He does a really good job of teaching. I highly recommend taking any class he teaches as you will actually learn the material.
I had Larry for Calc I and basically am grateful for it. Without the firm understanding of the basics of Calculus, I would have been lost as many other students from other classes were. He's a great teacher. He's strict, but gets the job done and is more than helpful at explaining the topics. Thanks Larry! I definitely recommend Larry for Calc if you can get him. Most of his classes fill up first!
Mr. Schultz is the best math teacher in the world. I suck at math big time and failed this class before with someone else and failed previos classes too, but Mr. Schultz is SO clear and helpful, he went out of his way to help me out to make sure I understood everything. Take him, you wont regret it!
He is one of the better math teachers at UWM. For one he is american...kinda rare around here. He will also explain topics again if you do not get them the first time over. Takes time to go over homework, and really gives you a good idea for what is going to be on the tests/quizes to help you study.
let me make things clear about him... If in business school at masters level you want to learn high school maths, this guys is for you. If you know even a little bit maths you will sleep in this class. He has made the course so easy that you think you are understanding everything but in reality you learn even less than a 200 level class.
Kept what could be a difficult and boring class interesting and didn't try to trick anyone on the exams. He is very supportive and always willing to review things over and over until everyone is clear. This isn't an easy "A", but if you put the time into the class, you'll get an A. My favorite MBA class so far! I wish he still taught stats!
awesome teacher for calc 2, actually learn in that class and he explains everything crystal clear.
I took Schultz for math 106, the easiest math class I've ever taken. He goes on tangents a lot but sometime is funny and weird. He DID take attendance but didn't check homework for this course, but he does for others. There was a weekly test (could use textbook) and exams (could use textbook and notes) Don't sit in the front row; he spits.
VERY good teacher for Business Calc. Goes over fundamentals, then applies them. Very little useless knowledge. Easy to deal with and extremely helpful. Makes it easy to understand, distributes grades well, and no trickery on tests. He's the best math teacher I've ever had. HIGHLY recommended if you are not strong in Math. Great guy all around.
Probably the best math teacher I've ever had and also a funny guy. Extremely good at explaining the topics and making otherwise boring math work fun and challenging. The class is not an easy 'A', but a very rewarding challenge if you work hard. All around great professor!
Good teacher. Explains material well. Exams every 2 weeks. All homework for the semester counts as an additional exam grade. Unfortunately, the Final Exam is CUMULATIVE and rather difficult. It also counts as a large portion (30%) of your final grade.
He is a great professor, explains the calculus problems very well, gives review sheets for the exams, exams were easy. His lectures, jokes are interesting. Math211-spring09
The best math teacher I have had for Calc. He went in depth on every example and made sure he answered everybody's questions. Highly suggest Mr. Schultz as a teacher if you can.
Gets really off subject and tries to be your friend which I find annoying. I stopped going to lecture because I didn't learn anything and got a decent grade by just going to my discussion.
Larry is a great professor. Yes he tends to joke and get off subject, however he makes class fun and worth your $$. He is willing to help and his exams mimic the study guides. I'm not so good at math but put in the effort and managed to pull an A! He is a great person and very passionate about students succeeding!
Great! Sweet Jokes!
Amazing professor! He makes calculus really easy to understand. Lectures are optional but discussions are a must.
Dr Schultz is a great professor, he explains the concepts very well and gives review sheets before the exams. Math comes relatively easy to me but he makes the class very easy to understand, if you're someone who needs math explained to you he's the professor to have. Overall the best math Professor I've ever had
LOVE THIS PROFESSOR!!!
Larry is the best math teacher i've ever had by far. Stops lecture to answer questions is is very available after class
He is a very good teacher. He will answer any questions in class and or during office hours. He tells corny jokes to try and spice up the class. He tells the class exactly what is going to be the on quizzes each week. DO NOT MISS QUIZZES it will benefit you at the end of the semester. The homework load is enough to understand the material.
Good lecture teacher, Molly the discussion teacher was awesome
Had Calc 2 and 3 w him. I took his 3 even tho it meant driving 1.5hr for 1 class on fri. He is the best Math prof I've had by far. He actually cares whether his students get it. Do hw! You get credit & test ?s are close to hw. He goes over any hw ?s students have. I wish he taught more math;I'd pick my last math elective to be his class w/e it was.
This is the best math professor (possibly best professor) I have ever had. Math was never my thing, but he has instilled in me a love of calculus. I'm sure if I took math with a different professor I would not have the same feelings. He is so kind, respectful, and helpful. Very funny too! Hoping he teaches more of the math I need!
Definitely the best math professor I have had. Very thorough when he teaches, and will answer anything you don't quite understand. Also has corny jokes to keep the class light sometimes. I would definitely recommend him!
LOVED Larry! He was always very willing to go through any questions and was extremely funny. He kept a boring class (Business Calculus) interesting and I always enjoyed going to his class.
Loved this class. Such a nice guy. Was really helpful, even helped me with another math class. And his TA was awesome and HOT.
I like Larry as a person, but he is so obviously a grandpa. Collecting HW everyday? Making us solve problems in class? Making us talk to our neighbors and solve problems on the board? I'm not in HS anymore. I wish he taught it as a college course. Spends over halftime going over HW. Good if you need extra help, redundant for me.
Larry is the best, best math teacher by far. He explains very carefully and is great at explaining in an easy sense.
Professor Schultz made calculus see like 2nd grade math, if you do your homework and attend lecture AND discussion you'll ace this class. I strongly recommend him.
I was very unsure of calculus, but reading the reviews given on here reassured me to give it my all. I was always the type that struggled in math, and I ended up acing every test in this class. Larry is one of the best instructors I have ever had and not only does a superb job teaching, but gives excellent advise on how to succeed in life.
Besides his funny jokes, this guy is a great Calc. Professor. And this is coming from someone who barely passed 105! I've always struggled in Math, and now I'm not even putting much effort, and still doing well in his class!
Larry Shutlz is a great teacher. He is clear and WANTS the students to learn. He is always willing to go out of his way to help a student. i took 105 and 110 with him and after each of them i actually liked math. Larry is the bomb! best calc teacher at uwm!
He does really helpful examples and makes calculus super easy to understand. He also likes to make jokes so you can tell he is more laid back and always willing to help.
He is an awesome teacher who helps students to succeed in his class. I would recommend everybody to take classes with him.
Makes Calculus about as easy as you can make it. There are A LOT of review, so the exams for me were pretty easy. His jokes are so corny they are funny. Overall great teacher and the TA's were great too!
Easily my favorite class at UWM so far. Larry gets the class involved and has fun with it. Manditory homework but truely just free points. Highly recomend taking a class with Larry.
He's a nice man who really wants students to succeed. However, his lectures covered waaay too many concepts at once. He really didn't go slower in lectures for people like me who have trouble in Math. Also, I had a lot of issues with his TAs and absolutely dreaded the weekly quizzes they gave out. I like him but regret taking his discussion course.
Larry is awesome. Super cool guy, funny, goes out of his way to help you. Holds lots of review sessions in addition to the in class ones. Highly recommend him. Best professor I've had at UWM.
Hands down, favorite teacher at UWM! He is genuinely such a nice guy who really cares about your success in school. SO willing to help and explains things perfectly. He gets so excited about math and is pretty funny! I'm not good at math but he makes it easy. I'm taking him again for 211!
Awesome teacher! Always has funny stories and keeps a boring subject entertaining during lectures. SUPER CLEAR and easy to follow. Tests exactly like study guides. Take Prof Schultz for any math you can! Only bad thing I can say are is jokes are pretty dopey, but still funny
Great Teacher, but unfortunately some of the TAs grading is much stricter than other TAs. Dr Schultz does not grade any of the quizzes or exams, so if you have a tough grading TA good luck! Let alone half of them hardly speak understandable english.
Attend lectures, do the assigned homework (which he has his TA's check for completion), and the rest should follow. He is very clear and always willing to help.
Prof Schultz is great! He is very caring about the students success. After every lecture he makes the handwritten notes available. He encourages you to take a pic with your phone. He tells corny jokes, but it lightens the mood. Take Prof Schultz for any Math. He is very knowledgable and a great teacher. Homework is graded for completion not correct
If you have a life outside college, like a job and bills, dont even bother with this course. Lectures cover way too much at once he just stands up there and flies through it since hes a genius and the TAs are terrible. 2 HW a week 20-40 probs a piece.Just not realistic for people who have things to do. Also be ready to memorize every rule in book.
Professor Schultz is the best math instructor I've ever had. Although the course goes through a lot of material, he covers it all in a way that is understandable and manageable. The TAs grade the tests and HW and depending on which TA you get, HW might be graded either for completion or for correctness. I recommend professor Schultz for Math211.
Was hands down the best professor I have ever had in college. Would give review sheets for exams which were very similar to what would be on exam. Wants students to succeed, and was always willing to do anything that he could to help you out. Definetely recommend taking him.
Easily the best professor I've had. He went over things very thoroughly, was enthusiastic about teaching, and has an all around good personality. He helped me learn to love Math again.
I loved Professor Schultz. I took this class my first semester as a freshmen, so I was quite nervous about lectures, but he was very clear and helpful. His dry humor made my day, not to mention he would put a joke on the overhead before each class. Overall, he's a great guy who loves what he's doing.
PRof. Schultz was hilarious and always interesting. Math can be pretty dull but he was the type of professor where you didn't want to not pay attention because you might miss his jokes. He is very sweet and will always do his best to help anyone.
I always looked forward to his classes! I never took Calc, and I am a junior. He explains everything in class! Attendance isn't mandatory but it helped!
Professor Schultz was possibly one of the best professors I have had at UWM. He explains calc clearly and thoroughly while keeping your attention through jokes and personal stories. He is dedicated to his students and wants to make sure everyone understands math-a subject not many people can enjoy.
One of the best professors I have ever had. I have always struggled with math but his lectures are clear, and you can just tell that he truly wants every student in his class to do well. He usually starts the class off with a little joke or funny story to lighten the mood.
One of the best professors I have had in college going on 4 years. He is extremely helpful and clear. There is no attendance in lecture only in discussion but I recommend going because his notes are a thousand times better than anything you'll find in the book.
He is very easy, however, he most of the time runs on a tangent by telling jokes and stories and rushes the material/lecture . Overall he is a great and passionate teacher. The only negative thing is that he is a lefty so copying down the notes is hard when his hand covers the screen.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR!! I normally dread math and can fall behind easily. But Prof. Schultz explained everything so perfectly, I had absolutely no trouble at all! Aced every single test. Just go to the lectures because that's where the real learning happens. Discussions are not always enough and not always clear.
He gives you everything you need to get an A but you have to put in the work outside of class. Miss the lectures and you miss the content which the discussion TAs don't always cover.
Probably one of the most passionate teachers I've ever had. He'll do anything in his power for everyone to pass and even tries to learn all of his students names. The TA's are really good but word of warning: prepare for the final exam because that is the only exam that the TA's DO NOT write.
Mr. Schultz is very helpful and willing to help students to the best of his ability. Attend Friday reviews, do your assignments and review worksheets, and show up to class and you'll get an A easily.
I don't like math, nor am I good at it, but I loved Larry's class. He is so nice and helpful and really cares about his students. It's still pretty tough, at least for me, but if you put in the work and effort, you'll do fine. I wouldn't suggest missing a lecture. Just do the work and study. I wish I had Larry for every class, he is that awesome!
Larry is the man. Really funny guy. Motivates you to do well. Just an awesome professor.
Larry Shultz is by far the best professor I had at UWM. I took both Math 205 and 211 with him and I have been able to receive an A in both of his classes. He makes the content very easy to understand and is willing to help you if you're having troubles. He's always in a good mood and tells cheesy jokes during lectures to make math more tolerable.
Best professor at UWM. Nothing more needs to be said.
Larry is easily the best professor ive had so far at UWM. He genuinely cares about his students understanding the content and doing well. He makes jokes that are incredibly cheesy but he is a pretty funny guy. A lot of students have to take 211 and he does a really good job at teaching it.
Larry is a great guy. If you're not really a math person but have to take one for requirements, don't bother taking it with anyone else. He wants all of his students to do well! Do not skip lecture, being there is worth every moment. Cheesy jokes and very useful explanations and great notes.
Absolutely great professor. He makes math so much easier and fun. I wish that he could be my professor for every class.
Be willing to listen, show up to class, and do your homework and I guarantee you an A. He is super willing to help as much as possible. Pretty much wish he was my grandpa.
Probably the nicest teacher you will encounter in college. Lowest exam gets tossed. Every exam has an in-class review day and an additional Friday review that is optional. If you go to class and the extra review there is no reason not to get A's on everything. Watch out for some cheesy jokes. Also, discussion attendance is 10% of your final grade.
Don't be a fool, TAKE HIS CLASS! Larry is as amazing as everyone says he is!
He's a great teacher and wants all his students to succeed, He's a great guy!
Larry is the best math professor i have ever had. He makes subjects very simple to understand and walks through many examples in class. He basically tells you exactly what to expect on every exam, so as long as you follow along and understand, you can get A's with only a few hours of study. Larry also really cares about his students and is funny.
Best math professor I've ever had. Take him if you can!
He is an excellent professor. His lectures show how knowledgeable and passionate he is for the material and the students. There is a lot of material so after the first exam, lectures are fast-paced. However, he does allow people to ask questions and take pictures of the notes after class.
Larry is awesome. He's funny, knowledgeable, and tries to make calculus easy. He's a genuine guy and I would recommend him. Beware he will talk about his new corvette a lot. He's very proud of it.
Professor Schultz is an amazing math teacher. He's goofy, which makes the class go by fast. He definitely wants everyone to do well in his classes! If you come to class and do his review sessions, you'll definitely get an A in the class. He's very easy to learn from.
Great teacher and he really does care about his students. Tells lots of storys and dad jokes but overall, great prof with good morale for students
Best professor I've had at UWM (and I've had a lot). Assigns and checks homework for completion --> DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Show up to class. He goes over the exam materials one by one before the test. He gets to know his students, which is unique for a UWM professor. Gives lots of chances for success; just talk to him if you're struggling.
Excellent teacher. Perfect example of how to lead a classroom and teach your students. He will admit when he cannot cover material, which may seem problematic, but what he goes over, he does to almost perfection. Step by step, explains what to do, and shows you how to do it. Making it much easier to learn what he misses. DO YOUR HOMEWORK
Best teacher I've ever had at UWM. I came into this class not being the best at math, but the way Larry taught the class I was able to end up with and A. Do your homework and put some effort in and you will do great. He sets you up for success. Also, he has the best jokes :)
Professor Schultz is hands down the best professor I've had at UWM, his lectures are so much more helpful than discussion. He really makes calculus lecture fun, and presents the material in a very understandable way, I thoroughly enjoyed his course.
Schultz makes this class really easy. Attend lecture and you'll know everything you need for quizzes and exams. He makes little jokes throughout lecture or relatable explanations for understanding problems. Honestly, I thought the homework was harder than what was on any of the quizzes or exams
I love this man, he is a genius, he is kind, and he makes calculus fun to do. He's one of those people you only want to do right by
Professor Schultz is awesome! He explains things so thoroughly. The homework is really difficult but honestly I just focused on his exam reviews and did well on the tests.
