He is the most helpful and caring professor I will probably ever have. He is so understanding and really really flexible about deadlines. Attendance is technically mandatory but he is flexible about that too. It was also really easy. I got a 100% on the midterm and a 110%, beacuse he curved it, on the final. I would 100% take him again.
Although at first he seems kind of strange, he is really very easy going and super nice. He makes things very easy for you in terms of exams and papers, and there is only one lecture and one two hour discussion each week which he teaches himself. If you're going to take BUAD 307, take it with Perner.
Lectures not mandatory, but participation in discussions is worth a lot of grade. Super mellow and easy class. Gives previous exams to review before midterms. Definitely doable to get an A.
Perner is a very nice guy but his class is pretty boring. As long as you study the slides and do the reading getting an A is simple but I don't feel like I learned as much as other classes. If you just want easy, take Perner. If you want to learn about marketing, I would go with another teacher. Lectures are him reading the slides and showing clips
Perner is a very nice guy, great teacher. Class is pretty much mandatory but you can miss up to 5 classes. His discussions are pretty good. Lectures are a bit boring. As long as you read the slides, and pay attention to his handouts, and read what he tells you to you'll be fine.
class is mandatory but you can skip up to 5. hes reasonable and a nice guy. makes class material interesting. do well on the assignments and you'll do fine. just study whatever he outlines and gives you on the handouts.
Best teacher ever in USC!
Nice guy, but class is SO BORING! Assignments are easy, tests are alright, study previous exams (alot is the same). 1 MT, 1 non-cumulative final, 4 quizzes, 2 papers (project proposal, application paper, optional final paper). Has some funny jokes, great personality, but at times I would zone out, speaks monotone. EASY, TAKE his class.
Perner is not hard. He is very boring and can be hard to follow at times. The goods outweight the bads (1 Midterm, 1 Non-Cum Final, Participation, Paper, and 3 Quizzes). Study for the Midterms and you will get an A or B. One of the most knowledgeable teachers at SC.
I would definitely recommend this class and teacher. Although attendance to his lecture isn't required, during discussion he records your participation points. Make sure you contribute. Also for the midterm and final look through his power points and previous exams. Don't hesitate to go into his office hours.
Can be boring, but really easy and knowledgeable. One of the better teachers in Marshall.
The class is fairly easy. Perner's lectures are pretty boring but the term project is pretty cool. It's not an easy A, but it's definitely manageable to get an A- or B+.
he is very hard to understand and lectures are unbearable. the class itself is easy but the tests are ridiculous
Not so good
Disregard any negative comments about Perner - he's easy, easygoing, and is willing to help out those who contribute positively to the course. He has Asperger's and it can be easy to zone out in lecture with his monotone voice, but overall his teaching ability, humor, and genuine concern for his students outweighs anything negative about him. Solid
Great teacher for a class that I had almost no interest in. He is HIGHLY organized, down to color-coded handouts, seating arrangements for midterm/final and participation. Monotone voice can bore you to tears. Overall, his expectations are clear and he is helpful. Despite his demeanor, he is very clever.
Very organized guy. He expects you to come to discussion sections and lectures. He will occasionally have "pop attendance sheets" to see if you come to class. His tests are very clear and straightforward if you follow the copious notes he hands out. Class itself is pretty boring though
Extremely organized and very smart. Lectures are a little boring, but his jokes keep my interest most of the time. Does not take attendance in lecture, but keeps track of participation in discussion. one midterm, one final, one final project, no homework
The worst prof that I have ever had. Tests are no where close to relevant to the real world, he is extremely boring and does not clearly "teach" the material. It's all about memorizing the little details, which he says don't matter on the syllabus. If you have any interest in marketing, do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.
He has incredibly boring lectures and no matter how thorough you are with his study guides, he asks questions on his multiple choice tests consisting of a, b, c, a and b, b and c, a and c, all of the above, and none of the above. It seems as though he prides himself on asking questions that do not actually test that you know the material.
I would recommend not taking Perner. He is one of the worst profs I've had-extremely boring, tests are essentially vocab tests, and he is extremely egotistical. Lectures are literally painful to attend. If you can bear his speaking, class isn't too bad. Just a nightmare before the midterm and final, memorize all topics on the study guides.
Being a nonbusiness major, this class was a fairly easy and worthwhile experience. One of the few professors who shows fascinating videos that supplement lecture. Can get a bit dull during lecture, but he makes a lot of interesting points.
The guy is a sweetheart, but seriously both the lectures and discussions are incredibly boring. And the tests don't are particularly tricky with ambiguous answers (a and c, a and b, none of the above) rather than on essential applicable skills. Contagioius is a great mandatory book he asks the class to read, but besides that biggest waste of time.
If u have a positive attitude about the class, you shouldn't have problem. Lectures and discussions are extremely long, but if u can sit through it, easy participation points. He literally posts everything that's on the test online, and although my study guide was 10+pages, I got an easy A after putting time into learning them.
He is an awkward professor with an exceptionally long syllabus, but he gives you all the tools to be successful. He is extremely helpful and lenient about deadlines. Overall, he is a good professor for marketing.
This teacher is literally the nicest person at USC. He really wants his students to do well and he is a caring individual. I am not sure why some of these ratings are so low of him, he is a great teacher.
Professor Perner is genuinely the nicest professor at Marshall. He is understanding of students circumstances and is flexible about deadlines. During discussion he acknowledges your input which makes students feel more inclined to participate. Overall, a great professor with great examples.
Perner is the best marketing professor! No complaints.
Marketing should be one of the most important class in business courses. However, the way this class is taught at USC specially by this professor Perner is pretty ridiculous. We used out dated videos and examples for class making the class extremely boring and pointless.
Although he gives a lot of handouts, everything is very organized. Lectures can be incredibly boring, but he means well and is very nice! He gives sample questions (lots of them) for his midterm and final, so they were very doable. One big project that he basically walks you through and, in my opinion, is easier to do by yourself than in a group.
So uninspiring. Most boring lecturer I have ever had. Info is useless. Has 4 jokes and repeats them over and over.
Boring lectures, nice guy, knows what he is talking about. Discussions are nice but you have to speak in them if you want participation points. Lots of work and reading.
An average professor.
I wouldnt take him for Marketing.. His lecture are so boring and he makes you show up... His discussions are even more unbearable and not only are those mandatory too, but you need to participate. Get as many participation incidents are you can because he will square root them and distribute them as points.. His grading criteria is horrendous..
Not a very interesting class, especially for a marketing class. Overall very easy. Need to go to lecture/discussion for participation-do the study guide and you'll be fine.
Has terrible participation system in discussion. Literally everyone raises their hand to get their participation "incidents," and it leads to unhelpful discussion. He says you have to understand concepts for the exams, but in reality you just have to memorize all the terms on the study guide and you're good.
Professor Perner is a fantastic professor. He's super nice and does his best to understand each student and sets up the class so that you perform well. Unfortunately, the subject he's teaching is tough to make exciting but he does his best -- highly recommend.
Nice guy. Lectures are NOT mandatory. Discussion IS mandatory bc you need to participate for points. Midterm and Final are pretty hard. I did not learn ANYTHING in this class. The material is very easy, but the questions are worded poorly. Ex. a) goods b)consumer c) producer d) a & b e)all of the above . f) none of the above. Next prof
Perner is the most understanding and flexible professor I have had at USC. He provides all of the tools you need in order to earn an A in his class and is very accessible during office hours. The tests become very easy if you study ahead of time. Definitely recommend if you like professors with a solid structure.
i would recommend this class, discussion is mandatory but is easy with just group activities.
Easy B, impossible A. First off, discussion is mandatory but absolutely useless. Lecture is not mandatory. You learn absolutely nothing I suggest not attending lecture. You will get a B just by studying powerpoints, not attending class, attend discussion, and enjoy life. But an A, yeah not happening.
Discussion and lecture are mandatory. The tests are relatively easy and he grades fairly and accurately. The class doesn't have a huge curve but the averages on tests are in the 80's
I absolutely love professor Perner. It is a harder class, and I definitely put the hours in but it was worth it for sure. He is an incredible teacher and person, and after his class I can say with confidence that he is the best professor I have ever had and probably ever will have. I cannot say enough positive things about Professor Perner.
This class was incredibly easy. Show up and you will get a good grade. Straight up memorization with little thought involved. You will get an easy A or A- taking Lars.
Professor Perner is one of the best professors I have ever had. Hes a real saint and will do everything he can to make sure his students understand his material. There is a lot of work and preparation for exams but through the course of it youll really come to have an understanding of marketing. Amazing professor!
Professor Perner is very flexible with deadlines and wants you to succeed, no question. Take him for 307 if you want a very structured class with a clear criteria for all assessments. Check his website out too!
Lars is such a nice guy. He grades super lightly and practice tests are very similar to the real thing. Participation matters but it is stupid easy so go to class and discussion. Only downside is everyone does pretty well so do not expect much of a curve. Getting As on tests are doable with medium amount of studying. About top 25% of class get As.
I highly recommend this class. Easy to get an A if you study and put the time and effort in. Read the book, textbooks and use the practice tests he gives. Don't slack off and expect an A. I wasn't expecting for this class to be easy, but he was so nice and helpful and ended with an A with a medium amount of effort. A lot of midterm/final studying.
Most diligent prof Ive met, he'll send weekly announcements w/ ur grade to each individual. Lectures are not interesting and not quite necessary to attend cuz his slides cover everything.
I really loved Professor Perner's teaching style. I found it fun and I always wanted to pay attention. To this day, I still looking at how a store is set-up because of what showed us in his class. If you have a passion for marketing, then I would highly recommend his class.
Kind, caring, inspiring! Take his class (:
Prof. Perner is really caring, kind, and flexible if you need a little wiggle room in terms of deadlines! He understands the stress of online classes and allows for open book and open note on exams which really helps alleviate that. A solid choice for 307.
He is a really nice professor and he makes a lot of dad jokes in class. I think the class was really boring, but the tests were super easy/common sense. (I only studied for like two hours the night before and I got good grades) We had one major research paper, but he's pretty chill as long as you make an effort and do good work.
Boring glass, solid professor. Grading is rough, A is almost impossible, B is very easy, just about how much time you put in. Perner is very accessible outside of class, helpful to students, gives extensions. Grading is updated often and he's straightforward about the grading.
Lars' lectures are pretty boring but he cares about his students. All of the classes were asynchronous besides discussion. He's really flexible about deadlines and will give an extension if you ask. The midterm, final, and paper are worth 75 percent of your grade but they were open note and internet. I think he's the best marketing prof at USC
Professor Perner is a solid choice for 307. His lectures are dry, and you must participate. However, he gives extensions, is accessible over email, has multiple office hours, and understands that online learning is tough. If you read the textbook, watch the asynchronous material, and do the practice tests, an A is attainable.
He has Asperger's and told one of the funniest jokes that almost made me spit out my drink all over my laptop. Only criticisms are the participation grading method and research paper. It felt like students were fighting to participate to get points. I didn't read the textbook, just the powerpoints. He is VERY accommodating (listens to the students)
Easy class and tests, funniest professor I had this semester.
Nicest and most generous professor at USC. Updates his students with their score reports every week. Study his materials and you'll do more than fine on the exams. Take him!!
Take him! Professor Perner is hardworking and cares a lot about the students. He gives clear expectations and reports grade frequently to the students. The course is insightful and consists of lecture asynchronous material, discussion sessions, and an interesting book that we read weekly.
Simply the best marketing professor at USC (maybe anywhere), super kind and caring and knowledgable.
Professor Lars is the best. He is so understanding and the class is not difficult at all. 1 midterm, 1 final exam, and 1 paper. Grades relatively easy and exams are open note so just take notes on lecture slides. No need for the textbook. Participate in class for credit.
His lectures are boring most of the time and it just feels like he goes on forever about something and never gets to the point. Tests are very detail specific so be sure to study word for word the slides and read the assigned books (not just textbook)
Professor Perner is a great professor. While the information itself is extremely basic and boring, Perner does a great job adding quirky remarks or small jokes to keep students engaged. His midterm was not challenging if you read the book and he put cute and funny answers sometimes to help lead us to the right answer on the test.
this class was okay... prof was sweet but boring. to the point where I ended up teaching myself the material from the detailed slides he posted. discussions felt forced bc he literally makes numbered name cards and checks off your number each time you participate. tests weren't too bad but just make sure to study because there's a lot of content
Perner is an awesome professor. His lectures and discussion sessions are very boring but he's super nice and funny. He gives VERY little work throughout the semester. As long as you know the basic material, you will do good on the midterm and final. Highly recommend Perner.
He's the best! On both our midterm and final, he gave us a difficulty adjustment to get more points as he understood we were struggling with the transition back to in person. There's a 10 page paper we have to write, and the paper, midterm, and final count for 80% of your grade, the rest is participation in discussion. His lectures are very boring.
such a sweet, accomodating guy. as others have said, lectures are super dry but he does his best to make them somewhat enjoyable (i.e., music at the start, jokes, etc.). content isn't hard but it is A LOT, so make sure to stay on top of everything on a weekly basis instead of cramming before exams.
His lectures are really boring (reads off of the slides) but you hv to attend bc he does live participation things. It's an easy class bc content is self-explanatory. Midterm/ final so easy, just multiple choice but content heavy. Only wrote 1 paper. He gives sample midterms/finals that are similar to the real one. He's rly understanding & funny.
Perner is amazing take him. Use the summary notes for tests and make sure to fill out the entire study guide and you'll get an A. For the essays just model yours after the examples he gives and you'll be set. Honestly such a sweet and funny man.
Professor Perner is great. He tries to relieve stress off of everyone by offering extensions and is very easily accessible. His tests are nuanced and are heavily based on the lectures, but there are some concepts from the textbook too.
the prof was helpful, but now that the finals are over, he refused to bump up my grade. i missed an A by a 0.5% and he wouldn't round it off. he stopped replying to my emails and I'm not sure what to do anymore. he doesn't really "teach" per se and just reads off of lectures which is often boring
Honestly, a very likable guy. His lectures can be a little boring, but there are no curveballs on his exams. Just study the slides/summary notes he posts and he tells you the specific topics to study from the textbook. You need to know the details for the MC exams because the last couple choices will often be "A and B" and "All of the Above"
Doesnt grade anything besides the tests, there was literally nothing entered in on blackboard, not even the tests - he just emails you what you got so long after its irrelevant by then. Also has very dry and boring lectures; just reads off outdated slides and is always sitting (needs to engage with the class more). I dont recommend him.
Nice guy with a big ego. Basically Impossible to understand him especially because hes so monotone. Not USC grade. His lectures have no substance and teaches outdated content, the whole class would be head down on their laptops while he lectured. Save yourself
Professor Lars is amazing. While lectures are boring, don't skip class because participation matters. Also very caring, allowing for extensions when needed. Always energetic, clearly has a passion for teaching, and posts all content needed on Blackboard. Although straightforward, class is content heavy so revise a bit each week and don't cram!!
Bland, boring, and hard to understand. I don't recommend.
He's a horrible lecturer (ppl would read the notes while in his mandatory lectures because he was so bad). You'll have to teach yourself all content. But, his tests are easy if you study, and he's very caring, flexible, and accessible outside class. I barely learned anything, but I got an A pretty easily. Participate 1-2x per class to get points!
Tough grader and an unsophisticated professor, although he does know his stuff just presents it a way that is bland and hard to follow. Also isn't on top of inputting grades in so you won't know what you have in the class until it is too late. One word; avoid.
Marketing is definitely not supposed to be one of the harder Marshall classes but somehow Perner made it one of the hardest. Most of the concepts are common sense but he grades so hard and biased that it makes this class extremely difficult. To put things into context, I got an A in 351 and in 306 but did not get an A in this class. Avoid!
You will not learn anything and not get an A if you take him. I repeat You will not learn anything and not get an A if you take him. Read the reviews, ask around, meet him, you will see what I mean. Goodluck.
Perner's lectures are pretty dry and heavy, but his slides are very helpful and easy to follow. I can tell that he tries to make things easy and less stressful to students by giving us a very detailed study guides and grading criteria. There are no surprises or trick questions. Do what he asks to do and you will get an A.
He is meticulous about everything which is great when it comes to the syllabus but it can still get confusing because he puts so much emphasis on participation (which is unclear). He drones on and on and on in lectures and it is super hard to pay attention. He knows his content and is knowledgeable. The discussions are still somewhat interesting
Extremely kind man & very insightful course. Very open to extending deadlines to accommodate and truly not a lot of work in the first place.
It was surprising to see some of the low ratings. Yes, it is not one of the most interesting classes but Professor Perner is great. He really cares about his students and does many things to make our lives easier. Go to his office hours if you have any questions or papers that you want to be checked. His lecture notes are also great.
Terribly boring, and participation is a big part of the grade. Simply regurgitates slides. Avoid.
If you study for the tests and go to class, you will get an A. The criteria for the class is very clear and the tests are not too hard and easy to understand. I am very happy I picked Professor Perner for BUAD307!!
Very straight foward with his grading. Constantly updating you as to where you stand. Lectures are dry but interesting. To do well in class, study before the two exams, and participate in class, since he keeps track of every time you speak. Many students did not attend class so that's probably didn't do as well as they could have.
Perner is so sweet and very accessible outside of class! He was one of my favorite professors this year. Midterm and final are closed-book, but they are easy to do well on if you thoroughly understand the concepts. Talk in discussions because he keeps track, and it can make a difference between an A and A- in some cases.
I would avoid taking this class. Class is only graded by a few things.
Prof. Perner is a nice guy, the content as a whole is just very banal unless you know that you want marketing to be your emphasis. Midterm, final, and applications paper is basically your whole grade for the semester; participation does matter significantly as well so keep that in mind during discussion.
Unpredictable and unorganized. Teaches outdated marketing from the 2000s it seems like..it is a shame he didn't incorporate any relevant marketing practices or techniques. Gives grades out last minute and doesn't allow you to discuss it. Avoid at all costs
Nice man but stuck back in the 2000's. Has used the same lectures since 2004. Do not recommend
TWO THINGS TO KNOW: 1) Very personable and approachable. 2) Boring Lectures. Lars is a very good professor, a fair to easy grader, and loves talking with students. Be prepared for very monotonous lectures, but make sure to participate in discussions, STUDY ALOT for tests, and start the project early and you should get a good grade.
Very nice person but lectures could be bit boring. Not a lot of homework. Course wasn't too difficult given you studied the exam prep material thoroughly.
This class was a breezeeee. Just read through all the slides before exams and you are set. If you just want to fulfill a class requirement, then Perner is a solid prof. Like most people, I didn't attend lectures but you should try to go to discussions since participation is 10% of your grade. Final project is not a group project, which I liked.
I really loved having Perner for BUAD 307 and 100% recommend him!! The midterm and final are straightforward and simple as long as you do the practice exams he uploads on blackboard. You should participate in discussions as he keeps track and you get a participation grade. Perner is super accessible outside of class and will give extensions!
highly recommend him for 307. midterm and final are extremely straightforward. The guy is super nice and obviously cares a lot about his students. make sure to participate once or twice per discussion and you'll be good. and go to lectures bc he takes attendance via questions of the day.
Really terrible job of explaining the material and makes the lecture worthless. Can teach yourself everything in 1 day that he rambles for hours on. Not understanding of or responsive to any issues either. Really recommend you avoid Perner.
PARTICIPATE!!! he gives you notecards with your name, and he gives you points based on that for participation. His lecture notes are all made available, and he has notes explaining them in the pdf version (plz use those they are so helpful). He is super flexible as long as you communicate with him. Study for the test they are hard!
lectures are completely useless. discussions you only need to go for participation points. exams are easy if you memorize the slides well. other than that not too much work and textbook is not required
Very boring lectures and even more boring discussions. Only graded on a few things. If you are dumb and a bad student he will bless you with makeup assignments or even extra points on midterms. Pretty unfair for diligent students because of Marshall curve. We are in college kids shouldn't need to be hand held.
It is clear that Professor Perner really cares about marketing and his students. The class is well-organized and grading criteria is clear. The class is pretty much common sense for the most part. He gives random "difficulty points" for those who did poorly, which is kind of a penalty for those who did well. Can be frustrating. Participate.
Lars is the absolute best professor. he is genuinely so sweet & actually cares about his students. if you miss discussion you can do a make up assignment to get credit back. would 10000% take his class again. for the mid term & final, go through the checklist that he puts up - if you know everything on that you'll be more than okay.
Very nice guy and cares about his students. Lectures are very long and hard to follow, but make sure you attend and participate in discussions because he keeps track. Read the summary notes for tests and you'll be prepared.
Literally such a good course. The lectures are kind of long, however, they are mandatory for participation. The tests are straightforward, read the study note powerpoints. Definitely participate during the lecture. He's so mommy bagel, I love him
Never went to lectures. Just make sure you memorize all the terms for midterm and final and read the Contagious book. Also participate in discussions. Very easy
Such an angel man, just goes on tangents but the class is a breeze if you read the presentation summaries every week and participate in discussion. Easy A and really understanding if you email him for anything. His lectures can be a bit boring though
Very passionate about marketing. If you like marketing. take it.
Very boring professor
He is a very nice person, but an extremely boring professor. Felt like I was wasting 4 hours a week. Very easy course: he gives extra time for EVERY assignment. Take this if you don't care about learning the content and want an easy A.
Easy class. Very understanding professor, gives a week grace period for every assignment. One of the most kind souls at Marshall. Lots of complaints about how boring and useless his lectures are, which is true I have to admit. But if you're like me and only care about your grade, he is your choice. Highly recommend.
Genuinely one of the most boring classes at USC. Will give you 5$ if you manage to learn a single thing.
Professor Perner is brilliant! Very organized and clear about all gradings. The required reading material is explained carefully in discussion session with clear guidance questions. Lecture notes come with annotations! This BUAD 307 needs to write an application essay (i heard some of other prof don't ask for this) but it's not hard! Very inspiring
Boring lectures (bc you get the slides and their notes) but you need to attend them & discussions for participation grade. But Perner is genuinely very interested in marketing and cares about students. Because of the clear grading criteria and 1 week extension for all assignments, it is easy to get an A in the class if you study well for the exams.
Very cute professor, but his accent makes class a bit bland. He tries to tell some jokes and be engaging in class. A lot of work toward the end of the semester, but manageable. Go to his office hours to get good advice and you will get a good grade.
Professor Perner is clearly passionate about marketing and teaching. His lectures can drag sometimes but overall it is a good class. He is super chill and gives extra time for all assignments. The work isn't bad and the the tests are not too difficult. He does grade on participation but it is not hard to add to the conversations in discussion.
Prof is very nice and understanding. Graded on midterm, paper, final. Problem is prof gives a higher curve to ppl who did worse on the tests, which brings the raw class avg up and makes it hard to get A bc of marshall curve. To get A, study slides very well so you can perform well on both the midterm and the final - margin for error is super low.
Lars is extremely kind and very knowledgeable about his subject- but the class is just plain boring. Participation is required which leads to sometimes half of lecture just being taken up by students saying the same thing over and over again. Tests are super easy though- just make sure you know the terms on his study guides.
Professor Perner is attentive and caring. During Zoom university, he taught each single TA section. I highly recommend him for 307. You won't regret it!
Fun Class. The material makes sense; however, there is a long research paper that is annoying. The lectures can be boring at times, you also have to be in lectures to receive credit. If you come to class, it is an easy A.
Lectures may be boring, and practically aren't needed since he posts a description of each slide for every lecture. However, discussion is required and participation is graded, so read the Contagious book and be ready to raise your hand. One con is that because participation is graded, lots of people raise their hand, so try to get his attention.
Attendance is graded, even though it doesn't initially seem like it. Midterm and final were very easy and if you learn the study guide they're easy A's.
Attendance for lectures and discussions is graded, and participation matters. Outside of that, everything is pretty easy if you keep up with the materials and read the book for discussion. Exams are easy. He is very inspirational and I actually liked this class more than other BUAD classes with prof with a higher rating.
Very caring Professor, lectures are not so engaging but easy to follow. Overall easy class, if you read the texts and review before tests it's hard to not get an A. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lower workload while getting a good grade.
Lectures are painfully boring and you can basically study these slides yourself before the test. The class is an easy A as long as you study. Participation matters because you are required to raise your hands and speak in discussions to get participation points (unless you don't care). Perner is an easy grader as long as you follow the samples.
Professor Perner is a great teacher who really cares about his students. He takes the time to listen to everyone's perspective and gives a lot of resources to make sure you succeed in the class.
If you're considering taking BUAD 307, definitely go with Perner. He's super approachable and always willing to help out if you have questions. Expectations are clear from the start. The exams are fair too, so it's really manageable. Take him if you can.
While the lectures can be dry, the class is pretty straightforward if you stay engaged. Participation is graded, so be prepared to contribute. unstuck ai and the textbook are great study aids. Overall, an easy A with the right approach.
He's great. Super smart guy and doing well in his class is extremely attainable.
Perner is a really nice guy, he gives lots of feedback, the lectures are boring but if you pay attention you will learn a lot in his class, attendance is required. Midterm, applications paper and the final. No home work or quizzes.
He is an amazing professor. He really cares about his students and will give extra credit if you ask. Make sure to pay attention in lectures (although boring) and participate in discussion. He gives slips occasionally in lecture and always in discussion so make sure to do those and turn them in. Also make sure to read the book Alchemy it's on exams
Genuinely one of the kindest professors in Marshall; he actually wants you to succeed. Easy midterm and final, plenty of options to make up missed attendance/assignments, and flexible office hours. Cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoyed his class!
Lars was an amazing professor who is super accommodating and helpful. Although the lectures are boring, he tries to make them interesting for everyone. Participation does matter, so make sure you speak in discussion based on the reading. There's weekly reading, a midterm and the final, and a 7-10 page paper at the end of the semester.
This professor is an amazing professor that deserves more credit, there's only two tests, two papers, online certification, and some weekly readings. Participation matters in discussion but its not at all difficult. Lecture's are boring but tests are pretty easy and he gives summary notes for everything.
Definitely take Lars if you can. He was amazing and deserves more credit. The lectures can be boring, but he makes jokes to make it more relatable and interesting. 1 midterm, 1 final, and a 7-10 page paper at the end of the semester. He provides examples for every assignment and is very flexbile if you need extra support. Highly recommend!
Lars is empathetic and caring. It's genuinely difficult to not like the man. However, he's very boring.
It's boring, but he's such a sweet guy, gives people a lot of second chances and opportunities to do well. on the downside, you have to do really well on the exams and paper, but it's super straightforward
Perner is a great professor for 307. 7 - 10 page application paper, a one page interdisciplinary paper, and a midterm and a final. Lecture is boring but very important as that is where a lot of the midterm / final questions will come from. If I wasn't as busy this semester with other extracurriculars, I believe I could have gotten an A. Take him!
The most boring class ever. Im really interested in marketing so I thought this class would be a breeze. IT WAS NOT. He seems really sweet but he genuinely could not have made this class more boring. I would recommend taking another professor if you have the option.
Lars is sweet but these are the most boring lectures i've ever been too. Genuinely was contemplating life when I was sitting there. Exams are hard and paper is graded rather ambiguously. Would take a diff prof
Love him! His classes are a little boring, but you can learn a lot of useful knowledge from them. Participation matters, but they are from the readings and little in-class questions of the day. Exams are straightforward based on his notes and the guidelines provided for exams. Paper grading is generous if you follow the sample essays. Easy one!
As many have stated, very dry lectures. Class was easy, however, beating the curve to get an A-/A was challenging. My main gripe lies in the fact that the final project was graded rather ambiguously with no explanations or comments regarding what I lost points on. Besides this, this is a fairly easy class where you can expect to earn at least a B.
It's hard to participate, everyone just repeats each other. He is a nice guy, but I would not take again. My friends with other teachers had much better experinces.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! One of the kindest and wisest professors I have ever had. He teaches the class in a way that ensures you don't memorize the material but thoroughly understand it. Utilize office hours, as he is happy to help and gives very useful and insightful feedback. Class participation can be challenging, but allows paper as a substitution.
This guys not it. If you want to sit through boring lectures go ahead.
Bad lectures monotone. And beware in the syllabus he uses white text to catch the use of AI, beware know people that got caught.
Not up to date with marketing knowledge... reads from slides not interesting at all. He makes very simple assignments seem extremely complicated. Caution.
Difficult to pay attention in lectures but as long as you do well on midterm, final, and paper, you will get an A. I'm not a Marshall major but this class was definitely manageable.
A in class: Memorize ALL summary notes, drill practice exams, memorize alchemy, go to class to get attendance credit. Write 5 of the alternative write ups for participation if you are shy (i got 100 on participation didnt raise my hand) ask for feedback on paper before turning in. HIS TESTS ARE SUMMARY NOTES! hes so sweet and helpful just shy!!
Overall nice professor, but lectures and discussions are extremely painful to sit through. Tests are based on mostly comprehension and some memorization. Make sure you look at his summary notes, do practice exams, and read alchemy. Uses similar questions on exam and final. As long as you somewhat participate in discussion, you'll get credit.
He is a very nice person and if you prepare for the exam based on instructions you will be fine.
He's really nice, just study the study guide and you will be fine
A decent professor if you're just there to get a good grade. There are few exams and they're all very straightforward and follow the many practice problem resources he provides. A little big unengaging during lecture and in discussion, and he pretty much puts everything on the slides so class often feels redundant. He's very kind, though!
omfg he is the nicest and most understanding professor i've ever met at usc. his class is straightforward, go through the lecture notes and alchemy questions for discussion and you will be fine for the tests. lecture can be kinda boring but you don't have to go, you do have to go to the discussion though.
