Class is easy, mostly open book, always open notes. Pay attention to what's on tests and you're set. Prof a little unorganized and ditzy, but otherwise okay.

A really nice teacher, but disorganized when it came to grades for quizzes. My final grade was even really late coming in. However she is a nice person and a good lecturer, and even started up some good debates in my class. I reccomend her, I just hope she's more organized for others.

This was the first class that got me on the road to my degree. In retrospect, I owe a lot of my decision to such a wonderful and heartfelt teacher. Laura is caring and honest, and loves teaching about life. We went through 9-11 in our class, which enriched it even more.

Mrs Homen was very nice and has a good teaching style. She does powerpoint so u can get all the notes. She gives a study guide and is always willing to help. Its an easy class if you apply yourself.

I think she is an easy teacher and shes easy to ditch class too. I enjoy what i learn its just the class goes so slow. It takes a whole class period to get through notes. and we do the notes after we take the take home quizzes. Which makes no sense at all.

she is a wonderful teacher . she is very clear and funny. everything comes from the book .she makes the class fun. i would recomand this class to everyone that was interested

Excellent teacher! She definetly knows what shes talking about. And she really cares about her students success. She adds personal experience to topics that would otherwise be boring. Tests are always open note. Go to class and you'll do well. I would recomend her!

she is a very good teacher, there are two take home exams which are somewhat hard but make sure you read the book because they are word for word from the book.. the quizes are all take home and she uses soem quiz questions on the exams..which is nice..Overall she is a great teacher..

INCREDIBLE. She has quizs that you grade in class every week and she has take home tests that are open book. all of her in class tests are all open notes. yes you do have to put forth effort but its a very good class to take.

Laura Homen is the nicest teacher. She has a special intrest in all of her tudents, and she is super easy to talk to. She truely cares how her students fare in her class, and if you take Laura you won't be sorry.

She is my favorite professor by far! Always there to help anytime. She makes you want to listen and answers questions in detail! Everything in her class is open take home except for the midterm and final which are still open note. All the information in the class is knowledge you'll need throughout your life! Take her!!

Excellent Professor! I had her for a Summer 2006 class, and it was a great experience. She is VERY thorough with the text and expects her students to listen and participate...grade depends on it! Very fun and cute too. Tell her I said hello.

She is the best proffesor that i have had so far. she makes the class interesting, starts interesting conversations. keeps students updated on their progress, really helpful, cares about students, wants us to learn, doesn't give too much hw. definately take this teacher if you can.

Great professor!! Very concise, yet explains material to all age and gender groups in a context easily understood. Expects college level comprehension and accountability in writing assignments (a good thing!!:) and is extremely fair when it comes to taking exams!!! I would definitely recommend!

Homen was an awesome teacher. Her notes are available online, so taking and following notes in class was very simple. Her style of teaching really allows for you to learn in very easy methods. She is a great teacher!

She is so cute! She is a ball of fun! I'm in her TV HD 1 class. She is one of the best DL teachers I have had! She really works with the at home students. Makes things fun! VERY FAIR!!! 2 take home tests... 2 in class tests open note.... If you're looking to take HD1 take it from her you will LOVE it!

She goes very fast! I highly reccommend taking her on TV if you can so you can rewind. She rarely gets right back to you so it's very frustrating. However, she is helpful when you do get a hold of her. Very fast pace class, but she gives you all the tools you need to succeed, it's just staying on top of the work that can be challenging.

I took her for Spring 07 One of the best teachers I've ever had. She is intelligent, beautiful, fun, her outfits were nice. She is very fair on her gradings. You learn a lot. We had two essays, 2 take home exams and 2 in class exams. We also had weekly "quizzes" which you do at home and grade in class. Awesome class.

Took Hum. Dev. 1 in Fall '06. Fun lectures with class participation, daily open-book take-home quizzes, two essays, multiple choice exams. Don't waste her time or yours unless you're planning to attend every class. Not difficult as long as you want to learn and keep up with the work. Enjoyable class structure; I certainly recommend Mrs. Homen.

Best professor i've ever had! Really cares about her students and their well being. She is super nice and really funny. Do all the work and you will get an A. Two take home mid terms, and 2 open note tests.

This class has a lot of work! That being said, Laura is fun and helpful and she will make you enjoy learning this material.

Yes, it is a lot of busy work but everything is basically take home and your in class tests are open note! Laura is a fun and energetic teacher, I really learned a lot. But she wants the essays word for word out of the book and you get marked down if you put it into your own words. Becarful because in any other class this is considered plagarism.

I don't know what these people are talking about; this class is so awesome! If you are lucky enough to take this class, summer, spring, or fall semester, you will never regret it! She is the most amazing teacher ever! TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!!!!!

great teacher!! quiz and short essay on EVERY chapter, 2 long essays, 3 midterms and a final. lots of busy work, but very doable. keep up and you'll do fine. very fun learning environment! Take her if you can!!

Laura has an oversized ego, and makes this course too full of busy work. A take-home quiz was due at every class. You didn't really have to learn much, but you have to spend tons of time picking quiz answers out of the book. The lectures and quizzes didn't necessarily emphasize the most important points, often just minutia. Not recommended!

Easy A+, Just do the take home quizes, and take home Midterms, gather alot of data for the Midterm questions, Don't lose any quizes.the class is for people with kids, no kids, making kids, and for people getting old, and death. anyone can relate to this class. would be medical or not students can use this easy A class.miss a few, Got a high B+, Lee

Good Teacher but have Quizes do everyday. The essays assignments she was too picky about grammer and making sure you have cover all the points in the essay. The class was easy but demanding for the Summer.

Laura is the best teacher at sierra college! I took her my first semester and it made me very happy to be back in school! Laura is amazing she makes class fun, ive had alot of great laughs in this class. She has a great sense of humor and shes a sweetheart. I recommend this class for everyone! i learned alot of things ill take with me when i raise children of my own. as long as you do the work ull get a good grade.

The best teacher I have ever has at Sierra!! She really does care about her students. There is two BIG essays to do. One is take home and one is in class. Every chapter has a chapter quiz and a essay. Straight from the book though. She gives you the aspects she wants in the essay too!! If you want or need to take this class..TAKE IT WITH HER!!!

Nice lady even though she is really not very organized. She does care about her students and their personal lives and is understanding. You learn A LOT in the class. Quizzes due daily, essays daily, 2 big reports due, midterms and final due. Keep up with the work and participate. Took her over the summer and worked my butt off- got an A!

She is soooo sweet and soooo cute and soooo kind and understanding! she actually realizes you have life outside of class and understands if you have to leave early or cant make it! My favorite teacher by far!

She is amazing! cares so much about her students and what is going on in their lives. She even opened up to me about personal issues in her life. she invited us to her family's reunion lol and as lame as it sounds a bunch of us were crying the last day of class. the exams are take home and you can work on them in groups. u can't do bad if u show up

Wonderful caring teacher. I took her over the summer. Very fast paced but learned a lot. Lets you use notes on tests and goes over the final beforehand. She really wants you to succeed. Even invited us to her home for a party. Got an "A" in the class which can be done if you take notes and pay attention. Highly recommend her class.

She is by far my favorite teacher. She's very passionate about what she lectures on. Her tests are right off the homework. If you keep up on the easy homework and pay half a mind to the lectures it's an easy A.

I really liked this teacher I just think she had two many pets in the class. Kinda sad I wasn't one of them =( Anyway,this class was quite enjoyable except for her allowing us to use two different books and the quizes were based on the old edition and not the new so that made things quite unorganized. All in All she is a sweet teacher.

She is an amazing teacher. She is extremely helpful and really cares about her students. The short essay once a week takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do it helps a lot with understanding the material. Also, most of the tests are open book, as are all of the quizzes, and the final is completely open note (including her lecture notes.

She is absolutly amazing! Dont expect an easy A, you have to work for it, but she is there every step of the way to help you, its not horribly hard, just time consuming. Fantastic teacher! Laura is one of the nicest, most helpful professors I had at Sierra. She goes out of her way to ensure you understand the material and she is very understanding of person absences (as long as you communicate!) She knows her subject and as long as you keep up with the reading for the weekly quizzes, you'll do great in the class!

follows the course outline. quiz on every chapter, but its straight out of the book and in order. 2 take home midterms and 2 finals. 1 project on rosalee and direct/indirect influences. i learned a lot from class, and enjoyed attending, the text book will be you BF though. she is very approachable and understandable! Laura is so sweet, she helped me through a very tough time during the semester, can't thank her enough for that. She is fair to her students, treats them like adults & is very understanding when "life" happens. Definitely knows her stuff. The tests are straight out of the book, that book is your BFF. Would DEFINITELY recommend & take her again.

lectures are really long and boring, she'll talk about 1 slide for like 30 min but she is very nice and understandable and will work with you through things that might be going on in your life.

Professor Homen is a very dedicated instructor. If you want a good grade, be in class, and on time. If you want a class that you will not need to do any work, maybe this is not for you. I have not missed any classes, nor am I late. I have an A so far. I laugh a lot, and enjoy this class. She will always help if you need it. Tests are hard.

Teacher is passionate about human development, it shows In her interactions w/ students. Lectures lifted straight from textbook slides and tend to be boring. She does encourage class participation a lot; more interesting if you participate. Easy A if you can keep up with heavy workload. Two tests are open notes and two are open book take-home. :)

AMAZING, she cares about your success and genuinely wants you to learn. If you do not participate in class or do not show up you will most likely not get a good grade! In Prof. Homen's class the Writing Center will be a big help. She is a stickler for grammar. Overall she is grate and super accessible, She loves her job and the students.

I absolutely loved her as a Psych 110/HDEV 21 ( same class - relationships) professor. She is a great person and great teacher. Do the homework, participate, and study, and it'll be a breeze. I looked forward to coming to class each week (if that's even possible). She cares about all her students, and is helpful in life and with classwork.

At first, I found this class super slow. BUT there was an awesome shift in the classroom and now our class discussions are some of the best I've ever had. She brings up important and challenging topics to discuss. Give it a couple weeks, and then make a decision about whether you want to drop or not.

People say she's tough, but I had an easy time with her. Come to class and you'll most likely get some test answers. She wants to see students succeed and will do everything to make sure they do. Loved this class! The technology was a bit dodgy on occaision, but she was always working to improve the class. Her knowledge and delivery of the topics is superior. She is clear in her expectations! I highly recommend if you take Human Development you take her course!

Homen was an amazing teacher. I think the class could get a little "fluffy" sometimes, but it was overall taught well. She is yielding and gives great feedback - also very professional and knowledgeable. Attendance isn't strictly mandatory, but she uses a terrible online system to track your participation and attendance (wastes a lot of class time)

I want to make this clear: Laura wants you to succeed. She is very lenient with her grading system and is extremely forgiving of mistakes. All tests are open-note, and the ones that are not are take-home. She is also very kind and supportive. I highly recommend.

Laura H. Was a great HD teacher. She was very helpful on every project and always had time to answer questions. Shes an easy grader but you have to do the work if you want the credit. No work/no credit. Shes funny, relatable, and makes the class lots of fun.

Guys!!!!! Laura Homen best professor ever!! It was my first semester in Sierra College and she made my semester perfect. It was easy to pass her class on an A, as long as you come to class and do all assignments. She's very kind and understanding. Her lectures are really interesting.

Amazing teacher and will do anything in her power to help you in her class and even outside of her classroom. She goes above and beyond and is by far one of the best teachers I've had. She gives out all of the tests and quiz information in her lectures so showing up is important. Only two big assignments. Tests and Midterms are take home.

Not only is she caring but I have learned so much in this class, she is very understanding and always makes sure that as she goes through her lectures it is clear to her students. First college class Ive ever taken and she pushed for my success. Shes not trying to trick you at all and only wants the best for you. If you can only show up for half the class or have personal problems she understands. During the virus we converted to Zoom which I thought would be a struggle but she made it easy. You could ask her anything.

Very nice professor. You will have to pay for TopHat if you don't already have access to it. Renting the textbook online is cheaper and works fine. You will be expected to share lots of intimate and personal details in the papers you turn in, so if you're not ready to talk about your abusive ex and lonely childhood, don't take this class.
