Not very helpful or nice.
very dour, sarcastic, condescending to students

Tough, but a really good professor, Very helpful if you take the time to ask questions and talk to her!!
Very unhelpful, writes hard tests and gives very boring lectures (the course material sucks though, so thats not entirely her fault). She is often times condescending.
She gives you far too much work. This subject is interesting to know, but she assigns work, as if you have no other classes but hers. If you take her class, say goodbye to your social life, because you'll eat, sleep, and breathe microbiology. Just tell your girlfriend or boyfriend, "Not tonight, baby, I gotta study!" Beware!!!
You may ask me is she tough? And I say, "Yes", but then again, so is my shoe. make sure you have very few subjects to take when taking her course, because you won't have time for anything else. enter at your own risk.
Her class was interesting and fun. She's such a nice professor! She even gave out cookie cakes to groups that received successful experimental results!
I don't really understand why nursing students expect a free pass through this class. We need to understand disease from the root up. She is very clear about what she wants done and how to best go about working on projects. I liked her both as a lecturer and as a professional. I would take another of her classes without hesitation.
I don't mind the amount of work she gives. What bothers me is her horrible lecture skills. She talks way too fast and her words are very unorganized; even the TA said that it is unacceptable. She is not very friendly either. Be prepared to teach yourself from the textbook.
Is she tough? Absolutely! But she is fair. Her lectures are not engaging but she is funny once in a while. I would recommend getting a recorder for her class and listening to the lectures. She seems unapproachable but if you ask for help she will help you.
Class isn't mandatory but is worth EC! Test's are online but have to go to a testing room (EC questions on them!). Weekly quizzes are online and so are the answers. Lab is A LOT of work as well is the over all class. You will need to put in a lot of effort to get an A. The final is all case studies and impossible so do well on everything else.
The class is a lot of work so be prepared! Duwell isn't a great professor but all you have to do is study the highlighted words on her powerpoints. She never had any of the lab keys prepared. Talked to other students who had her as a prof at the same time as us and said she wasn't prepared for them either. Makes me think where her priorities where.
She is honestly a very boring lecturer, but the material isnt the easiest thing to teach. Took this class with no bio pre req, a lot of work man. if you don't do your notes properly ( literally just the power points) theres a good chance youll fail. Otherwise, she kinda makes sure everyone passes. I got an A, but i spent alot of time. dont buy text
She's honestly the worst professor I've ever come across. Boring and monotone in lectures and reiterates the textbook verbatim. After so many years of terrible reviews, I'm shocked she's still qualified to even teach. You only get 1 attempt for the online quizzes and they're timed, which isn't fair. She has no empathy and is rude to students.
Dr. Duwel's lectures are all very straightforward and informative. Lectures are long, but she's good at explaining difficult topics. Optional reviews are long, but definitely worth it. Extra credit on all tests and practicals and on some quizzes. The homework will help immensely when it comes to the test. Cares about her students.
I don't understand all of the negative reviews. She is incredibly knowledgeable and getting a good grade is very attainable if you actually try. Doing your homework is crucial because it forces you to study in advance. The final grade is made up of many different parts so if you fail one you can still do well overall.
Posts quizzes late, specifically one time by 36 hours. I emailed her to alert her of the missing quiz and received no response yet alone apology for the inconvenience. Too much busy work and lack of directions. Adamant about phones in class, will call you out! Poor communication, ex: let kids wait for open lab hours w missing TA despite schedule.
Her class is time consuming, but in my opinion it's set up so its nearly impossible to not end with an A if you do the work. If you do everything on time, go to class, and study you'll be fine. She gives extra credit for coming to class, on every exam, and on every weekly quiz. I would take her class again! DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!
The only good thing I could say about her class was the extra credit, which will be something you want to make sure you partake in. Her lectures are boring and monotone, she is very condescending to students, and the amount of information given in lecture is near to impossible to know in the given time frame, especially for the final.
A rough class, but your grade is made up by lots of little things so if you mess up on one test you can still get a decent grade. Extra credit on each test, most quizzes and the lab practical. Also extra credit for going to lecture, but attendance in lab is mandatory. If you put the work in youll get a good grade its not that horrible.
Laura Duwel is extremely condescending towards students. She is not afraid to call kids out in lecture. Will criticize students when they answer a question wrong.
Great TAs. Lots of material but she designs the course so there's room to bomb a section and still get a good grade. Extra credit on basically everything + review sessions for all tests. Study the lecture quizzes for the tests. Her lectures can be boring but helpful especially for concepts that are harder to understand. Tip: QUIZLET is your bff.
It's honestly not hard at all to get an A in this class because the plenty small and doable assignments add up and can cover if you bomb(like i did) the big tests. Don't buy the book from official website but go online and buy a older edition ebook for like $10 and it helps so much to just use as a clarifier as often she does go too fast.
Good luck. She literally does not care about her students. Shes assigned two reading quizzes (which do nothing but destroy your grade because theyre ridiculously long and timed) as well as a homework assignment due DURING FINALS. No time to study for other classes. All about hers apparently. One of the hardest classes Ive ever taken.
She requires a lot more work outside of class than needed which can get difficult to manage unless this course is the only course you are taking. The weekly lecture quizzes are just as hard as the actual exams. The only easy part of her class is homework but thats like 10% of your grade. And we still get assignments due on finals week.
A lot of work is assigned but if you just get the work done, you can not fail the class. I liked the teacher though and thought she had interesting lectures.
hate her. she does not care about students. don't show up on office hours, don't reply students' email.
This class is ridiculous! There are weekly homeworks that take forever, quizes 21 sometimes 22 question in only 25 mins. Weekly discussion boards that are useless and take so much time. Her lectures are extremely dry. And in them she talks like you're a bio grad student. DO NOT take this class with another science class! You won't have a life!
This class is a complete waste of time with an absurd amount of work. Professor Duwel must think her class is the only one in existence. This class had 2 quizzes a week, 2 lengthy hw questions a week, a pointless discussion board due every week, and 4 labs a week along with exams. She is dry and boring and assigns way to much work.
avoid this class at all costs. for your own sanity sake.
She literally thinks she is the only professor to exist and gives SO much work. For example, one week we had 2 sets of hw questions we had to answer, 4 bio labs, 2 bio lecture quizzes, and a discussion board. Her exams are so difficult with not enough time to answer most of the questions. I'm taking anatomy right now too & I can't even study for it
Does not care about students and belittles them. Is disrespectful and does not respond to questions on emails. Makes changes to assignments on the syllabus (adding assignments and getting rid of assignments) without updating students or updating syllabus. Posts assignments late without giving an extension. Acts like this is the only class you have.
THIS CLASS IS A JOKE HAHA If I had a choice, I would NEVER take this class. The TAs are not helpful and their grading is so ANNOYING! I would spend hours on labs and get under 70s on them. This class is hard and challenging and gives SO MUCH WORK that it is not worth it. If I could go back in time, I would change my major so I don't have to take it
Not understanding to her student's workload. I understand having a work-intensive course, but the work we receive is way too much for a freshman with other science courses during a pandemic. haven't been able to study for any class because I'm solely doing her work. I'm not even studying for her class because I have to finish the work first!bad TAs
I had Dr. Duwel online & I wouldnt recommend her to anyone. Despite the material being fairly easy to learn, she wasnt able to lecture well & her exams were extremely hard. No matter how much I watched her lectures, read the book, or studied, I never got grades that reflected my effort. She also never replied to any of my emails.
This is a class that is much clearer if you only read the textbook, lectures can often be confusing, and she will rush through material. She does have a lot to cover, and this sequence of Biology is dense. The way to succeed has been to read from the book, which is also dense, but those exams are lethal, not to mention quite poorly phrased.
Talks a mile a minute and is impossible to follow. She posts assignments late and her Blackboard page is not very well organized. Would not recommend
Making this course online makes the course 10x harder. Pain in the bottom to deal with her class. Her lectures are all over the place its impossible to get A.
You have to be reading the material in the textbook to have any hope of passing. Her tests do not reflect what it on her slides or the textbooks so you will most likely fail, so get ready for that. She was so unorganized and extremely hard to follow. Average test grade was70% or lower. If I could give her a lower rating I would. DO NOT TAKE HER
Dr. Duwel didnt show much enthusiasm for the class. She would post assignments late and there would always be errors in the questions. She was good about giving points back, though. She didnt add much to the lectures and it got to the point I stopped listening to them. She taught straight from the textbook, so I self-taught myself and did fine.
I took this fall 2020, super homework heavy buts its all in the lectures. I personally loved it even tho it was asynchronous. She was super understanding. test and quiz heavy for sure, but if you're interested in it you won't have an issue. I wish i could take this class again in an actual lab
Do not take this class unless its the only class you are taking. This professor assigns 4 pages worth of questions as a homework assignment twice a week, along with 4 lectures that consist of listening for about 4 hours, plus two quizzes a week. The exams are NOTHING like the quizzes, lectures, or what we are learning. The exams make no sense.
Dr. Duwel is extremely kind and accommodating. The class itself is going to be a lot of work regardless of the professor, but if you do your homework well and study what is on there you will be fine. She has been nothing but understanding and helpful, so I'm not sure why her reviews are so negative. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!!!
Easily the most demanding and time consuming class I have ever taken. About 3-4 hrs of watching a lecture on your own time due by Wednesday BUT she will not post them until Tuesday, so essentially 4 hrs of lecture in 24 hrs. 4-5 Pages of homework a week. Difficult exams are nothing like the lectures. Warning: your life will be bio 24/7 good luck!
Biweekly exams weeks 1- 5 and then weekly exams weeks 6-10. She doesn't upload work for the week until Tuesday when its due Wednesday. No time to study bc by the time you have time to, things are already due. Labs are harshly graded and you lose points for questions they didn't even ask. Failed to mention 75% of this class is asynchronous
Microbio is a hard course regardless of the professor. Duwel really tries to make it more manageable with her lectures being specific, assignments with questions she will ask on exams, and very specific office hours. Go to office hours and she will tell you exactly what to study fo the exam. The TAs for lab are not great, but that's not her fault.
Dr. Duwel is truly one of the nicest Professors I have ever had. She is very caring and if you go to office hours and make an effort, she ensures that you will succeed in her class. TAs are very kind and helpful if you make yourself available and ASK for the help that you need! This class is hard but if you make a true effort you will be fine!!
Dr. Duwel is passionate about biology and has a lot of in-depth knowledge but she is not the best teacher. Lectures are confusing, jumping back and forth between concepts. Her quizzes involve material that, while related to the topic, has never been covered in class but she expects you to know it anyway. Sends out emails late, answers emails never.
I personally did not like professor Duwel, her lectures were very confusing and hard to follow. She wanted us to know information that was never discussed in class. She was also very last minute when it came to posting material. Overall if you have the choice to take her, DONT.
If I could give this professor a 0 for rating I would. I would very much rather quit college all together than have to take her again.
Her lectures are confusing and consists of her reading off the lecture. shes also very rude when it comes to labs. overall I would not recommend unless you hate bio and wish to continue hating bio
Reads off the slides... I would say that it wasn't helpful to go into class even though it was mandatory. She is really intelligent but just not engaging. The in class "learning activities" were just here lecturing the same thing that was in the posted lectures. Not my favorite class, but not the worst teacher ever just not the best.
She goes around to check that everyone is on task like a kindergarten teacher, posts material as late as she possibly can, doesn't respond to emails, is horrible at formatting questions, gave us flipped classroom so you have to watch lectures on your own, WHILE making lecture still mandatory to attend. The total experience is just awful
She does not like freshman. None of my fellow students have had good experiences with her one on one. Since it's the first year back after COVID, she recycled her zoom class meetings from last year to use as video lectures this year. We would have 3 hour-long lectures to watch and take notes from in addition to attending in person lectures. Not fun
She reposted the same video lectures from last years zoom calls that are 45 mins to an hour long. She is very vague with information and its hard to score high on her exams. If you can take anyone else, TRY HARD
Boring lecturer (coming from someone passionate about bio). Recorded lectures were also hard to follow, badly organized. I generally just followed the slides without the actual lecture. Class itself was not too difficult, though.
Her powerpoints are from Pearson for lectures, she does not make them and she reads them almost word for word. Clear explanations are rare. She gives points but no connection. She tells you visuals are important but doesn't give any. You not only have to go to scheduled lectures, but you have 2+ hours of video lectures outside of class.
She really explains things when you ask her. If you aren't good with lectures you won't like her teaching style. Everyone complains about her but she is really not a bad prof, if you list during class she goes over EVERYTHING that will be on the test. All you need to do is just listen to her in class and take good notes.
Professor Duwel should obviously not be a professor. Her inability to teach and her rude attitude left me hating biology.
If you're a CCI major being forced to take this class for your science requirement good luck. The work isn't hard but you definitely have better things to do than memorize info useless to your major. Duwel frequently puts trick questions on tests and is somehow still shocked that test grades dropped heavily once she started teaching. Poor lecturer.
absolutely do not recommend her I did not learn a single thing in this class when she was teaching it, she just made us do in class questions and it was extremely unhelpful
Prof Duwel is definitely challenging but fair. In her defense, the material she teaches in the second half of Bio 131 is harder to understand than the first half, which may be why some students did not do well and dislike her for that. She explicitly states in classes what concepts will be on the exam and goes through practice problems for them.
Dr. Duwel is honestly a very sweet professor that is incredibly knowledgeable about the field. I'd recommend visiting her during office hours to discuss the course or just talk in general. A lot of the teaching for this course is done through video lectures, then class is like a recitation.
Would not recommend. Barely learned anything from her and it was much harder to pay attention because her class is boring. She is snippy and rude at times. Would not take again if I have a choice.
I always hear mixed reviews about Dr. Duwel, but personally, I liked her for an upper-level biology class. Micro is a hard class, there's no way around it, so naturally, the work will be hard. Class was a mix of pre-recorded lectures and group work. Duwel was available after class for questions and answered them thoroughly.
You'll be responsible for watching lectures on your own time. Class time will be spent doing homework. There are optional reviews for previous weeks, which are pointless since the work is past due. Homework is done in groups, and there is a lot of it. There are many tests and quizzes too. Make sure you're comfortable with teaching yourself.
Review sessions are boring and monotone, but try to go because she uses a lot of the same exact things said in lecture on exams even if not said in the lecture videos. She is hardly accessible outside of class.
What can I say the greatest course. Probably one of the most time consuming course. Techniques in molecular bio course does not focus on techniques but on a ton of background info and there is a ton of writing, quizzes and a final lol. It is only 3 credits, recitations are not even that useful.
I kind of enjoyed taking BIO 219 with Dr. Duwel. As the quarter went on, I felt a lot more comfortable with her teaching style and the material she would teach us in recitation. She would answer any questions pretty well and thoroughly. Definitely make sure to really know all of the material in the slides, and you should be fine.
worst prof at drexel. acts like students are only taking her class. LONG hw (weekly) & weekly quizzes. lockdown browser exams. weekly exams when learning abt diseases. rude and condescending. doesn't teach in class. posts b/w 2-5 zoom lectures weekly (abt 1hr/each) and expects us to watch them before class when she posts them on sunday night..
Duwel does a good job of teaching micro so that it is applicable to real life. She posts about 2-3 lecture vids to watch outside of class (1-1.5 hrs each), homeworks, and weekly tests/quizzes. It's a lot but usually what is on the hw is on the exams. She answers emails and is more caring compared to treatment in other classes. Expect a lot of work
Dr. Duwel comes off as unapproachable but she truly is so sweet and funny. Her class is difficult, but she loves the material and wants you to do well. There is A LOT of work for this class but it is manageable and most is group work. Lab TA Ashley and Kara are THE BEST. This class was interesting and lab is fun. Sit in the front she'll talk to u:)
You can tell Duwel really loves micro more than her other classes. She is fun, easy to talk to, and wants to see you succeed. Micro as a subject is hard so the class is very time-demanding, but Duwel makes the exams, quizzes and tests very accurate to what is said/given in lecture content. If you didn't like her before, you change your mind easily.
She is the worst. If you want to learn all online go ahead and take the class. You literally have to sit and watch hours of her covid lectures. At least that class got lectured. The format of having to watch her lecture other people is ridiculous. Don't waste your time.
Dr. Duwel clearly knows a lot about the subjects that she lectures on, but sadly is not a good lecturer. She also does not respond to emails, which is very difficult when you are struggling. The class is a lot of work; expect to do homework for hours during the week. Lectures are not very informative at all either.
Dr. Duwel was by far the worst biology professor I have had in my life. She did not explain the course material well, never responded to emails, and made studying biology more of a chore than a good learning experience.
I truly don't understand the choice to change professors in the middle of the term, but the transition from Togna to Duwel was definitely something many students felt. By the second half of the term, the lectures had become more confusing and Duwel did not explain or try to go more into depth with the slideshows.
Do your work, you will pass. She reads off the presentations. Her active learning assignments are stressful. I would not recommend this professor. You can tell she did not choose teaching as a primary career. She does care about her students, and knows a lot, but cannot teach at a lower level for students to be able to understand. I don't recommend
Show up, do your work, you will pass. She posts the week the assignments are due, not the date, be warned! The lectures are not interesting, but the content is important. It's only one hour a week, suck it up and go to class. She doesn't particularly teach, she reads off the slides. She's okay.
Teaching style is not great. Reads off the slides during lectures. Expects you to know stuff when it hasn't been taught yet. Active learning was stressful, she would walk around and make sure you are paying attention. Often was late to lectures and would go over the class time. Exams were hard as well. I did not like this professor.
Really upset about the transition from Togna to Duwel in the middle of the term. Everyone felt the difference. During lecture, Duwel just reads off the slides and really doesn't do a good job at expanding on topics. Active learning is really stressful, the activity takes forever and she walks around and scolds you if you are like talking to anyone
Way too much work for a 3 credit class. Assignments sometimes felt useless and just like busy work.
very difficult, not the best at teaching
If you show up to class and do your work on time you'll be fine. She's really tough but she's the curriculum director so what do you expect. Very very knowledge and has great info in the lectures, there's just a lot of info she expects you to know come test time. Exams are dumb hard but if you study off the slides/recommended text you'll be fine
She is tough in lecture but better in the lab setting. She has about two lectures the whole year than the rest of classes are quizes or case studies. About 5 exams in the term, one every other weekend. Expects you to watch lecture videos online.
As long as you do the work you are fine. She is really nice and doesn't want her students to fail. It is a lot of material to learn and is really work heavy however, most of it is busy work and they help set up the exams. Her lectures are a little boring. She adds extra credit questions to a lot of her work to boost up your grade.
The course has a lot of work and biweekly testing, but as long as you stay on top of deadlines you should be fine. She is not the best at lecture, but she is very sweet and wants her students to do well. Her homework assignments seem like busy work, but they do help with the exams. Make sure to your choose your lab group wisely.
Tough Grader and lots of work, but the work is to force us to learn the material and get it stuck in our heads to help us for tests. Lots of group assignments in lab.
I would give her a zero except you literally can't. Hard grader, assigns a ton of work and we had 5 exams in this course over the span of 10 weeks. You can't ever catch a break with this class because you always have exams, quizzes, and work. She doesn't even lecture in person and expects you to watch all her lectures online during your own time.
honestly not too bad of a prof. its a ton of work but not impossible. u can only do well in this class if u have a good lab group since everything is pretty much group work. exams were pretty fair, as long as u do the study guides + tables and review them, u should be good. also had her as lab instructor which was pretty bad tbh.
Yeah on top of terrible lectures 3 days a week watch more lectures that can span more than 2 hours like why do these people still teach just retire such a sad excuse for a class
Duwel did only one thing during lecture- read off the slides. She skipped entire slides and missed entire chunks of information. She also decided the Bio 131 class would be better off learning an additional chapter instead of reviewing for the final. She does not seem to know how much content is found in micro biology.
None of my professors this quarter have infuriated me as much as this one. Her lectures are her just reading directly off of the slides, and her slides contain so much extra information that it's hard to learn what's actually important. A lot of it feels like a waste of time. The course has become significantly harder since she took over.
Overall, she is insane. She reads off the slides and posts the same lectures online from quarantine that are the exact same thing and continues to read off the slides. Each video is insanely long and you can get bored very easily. Also, she made the exam into two parts which is absolutely doing a lot since we have other finals to worry about.
She is very wordy and she essentially just talks at you, not to you. I did not learn anything about biology from her class. In fact, I walked away knowing less about the subjects. I had never been more confused in my life.
Beware!! Dr. Duwel is not the best teacher so you're going to have to put in extra work. Be prepared to teach yourself the material as she does a horrible job explaining(in great depth) the topics.
Avoid taking her at all costs. Terrible teacher who makes learning impossible because nobody wants to watch her ridiculous lectures for 3+ hours which aren't helpful anyways. Tests are pretty difficult, why even give an exam the week of finals lol. Bring back Togna, Duwel shouldn't be a teacher.
Professor Duwel is so passionate and a good lecturer. If you are interested in learning about diseases you will excel in this class. I really liked it and learned a lot!
Don't understand all the complaints. This woman is the Assistant head of the Bio Dept and still offers help sessions, DETAILED powerpoints that tell you EVERYTHING you need to know, and she will tell you the EXACT EXAM QUESTIONS that she uses in class. She is very kind if you are conscientious, but she doesn't accept BS from anyone. LOVED HER!
she is the worst teacher ever. good luck kid praying for you
Do not listen to the ratings, she's a nice teacher and she wants you to succeed. The problem with her class was how disorganized everything felt. Like you have all the tools in front of you to pass, but it's all jumbled up. Her lectures are fine and she is a nice person to be around, but you'll prob have to study and learn a bit by yourself
She is a difficult teacher, but I did learn a lot from her. The one thing I would say is that the people in your group can change how the class will be because in lab everything is done as a group and so is class. Her test can be difficult, but you just need to study really hard and do all of the extra credit assignments in the beginning.
The only challenge with this professor is time management. There are exams every two weeks and it was definitely one of the most time consuming classes I've had so far this year. The most important things to kee track of to succeed in this course are to study ahead, memorize quickly, work with your lab group and go to lectures.
she will make your life so incredibly difficult for no reason. very unaccommodating and doesnt answer emails at all. theres a lot of group work, so be ready for that. her slides or over a decade old and dont even include a lot the stuff she wants us to know for her tests, so be ready to self study almost everything
Workload in this class is almost insufferable. Professor is absolutely no help. Lectures consist of reading slides that are very old. Combination of lab and lecture work is almost impossible to keep track of. Exams are every two weeks and require studying many ideas that are not included on the slides, so be ready to teach yourself the course.
Reads off of slides like it's not even funny. #don'ttakeher You are cooked if you get her negl
all i can say is good luck. hours of lectures each week. her lecture slides are filled with words and her study guides are just her lectures copied and pasted, essentially. expect to have to know everything even when the exam doesn't test you on all the topics
If you want to take her, don't. If you value your mental health, drop out. She is so mean it's not even funny. I was gonna change the rating cuz I thought she was nice but oml. I lit almost passed away after each week of attending her boring classes n TA's of hers are annoying too. All over your business like girl it's literally not that deep.
She deserves a 0/5, Professor Duwel genuinely cannot teach. She is knowledgeable but next to impossible to follow along with. She uploads multiple 45-minute plus videos a week on top of lectures that are torturous to get through. She cannot clearly explain anything, reads off very old slides, and makes you feel dumb if you don't understand.
The lectures were very unclear. If you have this professor you're going to have to teach yourself.
It's ridiculous how we even have two different professors for each five weeks for biology, but the switch from Professor Togna to Duwel is very present when you take this class. Pointlessly long lectures, so much forced group work, never elaborates in her own way; at this point just watch the videos on Pearson or Crash Course. She's no help.
Professor Duwel's class is challenging, but engaging if you put in the effort. The workload is heavy, with frequent exams and group assignments. However, unstuck study and other study tools can help you stay on top of the material. Overall, it's a rewarding class if you're willing to put in the work.
Brutal....
I think most of the people who dislike her are first-year students who have not grasped how college workload is different than high school. Her lectures are very informative, her homework is extra credit. The homework questions are very similar to the exam, making studying easy. She is hard to contact via email, but the biology TAs are amazing.
Reads off slides, does not properly orient students for exams, and exam questions are not within reason.
Duwel is probably the worst professor at the acclaimed Drexel University. Avoid her at all costs. Dr's Togna and Smith are astronomically better than she is. I'm baffled at how she even got hired in the first place. She is monotone, reads directly off slides, skips slides quickly, had horrible exams. Stay away from her and pray she is fired soon.
If I could give her a zero I would. The worst professor I have ever had. She reads off slides and expects everyone to understand and already know the material. It's so frustrating, she changes the dates for exams all the time and assigns work whenever she wants without saying anything. You have to figure everything out yourself, she's no help
When first starting the work seems impossible but it's better with the grading system like that. Having so many exams actually helped the grade because you could fail an exam yet still pass. The labs were fun and my TA Ashley was the absolute best! Watch the review videos as most of the extra credit questions came from them.
I was very nervous to have her after 131 but this class was not too difficult at all. Her lectures are great, and the recitations/homeworks really helped with learning. There is so many opportunities for extra credit, and all of the quizzes/exams were pretty fair. Ultimately you also learn a lot
She just reads off of the slides and if you ask her a question, she asks like it's the biggest burden of her life. Oh and don't even try to access her via email she will NOT reply. She also accused like half the class of cheating on the first exam and then got so mad when the average was a 30%.
I think she gets a little more hate than she deserves. The class is hard, but she gives a lot of extra credit and her review videos lay out how the exams are gonna be, which is why I got an A on every exam she gave. she is a rough grader on homework and she gives a ton of work, and she can be ruthless. Don't take unless you're ready to study hard
Dr. Duwel has to be one of the worst professors I have taken at Drexel so far. Her classes are very unorganized, so be prepared to have no idea what's going on. She doesn't explain what will be on exams, her slides aren't super helpful bc a lot of the time in lecture she just rambles about stuff and says "this won't be on the exam." LIKE WHAT WILL?
