This guy is awesome! I swear, he is the easiest english teacher you will ever find. He does give you a pretty good amount of writing, but he makes it fun. He's really understanding too. Slack, simple, and fun to be around...who wouldn't like this guy?!

Great mangament professor, obviously cares and understands the content of the course. Drops bad grades, makes final exam optional(!) and over-all just gives you lots of good managment tips. Definently the one to take for org behavior. Can be a little disorganized though, if there is a downside.

He makes this class as easy as it can get. The facts are that this course requires a 13-15 page paper. Williams is really laid back and realizes students have other classes to worry about. I highly recommend this guy

This is the best english class I have ever taken. Very laid back guy that is very helpful with any types of questions. Does his best to make it fun and interesting. There is a ton of writing that has to get done, but he tries to make it fun and gives you plenty of in class time to work on things. Would definitely take this guy again!

I vote for Mr. Larry Williams, through and through! I highly recommend that you do the same. No BS in this class, nope. He teaches what you need to know, and doesn't waste time with what you don't. You won't regret taking his class!

Taking ENGL200 as an 8 week course during the summer with Professor Williams was one of the best decisions I've made during my college career. With Williams' no BS, straight to the point style of teaching, this paper was literally done before I knew it. Reading the first half of the book was a big help too. A+++++ prof

Larry Williams is the BEST teacher that I've had at VCU so far. He lets you turn in stuff late as long as you turn it in. He will help you out so much if you are behind or even slacking. I HIGHLY recommend taking him.

if i was about to take this course again i would def. make sure that i worked my class schedule around this guy! you cannot go wrong with him. He is so nice and laid back, just do what he asks, and even if you do late work he'll check it off for you w/out penalty. in his MWF class, there were times he cancelled class once a week. TAKE THIS PROF.!

Awesome teacher, took him for 2nd half of freshman english, and he was very accomodating and helpful.

AWESOME TEACHER!!! He is very helpful and very patient. He broke down the BIG term paper into small sections and before you knew it the paper was essentially done and just needed some fine tuning. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT A REAL TEACHER!!!

YOU MUST TAKE HIS CLASS if you're taking ENGL 200. I hardly ever went to class, got an A!! He cancels class very frequently. He is ridiculously helpful and patient. I've heard horror stories about ENGL 200, but with Williams, it's just smooth sailing. Pick a topic that you're interested in for your paper it will make it much easier.

Williams is awesome! He makes the writing process very easy, and before you know it the paper is practically done. He is very friendly, very helpful, talks with his students as if they are his friends. It's great! TAKE HIM FOR ANY CLASS YOU CAN! Definitely one of the best professors I have had so far

Summer course. NO busy work! class was hard: u have 2 write a 13 pg paper but its much easier than expected. as long as u show u are trying, come to class (he takes attend), turn in ur work (or the majority of it), & pass the portfolio u'll get an A. class is so much better w/ L.Williams. take him if u can & take it in summer when things go faster

I had him for UNIV 111 and UNIV 112 and he has to be the best English Professor. All of my friends were complaining about their teachers. He's really easy and very helpful and also a really nice grader for essays. TAKE HIM!!!

He's a fantastic teacher as everyone else has noted. He's extremely helpful when it comes to improving your writing. He's encouraging and and all around great guy. I wish he was teaching something other than UNIV classes. I want him to teach all of my English classes. Oh. And he's pretty attractive, if that will make you choose him.

he is a pretty easy and lenient english teacher who really really wants everyone to succeed when coming out of his class. he helps build your confidence in english, and you can generally be all around comfortable talking to this guy and turning in papers focused on just about anything. Really a nice guy, probably impossible to fail his class.

He's just awesome. He's laid back and funny and if you just do the put in the effort and speak up in class (so easy to do) then you're golden. There's HW, but not much. So helpful to. Just come to him with anything and he'll help you work it out. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he really wants you to come to class. Definitely my favorite professor!

It's a pretty easy class and is required. Work required isn't bad and grades leniently. Very good teacher, extremely intellegent and reasonable/understanding. Was excellent at encouring students and was always constuctive with his advice. Best teacher i've had here and would definately recommend him to anyone.

BEST TEACHER AT VCU! He's was so helpful and down to earth. I would HIGHLY reccommend his class. Easy material if you just apply yourself and do the work. You should go to class, but it's worth it. You get a chance to redo essays you didn't do well on & only had a few quizzes. Leniant but you should have a good reason. I wish he taught UNIV 200!

Mr. Williams was definitely my favorite professor this semester! He was always more than willing to help you out and work with you if an issue came up. He's very easy to get along with and super sweet! His assignments were usually fun, interesting, and sometimes introspective. I'm definitely jealous of whoever gets to be his TA next semester.

Mr. Williams is a very precise and understanding professor. he gives you the help you need and is up for helping you with your assignments. He seems to have a mild tolerance for lazy people, so do the work its not extremely hard. He is just AWESOME, so take him!!!

Love love love this professor. He is FANTASTIC. His sections fill up pretty quickly so you should take him if you can. You won't regret it. I've heard a lot of horror stories about UNIV 111 & 112, but none from students in his classes. He makes the class worth while.

I wish Mr. Williams taught UNIV 200. He was by far the most interesting, up-to-date, realistic, down-to-earth teacher ever. He is definitely not a push over so don't get your hopes up. He's smart, witty, and hilarious. Tolerant for slackers, but no way, the class is interesting. My friends were unlucky not to have him. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!!

Going into VCU, I was NOT looking forward to FI, but I am SO glad I got Mr. Williams! He's very up-to-date, intelligent, funny, and will always keep you interested. The amount of work he assigns is not too overwhelming and is a very easy grader. Take his class and you won't regret it.

Larry was one of the most understanding professors that I've had at VCU. He was willing to work one-on-one with us as much as possible. If we wanted to revise essays after they were due, he would let us turn it in for credit - he wanted to make sure that we could improve our writing.

Williams is an amazing professor. He cuts out the bs of what a stereotypical college English class is supposed to be like. All you really need to do is ask questions and keep going to class. There was never a dull moment! Loved it :) P.S. Be sure to read the summer reading book (short quiz in the beginning of the semester!)

Professor Williams is incredibly helpful and engaging. Having a morning gen ed class was something I was nervous about, but he's really supportive and takes the time to work through any problems or concerns you have.

He is my absolute favorite teacher so far. He is great, helpful, and all around amazing. He does expect you to work hard and put time into his class, but he is also very laid back. I was able to turn a couple of the smaller assignments in late with no repercussions. If you can, get him.

You will regret NOT taking professor williams. He is such a nice man and is extremely patient. His class saved my gpa, and I am so glad to have had him as a teacher my first semester of college. The class is easy, just show up he is straight up.

Mr. Williams is such an amazing person and professor. I enjoyed his class so much that I decided to be a UTA for him the next year. He is so helpful and understanding. He makes lectures fun and applicable to not only the class but life, as cheesy as it sounds.

Amazing and fun professor. You can enjoy the time there. It's a good way to put down your ideas on paper and get a good grade on it. His daughter sometimes help with grading small quizes with stickers.

Professor Williams made Univ 111 and 112 one of my favorite classes. Which is surprising because a lot of students hate Univ. He really gives you a lot of feedback on your writing and is there to help if you are confused. There are about 3 essays per semester and Group and individual presentations. He loves to tell stories and is really chill.

Easiest class ever. Prof Williams is so nice and genuinely cares about his students. Do the work and participate and you'll pass with flying colors.

Never took the time to rate a professor but he was good enough to do so! I highly reccomend taking him. He does not overload on the homework. You get to pick the topic of your essays, but he gives you a general guide to what it should be about, unlike most professors. Focus on showing up for class and complete the doable assignments.

VERY Easy Class and if you take him, you get him for both UNIV111 and UNIV112. Plenty of assignments, but the ones that matter are the 3 essays. Must read the book they give you in Orientation BEFORE classes start!

Professor Williams is so nice and caring. His class is an easy A if you put in the effort. I had him for UNIV 111 and am taking him again for UNIV 112. I wish I could have him for UNIV 200 because he is such a chill professor. I hate UNIV because it is such a joke and reminds me of high school English, but Larry makes it doable. He is p funny too!

Wow well what to say. I've had the pleasure of having Larry Williams for both UNIV 111 and 112 and they were hands down easiest and thought-provoking classes for my time at VCU. Interesting assignments from an otherwise mundane required class. Personally, a wonderful guy that was thoughtful enough to recommend me for grad school 3 years later 10/10

English isn't really needed for my major at all, so I only needed to take this class because it was required, BUT he was by far my favorite professor I've had. He WANTS to know his students. Class was an easy pass. Just show up, he's not boring so you won't be disappointed.

Would take this class again anytime.

Professor Williams is truly a great guy. Small UNIV classes allow students to get close with him. He makes personal connections with students and truly cares about us. Only three unit essays but many discussion posts on blackboard. Easy A if you actually show up and do the work. I wouldnt want to take UNIV with anyone else.

Professor Williams was super nice and funny. He was really fair in class and understanding and was my favorite professor! I ended up coming back to be a UTA for him.

Professor Williams is probably the best teacher a first-year student could ask for. He is extremely helpful inside and outside the classroom, easy to get along with and really knows his stuff. This class is not difficult if you come to class and do the small amount of work that he gives you it will be an easy A.

Professor Larry Williams I think is one of the best Focused Inquiry teachers. He has essays and group projects like any other class yet manages to always incorporate as many different learning styles into his teaching as possible. He is very accessible to his students and is clear on assignments that should be completed.

Great professor & easy to get along with. The work is pretty simple & straight-forward. He is also pretty easy to reach out to & is honest.

Great guy but he never answers any of your emails. Instructions were okay, they weren't the clearest but it was understandable. Be prepared to do a lot of tedious (easy) work every week. Easy grader. I just wished he provided us thorough feedback from our essays.

The assignments really were not too bad, they were just the basics and I did not have to spend a lot of time on them. The only thing that I really was not used to was not really having any instruction or any help on the essays, we had some assignments, but I felt like I had to do basically everything alone. No required rough draft feedback, etc.

Mr Williams is a great teacher and an even greater person. He does tend to go on some personal anecdotes sometimes but I didn't mind. he was very understanding with my time conflict and let me leave early. Attendance is lenient but do show up when things are due/being assigned outside of that no harm.

Professor Williams was my favorite professor for my freshman year. He genuinely cares about his students and you can tell that he is passionate about his job. Prof Williams is a great person and professor. Compared to complaints I have heard from other friends who have had different professors for UNIV, I can say that I have never had any of those issues with Prof Williams. He is flexible with extensions and assignments are mostly simple and straight to the point. I would 100% recommend taking his class!

I know you're looking for a good English teacher right now and I swear by Mr. Larry is the best TEACHER at VCU. He is such a generous teacher, not a hard grader (that's a good thing lol), AND he honestly cares alot for his students. If you don't take him you're making a big mistake, all the rest of the teachers do too much.

Professor Williams is an amazing teacher - super understanding and engaging. The class is stress-free, and using Unstuck study along with the free textbook really helped me ace it.

Larry gave me the best feedback and acceptance in writing I've had throughout academic years. I took his univ 111 last summer and was blown away by how smooth it went despite it being 15 weeks of content but only a 2 month long course. I think he is one of the best univ professors here at vcu, take his class!

Great professor gets to know his students very well. He's lenient if you ask for extension he'll give it to you.
