Got an A kicking and screaming. Pay attention to your grammer and try not to fall asleep. I was nerver a fan of English but Laura was cool, and nice. Very High School though-

One word...BORING. She's a really nice lady, but I have to talk myself into going to her class, very boring. She's pretty strick on grammar, and keeps you busy by reading stupid short stories.

Doctor Jeffries is a good professor. The calss was kinda boring but I finally understood how to write an essay. She is a little immature. But she knows what she is doing. I would reccomend her.

This is a good class if you're willing to do the work. She assigns readings and expects you to do them. She expects students to come to class prepared every day. You can learn a lot about writing, and write about whatever you want if you're willing to work. Not a good class for lazy, late, or rude students!

People at first may think she might expect a lot. But all you have to do is do the work, keep up, and your fine. I think she is an awesome teacher.

Dr. LJ is great professor. I had her online Enc1102 class. She does expect a lot of you, but she help and advice where ever it's needed. She provides a well organized forum for online instruction. Just make sure you keep up with her assignments. She does have a lot of assignments, but she tells you about them weeks in advance. I'd take her again!!

Dr. Jeffries was awesome. Took her online and fumbled up in the middle of the sem. She was very helpful in getting me back on my feet. Great teacher.

I've been a student at FCCJ and also at UNF. Dr. Jeffries expects her students to act like adults and take responsibility for themselves. Real college students expecting to do college-level work would not make the negative comments written below. You can learn to write in her class.

She is not a hard teacher at all. Now that u are out of high school, she expects u 2 act that way. When u have a question about an assignment, she will ask u 2 look it up on blackboard. it is always stated in detail what she expects. Writing assignments are not boring. she lets you write about things u can relate 2. over all i enjoyed this class.

Jeffries' class is fine--it's Freshman Comp and you can pick your own writing topics. The person below is taking the class for people who failed the placement test! It's not her fault you're doing middle school work. You're the one who placed into the class. Take responsibility for yourself!

took online class. you do have to work for your grade so don't take if you're looking for something to breeze through very easily. she challenges you to do better and i actually felt like i learned something. willing to help and very prompt & organized.

Personally I didn't think she was half as bad as the ratings say. Her class is actually pretty easy to pass but there is a lot of work. She grades with an understanding that we aren't all lit. majors and is pretty fair when it comes down to it. I learned a lot in the class and developed writing skills necessary to succeed in higher level classes.

Read the syllabus, do your work, and get an "A." It's that simple.

Very easy teacher, actually makes the class socialize and have fun. Barely any tests except 3 quizzes that are based on grammer. Very easy class and great teacher, recommended.

Good teacher and on the papers you can write about anything which i liked. I learned a lot and would recommend to take her.

I am still taking Dr. Jeffries English Lit from 1750 class. She is a GREAT teacher. I think she should be teaching at a university level to be honest. You will definitely have to make a strong effort in her class and WANT to read. She encourages class discussion. She is also a tough grader, but her class is very enlightening.

Prof. Jeffries was a great teacher. Her class was fairly easy to pass as long as you do all of the assignments. There are ALOT of essays to write and a good amount of reading though. Over all it was a good class. I would take her again if I needed any mroe English.

prof jeffries is ok. lots of papers and research that needs to be done in this course. lots of extra credits by the end of the course. she always answers ur questions.

I had my reserve about taking this class because I do not consider myself to be a good writer, but Prof J helped me to feel confident and she pushed me into being a better writer. Great teacher I would recommend her.

I thought her class was okay. She's a very goodhearted teacher who will help you out if you ask. She is a little like a grade school teacher at times, but I did learn and she trys to be involved. If you show up and do even most of the work you will pass. She is a good teacher for those just out of high school or just getting back to school.

I absolutely loved Dr. Jefferies! She is very helpful and wants you to succeed. You have Two free absences. Lots of group work which is fun. Writing assignments are interesting. I recommend her tol any and everyone taking enc1101 or any other class she teaches!

Prof. Jeffries is a great teacher. She likes to have the students involved in activities and does not give out a lot of homework. My writing has improved greatly thanks to her guidance.

Loved this class! She's nice, young, funny, but gets down to business. Few H.W. assignments, only four 2-pg. papers & one 5 pg. final paper. Easy topics to write on. Buy both books, she uses them. Encourages group work & questions. She'll help you greatly improve your writing skills. Not strict & class can get out early sometimes. TAKE HER CLASS!!!

Dr. Jeffries is a great teacher. I took this class on line. There is no "free ride" in her class. It's not an "easy" class but if you do the work as instructed, you will do well. There were proctored essays, many discussion boards, 6 papers as well as opportunities for extra credit. I would take one of her classes again.

Dr. Jeffries is literally my favorite teacher. She's thorough and extremely helpful, and she'll have you leaving the class feeling smarter than everyone. She grades essays according to your apparent writing ability and what she knows you're capable of. Overall AMAZING professor you can easily become friends with. TAKE HER!

Absolutely awesome professor. I took her online class, and she is probably the best I've had for online or in-class professors. She was very timely about replies, gave great suggestions, and overall very involved in the class. Highly recommend Dr. Jeffries.

I think this was a great and super-informative class. She does cover a lot of points but I wouldn't say she bounces around. You do have to do the reading before class or you'll never be able to follow along. But she lets you know what's expected and that you're supposed to be ready for her class.

When I started the class I did not do well. I did not pay attention to my writings etc. BUT I talked to her, she made it clear that when I do not better myself I will fail. English IS my second language; therefore not always the best. I still managed a A. Best of all, I improved my writing!

I've taken FSCJ classes that I passed easily and learned nothing from. A lot of them actually. Not so with Dr. Jeffries' class. In her class, you will work and learn or you won't make it. I got an education from Dr. Jeffries' class. She's no joke.

If you are looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. However, if you are transferring to a University and are worried that your classes at FSCJ have been dumbed down a bit, take her. She will get you prepared. Very good teacher

Fantastic professor! I was so used to other professors giving any essay an a that mine were all dumbed down. She really brought my essay skill back up and she was fantastic and very enthusiastic about literature!

If you're willing to pay attention and put in the necessary work, you will get a good grade and be a better writer as a result. Sage advice: Do not be disrespectful in class. DO NOT BE LATE. Do not chat with your classmates unless instructed to do so. TURN YOUR PHONE SOUNDS OFF AND DO NOT PLAY WITH YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICES. Be an adult. Be prepared.

I loved her class, and yes she may seem difficult but I believe she is teaching adults not high school kids. I liked the fact that she expected people to pay attention and do the work. If you do the work and pay attention you will be fine- provided you do work you are proud of and have put an effort into your papers.

Awesome professor fair and clear. Made one of my worst subjects quite enjoyable. And feel she helped improved my writing substantially! Need more professors like her!

At first i thought she was too assertive. But it ended up being a great class! She talks to you like an adult and expects you to behave that way. She takes pride in what she does for a living and will not just give you the grade you want, you have to work for it. and she counts off for more than 1 absence. Overall i feel like i learned something.

Attendance is mandatory-- do NOT skip more than 3 classes or you will most likely not pass. First thing she lets you know is that the class is not easy, so be sure you wantneed to take the class before you sign up. The class is overall tedious, but if tough literature is your thing, go for it.

Dr. Jeffries is an awesome professor. She is very clear about assignment and what she expects from you. There are 4 essays and a final essay plus a couple short quizzes and discussion notes. she really goes in depth with her lectures and helps you substantially improve your writing. Will def take her again for ENC1102 or LIT2000.

She is very nice and assigns 5 essays for the entire course. There is a little bit of reading in the 50 models essay book, but the essays are actually interesting. Good teacher!

Shes really nice and will help you if you are struggling. 5 main essay assignmets along with a quiz here or there thats about all you should expect. Overall she is a wonderful professor

One of the best english professors at FSCJ. Jeffries is amazing. Her class can be challenging but she makes it fun and inspiring. Her pet peeves are tardiness and being unprepared/not reading. Wish I could take her again! Take Jeffries or Jo Carlisle for ENC1101. They are the best english professors I've ever had even after transferring to UNF.

Definitely read all of the material she gives you. She also doesn't like to repeat herself so "listen carefully". She can give a little sass which I personally did not respond well to. She is a good teacher, very clear and concise, but I wouldn't take her again.

I have taken both ENC1101 and ENC1102 with Professor Jeffries and by far the best writing teacher I have ever had. As long as you put in effort she is willing to help you with whatever problems you have. Small reading assignments here and there but majority of the class comes from assigned essays throughout the course, stay on top of them.

Dr. Jeffries was one of my favorite teachers. Her approach to teaching is fresh and educational. I signed up for another one of her classes. Just make sure to show up to class. The course material isn't difficult. She makes you look at a topic from many different angles and that was refreshing too me.

I enjoyed Professor Jeffries's class. She cares about what she's teaching and stays up to date with current events. I truly enjoy english and writing so I enjoyed this class. If you struggle with writing she won't take it easy on you, but offers so many opportunities to advance your grade. She gives extra credit and has office hours all the time.

If you want to write better, her ENC 1102 class is a great way to actually appreciate journalism. It's a lot* of reading and a hefty bit of writing, but the skills she teaches make it feel like you've come a long way since the start. Relates to current events and you often feel connected to the topic.

Jeffries is an amazing teacher. If you are not comfortable discussing race and ethnicity, do not take her ENC1102 course. I really enjoyed exploring these issues and learning more about people of other backgrounds. There are A LOT of long readings and assignments, and you will have to WORK HARD for your grade, but I believe I came out stronger!

The class is a little difficult, but not more so than any other typical college class would be. There were a few papers and she gave great feedback on where to improve on those papers. The homework outside of the papers was split between online assignments on grammar and sentence structure, and essay reading in the textbook for the class.

I enjoyed ENC 1102 with Professor Jeffries; I particularly liked the topics selected for writing about texts. We did 3 essays and a PowerPoint. there were lots of video quizzes and inquisitive grammar quizzes assignments. You get one rewrite so don't sweat it if you bomb an essay. she is fair and will give you feedback on your work. good class!
