Mr. Poller uses everyday examples to get the material across. He has a good sense of humor. He can make the most mundane topics seem interesting.
Prof. Poller is cool & he knows his stuff. A bit disorganized. I'm sure that will improve once he teaches more courses at PHCC.
Mr. Poller is a brilliant educator. I highly recommend his classes. Bring a highlighter.
He is very helpful. Great teaching skills. He makes sure you understand the course and is very much available when he is needed. any questions just ask.
Professor Poller. Is an awesome instructor, he is very clear, and precise in his teaching. Makes sure you understand the material. Is available for questions at anytime.
Great teacher. Test's are difficult. Lots of writing.
Professor Poller, is very keen and an instrumental part of your learning the material. He emphasizes everything thats needed and then some, he is very helpful and responsive to any and all questions and explanations. It was great being in his class
Great teacher! Displays what he teaches. Very educated in all subject areas, and brings life experiences to the class. Sets high standards for his students and is there to help them reach them. He has dry sense of humor, and I love when he starts talking in Spanish!
Mr. Poller is a fine instructor that actually WANTS his students to learn and that is a quality infrequently enountered in the halls of academia. I respect and admire the manner in which he conveys knowledge to those students that want to learn.
Professor Poller is a professor who cares about what he does and is adament about teaching you the material and you learning the material. Any student who needs help, he's there. He is more than fair in all endeavors. Great being in his class.
Proffessor Poller is a wonderful teacher. His class is not easy but I learned a lot and with the extra credit he offered got an A. Firts test was the hardest and a lot of students gave up but they got better. Papers were easy to write.
Dr. Poller has the most Beautiful mind at this institution.. Better than proffessors i had @ UCF... Take any and all his classesa if you wish enlightenment...
I took Mr. Pollers Applied Ethics class, Great Class.... Great Teacher. I really enjoyed the lectures. Its one of those classes that make you think about things in a real life sort of way. I would recommend this class, or this teacher rather, to anyone. (I know you read these Mr. Poller.... Thanks for a great semester.)
Best teacher at PHCC! Knows how to teach! Actually does teach! WOW!
Mr. Poller, whom I always referred to as Dr. Poller, is an awesome Professor. At the first class meeting, Mr. Poller encouraged the class to "open our minds and to think outside the box". I took this as a challenge and although nervous about the idea of 4 exams, I remained enrolled in his class and earned an "A". He is very inspiring & caring!
Mr.Poller is one of a select few teachers in my time at PHCC that truly cared. His lectures are insightful. If you have questions he is very helpful and does not treat any question like it is a dumb one. He makes you want to learn, and think outside your box. I just wish he taught more classes!
I took Mr.Poller for a 6 week term. He's a great teacher and is there to help you if you need it.He is very cultured and you learn alot by his expirences. I love it when he speaks spanish! Make sure you print his notes and study ALL of them. Test are very hard, if you don't study,YOU WILL NOT pass. I enjoyed this class alot and highly reccomend it.
I really enjoyed his class! He is a great teacher and very genuine!
He was the best teacher ever...so sweeet
This class is what a real collage class should be like.Never had an interest in philosophy but he makes you want to learn the subject. Is extremely fascinating, can be a bit intense and if you can be intimidated you will be.I felt challenged and excited which is something a class hasn?t done for me in some time.FYI your not alone and he does strut.
I never had a professor work so hard on making a class entertaining and interesting. He made you want to work hard yourself, so you would not disappoint him.
Very great teacher loves what he does understands peoples problems
Mr. Poller is easy to listen to and he is always willing to listen when ever you have a question.I highly recomend him for Ethics
Mr. Poller is by far one of the finest teachers anyboby could ask for. He is honest, invested, organized, caring and ok., he gets intense from time to time, but even then it is a wonderful learning experience.About 4 tests, a paper or two, attendance counts as part of the grades, and then you also have Poller Graces. Take the class and find out.
He is a great teacher! I looked forward to going to this class. Everything he taught was made crystal clear and made perfect sense. I highly recommend you take this class!
I took Mr. Poller for Applied Ethics, in a 6 week course. He is an amazing professor. Lecture was never boring, as he has plenty of stories. His tests are easy if you attend lecture and read the text. I wish I could take more of his classes.
I think everyone who needs Ethics should take this teacher. He is totally awesome and really cares. His class is not an easy class, but he makes it interesting and fun..Just need to go to all classes for a good grade
I really enjoyed Mr. Poller's Applied Ethics class. It was a lot of information in a short amount of time, but Mr. Poller made it interesting. I wish I could take more classes with him! Read the text, study the notes, attend class, and you'll do great! =)
Not only is he an exceptional professor but he is an exceptional human being! The class is interesting, informative and the instructions are straight-forward. I wish I could take more classes with him! Highly recommended :)
AWESOME! He has a great teaching method. I would love to take him again if i could!A very intresting msn.
Mr. Poller is a great teacher. I don't care for the controversy of Applied Ethics but he made it both fun and interesting. Very informative, if you give your all he is willing to help you succeed. Tests are difficult because of the language, but everything is straight from the notes. Highly Recommended for Applied Ethics.
Mr. Poller took what was - to me - a very boring subject and made it interesting. He wants you to succeed in the class and goes out of his way to ensure that you will. If you don't, then you probably did not take advantage of his "lifelines" - but you have to attend the class to hear them. :) Loved him and will highly recommend him.
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS! Do not pass the chance to be in this Applied Ethics class. Prof. Poller provides an outstanding learning environment while allowing for the open exchange of ideas. He truly motivates his students to find that they are more capable than the may think to achieve great things in life. It was an honor to be his student!
This class really opened my mind to new ideas and how things really work. Mr. Poller is a great teacher! His tests are very hard so pay close attention. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone!
Wow. I really enjoyed this class. I had him for Philosophy, and I loved it. He really loves what he teaches. And as long as you read what your suppose to you'll do great!
The staments below are true he is an trully awesome professor. I wish PHCC had more like him. A class that was a requirement for my degree turned out to be the best Wednesday night class of the week. Thank You Professor Poller sorry to see you go good luck up North.
I understood the lecture, read the book, but the tests were written in double and triple negative ?'s, so I never understood what the tests were asking, like a foreign language. Ultimately I dropped it for an online class somewhere else, which is working out great!!
Down to earth guy. very lineant with grades...hard to NOT get an A in his class.. just show up, listen to what he has to offer and do well on the test. cant get any better than that! We need more professors like him :)
He is an awesome professor who truly cares for his students learning. Easy A if you do show up, do the work (what little there is) and pay attention. Respect is his key, show it, and you do awesome.
Professor Poller is one of the best, if not the best, professor at Pasco-Hernando. His lectures are wonderful due to his personal stories and illustrations. Be prepared to learn and to be challenged not by the workload, but by the subject matter.
MUST sit up front, and ask comprehensive questions. Write down almost everything he says, and be respectful. Stay after for a couple mins if you can and get to know him a little better, he's very personable and always willing to help.
Mr. Poller is a great teacher. He makes his lectures very interesting by adding in personal experiences from his life. I wasn't expecting much from applied ethics, but this teacher changed my view on it. Class was fun, tests aren't hard if you do a little bit of studying, and he offers a good amount of extra credit.
Mr Poller is a fantastic professor! Show up & do the work. His lectures are interesting due to his personal touch. The language of the course is difficult, do the 20 min per day he asks for and you will do great.
An amazing Professor, interesting and as long as you pay attention, study and attend class you should do fine. He is one of the most interesting people i have ever met. never got bored during his lectures.
TAKE THIS CLASS. I looked forward coming to his class every Monday and Wednesday. He always makes sure everyone is on the same page. Tests are a little difficult, but if you study, you'll do find. Discussions are very interesting. I would recommend to anyone!
Professor Poller is an unbelievably great professor! He cares about his students, & he knows what he is talking about. The tests are difficult, but he grades based on points. I didn't be above a B on the tests, but he offers so much extra credit I didn't have to take the final because I'd already gotten an A in the class. TAKE HIM, YOU'LL LOVE IT!
I didn't think I was going to like this class, but he was a great professor, get an A before the last test and you'll be thankful;) Very helpful, if you ask questions and he knows his stuff. He is funny and has a lot of stories to tell (I have enjoyed everyone) great human being and teacher!
Favorite professor i've ever had. Very interesting. Great Stories
Topics were very interesting and Professor Poller really taught well. This class was informative and made you think critically. The test were a bit hard but if you study and do all the extra credits and essays, you should do well. He is one of my favorite professors. Wish more were like him at phcc
Poller makes class interesting and enjoyable. Time flies by. One test of your choice is open book/motes. This class is an easy A as long as you show up and do all extra cr4edit opportunities. Highly recommend this class.
He was a fabulous teacher who inspired you to think and examine your conscience. It was a great class and he really headed up some great discussions. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!!
Awesome teacher! I took his class online but I really wish I took it in person. His podcasts are enjoyable and very helpful regarding the material. He does a good job of making you really think about ethics. One of the best professors at PHCC, and I highly recommend taking his class. 10/10 would take again.
Class involves weekly lectures with a quiz and mini essay, then you're forever done with that material for the most part. Extremely easy, and he basically gives the answers to the essays in his lectures. Always let us out early too. Very interesting and bright man, obviously loves his job and helping students.
Great Professor, had alot of stories to tell that related with the class
Amazing teacher. Took class online, very thorough with podcasts, class lectures, and notes on chapters. Fun class to take and he makes the class fun with personal stories. Also, explains things clearly and relates the topics well if you have trouble understanding. Highly recommend.
Took class online, there are 13 essays and 13 quizzes. He grades vary hard on the essay's I'm a 4.0 student and I even had a hard time getting a 2 out 4 on the essay points. The quizzes are very hard too 10 questions in 30 mins but the questions are very hard and tricky. 50% for quiz and 50% for essay. and takes forever to email back...
I highly recommend this instructor! He explains this course very clearly and there are no surprises. I really enjoyed this class. I wish I would have taken the class on campus.
Professor Poller is such an amazing teacher and has the most interesting lectures. I would take him again!
Textbook was Michael Sandels JUSTICE and a weekly video of Dr. Sandels lectures from Harvard. All the material (textbook, Sandels lectures, outlines, and Prof. Poller lectures) helped me to become successful in the class. As long as you attend class (view podcasts), read and review notes you should be fine Exams are based on outlinesnotes
Easy class if you pay attention and take notes. 14 mini-exams and 14 mini-essays, not to hard to get an A. Great teacher overall.
Poller's class is amazing. His lectures are the most engaging I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The class is 13 mini-exams and 13 mini-essays which are taken online and this is all that's graded. The mini-essays are very easy and the mini-exams are slightly more challenging. Go to class and pay attention and you'll have an A.
Class was easy, you know what to expect. You take a quiz and do a short (200 word min) essay after every chapter. No final. The essays are easy, often opinions and answers can be found in notesvideos. The quizzes are fairly easy, sometimes questions can be tricky. His lectures are very interesting! Great class.
Loved the class and prof Poller. Interesting lectures mixed with personal stories. Tests are a little tough, but read the notes and watch the lectures and you should be ok. Essays are fairly easy, make sure you give him your 200 words.
Prof. Poller is a great teacher. He wants to make sure you do well, there are lots of lectures, podcasts, and videos to help. Tests are a little tough and there is a mini essay every week. Essays are pretty easy, but look over the notes for the quizzes. Points are out of 4, so there is not a lot of points to make up if you miss something.
Poller is a wonderful teacher! He's clear in what he wants and what he does with the class. You'll have a mini essay (200 words) and test online every week, but they're easy and he works with you. He also almost always lets out early
He's an amazing teacher. i wish i could take him again.. maybe i will if i need to take one of the courses he teaches!
Professor Poller is a great instructor. Firm but fair. Quizzes were challenging and forced you to understand the material. The essays were a great opportunity to reflect on the weekly lesson and put it into your own words. Great lecturer and very easy to follow along and stay interested.
If you do what he says to do (ex. watch videos more than once, take notes) you can make an A. He's clear about what he expects and the work is not unreasonable. The videos of his lectures really made the information become real to me, meanings clearer and the material stuck with me. I would definitely take another course taught by him!!
Poller is a great teacher! His class is super easy to pass as long as you do what you need to do. He has quizzes and 200 word essays every week based on the material he has up. Quizzes aren't that hard, nor are the essays. As long as you complete both every week, there shouldn't be a reason why you shouldn't pass. The material is very interesting.
He's very laid back when grading your free responses which made the class easier. He tells you in his videos what is important to remember for the tests
One of my favorite professors at PHSC, took him for two classes. Pay attention in class and you'll easily pass. He gives you most of the resources you need online. Don't be afraid to speak up in his class, he loves dialogue!
Great class. Great professor.
Class involves weekly lectures with a quiz and mini essay, then you're forever done with that material for the most part. Always let us out early too.
Mr. Poller is a great teacher. Very informative, if you give your all he is willing to help you succeed. Highly Recommended for Applied Ethics.
Professor Poller is a great professor, I would definitely take his class again. As long as you pay attention it's easy to pass.
Professor Poller is an amazing teacher! He's very laid back and pleasant with a knack for humor. When I took his class in 2014, we had to do a small paragraph over our interpretation of the content read in the book we used (only $7 at Books-A-Million). I absolutely loved his lectures and the book. Very interesting class. I highly recommend him!
There's been times when I forgot to submit an assignment even when I had it done but he listens to what you have to say and respects your honesty
Professor Poller was by far my favorite professor I've taken so far. This class is on the easy side but paying attention is still required. Besides, he makes it so interesting so paying attention is not even a problem. He makes this class super fun and very interactive. Do you need a book? NO. Don't waste your money like I did. Recommended class!
Essay and Quiz each week are mandatory, but relatively easy. He gives excellent feedback and is very inspirational.
Professor Poller is amazing! I highly recommend taking his class, I took him for Applied ethics and Intro to philosophy and passed both with easy A's. each week a 10 question quiz is due and a 200 word essay but they are super easy and he is easy on grading essays. He really cares about his students and makes learning fun! Really great professor!!
If you send Mr. Pollar an e-mail, he will respond to you in a timely manner. If I had questions, he always answered them fairly. He is very kind and cares about your feelings. It wasn't easy but if you read your notes, follow the lectures, and do well on your term paper, you will be fine.
Poller is probably one of the best professors at PHSC. Both online and on campus classes he posts his lectures so that if you miss his class, you still have the ability to understand the material. He was a super easy grader and a super easy professor.
I took the online Applied Ethics class. I'm glad I did it online and it was actually interesting, even in an online format. He responds to emails pretty fast, which is important for an online class. I know people who have taken him on campus and had nothing but good things to say about him. I have no complaints about the online class or about him.
This professor is the best!! I've taken 2 classes with him so far.. Ethics and philosophy of politics. I'm signed up for intro to philosophy in the fall. He's been my favorite professor at phsc and he's overall a very caring teacher. His lectures are amazing and he's a very fair grader. You have one quiz and one essay (200 words) a week. Very easy!
Professer Poller is very knowledgable in the topic of philosophy and his lectures are able to be related to real life, I took the online class for the convince and I found myself wishing I would have taken him in person! You will have a lot of reading and online quizzes but you will leave this class feeling like you actually learned something!!
I liked only having 1 paper. Didn't like all the quizzes but overall I felt successful in his class. Teacher is interesting.
Poller is great. He incorporates 4 points extra credit into the course at the beginning of the semester, which is helpful along the way. He gives us one online quiz a week, and are easy when working together, and using the given notes. He is very understanding on personal lives, and will mark you excused when needed.
Great lectures, very knowledgeable and entertaining. Weekly quizzes online just make sure to think outside the box. Would take more classes with Professor Poller. Highly recommended.
I would take him again in a heart beat. He makes class very interesting and has great stories to go along with the discussion. The material is slightly hard to remember but if you take notes or read the power points you'll be fine.
Poller is a good Prof. He responds to emails really fast which is important for an online class. Just 14 quizzes that are 10 questions, and one paper 1,000 words. Really an easy course. I like the notes he had online. Which that did help me be successful in this course.
Great professor and easy course. I learned a lot of things i never expected too. You had one big essay and then 10 quizzes over the course of the class.
Larry Poller was an awesome professor. I had him for applied ethics and every class was full of crazy stories and in depth lectures. He loves hearing different points of views, and encourages his students to stand for what they believe in. There were weekly quizzes in the class, and one paper due that was about an ethical issue in a movie.
Larry Poller was amazing. I love his lectures and everything he talks about is available online so if you miss class you'll be okay. He is a very understanding person and is willing to give second chances. One of the best professors ive ever had
Great teacher, he will give you plenty of feedback and help if you need it. The class however is all based off what you put into it. The class is based off tests and one term paper. if you read the material and watch the lectures you will pass.
Lectures are not necessary to pass the quizzes. There is only one paper, which is easy, it's your opinion on a movie you chose to watch. Quizzes can be a little bit tricky, which is definitely his intentions on them. He posts all his lecture notes and videos of himself giving the lecture on canvas, so you can skip class and still do well.
Class online consisted of a 10 question true/false quiz due at the end of each week. He gives you all the reading material, so no textbook. Just use the material and you will pass the quiz! There is 1 1000 word essay, he graded very fairly and easy, so not much to worry about. He gives you the chance to redo any quiz you want at the end of semester
Just finished his class. He gives all the material, no book required. There is class videos, links and notes he gives to help with the material. Easy, just read the material and pay attention to the questions and answers options in the quizzes; It can be tricky! loved his class, very interesting! only one 700-750 words essay about a movie.
I took his Ethics class online. There is one quiz a week, and if you watch the youtube lectures and read the notes there is no reason not to get an A. There is one paper he assigned over the semester with very clear grading criteria. Not a hard class at all.
best professor! hes so interesting to listen to and his personal stories he connects to the lesson is the best part. 100% would take him again
Amazing lectures (though they are heavy) they are thought provoking. I took his class online and can say this has been one of my favorite learning experiences. This semester was one writing assignment and 13 or 14 quizes that were 10 questions. You need to pay attention. If you skip or don't pay attention, it will reflect. Available by email.
Easy class, but not terribly interesting. Took it online and only skimmed lectures, so I can't attest much to Mr. Poller's teaching. But he seemed to really care about not only the students but the subject. And that's always a real plus for me.
One paper due and the rest of the assignments are quizzes. Quiz answers can be found in his lecture notes or online. He posts the lectures, but I never watched them I just used the notes. Paper is based on opinion and I got a 95. I would recommend watching "The Life of David Gale" in this course, it was a great movie. EASY PROFESSOR WOULD RETAKE!!
Another professor that gave lectures! His test are wordy and can trip you up if you do not read and fully understand the material. I liked not having to purchase a book, but man there were so much reading! Too much reading! Overall the class and professor were average! The subject I loved!
Professor Poller is really great. I took him for Applied Ethics. 1 weekly quiz, lectures are posted online, and 1 essay about an Ethical movie, which I threw together the night before and got a 96 on the essay. That's all the assignments. I recommend him if you need an Ethics credit
This old man has been through so much. Hes so caring &wise. During a pandemic- he is the only prof teaching on Wcampus except for classes that have to be taught on campus- welding, dental, cpr, nursing, radiology, &stats. YALL. He is so passionate about teaching. He posts video lectures. I took his class before pandemic &was amazed. Learned a lot
Mr. Poller is an amazing professor. I would definitely recommend taking Applied Ethics with him. His lectures are informational and entertaining, so you want to keep listening and participate in them. His grading system is very fair. If you pay attention and take notes, you will do very well in his classes.
Amazing! I took him for Applied Ethics online, there are 13 quizzes and 1 paper that is super easy!! I literally finished this class in a week and a half! Drops lowest quiz grade as well. I recommend taking him for just about anything! Overall enjoyable class and professional teacher. You would have to purposely fail in order not to pass!
I took his class completely online and finished in a week and a half, when I had 16 weeks to do it! There is a 10 question quiz a week that is not honorlocked. Very easy quizzes! One paper that counts as 1/3 of your grade, but it is easy to write! Great to take if your stressing about another hard class like A&P. Definitely recommend!
Had a 10 question quiz each week, and one easy term paper. Quizzes total 70% of the grade and paper is 30%. A lot of reading at times but he also provides outlines. I wish we had more zoom lectures during the week because he makes things interesting. He is hilarious! Know your stuff b4 the quiz since it's 10pts/question. He also held study groups!
Wonderful Professor with a passion for the things he teaches. As long as you review the attached coursework each week and watch the lectures you will easily pass this course. Assignments are fair and direct.
Very kind person. However, I took him online and it was not a great experience. His reading had a lot of grammatical errors and his recorded lectures had very poor audio/quality. I wish there was better studying material. I could tell his lectures in person would have been amazing though. I recommend taking him in person, not online.
Professor Poller is very nice and respectful. He has a lot of near misses stories to share. He repeated what to Lookout for on the test each time. It helps to really pay attention during lecture because he goes over several times what will show up on the weekly quizzes. He's easy to tall with. Really nice fella. I would certainly take him again.
Great professor, easy A class. Definitely recommend professor Poller for Applied Ethics.
I 100% recommend Professor Poller for applied ethics. He's one of the best professors I have had so far. The only homework you have is one quiz at the end of the lectures. And throughout the entire course you only have one short essay to write and he gives you an A if the essay question is answered and it does not have to be long at all.
This professor gave great lectures that were very inspiring and helped open my mind to a lot of ethical topics. Gave great resources to study from and was very respectful of all students if they needed help. Replaced final exam with an easy essay. Overall, he's a great professor that wants you to pass his class!
Whether it's stories about his old personal friend John Denver (yes he actually knew John Denver) or analogies about his time as an entrepreneur. Poller is amazing and his lectures are never dull. He is such a kind, passionate soul. He's lived a long time and he's ready to share his experience and wisdom with a new generation.
Super easy course, with one quiz every week and one short essay. Professor Poller loves teaching and his lectures are amazing. He is super understanding and caring of students, and easy to talk to. Lots of discussions in class to participate in.
This class was very enjoyable. The material Professor Poller had us watch and read were very interesting and helpful. There is quite a bit of reading, and the quizzes can be difficult. Although, I really learned a lot in this class because of the quizzes... take from that what you will. Just don't walk into this course expecting a super-easy A.
Amazing professor. 15 quizzes 1 opinionated paper. Communicate with him, he has many stories to tell.
If you have to take this class or applied ethics, TAKE HIS CLASS!! Love this professor, super nice and caring with his students. Easy class, the only grades are 15 quizzes, one paper, and attendance. He's had a lot of experiences in life and he loves sharing stories. If pay attention to his lectures, you should get an A. Would take it again!!
The reviews don't lie. Super friendly, and great lectures that covers the material with stories to relate to real life. He knows the material and is very liberal with grading and assignments in general. This is the best ethics/philo teacher you could take.
The class was okay and easy enough. It was originally an in person class, then it went to zoom then to all online halfway through the semester with no explanation. It felt like the lecture was definitely not needed for the quizzes, only the online material. Kind of feel jipped out of the experience of in person lecture.
Loved this professor! His lectures were interesting and the quizzes were based exactly on them! He only required one paper on an ethical movie and it was only required to be 500 words! I wish all professors were like him!
Engaging professor who makes ethics interesting with real-life examples. Easy grading system - weekly quizzes and a short essay. unstuckstudy was super helpful for quiz prep. Would definitely take this class again.
really easy A, just a 10 question quiz for each module and a 500 word essay. info in each module was really straightforward and the videos were super helpful, just make sure to turn in everything on time. zero complaints about this class!
