Will help you if you work hard in her class. access code for the homework and quizzes is a must and about $100. hard class if you're not a quick learner, uses everything you hated from high school and college algebra.
Ms. Hauser is a great teacher, and made math easy for me. Would take again and again!
Hauser teaches really fast and doesn't really give you any time to think when she's teaching the material. She then expects you to understand everything and do practice problems and gets frustrated when the whole class still has no idea what she's talking about. She's tough, but if you learn fast i bet it wont be that difficult.
She is a nice lady and wants to help but she goes through the material to fast without going in-depth and explaining how it should be done. Expects you to know and remember how to do problems that you were just taught or trying to learn last class.
i took pre calc in high school and it was so easy for me but i had to re take it and dr hauser expects you to know material without going over it before. she's very fast paced and tests are only approx. 12-15 questions so it's hard to do well on those. she does have a lot of opportunity for extra cred but overall would not recommend.
Sometimes she wasn't clear and she would often rush through problems. I sat in the front, so getting help was easy. But the people sitting in the back couldn't really reach her, so they were often lost. The best part about her is that she gives easy extra credit. Participation is extra credit. An online quiz is extra credit. Etc.
Hardest class ive ever taken. I failed and Im good at math..
I am surprised people dont like her. She is an exceptional educator! She finds easy ways for you to understand it. I am not a morning person and i had this class at 8:30 am. Caution for business calc you will need to be pretty good in algebra, so don't blame the professor if you don't know algebra; its her job to teach calc not algebra. great prof!
She teaches too fast, and expects you to understand. Definitely would not take again.
Gets frustrated when any one asks a question and doesn't understand that material. Expects you to understand everything on the first try, doesn't teach steps for the problems very well.
Really bad at explaining during lecture. Got lecture problems wrong at least once every class.
She teaches wayyyy too quickly in the class and is easily frustrated. When you don't know the answer, she gets mad. When you ask for help, she gets mad. Also, first thing in the morning - 8 am is such a task. Oh, be prepared to get slammed with homework. She isn't all bad though because there's extra credit. I still wouldn't recommend her.
The class itself was pretty easy, especially because we did all of our homework on mymathlab, which explains how to do every problem. However, she isn't a good teacher at all. Talks to you like you're stupid if you don't understand and doesn't show all her work. Most of her solutions don't make much sense but if you do the hw you should be fine
tests are terrible. teaches way too fast. don't expect to take notes without her going straight through the problem bc by the time you look up she's done. don't take if you aren't already good in calculus
Doesn't really know what she's doing. Doesn't go over lectures or homework problems herself, so when you go over them in class, she either skips over them because they don't have the material she's looking for, or literally doesn't understand it herself and doesn't explain it to you. The tests are really nothing like the homework.
Has absolutely no idea what she is doing. She teaches 100mph and does all the work in her head because she is a math genius and expects everyone to keep up. Makes you feel bad for asking questions and over all extremely rude. Test are short but very hard. NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH HER EVER! DON'T DO IT!
The professor won't teach how to do the problems in class. She'll explain parts of how to do the problems but not all steps which makes doing the homework very difficult. You'll end up teaching yourself how to do everything by looking it up online.
Class is pretty easy if you have taken a precalc class in high school because then it is more of a review. If you haven't taken precalc before do not take this class, you will be so lost because she really doesn't teach, just rushes through ppt. Easy A if you know what you're doing & its nice I did't have to take the final because I had a 95% grade
If you're not good at algebra, I do not recommend this class. It is strictly calculus based and you will fall behind fast if you don't have those skills. If you do, its an easy A. Finished with over 100. Participate, she likes to see that you care. Super friendly and understanding. Favorite class.
She was unwilling to answer questions in class and wasn't respectful. She expects you to understand the material right away and when you don't she will not slow down and help you.
Dr. Hauser is one of the worst professors I've had. She does not cover the material 100%, and if you ask her a question, she is often times unapproachable. I made a C in this class, and I would normally make a B or an A in my other math classes. I would not recommend her at all even if you're good at math. I'm sorry if she's your professor already
This class is mandatory for my major, but I recommend taking Hauser if you have taken an algebra class in the past and done well in it. She goes though the homework in class so you can finish in class and not have any. Lots of extra credit is given and sometimes retakes on the exams. She is really understanding and wants her students to succeed.
the class is hard but as long as you do the homework and show up its fine. the study guides are exactly like the test so if you study its definitely an easy A
This class is hard only because it's a pre-calc class There is homework weekly but you can redo it and make 100 on all of them she gives you extra credit opportunities and sometimes quizzes but these are to help boost your grade She doesn't cover all the material in class and can go pretty fast Her tests are hard to but you're able to correct one
Dr. Hauser can come off the wrong way but she is a very caring lady. If you go to her office hours she will help you well. You can just sit there in class and she won't care. The material is difficult but once you learn how to do the problems then you are fine. I would recommend her. Talk to her on a personal level and she will love you! Good luck!
She is amazing!!! loved her. Hard class but do your work and easy A tbh
Dr. Hauser is one of the best math teachers I've had. Her class is a lot of work, but she is always available during office hours to help you and can answer your questions via email all day long. She give you a ton of "gimme" points on exams to beef up your grade and drops your lowest 3 homework assignments and quiz grade. Definitely recommend!
Dr. Hauser was such a great professor. As I have never taken calculous before she made it super easy to understand. She always gives an extra 5% on exams if you do better than a 70% on the review guides so always do them! If you're nervous to take calc choose Dr. Hauser she will do everything in her power to help you to succeed.
Not a good professor. She is actually the worst. Do not take her class. She is so mean and doesn't help at all if you go to her.
Doctor Hauser is amazing! She gives you all the opportunities you can to get an A. She has test and homework forgiveness and I didnt have to take my final. Lectures are tough if math doesnt come easy to you but one test was partners and before every test she has a study day in her office with free pizza. And always give extra credit on tests!!
Cant figure out her own problems, leaves no confidence for the students
This was a pretty hard class. You really have to put in the work outside of class to get an A on the tests. There's a lot of homework but for the most part its pretty simple. She offers a lot of opportunity to get extra credit on tests and for the final. She isn't horrible but if your really bad at math I would not recommend.
She is the best! I took her freshman year in business calc and failed out after getting a 17 on the first test. Took her for the second time, same class and i now have a 93. She is a great teacher, sometimes goes fast but you will understand everything! She also gives so much extra credit on each test which helps out! take her for business calc!
She's a great teacher who genuinely cares about the success of her students! Would definitely take her again!
Ive never taken precalculus in high school, and getting through college algebra was a nightmare. Im taking this class accelerated in the summer and I'm shockingly doing ok. Dr. Hauser is really great at explaining things 13913x until you understand. I don't know why she has bad reviews. One test was taken in pairs and the lowest exam is dropped.
Really boring professor but makes it very easy to get an A. She gives tons of extra credit, drops the 3 lowest HW grades and basically gives you the test ahead of time in a study guide and just changes the numbers. Attendance is mandatory but she doesn't really explain things well in class, however, if you read the book you will easily get an A.
Good professor. Kind and caring. Gives lots of extra credit and does reviews before exams.
If you participate and do the study guides you WILL pass the class. The study guide is bascially the test she changes the numbers. On her exams its 11 questions but puts it out of 10 so you can get over a 100% on your exam. Dr. Hauser grew on me as a professor. I would take her again. She makes her class easy to pass you just have to do the work!
She is the worst bac101 professor at the University of Tampa. She grades poorly and expects students to put her class at a priority when the class is supposed to be an easy A. Late credit is not accepted and without going to class one could not pass the class. Do not recommend to anyone.
I love Dr. Hauser, she is thus far the best. She is very clear explaining all of her assignments. She is both very caring and understanding. Her focus is to see all her students pass- Please take her if you're not good with math- I love her dearly
I hated this professor. I had her for BAC 101 and 102 and she was just terrible. BAC is a freshman course that should be easy if all the work is completed on time. She grades everything way to hard and basically wants everyone to fail. I do not recommend at all
Goes through material very fast, grades extremely hard. She gets annoyed and sometimes angry if you ask questions inside or outside of class.
If you had never taken this class before (like in high school) i would not suggest taking this professor. If i hadnt taken this class in high school i probably would have got a much worse grade. she gets mad when students asks questions and doesnt explain material that well.
She goes through things so quickly, sucks if you have a question because she won't explain it. If she messes up your grade she somehow tries to put the blame on you.
In the beginning of the year Business Calc seemed terrifying but with the help of Dr. Hauser it became much easier. There is a decent amount of homework but she goes over the tough questions in class and if they are too difficult she will get rid of them and give everyone credit for them. Her tests are straight from the study guide. Great professor
I took calc in hs & this was a repeat of that with a few new aspects. this class was not difficult by any means & her mwf class never went the full time, mostly 30 min classes. she was a great teacher & if you show up, take a few & do the hw you will get an A. do the review for the extra 5 points & most of the time the review is the test.
This professor seems to be super nice, but sometimes is not very sure of herself and what she's teaching. Her teaching style is really informal and she sometimes gets confused. Overall, she does care and is an easy grader. I would not mind taking her again.
Super rude and unhelpful. Teaches the BAC 101 class but takes it entirely too seriously, grades hard on assignments that are meant to just help you learn. Very standoffish when you to her for help
Professor Hauser is the best! She is so caring and is always willing to help her students. Coming from someone who is not good at math I highly recommend taking her, she makes it easy.
Things were going great before having to leave school for COVID. She was a really good professor and made math super simple for everyone. Showing up to class everyday made it so you could get certain perks, like for me I ended up not having to take the final at all. She would push back homework and work with us to make sure everyone had a chance.
This is literally a class to help you fit into college and this Prof treats it like it's the most important class you will ever take. don't expect an A she doesn't give them out and will find anything she can to dock points on your assignments that take hours to do by the way. Extremely rude and inconsiderate.
Not pro student. Lots of work. Gives great study guides.
TAKE HER FOR MAT225! When I tell you I have never in my life learned math this easily, I could not be more serious. Is the class difficult? Yes. But if you go to every class, (which is very important) you will learn this material very well. She does a fantastic job of using real-world examples and explaining things very thoroughly in her lectures.
Had her class in Spring 2020 when classes went online mid semester. Before we went online the class was great... but when we moved online, everything changed. She stopped responding to any emails asking for help and changed a M/W/F class to just once a week for an hour. It was the worst experience. Would never take her again.
If u want a good grade in this class be prepared to work. Prof Hauser is intense, confusing, not very helpful. I had to teach myself throughout the course bc she made no sense. U HAVE to do the homework, go to class, participate, then sign up for extra participation. Doing all of this may get you an A depending on your exam scores, but they're hard.
This class is one of the hardest classes I have taken over my entire school career. Class is very self taught, teacher is very disorganized at times. Class was usually cut short by an hour, and all we did were breakout rooms where we did the homework, no in class learning
Absolutely horrible, I already hate math and she made it even worse. Very confusing and we would be sent in breakout rooms forever with other students just as confused. I got really sick missed a lot of class and when there was a mishap with my accommodations she penalized me anyway for something I tried to work out with her. Would not recommend
Worst teacher I have ever had. Have to go to class. Class time is zoom break out rooms and homework is watching her go through a PowerPoint. She is very confusing & you must teach yourself. Your better off finding a Bus Calc class online & then take her exams. Not forgiving & problems or issues, you must go to IT. No matter what. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!
THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. A lot of your grade depends on participation so if you don't go WAYYY above and beyond you will fail in the participation category. You will have to teach yourself everything. She HATES when you ask questions. Tests are incredibly hard, even after the study guides. DO NOT TAKE HER AT ALL COSTS!!!
i really liked her as a teacher, she gives a lot of work, but if you keep up and go to class it is an easy class to pass. she has alot of resources to help, but does not fully explain things sometimes
Worst class. Makes u watch lectures before class with questions in them that effect your grade. Also makes u hand in the notes u took on those lectures for a grade. In class, she puts us in breakout rooms to do the classwork with other students that do not know what they're doing either. Pointless kahoot at beginning of class. Exams are impossible.
You need to do EXTRA work to earn participation, like moderate zoom rooms or hold your own study groups, yet she doesn't even inform you that its required. I lost service, got kicked off of zoom, logged back in asap & she marked me absent & stated that I signed an agreement that I would zoom into class in a place where my service wouldn't drop...
If you are taking this professor for business calc, I recommend her. She enjoys teaching this class and it shows. The homework is straightforward and she gives out study guides for the exams that are extra credit if you complete them. She isnt always very clear in what she wants but if you have taken calc before this is an easy A and if not easy AB
It was an online class and all the lectures were pre-recorded. So not only did I need to make time for homework, I needed to make time to watch the 40 min lectures outside of class time. We needed to turn in our notes and answer the questions within the video as well. Her teaching itself is pretty good.
stay away at all costs. exams are impossible and you need to put in about 16 hours a week outside of class to even get a C. I have received As on 2 exams and still am barley passing this course. She does not care about her students and wants to put in bare minimum work herself. Put students into breakout rooms all class to teach each-other.
Puts you into break out rooms for the entirety of class and makes students teach themselves. Homework is watching her go through the powerpoint presentation. Unforgiving. Won't accept responsibility if she messes up and miscommunicates something (which happens frequently)
I had to spend countless hours teaching myself everything for this class. She would go over maybe one problem, then out use into "breakout groups" for 55 out of the 70 minutes of class. She assigns insane amounts of homework and has no sympathy for any student. Overall she was my least favorite professor of all time and her policies are unfair.
Most unorganized class I've ever been in. There is no structure to the class she throws numbers on the board from a problem that no one knows where it came from. She can not explain things and get annoyed when asked a question. One problem she started doing and her herself could not figure it out so she just skipped it entirely. Do not recommend
Do not take it with Dr Hauser. Class is unorganized, she does not teach. Jumps around to random problems. Expects everyone to know the material, and if you don't too bad. Highly recommend you take MAT225 with someone else. Only positive is she drops your lowest grade
Dr. Hauser makes calculus as straight forward as possible and is willing to work with you as much as possible. Every exam there is a way to get extra credit, and the study guide is really similar to the exam typically. You will have homework. She is incredibly smart so sometimes she goes a little fast but ask her go over it again
If you watch the videos she posts and ask questions for office hours you'd do fine. She lets you retake every test and offers 3 grading ways. Thank god for the third grading way otherwise I wouldn't pass. Its so much work and questions so beware but you get what you put intoit. DO ALL THE HW AND QUIZES ONLINE ON MYMATHLAB AND YOULL GET EASY A.
If you have a question, don't expect it to be answered. She will constantly ignore anything you say, she will not hear you out for anything. She was so bad, she just wanted you to learn off of videos the entire class. For people who have never taken calc either it was even worse, I could go on and on about how terrible she was. DO NOT RECOMMEND !
Professor Hauser is amazing! Anyone who says otherwise is just lazy as she is very accessible for office hours. If you have the dedication to do good, you will do good! I had her last sem for Pre-calculus and I still go to her this sem for help in calculus. (she is not my professor.) She genuinely cares for her students & their well-being.
I honestly don't understand why her reviews are so bad. Her expectations are laid out from the beginning and you have total control over your grade. Show up even though attendance is mandatory! She is always willing to help. The tests are definitely easier than MML assignments and class material. She also cares about her students, which is rare!
I am confused by these negative reviews! She is always willing to answer questions; in fact, she often walks around the class whenever we're working on a problem to make sure we all understand. She teaches you the EXACT problems that'll be on the exams, and you learn how all the problems relate to business. I can't recommend her enough for MAT 225.
Professor Hauser is a good professor, however she is somewhat cold at first. She wants you to watch videos in order to learn the content before you come to class, but if you don't do that you are still able to learn. The tests are much easier than MML assignments and you can easily pass if you put some effort into studying and doing the reviews.
Dr. Hauser is a nice person, but not a good professor. The class constantly had exam averages in the 40-50 range, and she would have to give 30 points back so that some of her students passed. Her lectures consisted of her doing problems on the board with no real explanation of how to do the problem. DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS IF YOU NEED CALC 2!
I loved Professor Hauser. She wants her students to pass and gives them every opportunity to do well. She will answer questions and will even have a Zoom review before exams. She not only drops your lowest grade but will even replace your second lowest grade with your final exam score if it's better. Put in the work, you'll do well. Love her!
Literally took precalc in high school (finished with an A) and I am a good student and still managed to somehow get a D in this class. She is the worst teacher I have ever had in the history of teachers. I am furious with her and her teaching style. We do not learn by videos! ACTUALLY TEACH IN CLASS!!!!
Prof. Hauser was the best! She is so understanding and does everything she can to help students succeed. She gives us note packets where we just fill in information and she goes through everything on the board multiple times. She even makes the optional review Pearsons extra credit for the exam. Take her!!
Not very flexible nor understanding when I had to miss class for university excused reasons. Does not really teach nor explain much during class rather she gives you an attitude for not knowing any of the content that shes supposed to teach. She expects us to learn all of it from watching the videos which doesn't always work out!
Professor Hauser does not take the time to answer your questions and teaches at her own pace leaving behind her students. She expects you to know the answer to everything without having taught. I would not recommend taking her class as she is not a good teacher.
This course is fast paced and homework heavy, but it is math so it needs to be. All tests are not multiple choice which makes them very difficult. She is sometimes helpful when you ask a question, however she is very direct when someone gets a question wrong. And does kind of make you feel dumb. But, with me personally, I have not had any issues.
Dr. Hauser was sort of all over the place would skip sections of the chapter, honestly didn't teach very much. I had to teach myself a lot of the material or find videos to explain, 4 tests, a quiz and hw for each section, lowest exam, 2 quizzes and 3 hw get dropped If you're bad at math DO NOT TAKE HER, I was able to get an A but I am good in math
Professor gives you options for your grade. Adds a lot of points to each test, generous with partial credit.
Didn't make an effort to actually teach the class entirely. Did maybe one or two examples in class and let mymathlab do the actual teaching, which it didn't do a good job. Many of us had to self-teach ourselves. Exams were pretty short though.
Do not take
Professor Hauser, despite being slightly hard of hearing, is a kind and genuine teacher. She teaches all of her concepts concistently, so catching on and learning isnt too difficult.
this class isn't hard she is just horrible at teaching it. had to teach most of it to myself.
Very caring professor. Do NOT listen to the mean reviews. This class is entirely what you make of it. Put in the effort and you will do well, just don't slack.
I had her for Business calc. She's a great teacher if you have taken calc before in high school. Otherwise, I could see how this class could be difficult. So if you have taken calc before she's a great teacher for you. All tests are 11 questions and the final is 22 questions.
Dr. Hauser really cares about her students and wants to make sure everyone understands the material. The lectures were pretty short and she gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
I wouldn't recommend taking her for summer courses, maybe she's better in person but jeez man I had an A knocked down to an F on one exam. And there isn't anyway to fix that? Kindly get out of my academic life.
Difficult homework, difficult exams, The homeworks are long too so be prepared to work, class is also only 40mins only going over examples.
Professor Hauser is amazing. I do have to admit, she gives A LOT of homework, video quizzes and her exams are pretty tough, but it's for the best for you because she genuinely wants to see you succeed. Easy to get along with. Join her office hours if you're struggling. Good amount of extra credit. I recommend putting 2-3 hours a day into her course
There are good/bad things about her. All tests are 11 questions but the last question is always extra credit. she gives extra cred before exams too. so it is pretty hard to get a bad grade in her class. she also gives out options for how you want your final grade which is useful. However she is so annoying, and can barely hear. only take if patient
Hauser is a good professor who wants you to succeed. She gives a lot of homework, video quizzes and exams that are relatively hard. But with doing these assignments will help you understand what is going on in the class. I would suggest that you do all of it as it is optional minus the exams. Overall, She is very helpful and wants you to do great.
Not the worst but not the best. She expects you to learn everything outside of class but has helpful video quizzes so it's not too bad. homework is difficult but you have until the end of the semester to do it.
I did not choose to take this class yet I had to follow through with it. If you have better options then this proffesor you should take it. She gives many chances to better your grade through homework and quizzes. However there is actually so much work you will be doing endless hours of math in your free time.
Hauser was not understanding at all. Her lectures were long and confusing. Her examples never helped. Her tests were near impossible. Tutoring and spending hours on the material wont even help you. The homeworks were so time consuming. The way the modules were set up was horrible. The quizzes were hard too. Overall if you want to pass dont take her
Dr. Hauser is a great professor who cares about her student's success. Grades are very forgiving as she offers three different ways for your final grade to be calculated and every test has extra credit. This class will be super easy for you if you took calculus already. Otherwise, I get why people can find it tough as she tends to move quick.
super nice women, lectures are a little confusing but she really helps you if you ask for it. its a hard class in general so use office office and the math center and you will do good. lots of homework but that's normal for math with Pearson
Dr. Hauser can be hit-or-miss, but with some effort, the class is manageable. Utilize Unstuck study alongside the textbook to supplement the lectures and stay on top of the material.
does not teach she expects you to watch the videos and just know whats going on. she will go over question super quick not even finishing them out. overall awful
She gives you videos and class is spent only doing practice problems. She explains things in simple terms and will help you if you ask. Really nice if you put in effort. Lets you retake tests and drops lowest hw, test, and quiz grades, optional final. Made a hard class easy. Just pay attention in class, watch vids, and go to office hrs.
Attendance is mandatory and is taken the minute class begins so do not show up if you are going to be late. Nothing is actually taught in class you just go over the homework she assigned the night before without teaching it. The only way to learn the material is to watch the video before the class as she will not teach it.
Worst professor ever, she never actually teaches the material, you have to watch an absurd amount of videos to attempt to grasp the material. Her students constantly correct her when she does work on the board because it's always wrong, and the answer keys for the exam reviews are always incorrect. WORST PROFESSOR EVER STAY AWAY.
You are given everything you need to pass this class as long as you try to put in effort. There is so much extra credit its almost impossible to fail. Everything you need to know is in the videos she makes and you can go back to them as many times as you need. She drops your lowest quiz and exam grade too, just a bit passive aggressive.
She's an okay professor. You watch videos outside of class and do examples inside of class. All exams were 11 questions but graded out of 10, so there is always extra credit. I thought the class was very easy and she always lets us out early.
She gives a lot of extra credit but does not teach. You'll have to teach yourself but she does do a lot of examples in class. She has 3 systems to get the highest grade possible. I would recommend her but be ready to teach yourself.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! Especially if you are not strong in math. Rushes through class lectures, expects you to already know the material, too much homework. If you're ready to teach yourself every unit, then take her, but if you need an actual professor STAY AWAY!
I didn't love that most of the lectures are online, but she does a great job of explaining in class. Tests are hard, but you should be fine if you study and pay attention. LOTS of extra credit, if you take advantage of it you will have an A+ or higher. You have 4 exams, but one is online, and she drops the lowest grade. Give her a chance!
Dr. Hauser gives a lot of extra credit and gives you three grading options. You do actually have to try and put in effort but she gives you all the tools. You have to watch videos before every class but those genuinely help so much with understanding the material. Her exams are not overly difficult and theres always a bonus question on the exam.
She doesn't teach at all. She makes you watch videos outside of class, which are due before class. The whole class is a lecture, and most of the questions don't show most of the work. She gives a lot of homework, she does give you time to finish it and extra credit for tests, and drops the worst test grade and 3 HW. She just cant teach at all
It's an easy class if you can teach yourself. She doesn't teach in the class she just goes over the homeworks and test reviews and answers questions if you don't understand something. She does things wrong a good amount of times and students have to correct her. I wouldn't take her if you need to be taught math and can't learn yourself.
Would never take again. Could not pay me to take this class.
Not the best but not horrible. Gives three grading options 1) only exams 2) exams and homework 3) exams, homework, and quizzes. Gives you flexibility if you are a good exam taker to not have any homework. Not the best teacher but exams are easy and true to what she goes over in class and in videos before class.
To say she is horrible teacher is an understatement. Don't bother going into her office hours to ask for help it won't work. Her videos covering topics don't explain anything so you have to rely on what she teaches in class. Also don't bother emailing her to ask questions she won't help. Don't take her she is a horrible teacher save yourself.
