Nice lady, but she is not much of a teacher. Easy classwork but bad use of time
Great teacher! Made me a better critical thinker through all of the papers.
Great teacher! Things easy and fun to understand, very helpful and approachable!
Had problems understanding what she was looking for in answers on tests/papers
had to write alot of papers but good learning, great teacher, really nice!!!
A textbook would be better than pages upon pages of unclear notes!
Love History... Love Teaching!
She is very nice and has a great sense of humor. The downside is you have to read about 5 books and write papers on all of them.
excellent teacher; funny, loves the subjects, understandable; her notes are so comprehensive and helpful; assigns great reading - entertaining and fun. Great classes!!
She is not Dull. There may be a lot of lectures but that is the nature of the class. She tries very hard, and does a good job.
Class and exams are tough with a lot of work, but she makes it easier. Lots of class activities are very helpful, and she is always clear on what she wants in assignments and on exams. Highly recommended.
Horrible! This women and her 15 pages of notes make me sick! She is very unclear as to what she wants on assignments, and exams. I wish I had taken someone else for this class.
She knows her subject, and makes it fun to learn. Her tests can be a bit of a challange at first, but by the end of the semester, I thought they were pretty simple.
very helpful, especially with e-mailing the notes, and letting you review them before hand.
Very good teacher. She's nice and makes the class somewhat fun. Laura Dull is best history teacher that Delta has.
Very good teacher. SHe really knows what she is talking about and loves her subject. I took 2 history classes with her and completly loved her. Keep it Up Mrs. Dull!!!!!!
She loves what she does and it's reflected in how well she does it. She knows a LOT and tells it in an interesting story-like way. Her tests are fair. The class can be a lot of work, but it's history - it's the nature of the subject. She's very helpful.
Nice person to deal with, even listens to my opinions! I would say she is looking out for you!
Very hard to get a good grade. Had to struggle to get a B-. Decent teacher but grades very hard and expects you to write a novel on tests, at least 4 pages per question to get a B.
She doesn't grade that hard. She expects you to think critically about the subject. The only thing I didn't like was rapid writing.
Nice, kinda boring though... I think it's because she covers more culture then wars. Its a 4 cred. class so there is a fair amount of hw. Don't take 8am class.
cool teacher, easy to talk to, very helpful. shows an intrest in wht you do in the class room and out side the class room. only thing i didnt like was all the e-mails and the online stuff
This is a challenging class, not an easy A, but she's an awesome lecturer. I don't even need the class, but I'm glad I took it. She's interested in what you have to say, too, and doesn't just read from an overhead.
Demanding Class but a very good class. She is always willing to help a student out.
She is a great teacher. Yet the work piles up quick in the first week. So be prepared for an overload but once you get into the swing of things its ok.
Pretty good prof, kind of hard, very particular. Exams very involved. Knows what she wants from students, and expects it. Moves quickly!
This class was difficult, but an amazingly fun class. I learned a whole ton.
She is crazy! At ramdom points in time she just flips out and goes nuts, Giving out 3 and 4 page papers because she's boring and no one anwsers her.
Anyone who can't handle this class or instructor should not be in college but in day care, or perhaps in pursuit of a career in the fast food industry. You read, you write (a little--in college, two pages is NOTHING), you discuss. That's it; that's as "hard" as it gets.
Nice teacher, good class. She pushes you but it's necessary if you want to understand whats going on in the class. Not an easy class but it's interesting and you learn a lot. The kinda are kinda hard but if you know the material you'll be fine
she's an awesome teacher. when she lectures, it's very class oriented and you almost forget that you should be taking notes. but make sure you take notes, that's where her essay's come from and you'll be screwed if you don't have good notes
This is a good class. Mrs. Dull does everything necessary for you to learn the material. There is no easy way out, but if you work hard you'll do well.
Ton of homwork. It never slows down. If you can handle it should do very well. Lets you use a 4 X 6 card on every test
I really enjoyed her class, she is a very good teacher and she knows what she is doing. Alot of work though, her tests a difficult but if you study then you should do fine. I recommend anyone to take her.
Lectures were boring, tough grader, expects you to copy everything out of the book on homework and on tests just to get an A. Don't take her if you expect a good grade
Blew the class of most of the semester; tried to make it up the last couple of weeks, but just missed out on getting a C. Class isn't that hard if you like history. Extra things like modules were my only complaint of the class. Really nice teacher who wants everyone to do well.
i am not interested in history at all so this was a tough class for me. she was a good teacher though, knows what she is talking about but you have to pay really good attention to do good on the tests. you have to have 2-3 page essays and remember important people in depth. also you do hard journa
Laura was a great instructor, she was willing to help with anything. I hated history before her class, now I am going to miss it.Very clear in what she wants granted there is alot of work but if you show your trying you will do well definatly take Laura she knows what shes talking about!
This class involves more reading and work than any classes I've taken at Delta, and I almost have my associates. It involves reading 20-25 pg. chapters and memorizing every detail. You also have to write a 1-2 page essay on each chapter. Tests are crazy (all Essay Ques.)! I dropped this class. It was well worth the 500 $ to get out!

I loved history before taking Dull's class. She has made it so miseralbe for me. 25-30 pages to read and you have to take your own notes and you dont even know what to take notes on untill the first test and then its too late because you already failed it. She is way hard and I don't recommend her unless you are a history geek.
Too many essays!!! If your good at writing essays then take this class. She gives a lot of homework(essays), but sticks with the book. The class is not easy even for me. I enjoy history, but couldn't as much in this class, because I had to focus on writing. However, she does cover the material pretty well.
Essays are a big, big part of this class. Notes have to be over the enitre chapter (2 a week) and highlighted to bring out people, places, and events. Not to mention you have to keep a source journal of one article every week with explanations/essays. This all compiles into a professional folder and has a reflection written in the back! Ugh!
She made history really cool and she explained things very well. Lots of papers to write but they keep you on top of things. Really sweet too.
I still have nightmares about her! Take someone else, Mrs. Dull lives up to her name. She's a history freak, get a life.
To much homework andand u have to take way to much notes and barly ever use them. History is never been interesting to me but she made it more interesting and easier for me to understand but I wouldn't recommend to take this class
I really enjoyed the class. I always thought history was a dull subject, but it turned out to be a very good one because of Mr.s Dull. She is sort of tough, but fair, andn understands what the student is here for - to be educated and learn things. I would highly recommend taking her.
the work load is rather heavy, but Laura is pretty cool. she isn't unreasonable or mean. She will work with and is very helpful. you will learn in this class, so if that isn't your thing take another class...
I agree with the comment that she is very helpful. I ran into a problem in misinterpreting a topic last week. She suggested that we meet, so I went to her office. She listened to what I was thinking about and she clarified some points, even apologizing for not being clear enough on that one point. She is cool, (but she is hot, too!)
You will have tons of work! Let me make that clear ahead of time. I cant believe how much I learned. I have always loved history, but she makes it more enjoyable even. Put your critical thinking caps on..you'll need it. I adored this class, and this professor is a master at it. She's helpful, smart, considerate, and an all around great prof.
history is not all that exciting, but it was somewhat painless if you were willing to put forth some effort. class wasn't that difficult, but reading the book and a weekly essay made it a pain.
She keeps it interesting and fun
Laura Dull was a load of work but I learned a lot from her. She was interesting on what she taught but she didn't always provide students the time to ask her many questions. I have to say one thing, she let us take an index card with us in the testing center because there so much to remember. All in all, Lecture classes are not for me.
Unless you already have an interest in history and a great deal of patience I wouldn’t recommend this professor. She can usually get her subject matter across in lectures, but they are very boring and do nothing to capture much interest. Her class is also full of pointless group work that brings back memories of middle school.
I took History 112 online. It is the best online history class I have had by far. Laura is a good Prof for the most part, although her syllabus was not as detailed as it should have been, which led to me losing a few points. So ask questions if you have them before you lose points!
This professor is very particular about the work you do and the responses to questions. She really knows her history but you have to be very detailed in assignments
This class is not the easiest class you will take. It takes a lot of commitment and wanting to learn. Laura will feed you everything you need to get an A, you just need to be there and take it in. Laura was one of the best professors I have had at Delta.
This class is a lot of work. She seems to be a fair teacher as long as you don't express your political views. Because if she doesn't agree with them...then you're in trouble...
laura dull is a well educated professor, you will be doing the 6+ hrs per week outside of class. papers happen often and it is not enough to just read the text to do well to pass a weekly quiz. It has dull group oriented inside class that gets annoying most wont get involved.
Laura is an O.K. teacher. I would advise to only take western civ if it is something that you really are into. The stuff in the book and what you go over, have to be things you are interested in or else you may crash and burn. Also a prior knowledge of history in that time frame will help you very much!! She is helpful, and fun to have though!
Laura is a good teacher. She is there to help, but only if you ask first. She is understanding. I liked the learning community. It was easier to make friends the class was close. She's funny and likes to act things out and tell her own stories about what's going on in the book.
She is amazing! Great teacher! Helpful and makes you want to learn! Loved her enough to sign up for HIS 112 with her!
She is a great instructor. She is very educated and knows what she is talking about. I highly recommend to take her. Even if you are not interested in History she makes the class interesting. A lot of work, but you will remember it after this class is long over with.
At first I had a hard time keeping up with Dull because she's a little scatter-brained; but once I figured out her teaching style I got an A on almost everything in class. She's a really good professor and very passionate about history. You will have to work hard, but it's worth it. I'd recomend her.
Simply great.
HARD GRADER! If you ask dumb questions, you will get dumb answers. She asks one question, but grades on a way different one. Doesn't answer e-mails on time, paper writing freek! On a power trip, very rude to her students. Basically tells them they are dumb. Acts superior than everyone. I DO NOT recomment her it was horrible! I dont mind workbut wow
Lots of fun in class. Works with your learning style. I loved this class!
Great teacher. Everything in the class builds on the previous materials. This class will really give you a chance to learn about how religion's came to be and how power has influenced the world. She assigns a lot of papers but they definitely help hammer the info in your head which makes for easier tests!
Laura really knows her history!! She is very opinionated and if you don't agree with her she will bash you! You need to support however you feel, with detailed evidence or she WILL debate you and she WILL win. Hard grader. Take caution if you get in her section!
extremely hard testing, unbelievable amounts of homework. very confrontational and opinionated. does not like it if your opinion varies from hers
She is a very good professor. The class isn't easy, but she makes it interesting.
DO NOT take this class!! You will regret it!! She gives a ton of writing assignments and is very unclear in what she wants. You need to be a mind reader and a History expert to get a good grade in this class. By the way, I am a straight A/B student and had to drop because she was giving me awful grades for A work.
She's "alright." To warn you... there is A LOT of reading and writing assignments (as in every week), so if you are one to not do your work... take someone else. I took this class online and did well, as long as you do the work you will do fine :)
This teacher is wonderful. There are a lot of assignments but this is a college class. If you ask for help she will help you. I thought this class was very fun and interesting.
Laura is a hard but fair teacher, I love history especially this era, this was a huge amount of writing I really mean a lot, I didn't understand a lot of her notes she writes as though you should be a mind reader. but she was encoraging at times. She's a mixed bag take AT Your own risk.
Don't let her name fool you. Her class is far from dull but be prepared for a lot of reading! She is really big on critical thinking, if history is your thing then take her, if you're looking for a blow off class I do NOT recommend her at all. Good lectures but doesn't do so often. Quizzes on nearly all chapter and you have to take your own notes.
extrmly fair and outgoing she was a enjoyable teacher. take her she akes learning fun
I recieve good grades on my papers, and I did poorly on my quizzes. This class involves A LOT of reading, which was hard for me to keep up with. I wish she had connected the quiz study guides with the exam study guides..which would have helped out a lot during exam week. I like her as a person, but not her teaching style. Notes were very scattered
Not an easy class, lots of work, totally worth taking if you want to feel like you actually improved and grown because of a class. Prepares you for bigger things.
Professor Dull is an excellent instructor,my favorite I have had at any school. Her course can be pretty tough, as there is a lot of work involved. However, it all pays off in the end. I have changed so much after taking her two courses, I look at history so differently now. Lots of class participation and group activities, but these are helpful.
Used the book a LOT. You have to be game to do a lot of reading and note taking, but if you are it's an interesting class. If you like history she's great. She's good at turning things into a story you can understand, & I like her style of drawing things on the board that help her story. It was like watching Reading Rainbow as a kid, haha
felt more like a computer course. Focused on many other things besides just history. took the online course and spent more time setting up other sites to do the work than focusing on the subject. wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Didnt learn a whole lot.
She was an okay professor. Sometimes she was not very clear on what she specifically wanted for an assignment. She was nice and not a tough grader. There is only one testexam at the middle of the semester and it was pretty easy. The class was pretty easy though but it is quite a bit of note taking assignments.
Took her online History 111 course. Would not recommend it to anyone. She wasn't helpful at all. You have to make these accounts for websites to post stuff on. The assignments aren't difficult but she does a terrible job describing them. Would not recommend this course to anybody.
Absolutely, the worst teacher I have had a Delta. She has 100 different things going on at once and some of the assignments are so pointless, such as a Pinterest and tiki tok account. I stayed in the class the whole semester and honestly haven't learned a thing. The class is a joke!!
History used to be my favorite subject until this class. She gives you a million assignments at once and barley explains them to you. When she explains things she gives you too many details that just overwhelm you. I don't recommend her at all. She is also is very passionate about what she teaches.
Laura is an easygoing professor who assigns topical homework and uses alternative sources just as much as the textbook. The main downfall is the lack of traditional assignments such as papers, replaced with obscure tasks that can be hard to keep track of, such as Tiki-Toki timelines and Pinterest pins, both of which require creation of accounts.
Mrs. Dull is a great teacher, if you want to learn about the history of Early Civilization she is your lady. Involves a LOT of homework. Reading and assignments alike HOWEVER I hold a full time job and am a full time student and as long as you nail the 400 pt final project you're golden. I missed a lot of the small hw along the way &ended wa B-.
This professor helped to spark my desire to continue my education. Her passion for the subject matter and desire to help her students learn and understand is extraordinary. Her class is not easy, so if you are looking for an easy grade, look elsewhere. If you actually want to learn and grow as a student, she's a must take professor.
This class was amazing. I am not a huge fan of history, but I loved this class. It was basically just read or watch Crash Course videos then answer questions/do research. It's really straightforward but super interesting. She included some sections about media literacy too. There is a final and mid-term paper that are pretty easy!
Dr. Dull's assignments were difficult to understand not history based. The assignments had nothing to do with actual history content and focused more on how you completed the assignment. I did not learn a single thing from this course. When I tried to ask for help with the assignments, I found that her reasoning was often unclear.
She's not terrible. She is always available to answer questions and give feedback. But, you are always stuck teaching the material to yourself. You just read the materials she gives you and writes an essay on it. definitely not the easiest grader either.
This professor is amazing, she is really compassionate and cares mostly about communication. No late papers are accepted but she gives a full week with the material before that. Such a straight forward class, you know up front what is expected of you, nothing hidden. I will absolutely take her again if possible, she made history fun!
Dr. Dull was a great teacher overall. She tried to find out what the students were interested in and cater the assignments to that. The class was very reading & homework heavy but you had a full week for each assignment so it was doable. If you're looking for an easy class, try something else, but if you love history, I recommend her & this class.
I greatly enjoyed the teaching style of the History 112 Later Western Civilization online class. You are graded based on a paper / answering questions each week. There are no tests, quizzes, or exams in this course. Again, this class was online, so it may be different for in person.
Dr. Dull was my favorite professor at Delta. She ran her class very smoothly. There were no tests or exams, just weekend assignments and a final assignment. She runs the class based off of what everyone wants to learn. I have never been a fan of history prior to this class, but I will for sure take HIS112 now with her so I can have her again!
I, personally, had a great time with this class. The class was very reading and writing intensive, but there were no exams/quizzes. Lessons are taught from a mix of videos, documents, and other sources from the Internet. We were given 1 assignment weekly, each taking a few hours to complete. Critical thinking is a major part of this course.
She was very much willing to work on assignments if they didn't meet the criteria for grading.
Her class was certainly very interesting. Discussions were also good, and the small class size I had made it easier to get personal attention if you had questions or needed help, HOWEVER, Dr. Dull is a very strict professor. She cares a lot about what she teaches. If you are not prepared to cultivate perfection on your work, look elsewhere.
She gives incredibly confusing directions. On multiple occasions, she marked papers down with very little explanations as to why.
This class was not my favorite there are long YouTube videos that are her lectures that are a little hard to listen to but can be done. I enjoyed the crash course videos. We had discussion posts and lots of projects there weren't any test she gave examples and grading rubrics for our large projects. She had a FREE online textbook.
Super easy + straightforward class. Consistently show up to class + take your notes and you'll have an A. No exams or memorization to worry about. Lectures are open discussion + participation is encourage, not required. Approaches history from a variety of different perspectives; I learned a lot I'd never heard before. Great experience, recommend!
Professor Dull was one of the worst professors I have ever had in college. She is very difficult on grading and picking apart students papers. She takes away points even if you answer the questions correctly. A class I would not recommend to first year students. I was very disappointed in the Professor and the way the class was set up.
Prof. Dull truly has a passion for what she teaches. Her lectures are thorough, and she gives great feedback on assignments. Textbook reading is quite heavy, but she provides additional sources as well. She is very understanding and truly cares about her students! I would definitely recommend courses with her!
LOVE. Dr. Dull was so interactive with her students. She would send out weekly videos explaining the tasks we'll be completing that week. The next week, she would send out feedback and provide extra credit quizzes. Super interactive material and assignments that apply knowledge. No quizzes or tests. Super sweet teacher who cares about her students!
While not the most engaging lectures, this class can still be manageable with the free online textbook and Crash Course videos. Assignments are straightforward, but the professor's expectations can be unclear at times. Unstuckstudy was a useful study tool for me alongside the provided resources.
The class was interesting, but also kinda boring at times. There was a lot of reading at the beginning of the semester, and then it gradually went to lectures. Overall, it's easy to pass, just make sure you pay attention to her requirements for the notebook, and you'll do fine.
A very good teacher, gives you the info clearly, asks questions in the class, and the class is almost entirely homework based. Most of your grade is made up of a bi-weekly notebook check, so as long as you stay on top of that you are given a very easy A.
Dr. Dull is a good professor once you get to know her. Expectations were unclear at first but became clearer. Assignments are reading-heavy but manageable. She's passionate about your writing, enforces a 3-mistake limit per paper (with corrections allowed), and likes in-depth discussion posts but doesn't require replies to other students.
