Teaches Statistics only during the summer, take all math classes with him, he's the BEST ECC math teacher. Extremely interactive/fun, never a dull moment. Explains perfectly, with many examples. Has group discussions & take home test. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Lars is one of the great math teacher I've ever had. Make subject really clear and helpful even when Math270 is all about weird matrix and symbols. Tests are not that hard if you pay attention to his lecture. Accepts most late works w/o point deduction. Don't forget on-going joke of his world.

Took class over this summer, classes weren't as long as they seem. Great professor, very organized. The take home exams are long but easy if you are willing to do the work. I recommend this class to anyone who doesn't really like math since he shows us tricks to solve problems by using a calculator.

While I didn't actually take his class per se, he "team taught" with my math teacher, so I wound up in his class a few times. He's funny and communicates very well with his students. You will always remember his word problems - "Young Lars wanted to build a 4 x 4 fence..."

Lars is an awsome teacher! He is a great teacher for those who arnt the best in math. He even allowed take home test and the ability to correct in class test mistakes for half credit. The only downside is the fact that he keeps the class in till the very end.

Lars is such a nice and pleasant person. He really cares about his students and gets to know them on a first name basis. He explains things really well and is always willing to help. It's not just about the grade you get it's about understanding the concepts of math, that is what is important to him. Plus, he's funny!

very easy class doesnt care if ur late to class test are easy and hw is never too much he tells alot of funny stories doesnt explain to good but he is still the best!!!!

He's hilarious! he really knows how to make a class fun and still learn a lot. not a lot of work, lots of in class problems as a class though but they arent hard and tells a lot of funny stories...and you can acually bag on him a little and he doesnt care...i called him a duetchbag just to see what he would say and he just laughed...lol

Don't let his take home tests fool you, they're made to trick you into learning the material. VERY helpful, clear, and he's got a good sense of humor. Highly recommended.

The lectures are well informative. He is helpfull, explains material in detail and is very supportive. You will enjoy his class, but yes, don't let the take home tests fool you!

Very highly reccomened teacher. Wants to help. Wants you to learn and have an understanding of the material. Very funny and witty. Gives re-writes on all test. (except the final of course) Group and take home quizzes. Not very consistent with homework. But you should do it, it will help.

At first the class was very overwhelming with all the handouts and requirments but eventually eased up about a fourth of the way through. Stick with it and go to his office hours for help on all exams and you should be fine.

Lars is a good and helpful teacher. His gateways are challenging, but you could retake them. Also gives lots of handouts, so u don't really need the book.

He is the best math teacher I've taken at el camino besides mr. stillson. He is really helpful. I took statistics during the summer and thought I'd never get through but I did. It was alot of work and reading but I learned alot. I got an A in the class.

lars was one of the most helpful teaches i ever had. i tested into pre-calc so i didnt take trig and he took the time to teach it to me when i went to his office hours. he teaches everything VERY CLEARLY. his tests r pretty easy & u get to do corrections 2 earn a third 2 a half of the points u missed! highly recommended. best math teach ever taken!

Very helpful, after the bad experience I had with Professor Yang I was very hesitant in taking professors with weird looking last names, but with Professor K, I could not have chosen anyone better. He is funny but doesn't get off topic and with him every question is welcome. Plus he doesn't have an accent at all which is great in my book. Go Lars!

His method of teaching encourages students to learn from their mistakes. He is a great teacher and really cares about his students and wants you to learn the material. I truly believe that if I’d had math teachers like him to begin with it would have made a world of difference in how I view math.He is down to earth.Lars is one of the good ones!

Lars is an amazing teacher. He is super involved and will help you out nearly 24/7. He started using Edmodo just so he could answer student questions all day, as well as letting students collaborate on problems. Uses groups a lot, which is also very helpful. Overall solid teacher. A little kooky but definitely a good guy, good professor. Take him!

He is the best! I was scared to take math 150 especially during the summer but it was worth it. Best teacher ever he lets you rewrite your midterm and final no other teacher does that. He gives you many chances he gave us extra time to review our take home quizzes with classmates .

Professor Lars is the MOST...kind and caring teacher I have ever met. I took Lars twice b/c he is just that good!=) He loves to teach and build relationships with his students. Lars is an exceptional teacher he's one of those no non-sense teacher who is there to teach, help you, and overall provide an educational experience that you can take outside the course. If you're profficient at Pre-Algebra and Algebra then this class is for you, if not then don't take it you won't be ready. He's tough at grading and so are hisTEST

I loved Lars ! He's the best math prof at elco! I definitely would take another class with him. He is very helpful. Assigns group projects here and there. Keep up with the modules if you fail by 5% he'll ask you to fix the problem on the test and he'll pass you ... He's very easy going !

When I first took Lars for 37, I failed the first time but I was so close to passing. I retook it with him & passed. I am in 67 with him right now & I love math now! Its my worst subject! He makes it easy to understand as well as he does what he can to help his students. I have had teachers before who were there just 4 the paycheck. But not him.

he is great if you have the chance to take him don't even think twice he's the type of teacher that makes math fun and understandable. i know what you're thinking math isn't fun or understandable well i thought that 2 until i took him.

Lars is one of the greatest teachers I have encountered. I grew up in a rough neighborhood, so staying alive was more important than math, Lars is one of those teachers that will help you learn math with the greatest form of patience. He takes the anxiety out of learning math by working through problems with you, he does expect you to work hard!

I have to say that this professor is the best math professor there is. Math is not my favorite subject i have never passed math with an A i have always been a C student for math Lars helps you alot he understands you and he has made math something that i am no longer afraid to take.

Hand Down one of the best Math professors at El Camino. I recommend him to anyone. He is really good at explaining Math concepts in a way that easy to understand. Most quizzes are take home and in-class quizzes he lets you rework the problems you got wrong for half credit. 2 Exams which consist of a take home and in-class portion.

Professor Lars is super nice and well going teacher. You have to put in the work in order to pass. GO TO SI ! it helps a lot and go to his office hours. Make sure to study for the exams and go to tutoring and go over the Mock exam because it helps a lot !

To be honest I was terrified to take Math 170 - Especially since I haven't had math in a while. Professor Lars spent time with us on weekends to help students that felt like they needed additional help outside of class. He's such a great and caring professor. I wish he taught every since math class I needed. I have learned a lot from him.

Man, this guy is awesome, super nice, and caring. This semester was crazy he was still trying to get settled like everyone else. But in the end, you'll 100% know what you did wrong and he gives you many, many chances to fix any mistake you make. This man is the perfect teacher. IF YOU FAIL IT IS YOUR FAULT!!!!

He was the sweetest Prof and teacher i have ever had. He was so nice during the pandemic. I took him for my major and I was really nervous to take stats but he went so slow and made sure we all understood. I wish I could have met him in person to thank him for being such a kind person. Fast pace class, but Lars is definitely a great teacher. I had trouble because I was behind, but he's great. He cares for students. Textbook provided when needed, lots of homework, accepts late work. Office hours and math parties can be helpful if having trouble. Takes time to respond to emails. Not a fast grader. You'll pass if you turn in stuff.

Breaks down mathematical concepts, and does not mind explaining and explaining until someone gets it. He also gives students multiple tries on homework, exams, and projects. Be sure to attend office hours and math parties on the weekends (which are basically extra office hours). Turning all homework and a project in gets you an A. Very kind guy!

Professor Lars give probabilities to learn on different ways and options students can produce more or understand statistics. I took this class twice. I think he make us think what you are really learning with a purpose.

Had a hybrid class. Professor is a super nice and passionate person. He is the reason I enjoyed stats as much as I did. His lectures are easy to follow and the assignments are also great. He gives feedback and lets his students resubmit assignments for higher scores. "Tests" are very leisurely in this class. Wish more professors were like him. :)

Very passionate and cares much about math and students. However, I wouldn't give him a perfect score just because I felt like he went all of over the place for trigonometry. He didn't really give a guideline if we're on chapter 1 or 2 so it made it hard to follow and understand why we're learning this. Overall, great teacher just not my type.

Prof. Lars cares very deeply about what he is teaching. So much so that it feels like he forgets there are students trying to learn the subject matter. He gets too invested in the lectures, causing him to barely go over what he's talking about and you end up getting confused. His grading system is amazing though, and if you pay attention your fine.

great teacher overall! gives you many resources to use to get you started on a good foot in the class, if lost on a math topic is willing to help you through it, alot of homework but he grades mostly by quizzes and the homework was more to prepare you for the quizzes but he lets you retake it to render full points to get a good grade in the class.

He was one of the nicest professors. He was clear about what the quizzes would be on and helped us do practice problems before we took them. He allowed us to turn in assignments late and offered help if we struggled to do them. He cares more that you understand the material than completing it, and the long lectures don't seem so bad.

Professor Kjeseth is the first one I've had who genuinely cares about his students and their grades. I had hardships in my life and he was understanding even if my attendance/grades weren't so good. Communication is key in this class

He was a great professor! He's very caring, and kind, and he cracks up little jokes here and there. He's great with teaching but he goes a little too fast but all you have to do is ask him questions (Don't be afraid to do so though he's not mean). Just pass all your Gateways and do the assignment (they're not too hard and there's not many)

Professor is unorganized and his lectures are confusing HOWEVER this is class if you keep up with the work is an easy A. I have never been good at math, but I got an A. He is kind and go to his office hours for help. Make friends in class and it makes it easier. Keep up with your gateways and RUAs. If I can get an A, you can too.

Great professor 10/10, had a great time in spring 2024, taking him again in fall 2024 for 220. easy A not alot of work, but alot of research on your own, outside of class.

Not a hard class, but if you get confused throughout his lectures because he Is unorganized, you should go to office hours to get that help. He is much more accessible through there and can help you more one on one. Some assignments are take home so make sure you keep up with those! Also took the support class and he makes the work even for both.

Great professor and really seems to care. It would be very difficult to fail his class. The only thing is, I didn't learn much. I learned enough to pass my tests on my third retake at least but that was it. If you are stopping at 191 go for it, but if you need to continue to 220 do not take him, you will get a good grade but not retain much.

Best Professor ever!!He is very good and careful of his students. He could even adjust his office hours with students if they aren't free on specific time. If you do all assignments and take all tests, you definitely gonna get A. One thing is that you have to do self study sometimes.

Professor Lars is very helpful in guiding you through the requirements necessary to get an A in his course. His lectures aren't very complex yet provide you with enough challenge to ask questions and set time outside of class to review material. Also, very flexible with office hours or how he calls them "math parties", would definitely retake him!

Lars is a fantastic professor. He will almost always be available on Saturday and Friday for "math parties". Retakes on everything! Ask him questions! His Math 270 is challenging, theoretical, and proof-oriented. Taught using Farlow and Strang. However, Exams are heavy on Strang content, a textbook written by an MIT Professor, to say the least.
