she is not hard , but her tests are hard , she calculate your grades automatically and not very helpful , but her class is good .
She's a EASY teacher and I wish she did ECon 2. However, she can get a bit boring.
The tests are a little tough, but she gives you easy homework assignments and open note pop quizzes which really helps your grade in the end.
Very nice, friendly - VERY easy - just do the simple word...
she doesn't teach good!
She is way nice!!! Honestly as long as you study and attend class...you're awesome. Her tests are a little hard but she gives you the answers to the quizes BEFORE you turn it in!! Great teacher...highly recommended!!
Very nice lady. Unfortunately, she does not teach much in the class. You have to study on your own most of the time. But it is easy to get an A becoz she provides good test review before every test. Not recommended though as you may struggle in ECON 2.
SO NICE, the lady will bend over backwards to make sure you did your work just to make sure you get that A. I would most definately take her again. In fact, I am waiting for her to teach ECON 2 so I can take it with her.
She is an Angel! She is so nice! My mom and I took her class and love her so much! she is one of the greatest lady in the universe!
she's so nice! yea pretty much everything is easy except for her tests.
she's very helpful and makes an effort to make sure everyone understands what's going on. the test are tricky and difficult, but if you study you can get a B. if you're lucky =]
really easy teacher, just take her class, and get out of class early too~final just one section, not the whole lecture during the semester, just easy.
toooo easy...so easy i do not admire her...with the extra credit and stuff..open book quizzes, gives yuo full credit even for a wrong answer
Makes sure everyone understands, and is impressive as a teacher. She teaches well and is not too overwelming. Would deffinitly reccomend taking any courses with her. She is very helpful and clear on what information is important.
one of the most boring classes i have ever taken, she is way too easy to be interesting, dumbs down the material so much you end up not learning anything, open book quizzes and lots of homework assgnmts make it easy to get an A, havent learned much yet in her class and dont expect much from it
Very nice, and helpful. I recomend you take this class!!
She's the best econ teacher I've taken so far. Extremely nice and helpful. If you take good notes, you won't have to read the book. Homework was give away points, and she gave a lot of extra credit. As long as you do all the work, an A is acheivable.
great teacher. so so so many extra credits. easy classes, plus she's so nice. :)
Great person. I fall asleep in her class a lot but she is still a good teacher and is very nice.
she is very good teacher...she always give good points in the home-work...and she gives us the study list also...
She rocks !! Really recommend her as a Econ teacher. She will work with you if you have any problems at all.
very good teacher, easy and helpful, wants everyone to do well. If you have to take econ classes definately take it with her
She is a great teacher. Even though she is super busy, she always responses to emails immediately and always helps her students and explains very well. Some extra credits and gives us study guides for tests verbally. If you want to choose a harder class, don't take her. You really can learn many things in a relaxing atmosphere.
if you do the homework (100pts) & show up for the classes for the extra credit quizzes (20pts) & atleast get 60s on the test you will pass with a C, for the homework & quizzes she just gives you the full points she doesnt check them
While many people assume she is easy, and take her for that reason, many overlook that she genuinely cares and makes sure that everyone understands the things she teaches. She is always cheerful and never has on an unpleasant face. It is SO easy to find yourself liking her teaching and class.
She is extremely boring, although she does try to get students interested in what she is talking about. Can pass the class woth a C if you do all the homework that she does not grade and attend class for the quizes you will do fine. If you study you can get an easy A!
One of the best teachers I have ever had. I have taken a lot of economics professors in and out of IVC & she's the best. To those who thinks she is boring must not understand how hard of a subject she is teaching. I thought I didn't learn that much in her classes until I started taking the graduate level classes outside of IVC! It ALL stuck! :P
shes an awsome teacher. shes pretty clear and if you score B's on her tests you get an A in her class as long as you attend class regularly because she gives 2 pt. quizes randomly. i highly recommend her as a teacher, shes extremely nice and goes super slow knowing that econ is boring and confusing
She is the best, if you do not get A in her class, you need to quit school.
Professor flynn really does care about her students and even would stay after class to answer questions. she is very nice and is very likable. She gives out a quiz every other week to check if you attend class. Her class is not hard if you attend every lecture and hand in the homework . i recommend taking her class.
If you show up to class everyday and be prepare for a quiz that is used for class attendance, and fail all of her exam, you still end up with a B in the class.
I agree with all the positive reviews on here. Gives a reasonable amount of homework, and is crystal clear in class. Gives ten two-point extra credit quizzes in class. These exams are key to boosting your grade at the end. You will regret not coming to class for the quizzes. The book she uses is also very good.
One of the best professor's at IVC. Very clear, and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you understand the material. To top it all off, she is extremely nice and respectful.
I don't like this lady. The class starts at 11.00 and end up at 12.30, but we got out of the class very earily like 11.45. How do we learn things in about an half hour? (other 15 mins were doing quizes) We always needed to figure out questions by ourselfe after her lecture.
Do not take her for short sessions, she barely teaches half the class time. Yes she does just give credit, so easy in that way, but just rambles on and doesnt seem to care. Book is really expensive and used a lot. Says shell do review but just lets you out early unless you want to ask ?s so people pretty much leave. Don't bother because she doesnt.
Dont take her class if u are in business major, she can't teach, and she often skips some important stuff, you have to spend a lot time to read the book. waste of time,go take J.Baily's Econ, you will see the difference.
Mrs. Flynn is very nice, always willing to help or work with you. Attendance is not mandatory but if you do come, you take quizzes, which give you extra credit. She told us exactly what would be on tests & they weren't too hard. Usually got to leave 1 hour early. Test days end about 2 hours early. Great teacher & easy class if you study.
Horrible teacher. She jumps around and doesn't explain in detail. Her test questions are written in a language only she can understand. I got an A in Bailly's class by taking notes and paying attention. Don't take Flynn.
she's a very good teacher!!!i like her...just come and listen!!don't taker her coz i want to take her class!!
Professor Flynn is very nice. She only assigns homework every two weeks and it is very easy. She even stays after class to help you out with any questions. I was so close to getting an A in her class by a couple of points. She does offer extra credit and her final is not cumalative, although it is hard despite what she says.
Took her class during spring. She is definitely a great Econ teacher. She not only gives extra credit points but she takes the time on helping others if they needed help. As long as you do the work the exams should be very easy. Got an A. I learned alot from this class and I am a business major.
ECON 2 - Principles of Macroeconomics. Took this class during summer school at IVC and loved it. She is a great econ teacher with answers to every question you can ask. Extra credit quizzes and homework points for effort, not correctness. Most of the time we finished early and got out early!
Easy A if you show up to class everyday and study for the test. She gives study guides before an exam and gives out quizzes which count as extra credit, it doesn't matter if you get it wrong or right, you still get the full point for taking it.
SHE'S THE BEST PROFESSOR!! Just come and she'll give u quizzes as extra credit. she stays back after class to answer your questions and she doesnt mind it AT ALL. TAKE HER FOR ECON 1!! if not u'll regret it!!!
She's a great prof, I loved her class. I took microecon previously with M. Stuffler and she killed any interest I had in econ and prof flynn saved me :) Nice lady, homework deadlines are all very managable, quizzes and tests are taken right from her notes so make sure you go to class.
Great professor. She does her best to make sure everyone understands the material and succeeds. Gives extra credit and grades fairly. Let's you know what topics are on the test. Easy A if you give a little effort to understand the material.
good teacher. gives a lot of extra credit mostly from quizzes. her tests are hard but she tells you what will be on it, though there are somethings she does not go over and you have to look it up in the book.
Good teacher. gives out study guides showing what will be on the tests. Read the book and focus on any information relating to the study guide. Studying the notes by themselves will not be enough to get an A
This professor's teaching is solid. The lectures are easy to understand and the tests are hard but fair. She reads out a study guide for each test. Just read the topics in the textbooks that relate to the study guide topics and you will do good(notes are not enough). Attend class because there are extra credit quizzes that really help your grade!
She is a good teacher, and pretty easy as long as you pay attention, take short notes and do your homework. There is no reason you should not pass as long as you give a little effort. I took the 8 week summer class and it definitely dragged on and got boring, but I don't really like econ anyway, so I have a biased opinion.
Amazing professor! if an explanation is unclear, she will do everything she can until you understand the concept; gives a lot of extra credit.. you have to really try to get a bad grade; gives in class study guide of what's exactly on the test, easy A if you study, do the hw and show up for the quizes(answers given in class)
she is so helpful and her class is very easy. She gives you a lot of opportunity to raise your grade and to get an A in the class. There is no opportunity cost for taking her class :)
Easy class! Study just the study guide points. Dont even waist time studying all the notes, if A is ur only goal. really easy. attendance is not mandatory but gives random extra credit quizzes that will really help towards the end of class :)
Gives extra credit quizzes randomly so attendance is recommended. Homework is about effort. She goes over answer for the quizzes and homework before you turn them in. She is willing to answer any questions you have. Gives a clear study guide. Test can be misleading with words she has never used but pretty straightforward too. Good teacher!
stupid wordings on exam
Good class i guess all you need is a B average on tests to get an A in her class but even though its not hard you still have to try. eh i got a B in the class but i slept through half of it
Straight forward lectures - easy material and test questions
She's a great professor, has great notes, and always willing to help. Attendance is mandatory because there is a total of 20 extra credit points available just for showing up!!! This class is an easy B, but for the A you have to do well on tests. Her lectures aren't as engaging as other ones, however, she gets the work done!
ECON1: TAKE HER CLASS. EASY A AND VERY HELPFUL. SHE GIVES U EXTRA CREDIT EVERYDAY JUST BEING IN CLASS
Took her for both ECON 1 and 2 because she is honestly the best. She teaches everything you need to know while keeping it simple and easssy!! As an TAKE HER!!
Teaches Econ in a way that's college level and yet easily understood by all. MUST TAKE! If your looking to learn and want an easy class look no further. Highly recommended! Flynn FTW!
Really sweet teacher. She wants you to do well in the class. Gives you 20 points of ec for basically just coming to class. Gave 5 points extra credit when everyone did bad on the tests. Tests are from the book though so I'd read the summary at the end of each chapter even though she tells you not to read the book. Easy easy B little bit harder A
Listen, if you're someone who hates econ and studies on the last day, then this class is for you! really i was really scared taking this class since I hate econ so much, but with all the free points she gives from hw and quizzes and reliable notes. I got a B for the class. First time ever in a econ class. So take this class! its worth it free point
She's not a good teacher. When she lectures, it feels like she doesn't even want to be there.I didn't learn anything from her, I basically taught myself reading the book and doing the hw.She's up for questions though. The only good thing about this class, is that it's a very easy class. She gives you the answer for the quizzes, and reviews for midterms
The tests are way too hard!!
Took her Econ 1 & Econ 2 class. She is really nice and has good intentions, but her teaching methods are way outdated. Her lectures are very simple compared to the book, which was confusing and difficult to follow at times. She gives study guides for her test which is nice. She's an easy A/B but I'd rather have learned more and worked harder.
Laura Flynn is the type of teacher where she sometimes expects you to know what she's teaching when she starts lecturing. Sometimes monotone, so it's hard to stay interested. She practically gives you the answer to tests, offers ample extra credit, great and caring person! Take her if you're the type of student that puts forth effort!
Must take for both micro and macro! She's so easy! Just show up and get quiz points, do the homework and do the final writing project (one summary paragraph) lol If you don't understand what something means on the exam, how about going up and asking her!! AGAIN, MUST TAKE!!! :)
She was a great teacher. had 10 extra credit quizzes which could really help your grade. she also always gave you a study guide for your tests. I took both Micro and Macro with her and got an A and B. Super nice and easy teacher.
Take her! She is a gem! Be nice & friendly, and she will be very helpful to you. Class guidelines are easy to follow, and you know exactly what you need to do. Your grade is dependent on how much time and effort you put in (not a lot) 10 extra credit quizzes- 6 hw assignments- 1 paragraph project- 3 tests. TAKE HER!
She's a great teacher. She doesn't expect you to learn on your own; she actually answer questions if you're confused during lecture. Definitely take the chance to participate as much as you can, it'll help your grade.
I took this professor for both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. She truly loves her job and she truly loves the subject of economics. She will answer any questions you have. She will let you know EXACT what will be on the tests. Laura Flynn is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She has a great memory too. Totally take her class.
Great econ teacher. Easy B or C if you show up, take notes and skim through book. Homewors are hand written and easy. Quizzes and EC willl greatly help. Minimal time to this class.
Overall very easy class. Tons of extra credit through out semester. Very easy going and fair.
Easy A Read and do suggested HW She gives out alot of extra credit so don't forget to attend class and do them. Her exams are based of the study guide she hands out so as long as you study off it, you will be fine. All of her exams is multiple choice with few writing problems.
Shes nice and very helpful will answer your questions. Will tell you what to study for the exams and attendance is a lot of extra credit! She says you don't need the book, but her notes are too general and straight to the point to understand the topics well. if you just study the notes you wont get A on the test. Read book ask for help youll dogood
This is a review of the summer course. It's an easy A, especially for those who've taken macro in high school. You'll receive extra credit just for showing up, which is a nice grade buffer for those who need it. I did not need the textbook at all, as she was kind enough to let me take pictures of the homework problems from her copy of the textbook.
She is very helpful and knows the material very well, but her lectures are hard to follow and are NOT enough to do well on her exams. But if you read the book you'll get an A really easily. She also helps out by giving study guides that are similar to the exam. Extra credit given for showing up (raises you like 4% if you do all of it).
Gives extra credit for each class you attend. Gives a study guide on what exactly is on the test.
She's pretty boring and just goes through the material. Lots of silence while she erases the board or waits for students to copy things down. When you ask a question, she's kinda like, "AGAIN, as I said before..." Makes you feel bad for asking a question. Super nice one-on-one. Extra credit quizzes that she gives you the answers to.
Literally the easiest teacher at IVC, she may have boring lectures but let's be real people it's an hour long class... deal with it. If you just show up you get extra credit quizzes throughout the semester... she doesn't tell you when they are so just go. If you take the notes she writes on the board its an EASYYYYY A
Extra credit open note pop quizes, so attend classes. She seemed a bit annoyed when we ask questions and felt like "I just told you", kind of deal. Study guide is pretty much the test, so easy A. Just attend class, take notes, get the extra credit and study. Easy.
She's a straight forward kinda person in her lecture so I think you can survive her class
3 Exams (almost everything you need is in lecture, didn't even buy the textbook), Aplia HW (she grades for completion rather than credit), extra credit pop quizzes (free pts for attendance), her study guides before exams tell you exactly what's going to be on it--basically giving the answers away. Easy A if you can stomach the tedium of her style.
3 tests, aplia hw, one project (it's just writing a paragraph), and quizzes are extra credits for showing up (they are open note). she gives out study guides and exams are all from study guides. you don't need the textbook. just focus on lecture notes and you will get an A.
You'll have to use the textbook for hw. I personally didn't use the textbook for other purposes. Want an A? Go to every single class. Write GOOD notes of the lectures. Work on the study guide as every single topic that she mentions will be on the test. To be honest, this is an easy A class.
Professor Flynn is Awesome! She is caring, gives pop quizzes as extra credit and are open notes, gives you study guide for test/final. Only covers material that is necessary to pass the class. No need to purchase book she lets you take pics of hw assignments from her book. I was scared in taking this class and I was very happy I took it with her.
She understands that the people in her class are not taking Econ bc it is thier major.. but bc it is required for a pre-req, so she only teaches you what you NEED to know. She stresses to not make the subject more difficult by not looking too much into the theories. She also reccomends to not read some chapters in the book as they can become confus
Amazing Prof. I would take her over again. Her lectures are very clear and she is very helpful if you don't understand the material. just show up and you will understand and learn everything you need to pass.
Prof Flynn's class is pretty lenient and easy to understand. She is very clear about the expectations on tests and easy to get a good grade. However, her lecture is pretty below the level of what college students should be learning. Just introducing concepts of the topic but never get all the way into principles, which makes the class boring.
I recommend taking this course only if you have to retake the course, minimal studying every week will give you at least a passing grade. This class is not for econ majors
She gives pop quizzes for extra credit that are based on lecture notes. Even if you get it wrong, she gives you full credit for putting something. Same applies to her hw, as long as you do it, you get full credit. She'll let you turn in one hw late. Tests are kind of poorly written, but you can pass as long as you do hw and pop quizzes.
Professor Flynn's lectures did not help much on the exams nor did the textbook help. Textbook was just for homework. Exams were poorly written and some material was not covered in lecture. This resulted to my class's average on exams to be 47% or less. If you want an A, take it with someone else. I was supposed to get a D but she gave me a C
An okay professor. Problem was a bit too direct with information and explanations on graphs were a bit too broad and fast. I would recommend this teacher for those who have good understanding of economics and want an easy A to have her. If you don't understand Economics that well, at least there's a textbook rec from her.
I took her econ 2 class over the summer and got an A. Her tests are pretty easy and her lecture is very clear. She also gives extra credit points that you can easily get if u attend class. The only thing is she's not that friendly when it comes to people asking her questions.
Fairly standard economics professor. Offers a lot of extra credit for showing up to class so make sure you attend. Exams weren't too difficult. She will go over what is on them the day before. The only complaint I have is her wording of questions on exams can be confusing. Still, I would recommend taking this class
Professor Flynn is pretty easy going, I took her class for Micro Economics. The note taking style is simply board and pen for almost all the lectures. Homework is pretty minimal and there's lots of extra credit. The only thing which was difficult is the exams, she doesn't make her own questions, but instead takes them from elsewhere. Work Pass
Attend every class so you wont miss the pop quiz! I took her micro and macro and got A for both of them. Homework are based on your efforts. Usually got 100% if you do your homework and submit on time. Exam based on her notes and homework problems but pretty easy Make sure youre clear on every concept before the exam and you can do well. Loveher
took her summer microeconomics class and found it to be easily passable even if you do poorly on the tests. You can complete the hw and pass for trying. The only thing about this class are the tests. If you want at least a B, you have to really study otherwise don't worry about passing.
I love Laura and she is so nice that her lectures are easy to understand. She gives clear notes to help you understand the concepts. She also fives quizzes but easy to get full credits. If you take notes and learn the study guide you would get A easily.
I took this class a year ago, but memorizing the lecture notes were enough to get an A :)) shes also really sweet.
Easy class. Gives very clear lectures and everything she writes on the board you should write as well (it's not that much). Gives study lists, exams are definitely not designed to trick you. She straight up tells the class she wants everyone to get an A. Quizzes are extra credit so you can get a B on an exam and still have an A in class. Take her.
Before the exam Professor Flynn provides us the study guide and everything is on the study guide. She provides quizzes which is extra credit that worth 2 points per quiz. Also, for the homework, she sees effort more than the right answer. If you just do the homework and turn it in, you get full credit even though the answer is wrong.
Professor Flynn was the worst professor I have had at IVC. She is not passionate about economics whatsoever, starts 15 minutes late, and doesn't teach like a college professor. Her grading is ridiculously lenient and you get full points just for submitting assignments. Way too easy and extremely boring. Take for easy A, don't take for knowledge.
I loved her as a teacher but her class style was not my favorite. She has 10 Extra credit pop quizzes where she provides the answers (a grade boost). The thing I didnt like is that the tests are very heavily weighted in the class which was about 70% and I felt there could have been more participation assignments to help better retain the material
This class was by far the most ridiculous GE econ course anyone could ever take. She does not explain half of the things she writes on the board in the lecture. The graphs she draws are so hard to understand and she barely explains anything. She does offer extra credit, but if you don't do well on her 2 tests (you won't do well) your grade tanks.
I genuinely wasn't going to give her a super low score until I saw the final. I have her during this pandemic. I have learned nothing in the class, even though I have an A+. Probably the worst class I have taken material wise. She grades super easy and lenient on things but the final was ridiculously hard and I had the notes available.
I had her before and then during this Coronavirus pandemic. In class, she's really monotone and doesn't seem enthusiastic at all. Some of the graphs she draws on the whiteboard tend to be confusing. Her quizzes are automatic extra credit points but you have to be in class that day. If absolutely no other professors are available, I'd say take her.
Her lectures are boring and the tests are hard to understand. The homework is graded based on completion so that's a good thing
She did not do any zoom lectures, she only gives homework assignments and the tests are due as a pdf and that's about it. No extra help, no office hours, nothing. She doesn't even help you out, worst professor I've ever had. If you want to fail go ahead and take this class. She grades the test like crazy and she makes them herself.
Professor Flynn is very distant from her students in a sense that the only contact you are able to achieve from her online class at ivc is via email. If you prefer professors who will teach you econ rather than make you econ then id recommend another prof.
Needs to adapt to the new environment or teaching it seems. There were no zoom meetings just pdfs and announcements for when assignments were do.
few homework, take-home (open book) quiz, you can pass as long as you did the homework and the quiz. EASY A.
