recommend skipping. He talks a lot, but he's really passionate about it and know his stuff. Overall a cool guy, likes to make jokes.
LG was great! he was very funny and a helpful teacher! he cusses like a sailor and attendance is not mandatory at all, its very much self teachable but hes great at teaching so i wouldnt miss out on it. online free textbook u dont even have to read.about 7 or so quizzes, 2 papers (1 was optional) and he always lets class out early. easy A.
Loose deadlines, and an understanding professor. Didn't get to interact much bc it was online. Textbook is online and free. 1 quiz per module (about 10 total) and 2 essays for the whole term. Sometimes content was used from previous terms and was not updated/was out of order which made things confusing at times. Would take again.
Taking U.S. History online with Larry Grubbs was a great decision! I usually struggle with online courses, but the way that Grubbs formatted his course was straightforward. As a huge bonus, you do not have to purchase a textbook, it is provided for you! We took 10 MCQ quizzes and 2 essays. As long as you stay on top of your work, this is an easy A.
He is one of the best history teachers I ever had. The textbook that he teaches from is free. He explains everything like a story in the class due to which his lectures are really amazing. He also doesn't give any homework and takes 2 quizzes a monthand those quizzes can be written even without studying. He is also a very lenient and understanding.
Genuinely the best history professor I have ever had. He goes through lectures like he is telling a story, and he genuinely is very engaging. He basically tells you what's going to be on the quizzes, so as long as you read the textbook, you will be totally fine. The two papers at the end of the semester were kind of annoying, though.
As a student who has always disliked anything to do with history, this was the first professor to actually keep me engaged and want to learn history! He is an excellent teacher and a genuine person, I'm sad that I won't take his class anymore and would definitely take his class again.
He is so genuine and passionate about history! His lectures are like stories. It's actually easier to understand history by listening to his lectures than to read the textbook, so definitely show up for class and take notes! Ask him how he got into history and teaching in the first place, it's funny and quite charming.
Professor Grubbs' HIST2110 class is a solid choice. The online format with a free textbook makes it quite manageable. Stay on top of the 10 quizzes and 2 essays, and you're looking at an easy A. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for quiz prep.
I really enjoyed this class and him as a professor. He makes lecturing history fun and easy to engage with to where you'd actually want to pay attention. For classwork, it was very easy. No homework, just 4 quizzes in the form of writing 3 paragraphs and 1 short essay. Def recommend.
LG's class is very easy. There are only four quizzes and one, three-page essay throughout the entire semester. He tells you all the info that's on the quizzes so it's impossible to fail. The only downside is that it's easy to get distracted during lectures because he's a very calm guy and may be seen as boring to some people, but he's chill fr.
Just show up to class and listen, and you'll do fine. He's very kind and will answer any of your questions.
Excellent professor. Just come to class and take notes and you'll be fine.
I took Mr. Grubbs' U.S History class in 10th grade, dual enrollment. His class was easy and Mr. Grubbs was always down to help. He gave us notes and powerpoints, we would self-learn, and he would give us quizzes (you could re-take it) and essays, which all were very easy.
