this professor knows his stuff. he revives the dullness of monotonous computations with input from the class and some of his examples. verry fun yet challenging so one can master the material

He tries hard to keep the students interest. The material is not hard, but it is recommended that you go to class and pay attention. He allows you to bring notes and books to the exam. The only complaint I have about him is that he takes teh entire 3 hours of class to teach two problems.

Make sure you take good notes when he does class problems. I think he skipped the stuff on the test that wasn't covered in class. He lets you use the notes on the test. You get 10% of grade just for showing up. midterm is 40%, final is 50%. He lobs a few softball questions in each test also. I made an A; you will too if you do the homework.

Excellent professor. Very clear in his teaching. Make sure you take great notes and do ALL his hw or else your grade will really suffer. I really enjoyed his real life examples. He tries to throw you off in the tests by asking for things in different ways than what he teaches in class. Tough teacher, but you learn alot!

Unless you have this teacher, you will not know what it means to be a clear communicator. Professor Smith is well educated and experienced. What sets him apart from most teachers is his ability to communicate effectively. Listening and watching him lecture will give you the opportunity to learn how people should communicate in society.

Class topic is generally boring, but he makes it easy to understand. Goes off in tangents, and class can get boring, but he fills in time by doing magic tricks that are great. Exams aren't too hard, you just have to read...not a class for lazy people!

He's a good professor. Don't get my wrong. However, he only gives 2 exams; a midterm and a final. He'd let use your notes for the exam, which means the exams are really hard. Overall, I don't recomment him for statistics. If you have no choice, pick him, otherwise, take the class with somebody else.

This is an excellent professor. He gets the class involved and intrested. He speaks clearly and doesn't move on to another topic until everyone understands. He is also a pretty good magician but no David Copperfield.

Time flies in his class. He makes statistics fun and explains the material very clearly. There are 2 open book exams (I have him in Summer A), and you can't depend on in-class time to get you through. Doing the homework is a must. He does magic tricks every class as well.

a math type class like QMB3200 go to his class, know the material, because there is only 1 midterm and 1 final and nothing else. not alot of material to study, learn it more or less and you will be fine. learn the definitions by heart because you cant use the book on that section of the test, but on the math stuff you can.

He is great. I have always struggled with math and my previous math professors sucked. He is very clear and doesn't confuse me. I actually got a 100% on the midterm and I have never got a 100% before! I would almost go as far as saying that he makes me enjoy coming to a math class.

Great Teacher. No reason why people can't get an A. However, He should give more tests or quizes. 2 tests only; so they weight a lot (too much). The professor is a great guy. The material that he teaches in class is not worded the same way it appears on the test.The test are definitely not easy. You have to study and have prior knowledge on the subject in order to do well.

This professor is wonderful. He is very smart and wants everyone to enjoy learning in the course. His exams are the same as the material reviewed in class. Very, very good instructor!!

Well I got an A in both Operations Management and Stats without cheating. If you can't do well in those classes with this professor, you can't do well in those classes, period. The class moves very slowly, and he explains everything a hundred times. His exam questions do make you think, but they are just like the problems he does on the board.

His tests are exactly like the practice problems he gives you. The exams are open book and open note and there is a big curve. Anyone saying it is hard obviously didn't prepare beforehand or listen in class. Just go to class, take notes, do the hand out he gives you, and you will get an A.

Not a difficult course if you open the book, understand the concepts, and complete all the handouts given in the class. You are able to use your book and notes for each exam; however, the exams are difficult and not easy to pass without prior preparation. Time must be invested in order to receive a good grade. Magic tricks are a plus as well.

Many who don't attend the class on a regular basis love to make up excuses for why they fail; however, professor Smith is very caring & helpful and truly wants his students to understand the material. If you attend class, pay attention during lectures and study on your own, you should have no problem succeeding in this course.

You'll like him before the 1st midterm;he does lots of magic tricks;solves a lot of problems in the class. All exams are open book/notes - this is helpful part. Out of about 240 ppl about 15 got an A on the first exam.Lots and lots of drop outs and many failed this class at the end.Nice guy-hard class-no opportunity for extra credit=dangerous

Very good professor! Breaks down complicated material very well in class (much needed with the current textbook). Does magic tricks to break up the monotony of Statistics. Has a great, dry sense of humor. I found myself laughing at loud often in his class. Positively cares about his students. Everything a professor should be.

Kind and helpful. Can linger off topic and makes class worth staying with magic tricks. Tests are open book & note but not worded accurate to study material beware. Final is cumulative and tests are curved. Will give extra credit for rating magic tricks but does not admit it. Get there early to sit in the front, trust me it helps.

the class and material are not hard but the exams are!! make sure to practice from the handout he gives out. the book i not that helpful.. i wouldnt recommend to buy it. the material is interesting, he is not! i would definitely recommend everyone to take this him!! he curves.. His teaching methodology is not my favorite, however the class is fairly easy. The book is useless, but you just need to go to class pay attention and take two exams. Not time consuming like other classes. If you pay attention and understand the material you will A for sure ;)

The only negative regarding his class is that attendance in mandatory and he has a monotone voice and the dry material does not help keep you awake. However, he's a very fair professor and the tests are more than fair. Half of the mid-term as well as final are open book (the numbers based part) and the theory questions are closed book.

Great Professor. Explains the material and makes sure everyone understands. Allows notes to both exam. Do the problem sets he assigns and it should be an easy A. does a different Magic trick every class which are very good. I totally recommend him

The class is not easy. You definitely have to study the definitions and formulas in order to pass his exams. Stay focused and you should manage a good grade. His magic tricks are a bonus.

TAKE QMB3200 with Larry Smith!!!! you will understand the subject and pass the class. go to every single class and you'll get an A. I didnt go to all the classes, and got a B.

Class is not difficult if you work for it. Do the practice set! Go to class and ask questions. Attendance is mandatory so you might as well go. Professor is not hard and very fair and explains well. Not A difficult class if you study. Just don't expect to get an A if you don't study or go to class.

Good professor, he knows his stuff and will help anyone with any questions. Not that its an reflection on his abilities, but he is also a nice guy. I would definitely recommend him to tohers.

The professor is great. If you miss class though you will be lost. Just pay attention. The book sometimes has conflicting ways of dong things so be careful if you do miss class and pay attention to only the book. Overall though it's a good class.

His class is not hard but you need to study the examples he gives in class and read the book. The exams are not hard just long so you need to know the materials beforehand. Attendance is mandatory. He is very nice and wants his students to do well in his class. My only complain is that he NEVER answers emails and doesn't have office hours.

So its easy to do very well or do very bad if you get lazy, miss class, use your laptop during class, or don't pay attention. Just come to class, understand what he's doing, do the review packet, look at the solved problems in the text, and you'll be fine. ONLY what he covers in class is on the exam! Go to every class, its boring, but just do it!

Professor Smith is one of the best professors I've taken at FIU. He is very clear in his lectures and is open to answering any questions. Attendance is mandatory but he makes attending a 2+ hour class somehow enjoyable. He lets you use the textbook and notes for half of both exams. Obviously you still need to study if you want the grade you deserve

Great Professor, everything you need to know for the exams he give to you in his class lectures. I never opened the book and got an A in the class, 100 on both midterm and final. There are only those two exams, as long as you go to class and take notes you will pass the class. He also always willing to talk to you after class and explain anything.

Prof Smith is a great professor. Class is interesting and if you go to class and pay attention to what he does on the board, you will have an A. He gives lots of extra credit. Exams are long (math part) but really easy if you pay attention in class and they are open book. Conceptual part on exams: really, really easy. Take him,You won't regret it!

Professor was great. Has a lot of real world experience with over 50 MNE's. Class was easy to follow, he goes over all the material in class. Tests are very straightforward. By far the greatest prestidigitator in all of FIU. I highly recommend!!!

Class was tough and tests were tough, however not unreasonable. Smith emphasizes that his tests are not to trick you but to test your understanding, and they do just that. Course is difficult, but do-able, and Mr. Smith, unike a lot of teachers at FIU actually TEACHES and he is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Would recommend.

Professor Smith is a great prefessor. I took him both for QMB3200 (A) and MAN 4504 (B+). Yes, his tests are long and the math part can be sometimes difficult but they are nothing out of this world. If you go to class and study you should get a good grade. His magic tricks are fun also. I highly recommend him.You will learn and get your moneys worth

Recommend Recommend Recommend!! There are two exams with two parts. First part is without your notes on key terms but the second part is open notes which help tremendously with the formulas. Almost everyone received an A or a B. He is a very nice guy and tries to help as much as possible. Do take!

Great professor! Only two tests, 40% midterm and 50% final + 10% attendance. He is really helpful and funny. Do your homework and you'll get an A!

Highly recommend!Two exams that has 2 parts. First part is you created and you get 5 extra credit point, second part is open book (just simple math, you’ll get it if you listen to class). You also have 5%curve. Test's not that long because there are lot of “as same as previous one”. So, almost everyone received an A or a B. It’s an easy A class.

Very clear, nice voice and a great magician

He is definitely a must take professor! Subject material might not be interesting but his magic tricks and personality makes it fun. All you need to do is take notes in class and do the assigned hw and you will get an A on the midterm and final exam. I took him in QMB and got an A in that class as well.

He's a little hard to understand sometimes, but he's a great teacher. Also, your grade is based off of two test and 10% for attendance. Thats it. The tests are a little stressful, but not too difficult.

Great professor, I enjoyed his class. I am a finance major and find management classes to be quite boring and take them just because I have to but this guy keeps you somewhat interested in the class. 10% of grade does count as attendance and the rest consists of the mid-term and final. Final is cumulative

I recommend this class. One midterm and 1 final with 2 extra credit assignments. The material is not easy but part of the exams are open book . If you study you will do fine. Very good professor and very nice .

Great magician!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS COURSE!! He makes everything easily understandable,is a natural comedian, and performs magic tricks! Sitting in the back of a class filled with over 100 students, I was still engaged in the lessons every class. I don't think he's going to teach anymore, but if he does I HIGHLY RECOMEND ANY OF HIS COURSES!

this class is one of those that if you fairly study, you will get an A. The professor is great! very funny, helpful and a excellent magician. Only 2 exams and 2 extra credit assignment. highly recommended

I'll give it to you straight. Very boring. Tough if you dont attend class or pay attention. Just try and get over his boring tone. Solid teacher though overall.
