Real funny.
great and understanding
Great guy - fun class. Not too easy but very fair.
The class is okay if you keep up with the reading. Quizzes about once a week and the questions are confusing. He is funny and always at least 5 min late to class. Easy or hard depending on your reading and ability to stay awake in long lectures.
He is my favorite proffessor. He cusses like a sailor but it's funny...he's deffinatly a wise ass but it makes his long lectures more interesting. he gives a 10 question quiz a week which are easy is you read. he also dropthe lowest quizzes at the end of semester. Deff take him..hes cool
Kinda hard. You have to read the book because all the quiz questions come from the book. The questions on the quizzes are very confusing.
Hard but interesting class. He is very nice guy. Read the book, all of his quizes and tests come straight from the book.
Hard class, professor loves the material but isnt always clear.. 10 question quiz every week on a chapter.. "study guides" given dont really help.. all quizzed right from the book.. lot of reading.. only take if you plan to study hard!
Pretty challenging class, must read alot, quiz every week on each chapter! Funny guy though, so not too bad!
If you can't pass his class you're either a lazy slacker or an idiot. His tests are right out of the book and his study guide. He'll give you all the office time you ask for. Larry Kent is outstanding.
He is the funniest/ most interesting professor that I have come across so far. Definately an easy class as long as you do the reading and show up for the lectures.. theres no way you cant do well!
History is alot of reading no matter how you put it. Kent is a lively professor, his tests are relatively easy. Study what he tells you to and you should be fine. Wanna get him off track? Ask about the kids.
Professor Kent is awesome. He can make a boring subject like history actually be interesting. If you do the word list that he gives you and study your notes this class is an easy A.
He's a very good professor. He knows what he's talking about and rarely uses the book. Very intellectual and smart.

Great teacher, knows how to make everyone laugh. Take notes here and there and you will be fine on tests. Listen to him read attendance, its funny.
Good teacher....He makes you laugh and makes the class not boring, I have never been able to sit through a history class, I HATE it but he has actually made me like it..
His class is like a story. He makes it very interesting and easy to remember by making it colorful and fluent.
Great teacher, one of the best History teachers I ever had, if not the best. Class was very interesting and the Kent made sure of that.
I love kent!! hes a great teacher!
Professor Kent is very helpful. He is willing to help students. If you fail his class, its your own fault.
Very helpful and very cool professor!!!!
Phenominal professor. I don't even think he ever has to go over notes...it's almost as if he remembers every minute detail. Very enthousiastic about his job. I loved every minute. Just go to class and pay attention, it's not that hard to listen to him. Tests can be tricky, but they are straight from lecture.

Take a summer class with him.
Great professor! Time goes by quickly and I am left wanting more. Very funny and the tests are not that bad if you just read the book. Highly reccomend!!
you'd almost think you didn't need the book just listening to his lectures... BUT, his quizzes WILL throw something in there that you better have read... SO BEWARE. read the chapter (no matter how boring). but he's a really nice guy :)
Professor Kent is an awesome professor. Yes, some of the questions come from the book, but how is that different from any other professor? He's helpful and goes out of his way to help people. So if you can't read a book, don't be in college.
Prof. Kent is a great teacher! I can not stand history and was not excited about the class at all, but he makes it somewhat interesting and easier to comprehend. Be sure to read the book! He goes over stuff in the class and hands out study guides/word lists. Read the book and fill out the word lists to study.
He's a nice guy with a passion for history. DO the vocabulary sheets and study hard. Take notes also. He is however, a good professor who understands what it feels like to struggle with grades and he said so himself.. if he sees that you are improving, he will give you a better letter grade. Take Him!
He knows his stuff and really wants his students to understand it...His tet/quizes arent the easiest- but if you do the vocab sheets and read the chapters in the book you will do fine. Only gives 2 test a semester, 10 quizes (throws out your three lowest quizes). Takes roll everyday. Overall nice guy...kind of hard class.
This dude is awesome. looks just like the guy off myth busters with the mustache! He makes history enjoyable and is very funny. Ive taken him for two history classes and got As.if you take history take him!
teacher is amazing. his clarity is beyond perfect and the lectures are interesting. he knows what hes doing. take this teacher for history.
I was really not looking forward to this class, but Dr. Kent was the perfect prof. to take! You only have a mid-term and final, and 10 quizzes. The vocab sheets and reading are crucial to a decent grade, but he wants you to succeed. He's pretty funny too. For someone who hated history, I got an A in his class! Would def. take him again!
He teaches history as a story. His class is all lecture but he give interesting details. As long as you go to every class and write down detailed notes you will do fine. I just read the notes I wrote and did fine on the tests.
I'll have to say that Kent's class was one of my favorites! He made history so interesting! His tests were easy and you didnt really have to use the book except for the final which requires you to look up the answers but its just like the study guide! I highly recommend Kent for history, he is an amazing teacher!!!! Take him!
Very cool guy. He drops your lowest test grade and his tests aren't that bad, as long as you study your notes and look over stuff in the book you will do fine.
Probably my favourite professor at Coastal! His lectures are very descriptive and he is very funny. He tells a lot of stories to really get you into the subject. He gives five tests and drops the lowest grade, and his tests are pretty easy-I finish mine in about twenty minutes. They's about 40 mc with a bonus question. Take his class!
I took this class in the summer and it was very easy. He was very knowledgable of the subject and eager about teaching. This was a great class.
Larry Kent is a great guy. Go to class. Pay attention. Study your notes and you will get an A. He is not there to screw you over, only help you. he drops the lowest test grade. take him
Professor Kent is an awesome teacher, probably the best I have had during my college career. He gets so involved in lecture, he makes class very interesting. He is there to help his students and wants them to do good! I highly recommend taking his class, he's great!
AWESOME teacher! He is hilarioussss. Tests are a little difficult but other than that he is great. He gets into his lectures. He lets you miss 11 days! My favorite class.
overall okay teacher. he talks alot. doesnt write the notes in the board or power point. you kind of just have to listen to what he says. he throws alot of information at you at one time. the tests are pretty easy as long as you read the text. he lets you miss 11 classes!
He is SO funny!!!!! However the class was really really hard. You never know what to study for the tests and anything he says in class (whether it's in the book or even relevant) is fair game for the tests.
I had him for western civ. I cldnt remember the section number. He is a great teacher but have fun burning holes through your paper if you try to take notes. His tests are rather easy just study his word list and your class notes and you'll be golden :)
One of my favorite professors at CCU. Teaches the course material as if he is literally telling a story. Very entertaining. Also took him for HIST 201.
Gave out word lists with no order to them which made it very difficult to read through the chapter and know what you are looking for. Tests had nothing to do with what he talked about in class, and where highly confusing when relating the questions on the test with the material from the book. Although, he was very enthusiastic in his teaching.
Took him for a summer class. I don't attend CCU but found the class fairly easy if you paid attention in class. He did give a couple questions on each test that were tricky and from the book, but very fair with typically easy Bonus'. Very nice and HIGHLY recommended. Made me want to Transfer!
I had Mr. Kent my freshman year for my history requirement. He is hilarious! But if you are easily offended, I would suggest taking someone else. As far as his class goes, you have to write quickly to get all the material- and always do the vocab list! If you don't, this class is pretty much impossible to get an A in. 4 tests is all he does.
Professor Kent does an okay job at teaching in his lectures but he doesn't use the book at all. He never knows which chapter we're on and if you need help, no use. I've Emailed him 3 times this semester and he hasn't emailed me back once. Your only grade is based off tests and there's 5 total. none of the info he teaches you is on the tests…
I was dreading this class, but Kent made it tolerable, if not fun. His tests aren't too bad, and he was really helpful as long as you took the initiative to seek him out during office hours (lots of extra credit!). Don't take him if you can't take good notes, though; his lectures are interesting, but he never uses Powerpoint.
Do not buy the book. All you need to pass this class is to take notes in class. That is it. All the questions from his tests ( 4 in total 50 questions a piece) come from his lectures. There are no powerpoints, maps or handouts. Its an old fashioned class that is super easy. He is a great teacher that is really funny.
He is a very easy going guy. I would take his class again.
He really gives lectures like he's story. Sometimes it's hard to determine what is worth writing down in your notes, but overall it's pretty easy to get a good grade if you really pay attention. The only thing you might have some difficulty with are the current events quizzes, so just check the news headlines EVERYDAY for good grades on them.
Really cool guy, some of notes are hard but very easy to cheat on tests and text. If you are a slacker and looking for the easiest C this class is for you, very easy to put in minimal effort though and get an A
He talked so fast and about all kind of different stuff so as you are taken notes you really have no clue what to write down, btw he gives NO NOTES! so basically you are the judge of what to write as he talks and when reading the book it doesn't seem to match well so struggling with test will happen a lot. GoodLuck!
super cool guy, his lectures are long but he tells it like a story and uses present day examples to help you remember and relate it to things, make sure you take notes because he doesnt give you any notes or papers, you learn from lectures and reading the book, if you study though you'll do fine his tests are easy, dosnt care if u skip but i woudln
Hardest class I've taken so far. Your grade is the average of 5 tests (one drops) and they are very difficult unless you read the entire chapter 10 times. Really cool guy, funny as hell. Difficult class though. Almost everything on the test you have to learn yourself from the book. Really enjoyed him as a teacher though, really good guy.
Make his lectures very interesting and easy to understand, but expects you to read the textbook too. Tests are hard because they are a mix of info from the book and from his lectures. Very nice professor who allows you to miss like 10 classes.
He gave us 12 Worksheets and they all the answers came offline on Quizlet.
Cool dude and the class is simple. You take 5 tests and he drops the lowest. I had the book but it didn't seem to help. He had random trivial questions that everyone always missed. You NEED to take good notes for his class. Not hard, just focuses on minor details. If you're a good test taker you'll have an a!
Makes history very entertaining, like he is telling a story. He tends to do current events or constitution bonus questions so brush up on that stuff if you can.
Professor Kent is a funny guy, but this is easily the hardest class I have ever taken. His lectures are very long and he doesn't use the textbook or a PowerPoint. You have to write all of your own notes and there are no study guides. I have yet to figure out where he gets the questions to his tests because they seem as if someone else made them
He doesn't use powerpoints so you have to listen carefully to take notes. You should probably invest in a recorder. Easy tests. Know the people that he talks about.
I dont recomended it but i was able to talk only the night before and the morning of. most people study crazy hard. but its an east class
He teaches just by talking like telling a story. Have to take notes solely based on what he says. No powerpoints. He's funny & well educated. He gives extra credit questions on every exam (5 exams, drops lowest). He also gives extra credit quizzes that he gives study guides for. Hard at first, had to get used to his style of teaching. Do recommend!
Professor Kent is a nice guy, but I wouldn't have taken this class if I knew how it was going to turn out. He brings up a picture of a map relevant to the lecture topic that day, and he just talks the whole class. You have to take notes on what you think is important. EXTREMELY test heavy for your final grade. Would not recommend.
Great professor. He teaches and describes events in a clear and easy way to remember. He also tells funny stories in class!
Only grades are the four tests + final. Lectures by standing up in the front of the class and talking, no notes or ppt. Didn't even get through half of the course material because he went into so much detail; each test was over one chapter.
Really great guy - pay attention in class because he only lectures. Although I did not do great in his class, I would love to have him as a professor again.
The best history teacher I've ever had. He really cared about students grades and gave good oppertunities for some extra credit.
Great professor. Lectures so you have to pay attention in class and take notes of what he says. Don't miss class. He is very knowledgeable in what he does and occasionally makes jokes and it brightens my day. Only grades are exams and the occasional extra credit.
ONLY lectures, no powerpoints. Go to class. Intriguing. 4 exams including final, all multiple choice. Gives extra credit. Don't need the textbook if you pay attention in class.
Larry is such a cool guy, I loved his class. You need to take really good notes, but if you go to class, pay attention, and study your notes you'll get an A in the class. His lectures are really fun and you can tell he loves history and knows a ton. If I had to take another history class I would 100% take it from him.
Took him twice! Super funny guy and willing to help you with anything. ONLY lectures so you have to go to class and take notes (no powerpoint or handouts). Tests are easy and reflect what is taught with some questions coming from the textbook but if you listen in class, you don't need the book. Offers extra credit every test, makes history fun.
He doesnt put the notes in a PowerPoint and lectures usually the whole class so you really have to pay attention. But hes really laid back and gave a lot of extra credit. Id suggest finding someone you can rely on to take good notes if you plan on missing days and read the textbook ahead of his lectures. No other assignments other than tests.
this dude is great take him he makes history come alive and as long as you take notes you'll do fine on the exams hes a super cool dude and if it's online theyre open note exams it's an easy A
I took a summer online course and it was distant learning course so I didn't really interact with him but, his questions where pretty straight forward and didn't give any test.
Kents class revolves around 4 tests if I remember correctly. he would knock off the lowest one but he would only lecture the whole class. write down names that were necessary to the topic and not really give much other wise. this was a struggle for me. if you personally do not do well with lectures dont take this class.
He doesn't use any type of powerpoints for his lectures. He will mainly put up a map, and then give a lecture for the whole class. You won't pass the tests without reading the textbook. There's only 5 grades in this class and they're all tests. He does drop the lowest grade. He gives out either extra credit or a bonus question on the test.
Professor Kent is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I absolutely hate history and have never done well in history classes, but he makes the lectures SO interesting and tells it like a story. Gives a lot of extra credit. As long as you pay attention in class and take some notes you will most likely get an A. I would definitely recommend.
Kind of comes off strong with his humor, sometimes appearing a bit rude or brash. Often let class out early and was very down-to-earth and honest. The only real bad thing was that he didn't put any grades in for the entire semester so I have no idea what my grade ever was or is. He is also part of why I switched majors away from History
Professor Kent is a great person, a bit odd but very understanding. The class is graded on 5 tests and 5 only. At the end of the semester your lowest test is dropped and the rest are averaged. His tests may seem easy but be aware, sometimes he doesn't mention anything on the tests. There is always a bonus question on each test worth 5 points.
There are only 5 exams in this class, your lowest grade is dropped. If you are not a good test taker I do not recommend this class. There are no homework assignments or quizzes to give you leeway. He does not post note so you have to pay attention in class if you would like to pass. He is kind so go to his office hours if you are struggling.
Professor Kent is such an amazing professor. You can tell that he's very passionate about what he teaches, and he cares about his students. There's only 5 tests and nothing else, he also lectures with only his voice, no powerpoint, so be sure to listen and go to class or you're going to miss out! He also gives extra credit frequently.
Amazing professor. Doesn't use notes/slideshow, just talks the whole class, so be prepared to take notes. If you skip often, you won't pass. Makes the content really fun to learn. Only three tests, and seven homework assignments, all of which are easy. Extra credit question on each test. 100% would take this professor again!
