Notes given are way too easy compared to the homework given, and the online assignments are not helpful at all... Her activities given are alot harder then the assignments given and her tests as well have materials that have not been practiced. Not a very good teacher.... Lots of independent study if you don't want to get frustrated.
GREAT TEACHER, AND SHE CARES ABOUT THE STUDENT!
I took her online developmental math course, and I am glad I did. I didn't actually need any help in the course, but she graded assignments in a fast manner, and all the work matched up with the homework and tests.
She is an awesome prof, who does care about her students. She will help in any way she can except do your work for you! Great Prof.
I took her for Business Calculus and she seemed like she did not care how the class was doing at all. She doesn't return e-mails, nor does she help when needed. Instead she tells you to go get tutoring. Our class average for the first test was a 55% and for the last a 39%. Her syllabus explains she expects 16 hours a week spent on her course.
I am not a math person but she is excellent at explaining things!
Tests are >>TOO LONG<<<. Most people do not have time to finish. There isn't enough time to put in quality work on them. They are also much harder than practice problems and homeworks. She grades pedantically and unfairly. I had a 4.0 GPA going into this class and now I might not even pass it. Think hard before signing up.
Terrible teacher, she is bad at responding to e-mails and is unreachable by phone, overall would NOT recommend taking her class. Also experienced many problems with the online interface she used (with no chance of fixing anything because she is incommunicato).
I took Into Business Calc. She was available to talk to after hours and very understandable. I spent a lot of time at the math lab and at the study sessions that were available. I enjoyed this class and the teacher knows her material.
She doesn't not respond to any form of communication at all. She is unreasonable with her assignments (the online quizzes) having them due at 5pm before the majority of the students are even out of class for the day. She expects you to complete the quizzes before she teaches the material if you have classes through the evening. Do not take her!
Took her Online class, almost never returned emails, I didnt even register till the last day available and she gave me zeros on the 3 assignments that were due 2days earlier then UNAVAILABLE to make up. i learned more from ALEKS than I ever did from her. pretty useless to have a professor that doesnt help you at all.
She was the most unhelpful teacher I've encountered. I went to her for help multiple times and she was so rude and short. I asked her for private tutoring and she said she didn't know any. She obviously does not care about her students. She should not be teaching!
She is by far the worst math teacher i have ever had. The class was ridiculously hard and only 7 people in my class passed out of the original 30. Math tutors cannot help with the homework she viciously hands out and does not answer questions with any help in class or by email. If you must take this class take it somewhere else besides with her
Worst professor I've ever had, period! Limited feedback is given on assignments, grading between homeworks and exams is inconsistent, tutors are unable to explain homework problems and the amount of homework assigned is ridiculous. I don't intend to take her class again.
This was the absolute worst course I have encountered in my entire college experience. The amount of homework handed out is enough to substitute a part time job. Response from the instructor is minimal at best. Even doing all the homework and studying vigorously, you'll be lucky to pass. Take this course elsewhere, you'll be happy you did.
Worst professor i've ever had... Barely passed my second time around. I wouldn't advise anyone takes her class. I don't think she understands the concepts as well as some of her students.
Though the class was tough the instructor gave all of the information you needed to do well. She gave a structured class with the deadlines and notes and if he asked for help she was there. Often times I had questions outside of office hours and she was willing to help me. She also gave extra credit which brought me up half a letter grade.
The assignments were spot-on, but there is a ton of it. MyMathLabs and ALEKS were used as well as a book, DVDs and the Blackboard discussion board. This was my first class online, so that may account for why it was so tough. If you want to learn, though, you can NOT go wrong with the method of combining both MyMathLabs and ALEKS. You WILL learn :D
It is the absolute worst class I have ever taken in my career as a college student. She marks you down for petty things, she is unprofessional and impossible. Never in my life would I put the burden of this class on my worst enemy. I am completely shocked she still is a professor, because I can honestly say she was the worst I have ever had.
Professor Bowmans communication is terrible. Your lucky to get an email response within a week if at all. Bar none the worst Math instructor I have ever had.
So. Much. HARD. Homework. Toughest grader ever. LONG tests, good luck finishing! SO many topics covered, no time to learn. Complex problems that NEED a calculator for no reason. Thankful for an awesome tutor who taught me this class! So much time, twice any other class, and still might not pass. No C- given. 73 and lower is a fail. Impossible! SOS!
Latrice Bowman is a great teacher, she works with you and adjusts to your learning abilities!! I would like to take a class with her again!!
Awful
SOOO glad to be done. Had HW & a quiz every day, M-F, w/ tight deadlines. Add exam corrections to do+video lectures to watch+chapter readings. This class took up most of my time. She had ridiculous due dates for returned proctored exams, which were hard. Doesn't reply back to all emails. Her syllabusscary warning. Save yourself. Take someone else!
Honestly the worst professor I have ever had. She's extremely rude and unhelpful, even her homework is nothing like the lectures and forget about the tests.
Very difficult class unless you are already good at calculus. She's a very nice person, but not the best teacher if math is not your forte.
Latrice is super nice and funny and is very willing to help you out if you have questions. The main issue with her class is the amount of work she assigns. You typically have around 8 assignments to do (in calculus 1) per week and the class is every day. Overall, her lectures are well organized and due dates for assignments are clearly laid out.
Absolute worst teacher in Alaska. I took this class online with her. Homework and quizzes are due each day, starting from day 1. She tells you to start them before they are due which is impossible since they are due starting the second day of class. She will not answer question or email you back. You have to find your own resources . I got a B tho.
Noone should take this teacher. No response to emails, no communication when struggling, homework takes up double the time for this class then my other two classes combined. Tests are not based on work practiced, she will take the hardest problems from each section for tests and they will not have been something EVER seen or practiced.
Do not take this professor. I had an extremely hard time during my course with her and asked my other friends who have taken her. ALL FEEDBACK WAS NEGATIVE. I agree. Overload of content, doesn't respond to emails, just repeats the same thing the book says during lecture. Overlly tough grader.
Bowman teaches very well in lecture, but there is a lot of homework. 2 assignments due each class. If you aren't prepared to spend almost all semester only focusing on mainly math, don't take her class.
She wasn't very accommodating. goes smoking fast through the lessons.
She . goes smoking fast through the lessons. She was tough not very accommodating and graded harshly.
The class wasn't inherently hard for me, but the structure Bowman teaches in is bizarre. Online homework was due at midnight after class, and it was for the most part what was in class, but around 25% of it is work you didn't learn and won't be tested on. The quizzes every class were on things you learned 1-2 weeks ago, which I did not like.
Prof. Bowman is a great math instructor. She takes time in class and outside of class to answer questions. I think if you enter this class prepared to work and kind of delve into math as a second language, that is the level of participation you should aspire to to do well. There is a good deal of homework, but also a good deal of extra credit!
I thought she was a great teacher. I had her for an online calculus class. She met with me online outside of her office hours and really explained concepts. Homework was reasonable and had opportunities for extra credit and to retake exams. Helped make Calculus understandable.
She is a very nice teacher but definitely tough on grading, attendance and lots of homework.
I took her Calc 1 course online. There is HW almost every day starting the first day. Lectures dont present enough of the material to be able to understand assignments and are not edited so a few of them cut out. She rarely gets back to you no matter how you contact her. I had to seek outside resources and basically taught myself. Take anyone else!
She is pretty difficult to follow. Doesn't really care if you can keep up. Overall pretty tough. I ended up dropping the class a few weeks in. I knew that I was not going to excel in her class. She is pretty attractive for a math professor, so that was a plus.
She is definitely challenging, but she is a good professor regardless. You HAVE to do your homework and she moves fast
Dr. Bowman has a lot of bad reviews on here, so I had doubts of taking her Pre-Calc class. The reviews made her seem like an awful teacher. I thought she was fine. She has the students in this class work int he ALEKS program at our own pace with deadlines to meet. We could get ahead. She gives good explanations in the tests and worksheets.
Latrice is a great professor who knows her course. As long as you are a student who can pay attention to lectures for about an hour you will do fine in this course. I personally felt that she cared for her students and wanted what was best for them. She gave us all helpful feedback and made tutoring readily available.
Work was done through Aleks program. Went from knowing very little math to having a comprehensive understanding by the end of the course. The professor gave status updates and advice on how to get the best grade as the semester progressed.
I was really hesitant to take this class after reading the reviews (I'm not sure why there is so much negative) but I'm happy that I stuck with it because Bowman is an amazing professor who offers a lot of feedback and explains everything clearly- be prepared for a lot of work (it isn't unreasonable, but can be time consuming).
Instructor? All of the content is self-taught and clarified through a TA; this instructor is inaccessible to the extent that every other resource (tutors, TAs, anything else) is pushed before consulting her. Buy the book with the WebAssign subscription and teach yourself at hometrust me, youll be better for it. Avoid if possible.
This teacher's class is the most difficult class I have ever taken. Everything I learned in this class was either self taught, or explained to me by a tutor. For the final there was no practice test, or even a study guide, and there were math questions over topics that we barely went over. I will not be taking a class with this teacher ever again.
This is definitely the most frustrating class I've ever taken. The instructor doesn't actually teach the class and is barely involved at all. Grading is insane, I've gotten less than 85% on assignments where I didn't get a single answer wrong. Midterm averages are around 50%, but there's no curves. Workload is 12+ hrs per week. Avoid if possible.
The online (hawkes learning) portion was good, but the written worksheets and midterms are awful! lots of questions that the online practice did not cover, and just plain wrong questions. A "sketch the graph" problem that contradicted itself, and was impossible. or a probability density function question were the function wasn't a Prob dens funct!
Yes this professor is difficult but if you use the resources provided and keep up with the h.w. and worksheets you are good to go. I took this online which probably made it way more difficult, so take it in person if you can! Tests were also very hard and the questions were some what different because she wants to know you understand the content.
It's math. People hate math. Bowman, however, loves math. She is a pretty serious professor and you'll need to do the homework in order to learn the material. But she does provide a lot of resources and will help you if you need it. Definitely one of the clearer math professors at UAF.
Took her Math 113x course this spring 2019. Do the written homework and study for exams by studying her quizzes. She makes her exams from the quizzes. If you don't go to class you get really behind. Try not to miss. She's okay with emailing back. She definitely wants people to learn. If you don't plan on studying, don't take.
I am an A student, the course load of her online class insane, much more than 10 hrs a week. I made appts and sent emails trying to do better and she doesnt want to sit down and actually talk with you about any of it. Her grading methods are grossly unfair.
If you can avoid this professor, I would strongly recommend it. The work load is absolutely insane and takes so much of your time. If I would have known what I was getting myself into with this professor I would have gone above and beyond to make sure I took this course with a someone else. Save yourself the crazy amount of stress.
Dr. Bowman has really good lectures, and presents information in an interesting way. However, her class is definitely not an easy A. Go into it with the expectation of spending a lot of time on the class if you want a good grade.
The workload for this class is absolute madness and the grading is absurd. All the homework is online-based, which means the instructor or TA does zero work in that regard, yet still impose heavy late penalties. You will teach yourself. You will put in 21+ hours per week to succeed in this class. Hawkes Learning, the instructional module? Garbage.
Latrice Bowman is nice, and she can be helpful if you request it. She will meet up with you on zoom for 1 on 1 meetings, which is cool. However, her calculus classes are incredibly hard. There is homework do every single day, which takes hours to complete, and then bigger assignments are due every Friday. There are also tests every other week.
We recently switch teachers because the old teacher got sick and she is the replacement. She refused to respond to emails and I sent multiple mostly asking about how to use grade scope because my previous Teacher did not use that website, she also changed the questions in test/exams to things that we didnt go over in homework or in Lectures.
Im a student in one of her classes that she is covering because my other teacher is out and she doesnt respond to emails and changed the system that we use to turn in work, exams, and test. Other students and myself included do not know how to use that new system. She also added problems to the exam that we have not gone over in homework.
She was a replacement for our other professor and it has been miserable. She hardly responds to emails and the class is set up entire differently. She has been grading things wrong and blows you off when you ask questions and just says to get a tutor when you've already done that. I will never take her for anything after this. 2020 is bad enough.
Worst professor I've ever had!! She gives 30 minutes of lecture videos (prerecorded at somepoint in time) per week which BARELY cover the topics you learn. Homework in HAWKES and Written are terrible. Written work is not graded fairly. Exams do not align with the material "taught". She is unprofessional in emails when you email or ask for help.
This was my 1st sem of college, and this class taken asynchronously and online for me. Professor Bowman was helpful when I reached out to her regarding an issue, but did not accommodate to late submissions at all and my grade suffered as a result. 50% reductions for a day late HAWKES certifications. Seriously? In high school I had a 4.0. AVOID!!!
Bowman is a MUST avoid professor unless you like spending 20+ hours on a single class only to have her treat you like an idiot. Bowman is extremely condescending and is two faced. In class you'd think she is amazing. One to one, she is horrible. If you think you are good at math, don't expect to pass. If you are bad at math, expect to fail. AVOID.
To start, this was a difficult class. she was available to answer questions and would allow me to set up times 1-1. Some classmates complained about the grading but I found the grading to be clear and reasonable and for the questions I had she was able to answer them or show me where I went wrong. I really liked knowing expectations from day 1.
Worst instructor ever! She will not accommodate you for nothing. She acts like she is the most important instructor at UAF. She is rude and does not care about anything you have going on in your life her syllabus is ridiculous. Do not take her math class you will be doing more work in her class than any other.
I had her for pre-calc and essential calc and I think she was fine. Her classes are a lot of hw and tests but there is a lot of opportunities for extra credit and class participation. Her extra credit bumped my grade up from a B+ to an A so try to do as much as you can. Copy her notes word for word and you'll do fine in her class.
So I read some of the comments and did not want to take this class. I found her course to be pretty well laid out, and the grading criteria very explicit. She was patient with me when I had questions and when asked provided more resources on content I didn't understand. Lots of homework, but I found that her schedule makes it manageable.
Dr. Bowman will literally force you to learn calculus if you want a good grade. She gives you the chance to take your unit exams over and over until you master the concepts. This was awesome. I would have failed the class if I didn't have a chance to learn from my mistakes. She has a lot of online material to work through. It is a workhorse class.
Harsh grader and tests every other week. On the Assessments (tests), the material differs from what we learned in the homework and lectures. She is very accommodating, though I got the time wrong for the final and missed it. Ms. Bowman allowed me to schedule a new time to take the last and helped me pass the class.
This course was tough but I was able to meet with her whenever I had questions or email what I was working on. It was a lot of work but her criteria for grading was given the first day of class and I liked that she had a schedule laid out for us. I was able to see when all of the due dates were and plan out study sessions which helped me succeed.
The tests seemed designed to make you fail. I studied harder than ever for the last exam, and still didn't do well, after more tutoring than I've ever gotten in my life. I did not feel prepared for any exam so far. The class itself seems controlling, with lots of strict deadlines. While she is nice, I would avoid Dr Bowman's classes.
only take this class if you like having a stack of homework every day. incredibly unfair grader. tests (assessments) are way too often. huge late work penalties. egregiously excessive use of emojis-- highly unprofessional. emails are also extremely unprofessional if she even responds. if you want to at least pass, say goodbye to your social life.
She started the semester by telling me that she expected her students to get C's on her tests, to get a B in her class and a C in calc. I had an emergency surgery in the middle of the semester and when I emailed her about it to ask for extensions on assignments that were due day of surgery and the day after surgery, I never heard back.
I normally do very well in my classes, but not this one. The grading was weird and there were at least 3 assignments a day that took me HOURS. I do not recommend.
Her grading method was convoluted and not well explained
Good person, the course is all other the place. Not much communication between TA's, student teachers, and professor, which made the course confusing. Each person taught math in a different style.
She expected you to do it her way even if you got the same answer then take away all points.
She grades her class on the mastery system which is super confusing and she doesn't do a good job of explaining it. You can ask her questions and her answers will vary day today. She is very hard to get in contact with she doesn't have office hours and doesn't answer emails. Good at explaining math, terrible grading system.
The other reviews about her grading system are very true. Her system is not well explained, and answers change throughout the semester. I debated Withdrawal several times due to inconsistency, and lack of communication (she will read emails but doesn't often respond). She's kind in person and knows the material. But you will rely on tutors.
So much homework that is very difficult to keep up with, and the Hawkes will mark your correct answers wrong if they aren't formatted exactly how she wants it. The professor was very passive aggressive when I reached out to her, and stop responding to emails all together right before finals season.
If you like pain, failure, agony, incompetence, suffering, torment, distress, misery, anguish, defeat, collapse, downfall, shortcoming, fiasco, torture, excruciation, affliction, despair, ineptitude, incapability, unskillfulness, inefficiency, and ineffectiveness, then Professor Bowman epitomizes all of these!
Latrice Bowman's ability to teach and be a professor is as real as a three dollar bill.
If you want to fail to learn Calculus 3 while ruining your GPA, I strongly recommend that you enroll in her class. She will not teach you while grading your test with a degree of subjectivity that transcends human imagination.
Horrible Professor. AVOID AT ANY AND ALL COSTS
Latrice Bowman is the WORST professor to exist on this planet. Since the dawn of time, philosophers have contemplated the existence of an absolute truth; however, the answer thereto has eluded them ever since. Latrice Bowman has finally settled the debate—that is, absolute truths do, in fact, exist, as evidenced by her absolute inability to teach.
Horrible Professor. Horrible Grading System. Horrible Exams. Horrible Lectures.
Professor Bowman is the antithesis of a good professor. She is atrociously bad at teaching. DO NOT ENROLL IN HER CLASS!!!
Hands down worst professor in the world imo.
Professor Bowman will grade your work with a horoscope while claiming to be “fair” and “forgiving” with her “Mastery-Based Grading.” She will randomly give 90% of students failing grades, all of whom are genuinely trying, and then claim that she is not the common denominator. She is a very bad professor.
Avoid this professor like the plague
Horrible teacher with little empathy. The only thing worse than her teaching is her subjective grading system. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
Extraordinarily rude and unprofessional. Does not respond to emails and is extremely subjective in her grading. Do not enroll in class unless you want to suffer (maybe ur into that it's 2025)
Arbitrary grading and messed up testing. She is horrible at teaching and does not care about you. She will never respond to emails and will gladly fail you while telling you that she is trying her best to “help” you
She has a completely dysfunctional grading system in which she randomly assigns subjective grades. Does not respond to emails and is extraordinarily unprofessional. Avoid this professor at any and all costs.
Undoubtedly the WORST professor in Alaska. She grades based off of her feelings, does not respond to emails and is very rude. She also has a very messed up grading system designed to make your life a misery. DO NOT ENROLL in her class!!!
Pick a good and start praying
Im in her Calc 3 summer class and her grading system is horrendous and inconceivably complicated. She grades very subjectively and can be very mean. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
She has a really messed up grading system and is sooooo rude. She will not hesitate to call you names and is incredibly unprofessional. She also grades based on how much she likes you under the pretext of ''Mastery-based Grading'', which allows her to arbitrarily grade her students. She does this intentionally. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
LMAOO what the others are saying is so true. She's super disrespectful and has an insane sense of entitlement. For your own sake (and your GPA's) DO NOT ever take ANY of her classes. I can explain why, but it would take about half an hour. Trust
She's so rude and never responds to anything. Grades on a whim and just doesn't care at all
Bowman pretends like she cares but will screw you over, never respond to any of your emails and grade you completely irrationally. She is not fit to be a teacher. Don't take her class
Don't take her. Just trust me. You'll thank me later
She's so rude and can't teach to save her life. She will ruin your GPA and does not care about her students
Awfully rude, unprofessional and mean. She will give you a bad grade for bo reason with her messed up grading system and laughter in your face
Her summer class is awfully annoying, difficult and boring. According to others, her normal classes are not much better. She's very rude and does not care about her students. Doesn't reply to emails and can't teach properly
What the others are saying is sooo true. Just don't take her class if you don't want to be insulted, degraded and cursed at while also getting bad grades for no apparent reason.
I'm in her summer class with some others and we just got our Midterms back and she literally gave everyone failing grades FOR NO REASON!!! When confronted, she proceeds to insult, berate and demean you. She does not care about you at all and I don't even know how's she's a professor
Summer course is horrendous. Bowman is so rude and just ignores you. I don't understand how she's even teaching. Exams are graded randomly and the graded system is even more messed up than her teaching. She also insults you when you try to clarify any issues
She's so bad at teaching and very rude. Ask anyone that had her and they will tell you that. I'm in her summer class right now and we are about halfway through. Everyone is either failing or withdrawing. She grades based on how much she likes you and her grading system is very messed up. She literally cannot reach
Taking her class has been frustrating. She doesn't explain things clearly, and when students ask questions, she often responds with attitude instead of helping. Overall, it feels like the course is more about trying to figure her out than actually learning the material.
There's no clear grading and she is really mean to her students. Homework is very long and complicated and she gets aggressive when asked about it. Overall, not a good professor
She teaches very poorly and will not explain or elaborate in anything. She also grades inconsistently. She is indirectly aggressive and often just ignores students. Overall, very hard to deal with and the course is just as bad
Very mean and she does not even teach effectively. You can tell she hates her job and she will show this by not caring, insulting her students and failing to teach
She's way too strict, petty and rude. Bowman also likes to insult her students while not teaching at all. She will grade subjectively and never help you, even when you reach out. She does not respond to emails and is never helpful.
She will humiliate you during office hours while passively making fun of you. She either can't teach or won't teach and takes about 4 weeks to answer basic emails. Her tests don't even relate to the material and her exams are even worse.
Figuring her out is the hardest part. She is never available, will yell at you and never give any constructive feedback. Her grading system is also really messed up, where she can give you random grades for no reason under the pretense of “mastery-based” grading. She is also very indirectly aggressive and unhelpful
I've always hated math from a young age. I've failed, but always persevered. Professor Bowman gave me the strength to give it up completely! Through her absolute rudeness and complete incompetence, she has managed to estrange dozens of students from math while claiming to not be the root cause. If you don't believe, then go see for yourself!!!
She comes across as very unkind and doesn't seem interested in teaching. It often feels like she doesn't care, and this shows in the way she talks down to students and doesn't explain things well
Quite possibly the rudest and worst teacher at UAF. She is mean to every student and is never available. She also has a flawed course that allows her to grade you randomly.
If you have to take Calc 3, take it though UAA or UAS and the transfer it over. Bowman will mess up your GPA while insulting and ignoring you all semester. She's not worth your money, time or sanity.
She comes across as really unapproachable and doesn't seem interested in teaching. It often feels like she doesn't care, and instead of helping, she can be rude to students and doesn't really explain things well
I have struggled with math from a young age and, despite repeated failures, continued to persevere. However,Professor Bowman's conduct ultimately led me to abandon the subject entirely. Her consistent rudeness and apparent lack of competence have alienated numerous students from mathematics, even as she denies any responsibility. Go see for yourself
Professor Bowman is a masterclass in how not to lead, teach, or even interact with other human beings. Carries herself with a superiority complex so inflated it barely leaves room for anyone else in the room. Empathy, humility, and basic professionalism? Nowhere to be found.
She never responds to any questions and just insults everyone. Her exams do not reflect what is taught and she will absolutely refuse to help you even if come to office hours
Certainly one of the worst professors I have ever had. She has a dysfunctional grading system and an even worse attitude. She will laugh at you while giving you failing grades for no reason.
She is very unprofessional and rude. She either doesn't want to teach, or doesn't know how to. Regardless, do not take your class if you intend on learning and progressing
Either this woman doesn't know how to teach, or she really just doesn't want to. So hostile for no reason and I noticed that she treated me different than other students and it may be race related but not too sure. PLEASE AVOID you will most likely have to drop the class because of how poor the professor is.
Her grading system is really weird and messed up. That alone takes half the semester to figure out. On top of that, she is very unprofessional and inattentive. She will take weeks to respond to emails and is very unhelpful
She is very and at teaching anything and will not help you, even when asked. Also, her grading system lets her screw you over randomly. She's just not a good teacher
Grades are just randomly assigned and she won't even explain it to you. Also it takes like 5 weeks to reach her and when you do, she will just insult you
Summer class is pretty much over and there's nothing this entire class can really do but warn others. Enrolling in her class will result in random grades with no explanation along with horrible lectures. Be advised
Rude, unprofessional and not helpful at all. She mocks her students and genuinely does not teach anythingz
She's very mean, grades randomly and does not give any constructive feedback. She also never replies to emails and is very unprofessional
She gives no partial credit, offers no explanations and just makes fun of you when you try to improve. Her lectures are horrible and her grading system is even worse. Take anyone else
Very rude and unprofessional teacher. She also does not elaborate on anything, even when asked. Having taken her class twice over the last two years, I can assure you that there is no rational person on this planet who would advocate for her class in good faith. Do not make the same mistake that dozens of others have.
Too much homework, incomprehensible lectures and no help even when requested. Take your math classes through UAA or UAS
Even if you are competent and hard working, she will still insult you and fail you. Just avoid her
Not only is she rude and inconsiderate, but she is also unfathomably bad at teaching and giving constructive feedback. She also uses a weird grading system where she can assign you virtually any grade for any reason, regardless of the quality of your work
Just don't
She literally failed 90% of her class due to her random grading. She also refuses to explain anything and just insults her students instead
She is a recent hire, but terrible at teaching and is incredibly unprofessional. She has a random grading system that allows her to subjectively evaluate you. When asked about this, she will either ignore or insult you.
Literally 95% of the class failed because of her random grading. She also yells a lot and does not respect her students
She literally failed half the class for no reason. She grades randomly and just yells at you when you ask for help or feedback
Very mean and doesn't help at all. She'll just fail you and everyone else and then laugh in ur face
Very boring and ineffective lectures and she doesn't respond to emails. She deducts points excessively for minor mistakes and will just ignore you when you ask for help
I took her online Calc 3. Lectures are drawn out, confusing, wordy, and downright annoying. Her mastery based grading system is as subjective and unreliable as a county fair psychic, and is dictated based on her personal feelings on the student rather than their work and effort. Take literally anyone else, but do not take ANY of her classes.
Very ineffective at teaching and is rarely available. When you do happen to reach her, she will ignore your questions and simply give you random grades
Be prepared to take quizzes and tests at least 2-3x- a week. She doesn't give good feed back and her grading system is confusing. Lectures barely help you learn and are confusing, she doesn't write equations step by step and skips steps. You can learn more on YouTube. Don't expect to get feed back on tests you'll just be marked for wrong answers.
Terrible grading system that she does not clearly explain Awful feedback Doesn't teach you have to rely on the material and when she does she skips steps. Tons of homework/timed quizzes Doesn't prepare you for exams at all This class made me want to jump off a ridge Can't think of anything good to say about her
Professor does not do a good job teaching, and the grading system is very confusing and was not explained well.
The grading system was so confusing. Assessments are exams. (Letter)(Letter)-(Number) for example GF-3 are quizzes. Do not skip one as I learned that one N (skipped or unrecorded)quizzes can literally fail or drive your entire grade down a whole lot. Grades aren't shown so you have to guess if you're passing or not.
I have always been good at math but I have never been more confused in this class. Her lectures are terrible and confusing, and her grading system is so unnecessarily confusing as well. She doesn't accept late work and one unsubmitted quiz can fail you if you don't do the retake. She also does not allow any calculators or any notes on assessments.
Material not conveyed clearly. Confusing grading. Poor attitude
Find any other math teacher if you can. She will make sure you put in the work. Theres no extra credit opportunities. If you receive a bad test grade, so goodbye to your entire grade. The grading policy is extremely confusing as well.
She failed nearly half the class without justification. Her grading is inconsistent, and she responds with hostility when students ask for help or feedback.
-unclear communication (about grading and school-wide issues) -confusing mastery-based grading -be prepared to study hard as there are no calculators for a good portion of classwork -Not entirely sure about how I went from a D to an A
