Best math teacher ever. I've failed every math class ever except his. I got an A
No Comments
Just go to class everyday and take good notes. You will be able to use your notes for the next math course. He makes the class fun!

The best teacher in the world!!!! He is so helpfull and FUN!!!! I have also failed every other math class, and I do mean every. I got an A in 351, and have an A so far in 251. TAKE HIM! He Really cares and you can tell he loves his job!!!!
Larry Perez wants to see you succeed. The only reason a person could get a bad grade in this class is if they are not focused. Some teachers make thier class unnessarly hard but Perez doesn't and instead helps you understand and learn the concepts.
He is funny. His teaching is second to none. I loved his class, and if YOU hate Math, then take him because he'll make you like it. You'll get a good grade in his class.
Tough class, but you will get it when you are finished.
I wish he would teach math253
I wish he taught every math class. He is a great instructor and educator.Loved his classes. The classes are also fun. Mr.Perez you're missed in math 253 and math 8. Wish you were here.
He's pretty fun and an all around great guy
The material in Calculus 2 is very difficult no matter who you have, but he does an excellent job explaining everything you need to know. He is also very funny.
Great teacher. Seems to enjoy teaching. His test are hard(no scantron like some) but he teaches what you need to know. I did not enjoy Math before having him and now I enjoy it.
This is my favorite math teacher I have ever had. Explains very well and in depth and is very helpful. Gives partical credit on tests for working out the problems!
VERY smart guy who really knows how to teach. He was a nulcear submarine engineer in the navy or something and he kicks ass as teacher. Funny, and he loves to teach.
He really gets what we don't and teaches to those who struggle with math. He gets excited when the struggling student excels. He is the best math teacher I have ever had. If you didn't get it before, you will with Mr. Perez
Probably the best CC teacher in Cali.
Professor Perez is a good professor, but the material for Calculus II is very difficult no matter what professor you have. He is very clear on explaining the concepts. He is very funny, but he sometimes puts students on the spot for answering questions.
his class is not boaring, i enjoy to be in his class
He is funy, nice person, gives partical credits, again he is so funny,I like him
I took Mr. Perez for 351 and am taking him now for 251. He is the best math teacher I've ever had. I recommend him for the mathematiclly challenged. Register early before his classes fills up.
He is one of the best math teacher in campus. He is very funny and his lecture are helpful. Easy teacher.
He's so friendly. "Mucho Math".
Fun teacher, teaches very well!! I recommed you take him!!
He is a good professor, he gives you a practice exam that is almost identical to the test. Do your homework so you understand the concepts or you'll be sorry when your trying to learn them the night before the exam.
So helpful and makes stupid jokes and it's so silly that it makes you laugh. He might pick on people but he's always just kidding. No need to do hw, just know the practice test cuz it's the same as the test. If your smart enough, no book for book either.
His dumb chucky cheese jokes lighten up the class and his teaching manner creates an enjoyable environment. DO the practice exams 3,4 times and your set. It is very easy to ace!
kool instructor, funny, a+++++++++++++++
he's the simplest science teacher at saddle. Don't even think of taking anyone else
Really nice teacher, tests are very hard but gives points for trying
Very good teacher, first teacher ever who made math seem fun. Thanks Mr. Perez, see ya at Chucky Cheese.
he is one of my favorite teachers at saddleback- best personality. he made class fun- even tho it was math!! you definately have to take him :) dont get behind in class and take notes tho!
he's the best.
Use the force, love Chuck E. Cheese, and remember that you are in the big-time, and you'll do well. But seriously, Perez is the best math teacher no matter what level you are at--from 251-3B!
The parctice test's help, but he picks the hardest most impossible extremes for the real test.
KUNG FU MATH, followed by CHUCKEEE CHHHHHHHHHHHESE... this guy is great, and has a funny sense of humor... understand the practice tests and you will do fine... or else you can redo the tests, NEXT semester! (HAHHAH)
this guy gives you practice exams and homework... then gives you an EXAM WITH COMPLETELY DIFFERENT QUESTIONS... he's funny, but if i wanted to laugh i'd goto the friggin improv not school :(
If you hate math this guy can help you- he has a way of explaining things and making concepts less complex. it may not be easy for all- buy you can pass if you show up and do the homework and practice exams.
WONDERFUL!!! he doesn't know his stuff BUT he can teach which means he'll teach you whatever he knows. The class is an easy A as long as you do the practice exams
This guy is hilarious! Maybe I'll give him a better ranking next semester.
STUDY FOR THE FINAL!!!!!!!!
Great teacher, halarious!!! Helps you to understand what you are really doing! Be ready though- NO calculators!! It's ok cause he's the best!! Definitly recommended!!
Great professor--teaches the subject very well. Also, very funny and entertaining; a big sweetheart overall. He is very fair with grading, and you WILL get what you deserve. So study, that way you wont see him again.. next semester!
I took it credit no credit. and he passed me. I suck at math, so he must be good.
Pretty easy to get a good grade. Beware though, he's funny, because he picks on certain students the entire semester, or when you answer a question wrong in class. Funny to most, but not the ones that don't understand and get teased and laughed at by the teacher because of it!
i've never got an A in math my entire life and i did in his class.honestly the easiest math class EVER. if you memorize the practice tests you're set, theyre almost identical to real ones.do the hw, skip problems and he wont notice and doesnt care. he's funny and easy going. take him EASY A

I am having a great time in the class. You just have to keep up with the material and go to class everyday. He makes the math fun. Beware! If you don't go to class and miss lectures he is going to pick on you the next time you show up!
Very easy to understand if you go to class. If you miss class your dead. If you do not like to take notes the he will call on you to answer questions and if you dont know the answer, he will embarass you. If you want to learn math, take this guy. But you like to do the minimum, dont take him
Perez makes stats easy and fun. Don't miss class, you will never catch up.
Pretty easy class if you go to class everyday. He gives you handouts so that you know what to expect on the exam. Very fair with grading. Beware, if you go to his office to ask questions and you don't have your exam corrections or handouts he wont help you, especially if you have been missing class.
Very fair and explains things so you can understand. He will give you the grade you deserve. Does not play favorites. He will not help you if you miss class.
HE IS VERY BIASED. VERY UNHELPFUL EVEN WHEN YOU GO TO HIS OFFICE.TRY TO BE FUNNY BUT IN FACT HE IS VERY RUDE.HE EXPECT YOU TO KNOW EVERYTHING.HE TOLD US FIAN IS MANDATORY BUT I DID THE FINAL HE LET OTHER STUDENT NOT TAKE THE FINAL WHILE I HAD TO. HE GAVE ME A D. NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE WEAK IN MATH.
Easy Class, not the clearest guy on Earth, but he is funny, and you will understand what he is teaching if you listin. He'll pick on a few students all semester and say he'll see them "next semester!!". Just pay attention and you'll get a "A" or a "B" in the class.
It was a tough class but you will learn a great deal if you keep up with the course. Do not take this course if your looking for an easy A. If you get a bad grade you probably deserve it.
I took this class with him twice!I failed the first time for missing classes, which put me behind causing me to fail.I took him again because even though I failed I learned a lot from him.He gives you practice exams, which are almost the same material covered on the exams.Do not get behind on the HW or you will be screwed in the class!Never boring.
This teacher does not care about the homework or the quizzes, he will always give you credit. Also all the tests are based in the review sheet he gaves.
He doesn't really know how to teach statistics. Often gets lost in his own work and make mistakes. Doesn't have review sheets like he does for other classes but just pay attention to the examples on the board because that's what he usually uses on the tests.
He is a great teacher ,...try it,....
I struggle in math but always manage a B. He tries to be funny, but he does that by making fun of students, especially when they make a mistake. I never asked him questions but messed up on two different occasions while trying to solve a problem on the board, and he loves it when students do that, because he can make fun of them.
He is a great teacher and makes math fun for all. i highly recommend him.
Makes it bearable, nice guy.
He is such a great math teacher,...I had a good time with my friends in his class,....
HE sucked!!! HE IS RUDE AND MAKES YOU FEEL STUPID FOR ASKING QUESTIONS AND RANDOMLY CALLS ON YOU.

I am an older student coming back to school after many years. I enjoyed Mr. Perez's course very much. He made the class enjoyable and fun. I especially enjoyed his classroom management techniques with with the young students who appear to have no interest in taking the course. His class is easy if you just pay attention and put in the effort.
Mr. Perez stop writing your own comments. he is an entertaining man and his notes are pretty clear, but in my years of math i have never seen such hard tests.
people need to give credit where it is due. Mr. Perez's tests weren't hard at all; i mean, he takes the problems straight out of homework, and gives you practice tests which were his old exams and people still fail them. thats just sad. he is very clear in explaining the material and those people who cant handle his humor need to grow a backbone
What an ****. Save yourself the stupid ass jokes and go see anyone else. Clear as a muddy lake.
I could not stand the guy. What a Jack @$$ ! I would take someone else.
At first I didnt like him bc he makes picks on students and makes sure you're paying full attention on him, but he's a Very good teacher and very easy to understand. pay attention and do all your homework and you'll do fine.
he is cool
Larry Perez Is my favorite teacher at saddleback. If you Like math take perez if you don't like math take perez. But look at this level if your not interested in math you might be in the wrong major. Larry is alot like a stand up comic while teaching, in that he makes fun of people in class...you know the ones that never shut up. Great teacher.....
great teacher. makes me WANT to come to class and learn. do the practice exams and actually understand every step of them and you'll be fine for the test; he's a super lazy test maker and recycles a lot of the problems from previous exams. if anything take him for his travolta trigonometry dance moves. so sexy.
What a character! Best math professor to take. Can't go wrong with a little humor every now and then. Do the homework, play attention. Gotta say though, his tests had a few tricky problems that he never went over. All and all, a cool prof!
Prof. Perez is one of the best instructors at Saddleback. He takes a difficult subject and makes it easy to understand. He seems intimidating at first but if you are a serious student with a passion for mathematics he will show you respect...if you've EARNED it. He challenges you but does not overwhelm you. He makes CALCULUS do-able and fun.A+++
This is the worst Math teacher ever! He is so degrading to students and he doesn't answer questions, he just says "See you next semester!" Beware of his annoying habbits of talking about Chucky Cheese. His class is sooooooooo hard and he puts the hardest questions on his difficult exams, no calculators and u have to memorize everything!
He is very helpful if you approach him, but sometimes hard to follow, such as when he suggested we solve a problem not by <incomprehensible method> but by "Kung Fu" as we are in the "big time". His humor makes the class more enjoyable. NOTE: Don't try to take Math3B & Phys4A in summer, that's why I'll be seeing Perez next semester...
funny and enthusiastic. loves chucky cheese and hates people taking stuff off his desk.
I took this class in the summer and it was tough even though I was repeating the course. I must say that I was pleased to see an instructor who did not play favorites. You will get the grade you deserve with this guy. Be ready to work hard and learn. You will have fun too! You'll see!
took his class 2x cuz I failed it the first time. But I took him because he's a good prof. if you are taking upper levels of math you should WANT a prof who is hard on you and makes sure that you get it. people should stop ****ing about it and learn the material... why are you in such a hard class if you can't do the work?
hard! no calculators. homework 24/7. no mercy. buuuut... prof is pretty chill. i really enjoyed his class; you just gotta do the work (which i failed to do; i'm taking it again this semester). had him for trig and i really got it down, know everything by heart! took a different teacher for precal, and i forgot everything that geezer taught.
Probably my favorite math teacher yet.
My name is Clayton Nesheim. I had Mr.Perez for summer and he was a phenominal teacher. He's very helpful and explains everything very clearly. His tests and quizes are very challenging though, but he always gives out tests from previious semesters to study. He even gives out free pizza coupons to Chucky cheese for every A you get on an exam.
"Oh my god! I can actually pass a math class!"
Oh my God! What a nut case! I have never seen a teacher yell at himself on a video. Quite the spectacle. I feel sorry for his Calculus students. Seems like he shows them no mercy! This class is not what I expected. I actually enjoy his math class and I am learning something! Keep making those video's Mr. P. See you in the Big Time!
Mr Perez is only focus is on seeing u next semester..LOL He's a pretty good teacher you just need to make sure you go to class and study the study guides for the tests. I will say, sometimes his lame jokes r a lil over-used but you get used to them.
Zooms through the material, tricky tests. He dresses nice on test days, though. ;)
He tries too hard to include humor, but he sometimes goes overboard and hurt people. Likes to pick on people. Keep up with homework and you will do okay on exams and weekly quizzes. Good guy though
hes hard and bad...and lemme tel u this...he rated himself several times in this website... all the other ratings which are 5 of 5 are himself
He is always commenting on ratemyprofessor.com, which pisses off a lot of people. He is a realllllly hard teacher and does not explain anything in class. His favorite sentence is "next semester". In his class, you have to be able to memorize all his exams from previous semesters if you can find them, which is really hard and an f.
ughh. he'll tell you the exact opposite of what'll be on the tests.
crazy guy. he rates himself on this website so watch out. he probably uploaded half the quotes too. he has a myspace and and makes math videos.
do not take him!!! he makes me stay one more semester and take math 3b one more time!!! he rate himself on this website all the time!!! u dont learn anything in the class. there is going to be 3 test and 1 final. the tests are more than 9 pages and there is going to be more than 18 questions. do not take him cause u end up drop the class or fail i
He is extremely hard on tests, there are always masterminds that manage 100% on his tests, but for the average guy like me they are very hard. And by average I mean i kept a 4.0 for 2 semesters and got my first B in his class on the third. I wish he would just ease up on the tests, way hard. Good guy though, not very clear, but good guy.
warning: picks CLASS FAVORITES. puts TRICKY, uncovered problems on tests/quizzes.
Unfair? Gimme a break. I took this class while I was in high school. I had a great time. This class had everything. Funny, "Big Time", "Next Semester","Chuckie Cheese" and lots of math. Got my first "B" in a math class. Off to the UC now. After one semester, I will miss Saddleback.
I took him about 2 years ago, and yes, he is hard, but he is the only professor that will prepare you for universities. I am now going to Cal State Fullerton, and all of my professors are just like him. He is not trying to trick you; he is trying to teach you.
Expect to work in this class, and do not get behind. Homework is highly recommended, even though he kind of ignores it. Do the homework first, then look at practice tests. All in all, Perez is a good guy, but he won't give you any breaks. I received a very unsatisfying C in his class because I didn't spend enough time practicing the material.
this is what i did, i studied 7-10 hours a day for 4-5 days before the exam and got A's. So if you put in the effort you'll get the grade, if your looking for an easy teacher that u can study a couple of hours for, avoid this one. Perez is an awesome teacher tho... you just have to be on top of it
DO NOT TAKE PEREZ.At the end of the semster he will say, well I know you guys are doing well, but guess what, the Dean of the Math and Science Department says my grades are inflated, so some of you who thought you would pass, are not. This means if you have a B going into the final you may be at risk. Do not waste your money find someone else.
Awesome teacher! Class was pretty hard but there is no way to get around that in statistics. Failed with J. Smith but passed with a high B with Perez. I recommend taking his class over any of the other teachers. Plus, he makes fun of everyone and tells lame jokes!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!! HE IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. HE THINKS HE IS SO FUNNY AND HE IS NOT. AND HE RATES HIMSELF, HE WILL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE YOU LOOK DUMB
This is my first course after being away for 25+ years. Professor Perez is clear in his instructions, creates excellent learning videos and has a great sense of humor. After more than 8 weeks, his class is still full.
I am a returning student taking math after many years. Professor Perez provides more than enough materials to pass this course. With those practice tests and videos, what more can you ask for. Perez doesn't fool around with students who don't put in the effort.
Unfair. There is no extra credit and you do not get any credit for attendance. Always calls on people to answer questions during the class. His exams are long and there is no multiple choice.
Not a good teacher but if you can teach your self his test are not hard.
He is a great teacher! He has TONS of extra study materials. He is sooo funny and makes class interesting! But, if you can't take a joke, or take yourself too seriously, do not take his class. You will hate it! He made a guy cry in my class last semester!
this teacher is a good teacher if u can handle his lame jokes and the constant picking on the smart kids
What???? This is not Mr. Perez. Mr. Perez does not put up with students who do not put in the effort. Students get the gradt they deserve. Givem another semester Mr. P
LoL!!!! Who rights this stuff???? Like Mr. P says, this isn't kindergarten, your in the "Big Time"!
I was so afraid of taking a Math class after being away from school for about 10 years. After taking Mr. Perez, I'm confident I can make it. With the videos and notes, you can't go wrong. The worst part of of this class is all the disprespectful students in the class. The best part is watcing Professor Perez put them in their place.
Well, this guy is really the man. If you want to learn math and be able to fine on higher level math classes, you have got to take this guy. His class is just fun man, he picks on random people and will make everyone in the class laugh. I had him last year but his class just really prepared me for any integral for my upper level math and physics cl
If you're nervous about taking this class, don't be.He is very helpful, and he explains things well. He is very funny! I would highly recommend him.
Best teacher ever!!!! Take him for sure!!
Great Teacher!
Finally, a teacher that doesn't show any favortism. If you are use to getting your way in other math classes, go elsewhere. You will definetly earn your grade in this class. No claculators, no cheat sheets, no group work and no make-ups.
Hard class! You will either put in the time or waste your dime. Nobody passes for free! Has these corny videos for his algebra classes and dances too!
Hard, hard exams! The one thing I will say about Mr. Perez, he makes it look so easy when he does it on the board. So easy, it's frustrating. Honestly, you will be forced to learn or as he always seems to say, See you Next Semester"!
There are still instructors like Mr. Perez who maintain high expectations for his calculus students. There is no way to cheat in his class because he uses random assigned seating during exam days and even checks your erasers! Even though I failed his 1st exam (which I deserved) I am still sticking it out because I'm being challenged to learn.
I took a teacher for 3A that made us use calculators for everything and now I am SUFFERING BIG TIME because of it - Perez actually makes you THINK!!! Gotta go learn my unit circle now...
I have really enjoyed Mr. Perez's class. I hated math until I took his class. He is a great teacher. I recommend him highly.
I a non-traditional student and my last math class was 20 yrs ago. I was so scared about taking a math class. My counselor reccomended that I take Mr. Perez. I can truly say is has been a life changing event for me. Math can be fun. Take his class and you will see for your self. Thank you Mr. Perez, because of you I'm going to be a nurse!
Imagine my surprise when I attended my first math class after 32 years to have such a wonderful professor. Perez is the ultimate in teachers. He is motivating, intelligent, and really loves what he does. Whether you are just out of HS or going back to college after 30 yrs, you won't be disappointed. He is the best!
This guy gets straight down to business, yet is relaxed at the same time. Entertaining lectures for once in a math class. He gives plenty of guidance for what will be covered and types of problems on the tests. Has a website with old tests with solutions and videos for help. Great teacher, but you will work hard to earn that grade. Know your trig
Funny and very lively! Knows his math and puts in jokes every now and then. He loves Chucky Cheese.. so if you dont have a pencil, go and play the bowling game, get 5 tix and there's your pencil :)
By far THEE BEST math teacher i have ever had! His lectures are never boring because he is hilarious! Gives practice test that look exactly like the exams so theres no reason to fail them! Take him!! you wont regret it!
Awsome teacher. Explains everything very well and he is really funny. He loves Chucky E. Cheese!!
BEST MATH TEACHER!!! Extremely helpful. Class goes by so fast. His tests are very easy! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Mr. Perez is a great teacher, he has online notes and videos. I hated math before and now I enjoy it. Attend the class and do homework and you'll get a good grade.
Best math teacher! I'm in the class right now with an A. One warning, actually write out the notes, don't just print them from his site. You won't learn nearly as much. He's very clear in his lessons. Class just is sucky because there's so many whiny, lazy people who don't actually want to learn, just want shortcuts. Pay attention & you'll do fine.
He is a great teacher! He's funny, and he makes math easy to understand!
TAKE HIM IF IT'S YOUR FIRST MATH CLASS IN COLLEGE. If you don't like math, this professor will make math easy and comprehensible. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! JUST SHOW UP FOR CLASS AND BE WILLING.
MR. PEREZ IS CRAZY!!! HE'LL MAKE FUN OF YOU IF YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION. I DIDN'T STUDY AND I GOT A B IN HIS CLASS!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!
he's very clear, and has all these videos on teacher tube so you don't have to seek help w/the tutors. the only downfall is his classes fill up quickly and they are difficult to get into if you petition the first day.
Professor Perez in the best math teacher I have ever had. Never in my life have I ever had an A in algebra, that is until now! He is very funny and it helps makes the class move along faster. If you do the homework and study the practices tests, you will get a good grade. If you put forth the effort, it will pay off. Best math class I have ever had!
Awesome-Awesome-Awesome-Awesome-Individual, Prof. Perez really cares about his students! Yeap, He's the real thing! The world needs more people like him.
Prof Perez is a unique teacher. He looks out for your best interest and does everything in his power to accommodate everyones needs. He has tools on line to help those struggling. When studying for exams just use the practice tests. They are helpful tools when unsure how to do something. He's a 10+!
By far, the best teacher at Saddleback. If you are struggling in math, take Perez for sure. I had failed 251 three times before this semester, and he was my last hope. He's really clear on techniques, gives you practice exams that are identical to the real thing, and makes you like coming to class. I ended up with a B. Wish he taught 253!
Hi, This is Charlie. Perez gives me a hard time all the time. But if you do the work you will do fine!
the best teacher i have ever had he knows what he is teaching and how to teach it the best way so it makes sense and yu can understand it. math is my WORST subject but by taking him i have learned soooooooooo much and i am very grateful that i had the opportunity to take the class.....he is very sarcastic and fun and i enjoyed ging to class
He is Saddleback's Teacher of the Year and Orange county's teacher of the year!!! He really wants you to learn. He is the best by far. TAKE HIM!!!
I am a high school drop-out, and now a ruturning student. Math has always been my reason for staying away from school in fear that I would always fail, that is, up until now. Profosser Perez has shown me that it is possible to succeed in math, and his amazing sense of humor and turned my tears into laughter as I am no longe afraid of failure.
dont waste your time, take someone else.
Is an awesome teacher. Wants you to succeed. Cares about his students, while at the same time, makes fun of them, as a joke, so don't take the jokes seriously. Is my favorite math teacher. I actually remember some of the stuff that he taught us. Has his own website with the notes and practice exams which are almost like the actual test.
he's not much help just rushes through his discussions
This was a great class! Finally, someone who made me earn my grade. He has a website to help you pass the class. Just look at his Algebra2go website and you will see what i mean!
it seems like he just enjoys to show off how much he knows math and doesnt want to teach it
First off, anyone saying he just shows off and doesn't help students is completely wrong. He is always after class to answer questions and help anyone. This is a math class, you do have to try, do the homework & study. But for anyone who isn't great at math, Perez really helps & makes you look at things from a new perspective so you understand it.
If you can get into his class go for it! I learned alot by using the videos and notes off the website. There's no reason to not pass his class other than not trying.
Class is fun. So far so good. The website really helps.
The class is great! If you're someone like me who gets distracted by students texting, talking, or just being rude during class, just let him know. He will deal with it! His website is extremely helpful! I recommend this class to anyone who has been away from school like me for a long, long time :)
Mr. Perez is a really good teacher, his class is fun and interesting, if you have trouble with math this is the teacher for you, he provides a ton of resources for you to study and learn from.
I was never any good at math untill I took perez. He's very helpful, if you miss any classes there is a website to help you catch up. He does go through it kind of fast but he'll look back to make sure no one is having any problems & he teaches in a way that you'll understand. pretests are just like the actual tests. stays after class if u have ?'s
This class was extremely easy, but if you had a question that wasn't directly from his notes he is useless. To be perfectly honest you don't even need to attend the class just go on to his "web site" and everything is there. This was the easiest A I have ever had.
It was an great class but it wasn't easy. Just follow the course on his website and you should have no problem. There is lots of practice stuff online and you don't need need to enroll to use it.
Finally someone who is going to hold high standards for a class! No calculators here and you have to show all your work on the exams. Be prepared for lots of homework and he expects you to know all your trig like the back of your hand. I could do without his "Next Semester" and "Chuckie Cheese's" comments but I guess it works for him ;)
One of the most challenging math classes I've taken. Not because of the material but because of the amount of homework and no calculators on exams. Not an easy A by no means! You will learn a great deal if you keep up. I had Perez for pre-algebra a long time ago and he's a different person here...meaner but with same corny jokes.
Tough class, no calculators, lots of hwk, 2 hour exams (No scantrons), drops 1 exam, cumulative final, gives you practice exams, corny jokes!
Mr. Perez is so hard and he does not let students use a calculator on the exams. There are no make-ups but he does drop one of your exams. The exam questions are ridiculously hard and it's impossible to get an A in his class. He writes his own ratings so don't beleive anything you read here.
one of the worst teachers i have ever had! i have never used this site to rate any professors, and i just had to with this guy, he ruined my gpa and he was just terrible. gave exam questions that he never covered in class! TERRIBLE TERRIBL TERRIBLE!
he can be the best teacher you could ever have for math in saddleback college. he give self confidence for solving the math problem . he is fuuny as well.
Mr. Perez is best Math teacher ever. Math has always been the worst subject for me that is until I took Mr. Perez. He is funny and entertaining. Also very clear in his lectures. He gives a practice exam which is exactly the same as the actual exam. Bottom line if you do the work you will do good. I got an A last semester and I'm taking him again no
One of the BEST math teachers you will ever have! You just need to show up to class and practice. Very entertaining and fun!
He is the best professor ever. He teaches so well.
Took Perez for 3A, 3B. Got A's in both because Perez is knowledgeable, really cares about the students. Show an interest in your education, he'll go out of his way to help. He appreciates when students put in the work. Drops lowest test. Great Teacher. Wish he taught 3c, 24, 26, and physics.
AMAZING teacher. He genuinely cares about you and your learning, and goes out of his way to help. I switched into his class and am so glad I did. I used to hate math, but now that I understand it and enjoy coming to class, I'm starting to like it. That's right, I said LIKE math. The world needs more people like this, especially the education field!
I've been away from books, school, and young sometimes annoying students, for many years. I had a great time with Mr. Perez and now I enjoy doing math. When Perez teaches, it's not all about the math! What I liked most about his class is that he challenged us...and not everyone automatically passes. I laughed...I cried...but I finally did it!
Professor Perez goes out of his way to make Algebra understandable and enjoyable. For anyone that is returning to school, this is the Algebra class to take. Online videos and worksheets are a great addition to the class. Come to class, do your homework! Don't sit in the back pretending he doesn't see you. He knows you're there!
Mr. Perez was one of the best math faculty on campus. If you attend his classes and take note and review your homework you will get an A. He will pass sample test prior the exams which is close to the test's materials. Not and easy class but a very good teacher. Have to study for this class.
Although his test is harder than the study guide, he is one of the easiest teacher in math department.
He is the best teacher I have ever had. He is very entertaining and really helps you understand math. He goes out of his way to offer all the help you need in and out of class.
Perez's class is entertaining but not at all easy. No calculators, 3x5 cards, or cheat sheets allowed on exams. He will check your eraser to make sure nothing is written on it! His first exam was difficult and you must know all your graphs from pre-cal. He even does these corny dance moves to help you remember your trig graphs. Fun but hard!
If you want to be forced to learn and need a good kick in the rear like me, take Perez! Seriously, I had to work a lot in the LRC with others and Perez seems to hang out over there all the time. BTW, if you go to his office hours, make sure you have class notes or he will tell you to get out.
This class is NOT EASY but his corny jokes makes things fun! He always cracks jokes about Chuckie Cheese. He hands out practice exams but homework problems end up on the exams as well. Does not give out many A's but you will learn a lot. Trying to get into 3B with him but the class filled up so fast! I need an APC Perez!
even though I wasnt his student, he was helping me with every question I had ! isnt this amazing ? who doest it ? no one ! he is so caring and a real Professor in a right position. well Done Larry, you are the best !
Professor Perez rules. Really funny dude that will help his students in any way that he can. Tests are fair - problems come from homework, lecture examples, and practice exams. He is in the LRC often, a place I recommend to anyone taking a math course. Take him if you can! I honestly looked forward to going to math; we had fun while learning.
Perez makes class fun. The class itself is hard, if you don't try to understand the material and just memorize stuff. Also, your math foundation must be solid. At this level, there shouldn't be people asking about algebraic operations, and Perez knows this man. Exams are similar to practice exams. 3 exams 1 dropped. Final is 1/3 of grade.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had in my entire life. I have been a C,D,F student in math and I got my first A in his class. I actually understand! He is a fair grader and makes the class fun. He deserves a medal or something.
He is an amazing teacher. You learn Kung Fu in class.
Mr. Perez is good professor and funny, I learned the easy way and the kun fu was helpful.
He has an amazing balance between his humor and seriousness that other professors can learn from. Videos were extremely helpful especial for the exams. I wish he taught all of the math classes.
BIG TIME! He explains the material well and tries to offer visual images of why theorems work. He gave us all of last semester's exam which I believe was a HUGE help. He also has a bunch of practice problems. He will tell you what kind of questions will be on exams! Funny guy and class. Final is hard and 1/3 of grade. Three exams w/ one dropped.
Best math teacher ever. Perez is knowledgeable and humble. He really cares about his students.
I took two algebra classes before and failed both of them. Luckily I was able to get in to Perez's class and FINALLY, I can go on to the next level! The key to passing is to study the practice tests he gives you. They're similar to the actual tests. I would definitely recommend him!
BEST math teacher ever. He is the only Math Teacher who has helped me succeed in math and that is reallly sayin something. He really cares if you put in the effort you are supposed to. Would recommend to people who truly struggle with math. For those who don't, don't take him because hes easy to you! Save his seats for the rest of us!
Mr. Perez made helped me understand math. I have struggled all my life with math. He is a genuine man, who wants his students to succeed, understand, and do their best. His lectures are never dull. He includes the class, is very interactive and breaks down all the steps. Not to mention he is funny. I actually enjoy this class! Perez is the best!!
He is good makes it easy to learn and gives more details then other teachers do he is very helpful shows you the easy and hard way to do it. Kung Fu oh yah.
Perez's exams were the hardest I have ever taken but he does provide you with old exams and even last semesters exam. Don't think you will see the same problems though, they will be different. Only a simple calculator is allowed on the exam. You will spend a lot of time studying for this class, but for some weird reason this class is a lot of fun.
If you are going to take Perez do not take a heavy load. This is not an easy class but there are many chances to bring up your grade with take-home quizzes and he always puts extra points on the exams. His exams are looooooooonnnnnnng but he grades fairly with partial credit. He doesn't check your homework but you better do it if you want to pass.
BIG TIME. Had him Fall 2013. His tests are very hard nothing like the homework or the "study guides" he hands out. But he will make work for your grades, which is why he says you're in BIG TIME math. His lectures are very clear and he will drop your lowest test. This isn't kindergarten calculus, its up to you if want to do well.
AVOID!!! I never had hard time studying math before this class. this professor should not even teach a pre algebra class, he does not know how to teach and during all semester long he did not solve any problem right on the board! He even could not answer the questions on his own exams, and tried to be funny all the time abt it! HORRIBLE TEACHER
Great teacher! He wants his students to succeed and stays on campus to help his students. Everyone that posts to not take him last semester were high school pre calc students who thought they could get an A in a Saddleback 3A course just because they took pre calc AP. Its a math class. Do the homework, study, give some effort, you will get an A.
His class was extremely challenging but he tries his best to help. You need to review the materials constantly and do all of the homework (although not graded) to do well in this class. 3 exams, 1 dropped + final. The final is soooooo long and difficult. Had a 90% throughout the class but the final threw me off BIG TIME. So beware!! Funny at times.
Avoid this guy if you can.
This professor was very helpful. He really understood where we came from, he loved to make jokes even in math to help us remember things . On the other side he was very encouraging.
Simply put he's the best. Its not an easy A at all but you will get one if you study. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he's really funny. Your take home quizzes and tests often mirror the actual tests so study them. He's really the best math teacher I've ever had, I've never had an A in math before but I have one now. His online videos are great
if you can do his hundreds of practice exams, you'll do great
Best math class I've ever had. He answers questions even the stupid ones. He is brutally honest. It comes off as rude but it's what some people need to hear. His test are beyond difficult but do-able if your willing to put in the work. He offers practice exams to work on your Kung Fu. Downside, he's obsessed with chuck e cheese for some reason
Professor Perez is by far the BEST professor at saddleback for calc. Be sure to complete the homework because the trickier questions on the test come directly from the homework, that is the point of math, to challenge students! Gives practice tests (not every calc teacher does this). IF YOU GET STICK, ASK FOR HELP DURING OFFICE HOURS! Great teacher
THE ULTIMATE BEST PROFESSOR IN SADDLEBACK!!! SEMPER FIDELIS!!!!
I absolutely dreaded calculus and math in general before enrolling in his MATH 3B class. He keeps the class very engaged and focused. The class is fast paced and he has very clear lectures. The best math professor I have had in a LONG time. The class demands a lot of hard work and studying. Be prepared for some BIG TIME Kung Fu.
Perez is an amazing teacher. His lectures are very clear and his tests are straight-forward. Its a calculus class so its obviously going to be difficult, but if you put a lot of effort into it, go to class, and do the homework you should be prepared.
Professor Perez is an amazing math instructor. I took his Math 3B class Spring 2014 and it was a blast. He would always call on the same people to answer the question, but if he does that then that means you are one of his favorites. Do the homework and always ask questions. 3 exams, he drops 1 which is good. Don't slack off, its not easy but fair.
Perez is a great Professor. He is always willing to help you out and really wants you to succeed. However, his tests are very tough. Take notes on the whole lecture and keep up on your homework. Ask him any questions you have on breaks or his office hours.
It seems like Perez has lost his passion for teaching. Instead of trying to convey fascinating concepts he acts condescendingly or mocks students when he is able to. I can't count how many times he insulted IVC / students from IVC. The point is that no one cares about that and it's a waste of his potential for teaching and disincentives learning.
Larry Perez is the best instructor that I have had so far. His lectures are clear and his classes are fun. His exams are solid, but by doing homework and practice exams, you can handle his course. I looked at UCLA exams for equivalent course , and I felt pretty comfortable while I was in 3A. He prepares you for UCLA and UC Berkeley....
Test not hard if you do all the practice problems. Has many practice test for you to do. Homework is optional. Chill lecture. Do all pract. problems and its easy A. Doesn't give quizzes. If he remembers to give quiz that week, its usually take home, and if you attempt it, you get credit. Test are out of 150. 165 possible pt's. Would recommend. :D
One of the very few professors to give you his last semester's exams. His lectures are clear and concise while his sarcasm serves to help you not fall asleep. Do the homework as well as you can and he'll give you full credit. Study all of his practice exams and review the notes and homework. His class isn't easy, just prepare and you'll be fine.
Great professor, hard subject. He teaches it well and makes a lot of jokes during class. Tests are hard but do able if you study his previous exams. The final was easy. Doesn't really check homework, but you should still do it if you want to pass.
Larry's a great instructor and calculus is indeed a subject that requires considerable time spent with the material. He gets down to it in class with lots of examples and will answer any question thrown at him. His exams presuppose an understanding of algebra and trigonometry (and so too geometry) as they should, after all, it's the big time.
He's lectures are hilarious! His 3 tests are challenging ,but gives you practice tests that are very similar to his actual test. He drops one of them. The hw is helpful but required. His quizzes are also free points. He is not easy, but fair. Calculus is a hard subject. Do the work you'll get the A!
I have been out of school for more that 20years. Never understood math my whole life, but this professor made me see sense in math. Would take in again in a heartbeat
I took this class in spring 2016 and it was the most difficult class ever. But I must say, finally I found a teacher who forces you to learn the material. No easy B's here. Lots of homework. He hands out the previous semester's exams so nobody has an advantage. Hated the class but taking Math3B this summer with him. I'm crazy but I am learning.
I took Larry for 3B in the fall of 2015, after spending countless hours in his office getting help from him the entire semester, he still only remembers me as "The Mexican kid". Extremely helpful and nice if you don't take his sarcasm seriously. Would recommend for anybody who wants to genuinely learn the material.
I took both Calc 3A and 3B with Prof Perez He is a really organized teacher and his lecture notes are already on algebra2go and his practice exams are extremely helpful His exams are hard and in order to succeed you MUST do the hw tough grader but he is so fuuny
Having him currently for math 3a, as long as you do the review test and listen to lectures in the class, you should be able to get A. No attendance, three tests (drops one), and gives free points for hws and quizzes.
I took Perez for all of my Algebra classes. None of them were easy classes. Perez makes math FUN-he explains material clearly, is genuine, and is Hilarious! These classes challenged me, but I understood Algebra more than I ever have before. Do homework, Practice Tests, ask questions, study hard, and enjoy Perez-he is the BEST! Highly recommend him!
Very smart guy and he knows what his doing. Try to always solve the problem by using kongfu techniques. No Quizzes or Hws and he gave 100% for all of them. Each test has extra points in it, that is why I got all my tests over 100%
Larry is not easy. He helps you out by giving extra credit on the exams. But still, if you want an A, you should work very hard. exams are difficult.
Took this guy for Math 3B. IT WAS an extremely difficult class and his exams were brutal. Going to take the final in a couple of days. I didn't realize how much I actually learned until I started reviewing for the final. Tough class and very time consuming. Gave me a good kick in the rear. It was what I needed. Thanks Perez!
Better be a Kung Fu Master or you will get a C, and C stands for C you next semester. Best math teacher I have had, the tests are some of the hardest problems in math but getting an a or b is do able. if you know your graphing well and can learn concepts at an accelerated rate. Would recommend over every other teacher.
tests are extremely hard and because of that doing the hw or his lecture problems are useless. Don't take it!
LARRY is a funny guy and will not put you to sleep during lecture. His tests are difficult. Do not take his eight week course or you'll be living in the LRC. The final has many questions and if he says it's cumulative... IT'S CUMULATIVE. Don't mistake cumulative with easy though. Best of luck future students, stay on top of related rates.
Hes so funny. The lecture is great. Make sure that you study hard for the test.
Great pro I've ever had. The tests are heavy, so you should study hard!
He is a good math professor. He knows the material and how to teach it. However, to do well in his class to receive an A, you have to do and understand all the hw and notes. Print his notes online so you can just listen to lecture! His test are fairly difficult but if you understand all the practice tests on his website, you will do well.
Hes teaching style makes you feel dumb. If you do not know or remove absolutely everything he says, thats kindergarten stuff he lectures fast and is very difficult. On the test it seems as if he picks the hardest exam questions. He also only lets you use a simple calculator which only adds, multiply, and divides. No scientific at all
Perez is awesome! This guy is extremely funny which makes the lectures very entertaining. Quizzes every week that are take home. All you have to do is complete it all and hell give you 100%. Tests are very hard but he will take EXACT questions from the study guide and put it on the test. Half the tests are exact study guide questions. Take him!
One of the best professors here at Saddleback. If you get the opportunity, take his class. He makes lectures entertaining and will go above and beyond to make sure you understand. Take advantage of his office hours and the tutoring center as this class does require a lot of effort. Also, he provides online lecture notes and practice tests. Awesome!
I have always struggled with, even despised, math. BUT, Professor Perez really changed my thoughts on math. He is hands dow the BEST math teacher I've ever had in my life. His class is very entertaining (btw he's obsessed with Chuck-E-Cheese). He makes calculus very understandable... his tests could be hard, but you will do well if you try hard! :)
He is one okay not awesome math professor but HARD. his lectures are okay and sometimes you need to go over textbook to understand concept. doesn't collect homeworks. no quiz just three exam and they are hard and super long. if you show up on class and study hard you can get A.
Tests are long and tough. His lecture notes are not the best and when you do not understand a concept, you may need to use the book or other materials to understand the resources. He does not "GRADE" quizzes or homework but he gives them and if you want to pass, do all of it. 3 tests plus a final, he drops your lowest test score. Overall, great guy
I really liked how he teaches, plus he makes the class more interesting with his comments. He has these sample exams posted online on his website and they help a lot. He also posts his lecture notes online so you can print them out before class. His exams are tough, but with the enough time and work you put into practicing, an A is doable.
Larry Perez is seriously amazing, you cant go wrong if you decide to take him. His lectures are always fun, he makes jokes the whole time but all of the material is important so pay attention and take notes. He is a really big help inside and outside of class, his quizzes are easy points, his exams are challenging. He's a great professor who cares.
He was the best Math teacher I have ever had!!!
This class was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. This is coming from someone who is studying CS and Engineering for UCI. His exams consists of problems that are 10x harder than the notes ones, and very difficult to finish with no curve. I studied 70+ hours for the third exam, and was confident in the material but only finished half. No go
He gives 11 take home quizzes in which you can drop 1 so getting a 100 on quizzes is easy if you do it. There are 3 tests and 1 final cumulative, each tests are 150 points and you can drop 1. His tests are pretty long so make sure you do the practice tests he gives. Do well on the first 2 because the 3rd exam was hell. Funny guy but class was HARD!
Tests are hard. Especially, the final is so heavy which is worth 33% of your grade. Take someone else at ivc if you can. In scientific and mathematical area, ivc has much better teachers. However, in other area, such as English, arts, foreign language, the professors at saddleback are better. Take class wisely at both of campuses.
Perez makes you work hard for his exams. There is definitely no slacking if you want to get a good grade taking his class. This is not an easy A, make sure you understand the concepts if you want to do well for the exams. He gives 100% for the homework and quizzes, which is a 10% curve to your overall grade. He wants students to succeed!
HE IS AMAAAAZING. he makes you work hard and he has very good lectures. gives a lot of partial credit when correcting exams. BUT, his exams are extremely difficult if you're looking for a easy A class don't take it. but you will learn a lot. His Kung fu method is so good. you have to put time in. His exams really test your knowledge.
His notes are very helpful and organized. Hated asking him any questions because he always rushes you and acts as if you're wasting his time which is pretty rude.
I took 353 with Professor Perez and he was the best. He gives really good lectures. He is very funny and makes jokes all the time. He makes you like math. I got a C+ on the class but it wasn't his lectures because he is not a bad teacher, it was me because I didn't study for my test. Not a lot of hw and tests are very straight forward. No quizzes.
My grade before the final was 81%, after the final i got a D. Now i have to take summer, class was hard and the proffesor picks hard problems on tests. If you want to tale him, you have to be really good in math. If not, take someone else
Got an A in his 3A over the summer. For 3B, a D. Frustrating teaching style. Takes his time on easy stuff and has to rush though the hard stuff, only puts the hard ones on the exams. Successfully used "kung fu" on exams but received less than half credit for not showing work. Must be fluent and !!!FAST!!! in the language of calculus just to pass.
Here is the outline of the class: 3 exams, 1 dropped 11 quizzes, 1 dropped Homework optional 1 final, 33% of your grade Solutions Posted Exams are extremely difficult. You MUST study for these exams. Chances are, you will study more for this class than many of your others. 3rd exam is the hardest, get your best grades on the first two. Good luck!
If you are a genius take him otherwise choose a different teacher. He doesnt curve but He gives partial credit on the test, His tests are very long, impossible to finish and way harder than his quizzes and homework. 3rd exam was hell. He spends some weekends helping students at LRC. If you want a good grade this is not the teacher you need.
Gives ec points on exams and drops lowest score. Final is very challenging. Do not take class if you do not have time to dedicate to the class. Very funny also.
Class was ok at first but goes downhill FAST. Do not be FOOLED. If you did bad early you might as well drop. Even if you have a B early on, his later tests will come out of the depths of Hades and pull your grade down. If you survive, his finals will be your final boss. Except if you're not max lvl with ultimate weapons you will FAIL. PLS AVOID
This page is getting bombarded cuz there's a lot of salty kids for 3b in spring which I took. His 3A class is pretty manageable but 3B was harder. His tests are as difficult as other profs @saddleback but his notes do not prepare you as well(I took another 3b prof). His practice tests help but there's always a curve ball question. Do his prac tests!
Perez is a fantastic teacher, but you will seriously have you put in work to understand everything for this class. He does not spoon feed you or make it easy. If you want to truly understand calculus take Perez. HW not mandatory, but helpful. Quizes are extremely helpful in studying for the exams. Cure 10% on exams. Also, he is beyond hilarious!
If you can teach yourself he is great! The semester starts out slow then he goes into turbo mode and really not helpful during office hours.
He lectures neatly and does a lot of demonstrations in class. His tests are a bit difficult but nothing you would be surprised seeing(looks like the homework). He says he doesn't curve but he slightly curves towards the end of the class. Funny and easy to approach, will always listen to your questions. Dont expect an easy pass, read book and do hw
Perez is one of the best math professors I've taken. He's very funny and down to earth and teaches material in great detail, as well as teaches the shortcuts without cutting corners. He is known for hard tests and there is a lot of studying, however tests are graded fairly and the lowest test grade is dropped. Gives proper feedback as well.
I have always loved math (and always got an A) until I took his class. He is funny and his lectures are not painfully boring but I studied so hard to get to an exam that was unbelievably difficult. Though he is a really nice guy, he doesn't curve and I came home crying after every one of his exams
Perez is a funny professor but when it comes to teaching he is very difficult. Get ready to learn Cal 2 concepts when they're not needed. Exams are very difficult, only lets you use the calculators he provides you with (non scientific) Never really got why these professors do things like this when in the field your have these tools at your disposal
He is impossibly hard. If you want to teach yourself beyond what he teaches you so you can pass the exams then take him. Plan on spending a lot of time on you tube. He is friendly, but I don't recommend.
Exams are just unrealistically difficult. Mastering calculus is important, but very difficult to do over this short of a period. He also limits what you're allowed to use on exams and it's unrealistic. I am sure that engineers use scientific calculators. Study guides are also misleading and overwhelming at the same time. He also lacks empathy
Wish I had taken him for 3B. Perez is great - his practice exams help a lot with the tests, and he always puts extra points on the exams because he wants you to succeed. Take him!
Perez is a decent professor, but the material is very difficult to grasp in such a short amount of time. It doesn't help that he makes the exams unreasonably more difficult than both the homework and practice exams. I am grateful for the practice exams he provided but they hardly prepared me. I've always gotten A's in Math but not in this class...
Perez is a phenomenal Professor. He is funny, his lectures are engaging, and he connects concepts to other concepts to really solidify the learning. Dont come to class late; he will roast you.
He constantly gets lost in every lecture! It honestly seems like the school put him in this position because they needed a Physics professor quickly and he already was a calc professor. I learned by studying the notes. During quarantine, his Zoom lectures always cut out because of HIS poor WiFi connection. He is a nice and approachable guy, however
Hes super nice! So funny and easy going. Hes an awesome teacher. Have a great teaching skill and also fair grading. I love him!
I took Math 3A with Perez and I am currently taking Math 3B with him as well (COVID time). I really like this professor and he is very helpful. His lectures are amazing and he does a great job of explaining everything. Take him if you truly want to understand Calculus. However, his tests are ridiculously hard. For us, attendance was not mandatory.
After the first exam, 30% of my class dropped. The mean average of the first test was 63/150 42%. This Prof. wants you to "understand calc?" The data says otherwise...
Hes one of if not the best Professor Ive had. Clearly knows his stuff and has a great sense of humor. Only 3 exams and you can drop the lowest one. Quiz are take home quizzes, + little to no homework. He is super nice and caring, can be pretty lenient on grading. Overall a great Professor, you can not pass up on Prof. Perezs class!!!
If you can get above a 60% on the three exams he gives you, you are guaranteed a C. However half of the class has dropped by the Excused Withdrawal date because he writes his exams very differently and more difficult than the take home quizzes. I know calculus, he just writes really tough tests. Avoid him if you can, but he's a really funny guy.
As far as calculus professors go, Prof. Perez is a standout. He is good at what he does and his lectures are not tedious like a lot of them are. He provides notes and recorded lectures on Canvas if you miss class, so if you commit to learning the content at home you can definitely skip a few classes.
Because of COVID, most of his lectures are pre recorded so you can just watch them at home if you want but being in class is helpful. Your lowest test score will be dropped! If you can set aside a good amount of time for this class to study you will be okay and pass! Do NOT underestimate the difficulty of the tests! Overall he is a good teacher!
Very funny and caring guy who wants students to succeed. This is not an easy class, but if you go to lecture, do homework, and go to office hours, an A is very doable. He gives full points for completing take home quizzes (a 10% boost). If you want a fair class where you will learn a lot (and maybe even learn to enjoy physics), take him!
Professor Perez is funny and approachable. The homework problems will prepare you to tackle the problems on the test. Even though I have had extensive prior experience with physics and consider myself to have a strong mathematical background, earning an A in the class was no walk in the park. While it was not an easy A, I really enjoyed his class!
For home work and quizzes, he gives you the hardest possible problems available, but if you do the work you will be extremely prepared for the tests which are typically easier.
Don't listen to these reviews, Perez is a terrible professor for anything from calc to physics. I have never met a student that liked the way he conducted his classes. A part of me suspects he fills the reviews up himself with positive comments because there's no way anyone, including myself would give him a good rating.
Extremely dull and boring lectures, but gets the job done. Teaching is clear and is mainly just him going over his lecture notes. Only 3 exams and are usually the most difficult problems. They are easy if you study his practice exams which are almost identical.
I would not recommend this class to anyone, the lectures are all over the place and the exams are too difficult. The quizzes are free points but everything else is terrible.
Take a different professor for calculus. He is extremely lecture-heavy and drastically overcomplicates concepts. The test which is written is extremely hard, and regardless of how much you study, you will struggle with them. Tests make up a majority of your grade, I urge you to stay away. Majority of my class dropped after exam 1. Funny guy though.
If you actually care to learn Calculus, take him. If you want an easy A, look somewhere else. The students that struggle in his class are the ones that don't study and/or are missing a strong foundation in Algebra. You must study after each lecture to grasp the material and perform well on the difficult exams! Overall, he is very fair and logical.
Absolutely do not take this class for physics. He doesn't know what he is doing in class and he just quickly scrolls through his pre filled out lecture notes. I witnessed him outside of class asking one of the actual physics professors on how to do a basic intro to physics problem because he didn't understand it. He should NOT be teaching physics
He isn't the greatest at helping people understand the material so you tend to do a lot of self study. Tests are really difficult but he always gives a 10-15 point curve and keeps the best 2 out of the 3 tests. Definitely not a free A but you'll be able to really understand the material once you get out.
3b course taught in a similar style to 3a although much more challenging. Tests are very difficult and long. Class averages for tests are an F, so don't expect to pass if you don't plan on trying. Lectures are clear, although they can be very boring and pedantic.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! His tests are beyond difficult and do not accurately represent the level of difficulty on the homework and other assignments. Homework barely influences your grade. My class started with 40 students, there were 11 by the final. All test averages were F's, including the final. No way more than 5 people passed. AVOID!!!
I've had Professor Perez for both 3A and 3B, and he's been outstanding. His teaching style is highly visual, making it easier to grasp complex concepts. In general, the semester is quite fair, and if you complete the coursework and homework, you should be able to get an A.
Don't take his class.
always made lectures super entertaining and not boring. make sure u go to office hours, he is very helpful if u take the time to ask.
Pros: Willing to explain/pull up material no matter how trivial Sense of humor Will "curve" every test by adding extra points Cons: Notes examples will have mistakes Basically 0 graded HW (besides take home quizzes) (you need to teach yourself the concepts/problems) Lectures hard to follow Less and less mltplchoice q's each successive exam
The lecture mostly consisted of the textbook. Since this was a fast summer course, the exams felt very frequent. Exams are 70% of the grade, but he does drop your lowest grade exam. The exams are VERY difficult, but there is a lot of partial credit, so it balances it out. If you do the quizzes, you'll be fine. Larry is a funny and caring guy.
Professor Perez is engaging, but the class is no walk in the park. Attend lectures, do homework, and visit office hours - it'll help you grasp the material. unstuckstudy AI and other online tools were lifesavers for studying.
In terms of his teaching style, Prof. Perez does a pretty good job of explaining concepts in my opinion. The one thing about him that I just couldn't get over was the amount of weirdly suggestive and inappropriate comments he made towards his female students on a daily basis. I would leave every single lecture/lab period feeling very uncomfortable.
he is funny and the lectures were fun to attend
Funny guy, but often got lost on problems he had pre-written for lecture. Took up to 40 minutes on an example because of his errors, so I recommend watching other lecturers online to understand material. Test are tough and not properly curved. He's a good guy, but class could be much better with proper lectures. Take someone else.
One of my favorite classes. I took him twice. Very caring and understanding.
He provides no extra credits whatsoever, nothing really matters here. Labs and homework quizzes don't do anything for your grade. Just do good on the exams and you'll pass. If you choke on exams too bad. You have to come back. He rarely responds to emails. He was always staring at the board trying to figure out how to teach the material.
