At the moment she's still a new, young teacher, so bear with her if she doesn't seem quite up to par with the more exerienced professors. On the plus side, her class isn't difficult, she's very friendly, and she helps whenever she can. I'm sure every year she'll improve her teaching methods!
Wonderful lab teacher. Do the writing packets, and actually pay attention to what you're writing about and the midterm and final will be easy. Extremely helpful in the lab. She also offers a decent amount of extra credit which can help you make up a poor lab. I recommend her for anyone who needs to take a 107 or 104 lab!
She was very clear in her powerpoint presentations. She would also give the powerpoint notes as a handout so I didn't need a notebook for notes at all. She is very nice. At the end of the semester, she told us that if we had an A, we could opt out of the final. Great reward!
"Just study everything" is the study guide. Tests on things we did not even go over in class. Gets extremely annoyed if you ask too many questions, to the point of abusive with her voice. Wish I had never taken this class.
Worst teacher I have ever had! She doesn't seem to enjoy teaching. She was ambiguous, and rude. Never knew what to expect from her. Do not question what she says, do not question her rules or decisions.
Horrible! Every assignment is picked apart. She tells you to use your own words, but if not worded exactly like she wants, you are dinged points. Students had the exact same answers but received different amounts of points. Very inconsistent. I wish I would have known before taking this class. I have a 4.0 but not after this semester. JUST SAY NO!
WORST instructor I have ever had.She has a terrible attitude whenever you ask questions and her grading is absolutely rediculous.I'm a good student and I have never done so badly in a class.Seems like she has favorites and good luck if you arent one of them.I would not recommend her to ANYONE. she can snap at any moment and when she does, watch out.
Hard class. You must put in the time & effort. She expects alot and wants no excuses. She lectures well,is organized, gives extra credit, and knows her material.Quizzes and tests are mostly short answer and hard.Too much and too fast for summer class.Do the work, show up, listen, participate, make the effort and you can get a good grade.
This was an extremely hard class. Teacher ding you if you used you own words then dinged on other thing claiming you copied. As long as don't ask about your grades or question her test you will be better off. Her grading points aren't constant between students. She will make you remember a lot though.
I would never take this professor again. testing is at a higher level than the class. grading was unstable! very happy some days and harsh the next. lots of time we left early when she should have spent more time in lecture! being so critical is only steering students to other nursing programs outside of rock valley.
Hated her. Her grading was harsh, tests were very harddd! Alot of memorization. Not just memorizing terms or diagrams but basically like paragraphs. Have never recieved anything lower than a C until I took her course and I have been in college for 3 years now.
Very nice just do the work and show up everyday and on time
Angry bird. Her moods fluctuate. Show up for class every session and ON TIME, or you're screwed. Her tests are material she covers in class, but in a way more difficult context. She expects above average work out of her students, which is fine, but then, she needs to explain it above average, which she doesn't do. Don't take her.
HORRIBLE! Very tough grader. Very smart mouthed. One time I did something out of order and she snapped on me for not listening...i was listening, but i was just confused. Even putting that incidence aside, shes no good. VERY rude.
Her lectures are good. but besides that it is very difficult. Her tests are extremely hard and so is the homework. Overall she is very tough but if you ask she's willing to help.
She is a very hard teacher. Her lectures make the test seem very easy but they arent. The way she teaches is "a bike has 2 wheels handle bars and a chain" but on the test she will ask "how do you put together a bike?" Her class is very straight forward. I would not recommend her class.
Definitely one of my favorite teachers. She is not easy simply because the material is not easy but if you are willing to make an effort, she is willing to help. I found her to be very approachable and helpful. If you show up every class, take good notes and communicate with her, you will enjoy her class.
Definitely my LEAST favorite teacher. She is not easy. Her grading is unpredictable. Her mood and reactions are also unpredictable. She yells at students. She comes off snotty. I found her to be UNapproachable and UNhelpful. I showed up every class, took good notes and communicated with her, and I HATED her class.
She is a very good teacher, but the class is difficult simply because the material that pertains to it is difficult. If you show up every day and take good notes, the class will still be difficult. You need to read the book in order to get a better grade. If you are struggling, she is more than willing to help you as long as you make an effort.
I loved her ! Difficult class, but she aims to prepare you for the real world. Most students were pre-nursing, and this class is cake compared to most nursing classes. She did have her moments, but it was usually for a good reason. She expects no less than your best, and she should. She never had a problem explaining material I didn't understand.
Some people tend to dislike her, but I think she is a great teacher. The ones that don't like her are ones that do not pay attention or don't like Biology. She is always willing to help but you need to be to class EVERY day.
very difficult teacher , it almost like she doesnt want you to pass ,, honestly i hated her but she is a good proffesor you will learn if you pay attention and you better pay attention the first time becuase she does not give second cahnces
AMAZING TEACHER! If you want to learn biology take her! She is very hard but you wont forge what you learn. As long as you pay attention and try you shouldnt have a problem getting along with her! Shes awesome!
I would not recommend her. She is a very hard teacher. Her lectures make the test seem very easy but they arent. The way she teaches is "a bike has 2 wheels handle bars and a chain" but on the test she will ask "how do you put together a bike?"
AMAZING Professor. She expects you to do your best. She prepares you for the REAL world. She makes herself avail for anything you need. She expects you to be adults,be in class, do the work,& try.She is an excellent prof. She will treat you with respect as long as you do the same.I wish I had her for my 103 class. If you want a GREAT teacher she is it.
She was incredibly well-spoken and knowledgeable about the subject. It was a hard class because we were doing a broad overview of everything biology, so there was tons of material to cover. She really helped me understand it and the online study tools were awesome.
Very easy class attendence is mandatory labs arent too hard and she is very helpful!
I took her class when she was gone for a few weeks. We had subs. they were horrible. She is very helpful. The class is not super easy. You must be at every class! I would take her over the other 104 professors!
She knows her stuff. I think she is very fair with her grading but leans more on the hard scale than easy. Make sure you read the text book and study and you should be fine
By far the WORST teacher I have ever had. If you plan to take her class, good luck memorizing 4 chapters of text.
Awesome teacher! Wish I had her for BIO104 also. She is really helpful, really nice, and her grading is fair. She omits 4 homework & online assignment grades and 2 quiz's. If you come to class everyday and take notes you'll do great. Even if you miss just talk to the person next to you and get the notes from them. Read the textbook and you'll do ok
She is a good teacher, but her tests can be REALLY hard if you don't study. TAKE NOTES AND DON'T MISS ANY CLASSES. Otherwise she grades fairly. I had her for lab as well and I really enjoyed having her in both.
Prof. Constant is very knowledgeable about Biology. I wouldn't say that it is an 'easy A,' you do have to put in effort, study, and show up to every class to do well. She really seems to care about her students and she really wants them all to understand the basics of Biology. She gives real life examples that help.
Very Tough instructor, expects you to know more than necessary.
She's a good teacher. You can tell she knows her stuff, but her class is ridiculous. Quizzes every week, tests are hard, and you read all the time. I wouldn't recommend her because she teaches what you know for the homework , but on tests it's a different story. Worst test structure too.
Prof. Constant is amazing. She really wants her students to understand Biology, and is willing to help you as long as you're willing to do the work.
She does a good job of keeping a lot of components of an online class organized, but it is hard to keep up with the many assignments, homework and quizzes. Do something EVERYDAY to keep up. She was very helpful when needed though. Overall, it wasn't difficult, but it is a lot! Extra cred is offered but it's a lot of work for small points,
She gives out a lot of homework and will call on students in class to answer her questions. She will help you if you ask for it. She also gives out extra credit but you may only recieve it if you are in class. She is strict at times. If you are late she won't accept your homework for a grade. Her test are all Mult-choice and some extra credit.
I thought she was easy. Expectations clear. Do not take her if you like to skip class, you will fail or do poorly. Attendance is mandatory. She does know what she teaches and is always willing to help during her office hours.
I loved Prof. Constant. She expects a lot from her students, but is a great teacher. I found this class to be very difficult (bio is not my fav subject), but as long as you do the in class, online hmwk & quizzes every week - you should be good. Those boost your grade up, so be sure to do them! Tests are really tough. Gives xtra credit. I Recommend!
Great teacher, but you must turn everything thing ON TIME. She does not accept late work. Check online to make sure you complete the quizzes on time. A few are dropped in case you forget one or something comes up, but that's it.
She will help if you come up to her. She doesn't hide the fact her tests are hard. Require a fair amount of time outside of class.
Microbes & Society with Professor Constant is a really great class! It will help prepare you for Microbiology, too! Over the semester, she gives tests, in-class homework, case studies, and a research paper. She tells you what she expects right from the beginning. She will gladly help you if you are having a hard time in class. She is the best!
Awesome teacher, really explains things well, love her no tolerance policy of cell phone use, doesn't accept late homework(EVER) so be on time,(not even 1 minute late) but she will give you feedback even if you do turn it in. Doesn't test you on anything you haven't gone over. Put in the work, show up and be respectful and you WILL get an A.
Professor Constant really explains the material well, better than most other professors. She doesn't accept late homework, not even a minute late. She is very strict on cell phones and sleeping in class. She doesn't test her students on anything she has not gone over in class. Her tests are multiple choice and essay, however very lean on spelling.
Professor Constant really explains the labs in detail, better than most other professors. She doesn't accept late homework and labs, not even a minute late. She is very strict on cell phones and sleeping in class. She doesn't test her students on anything outside the labs. I would take her again in a heartbeat for any biology class.
BEST TEACHER EVER. she is organzied and strict but an awesome teacher. if you show up to class on TIME you will pass. She also does give extra credit.
She was by far the worst teacher I have EVER had. I have no clue who would give her a degree in teaching but she is not sane enough to be teaching students. She will not work with you what so ever, nor see your point. Accuses you of cheating when you never do! I would never in a million years take her class if it was offered free!
Professor Constant is one of my favorite professors at RVC. Her Microbes class is really interesting and fun. I would recommend taking the lab component with it as I did not.
She's easy to talk to about problems or questions. She talks & writes down information. She gives extra credit for tests and some worksheets. As long as you study and do the work you'll be fine
Don't take her unless you have to. She's not cut out to be a teacher, expects you to know what she's talking about, goes over it way too fast. Online quizzes she accuses you of cheating if you leave the page, even if you don't it sometimes says you did, you lose points for that. Tutoring center helped me with hw yet she counted it wrong. Can't win
Professor Constant was a pleasure to have at RVC. She's very strict, but maintains classroom control and is friendly. She's good at explaining things and will offer help to you in a heartbeat. I also recommend taking her Microbes & Society Lab, because you do a lot of fun things that are interesting even if you're not going for Microbiology!
If you're like me and struggle with science then be prepared to WORK for that grade. Very organized and strict with her teachings, quizzes online help save your grade so do them and take good notes to study from for the tests. Her lab was where I really took interest and it became one of my favorite classes I took at RVC.
In the beginning she was a little intimidating, but once you make an impression she is all smiles and caring. She really is a great professor. She tells you what you need to know and doesn't leave anything out. Very glad I took her class and highly recommend!
she's a great teacher and all, i had difficulties because i'm not really good in science and took it for granted. You must work for the grade and put in extra hours of study.
I throughly enjoyed having professor Constant for this course. She is very knowledgable which makes her lectures very interesting. I learned a lot in this course. However, because of her lengthy lectures this course requires a lot of study time. Her exams definitely prepare you for the final.
There is a homework assignment every week and a quiz. She gives you all the information needed for the exam in the lectures so if you take good notes you should be fine. I never opened the book once but never skipped class. Ask questions and this class shouldn't be too hard!
I am not naturally scientifically minded, but I found her lectures easy to understand. She relates ideas to real life examples and draws clear examples of concepts. I used recorder and re-listened to lectures for exam prep. as most questions are lecture based. She came in early to school to answer my questions, since I could make her office hours!
Professor Constant is fantastic. She's straightforward and simplifies concepts for you. The homework is a piece of cake, and if you do the homework in detail, you're set for the test. I barely had to use the book. She's surprisingly engaging. The online quizzes are easy. She really wants her students to get help and succeed.
The midterm and final were weighted too heavily but to make matters worse, they were way off anything you learned during the course. Do not take this class online (at least with her). I have taken many online classes and have received all A's before this class. This was one of the hardest classes I've taken simply because of the midterm and final.
Her midterm and final points are too high compared to the rest of the graded points. Her homework and quizzes are based on her power points. Her midterm and final is based on the whole book, which makes things challenging. Her study guides are do nothing to help with the midterm and final. She tries to teach advanced BIO for a required class.
For an online class, she was very attentive to students when help was needed. I used the book once or twice because her power-points held enough information. But get ready to draw a lot of diagrams.
Constant is an amazing professor. She always knows what she is talking about. There is a lot of homework and a lot of material to know but she is very helpful.
Highly recommend never taking this professor. All class test averages were a D and there is about 3 homework assignments every two days along with studying for quizzes. The quizzes and tests don't go along with her lectures and are impossible to pass. She doesn't care if students pass or not and is stubborn when it comes to her always being right.
Constant is a great professor because she teaches in a way that is comprehensible. She explains why everything works the way it does, and uses good analogies to help us understand it even better. The labs aren't too bad, just participate and you'll be fine. If you want a good grade on the exams, you need to put effort into studying, of course.
Overall a great professor. From the first day of class, she makes it very clear what her expectations are. STU 100 with her is a very hands on class. Many assignments require you to schedule an appointment, present something, or interview people around campus. Assignments tend to be somewhat difficult, but definitely helpful. NOT A "BLOW OFF' CLASS
I would love to take more classes with her , currently taking bio 150 and 152 , she is very friendly and gives really good explanations but Im sure that if you skip the class you wont pass, exams are based on notes and homework. She is a great teacher !!!!!!!! I would definitely recommend her !!!!! She makes the class less boring
If you want a good grade in her courses you must constantly study material from your textbook and lecture notes. If your just 1 minute late to class your assignments are Zeros, so you must attend class early and be there everyday. If you are unable to attend class, Good luck trying to figure out a solution. Honestly she doesn't care why.
She is an old-style teacher, so be ready to do everything by hand. She is extremely strict about everything. Be prepared to study A LOT for this course. The exams are intense and will be ask things from previous exams. Homework every 2 to 3 days. If you're late to her class by 1 minute she will not accept the homework and will give you a zero.
I didn't have Professor Constant for lecture, only for lab. The lab class was super easy. I did well in my BIO 103 class so it nice to come to BIO 104 and know the material already. The labs were easy and fun.
Prof Constant is a good teacher, but she's tough. She explains things well. Sometimes her tests were difficult as I did not feel that everything was covered in lecture. Overall, she is fair. If you show you are committed, she will be committed to you. She will give you whatever help you need, but you have to ask. Good class, good prof.
I thought she was great! She was very nice and caring. Not a tough grader either.
there is a lot of work that you have to put into this class to be productive, but she will work with you to help you succeed.
Very lecture heavy and expects you to know her interpretations. Her expectations are rather high for a 200 level Biology course regardless of it being for science majors. Exams are difficult, quizzes are significantly harder than the pile of homework assigned. She is very knowledgable in Biology. Very strict on her rules and is "always right".
Professor is knowledgeable but extremely tough. Quizzes are very specific on words, exams are a lot of memorizing , lab quizzes are difficult, she expects you to know the concept and know diagrams even if you've never seen before. Class should have more prerequisites, if you study every day you might pass her class
This class was way beyond a BIO 200 level class. Her expectations are far too high and her goal is not to help students succeed. She quizzes and tests based on her interpretation making the textbook pointless. She is not reasonable and doesnt care if life events happen. Cant be a second late. She can never be wrong and it's her way or the highway.
Great teacher, would definitely take a class of hers again, she is strict but very fair. Lot of information in the classes, but she makes it very easy to understand! Make sure to be on time and always do the homework!!!
Professor Constant needs to get new pairs of scissors smh. They don't even cut paper
Just as others have said, she teaches WELL beyond a 200 class level. If you have no background in biology before taking this class it will be very difficult for you. Tests are ridiculously detailed, but thankfully the final is standardized.
I took Bio 103 it was more like a 400 level class. If you are not a Boi or Chemistry major do not take her class. I took the online section. She posts some generic Youtube videos, not her own. there is ZERO INSTRUCTION. She is supper critical grading. I got a answer marked wrong because I pluralized it. The final exam is like 56% of your grade.
I would highly recommend avoid taking this proffesor and class by all means. After discussing my course curriculum and work load with some Bio Majors, I was assured that us as students werent crazy. This is beyond a 200 level course, I had to drop the class in order to maintain my good GPA Ive worked hard for. Shes expects 400 level out of you
Good professor, and I would have her again for lab.
If you take this class, take a night class with her! Ive heard many people say that she was more lenient during her night class and thats what I did. I managed to get an A.
HORRIBLE CLASS. She's a great person, don't get me wrong but she makes passing this class extremely hard. On the edge of losing my FAFSA because of her class... and coming from a low income family, it sucks. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! Gives 4 exams out of 75.. impossible to pass. ALSO HAVE TO BE ON TIME TO TURN THINGS IN,DOES NOT ACCEPT ON THE DOT.
I took this as a summer class and Professor Constant was nice but got upset easily during group projects it seemed. The labs were fun to do but the testing was a bit difficult for me.
Professor Constant makes you work for your grade and the class is based off of mostly lab grades and quizzes outside of class. The quizzes are tough, but if you apply yourself youll do fine. Professor Constant seems to be impatient and gets easily angered if you mess up in a lab. Rules in this class are strict and overbearing. DO NOT recommend.
If you love a teacher that doesn't care about her students or claims that a student is late and they have to prove them self right by their phone tracker they were actually in class. Also if you don't quite understand something and so you ask and she gets mad and you end up crying because she pretty much calls you an idiot. She would be great.
During the pandemic my class is online and the final exam was a disaster, we had 40 min for 7 essay/short answer and 8 multiple choice there was no time to finish the exam, she is not very caring or considerate of her students. NOT worth taking the class for a person like her.
I had Professor Constant for lab and she was really great. She sped through procedures and experiments, but if you were paying attention in the class portion, then you should be alright. She was easy to talk to and although she is a tough grader, she's fair.
Easy class for me but a lot of classmates had trouble. My issue was that there were multiple times on quizzes where I got an answer right (double-checked w/ the book, lecture, online sources, etc.) and Prof marked it wrong and wouldn't fix my grade. She thinks she's better than everyone. But take good notes and read the book and it's an easy A.
she's a good lecturer but grades hard. expects students to know everything. our class had to switch to online class bc of covid and she didnt do any sort of online lecture, which made understanding material very difficult.
I appreciate how willing she was to answer any questions. She would let you come in during office hours and responded to emails quickly. She would schedule zoom sessions before the exam to answer any questions you may have. Although, this class does require a lot of your time so get prepared to work. Gives 4 exams, 4 labs, and weekly quizzes.
I had this professor for a compressed 4 week course. 3-4 chapters a week. What a nightmare. The course wasn't organized, and there were so many mistakes. Literally chapters were mislabeled because she changed textbooks. Not even an apology. Also, it was an online course. She didn't even teach, "Lectures" were generic videos of someone else.
She makes it very clear at the beginning of the semester what she expects of you. As long as you follow the syllabus and meet expectations she will be very helpful and answer questions. Being prompt to her class and respecting her time is very important as well as being prepared for labs. Being unprepared is a huge negative to her.
Would not recommend.
Would not recommend. I talked to her privately asking for extra time since a family member had passed away that week. Was not caring at all although I agree you should be prepared and have work turned in on time that was no way to take care of the situation.
Terrible at teaching her students. Will get irritated if you ask her a question. She makes a study guide for her exams but the study guides don't help at all and that is wh everyone fails her exams.
Professor Constant is not caring in the least bit. I had a family emergency and she didn't care. She is one of the rudest people I've ever met and I DO NOT recommend taking any of her classes. She is unorganized and doesn't properly teach her students. I cannot believe she still is allowed to teach.
She is the best Bio teacher so far. I am taking Bio 202 with different teacher, and she is horrible. Constant's lecture was amazing and well organized. You need to study in order to get an A. If you don't study and expect to get higher grade is impossible. She is straight forward of what she expected. Take note and study, that will be in exam.
Professor Constant knows what she is talking about but her personality just isn't it. She is very passive-aggressive and has made students feel bad for asking questions. She knows the material she teaches but could engage more students by being more personable.
was a difficult class you do need to study especially for test specifically diagrams but she is very good about answering questions outside of class
would recommend taking a night class a lot easier then the day classes
Good professor, kind of a cock ass
Awful and rude would say switch professors if placed in one of her classes.
The test will probably bring your grade down so make sure you do all of the other assignments as they give you easy points.
Professor Constant was very intimidating in the beginning of the school year, but as the semester goes by you learn she teaches the way she does because she truly wants to see her students succeed. She is very tough but will answer any question and is very helpful. As long as you do the work, put in the effort and study you will do well.
I took Bio-201 last semester and I am not going to sugar-coat it: this class is WORK. I had to study so much and my friends did too. What I found helped me best was to go to lecture and take notes, then I rewrote my lecture notes and used her powerpoints to supplement. I HIGHLY suggest using her powerpoints. There is really helpful info in them.
If you can avoid taking her DO IT. She does not care what kind of problems you have outside of school she will still give you zeros on homework and quizzes. Every single spelling error counts on tests its ridiculous. Every test is worth 100 points and she gives information that you need to know a day before.
Professor Constant has very good lectures that allow students to digest very complex information more effectively. Although reading is optional, you should still read because for some questions having a good understanding of the curriculum is necessary to get a good grade on the exams because many questions are complex. Exams are heavily weighted
Not a Blow Off Class. Reading the book is optional I never did but it could help. Pay attention to lecture as they are long. She can come off rude but I grew to kind of like her. Only 12 people made it to the final in my class.
she was okay, if you dont show up for class YOU WILL get behind very lecture heavy - i did appericate the homework it really was a huge study help for the final so make sure you actually complete it, she is a bit rude when it comes to questioning her .
Sooo condescending. I could not focus in between her snotty remarks + asking questions that felt like they were meant to make us feel dumb and uncomfortable. The material is difficult but doable. However, she expected much more from us outside of class than seems reasonable for a "200" level class. Definitely take the class, just not with her.
Do not skip her lectures, her tests are HARD. but she knows exactly what she is talking about and is good at explaining concepts. she can be rude sometimes but i think she funny. I'd definitely take another class with her but she is scary
I was going through a tough time in life during the semester I took her. She genuinely made my life and mental state worse. Avoid at all costs. She was threatening highschool students with Fs on labs if they left class early at all, even though their high schools were saying they needed to.
