She is an awesome teacher and I was blessed to have her. Her first year here at Grand Canyon University and she inspired me to look into psychology. Very funny and she makes things so relatable. Made fall 2014 worth it. She is the type of teacher that inspires you to do better in everything and you do well because you don't want to disappoint her
I am so blessed to have had her for Psych 201! She was such a good teacher, and really inspired her entire class to do well.
Great teacher!
For a psychology teacher, you would expect them to understand you the most but they fail.
I loved the class and the professor! I had Chesniak-Phipps for lifespan development and I couldn't be happier with my experience. She is a great teacher who gives real-life examples, shares funny and subject-related stories, and cares about the success of her students.
She was an awesome instructor! I really enjoyed this class. She explained topics really well, is funny, and made lectures interesting. Very personable and helpful whenever you have questions. Study guides were provided for every test, which were not all that difficult. Pay attention in class and you will pass :)
Absolutely adore professor chesniak. She is a total sweetheart, and will help you if you ask for it. Very understanding.
Interesting course that I thought I would not like/need for my major. Lectures keep students interested. Some studying is needed for the biweekly quizzes. Class often has participation activities that are relevant to the material. Highly recommend Dr. Chesniak
Chesniak is great! She is very nice and genuinely interested in teaching her subject of interest. The class is an easy A if you show up and just do the assignments, study guides are given, and the material is simple. Great class and GPA booster!
Professor Chesniak is an awesome teacher who loves psych. I enjoyed her class, she makes her lectures interesting. She gives random participation, you have no tests for PSY 102 just quizzes every other week or so. It isn't too difficult, just be sure to pay attention to the lectures and attend as much as possible. I would recommend this class!
Dr. Chesniak is by far my favorite teacher so far! I really would take all of her classes because I understand her lectures crystal clear. In PSY102, you only have a couple of major assignments and quizzes every other week. The study guides are fantastic. She makes Psychology very fun and enjoyable! I actually like going to class!
She is a great teacher. She makes her lectures interesting. There is no midterm or final in this class. If you study based of the study guide provided you will do well on the quizzes. Come to class and you will pass.
I loved Dr. Chesniak! She explained the concepts very well, and she was also there for me personally in dealing with stuff. She is upbeat and energetic, and I loved that about her. Great professor!
I had her for an hour 45 minute lecture, and she made it painless. There was group discussion, interesting videos, and good subject matter. She gives study guides and posts slides, that make it super easy to pass her quizzes (there are no tests). She loves what she does and is fun to listen too. Our class was awesome.
I LOVED Dr. Chesniak!! She was so awesome and super helpful, she really cares about her students and goes out of her way to help you if you have any questions. She made the class super interesting and made the material easy to learn.
She's the most loving person ever and is super willing to let you have any help you'll ever need or want. She's there for you as a student and as a person and is so wonderful and clear and concise. Make sure to do your things on time though, her late policy is rough.
If I could take Dr. Chesniak for all of my classes I would! She was so helpful, very clear on her expectations and she did a great job of keeping the class interesting so the class went by fast! Participation does matter in this class, there is not much extra credit opportunity, but the quizzes are easy and the papers are too!
Dr. Chesniak is a great professor! She is nice, funny, sweet and becomes concerned when you are failing. What I did not like about her class was her teaching style. Most of the time we were put in groups and had to find information on a specific topic and present it in class and it would take a lot of time.
Dr, Chesniak is awesome! She is super sweet and energetic. She is passionate about her class and her students. I was in a class of about 100 students and she knew my name ,noticed when I got a haircut and when I was absent from class. I did well on the assignments & quizzes but participation is what killed by grade.
Make sure you do the study guides and you'll be fine. Her lectures are funny and she always provides example from her life which are sometimes helpful
This class was one of my favorite classes. Not only because it was very interesting learning the material but because Dr. Chesniak is a great professor. She gives great lectures and they are very specific. Exams are not that hard as long as you take good notes. She is a very friendly person and loves to help her students.
Dr. Chesniak is a really great professor. She really likes her job and you can tell. Tests are super easy, all the answers are straight forward. She gives study guides for every test too. Class is lecture heavy but overall an easy A. Plus, she's really funny! Loved her class.
The best professor I've had so far at GCU! She relates materials back to everyday life so it is very easy to understand the material. You can also tell she actually cares about each of her students.
Doctor Chesniak is amazing. She is super approachable, hilarious, and her class is not that hard. As long as you pay attention and study, you will pass.
She's honestly so great. She ties her lectures and the information to real life experiences. Her study guides are fantastic and very helpful. She is a great teacher and very understanding. She wants her students to succeed and it shows in the way she teaches.
She has good lectures but the grading is a little difficult. If you want an A you need to show up to class all the time and not be late. She is sweet but likes extra effort.
Her quizzes are easy and off her powerpoints. She provides study guides. EASY CLASS. However, you MUST show up to every lecture b/c participation counts a lot! 1 CLC, 2 mini papers, 1 EASY research paper. I would take her for everything if I could. She is a great prof and wants success for her students.
All you have to do in her class is show up take notes, take 30 minutes to do and review the study guide she gives you and youll pass. Anyone who thinks she isnt a good teacher probably just didnt show up to class. I put little effort in this class and still got an A+ She is seriously so awesome. If you have to option to take her definitely do it!!
She is a great teacher and really takes the time to help you understand the topic. She lectures pretty much the whole time but sometimes she lets out early. She lets you go early on test days. Just takes notes and study the study guide that she provides for you.
By far my favorite professor of my first semester of college! She makes every lecture really interesting and enjoyable. She is very helpful and very knowledgeable about her field. I would highly recommend this professor!
She's a great professor! Very knowledgeable about everything, especially for PSY-102. Quizzes are very easy, and she lets us do a lot of assignments in class and with groups. She's super nice, and class is actually fun to go to.
Dr. Chesniak is by far one of the best teachers I've had in college. She modifies assignments so that they are easier and can be finished in class. She gives study guides for her quizzes, tells you exactly what will be on the quizzes. Her lectures are interesting and she always has good stories to tell about her personal life that tie with lecture.
Chesniak is so awesome and made psych so much fun and I learned more than I ever did in my high school psych course. She keeps it interesting and engaging- fairly easy grader and always gives good feedback and tells you exactly what needs correcting.
Dr. Chesniak is very down to earth professor. She makes an effort to make her lectures fun and interesting. Her grading criteria is very straight forward. Definitely recommend taking her.
She was a great teacher! Super funny and understanding! I would recommend taking her!
Dr. Chesniak was my favorite professor this past semester. She really cares for her students and is aware psychology is not at the top of everyone's priorities list. She try's to make lectures somewhat interesting by using videos and activities. I really enjoyed her as a person and as a professor.
Seriously, she is the BEST professor. If I could give her a six out of five I would. I took her last year and would take her again in the future. She really does care about her students and is more than willing to help during office hours or after class if you ever need it. If you take notes and listen, you'll get an A.
Awesome teacher and so sweet! She does blended learning, so that means that you only have to attend class on Tuesdays! Thursdays are optional. If you study, you will pass. Really not a hard class.
She is really funny and caring!
Professor Chesniak is the sweetest, most down to earth teacher I've ever had. She was always willing to further explain assignments & help any way she could. Tests were strictly on the study guides. Taught exactly what was needed for the tests & no more or less. I would absolutely take a class with her again!
Dr. Chesniak is an excellent professor! Her lectures are interesting and presented in a very understandable manner. She likes to have fun and keep students engaged in class, so be prepared to participate because it will make your experience all the better. You will benefit greatly from her class even if you are not a psychology major.
Keeps class engaging and fun. All the information needed for quizzes and assignments are pretty much given in class. Highly recommend
Dr Chesniak is a great psyc teacher. She tries to make her lectures as interesting as possible by including lots of videos and activities. She is overall a very caring and nice person and not intimidating at all. I would recommend her
Good professor, fun and lively. Assignments are straightforward and simple. Attendance is mandatory if you want participation points (main reason why I didn't get an A) and read the textbook if you want to be successful on the exams. Other than that, great fun class, I learned a lot and would recommend Chesniak. (Also no technology in her class).
I loved Chesniak, by far my favorite professor at GCU so far. I am taking psy357 with her currently. I had her as a blended class which I benefited from, there is reading involved but I did the best on the quizzes where I read. She gives you everything plus extra to be prepared for the quizzes. Great personality as well, easy to talk about anything
She gives great feedback on papers even before the due date if you ask questions. Her lectures are interesting and well thought out. She cares a lot about students and even there personal lives. I would definitely take her again. The first quiz was hard so read the textbook it does help. But her class overall is not too hard if you study.
I loved Doctor Chesniak! She was such a fun teacher and applies all that she has done throughout her life to the class. Not in the oversharing kind of way, but the aspects of life that pertain to the subject she'll bring up to give examples. I highly recommend her, try to speak in class if you can, she loves when students participate.
Dr. Chesniak will become like your mom- in a good way. She is hilarious, compassionate, and clear on her expectations. She tells a lot of stories related to subject-material and makes class feel like one big discussion. I highly recommend taking any class with her.
I loved Doctor Chesniak! I was very scared to take this class because I have never taken a psych course before. However, she is really good with making sure everyone understands the material, the assignments, and quizzes!
She was really easy to pass as long as you went to lectures and turned in assignments in on time. Her lectures are also comprehensive and she uses her experiences from her life to relate to the topic making class interesting and relatable.
Loved Dr. Chesniak. I took her for the Blended Lifespan Development class and she made it so interesting and fun. She care immensely for her students and wants to see them succeed. She is also very available outside. Honestly if you do the work and do well on the quizzes (which she prepares you for) you will do will in this class. Please take her!
I loved Dr. Chesniak. I took her for PSY-102 and I really enjoyed the class. Her lectures are fun and her quizzes are easy if you take good notes. Her IA's were amazing and gave me great feedback on my papers. Dr. Chesniak is a very caring professor who truly wants her students to succeed.
Easy class, final is what dropped my grade. Lots of conversation and Dr. Chesniak made it easy.
She is a really nice professor who really relies on participation for grades. I would recommend going to class because you never know when she is going to give out a participation assignment. She really cares about her students and knows they have a lot of other work so she does most of the assignments in class, overall a great professor.
Dr. Chesniak is good but she doesn't do open note quizzes like a lot of other profs. She is very caring and has really good lectures, and her quizzes are somewhat easy if you really study for them. She's really easy to talk to and can give good advice.
Dr. Chesniak is very helpful and willing to give feedback. She is very friendly and often makes changes to assignments so make sure you're in class. Participation is also random so try to be in class. She is also understanding.
Professor Chesniak-Phipps is the professor you want for your capstone. She made everything super easy and provided an abundance of resources to help with life after graduation. Not to mention she's super cute and funny too.
She was a nice person but I hated her class. She was incredibly political and continuously pushed her views indirectly (videos, articles, etc). Every class she talked about politics and forced us to watch many videos regarding far leftist ideology. HATED THIS CLASS. If u r conservative don't take her, I wanted to kms
A solid choice for PSY357. She does a blended learning class where you only have to show up to class on Tuesdays, which is incredibly nice for busy nursing majors. I learned a lot and the quizzes were easy if you showed up to class and did the study guides.
Dr. Chesniak was an awesome professor for PSY-102. She gave interesting lectures and was very clear on all the assignments she gave us. There was never a moment where I felt lost in this class.
Professor Chesniak was very engaged in the lecture although she would sometimes get sidetracked it was all still related to the topic. Always had a positive attitude & made sure students were not left behind. Professor Chesniak liked to construct group projects but with the help of the textbook & her notes, they are super easy. LOVED THIS CLASS!
Professor Chesniak is a great person who is very chill and relaxing. There is a lot of lecture sometimes but she does a great job making sure that we have breaks and sometimes she ends class early. The tests aren't very hard as long as you pay attention in class. The assignments are a lot sometimes but the instructions are very easy to understand.
ehh... not a bad choice at all. Her classes are still blended so you see her once a week. Nothing to rave about but easy to get a good grade. Just show up once and week and write some papers and you'll succeed. Want an easy A? take her. Want to actually learn and understand the material. choose a different prof.
Dr. Chesniak is an amazing professor, especially for a beginner class like PSY-102. She sets out clear expectations and is extremely considerate. I look forward to having her again as a professor!
Lectures are very informational and filled with research. The class was a blended model so we had one lecture in class per week and a blended day where we just had to submit a smaller assignment. Important to take notes in class. Gives really good study guides for quizes.
This professor is really nice, I enjoyed taking her class. It is very lecture heavy, so attendance is important. Her lectures are very clear and informational. This class has lots of assignments, so be prepared to read the textbook. She is very professional and seems to enjoy her job.
Her class was honestly amazing. She seems to be very understanding and seems to genuinely care about her students. She seems like a great professor you'd want to get close to and she is not intimidating at all. I would honestly recommend getting her.
She was a good professor however the class was a little monotone at times, I would recommend her because she cares about her students and our wellbeing, the workload is pretty fair and she really does prepare you for quizzes. I liked the way she structured class and she was kind and understanding. She never posts her powerpoints so TAKE GOOD NOTES
There are going to be a lot of projects. Honestly, I never knew how participation worked cause I showed up every other week to class after thanksgiving and got full points. Be sure to do the blended sheets the day before they are due so you can just vibe. Quizzes are easy.
Dr. Chesniak was one of the best professors I've had. She is clear in her assignments, grades easily, and lets us out early. She remained following the "blended learning" model, so we only had in person class one day of the week. She is always on zoom and super accessible. She wants to see us succeed!
Dr. Chesniak was a wonderful professor. She was pretty engaging lecture-wise. Do the blended assignments the night before so you can sleep in the next day.
She is very helpful and wants the best for you. As long as you communicate she will work with you and is super caring. She did my class as blended and it was really nice and helpful for me for the material and the assignments. She is very clear on what is expected for grading.
Professor Chesniak is an amazing psych professor. She is very knowledgeable and presents material in a dynamic way that makes it easy to understand. Still goes by blended class model, so most weeks one lecture and one work at home assignment. One essay, the rest were open book tests. She is strict on participation. I would take her if you can!
This class is not hard and Professor Chesniak does a great job presenting all of the information.
One of my favorite teachers at gcu! She made the class so much fun and super easy to get an A in! If you can take her for any class I highly recommend, she cares about every one of her students.
she is a great professor. her feedback is very helpful and she is very caring. she truly does want the best for her students, the only thing I would have to say is, very strict with APA, even over the smallest things so be careful with papers and double check them. You need to show up to class, lectures are not heavy, blended classes sometimes.
Amazing professor. If you come to class the days papers are due she typically has an in class assignment for the points instead. Very helpful and I HIGHLY RECCOMEND taking her.
Dr. Chesniak is a wonderful professor & a wonderful person. Her class was very relaxed, definitely take her if you can! It was extremely easy to get an A if you just do the assignments. Almost every Friday of the semester we didn't have to come to class, instead she just has you complete a simple assignment for the day and turn it in before 11:59.
This is my second time taking Professor Chesnial and I LOVED it once again. I took her for PSY-355 which is child and adolescent psychology and even though it was her first time teaching this course, she did GREAT! I always enjoyed going to class and she is a wonderful professor. Will definitely be taking her again and I definitely recommend her!
I took her for PSY355. She's super sweet. There are a few papers throughout the course and she grades for participation with quick in-person assignments. Frequently will have class only once a week and do blended. She's also funny and I never had a day where I did not look forward to her class. She earned all of my respect as a psych professor.
Great professor! The class is easy and if there is a day that you have to be in class for a project she makes sure to tell you weeks ahead of time, that being said her lectures are good and super helpful but not necessary to go to every time. Overall good class and great teacher!
Dr. Chesniak is amazing and a very personable professor. I loved her class and her lectures and assignments keep you engaged. She is super workable if you are gone or need extensions on something and is just a good person. Would definitely recommend her to anyone taking a psych class.
Very kind professor. Super easy class, but doesn't post the slides, so take notes. Assignments are very easy and she goes over them very thoroughly. She is super sweet and loves to have conversation with her students. She also does blended assignments so sometimes you wont have class on Thursday. Super easy class! If you can, take her!
Dr. Chesniak is so sweet and an amazing professor. I only had class once a week with her and there were blended assignments so it was never stressful. She gave really good feedback and clearly cares about her students a lot. 10/10
Dr Chesniak has very few requirements for her students, all she asks is that you show up to class and you turn in your work, if you do that you'll get an A. There are no exams in this class, only quizzes and they are online at home. The papers we do have to submit have very clear guidelines and are easy to pass.
Great professor! Lectures are not boring and most participation is in class. All of her tests were taken online outside of the classroom and were very easy. Cares about her students! No midterm or final either.
Dr. Chesniak was a great professor. Her lectures were engaging and easy to follow. She often only had classes one day a week and posted an online assignment instead of in-person learning. Her grading can be tough when it comes to APA, so make sure to double-check your citations before submitting.
Laura was a good professor and her class was unbelievably easy. She had a lot of in class work so attendance is mandatory. Her quiz days are outside of the classroom so you don't have to worry about showing up to class. I would recommend taking her if you want an easy experience.
I loved Dr Chesniak! She did a blended learning style where sometimes we'd meet in person once a week and then have a worksheet or a quiz to just do in our free time on the other day we'd have class. 100% would recommend taking her if you have the opportunity to!
Laura Chesniak is a very kind Professor class was very interesting in many ways. The hard part was the assessments and the grading the blended method in the class were really hard. Fun class and interesting but very hard with the blended method hard assignments. Laura was very kind and understanding in many ways though.
She was an amazing Psychology professor! Would take her again!
Good teacher, but clear left wing political stance. We had to take a moment of silence the day after the election. A bit interesting, but good lectures and knowledgeable. Tests are taking virtually, and some Fridays were "blended learning," where we didn't have to come to class.
She is very clear in her grading requirements. She does some blended learning days so we don't have to come to class, and tests are done at home online. But the other days you have to be in class. Overall she is a great teacher.
This professor was very kind and used a blended learning style, where we had lectures on the first day of the week and then no class on the second day. She took up most of the class time on the lecture day. The assignments were easy, but sometimes tedious. Only 2 exams, but taken at home and are pretty straightforward with the questions.
Her lectures are very informational and based on the most important materials for the course. Notes can be taken either digitally or written on paper. She does not post her slides from her lectures, so you either have to type or write quickly. She has each student keep a name tag and it will randomly get stamped for participation.
I would take Dr. Chesniaks class again if I could! She always let us out super early while providing an easy educational lecture. She loves interacting with students and loves it when people interact but she never forces anyone to. I asked a dumb question ab something she'd just said and she didn't make me feel bad about it.super understanding prof
Loved prof. Chesniak, no complaints. Her lectures would be mixed in with active learning activities so the lectures never felt too long or painful to sit through. A lot of weeks she would do a blended style learning so we only would meet in person once a week. Very caring professor who is really great at making sure grades are fair.
Dr. Chesniak was a good professor. Her class itself was pretty easy and she kept the class to the basics. Her lectures were long but usually entertaining. I would recommend her to people with little knowledge of psychology.
Dr. Chesniak was such an amazing professor. She is super kind and funny! Sometimes she does asynchronous work so you won't have to go to class! She gives no final exam and only 4 quizzes the entire semester. (You take the quiz at home). She does do a lot of group work but it's very easy and simple. Attendance isn't mandatory but it does give points
Professor Chesniak's class is engaging and manageable. The blended learning approach with in-class activities and online assessments works well. Unstuckstudy was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, an enjoyable and worthwhile psychology course.
Dr. Chesniak is a great professor! Helpful on assignments and understands when you need to be absent and able to help with that when there's an assignment due.
Loved this professor!!! She is so funny and caring towards her students. Half of the classes were blended days where we didn't need to show up and we just turned in a short assignment from home. Lectures were engaging and fascinating. I will miss having her!
Amazing professor!!
Not a very compassionate professor, don't expect any grace if you find yourself in a bad position. Overall her class is easy, but probably one of the most boring professors I have had so far.
Laura is a good professor and cares for her students. Her lectures are heavy but they informational. overall she is a good professor and i would take again,
All of the major-point assignments are done as worksheets in person, and require minimal effort. All you have to do is show up. Exams are also taken online, and most weeks we would only meet in class once instead of twice. She is very nice!
Dr. Chesniak is probably one of my favorite professors I've ever had, she's very caring and overall so understanding. She does a blended learning style which is honestly so nice and will post the blended worksheets early so you can get them done. She also does a lot of group work too but it's super easy and not hard at all!
