Young, new professor. Very straight forward and fair grading. Tried to make subject funny/memorable. Got behind on grading homework. Always responded to e-mails ASAP. Allowed cell phones & other tech in class. Tests matched lecture content. No suprises. Knows alot about UCF. Gives good advice for transfer students. Writes letters of recommendation.
She is an awesome teacher. She is new and this is her 2 semester teaching, fresh out of UCF and she is great. Gives best advice and helps you with your work straight ahead. 3 test, super easy if you study the power points, I RECOMMEND TAKING HER
4 Tests, 2 Practicals & Final from previous tests. Study slides and listen during lecture and you will do fine. Offers extra credit opportunities and is extremely helpful if you ask. Super nice, would definitely take again.
Freaked me out on the first day!! Super strict on policy and rules. Babbled on and on about syllabus and expectations. "don't miss classes or you'll fail" "don't be late/leave early or you'll fail", "don't fail the final or you'll fail" her words, not mine. Made me feel uncomfortable and put me on the spot...dropped the class.(for my sanity).
Honestly she is amazing. She is very young so understands the college struggle. Tests are extremely hard , but she explains everything . You can make a good grade you just have to work for it. I would definitely take her again. She also gives extra credit which help A LOT!! Take her you won't regret it!
She is an amazing professor, understands that you aren't a biologist. Teaches the topic's in a understandable manner. There are 3 lecture exams and 2 lab test, they are pretty hard so study her powerpoints. GIVES EXTRA CREDIT WHICH HELPS YOU OUT IN THE EXAMS. You do need the textbook. Overall you have to work hard to pass her class but it's do able
Great professor. Take her. She loves Star Trek, too!
LOVED PROFESSOR D'Alessio. Im not going to lie I creid many times thinking I was going to fail this class because I did horrible on all her exams because they were tough. I will say what helped me pass was all the homework assignments & lab assignments as well as the group project. All of these are a big chunk of your grade. I got an A :)
Good professor but she thinks the only thing I have going on in my life is her class. quizzes every class, exams cover 6 chapters each, first exam you have awhile to study for, then they next 3, including the final is all thrown at you in less than a month + lab practical & a project in A MONTH. She takes attendance too. wouldnt take again
She is an amazing professor!!!! Took her for Biology and Microbiology. She is very helpful as long as you do your part, everything is in her slides and lectures 2 lab exams and 3 lecture exam. Exam are tough but she does give extra credit which help A TON!!! Gives quizzes before class which are very helpful in preparing you for her exams.
First of all it's bio. It's not easy and she makes you work for it. But she is amazing. Will help if you ask, jokes, makes 3 hour lectures interesting... but theres only tests and quizzes. No homework. STUDY! Examshard!! Passing is doable. Seemed like the end of the semester was rushed w project, lecture exam, lab practical and final in two weeks.
I loved taking Professor D'alessia's class! She's very easy going and so clear about everything. Nothing will ever come out of left field with her. There are quizzes every class and chapter outlines for every chapter, but THEY HELP. They'll show up on your tests. If you pay attention to them and study a bit you should pass with an A. TAKE HERRR!
She was a wonderful Intro into Biology professor. She tries to make all her lectures tolerable and enjoyable. She also uses cats references as examples to help understand different terminology. Overall, an adorable teacher you sincerely wants you to pass and learn about biology.
I took her over the summer and even though it was an evening class, she tried very very hard to keep us entertained and interested. Bio is tough especially if you don't have any background in it. Her grading is very straight forward. I would take her again and I want to take her for Micro! (I hope you get her references, i.e. Oregon Trail)
She is an awesome professor. She makes the class more interesting than bio 1. She's young so she understands younger students. Her quizzes aren't bad at all and test are a little tough but if you know just her slides really well I promise you will get an A. She'll help you highlight what is more important to be ready for he test. Highly recommended
She has three lecture exams and two lab exams, plus a final. The lab exams are okay, but the lecture exams are VERY difficult. She does give 5% extra credit for the though.
Great professor but ALOT of studying involved. Quizzes every single class (timed). Total of 3 unit exams, 2 lab practicals, a cummulative final. It was very rushed the last 3 weeks of the semester cramming us with 2 unit exams, 1 lab practical, the final and a project to present. Very stressful last month! Great teaching methods but bad time mgmt
Great professor, easy to understand. Knows her stuff. Test are very difficult. Last 3 weeks of class were very difficult and rushed. 3 exams, 2 lab practical, 1 group project, final. Passed with 87%
Awesome Professor! Lectures are very long, but very informative. You must study a lot, but by doing so you actually learn the material. I learned more, as well as retained the knowledge taught in her class more than I probably ever have. Highly recommend.
Favorite Professor of all time! Lectures are long but she tries her best to make it enjoyable. She is passionate about her profession and it shows. This class evolves a lot of studying which is expected from any biology course. Quizzes are every class but end up being helpful in the end. I wish taught more classes! Highly recommend her.
I signed up with RMP for the sole purpose of rating Professor D'alessio. She is, hands down, the best professor that I have ever had. Does she make you work for your "A'? Of course. But she's hilarious, fair, and the class really isn't that difficult.. much more cumbersome at UCF. **This class does not fulfill the class req'd for med school**
She's a great professor. You have lecture and lab quizzes throughout the entire course but they're necessary to keep the material fresh in your mind. Attendance isn't mandatory but you only have 6 dropped quizzes (1 every class) so if you don't attend class, you get a 0 and that's one of your dropped quizzes. ATTEND CLASS. Give yourself the cushion
She is a great professor! Be prepared to work, review, and study hard because otherwise you won't pass. Her lectures are long and full of information, but she makes it interesting and has a good sense of humor which keeps you focused. As long as you follow the due dates and review the material well you will be fine. I recommend taking her!
Professor D is an amazing teacher. She finds ways to make her lectures and labs fun and informative. She has a flexible attendance policy, but attending all classes is highly recommended. there are short quizzes every class but this helps keep information fresh. Exams are difficult, but as always, if you study hard, you WILL pass. she is awesome
Loved Bio with her. Wish I would have taken the class a little more seriously. So many quizzes and tests but all with good intention. She always tried her best to make the 3hrs20min less dreadful during her summer course by adding her own little nerdy humor into it. If you put forth the effort, you will pass guaranteed.
Prof. D, is a great choice for Micro, I highly recommended. She is very understanding person and works with you to make sure you understand the material. She explains this topic at a very understandable level and hits key points that you will need later. Please teach higher levels! Work for it but so worth it! TY. Not arrogant like others at Nona
Biology I is a difficult class but there is no way around it. Professor D'Alessio cares and gives you everything to be successful. You have to work for an A or B but it all pays off.
Honestly, very down to earth and really knows how to explain and teach. If she taught BSC1011C I would take it in a heartbeat. Amazing lectures and would HIGHLY recommend. Did not require a textbook which is a plus. Also, gives an 5% extra credit on every exam which is a grade saver! Just listen to her lectures and you will be fine.
Professor D'alessio is wonderful, she works at like Nona campus now. She explains the material VERY thouroughly and gives you all the material you need to succeed, you just need to use it. I studdied my ass off and ended up getting a 91 on my last exam, she truly loves her job and it always available to answer your emails and questions. dedicated.
She's Truly the most AMAZING teacher ever. This class is Hard but not impossible to pass. students will have to work their but out, But at the end is all worth it, you will learn A LOT. Her lectures are Power points, D OES NOT REQUIRE TEXTBOOK. There's no other great MICRO teacher like her TRUST ME!!!!!! she is amazing.
She is a great professor.
This class has many quizzes, one every week, but it is not difficult if you study. Also she has many extra credit opportunities you can do ahead of time of your lecture exams. All her notes and lectures are well organized to help you succeed in the class. She makes the class enjoyable with her funny personality and she is always helpful.
she is great
Amazing professor!! No textbook required so attending lectures is important. I wish she taught more classes that I need!! Best professor I have had at Valencia!!
Great class! Lectures are fun
Being honest, this class IS NOT easy. If you want an A, honestly, be ready to study. You will not get an A if you don't study, in fact, if you do study, you still might get a B. However, she is very funny and never fails to make a hard lecture easy to understand. Take this course if you want to learn something, do not take it if you want an easy A.
She is an overall good teacher. She respects her students and is stern but can be flexible as long as you have a real reason. She also give clear lessons and makes everything easier to understand.
You must take her if you have to take science classes. She gives amazing feedback; she teaches by giving great examples to remember by; she is the best science professor I have ever taken.
Excellent professor. If you are not serious about this class, don't bother! When you look at the syllabus, you may faint, but again if you are serious and focused, you will do well. Professor D' is thorough, highly educated, demanding but fair. She is so accessible and willing to work with you if you show initiative. A+
It was difficult, but I learned a lot and I think it will be very helpful for upcoming anatomy and micro classes! She wants you to succeed, but that doesn't mean shes going to hand you the A, as she shouldn't . Get the extra help and clarifications before the tests if needed, she is more than willing to help.
Take her! Yes it's Micro, you're going to have to put in work. Show up to lectures/labs, study & and you will do great. She breaks it down so that it's clear and easy to understand, and in case you don't, she is there to help! Let's you know up front what is expected. Xtra credit opportunities. She knows her stuff, plus she's hilarious!
BEST professor I've ever had at Valencia. Really takes the time to make sure you understand the material. You definitely have to study for this class but she helps in any way she can including extra credit. Probably the 1st lectures I sat through and actually enjoyed because of her alone. She's hilarious!
Amazing professor! I wish i could take All my science classes with her! She definitely cares enough to make you understand hard material. She is funny, super nice, and caring. Offers Extra credit for each test. 2 lab practicals. 3 tests, and 1 final. Quizzes are helpful to prep for tests and practicals. Study of course and there's no way to fail!
Best professor I have ever had. Tells you exactly what's expected on the first day. Super nice and willing to help. Gives you everything you need to succeed in the course. If you try at all, you will pass. Extra credit is interesting and relevant. Tests were comprehensive and Final was cumulative. Lab practicals were not hard. Warm demeanor.
This class was great. I recommend this professor 100%. This class is also very challenging, and forces you to obtain some study habits. If you do not study, or take notes, then you will not pass this class. Attendance is lenient, but missing class is missing an entire 3 hour lecture, and I don't recommend it. Overall, great professor!
This professor is amazing. You don't have to buy the book which is such a plus. Now just because she's amazing doesn't mean this class is easy by any means. You still have to put in the effort. She will try her hardest to get you to understand this material and that speaks wonders of her.
Prof. D is a great professor and one of the better ones I have ever taken. she has a really funny and unique personality, while still knowing the material extremely well. This class is no joke and is very difficult/intense but if you pay attention, work hard she is the one to take.
Prof. D is an amazing professor and makes the long lectures fun to listen and is very understanding to any reasons why something can't get done. The class itself is pretty difficult but not if you pay attention and study. Overall strongly recommend especially if you struggle with science.
Professor D'Alessio is AMAZING! Material is difficult but she helps you truly understand it. Expect to work for it, but as long as you keep up and complete everything, really go to class and listen you can get a good grade!
This professor is by far the BEST professor I've ever had in my 2 years at Valencia, she's absolutely amazing! I wish i can take every class with her. Her powerpoints are so organized and well understood. Her exams and lab practicals are pretty easy. Everyone has told me Bio 1 is one of the hardest classes but she proved me wrong. TAKE HER!!
Excellent! No matter what your learning style is, Prof. D' has the skills to inspire and teach you. She is well educated and passionate about science. If you commit to studying, attending class and lab participation, it is possible to get an A. She is readily available to answer questions & provide resources. I wish she taught more classes.
She is the funniest professor ever! you will enjoy her class so much. she explains things amazingly clear.
Awesome professor !
I loved Professor D'Alessio. Don't get me wrong, the material is tough, and you NEED to study. But professor D gives great extra credit opportunities that really help, and are interesting too. Professor D Literally cracks me up and makes the lectures one you don't fall asleep in. Quizzes every day of class but they help on exams and aren't too bad.
She is Amazing!!!
This professor is awesome! This subject is hard to learn, but this professor uses different teaching/learning methods to help make it easier for the us. She does give extra credit opportunity. Great at giving feedback. Lectures are long, but she makes it interesting. I would definitely take her class again!
She is SO awesome!!! I would take her throughout my bio careers if I could. Bio is not an easy class, but she gives you all the tools necessary in order to succeed. The ball is in your court!
All you do is go to class and sit while she talks without engaging with the students. The test is nothing like the powerpoints. No study guides are given. No matter what DON'T take her for BIO2!!! Idk about bio 1 but she hasn't taught Bio 2 in years (She said that). So she writes all her test questions as if we have the same knowledge level as her.
Proff. D was the best bio teacher out there. It definitely is not an easy class but I wasn't expecting it to be easy since most science classes are difficult. She simplifies things so it's easier to understand, must study. Lecture quizzes are at home online and open note, there are only 3 exams 2 lab practicals and the final. Minimal homework. (:
She is the BEST. Her class is hard, you actually have to learn, but she is intelligent and her lectures are very well explained. Besides that, she answers super fast, and she is my favorite professor.
D'alessio is an angel in a lab coat. You have to go to class, her lectures are very informative & she gives you relatable examples to help you understand better. Her test are tough. study her powerpoint, you'll do just fine. She gives great extra credit opportunities that are added to lecture exams. TAKE HER SHES AMAZING.
Gotta work for your grade, exams were hard. She gives quizzes and turns those questions into exam questions but it's harder to understand. 60% exams, 20% final, and 20% everything else so labs and quizzes were useless. This class is very exam heavy but finals were just like past exams which makes up for it. Lectures were reading off powerpoint.
Professor D'Alessio is amazing. She is so understanding and willing to help her students throughout any point of the semester. Bio 2 can be boring but her lectures are extremely entertaining. Tests are very reflective of the quizzes and lectures. Expect to study this is college if you put in the work you will get the grade. She is the best!
Professor D'Alessio is fantastic. Honestly I think it's a testament to her quality as a professor that I actually loved going to class despite hating 80% of the actual material we had to learn in the Bio 2 curriculum. She's a real gem and a true fount of wisdom. 10/10 would take again.
Professor D'Alessio is a wonderful teacher. She gives great lectures (which she records so you can review them!) and she is very reasonable when it comes to due dates. She writes her own labs, so there is a lot of printing. She is very clear about what from the labs and lectures will be on the exams. One of the best professors I have had.
Prof. D'Alessio is the perfect professor for Biology 2. I learned so much more than I thought was possible. She's a great resource and just a terrific human being in general. She's the type of professor that I hope I stay in contact with in the years to come.
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Lectures are amazing and recorded, so you can watch later on. Biology isnt easy, but she makes a lot easier. All my friends that took Bio I with a different professor are retaking it with her because the other professors just dont teach anything. I wish I could have her for all my classes! Im taking bio 2 with her too!
Bio 1 is notorious for being a difficult class, but it's made easier by a professor who obviously loves the subject. She is very clear on what she expects from you, and the textbook is free so don't buy one. I took it over the summer so it was fast-paced, but doable. She makes herself available to answer any and all questions and responds quickly.
Science isn't my strong suit so Bio 1 didn't come easy to me. But I have to say, I probably would have done 10x worse if I had not chosen D'Alessio. She loves her job and does NOT want to fail her students. Lots of info in lectures, lots of long discussions (sometimes too long). Always fast at responding. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IN SUMMER LIKE I DID
I took professor D'Alessio last semester, and she is great. So lovable, and easy to approach. Her lectures ARE NOT just reading from the powerpoint. She actually puts in the time to explain every single slide and makes it so much easier to understand. Don't hesitate to ask her any questions, she is always willing to work with the student. Take her!
I only put easy A because if you do the work you will pass but by no means is this class easy. The material she teaches she makes sure you know them. Professor is really sweet, human, and funny. I wish I could have taken her for Bio 1. Honestly if you study the material she tells you to study then you will pass.
Honestly the best professor I have ever taken. Do the work and prepare for exams a week in advance and it's an easy A. She is hilarious and caring and extremely passionate about her work. It's refreshing to be around such an awesome professor.
Professor Professor D'Alessio is very wise and kind but her class is a bit excessive . I advise you don't take hard classes while you're taking her. Her class is very stressful. Time management is key in this class. This class will take up majority of your time with all the quizes and assignments and studying. This class gave me so much anxiety.
Professor D'Alessio is amazing!! Prepares you for future science courses. Quizzes on lectures/online + labs/class. Exams are straight forward if you study the material covered. (LISTEN) to her when she is lecturing, power-points, lab notes and quizzes are great tools for study guides. Knowledgeable, kind, understanding. God Bless!!
She was a really good professor, she makes you like a boring class and actually enjoy her lectures. I took her for Bio 1 and was glad to take her for Bio 2 as well, definitely the best professor
She is the most organized professor I have ever had. She posts video recordings of all her lectures. Prof DAlessio is very smart and funny. It was so interesting to listen her lectures! If u will do all labs, online quizzes, and listen her lectures u will definitely get an A. Take her, she is definitely the best bio professor in Valencia!
Best professor at Valencia by far. Super organized and funny. Down to earth and very understanding. Do yourself a favor and take herfor bio2 she also teaches bio 1 which am sure she is also awesome at! highly recommend!!!
Great Professor! Tests are the same as power point and take home quizzes. She also gives a lot of extra credit. Finals is easy because it's based on the previous quizzes and tests. She also uploads her lectures so you can re-watch it at your own pace. Do yourself a favor and take her. However, like any class you do need to study for a good grade.
She's amazing! I never considered myself good at science, so I was super nervous for Bio. Turns out- I did really well & actually enjoyed the class. Her lectures were engaging and interesting. Extra credit is offered regularly. It's not an easy A, but if you pay attention in class and study, you'll be fine. I wish she still taught micro! TAKE HER!!
Seriously, do yourself a favor and take her class! She made Bio lectures interesting. She offers extra credit regularly, and really cares about how her students do. If you pay attention in class, study the powerpoints and quizzes you'll do well. I wish she taught micro. I'd take her again in a heartbeat! Can't recommend her enough!
12 labs, 12 weekly lab quizzes, 16 online lecture quizzes, 4 unit exams, 1 final. Exams have questions from the online quizzes and labs. 5 pts ec per exam. Prof D is very nice, organized, & the lectures are recorded. Powerpoint based lectures can get boring, but she tries her best to engage everyone. The content is difficult, so you must study!
Prof. D lectures from her own powerpoints and the class has lab quizzes and online lecture quizzes. 4 tests, 1 final. Getting an A is doable, but you must study her powerpoints at least twice and rewatch the lecture videos as the tests are very specific. There are no surprises, and the online quiz format is the same as the test.
Shes a really great person and I would mostly have been friends w/ her outside of class (LOTS of young prof jokes). However, in class, I wanted to implode. She wants you to memorize so many domains and families of bacteria, protists, plants etc. Goes mostly off of PowerPoints but tries to trick you. If youre taking Comp Sci, TAKE CHEM INSTEAD!!
Professor D'Alessio is a really caring and helpful professor. She's funny and puts some of her lectures into real life scenarios to make it easier to understand. TAKE HER CLASS , YOU WONT REGRET IT!
She is by far my favorite professor. She is really tough but she gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Its already a hard class in college, but she made it interesting and fun. Just make sure to study hard and use the tools she provides. Do yourself a favor and take her!!!
Great teacher, takes the time to make sure you understand. Answers all questions and give examples related to real life events. Extra credit option for each section including final exam.
Prof. D' Alessio is funny, kind, and organized. 4 unit exams, 1 final, and online quizzes which are mostly based on the PPT's. Labs are easy, along with the weekly lab quizzes. There are NO lab practicals and textbook use, which alone sets her apart from the others. Extra credit is avilable. Also, lectures are recorded. STUDY and you will pass.
I took Bio in high school and I don't remember the class being as entertaining like Professor D'alessio class. Make sure to do all the labs she doesn't check to see if it's completed correctly just put in the effort. When taking her unit exams studying the quizzes and labs should help out. The class can get stressful but she's here for you.
By far my favorite professor I've taken so far at Valencia. She makes it very clear what is expected of you and is very organized. There are 4 exams and 1 final + 5 extra credit assignments. She's super nice and funny and genuinely cares about her students. Not an easy A but as long as you study the material you'll do great! 10/10 would recommend!!
Shes is absolutely amazing!!! Best professor Ive had. She breaks bio down as best as possible. Loved her little ranks about bio makes you really look at things different. All of the reviews are spot on. TAKE HER
Prof. D'Alessio is by far my favorite professor at Valencia. She makes Bio fun and hilarious while still instilling tons of useful knowledge into the course. She gives a lot of quizzes but they are ultimately there to help you on your exams, and they really do! She is awesome and anyone who is planning on taking Bio should really take her class.
Professor D'Alessio is super fun! Her lectures are really heavy, there is a lot to memorize, but if you stay on top of the game you can easily get a B.
Prof. D is pretty great but beware the class itself is very challenging so no matter how good the professor is you will have a substantial amount of work to do on your own. An A is definitely doable in the class if you pay attention to her lectures and go back and rewatch the videos she provides. Class contains 4 unit test, lots of quizzes and labs
This class was a lot of work. I wouldn't say it was the hardest class ive taken, but you definitely have to work for an A. Prof does teach very well and is funny. There is a lab quiz every lab day and pre lab and post lab questions. Tests are 50 questions and pretty hard. Make sure you study the quizzes for the test!!!
Great teacher. This class isn't an easy A so you can't just get by. There's a lab quiz on every lab day and you have to do your packets. The pre-lab questions will help you with the lab quizzes. Tests are 50 questions and study the online quizzes to help with them. Hard work can definitely get you an A.
D'Alessio is an absolute gem. I took her for Bio 1 & 2. She genuinely cares about her students success and wants them to pass. She is extremely outgoing and very flexible, you just need to meet her halfway. She doesn't believe in making things harder than they need to be. I really wish she taught more science classes. Favorite professor by far.
Prof. D was a great professor, she really watered down everything and made sure everyone understood the materials. She has online recordings of herself that could be watched for better explanation and shes ALWAYS available to help. The class is slightly challenging but if you listen to her tips and do all your work the class is not hard, time consum
One of the most stand out professors. Really knowledgeable, knows how to make her presentations interesting and engaging; even sharing her own experiences. Gives excellent material to help you learn and prepare for exams/quizzes. She wants students to succeed! Organized, approachable, fun, creative, helpful. Take her, no exceptions. Except sponges.
Easy classs !!! If you dont take her youre missing out. She gives amazing lectures and her exams are not tricky
She was great in the beginning. After the online switch not so much. We now had to go over the lectures on our own, lab videos on our own AND attend mandatory zoom classes that did nothing but chit chat about random things. The sem. was cut short but we still completed every exam, labs, and quizzes. She doubled the work and saw nothing wrong.
Got easy A in her class because: So much extra credit, quizzes are open book, exams are the same format as the quizzes; she just changes the wording around, has awesome lectures and question sessions, very understandable when we switched over to online because of the outbreak, plus she's EXTREMELY ORGANIZED! She knows what she is doing! TAKE HER!!
Took her for Bio 1 and 2 and highly recommend! Hidden gem of a professor and is really passionate about her job! All my friends know shes a go to for Bio!
I took her this spring, and we had 5 exams, online quizzes for each lecture, and lab quizzes. Her lectures are long and she talks a lot and goes off topic. Her exams are exactly like her online quizzes, but some maybe a little harder. She was good before we switched online, but when we did she was too extreme about some things
Professor D'Alessio is awesome. She tries her best to make the very long lectures as interesting as possible. She was also really great at the whole online class thing. Personally, I found that studying the quizzes are one of the best ways to study. There's a lot of memorization. Do the extra credit, it helps!
Tests were identical to quizzes (which are on quizlet) when we were in person. When we transitioned online she was paranoid about her exams being leaked and her exams were nothing like the quizzes, she made us download lockdown browser and zoom to watch us while we took her exam, I don't understand how she has the rating she does.. She's ridiculous
In what was def. a hard semester for everyone, Prof. D handled things well. We still met weekly on zoom, but it was optional. She was also always available/responsive (zoom/email). Exams were supervised online instead of at testing center. Takes cheating seriously (rare quality). Slackers beware. Not an easy A, but hard for the right reasons.
A LOT OF WORK. Lab work has a lot of pages. You have do it by hand writing, and you get only 1 point or zero, so that a giant amount of work basically means nothing for your grade. 5 exams (each has 50 questions-each question may have up to 8 questions, so you get approximately 80 questions). You have to be a genius to get an A. DONT TAKE HER!!!
I took her during Spring 2020 for Bio 2. I was moved online due to COVID, which is why my rating went down from a 5. She is an AMAZING professor and she really cares, but this is a hard class online. She watches you through zoom during tests if you're uncomfortable with that. You have to work really hard for a B or A.
Shes a great professor, I would recommend. I actually took Prof. D for both Bio 1&2 (shes that good). I did pretty well in Bio 1 because it was concept based but Bio 2 was just cold memorization which I struggled with a LOT. I ended with an 89.13% but I feel like if Rona hadnt happened I wouldve def. got an A, the class was much harder online.
She is an amazing professor, she really cares about her students. This class is A LOT of memorization so it's not any easy class. You need to work very hard for an A.
You HAVE to put in the work. Now that its online I think its so much harder. The labs are extremely long and dreadful and you only get 1 point. Your grade is mainly the tests but she offers Extra Credit. She always give feedback & is always available for her students. She definitely wants you to be successful but its hard! Lots of memorization!!
Professor D'Alessio is phenomenal! She really cares about her students and tries her best to set you up for success. You will work hard in this class but she's clear about that and why. Trust me, her system works. An A in BIO is possible in her class when it seems impossible in others. She's funny, smart, engaging, caring; what more could you want?
Alot of memorization. Took her for summer so class was shortened. Long labs since she likes you to draw and write everything out, but info is found on the powerpoints and/or easily googleable. Questions from the lecture quizzes are commonly found on the exam, so study the quizzes.
This teacher expects too much of you. The labs are insane and take hours, not because they are hard, but because they are tedious. Unnecessary busy work. The professor's responses are not tailored to individual students and it is obvious. Tests are not really curved and never dropped. Professor is not aware of how much UNNECESSARY work she requires
It matters how what is going on in the real world when in college. The world is not black and white. There is a national pandemic and a lot of professors seem to think that this is the time to be harder on students. This teacher gives way too much work and the exams are ridiculous. Each question has an in depth sub question. Labs are ridiculous too
There are 4 units and a cumulative final exam. Each unit has 3-4 lectures and each has its own quiz. There are 11 labs. Most of the lab assignments are anywhere from 5-15 pages long (most closer to 10-15) and have many questions. The labs alone can take hours to do. The exams are exceedingly difficult and take many hours of studying.
She's an amazing teacher but it's a lot of work. The labs and everything you have to do is too much.
She's a terrible professor. I took her last spring and she was unwilling to work with the students amid the pandemic that forced us to go online. Everything went from easy breezy to nothing being related to the content she was teaching. She watched us take the exams by using zoom on our phones while we took the test with lockdown browser. TERRIBLE!
Gives assignments and exams on ARBITRARY dates. Gives lab assignments the day before an exam so you must learn ALL the content for that particular lab and memorize it the DAY BEFORE an exam. Ridiculous! Too much work and exams are about 50 question but more like 100 with each sub question on the questions. INSANE.
Lectures are good and she is hilarious; however, I wouldn't recommend her to any friend because the amount of work is huge for the few points we receive. The exams are hard and you have to memorize everything that is written in the slides. The labs require several hours to be completed to earn only1 point and you have to memorize all the drawings.
This is the best prof. The work is hard but she's there for you every step of the way. Very understanding and pretty cool. Take her!
Professor D'Alessio is one of the nicest and most understanding professors you will come by! This class covers a lot of information, however, it is very doable as long as you study and try your best. Don't be shy to reach out for help. She stays available to her students & gets back to you within a very short time which I really appreciated :)
I took this class online due to Covid-19, and let me just tell you that, for a science online class, she nailed it! She had recorded lectures of her teaching live, and posted PowerPoints, so learning was no problem. Beware, the material for the course is a little heavy, but she gives you everything you need to succeed, you just need to study hard.
ATTENTION!!!! if u want ur GPA to drop go ahead and take it, her grading doesn't make sense because when u think u have a B in reality u have C. Also did I mention my friend dropped out because in order for u to get good grade u will have to study for 6 hours at least. Tests are hard and u will have to go to the testing center in order to take it.
Professor is very funny but it wasnt funny after seeing my grade drop because this class is a joke. Thick lab packets every week, stressful quizzes every week, 30 so pages of PowerPoint notes and tests I had to go out my way to schedule in the testing lab since she never allowed in class testing resulting into no free time and Fs . RUNNNNNN
Prof D. is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. She really cares about you and will do anything to help you throughout the semester. I had some personal problems and she helped me a lot to stay on track. The class is not easy, a lot of memorization and hard work to get an A, but the lectures and the powerpoints are amazing and helpful
My experience in Prof. D' Alessio's class was very pleasant. It was the first time I experienced what it was like to have a science teacher who wants you to succeed and does everything in their power to do so. She really does give you a lot of help in this class so my best advice would be to take it! Gives Extra Credit!!!!
I've taken Prof D three times and highly enjoy her instruction! Her class is the hardest I've ever taken, but her instruction and commitment makes a difficult course totally doable! She's brilliant, organized, and consistent! 16 quizes, 4 exams, 1 final, and 5 extra credit assignments. Watch the lectures twice and study the lecture quiz to get an A
Professor D'Alessio is very understanding of her students' schedules and is willing to accommodate their circumstances. Her class is distinctly broken down into 3 categories: Lecture, Lab, Lecture Quiz. The Lectures that are given are mostly 3 hours, however, they are beneficial.
This course consists of 4 unit exams the 5th on being the final. For the week you just watch a lecture on the topic and then complete the quiz and lab. Some weeks may have more then one topic. She has a TON OF EXTRA CREDIT! It was so worth it at the end! Overall, amazing professor and she is always there to help you succeed.
I took professor D'Alessio's class online because of the coronavirus pandemic. This class has a lot of lecture but there is no required reading. And all of the information you will need to know for the exams is provided in the lectures. Professor D'Alessio is great at explaining things and really easy to communicate with.
Professor D'Alessio is an excellent teacher and transformed Bio 2 course with the lab to fit the covid guidelines. This course is loaded with information but the organization and detailed lectures more than makeup for the level of difficulty. Several extra credit opportunities are provided during the semester. If you work hard you will pass!
Dr. Alessio is a great professor, she always manages to take time & make sure each student understands the concepts. The class is hard, you have to study her powerpoints, lectures, and read through the book to do well on her exams. She also curves sometimes. She's a great professor, its not an easy class but you have to put in the effort to succeed
Prof. D has been phenomenal to say the least! This class has a lot of material to cover/remember but she structures the course with each section with a good balance. TAKE ALL THE EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES! Review the quiz's as they will help you for the exams, especially the final. Take advantage of the office hours. YOU WON'T REGRET IT! :)
Prof. D is the most caring professor I have ever had. The class isn't easy, it does require hours of studying, long lecture videos. I recommend studying a few days before the exam. Do all of the extra credit, and ask questions if you are struggling. She is available almost everyday of the week and will answer any questions you have. I loved her!
Best professor I've ever had. Haven't finished the class yet, but I'm confident in my grade because she's always there to help and I know what to expect on exams. Quizzes are designed as study tools for the exam. She also has review sessions after exams to go over what you missed. She's great at communicating and wants students to succeed.
Professor D was one of the best professors Ive ever had. She truly cares about her students and their success. Shes incredibly knowledgeable and will take the time to help you on anything. The work load is a lot, and you MUST dedicate many hours a week to this class. Put in the time and you will pass.
You would feel stressed just LOOKING at assignments. I have taken some Valencia courses online and this is the worst. I wish some Professors would understand that students have other classes to take and their class isn't the only one that requires time. With the time spent studying in this class I don't know how I'm going to pass my other classes.
There is literally 99 graded assignments, not including the extra things you'd have to study. I failed my other classes because I spent so much time trying to pass this class. I understand this is a college course, but I have taken many science credits before and I haven't done one so stressful. If your taking 2 or more classes with this you'd fail
Apparently she doesn't think I sleep. I'm a normal human yet I don't have time for things because I spent all my time worrying about this class not to mention my OTHER CLASSES, (yes I have more hw to do) Look, I get we have to learn, but this is too much. My pet is gone because I didn't have enough time to care for it unless I won't sleep. Thanks.
Honestly, Professor Alessio is a fantastic person and all but she gives a lot of work especially having to draw all the labs out was pretty ridiculous i spent more time on those than studying which caused me to fail the class. Intensely rigorous course especially to take in the summer while taking 3 other classes.
Online Course: Literally the best professor I've ever had. It's a super hard class. Take advantage of discord to study with other classmates before the exams. Exam review tells you the letter grade needed on future exams. Extra Credit for every exam. Took 3 classes, including this one, and it's 100% manageable. Make sure you LISTEN to the lectures
Professor D'Alessio is amazing. She is kind, caring, supportive. She truly knows what she is talking about and explains it in the best way possible. She posts lectures (very important to watch) that explain everything you need to know. Requires a lot of work and time but this class is so much fun and Prof D is great.
Amazing teacher. I would definitely take her again. She is always there when you need her and very understanding. This class is A LOT but if you take the time and put effort youll pass. Lectures are very long but detailed. She gives everything you need to pass this class.
I took Professor D Alessio's course in Spring 2019. She creates all of her own material, instead of using the textbook or Quizlet. This is very rare nowadays. You must study and dedicate time to Bio 1. If you think this course is hard, than change your major. If transferring to UCF, be ready for Dr. Samsam and Flory, their A LOT harder!!!
Prof D is AMAZING! She is always there when you need help! I swear its like Im texting a friend, she is always available. The lectures are long, but they are designed for you to break it up! No surprises on the exam, if you watch the lecture, you will be fine. She makes the material easy to comprehend. I wish i can ramble on more but word limit ha-
Professor D is AMAZINGGG and as long as you communicate with her you will be fine! She's one of the rare professors that genuinely cares about her student's success not their grade! The environment that she creates despite being an online class is something most professors won't take two seconds out of their day to do.
She is a very kind, understanding, and amazing person. Do not be afraid to schedule meetings with her to go over your tests, get help with homework or anything pertaining to the course. She will meet you where you are at and help you the best she can.
If you like to study n learn this class is for u. Her lectures r clear, she helps u to understand the content. Gives good feedback, responds quickly. No hw, just study n lecture quizzes which r all based on lectures. Her labs are interesting and easy. You have to understand the content to pass, exams r easy if u study lectures. gives extracredit
I took Professor D for Bio 1 and 2. She only gives 1 lecture quiz that is based on the PowerPoint and a lab to do each week. If you're efficient with your time, the work should only take 2-3 hours a week for Bio 1 and 4-5 hours for Bio 2 IF you don't watch the lectures. I only did the PowerPoints and did fine but the videosarestill helpful ifneeded
She is an amazing teacher, very understanding and will work with you. Use the meeting times, quizzes are open notes and as long as you study, you will pass this class.
This class is very tough but if you are a STEM student it is totally worth it. The professor is excellent and teaches well but there is a LOT of information to learn which requires many hours of studying. I loved this class and wish I had taken this professor for Biology I. Not an easy A class but you will definitely learn.
Professor D is an amazing professor, and she cares about her students. she gives a lot of extra credit. Although she is great, her class was the hardest class I have ever taken in Valencia. A lot of homework and very long labs. Don't take her if you are taking another class. she is awesome overall, but be prepared to study a lot.
She is an excellent teacher. I caught her in mix mode, so she would put one chapter per week and explain all the material very well. Lectures are around 3 hours long, but you can watch it during the week. She helps students pass with a good grade. The labs are very dynamic and interesting. The subjects are very heavy, so you need to study hard.
Professor D'Alessio is extremely knowledgeable and nice. Her online course was very thorough and the way she did tests allowed for anything that is not clear to be answered by her, instead of leaving it to chance. She is also an extremely responsive professor, which is a huge plus if one wants to thoroughly learn the content.
Bio2 labs and lectures are LONG. Do labs while watching lectures. Takes an entire day of work, or several days broken up. Extra credit if you participate in discussions. Curves hard exams. Prof is tech savvy. Exams are multiple choice, or pick from wordbank with some wrong choices mixed in. Not hard, just tedious. Flash cards (anki?) FTW!
Professor D'Alessio was nothing short of AMAZING! I love her because she is highly knowledgeable in Biology and always shares her knowledge. Although her lectures are long, and the labs are time-consuming, and her tests are proctored, you really learn a lot in this class! I took her for Biology 1 and 2 and she is just phenomenal.
Prof D was an absolute angel! She has all the information for a student to be able to succeded in her class and in the future. She comes with her own content of information for mircobiology.Truth be told I believe that she contains not only better explanations but also it's not completly draining to listen to. You have to really study!!
She is a good professor but her exams are extremely heavy in material. I want to be a nurse not a microbiologist. Her chapter online quizzes are 10 questions that will take you 3h to complete. It's overwhelming. Half of the class dropped on the first week. On exams she makes you facetime with her plus the school website to take the exam.
She is not cut out for online teaching. The amount of work is INSANE and undoable for an online student. There are proctored exams every few weeks & lectures were 2-3 hours long and sometimes there was more than one! The WEEKLY labs were elaborate, including hours of drawings. The workload was so heavy that I did not learn a thing, just survived.
I absolutely loved Professor D'Alessio! She was an amazing professor and although there was a lot of work, she was always willing to help. We used Discord and she was very active on it. Her exams were somewhat hard, but if you put in the work and study, then you will be fine! Her lectures were long but they were super helpful.
Prof. D is AMAZING! She genuinely cares about your success and puts great effort into making the course as comprehensive and organized, as possible. No textbook needed; all materials are provided in video lectures and virtual labs, with abundant extra credit opportunities. Zoom exam sessions are not just to monitor cheating but to provide support.
Prof. D is an amazing Professor. The lab work is very lengthy but she gives you enough time to complete it. Beware though, you will have to study for exams because despite them being online and on lock down browser, she does require you to be on zoom as you take the test. There are also multiple extra credit opportunities on Canvas and Discord.
Great and fun professor! Lots of material, be ready to study and memorize a lot. If you do your part, you will do great! Offers extra credit
Bio 2 is a hard topic already. Course was offered solely online and I took it during summer(I do not recommend this but I still got a B). The information is loaded, however prof gives extra credit for every test, and is extremely helpful. 70% of grade is tests. Exams are proctored online. Very tech savvy, great use of discord. I loved this course.
For some reason she makes her class excessively heavy. I think that if this was an in person class it would be acceptable. PLEASE listen to me when I say this: This is NOT for u if u have to work! The reason why u take an online class is to be able to balance work/school and this class will just make you depressed. Take someone else.
One of the best Profs I've ever had. Well-organized Canvas + awesome Discord group makes it easy to reach her. Genuinely cares about her students. Bio 2 is generally hard, but her HW is graded on effort, there's TONS of extra credit (I got ~7% bonus per exam) & she curves exams when needed. Put in the time, keep in touch with Prof. D & you'll pass.
She is absolutely the worst , I KID you not. Took this same class with a professor at ucf and i got an A. Don't take her. She is nice but a little overbearing.
She's easy to reach out via discord. Extra credit queen honestly, 5 pts for watching a doc and writing down facts and 3 pts for discord points/ranks. Proctored via Zoom. I would honestly sell my left kidney for her to teach at UCF for chem or something because she put out information that is both interesting/actually on the exam (no time wasted).
I would 100% recommend. Yes i did withdraw from her class but she was an amazing professor. The exams are really hard and there is a heavy amount of homework but its bio 2 so it was expected. Exams are done live on zoom with her and lockdown browser. STUDY and DO THE HOMEWORK or you will not pass. She does everything on discord with i loved.
Professor D is SUPER caring and considerate. You have to be ready to invest a lot of time into the course if you want a good grade. You can expect to spend 8-12 hours on her course in a week. There are a lot of lectures but as long as you manage your time you should be able to get through them. She does give out extra credit opportunities!
Prof D is the best teacher I've EVER had. I took Bio1 onlne/sum, and I couldn't have survived without her support. The summer class is extremely fast-paced, I often spent 18 hrs/wk on this class. Tke advntge of the extra credit, it will save you. It's easy to get in touch with her. She gnuinely wants you to succeed and provdes all the ncssry tools.
Professor D'Alessio is an excellent instructor. The course is challenging but she provides plenty of extra credit and helpful resources like Discord. Utilizing tools like Unstuck ai can make the workload more manageable. Put in the effort and you'll learn a ton.
This is hands down the BEST professor I have ever taken. She is SO helpful! Her use of discord made everything so much better, communication wise and info wise. Tests are also not on honorlock thankfully, but through zoom & lockdown browser. Course is difficult, but she teaches you good study skills. Love being active in discord, free points!! :)
She's amazing! This class is tough, but she makes it so much easier with all the resources she provides. The labs are time-consuming but super helpful, and I learned a ton. There are 5 live proctored tests on Zoom, each with 50-75 questions. She also offers plenty of extra credit and really cares about her students. Highly recommend taking her!

Prof D is amazing at what she does. Weekly online Youtube lectures that range from 1-4 hours, weekly quizzes, 3 midterms, and 1 cumulative final. Lab is weekly for 3 hours and is fun, with lab workbooks due about a week from each lab. She gives tons of extra credit and curves exams. Study the ppts and you'll pass! She uses discord to communicate
Great teacher who cares about her students. Extra credit definitely helps! The use of discord adds an element of community to an online class that I didn't know I needed until I had experienced it. Very information-dense class. Professor proctors exams using Zoom. Exams are not easy and a large part of grade. Study, study study!
Honestly learned more in her class than any other college course I've taken. She's really great at what she does and makes a difficult subject interesting. The material is very heavy but if you have time management, you'll be just fine. Try not to wait last minute and turn even the smallest credit assignments in! If I did it, so can you :)
She is nice and offers a lot of extra credit. I took her online. She makes you draw multiple diagrams and pictures every lab. I can't draw and the drawings are of no benefit to me afterwards they're so bad. I wouldn't take her again strictly because of the drawing. Its Bio 2, not art class. Her tests are also really hard. Easy B class, hard A w/ ec
She's okay with the extra credit, but it doesn't really help out much. she takes forever to put grades in, for lab practicals in class you have to switch your papers with someone else so they can grade it, when you take your exam you have to show everything. my tip is to study the lecture quizzes and she's good at texting back via discord.
This professor is great at conveying the difficult topics in biology.
Tediously difficult. Labs are 10+ pages long filled with questions most of which involve drawing. Uses Lockdown Browser with Zoom on your phone able to see your whole desk to ensure no cheating. Movie-length lectures and expects you to memorize everything for 50 question exams worth 70% of your grade.
This professor is great, she is understanding, and she wants you to succeed. Microbiology isn't easy, and she didn't pretend it was, but she motivates us into finding our best learning method, which is a game-changer. She does give extra credit, helps a lot by end of term, and she is understanding with due dates. I loved having her as a professor.
Overall, she is nice, understanding, and very knowledgable. The weekly labs are 10+ pages long and there is a LOT of drawing activities which I found very tedious and never ending especially having her movie long lectures to keep up with. Communication is on Discord. Exams are on Lockdown and she watches you on zoom and are about 50 questions
This is my first time ever writing a RMP review, so I can basically tell you that I had a great time with this professor, especially since I was taking an online class. I can say with confidence that if you want to pass your Bio 2 class relatively easily while having fun along the way and need someone to help you out, this is the professor! 10/10!!
Incredible professor. Lectures are VERY information dense but she makes them fun, informative, and engaging. Expect to put in 12-18 hours a week. Lots of hand-written labs and the exams are pretty difficult. That being said, she is amazing with how much feedback she gives you. She truly wants you to succeed in this class. I learned a lot! 10/10.
