That teacher is the worst ever. first,she doesnt know what she is talking about.second,she dosent know how to explain so she reads from the book. third,if u dont write down every single word she says durning the lecture"or if u dont memorize the chapters" u have nop chance to pass the exams.if u already decided to take her class,congrats!ur gonfail
I really love this teacher. She is soo sweet. Its pretty easy to understand her even though she has an accent. I have her for lab and her labs are extremely fair. She will check over your work and help you get the right answers before you turn it in. You probably won't like her if youre an idiot cause she will tell you when youre a dumbass
she is horrible, you can't understand a word she says and her tests look nothing like her review. you could know everything she teaches and the entire book and you will still fail the test.
Horrid, awful, terrible and any other word you can think of for lousy is the way to rate this teacher. The only way you can pass is if you are one of those people with brains who can remember everything after studying it once. If you can't do that, don't waste your time or money with her because she's the worst...
DON'T DO IT! Quick! Transfer if you can! I could do her job for the same ammount of money. She doesn't teach she babysits! And to top it off attendance is mandatory! I learned more just by reading the lab manual than I did in her class.
she's very nice but very tough..a lot of work to memorize..the classes average on her first exam was a 60%..she can be very helpful but whats the point when you honestly dont understand anything.she has an indian accent but its reasonable.again, shes very nice but it was a very tough course.good luck!
SO SUPER NICE!! We all had a great time in her class!! To whoever left the negatives, you gotta realize THIS IS COLLEGE NOW...not high school. You have to study. Do you homework and come to class and you will do great. Big group of us in there & all did well in her class. She even will stop in the hall and say hi and see how your doing. GREAT LADY!

she is funny,nice,and cute.her labs are so easy.you get 2 points for attendance so that helps.she answers any question you have and explains the labs really well.the only bad thing is she cant talk that clearly but i would still take her...you get used to her accent.seroiusly take her.

don't take this teacher. we started off with 24 students and only 9 took the final and 3 out of the 9 got a none transferable grade. i used the book, her notes, notes online, and group study and still got a C in the class. dont take her.
loved her! a bit hard to follow her accent at first, but after a few sessions it becomes a non-issue. mandatory attendance but you get 12 points on every lab exam just for showing up! didnt need the book at all. just took notes from her powerpoint and was fine. very helpfull if you asked REASONABLE questions. SHOW UP ON TIME OR YOU WILL FALL BEHIND
I found her class a little challenging because you actually have to study, but if she doesn't go ove something in class, it will not be on the test. She is a great teacher that I would take again. I think those who give her a bad rating, just do not want to study. Take notes and you will be just fine.
Dr. Moragoda was a great professor and I learned more in this Bio class than any other science class in college. Her class WAS more challenging, but you learn a lot. Her lectures are very clear and she gives lots of time to get down all of the notes before moving on. You will need to study a little more. I am taking Micro just to have her again!
Horrible teacher! She will not work with you!Getting a perfect score is impossible. For Microbiology, she only gave 3 tests, including the final. Each test had 5+ chapters but were only 100 or so questions long. She would not go over the tests or take time to discuss anything! Don't risk dropping your GPA or losing out on money!

DO NOT TAKE. All she does is throw up powerpoints and read them word for word. She simply throws the information at you and does not help you learn it. She is of Indian decent and her English is fairly clear, but she lacks in communication skills. If you take her, be prepared to learn things on your own without any kind of guidance.

Dr. Moragoda was a very difficult professor. She covered a broad range of material in a very short of time. She teaches solely from power points from the book, but discourages students from printing them before class. Several times during lab she told me I had the best work in the class but always gave me a C. Not an easy grade to earn.

I am currently taking her course and she is rude. She is disrespectful and it seems as though her intentions are to fail instead insuring that her students have an understanding of the material. She is useless in lab and disrespects students because they either make a mistake or ask a question. It is sad to know that HFCC allows such a teacher.
I can't believe these comments. She is a great techer. The class is hard and requires more study than an entry level course but she is very helpful and knows her stuff. The lectures are nicely paced. There were people in the class that admitted to not studying and at the same time were upset at their low grades. Give it theeffort & its easy.
Dr Moragoda's lecture is clear and organized. She never talks about anything irrelated to the class so you can learn a lot from her. BIO251 is not an entry level class so if you want a good grade, you have to put it effort.
This class was no joke. she isnot healpful at all she says study off the notes no need for the book then u get the test it looks like a foreign language. I can hardly understand anything she says. Nothing personal nice lady but I would never take her again.
She is a great teacher. Very clear. Test based on notes ONLY. Tells you exactly what you need to know for exam. You do have to study your notes thoroughly. She's also very understanding. She answers questions in a concise manner. If you are a dedicated student you will do well in her class, no extreme efforts are necessary.
Nice lady, the class is upper level and does have a lot of information. If you study her notes you will do great. She gives study guides that are clear and her exams are based off of her study guide and notes. The lab is fun, easy, and you really learn from it.
Lathika is fair all around. If you read her notes thoroughly, you will pass the class. She kind of dictates the notes from power point which is weird at first but you will be thankful because the information is heavy. As for Lab, you have to know your results and understand your organisms. She is accommodating but you have to show interest.
Wonderful teacher. Her class is hard, studying everyday is a must considering she only has 3 exams through out the entire semester. Her lab's are short and sweet, never went the entire time but her lab quizzes are monsters under your bed! She's a really nice person who would be more then willing to help her students in family related crisis times.

Lab quizzes and exams are unnecessarily specific and tricky and she expects you remember everything you study and read.Hard to understand her. Doesn't drop or curve anything. The class itself is very interesting, but I would not recommend her if you have other options. Don't only go the study guides, use the practice ?'s at the end of each chapter.
Worst prof. for Microbio. While the class is extremely interesting she will bore you with her lack of enthusiasm. She's very rude and isn't clear as to what to expect on lab and lecture exams. When asked how can I you better understand any particular area of the class, she'll tell you to study more as if you're not already studying hard. Stay away
My GPA is a 3.7. I took this class because it is my final pre req for my graduate program. The material isnt difficult, but her tests in both lab and lecture are tricky. She gives study guides but they wont help you much. She is nice but dont expect her to cut you any breaks. She will simply tell you to study more. I ended up dropping.
I've just finished this class. She is not an easy teacher. I had a 3.93 GPA for my Bachelor degree coming into this class ). She is a very tough grader. Her review for the test is very broad for very specific questions. After people dropped there was 11 of us left. With my C I know of 4 other people I did better than. Not enough space to put it all

Take her if you want to say goodbye to your GPA and around a thousand dollars. Minimal opportunities to earn points and what opportunities you have, she will grade you as tough as possible. The questions on the few exams given are plagued with tricks. She is very counterproductive to learning. Worth the extra money to take elsewhere.

I nearly failed my other classes from how much time I spent studying for this class. I put in so much effort, took all the notes, studied the notes and her guides. NOTHING. She has the heaviest accent, no enthusiasm, only 3 lecture exams, and ALL her tests (lecture and lab) are tricky! She expects us all to have doctorates in biology

I regret not dropping this course. I had a 4.0 before this class and she has ruined that for me. I would study weeks in advance for her tests just to fail. She expects you to know the material, but seeing how this is an introductory class I don't understand how I'm suppose to know it. The best score I got on her tests was a B-. Run Away!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ask her a question and she'll tell you the wrong answer and you will end up studying the wrong material for her impossible exams, worst experience ever. First class I ever failed, which was her goal.
Absolutely horrible experience with this lady. I got a D in bio because of her. I failed every single one of her exams because she never taught a thing. Go ahead, ask her a question; she'll either ignore u, give u the wrong answer, or tell u that u should already know it based on lecture (which has nothing to do with lab). Her goal is to FAIL YOU.
Horrible, horrible professor. I'm usually great in science so it was unusually for me to fail. I studied for every test and ended up failing. I only did good on the labs. Exams are set up to fail. It's like a foreign language no matter how much you study. The notes and study guides aren't even on the tests.
Other option? TAKE IT. However, if you're stuck with her, be ready for A LOT. GO TO CLASS, take notes and fully complete the study guide then read both over and over again and you should be fine. I did that (as in 4 times each) along with all of the end of chapter summaries and questions in the book and boom, A. Def. not easy esp. w/other classes.
This IS a 200-level microbiology course, you can't expect it to be easy. The last time I had her, your grade was based on 3 lecture exams, 3 lab exams, and 1 paper. But I took her a second time and she split up the material to 4 lect & 4 lab exams. It's a hard class and she doesn't drop anything. DO THE PRACTICE QUESTIONS AT THE END OF EACH CHAPTER

Dr. Moragoda was alright although I wouldn't take her class again. Her accent is heavy, but not to the point where you can't understand her at all. She does help when you need it but when she explains what you need to study for her exams, she does a horrible job.
I honestly loved this class. She is very detailed in her lecture, and lab. Her test are challenging but they come straight from her lectures and the book (do the chapter questions) for exams. She is very enthusiastic about the material. I like this class so much because I actually LEARNED so much!! She has a cute since of humor too. )

She is a very boring professor but she is actually very sweet and caring. I never read the book except for quizzes. Her exams really are not that difficult. I studied a few hours before and still got a B+ overall, so if you actually study an A is possible. There's no extra credit besides for a few extra questions on exams.
She made the class harder than it is. Her tests are tricky!!! The lab is disorganized, no clear information on the procedures. Many times she did not follow the procedure intstructions on the lab manual. This is coming from 4.0 gpa student. all students were frustrated with her in our class. Take at your own risk. My first B in college.
I had her for lab and she constantly gave me the wrong answer to questions. When I asked a question she'd give me this blank face and start reading the lab manual which doesn't give you enough information to actually study for her impossible exams.
Shes a great professor, just needs to curve the class in order to have students pass with As. If you reread the lecture notes over and over again, make charts and diagrams, then you can get a decent grade. Also for quizzes, she tells you what to study exactly (2-4 pages in the book) so theres no reason not to get a perfect score. Caring lady!
The ONLY time you should take her is if you have no choice, other than that save yourself the trouble and do not take her at all
Where do I begin, I think never struggled more in my life for an A. Don't get me wrong this was my overall grade with lecture which saved my soul. lab on the other hand made me feel like a cat with 9 lives.

She makes it extremely difficult to pass. She makes you feel like an idiot for not knowing how to do something in Lab. The lectures are straight from the PPT slides and super boring. She grades very tough. She expects everyone to be Microbiology majors. Very little extra credit given. The quizzes have nothing to do with anything read in Lecture.
The worst professor I have taken during my whole college career. I was shocked once I heard she has a PHD. She does not teach her class. Does not help you when you ask questions, she literally told me "I don't know the answers" and walked away. I am paying out of pocket for a professor to sit there?...
The class is difficult because its a 200 level class and its a lot of material. But the instructor is very sweet and understanding. She tries to help you if you ask. She explains everything and takes her time to re explain if you dont understand.
A very, very tough grader. When it comes to grades she can careless and actually enjoys giving a bad grade. Shes a nice lady but when it comes to teaching shes horrible. Highly recommend you dont take this class with her and find someone else. A bad rated teacher for a reason so I dont have to say no more.
I had for lab and all I have to say is just don't take her at all you will hate your life, every day will be a nightmare. if there is no other teacher teaching this subject then don't take it at all unless you really want to deal with daily stress. It's unbelievable she's the only professor that teaches BIO 251 at HFC. Save yourself from her it's like going into hell. She makes lots of mistakes and doesn't take any responsibility. She makes her exams so hard and doesn't give enough time. Her exam questions are there to confuse and trick you. DONT TAKE HER, all my classmates are also failing.
Don't take her, She CANNOT TEACH she just reads off the book and can even answer your questions & gets mad at you when asking her something. She was the only teacher teaching I regret taking her. Her exams are so hard & nothing like what she teaches, questions are meant to trick you. And you cant go back to previous questions & not enough time. RUN

Dr. Moragoda is one of the best Microbiology professors, has an amazing style of teaching, places a huge effort to make microbiology interesting! it is inspirational to see a creative teacher paving the way for students to become the best healthcare workers, by building their knowledge base and empowering their leadership & communication skills.
I had her for lab and all I have to say is don't take her. Her exams were nothing like the labs. And she never explained to us why we got something wrong.

One of the worst professors that I have ever had. Don't take her whatever you do. She doesn't explain or learn anything properly. Her lab exams are so confusing because she never lets us know what to study exactly like the introduction or the experiments or the conclusions. Nobody comes to class because she's bad and makes you go from A's to an F.

I understand this is a 5 credit course but there was no reason she should be grading so harshly. if you have any other choice DONT TAKE HER. She does not explain things so teach yourself. She gives attitude. study everyday. you need to really understand every topic. Write everything down when you do the labs so you remember every detail. GOOD LUCK
DONT TAKE HER. want to know how much she hates her students. she literally told us the wrong pages for a incoming quiz and when we took the quiz no one knew any of it so we brought it to her attention and she said she would figure something out. SHE GAVE EVERYONE A 70% instead of just making a new quiz or letting us redo it.
This class was an easy A. Her lecture notes are straight forward but honestly not that detailed but I used the textbook to get more detail on a topic which helped a lot. Lecture exams are all multiple choice, and she posts review questions before each exam for practice which are 100% on the exam. This class just needs the time and effort.
I want to warn students who have good GPA. If you dont want your GPA ruined drop her course. Tough grader & sadly Awful treatment. Wish you all the best
Early College students this is for you, I think that this lab professor would be great if you're taking bio 131. She's really sweet if you do things right. Her lab exams are straight forward, if you go over the labs that you did then you have an easier time with the test.
She wont say if we have a quiz, is very easy to missed those. If you ask questions she would just tell you to read instead of explaining herself. The exams are so specific, and she is a though grader. In the last few weeks we didn't have to hand in any assignments and she still graded us without having turned in anything?? and took points off.
She's a sweet lady but has no idea what's she's doing. Multiple of our labs didn't work how they were supposed to and she blamed us everytime. You have to teach yourself in this class and her exams make zero sense if it wasn't for her class I would've had at least an A. Would never take her again.
Take another professor. Does not care about her students, gets annoyed or genuinely confused when you ask her questions. Doesnt seem to understand what shes teaching and has given me multiple wrong answers that Ive asked her to double check (which she allows for lab reports). Only reads off lecture slides and shames you if you miss a few classes.

No extra credit, 75+ questions on exams in an hour, very harsh grader, 10 minutes to do 7 written response quizzes, labs are so unclear and graded so harshly. A nightmare. first ever C im 4.0 student. she's so judgmental too/
She should not be teaching. She is unqualified and uninterested in her students' success. Ignores questions, and treats students with disrespect. Her grading is harsh & makes no sense. It feels like she sets students up to fail on purpose. This class was a nightmare from start to finish. If you care about your GPA or mental health, stay far away.
DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES, she did everything to give me and everyone else a low grade, she'd do an in class assignment every time and she'd just give 3/5 no matter what you answer, even if it's all correct she'd give a random excuse like you copied a GROUP work or the answer is irrelevant, her explanations are bad so again DONT!!!!
She isn't a very good professor - I currently have her for lab and her instruction is somewhat hard to understand, and she's definitely a very harsh grader. I don't think I've gotten 100% on any of the assignments (other than the ones auto-graded online) she's given because of that. She will find something to mark off. Also lacks helpful feedback.
