great person and the best teacher i've had in pierce

Larry Andre is one of the most incredible men/professor's that I have ever known. He is one of those teachers that you just want to take more and more classes with. Do yourself a favor, and enroll with him whenever you get the chance.

Larry Andre is an awesome guy. He will actually make you think about philosophy and the world you live in. He was rarely boring. Only letdown is that grade is based on your midterm and final. Lets you take midterm with a partner. No hw or book needed.

I LOVE LARRY. This is the coolest teacher you could have. He is so laid back we went on alot of field trips. he made me think so much about love and life. He got me to question things and look at things in a whole new way. He is the best take him you will be happy you did trust me

One of the best professors i've had at Pierce. The class was relatively easy, and completely stress-free. He adapts his teaching style to each class. No book required. He's always willing to explain things again if something wasn't clear. But, you might not like his class if you're not willing to question your beliefs at all.

He is entertaining. He will help you out and there is no way you will get less than an A. He makes you question your beliefs but, its fun to argue with him and the class. Great Philosophy teacher!!!

He goes over everything so you understand and know what is on the tests. He let us partner up for one test. He makes you really think philosopically and understand all the philosopher really well.

he's a great person, very nice!! there are five 1500word papers to do and some are difficult. he's always there to help you though. the final is a 1500 word paper about a novel&system of literature, which he revises and then you rewrite it and turn it in the day of the final..no test..YES!!!

This is one of the best teachers I've ever known! All he wanted out of our class times was for us to be as opinionated as possible. He lit a fire under us to argue; it was so much fun! He even brought in coffee for us, serving us around the room in a big circle while we contiued debating! No tests, 2 papers. My most interesting class ever!

Loved him. You looked forward to going to class. Gets you thinking. I wish I could have him for more classes. You end up comparing all other teachers to him. And no one seems to be able to measure up to him. He is also hot as hell. Highy recommend.

He's fairly heavy-handed on his own beliefs. He doesn't really argue fairly either. He'll cut you off just so he can isolate the part of what you're saying to suit his point just like a lawyer. But as a teacher, he's awesome. Very laid-back, very helpful, and just all around easy.

Dr. Andre is very knowledgable and although the subject matter is somewhat difficult he always does his best to make sure everyone understands it. Class consists of 4 papers that build upon one another. After the first couple, you know what he wants and the class becomes a lot easier. If you get an A on the final essay, you get an A in the class.

Although this class is non-existent, his teaching style is what I'm critiquing. He makes you come to YOUR OWN conclusion, and is the most unbiased a teacher can get. He is more concerned in what you learn, then what grade you get. You will learn, and have fun in all of his classes. He is also charming and quite the hotty!

Professor Andre is a great teacher! He makes the class intersting by having the whole class participate in discussions. We did not use a textbook for the class, but he gav us handouts and went over them in class. We had to write four essays that all connected to each other in the end. It was a great class!

Honestly, he's one of the best professors I've ever had! It was hard for me to find a good humanities class, so I'm glad that I ended up in his! His class isn't pointless like many other classes. He really makes you think about who you are. A few essays and writing assignments. Field trips. No tests. Take it if you can!

Not very straightforward at first, but that's cause its a philosophy class and these can be very vague. Not very much written work. One thing to remember, don't contradict yourself, it will only lead to your demise.

He is one of the most amazing people that you will ever meet. If you have an inkling to take philosophy take it with him. He not only makes the class interesting but he brings you into the element. If you actually get envelloped into his phil 2 class you realize that the class, and what he is saying are helping you understand yourself better.

I was deathly afraid of this class. But he helped us out a lot. The first day of class, he was hard to follow & i thought this class was one of those that the teacher lectures all over the place. But in the end, it was weird because everything tied together. Instead of learning about dead philosophers, I learned about myself! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

He is the nices teacher. This class was really hard for me to follow, its philosophy after all, but he was so caring. he knew i was having trouble, talked to me after class about it often and was very helpful. I should not have passes this class, but he knew how hard the concepts were for me so he let me go with a C. I definitely recommend him.

Take him before he really retires.

Had him 9 years ago! Take his class if you can, & watch Aristotelian logic used like you've never seen before. He'll challenge & provoke you, like an effective teacher is supposed to do. Watch how you argue your point, unless you have a solid footing, you could get knocked down - but don't take it personally, it's part of learning. What a ride!!

He's retiring after Fall 2008 but I took philosophy and I learned so much from Professor Andre! He's definitely a very good teacher for philosophy. I learned so much about myself in this class.He made the lectures in a way to better prepare themselves for the midterm/final.

at first he scared me. I am a believer and heis not. however, as theclass proceded heshowed me much respect and explained how I could live my faith. He is not concerned about what you think as much as how you think. you missed the greatest.

Andre taught an incredibly engaging class against the established institution of academia! I am so happy I had the opportunity to experience his class. I returned to Pierce to visit Dr. Andre to discover that he retired. I wanted to tell him that his class prepared me for UCLA under and grad school. He taught me to want to learn and think. Prior to his class, I just collected crdits. Thanks, Larry!

One of the best teachers I've had. He is incredibly brilliant. Definitely go in with an open mind. The basis for the class is to learn to think for yourself. He's not like ordinary teachers that give tests, he wants you to experience life. For my final I could go to a restaurant out of my comfort zone and write on my experience.

Mr. Andre is an awesome professor!! He gets you to think for yourself and to question your thoughts and beliefs. His class in very interesting and I learned a lot about myself in his class. He uses online reading instead of a textbook and he brings in speakers. If you attend class and do your homework you will do great.

Dr. Andre has been my favorite teacher in all my years that I have been in school. He is funny, class discussions are fun, and he explains the material with examples we can relate to that makes it so easy to understand. I never dreaded going to class and I wish all professors were just like him.

This was the first class I took after being out of school for ten years and I'm so glad I took it. I took him for Humanities 31 and it was a PACE class. He is an awesome teacher, really funny and laid back but passionate about what he's teaching. He even made coming to class on Saturday mornings fun. I definitely recommend taking him.

Psych 1 is interesting and boring all at the same time. Prof. Andre is understanding. He gave extra credit. I'm more interested in taking one of his philosophy classes than another psych class. Really enjoyed his personality. He gave plenty of opportunity for those that did not understand something to ask questions. He had no prob repeating himself

Took Psych 1 and Humanities 31 with Prof. Andre. He is my favorite professor that I have had. He has great lectures, and responds very quickly via email. I enjoyed the conversations after class and via email with him, he is a really nice guy. He believes in a progressive education model that does not require textbooks. Great professor, recommended.

Professor Andre is wonderful. I took him for Phil 20 which is Ethics. It was an accelerated course so there was a lot to cover but it was fun and it'll get you thinking. He does not require a text book which is fab. Do you journals, email him your work and participate and you'll thrive.

He was a nice and kind professor. He may be offensive to some people, especially religous people. He can really test your faith, because he does make you question your beliefs and why you believe so and goes deep into it, which is part of the subject. I didn't buy a textbook. I did the PACE class and we only had two tests, but many projects.

I had Prof for two subjects and just loved his classes. He gives the student every opportunity to do well. He has a clear grading system so you are well aware of what you will get. If you want a better grade he will come in on his off days and help you- just show up! The work is not easy, you have to work hard for it.

It does not get any better than professor Andre "Larry". All you have to do is try and you will pass with flying colors. Midterm is a take home which he helps you find the answers and understand the material. The final is a breez. His lectures are like free therapy. He brings in all the material you will need. His psychology 1 is really interesting and loaded with material. It was a PACE class and I wish it was a full semester. The way he lectures made me feel like he was talking to me and when I asked questions, he knew my name and explained the answer to my question. Professor Andre taught two PACE classes. His philosophy class caused me to think and question life. His psychology class is a critical thinking class which made me aware I need to work on my critical thinking. I wish I had his class when I was younger. I am taking my second class in pace and am writing this because I am now aware when others say that professor Andre is different. He told us that there are different kinds of learners and places videos, powerpoint, readings so that different learners can learn. His lectures are always interesting and students like attending his class.

I had Andre two semester ago and have learned that his class helped me become a student. His course is a foundation for all other classes. I wish I had his class during my first semester. I didn't realize how much I read and wrote in his class because of the way it is. I can recommend him.

Lectures were very long, but optional. He is very available and responsive to communicate via email or even meet in a zoom call to discuss material. His critical thinking class had no quizzes, no test, no final - the ENTIRE class was writing essays which he helps you with along the way. He is very particular about his assignments, but he will help.

Professor Andre was available via email and zoom meetings to help me find information to support weekly papers and postings, to express and justify my ideas, and to have fewer writing barriers. His PowerPoint slides, videos, and readings are specific to lecture and assignments and helped me to succeed and develop new awarenesss.

Dr. Andre is a licensed psychologist and looks at psychology as a professor and a psychologist. He is able to explain the subject using examples that are real and relevant. I have taken him for three classes and all are great!

Professor Andre is very clear on what is required and the reason to study psychology to improve your life. There were times when I was watching videos and reading the slides and articles that I thought of myself. I wish it had been in a classroom is the only thing. I think I would have gotten more if there were in person discussions.

Being a returning student is stressful. During my first eight weeks of PACE I was in Dr. Andre's psychology 66 critical thinking and writing course. I anticipated having a difficult time in the class however, he was available to help me organize and express my thoughts using proper English. I just finished English 101 and received an A grade.

Larry does progressive grading and expects each assignment to be better than the one before. He has weekly rubrics to follow and he grades your assignment on that rubric. He gives feedback on your assignments and lets you know where you need to improve and give an opportunity to rewrite with improvements. He is very available and helpful.

Professor Andre is very available and has a way of explaining that is easy to understand and implement. I am now in Eng 101 with an A average and using what he taught me in Psychology 66. Very helpful. Larry

Larry's phil 5 class is heavy on writing but with great feedback. He gave me more written feedback than I have ever received which addressed areas of my writing that needed to be addressed. I learned a lot.

Professor is available, gives feedback on assignments, and allows rewrites. His lectures are long and filled with a lot of information. He meets on Saturdays to have homework study group.

Larry taught me how to develop a systematically approached paper that integrates logic and critical thinking (I didn't know there was a difference). He taught me to identify the main premises of my argument, ensuring my premises are the result of credible sources and logical reasoning.

Quite literally like a grandfather, would 100% take again and recommend. Easy grader and if you don't get a grade you want, he's willing to set up a zoom meeting with you to discuss.

Andre is available and will help with assignments. He has readings but his slides and discussion are what makes the difference. I recommend him as a critical thinking teacher.

If you struggle with writing anxiety or feel unsure about your writing skills, I highly recommend taking his Psychology 66 class.
