He's really nice. If you just pay attention in class and take a couple notes you should do pretty good.
Very easy class. If you study you should have no trouble making an A.
Very easy, and a really nice guy, just pay attention. The tests are fairly easy as long as you look over the material its basically word for word. He wanders off topic alot and tells lots of stories.
really easy no need to pay attention in class he gives study guides and everything comes straight from the book
Super nice guy! Does tell alot of stories but they relate to the lesson. Recomend him to anyone. Great Teacher.
He helped with anything you need.
watch out for the business project. if you do a good job, he'll **** you on the grade
Supper easy, get slides off the web, read the book- the tests are basicly just out of that. Must do hw...but you can get it done in class. Busness project probly the worst part. Class can be boring..but can be an easy A
Study guides for every test. He's entertaining. The class was a breeze.
Very good business teacher... really has interest in what he's teaching. Homework is given on a regular basis but it's super easy and can be done in no time. Tests were very fair and he drops your lowest test grade at the end of the quarter. Cool guy.
I had him for AB 110 and this class. He is a good teacher and it's not hard to make an A.
I learned nothing in this class. His teaching method need to be revamped. He takes everything strictly from the book then tries to dice it up on test. Not very good teacher if you actually want to learn something, but is a nice guy if that counts for anything.
Print powerpoint and read the book, you shouldn't have to go to class. He always lets you out early. He gives you a study guide for each test (it's exactly what's on the test!)
This class can be boring at times, but Mr. Jarrell knows his marketing! It constantly tells how things were done in his store to help clarify different questions. Homework is easy, the hardest thing in his class is the Business Project at the end of the quarter. Other than that its a good class and he is a good teacher!
Easy, that's just it
Great teacher...great class...provides an outline for tests...just read pages referenced and you'll do fine. Have to do a business plan...never done one but it turned out to be okay.
I learned alot in his Retail Management class. I highly recommend taking this class under prof. jerrel to everyone.
This class was super easy. He was a good teacher and very helpful. He gives a study guide for every test and as long as you do it, you will make an A. You do have to complete a business presentation in front of class, but he grades fairly and it's not as hard as I thought. He was overall a great teacher.
One of the nicest teachers I've ever had. He also has exp. in the real business world which he relates to his teaching. Yeah his class is really easy and not much work is required to do well in it but for a starter class it serves it's purpose.
His class was very easy!! I really enjoyed it and would love to take it again if I could!! I highly recommend his class to any marketing or business majors
I really enjoyed this class. Mr. Jarrell is a great teacher with a lot of personal experience in running a business. Tests were very easy--just go over the study guide. Class material wasn't that interesting, but atleast it's easy! I learned a lot about business and its major principles.
He is super sweet and easy. Notes come straight from the book but he does not put powerpoints on blackboard. I would suggest studying for the test though. Some of the material is kinda hard and just takes some memorization.
Mr. Jarrell is awesome. His class is really easy and homework only takes 5 minutes. Business project is the hardest part of the class. I recommend him to everyone.
Has lots of experience about what he teaches. The class can get really boring fast with nothing but powerpoints, but the tests are pretty easy if you look at the study guide (which he now posts on Blackboard). Only really hard thing is the business plan at the end.
Mr. Jarrell is a genuinely nice guy. His tests are fair and he's willing to help you. Read the chapters in the book, do your homework, show up to class, and do well on your business plan. This guarantees an A.
VERY easy class if you read your book. you dont even really have to pay attention in class, all the stuff comes from the book. the business plan however, blows. make sure you get partners you can trust to help you on it and will pull their load. if you dont, your screwed. but easy class and nice guy.
Mr. Jarrell was a great teacher - he does spend a little too long on each PowerPoint slide, but he gets his point accross. He needs some work on his study guides, but overall, he's a great teacher!
Great teacher! Made my freshman year an easy start to college. Very nice professor, very helpful, very easy. Definitely recommend him to anyone.
Incredible teacher. Made my transition into Accounting very easy, and worked with me to make sure I knew what was going on. I was SO close to making an A. Excellent guy, kinda funny to make fun of too. Has great study guides accessible.
Jarrell is a really nice guy. He likes talking about his business that he used to own. The hardest thing in this class is the Business Plan project. As long as you get a good group you will do fine. Easy B, work a little bit harder and it's an A. Lots of homework but it helps your grade.
Not too bad! His class is pretty interesting!
Pretty easy class
He is the sweetest guy you'll ever meet, but his tests are nothing like the study guide he gives you. I made Cs and one B (and I only got the B after I read over 6 chapters before the test) You have to do a busn plan that he gives barely any info on. Good luck
One of the best professor's I had at Tech. He really cares about his students and tries to teach the material in an enthusiastic manner. He also enjoys what he's doing and it shows. I actually enjoyed attending his class despite having to wake up at 7:00am. Overall great teacher and I highly recommend him!
His class is easy. It is a basic class so it is hard for it not to be. Homework every night, BUT it's only four or five questions and they are usually on the tests.
i d0nT mEaN 2 braGg, but i 2 found fresh markets 2 ez of a cla55
Mr. Jarrell has to be one of the coolest and most helpful teachers at LA Tech. His homework assignments are daily, but simple. His exams go along with his study guides for the most part. There is also a group project at the end of the quarter that is simple. A 6-page paper is required, but it's not bad. I highly recommend taking Jarrell.
Jarrel is a nice guy and he treis to make the class enjoyable. LOTS of homework, basically everyday. The class is pretty easy so I suggest it if you wanna slide by. There is a good amount of busy work so be prepared.
The textbook is extremely important because you will have homework from it every day. The class is easy but the lectures are beyond boring. Go to class and do your homework because it is a large part of your grade.
His lectures are really straight forward but he stopped giving study guides, so his tests were sort of difficult. Don't let group project at the end scare you. It wasn't bad at all!
One of the easiest classes you'll take at Tech.
Jarrell's lecture consists entirely of powerpoints pulled straight from the cengage website with some side commentary and silly stories on his part. Very boring. However, his tests are the real deal. They will sneak up on you if you are not prepared. He drops your lowest test grade. Comprehensive final is easiest out of all of them.
Mr. Jarrell is one of the nicest teachers I have had. Make sure to do your daily homework assignments! Also, the tests will sneak up on you and they are usually over around 6 chapters of information. But if you prepare, you will do fine! Also, don't let the final business plan project scare you! It's not as bad as it seems!
Mr. Jarrell is such a cool dude and I enjoyed his class. It can get boring just going over PowerPoints and stuff, but Jarrell is friendly and ready to help if needed. Tests aren't too hard as long as you study like he tells you. Pick good partners for the Business Plan project; it makes it a lot easier. Hope to have Jarrell again down the road!
He lectures from the powerpoints he puts on moodle. You mostly need to know and be able to apply the vocabulary, and you will do fine on the tests. Pick your business plan partners wisely! Getting stuck with a bad partner(s) can make you do all the work alone in the end. Your homework answers come straight from the book. Word for word questions.
Dr. Jarrell is a great teacher. He makes class interesting and has a nice personality. He is concerned that you learn the material. There is homework due every class period up until the business plan presentations. The business plan is a group project and is worth 1/5 of your grade. Choose group members carefully. Overall this was a nice class.
The material he teaches is basic and boring but he's anything but. You may need the book. No quizzes. A few tests and a group project at the end of quarter. Definitely an enjoyable class.
Love him. If I could choose one person to teach all my classes, it would be him
He actually cares. Clear and fair grader. Do the homework and tests are as advertised.
Tests are super hard but you only have 4. I never made above a B on his tests. Buy/Rent the textbook because you'll use it for homework, and you will need it to study for your tests. Don't listen to him when he says "just study key terms and summaries" READ THE TEXTBOOK. Business plan at the end wasn't that bad.
Didn't buy the book b/c all the slides are on moodle and the information is so basic Google had what I needed. Lectures feel long, his voice put me to sleep. 3-5 questions for homework before every class period. Drops lowest test score. Tough group project at the end of the quarter, choose your partners wisely and don't wait til the last minute!
Easy A
You need to be in class every time
Good Professor, Easy A if you just go to class and take the time to read the textbook. make sure you are in a good group for the business plan
Do all of the HW make sure to study for the test and use the book! He cares about questions and sure to take the final project seriously. If you go to every class, study, and read the book yo should be good.
Good teacher, passionate about what he does. I got a B in the class and didn't really try. Test questions come straight from the online textbook quizzes.
He is very engaging and knows his stuff. He gives homework due before every class but it is easy and straight from the book. There is a big group project at the end so make sure to get with a good set of people. The test are easy and straight from the slide. I recommend the book for homework and a quick read before tests.
Go to class and do the homework that he assigns for a grade and the tests will be easy. Business Plan project at the end was easy as well as long as you don't wait until the last minute. makes a basic class interesting
homework every day
Easy A. Study quizlets, hundreds have already been made so don't bother making your own. I have never used the book and I'm making an A in the class, don't buy it, you can literally just study quilts and make A's on the tests. Homework every day, but super easy participation points.
Mr. Jarrell is a nice man who cares about students if you respect him. Lectures everyday that are sometimes dull but he tells a lot of stories about his own life that make topics interesting. Study back of textbook for tests, business plan at end of quarter get a good group and you will be fine
I took the class Online/Summer 6wk session. A LOT of reading. But take notes, study and it'll be good. You also have access to all his lectures online, so that'll help. Oh, and you have the option of doing the Group Project ALONE which was GREAT for me!
Mr jarrell is a great man. Respectable and caring. Tests are hard you really have to study the key terms and make sure you know them! The tests are scenario based not definitions. Pick partners wisely when doing quarter project! All around good class.
He taught directly from the slides and would get off topic most days. If you get the textbook, there's this study guide thing that gives you mock test questions. There is also a big group project at the end of the quarter. Be sure to choose good partners because it is a lot of work if you want a good grade.
Class is not to hard but is mandatory attendance after the first three absences. Very lecture heavy as well as reading the textbook because the Power points do not cover everything . Test are application of terms and there is lots of homework
Professor Jarrell is great for freshman taking Business 110. You will have homework every week, but it's all in the textbook and not hard to finish at all. He expects to be respected and listened to during his lectures, and be ready to answer questions during class! The tests are usually long and cover a lot of information from the book, so READ.
Jarrell is the absolute best. He's such a charismatic guy! Homework is due every class but it take 30 minutes tops. READ THE CHAPTERS AND MEMORIZE THE VOCAB BEFORE EACH TEST!!! The group project is really fun to do as well!
Jarrell is a really nice guy, but makes his conservative political views very clear. He can be offensive sometimes, but I dont think he means to be. Be prepared to hear him brag about his Rolex and Escalade. Tests arent that bad, just read the book. Try to take with friends for the big group project.
. Super easy class as long as you legitimately pay attention to the lectures and actually do the homework. Like the person below me said, he will talk about his outdated political views, but he's kind and means well. He also made class a little less boring by telling stories and attempting to make jokes. Class will sometimes be let out early, too.
Mr. Jarrell was a good professor with a clear grading criteria, however, his lectures were very heavy and there was a lot of reading involved. He would also talk about the clothing store he used to own for 10-20 minutes at a time. Very nice man, but he also was not very accessible outside of class.
First of all, he starts class by talking about politics. Especially the politics that no one agrees with. Next, he talks on and on about nothing important. If you have a question, he'll answer it vaguely. When he found out some of us cheated on the test, he said we would all "burn in hell" for our consequences. Way too overdramatic if you ask me.
One of the worst teachers i have ever had. I cheated on a test and he failed me. He needs a reality check. All he does is talk about politics and his own business. You will fail if you dont like the subject.
I took his class during covid. We did zoom He wasn't the best teacher but he wasn't the worst. We had so many technical difficulties and taking tests on proctorio was terrible because tests crashed. The book has a PDF online. Read it and practice the quizlets. He did give us extra credit and dropped our lowest test grade at the end of the quarter.
I LOVED Jarrell. He was such a nice guy. I see plenty of comments saying he talked about his own business during his lectures but he literally posted VIDEO lectures that were not the actual class zoom. He answered my emails within 30 minutes (once I emailed him at 10:30pm). Pick your group for business plan wisely! Read your textbook! hard tests!
Jerrell was very hard for the simple reason it was online. Had this been in person it would have been much easier but due to the fact that he was older and had no clue how to work the technology this class was very hard. Test are extremely hard being they are proctored and I once received a letter grade bump down on a test because i wore a hat.
Rambled on about stuff in his personal life, would complain about his people not having the web cam on or wearing headphones for the first 15 minutes of every class, and doesnt understand technology at all.
His class lectures dont help at all, all he does is ramble on about his business. I only attended one zoom session and for the rest of the quarter, I just listened to his recorded lectures and took notes off the powerpoints. Make sure to study the notes and the vocab, and pick a good group for the business plan worth 100. 3 tests worth 100 points.
His lectures didn't help much. He mostly rambled on. His tests are different every time, so it is hard to study. I have spent sleepless nights a week studying for a test and failed because what I studied was not on the test. Study for scenarios rather than studying definitions. His tests are most likely scenarios and minimum definitions.
Most pointless lectures Ive ever sat through. What a joke for a professor. His tests are ridiculous and theres no way to study for them. Ive study hours just to pass with a C. Think of Joe Biden reincarnated. He is a good person and will drop ur lowest grade but horrible professor. Takes forever to post grades.
Professor Jarrell wasn't terrible but also wasn't that great. Be prepared to have homework due every day before class, stay for the whole class period, and possibly get yelled at in front of everyone if you leave class early. His tests were nothing like the PowerPoints that he taught every day. I studied my butt off for every test to get a 72.
Rambles on about nothing the whole class. If he didnt require attendance there would be no point to showing up because you have to teach yourself out of the textbook. Highly recommend reading the chapters as theyre the only way you will pass the test. Read the chapter reviews at the end of the chapters too. Homework due before every class.
He rambles a lot in class and talks about topics that are controversial that does not relate to business. When it is time for your business plan pick good group members
The only confusing part about this class was what we actually had to study for the tests. Sometimes he would say study the textbook, or the notes, or the study guide. It always was different. He also drops the lowest test score, but you never see any of that happen until just your final grade is posted.
I enjoyed his class lectures! He was good with students and did not waste time.
Worst teacher I've had. He talked about controversial topics during class which 1 has nothing to do with business and 2 was inappropriate and hateful. I cannot imagine how members of the community he was bashing must have felt. Also, his test were inconsistent. I will do everything I can to avoid him in the future and I advise you to do the same.
he is just very all over the place with everything and his test are very hard considering the course material i would take someone else for business if you can
