He has an accent, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Lectures are very clear and provides review sheets that are fairly similar to tests. Goes above and beyond when it comes to making time for extra help and office hours. Great professor.
He is very willing to help students and makes himself as available as he can - he even e-mails the class if he won't be able to make his office hours. He gives review sheets before each test which are very helpful - I found that if I did the review sheets, the tests were pretty easy to do well on.
Great professor. Sometimes hard to understand because of his accent, but his tests are fairly easy. Tests follow the review sheets he gives before every exam. Gives partial credit on all exams.
His accent dosent get in the way of his teaching ability, he is willing to help and he is always there when you need him. plus he geniunely cares about ALL of his students. . .he is definitely what a college professor is supposed to be!!! TAKE HIM!
He is a great Teacher, gives review test before the test that are very similar to the real test. Has an accent that is sometimes hard to understand. Cares about students, takes attendence, but expressed care for grades and personal situations
GREAT professor! A little hard to understand but that doesn't get in the way of his ability to teach so well. He is extremely clear on when quizes and exams are and the reviews he posts online and brings a copy to class are VERY similar to his tests. TAKE THIS GUY! VERY clear notes + examples!
Great teacher. Explans things very well and the test are not hard. go to all the classes and you will get an A
this guy is a top notch teacher. he does a great job of explaining things, and has no problem with taking a bit of extra time to make sure everyone understands. he starts each class with a brief review of the previous class, so you're not screwed if you have to miss a day of class. A+.
Excellent teacher, explains thing very well. Will take the time to help you. Go to class and do the homework no problem. Wished he teached Calc. 2. Good guy, wants everyone to get an A.
Extremely easy teacher. Just copy the notes he writes on the board and you'll do fine. Hard to understand him first couple of days. Gives review before quizzes and tests. Trust me take him you won't regret it.
Above average math teacher. I wouldn't say he's easy, but he's definitely fair (won't intentionally trip you up on tests) and is always willing to answer questions.
good guy helps you when you have a question make sure to do good on his tests whihc by the way arent that hard, and you will do fine in the class, he gives you a review sheet before evey test so make sure you look at it
awesome professor. gives review sheets and answers questions before exams, is available for students, and spends time to clarify things. slight accent but i didn't have any trouble understanding him. i'd take him again, if i needed more math.
he is oriental, with a slight accent but gives credit on everything even if you rewrite the problem.
This guy makes math learnable...even the really hard math. Any time you don't understand something he will explain it to you as many times as it takes for you to learn it. It is great that he gives reviews before tests and quizes and always answers any homework questions before moving to the next section...If math isn't your best subject..take him!
wonderful professor took him for every math i had to take. Once you figure out his accent the class is VERY easy. actually knows how to teach and make all math very easy. Reviews are practically the tests.
He is the best Math professor at SPSU, I would recommend him for Precalc. but I heard all the other classes are easy too. His class was very easy once you get to understand his accent. HE IS JUST THE BEST!!!
This guy is great. A little hard to understand the accent but other than that he's great. He explains things very clearly and is sometimes funny.
Great teacher knows the material & is good at explaining it if you dont understand he also gives credit just for attendance. Highly recommended
Great teacher. Do not need to do the homework, just study the reviews for the quizes and tests and you will do fine. Also gives points for attendance. The review for the final was basically the FINAL! Take this professor for any math.
Great professor! Take him for any math. Nice guy, just know the review questions he passes out before the test and I guarantee youll make an A.
I took Calculus last semester with Edwards, and I ended up dropping him. Heard GREAT things about this teacher, and people were right. He is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful to students, and really wants kids to learn Calculus. PLEASE TAKE HIM FOR ANY MATH THAT YOU CAN!
Dr Wang has a heavy accent, but it is not hard to understand. He makes calculus understandable to those without prior knowledge. Sometimes he's funny when he compares calculus to real-life events, and is always there to help. The workload isn't hard, and the reviews help greatly for the exams. The final exam is much, much harder than the exams.
Take him! He's the best math teacher at SPSU! The review problems are just like the exams. He also explains everything step by step and he doesn't collect homework.
Wang is great! Although his accent may be a challenge for some, Wang's willingness to work out every hw and test problem that you need help on is beyond par. He'll spend an entire class period trying to convey a concept if you don't understand it. Doesn't take up hw, but uses some of them as extra credit problems. He awesome! TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN
Super easy. fair grader. decent lectures. easy class in general. accent sometimes hard to understand. wish i still had him as a prof.
This guy means well and is very friendly. However, speaking English should be a requirement to teach school. Working the study guide for tests definately gives you an advantage. Hopefully your a genius in Calc or you have a good translator to understand him.
Wang was really good its just you have to get past his accent. He gives you homework(5-10 problems) for every test period and its an easy way to boost your grades and his test are very fair. Just make sure you come to class or you will get called out for asking a question he went over when you weren't there! lol.
He's a really good teacher. His class isn't to hard to pass you just have to try to understand Calculus
He's a really good teacher. His class isn't to hard to pass you just have to try to understand Calculus. I meant to put useful the first time
Really great analogies! awesome prof. take him!!
Wang is by far the best math professor at SPSU.He is hilarious too. Do the review sheets and you will ace the test. Don't be arrogant and pay attention in class though, b/c he will call you out and make you look like a fool. "Does there seem to be troubles with your cell phone or are you just that smart" he will say.
I think he is great professor!! Can really teach you Calculus. Of course you have to put the time and effort into learning it. Showing up to class is always a good idea. His tests are what he teaches you in class. Doesnt try to trick you on tests, very fair.I highly recommend him. Reviews material in the beginning of classs from the previous class
AWESOME!
AWESOME!The key to his class is to attend class and take notes. Everything on the test is on the board and then on the review sheets. Tests were very straightforward, fair, and easy - nothing you havent seen before.
Big language barrier. Make sure you have an excellent command on your PreCal knowledge, because he refuses to cover what you should already know. Do all the homework and the review problems and you should be fine. But if you can't understand accents, do NOT take this professor.
Good teacher once you get used to the thick accent. He gives a review sheet for every test and they relate directly to what is on the test. If you know what's on the sheet you will pass the test. He also lets you drop one test grade.
Great professor, accent barrier...Teaches well, but as most have said, his accent is a bit hard to look past... initially. If you cannot tolerate language like that, forget his class but with time like myself, you may adapt fine. He likes to go a bit into history, like why the formulas came about, but no biggie. great prof, just beware of accent.
The language barrier is very hard. He also has rude comments that he makes in class...ie..Why you do not know the material? I guess you no take class seriously. What kind of comment is that?
Took him for summer class. Makes rude comments like even if you talking to yourself he will think u talking to someone and will call you out. Accent can be hard to get. Takes attendance. He will make a joke and if you laugh he will call you out. He also doesnt let you leave early and will ask you why you leaving infront of class.
If yo do not pass this man's class its because you didn't want to!
Very helpful. If you fell his class it's because you choose not to pay attention
What can I say Wang is the man. The absolute best math professor I have taken at SPSU.
Wang made a difficult subject easy, and you only need a basic understanding of each concept to pass his tests. If you actually do the homework, it is an easy A. He is also a good artist, which is good because Multivariable Calc is a lot easier when you understand what each concept looks like geometrically.
Great professor. He teaches you everything that will be on his exams. Sometimes he is a little hard to understand, but don't worry. Just write down all of the notes and you will be fine. Also, if he sees that the class isn't doing homework, he will call random students out to do examples on the board. So do the homework! I recommend Professor Wang!
Wang's accent is thick but his English is good. Great at keeping things simple and straight forward. Writes notes in chalk which gives one time to write one's own notes. Reviews at the beginning of every class. Gives quizzes for a little points and exams that use same questions but a little longer. Highly Recommend. listen and study quizzes.
Wang was a great professor. Tests were basically longer quizzes and quizzes were easy questions from the homework. He had a very thick accent at first but I learned to deal with it as the semester went on. Not very clear at understanding questions you may ask and online HW is a pain, but there's not too many assignments so no big deal. Take Him!!!
Helpful in Calc but not in Linear. You must completely teach yourself (I taught myself with Chegg; got an A). He DOES NOT teach you how to do HW. He is a lazy teacher and only reads off of PP slides in class. He does give extra credit (since so many ppl do terribly in his class). He chuckles if you ask a question that he thinks you should know
His accent isn't hard to understand, you get used to it after about 10 minutes. Assigns a couple of mandatory homework assignments that can be slightly frustrating but aren't worth much credit. Quizzes aren't tough and the tests are just longer versions of the quizzes. Explains the concepts clearly and thoroughly. Practice and get an A, simple.
I took this online and I had to hire a tutor to actually teach me. Professor Wang does not teach, only posts notes and power points from the book and then you are completely on your own. He does not respond to email & only sent a welcome. Completely dependent upon the tutor, YouTube and MathLab. If you are not strong in math, don't take him.
Had him for Real Analysis II. He's great at math but I didn't feel I learned much from Dr. Wang himself, but rather from reading on my own time. Lectures have a lot of material, but are pretty dull - it's basically just him repeating the book and being really cynical (which is hilarious). He's pretty good about giving partial credit on tests.
Took his online class over the summer and it was a mistake. This math class is not meant to be taken online. Take in class to earn half-credit for points and not let the MyMathLab mark you wrong for switching one + or - sign. Professor did not reply to student emails & just posted Power Points from the textbook only. Would not recommend
I took this class as a online summer class. Having used MyMathlab before and doing really well in math 1101. The problem with this class is the chapters didn't match up with the test. So stuff you learned in chapter 1 for the first test wasn't tested till the 3rd test. I would not tell to anyone.
Larry Wang is very intelligent and knowledgeable on the subject matter. He somewhat comes off condescending when people go to board to try examples but I do think he means it that way. Seems to offer extra credit here and there and hates when people do not participate or pay attention in class.
kind of difficult to understand at times, but not a bad class. not difficult subject matter but do the online stuff.
I took this class online. I was really worried about taking Calculus, but Professor Wang made the content easy to understand. There is a bit of a language barrier at times, but that never got in a way of my learning. I highly recommend taking Dr. Wang if you are worried about Calculus or taking an upper-level math class.
I didn't use the book at all, but I had a tutor. If it wasn't for the tutor I'm not sure I would have passed. I could have made an A, but I kind of stopped caring towards the end, so I finished with a high B. Homework every week. It takes a while. He pushes due dates back a lot; is super understanding in that aspect. Replies to almost all emails.
For online math1160 we used mymathlab. Overall his class was great and you would have one homework assignment a week and then either a quiz or a test every other week. Often he would extend the due dates. Multiple attempts on all assignments made this class easy. Would recommend to anyone willing to study. Final exam was in class.
All work was done on MyMathLab and included 2 homeworks/week plus a quiz. Tests were every other week. He often extended the deadlines. He gives 3+ attempts on every assignment so it's hard not to make an A in this class and I took it over the summer so it was a lot of work.
I have Wang for Linear Algebra and I could not have chosen a better professor. He presents the material clearly and is not afraid to go out of his way to help his students. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS. He does take role, so show up to class and stay involved. Drops lowest quiz and lowest test (including the final)
He is a good professor but his accent is very thick and hard to understand. Well, for me anyway. He is a very fair grader and is always open to questions and further explaining things. It's just his accent that made it very difficult to pay attention to him.
Took him for Calc 3. The dude is pretty easy going and chill, though he does make some shady comments if you ask a question, lol. One thing I would like to mention is, the study guides he gives are 10x harder than his actual tests, so if you solve each problem there, you'll be overprepared. He does have a thick accent, but you get used to it.
His tests are straight forward and similar to reviews. The review has harder problems than the test. Test problems test if you can solve basic concepts really. He asks if anyone has questions before he starts new lessons almost every time. He also cares to learn everyone's names too which is nice.
Got an A only because I met with a tutor twice a week and really worked for it. All assignments in MyMathLab you never hear from professor-if you reach out you get a 1 word response. Two (long & hard) 25 question HW's every week. 5 quizzes total, 3 tests total, & a final exam. No extra credit. No lectures. Teach yourself & the material is hard.
Everything is via MyMathLab, but ask to make sure overall grade is accurate. He gives multiple attempts on assignments. Grade in MML was incorrect the entire semester until he fixed it 2 weeks before final. Textbook & D2L modules weren't needed, but helpful if stuck. Online resources with step by step examples are encouraged bc itll save you time.
I think I heard from him two times during my entire online semester. Every single quiz and homework and test was within Pearson. He doesnt care if you learn or the grade you get. Not horribly hard but its tedious and you dont learn.
Best online professor I've had: regular emails and alerts telling us what's due and when each week were nice. Otherwise, I did not interact with him and did everything via Pearson. I had multiple attempts for each problem, quiz, and even exam which really helped because otherwise I would have had a tough time with this calc course.
He tells you what you need to know, everything beyond that is on you. TONS of quizzes and exams, and the homework takes forever, though with multiple attempts, 100s are easy on those. His accent is somewhat hard to understand through a mask, but I got used to it after a few weeks. If you take exams on your laptop, you get 3 attempts. DO THAT.
He gives weekly homework practice that can take a while sometimes, but you get unlimited attempts until you get the correct answer and it is easy to get 100s if you take the time to do it. The practice worksheets he sends us are exactly what you will see on the quizzes and tests. Ask questions if you need help. Daniel Garrison is a great SI.
Linear Algebra is a hard subject and it was really hard to learn from his lectures. There were barely any examples and that is integral to learning math. The saving grace is MyLab. All the HW was on MyLab and the Quizzes were formatted the exact same as the HW. This is also true for Exams. Best part, you have three attempts for quizzes and exams.
Very good lectures, as long as you show up and do your homework you will do very well in the class.
Responds to emails quite well; let him know of technical issues and he will work with you or just throw you an extension. Typical Aleks course but throws materials out to help study and learn, sadly no vids when I took him. Tests and Quizzes had three attempts during my time with him.
Everything was on Aleks, I asked to take an exam I forgot about (even w the consistent reminder emails lol) and he was understanding and let me take it. Hes incredibly lenient, he makes this course incredibly easy while also being productive.
He has pdf notes, so class is just him rewriting them. He goes over everything super fast and doesnt respond to emails. Homework and practice is pretty much the same thing for quizzes but in his class its hard to actually learn anything. I would avoid him all together, but if you get stuck with him go to the open lab and other profs office hours.
The class is just him rewriting the notes that he puts up on d2l, he is understanding and is a nice person, but the class never feels engaging and it has the feeling of an online class, because he mostly just looks down at his ipad
Only thing you do is use mathlab. ALL he does is recite the paper notes, with an accent. Gave 0's (changed the grade) to anyone who didnt take the exams in class, ONE DAY BEFORE FINAL, so grades dropped randomly. Never told about this policy, got a 0 on one quiz. POS prof who 100% did it on purpose, instead of putting it in day of. exams are easy.
His lectures are actually worthless. My test grades IMPROVED after I stopped going to class and just started learning everything off of the textbook and youtube. Attendance is only required for when there is a test or a quiz. The tests are taken straight out of the homework, which is a plus, so study hard, and you'll do good.
You will pass the class ONLY if you know how to work independently! Many people complain about his final exam policy but the rules were made by the KSU department so not much he can do if you fail the final.
You can look up the answers for ALEKS all throughout the semester but I wouldn't recommend it since you got to know the stuff for the final. He doesn't have as many test rules as other professors during tests and is willing to give you partial credit during the in-person final
He was a pretty good professor but, you will have to learn independently since it's an in person final. The work wasn't hard. Everything was through Aleks! Used Lockdown with Cam. take him if your good at learning on your own and he's pretty lenient with testing rules.
This class was online and you definitely have to be ready to teach yourself and spend a lot of time doing work. Everything is on lockdown browser but if you work hard it's not too bad bc you get multiple attempts on everything. The final is in person which is the part that sucks. If you have to take the class, then it will be okay but try to avoid.
easy online class.
He has an accent and his lectures are too fast, but he explains things well if you ask questions. The in-class worksheets will usually clear any doubts. Tests/quizzes are straight from the homework, just with different numbers. He also offered makeups for missed tests/quizzes and gave partial credit if you made a mistake. Very nice professor.
Professor Wang is excellent! His ALEK-based class has easy quizzes (under 10 questions, multiple retakes) and tests (under 20 questions, similar problems). He extends deadlines and responds quickly to emails. The only challenge is the final—you need at least 50% to pass. But do all ALEK work for an easy A, and be sure to study hard for the final!
Gives extra time to complete quizzes and tests. Genuinely interested in the success of his students. Always willing to help. You need to practice the weekly assignments and test guides to get an easy A. Very respectful and pleasant professor and responds to emails.
He is a bad professor, and gives tooo much work. If math anti your best subject don't take him.Your grade depends mostly on your test and quizzes, take anyone else.
